I stayed here with my family to hang out at the beaches Place gets a lot of traffic and is on a major thoroughfare This establishment is pet friendly

A few of my family members have animal allergies which caused mild reactions We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite with a full kitchen We had to request bedding for the pullout couch as it wasn’t in the room Appliances looked fairly new and were clean Shower water struggled to get hot and was lukewarm for most of our visit Free breakfast was great Staff is courteous and responsive Would highly recommend to military families moving to or from Norfolk

Veranda Family

My family wanted to stay here because it is in a nice location and when we arrived we saw that It’s so sad that my family had to wait on hot food to come out of the kitchen on this past Sunday It also sad that good workers can only be found Saturday and Sunday to keep dining area neat and guests happy in the kitchen area

The workers came and the cook was able to get work

Reagan, Brianna, Pam, just to name a few of the staff members that went above and beyond with customer service to make sure my stay was all that and more Thank you ladies

A lot of the hotel was being remodeled so there were certain areas that couldn’t be used The remodeled rooms are just lovely There are kitchen appliances, dish wash, pots, pans, bowls, utensils, full size refrigerator, coffee machine, electric stove, etc The couch in the living room is a full size pull out (ask the front desk for sheets and a cover if you’re going to be using it) Clean, clean, and cleanThere is also a laundry facility on the 3rd floor, $2 for the machines(pay by card), if you don’t like traveling with dirty clothes, like me lol & it’s clean Complimentary breakfast in the morning There’s a variety of foods to choose from for all different eaters The gym is 24 hours, the pool is from 10am-8pm, there is a tennis court, pool table, lounge areas, a banquet area & a free shuttle to and from the airportOverall a great, clean, fun stay THANKS AGAIN

Great hotel We always love their sheets — oh my gosh so clean and smooth and comfy We always sleep well on their beds and pillows

The poor cleaning staff was so patient and thorough when my kids got food all over the floor— sorry ! My family likes the toiletries We made good use of the microwave and fridge to let the teen eat leftovers at midnight and he loved the comfy pull out couch TONS of space for a family of five We appreciated the pool and towels and workout room Buffet breakfast is back too

I stayed here for approx 2 months for a work trip and I had a wonderful time The decor was modern, there was also free breakfast, a gym, and a laundry room

They do have a pool but I didn’t use it The rooms were spacious with just enough lighting The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly There’s one lady at the front desk, I believe her name was Yolanda but I’m not 100% sure, she was always so friendly and helpful I can tell she makes the best out of her job even though some guests can be difficult I would book here again

My room was ready at noon even though I informed the hotel I’d be there by 3pm Great…nope!- Unpacked my bag to place my clothes in the closet The door nearly fell on me when I pulled it because I didn’t realize it was off the track and was just leaning on the other door

– Walked into the bathroom to take a shower, and the only hook in the bathroom was removed There was nowhere to hang your towel- Got in the shower and the body soap bottle was empty Luckily I carry a travel bar of soap in my toiletries bag- Woke up in the morning to make coffee and there were only decaf pods available in my room No regular coffeeIt’s nice that my room was ready at noon but it would be best to run a quality check on the condition of the room and basic amenities before you quickly assign it to a guestWill not stay here again

Over all great kid friendly place to stay In the rooms have refrigerator but the ice maker really didn’t work and we asked for ice because there is not ice on each floor but the person wasn’t really nice when we asked for some, the kitchen didn’t have all it says it says it has Why I have a 4 star

But again still would come stay again

M Reaves

Decent hotel that is walking distance from downtown Norfolk The front desk staff are great I was upgraded to a two bed and two batch suite with a kitchen

The room is big even though I didn’t need the space The road noise outside (from the 6th floor) is pretty loud And the room is a little dated and worn It will need a refresh in 2023 or 2024

AJ Sanders

EXCELLENT Customer service by hotel staff and beautiful property Although parking was a long tedious process during our stay because the garage key/enrty wasn’t working the hotel staff was kind and patient with a few rude inpatient guestsWill definitely return

Unfortunately our flight home was as delayed due to a mechanical issue We booked with Tru for the overnight Our experience was great

The staff was very accommodating In particular, the front desk concierge, Whitney made our stay comfortable and stress free The accommodations were first rate Clean, modern and comfortable The proximity to the outlet mall and many good restaurants made this stay enjoyable 👍🎁🛌💤

Jessica Sims

Pros:Wood and tile floors in the room/bathroom

refreshing in comparison to the carpet in most hotelsLocation was great for what we were there for I don’t know how far the beach is from it but there were some restaurants within walking distanceCons:King size bed room was really small No microwave in the room which was the worst part for me With a 1 year old we could not heat up essential stuff for the baby There was 1 small microwave out in the lobby that was disgusting I refused to heat anything up in there You would think there was a more rigorous cleaning process with covid numbers increasing However, the microwave remained the same both days we were there1 dirty little microwave 😞🤬

Bianca Graves

I understand the contemporary decor concept and appreciated it however, I would have preferred a microwave in my room and a coffee maker Also, would have preferred a different cable package to have access to more channels on TV Also, couldn’t ever seem to get room cool enough for me

For those reading this, please know my comments are in no way meant to be a negative reflection on this hotel It was good and comfortable and welcoming It was my first time staying at Tru and my comments are totally personal preferences

Such an amazing experience here Caroline took great care of us! I attended the Marriott for a conference and I live 30 minutes away so I did not get a room However, all of the conference rooms were clean and the bathrooms were spotless Every single bathroom was amazing all day and I was there from 7:30-5:30 and used every single one from the second, third, and fourth floors

Parking was not the best but I partially blame myself for missing the garage with the tunnel you can walk through I parked a block away but the walk was slightly refreshing The service staff were friendly and kind It appears to be a nice hotel Maybe I’ll stay one day and review the rooms

If you’re looking for an elevated level of care and overall view then look no further! From the moment we walked in, my husband and I were greeted with champagne and wonderful customer service The front desk receptionist made sure to make us aware of the details on the parking garage before we made our way to our room Side note, my husband and I are on our honeymoon and wanted a hotel located near several activities as well as restaurants and bars

This hotel provided the perfect escape for us newlyweds who wanted to experience the most of Virginia The room itself was stunning with an incredible view of Norfolk, and very clean The hotel is located in a perfect area not even a block from the waterfront and also more than a dozen restaurants and bars for our picking The main thing my husband and I enjoyed was that the Lime bikes and scooters were so accessible we were able to experience every area of Norfolk This hotel is far more than three star hotel and has solidified our choice in where we will stay whenever we come from New York to see our friends and family

Allie Anderson

Coolest hotel I’ve stayed in The gallery is wonderful, entertaining and very interesting I loved the decor in the room

It is a incorporates modern amenities with the existing architecture of the building and definitely does not feel cookie cutter The water pressure in the room was weirdIt seemed to ebb and flow like maybe the pump is surging This didn’t really affect the utility of the sink but I didn’t use the shower so am unsure of the experience from that aspect The staff was helpful and friendly Parking is a downside as it costs $20 to self park in a garage

Robert Willinger

The glass was beautiful and elegant Had some of the same structure of the original building Assistance was great and very helpful as well

The hotel rooms themselves were very reflective of the Glass art A/C unit was quite did not hear neighboring rooms Was located on the corner so valet was almost a need to properly park besides paying for a garage Very enjoyable experience overall, staff was extremely welcoming at the front desk as well

The staff made this place great! We stayed here for a week and half while apt hunting The bed was comfy, the room clean, and the staff beyond friendly The continental breakfast was pretty big, though I chose to eat my own food

The pool was small, but people enjoyed it every night Most of the hotel staff was very friendly and made staying in a single room for an extended period of time more bearable I highly recommend staying here if you need a hotel in the Chesapeake area

Natasha Bentley

I stayed for week for a business trip The hotel was very clean The breakfast was wonderful

All the staff was super friendly and helpful but one particular member stood out, Miss Tracy at the front desk made my visit fun not only did she help me with every request that I had but she put a smile on my face every day when I walked in the lobby! I plan on staying here again for future visits, highly recommend!!

My son lives in Chesapeake, and when we go to visit this is where I stayThere are lots of Marriott properties in the area It’s not the fanciest, it’s not the cheapest

The rooms are basic, but very clean Breakfast is standard Coffee is goodI come here because of the staff These are some of the friendliest and most professional hotel people I’ve ever met (I’m a Titanium member, so you know I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels over the years!) I’ve stayed at very expensive Marriotts who could learn a thing or two about welcoming customers from this little hotel in Virginia (I’m looking at you Toronto Marriott!)This is the best place to stay in Chesapeake!

Recently stayed here for two weeks During my time here they installed new larger TVs in all the rooms Staff is amazing, very helpful and friendly

After talking to one he made it clear that he worked for the customers, without us they would not be there, he would try to fix any problems Great location, close to everything and easy access to the highway I got in quite late and completely checked in on my phone and used my phone as a key via the Hilton app the whole time

Coach G Denise Hardy

I am a Hilton rewards member Reviews are deceiving There was mold in my room

Everything was outdated The toilet didn’t flush We actually left after 1 day bc they could not find an acceptable room We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn and it was 1000% better I would never stay there again They need to remodel immediately Staff was great

This Hotel is definitely a beautiful hotel however I’ve had better for the price You don’t get room service if you do not ask we was told we had to ask for fresh clean towels and if we wanted our beds made

Our hotel room floor was extremely dusty The jacuzzi wasn’t available for use Only 2 elevators were working from the 4 that was available We paid $$850 for 2 days Definitely not worth it Only great part about this hotel is the view and the aesthetic of the rooms

Kyra Timberlake

Beautiful hotel with an amazing view of Norfolk! The rooms were also very clean! The staff was very nice and welcoming There was only an indoor pool and it was a bit outdated There were 2 family reunions and some other event going on this weekend, so it was very crowded

It took us over an hour to get our wings and fries but it they were delicious so I guess it was worth it The drinks from the bar were also very good! Will definitely stay again, hopefully when it’s not as crowded

Candace Armstead

The hotel is very beautiful The waterfront view is amazing! The bar is open until 1230 and they have an indoor fireplace as well as outdoor fire pits The room is clean and modern

The service is awesome! They allowed us to check in early when we arrivedHowever, the breakfast was terrible quality The eggs are powdered, the potatoes had no seasoning, the bacon was thin with no taste The French toast was soggy and undercooked We ended up leaving and went to waffle House The toilet paper is only one ply and there is only one towel hook in the bathroom There is also no microwave in the room but there is a small refrigeratorOverall this hotel was great for entertaining Close to the strip and a cute boardwalk But they cut corners on quality

This weekend was the second weekend I stayed at this hotel I was at this location a couple of months ago for the first time and was impressed with the staff So I came back and my second experience was just as great as the first

This hotel literally has the best staff, great free breakfast The rooms are large and clean And the whole building smells wonderful But I have to reiterate how great the staff is The only other place I’ve ever received customer service so good was at Disney World I will definitely be coming back to this location because you’re wonderful front desk people and the super sweet and fun people at the breakfast bar Keep up the good work guys and you should all get raises!!! PS Love the omelette bar guy that worked Sunday 6/26/22 !!

BIGHomie DeeTV

Me, my bestfriend and her child decided to stay at this establishment for a end of summer get away and I wish I would of just stayed home Along with the terrible smell in the hallways, molding walls in room and the dirty pool we was surprised at 4am with roaches on the floor and bed bugs in the couch pull out bed At check out we informed the nice lady at the desk and she understood our terrible experience as if this wasn’t her first time hearing the same story

The only nice things about this hotel is the customer service and the free breakfast I would not recommend this hotel to anybody

Kierra Scott

The hotel is under construction which they make all guests aware of on the website and on your confirmation There were major water leak issues in the gym and a few hallways Myself and several other guests notified the front desk and maintenance did not come to check the issues

Room was clean, however I still conduct my own cleaning rituals The pool and gym areas weren’t cleaned on a shift basis Gym did not have any disinfectant wipes or sprays to clean equipment I asked the receptionist for more wipes, she handed me napkins and a bottle of sanitizer and stated that was all she had This could be true however, these things should be checked and provided for use especially in hotels It is best to travel with your own set of cleaning supplies! The floor near the weights was soaked from water leak The pool area was not well maintained Dirty flooring from the time it opened to closing The pool is heavenly saturated with chlorine where it burns your eyes just sitting in the room Evening and night crew seemed short staffed Breakfast bar was ok not anything to rave about however, the staff did maintain fresh selections and kept the breakfast items and area clean Overall, I will probably stay again once they’re fully done with construction/renovations The staff were polite and were doing the best with what they had

Regina Fitz

Every single one of the staff members was so friendly and went out of their way to say hi and make sure my stay was great I had to extend twice and everyone at the front desk was super helpfulIt was in a great location with lots of places to eat within a five minute walk, including a wawa and grocery store

It’s also relatively close to base 30 minute walk/5 min driveThe only reason I gave 4/5 stars is because I kept having an issue with the water temp in the shower Regardless if the nozzle was all the way hot or all the way cold, the temp of the water didn’t change

Steven Frank

The hotel was clean, the beds were 5 out of 10, the staff was somewhat friendly, the breakfast was very limited, the biggest complaint is the air conditioning My family and other players families stayed at the hotel this weekend for a baseball tournament Most of the rooms’ air conditioners wouldn’t cool the room

I told the manager about the issue in our room, and they allegedly had someone look into the situation, but nothing changed One of the families had to go out and buy a box fan to help cool their room If the AC was working appropriately this review probably would have been 4 stars

Tom K

DUMP! Compared to the dozens of Hilton properties I have stayed at this is by far the bottom of the barrel Where to begin

Toilet: When flushed the tank wouldn’t refill I have to take the lid off of the tank every time and hit the float for it to work Then sometimes it doesn’t stop filling Reported to the front desk however when returning from work the next day the problem still wasn’t fixed Still conducting maintenance on the toilet myselfOutlets: At least four of them in the room didn’t workDesk Chair: Broken to where you’re forced to fall forward in the chair when you sit on itCleanliness: Simple things like the soap dish had black stains on it I took a tissue and was able to wipe the dirt away with easeGreat location if you’re working/visiting the Navy base, but otherwise STAY AWAY!

Beautiful, well kept property and decor! Very nice hotel and staff We enjoyed the hotel room, it was very clean and the bed is extremely comfortable The colors are warm and inviting with a nice sized bathroom

I love the large floor to ceiling window and there is plenty of lighting, outlets and charging available The lobby has spacious sitting areas, additional food and drink options, a bar, Cafe and marketplace shop There is an indoor pool as wellThey also have two free bottles of water waiting in your room! This will definitely be our go to when we are staying in the Norfolk area, highly recommended

Heather Cole

Overall our stay was good and we were satisfied The hotel is in a great location close to the highway, well lit, & has amenities to compliment any travel goerThe staff was friendly, personable & able to accommodate our needs

Our disappointment was the lack of cleanliness of our room A half used toilet paper roll, the refrigerator & cabinet were both so damaged & stained, things left under the bed from previous guests, etc The gym’s mirror has a black crust-spots near the trashcan/cleaning wipes that could use an attentive eye, otherwise it’s a great a space! If it weren’t for this, our stay would have been a 5-star

I stayed at the Delta Chesapeake Norfolk last month and had a pretty negative experience When I first arrived, the room I was given had a very foul smell and—frankly—did not seem to have been thoroughly cleaned (For example, there was a discarded wrapper by the trashcan next to the television that must have been missed when cleaning

) I decided to request a different room, although admittedly I only asked for a room further away from the elevators, rather than complaining about the condition of the room, because I didn’t want to make a big deal of it The woman at the front desk was polite, but told me the hotel was fully booked and they had no other rooms available Upon returning to my room, I used the bathroom and realized the toilet was not flushing properly, at which point I returned to the front desk and again asked for a different room The woman said a maintenance person would have to inspect the bathroom before they could give me a new room I waited for the maintenance person (who was very nice and helpful) and, when he arrived, he called the front desk, and told them I needed a new room Then, I had to go downstairs for a third time to exchange my room key and get a new key for the new room (apparently, now they did have other rooms available?) By the time the whole thing was resolved, and I was settled into my new room, I was running late for the event that I traveled to Norfolk for in the first place Also worth mentioning, the new room didn’t seem much cleaner than the first room I certainly don’t expect perfection, but I expected a lot more from Delta

The place is modern and looks pretty but lacks in selling an experience First thought I would treat myself and use the valet service but was told the service was not for guests staying at the hotel only for dine-in guests The receptionists were quite pleasant and easy to work with

The room was modern but lacked in being clean There was quite a bit of dust buildup on the bathroom shelves, desk, and the tabletop still had crumbs and coffee stains on it The room itself was not very soundproof as I could hear the local bars all night The bathroom could have used some work as the shower curtain was quite visibly ripped and had spots of mold on the corners On the last morning of my one night stay, they ran out of hot water and I had to take a cold shower not exactly the way I wanted to start my morning Overall, not an entirely bad hotel, but for the name, hype, and price I would expect a lot better experience than this The Courtyard down the street is just as nice, friendlier staff, easier to navigate, and has cleaner rooms (with hot water)

This hotel is exceptional…2night stay & upon check in we were greeted by Tyler, he made this experience worth it for us, he immediately explained everything around us & specifically met all my requests being a Hilton honors member, he is such a gem front desks needs people like Tyler to uphold that 1st impression I believe every hotel strives for He truly made a lasting impression We felt welcomed

The rooms were very clean, great view, breakfast was delicious, the restaurants located around the hotel offer great food & options The staff is very nice It starts from the moment you walk in & Tyler gets what guest services means for this Hilton Thank you for making our experience at the Hilton amazing We will be back

Food was very good, service excellent

If I would have known that I should have worn jeans and a baseball cap on Easter Sunday, I would have fit in perfectly There should be a dress code Especially at these prices Workout music during dinner – not relaxing I gave a credit card to secure reservation – not necessary Place was half full

This is an ideal location to visit ODU and anywhere around Norfolk The hotel is clean and more than adequate for the rate without any frills The main drawback is the loud noise from Hampton boulevard traffic all night and all day! The breakfast had some warm items, but it seems pretty much like your typical free breakfast in the lobby

The coffee was robust and flavorful, which was better than expected The staff was extremely friendly and helpful Overall,it was a nice stay

Francina Thomas

Marriott properties never disappoint We picked this Springhill Suite by ODU because of the downtown location was closest to my family Check in was fast and efficient

It was 10:45 pm and the change of shift The young man was very nice, professional and knowledgeable, he explained all the hotel amenities in detail The young lady taking his place was just as nice with a beautiful smile The hotel lobby was clean, openly spaced and well lit Our King room was clean and fresh smelling It was spacious with all the hotel features we needed- microwave, refrigerator, full length mirror, and good lighting Parking is across the street and costs 8 dollars The hotel has a indoor pool, continual breakfast, and fitness center The prices are comparable to the other hotels in the area if not better We would definitely stay again

Kati Van Ness

The air wasn’t working in our room, and we were just told “Sorry, maintenance left already” No offer to switch to another room, bring a fan, etc The breakfast wasn’t well stocked and we had to ask for forks, tongs, etc

Food was cold, coffee had tons of grounds in it Hand sanitizer was empty and the front desk staff didn’t have any or offer to refill Nice size room, fairly clean, but this hotel is short-staffed and staff that are working don’t seem to care

Thank goodness for great customer service Aliyah was super awesome! She works the front desk I had an issue and she quickly jumped in and resolved my problem without a sour face! Her customer service skills are unmatched! The hotel itself is okay

I wouldn’t necessarily book there again The place needs to be cleaned better House keeping definitely needs a do over With better management the place would be pretty cool The modern feel is there but lacks cleanliness I love pets, but you could definitely hear the dogs 🐕 barking all night Walls are very thin So if you are looking for a good night’s sleep, forget about it The only reason they get 4 stars is because of the great customer service

N. Rey

For the price, stay somewhere else They do not provide full housekeeping service (even when you stay Monday – Friday) They only gave us new towels

Our bed was never made Our sheets were never changed The building is HOTThe bar service & food are good Stay somewhere else and visit the barThe building is generally hot throughout The air in the room doesn’t actually ever meet the temperature on the thermostat It completely went out one night Maintenance came the next day and got the temperature down But still not to the 67 degrees on the thermostat

Gary Burghart

Modern hotel The rooms are small but clean No drawers to store clothes

Two things were very irritating The HVAC controls were pretty locked down You can pretty much just increase/decrease temperature…and it takes forever, you can’t hear any fan or feel any air! Spent my first two days sweating and my last two days freezing Secondly, I was there with a group of five other rooms They have multiple types of federal and government rates, due to a technicality, mine did not include breakfast but everybody else’s did even though we were all paying similar cost I brought this up to the hotel and they refused to adjust my rate Breakfast is included at practically every other hotel in the area One highlight, we enjoyed the bar in the evenings—-the bartenders were friendly and the live music was great Bottom line from a Hilton diamond member who decided to give Marriott a try—-disappointed in this hotel

Room was comfortable and well appointed We were very happy and the front desk staff was courteousWhat made our stay was the restaurant staff

Tasha & Mimi were outstanding and exceeded our expectations Our table was set beautifully, the service was attentive and, when we shared that we were staying for our anniversary, they surprised us with waffles with cute heart shaped fruits skewers in our juice – truly the extra mile!!! A small token, but incredibly sweet and guest centered That kindness and unexpected surprise will bring us back to The Sheraton Waterside again!

The hotel is beautiful! The stars belong to the restaurant for it’s very tasty food and EXCELLENT service The waiter/bar tender was absolutely incredible He was so attentive and personable

He gave us 5 star service and went to great lengths to make sure we had an amazing experience I had the crab cake sandwich (YUMMY) I’ve heard so much about the she crab soup too

We came here for a wedding and had a great experience! The staff at the front desk were super friendly and the room was very clean We has lunch one of the days at the restaurant in the lobby and the food was fantastic I had the Cobb (which was huge) and my Husband loved his grilled chicken sandwich

Our server Tasha S was so nice and took great care of us The manager on duty, Mimi, was also super kind and gave us some great recommendations of things to do in the area!

See my other review first I want to say that Ron, who is worth all of the 5 and more, is our hero I’d put them on this review but I do want people to have all of the information available to them

He moved us 1 floor up and right away stepping off the elevator, you could tell the distinct difference in cleanliness This room is clean and best of all, doesn’t have a smell to it, which is GOOD!! My sincere thanks to Ron for understanding and being so accommodating He was always so nice to us during this whole thing

Monique Hyde, MSW

The quality of the rooms are not worth the money Honestly if you stay there you will be given 5 star service, which I would like to recognize crystal and Dana for all there hard work in making my stay better Also Stephanie and destiny for the friendly welcome during breakfast

But I seen stain sheets, stain on carpets, roaches, digital key didn’t work, tv wasn’t working, and mold on the new room they try to switch me too I had to come straight home and wash everything in my bags This was just an over night stay and it was not comfortable Theses matter is a owner issue and not the staff that works there If I can take all the staff members with me to my place of business I would not think twice Below are some of the pictures with the mold and old carpet This is not Hilton quality and they most do something about this because it’s to expensive to stay in this conditions

Breakfast was great! Big selection and different breakfast everyday Bed was comfortable and clean Front desk manager, Joe, was nice and helpful

Floor wasn’t swept that well nor the table wiped down in my suite, which was something I could live with since the bed was clean and the suite in general was relatively clean The only real issue for me was that the shower and sink water smelled like bleach!! Even my wash cloth and towel smelled like bleach after it was dry the next day

Miri M

If I could give ZERO stars I would I was supposed to be staying here for 10 weeks, but could only make it through 3 because of their mouse infestation I stayed in room 222 where I first saw the mouse, then was moved to room 209 where I saw it AGAIN

I had to place MY OWN mouse traps since they were to lazy to do it, and woke up to the traps disappearing and being moved by the mouse I was told multiple times by staff that room 222 was being exterminated and traps were being set, but when I went to collect my belongings none of the above were being done The only employee here who was genuine with their help and care for the customer was Lorenzo If you ask me, he should be promoted to store manager since none of the other staff know how to abide by their word Don’t waste your money here unless you want to practice your mouse trap setting skills, because trust me, they have enough mice to go around
