Our experience was excellent Personnel was friendly Nice cozy room, cool a/c, water sistern tank and generator in case of emergency at an affordable price

Even though there is no restaurant, Doordash delivered to our room as requested There are many places to eat nearby, if you have a vehicle We appreciated that the pool closes at 10:00pm as some guests do really want to rest and avoid loud noises late at nightNice Christmas decorations right after Thanksgiving! It can improve by offering complimentary coffee and perhaps water the day of arrival

lynda gathing

When we checked in there was no English speaking person! The only 2 bed queen rooms are on the 3rd fl and I have a bad knee so it is hard for me to walk 3 flights When we got to the room there were no wash cloths and only 1 sheet on the bed Ironing board but no iron’ no soap, no shower mat and no kleenex In the morning there was no hot water to shower, no coffee and no maid service

I don’t think they come up to the 3rd floor Hotelcom claimed it is handicapp accessible but it is not The road back yo this hotel is a road from HELL There in nothing around this hotel and it should be considered a 1 star hotel

Blanca Perez

Nice small hotel hidden in the country side of Carolina, Puerto Rico If you want a little bit of tranquility in the middle of a busy city, this is the place to be Located less than 10 minutes from main road Ave 65 de Infanteria

Very clean and comfortable, had a refrigerator and large bathroom Parking is available free for hotel guests The only con was that water was cold most of the days, but they told us that they use a solar water heater, and to be fair it was raining most of the days we were there Overall, it was a nice place, affordable, and safe for your stay in Carolina

Miss Natuful Blessing

I hesitantly booked this hotel after the many negative reviews but I’m so glad I stayed here !! This place is beyond my expectations Calming and relaxing vibes My king size room with balcony was just amazing

The security protocol at the hotel is wonderful The check in and out process was smooth The staff were awesome The rooftop bar/pool was everything I wanted Microwave and Ice machine conveniently located just by the elevator on the floor i stayedIn my opinion,Book this hotel Without hesitation !!

Noémie

Overall I enjoyed my stay The room has a modern contemporary look Loved having a balcony, but not on the second floor

My view was a parking lot The shower was also tricky to understand Turning to the left and pressing the button makes it hotter! Breakfast buffet was pretty good, and the waiter was very friendly! Rooftop bar and pool had a great vibe You get a free welcome drink! They also have a part of the beach reserved for guests It’s right next to the fancier Marriott Stellaris Chairs, towels and umbrellas are free Not sure why it isn’t advertised more at the hotel, cause I found out about it by reading these comments They mention it in a little info card they hand out when you check in Cleaning service is optional, which I appreciate It’s also located next to restaurants, bars and drug stores Would stay again, but I’d request a higher floor

Olivia Cook

Loved this stay for my birthday trip! Was so clean, walkable to everything, service was amazing, have a spot on the beach just a short walk up with towels and chairs/umbrellas and the rooftop e the pool is so pretty! The room was ready when we flew in at 12 I recommend the Marriott app it tells you when everything is ready makes traveling less stressful! 10/10 recommend our flight on the way home got delayed And they held our bags after checkout so we could go explore some more!

I will give it 4 because 35 isn’t an option

Perhaps it’s my fault for taking the recommendation of our cabbie But as it was 7 pm and we had missed our cruise, we we had been up since 245 am and were too tired to care It was budget friendly at$129 a nightPositives: The staff alone world have made the place a 5, so friendly and warm and welcomingThe towels were soft and the rooms were very clean, and the AC worked greatNegatives: (And this is the biggest no no in my book, besides a dirty room): The beds were awfully uncomfortable! Like sleeping on a pull-out sofa mattress, not cushy at all and completely flat pillowsMy”everything” ached when I woke up todayBed coverings were quite a bit worn, and were oddly short Like if you pulled them up over your shoulders, your feet would be exposedDefinitely road noise, but not awful, easily covered by sound machine on my phoneI would however, eat at the restaurant on the corner again, amazing meal and service Was recommended by the very helpful night desk man who checked us inI rate it a 3 5 because I have stayed at way better “budget” places for $129, and some of them even included breakfastIt was basic, it was shelter Staff was awesome Would only stay there again if everything else was sold out tho

My Husband and I booked this hotel for 6 days from 2/17/22-2/23/22 We are currently still here since the first day 2/17/22 we have been having toilet /sink issues My husband notified the front desk she send someone with a plunger, plunges the toilet and goes , the toilet continues not to flush , we noticed them again they said maintenance were going to be sent they never came

The day after the sink starts acting up , the water isn’t going down we try to notify them by calling the front desk but no answer we decided to go downstairs ,the gentleman that was at the front desk was asleep Today we wake up it’s check out day my husband goes to brush his teeth says to me the water still has not gone down goes to front desk tells her no one comes 30 mins later we now getting our clothes out to shower and when I come to notice the water is in the bedroom floor from the bathroom , when I open the bathroom door water is a over We call them down stairs a man comes up tries to fix it but can’t says that he has to give us a different room on the last day when we getting ready to go WHAT HAPPENED TO CHANGING ME FROM ROOMS THE FIRST,SECOND DAY FROM THIS DISASTERNOT ONLY THAT FRONT DESK KEEP SEEING US COME DOWN TO USE THE BATHROOMSMH THIS WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAVE AND FOR MY BIRTHDAY I REALLY WOULD LIKE MY MONEY NOT ONE MOMENT COULD WE HAVE BEEN COMFORTABLEAmaris&Greg Kobea

Shaun Santiago

Very basic rooms but clean Check in was a breeze and they were very accommodating If you are going to San Juan you probably not going to be in your room much other than to sleep so why pay $500 a night when you have this affordable hotel

You pay for what you get but it’s a place to sleep The room was extremely clean and was cleaned daily Thank you Hotel San Jorge – you really made my vacation a whole lot smoother

The location is absolutely perfect! Short walk to the lagoon for paddle boarding and to multiple beaches! The price was unbeatable and the staff was friendly and helpful Being able to use the pool next door was a huge bonus and we even had a little balcony on our room which I didn’t expect The view from the rooftop was also gorgeous

It’s definitely a slightly older building but as long as you go in understanding it’s a budget hotel with a great location, you’ll have a great stay

Balthanon Ysen

Overall, I was fairly pleased with my stay at the El Canario On its own, it is lacking a number of amenities and its rooms are definitely dated However, the arrangement they have with the Comfort Inn next door remedies most of the elements that are potentially gaps with breakfast, a nice little pool (shaded in the evening for sunburn free swimming, in the sun in the morning for those who prefer that), an exercise room, and a slightly nicer area to sit and relax

I was surprised at how tasty the breakfast was most mornings– it’s fairly simple fare, but it’s cooked and seasoned well and they give you a good variety to make up for it not being the standard all you can eat you typically receive It also changes each morning, so you’re not just eating the same thing constantlyThe rooms are the biggest gap, but while old (not even having electronic locks) they were clean and the bed and pillows weren’t terrible The biggest issue for me was really the AC, which was the old style in room variety and thus noisy, constantly running and cycling between very cold air and room temperature For the price compared to nearby hotels it was more or less what I expected I stayed at the very beginning of spring break so I did experience the fact that the noise in corridors is clear in the rooms tooOverall though a decent stay

Yesenia Martinez

Love this place Breakfast next door, The elevator is kind of scary If you go you’ll understand what I’m talking about

Unfortunately this hotel does not have parking and there’s barely any street parking but there is a garage down the street that you can park the car and they charge about $20 fee overnight parking But its nice , peaceful place to stay

All I can say is the staff is wonderful! Everything is immaculate The amount of people working at this hotel is great! They have everything you need and will do anything to make sure you are comfortable Yes it is a Hampton Inn so some of the decorations in the room are a little older but the cleanliness is amazing

The beds are super comfortable The pool area is very nice for being so close to the airport While it is more expensive than a mainland Hampton Inn, the value you get and service is well worth it The breakfast buffet was one of the best managed I have seen as far as keeping things up and never having anything look out of place Extremely well managed Hampton Inn! I even used the washers and dryers, and that area was immaculate too!

Travel Like a Type A

We only stayed here for 1 night before we checked into our rental house but we were pleasantly surprised by how nice this hotel was! We got in late after our flight and the complimentary breakfast was perfect to get our day started The staff kept it stocked & clean and they were very gracious with the bottles of water We spent the morning lounging by the pool that we almost had to ourselves

It was so so nice with plenty of loungers and outdoor furniture The swim up bar was really fun & we ordered lots of yummy drinks (the mojito & margarita being our favorites) After check out we wanted to walk around a little & the front desk was very accommodating by holding our bags for us during this time Highly recommend!

AC Cruze

I stayed 9 nights at this hotel, and we had an amazing experience They gave us room 125, which was all the way at the end, but to our surprise, it was really close to the pool and had was close to the parking lot at the back side of the hotel which made the coming and going much easier and quicker All the staff was extremely friendly and helpful

The morning breakfast was wonderful and was always something new Parking lot was closed to the public which felt more secure Kids at lots of fund at the pool Will continue to book at this hotel everytime we visit San Juan! Loved our Stay!

The hotel was a good value for the price we paid The pool area was quite clean as were the rooms etc There were only very minor issues like the sliding door to the bathroom not functioning correctly and it appeared to be condensation dripping from the window

Aside from the that the roles employees were all very friendly and attentive Rooms were made up halfway through the trip Location of the hotel is great It’s on a main road, right across the street from the beach and walking distance to restaurants, convenience stores, pharmacies and bars

Decent stay The rooms are pretty no-frills and not at all fancy, but it’s not bad for a quiet place to sleep while in Puerto Rico The lack of a 24 hour desk is quite inconvenient however, as we didn’t get to the hotel until after 11pm and our check-in was quite a hassle since it was handled by someone who doesn’t work the front desk

Showers have very little water pressure and the hot water is intermittent The doorknob to the bathroom was installed backwards, so you can pretty conveniently lock someone IN the bathroom, Quite expensive for what you get, but it wasn’t bad The hotel is also located in a gated community so deliveries/rideshares are somewhat unreliable

JOSE LUIS MOURA PINEIRO

They do not explain the policies of theestablishment, and in an extremely rude way In front of all the guests, they yell at you to draw your attention to the fact that you cannot bring a beach cooler into your room, to be used tomorrow, obviously on the beachThey do not have parking, you have to leave the vehicle away from the Hotel and leave your belongings such as the beach cooler

Unfortunately we started off on the wrongfoot and I have 2 more days left, we will keep reporting Don’t waste your time and money

TTBLNK

It’s a shame that maintenance is not a word that Hosteria owners and management have in their vocabulary This property has the potential to be the perfect cozy, luxurious, ocean front guest house but instead it’s crumbling, rusty, low maintained, declining, not to mention lack of housekeeping and rude servers at the restaurant We stayed at Hosteria del Mar for 6 nights early June, starting with a late check-in processed by a weird employee, who kept talking about masks not working to avoid covid, his “military service” in Ukraine, and insisting he’s not a front desk employee, but the accountant instead

Super early check-out was unfortunately handled by the same individual, who after having to call the facility several times, finally showed up at the front desk… maybe we woke him up???The room what a joke! Windows are broken, letting heat and humidity in 24/7 A/C was cranked up at 62 degrees Fahrenheit for the whole stay and it was still warm and humid inside Balcony is filthy, only 2 cheap dirty chairs out there, next to the noisy and heat producing A/C outside unit Inside the room the floor was dirty, furniture was flimsy, bed linens on uncomfortable beds were stained Electrical outlets barely worked or sparked when plugging in a phone charger The bathroom was dark, ants crawling all over the vanity countertop, the shower doesn’t have a barrier to stop water from flowing on the floor all the way to the sink, so the floor mat got ridiculously soaked!!! Towels were OK, though, but only 2 bath towels, 1 hand towel and 1 wash towel were provided Only 1 cheap, stinky bar soap was provided – we had to buy our own soap No tissues provided – we had to buy our own box of Kleenex Only 1 toilet paper roll provided – we had to buy our own toilet paper Wouldn’t we had requested clean towels around day 4, they wouldn’t had replaced them Same with trash removal Parking is scarce around the property The restaurant we only went there for our first breakfast It was deserted and had to ask the front desk clerk to call for a server We just went in and picked an empty table only to make the rude server mad, telling us that the table was reserved – he just pulled out a piece of paper with an “R” on it that was hiding under the salt dispenser so we moved to the table next to it the rude server requested us not to sit on the chair closer to the “reserved” table, due to covid restrictions we ended up paying $50+ for eggs, toast and super small, cold cup of coffee, and no one ever showed up for the “reserved” table The same rude server yelled at us from the inside of the property later during our stay, to tell us not to park behind his car or we would get a “$2,000” fine We’re going back to PR in August, and will stay at Numero Uno Beach House instead, which we just discovered when walking 3 blocks from Hosteria, to get access to the beach Hopefully we’ll have a more pleasant stay over there – wait for reviews… 😊

Our stay here was fantastic Customer service top notch 10 points for cleanliness

Martin from the Banyan Tree Grill was amazing! Had one of the best cocktails hands down! Thanks for the great service Will definitely be returning! A point to note- we booked the ocean view king room booked, but the tower part of the property only has rooms with partial ocean view

Briana Knox

Our stay at this hotel was fantastic in all respects! The atmosphere, the service, the cleanliness, the pool and beach amenities, just everything was amazing I honestly wish we spent at least one more day in PR just to spend at the hotel Everything was top notch, but I was really blown away by the level of professionalism and friendliness from all the staff members

And our room was spotless from beginning to end, which is super important to me I don’t understand some of the negative reviews; I can’t wait to come back and stay again!

-Overall the stay was good and the hotel/bar/casino staff were helpful and nice-My wife and I stayed here for our first vacation out of state since the start of Covid, needless to say, we were excited to go We arrived for our 6 night, 7 day stay on a Thursday around noon and found that our room was ready which was great

The room booked was a “Deluxe Balcony 1 King” and is described as being “Located on Floor 3 in the Grand Tower, these guest rooms feature a sitting area and a private balcony” I would call this a bit of a stretch When we got to our room we noticed a hint of cigarette smoke that seemed to be coming from the vent, I opened the “balcony” door to find that we had a small tiled sitting area encased by a 7ft tall wall you could not see over without climbing onto the sitting area After leaving for a bit to get food, we returned to the same smoke odor but we were too tired to deal with it that night from traveling The next day after leaving the room for a bit we returned to a stronger smoke smell which made us call down to the front desk, this initiated a back and forth which lasted a few hours trying to come up with a resolution that ranged from spraying air freshener(not a fix) to swapping rooms to across the hall with no view or “balcony” for the same rate(not a fix) to our final solution of a slight upgrade which placed us in a junior suite-Like other reviewers have stated, during our 6 night stay we lost power in the room 14 times No real explanation was given for the power loss but we were there during a several storms that dropped a significant amount of rain-The food and beverage prices were quite high based on the quality and quantity provided Like others have stated, service was typically slow not only at this resort but around the island overall-In summary, this hotel was nice but did not seem worth the price or headaches while on a vacation I would most likely not return

The lobby and rooftop were very nice The rest of the hotel we experienced was very dated We had 4 rooms, all about the same quality which was not really an upscale experience for the price

Staff was great Always very accommodating Fernando was one of the front desk staff I encountered while I was there He was the best! Great location to the beach Overall it was a good experience, but will probably stay somewhere else next time

Nicole Hawkins

I wanted to celebrate my birthday on the beach and this was a great place to do it! The rooms themselves need renovation (3 out of 5 stars) but I was only in the room to sleep The restaurants and roof top lounge were wonderful! The staff and service deserve 5 stars The service began with the digital concierge texting me a few days prior to my stay

It was a very helpful service that answered many of my questions with prompt response times Upon arrival and during my stay, the staff where very helpful and accommodating Great location steps away from the beach and plenty to do in the area Would definitely stay again

cynthia Mueller

Well, my visit started off bad as soon as we arrived I had booked through a travel agent a room with 2 double beds for my daughter and I They gave us a room with one king size bed

When I tried to change it the hotel manager said that they didn’t have anything else available at that time but she could probably provide us with a room with a full bed and pull out sofa the next day That was fine As long as they fixed their wrong That never happened Also, per their advertisements, the room was to have a refrigerator and microwave which it did not They were also supposed to provide a continental breakfast which they did not, and please do not believe the pictures they show of the hotel The pool area does is very small and does not have chairs Their are beanbag chairs and they are not white as the pictures show Eventhough the rooftop restaurant is pricey, they have the best food and cocktails ever The wait staff and bartender’s are awesome That is the best part of the hotel Besides the room being wrong, it wasn’t a bad stay You just have to adjust to some things when you weren’t expecting to The staff was super nice and friendly

Absolutely loved staying at this hotel! definitely made you feel at home especially with the hotel cat 😻 I saw some negative reviews on here but we didn’t have any issues people have had the whole week me & my boyfriend stayed here it’s close by to everything & there was two specific women at the front desk were so helpful with telling us good places to eat, etc yes it’s close to the airport so you can hear every plane take off & land but i just wore ear plugs when i went to sleep

people will complain about every & anything! this place was great

Matthew S

I want to give this hotel a better review because the building, garden and location nearby to the seafront are superb but there were a couple of issues with my stayFirstly, there is a termite infestation throughout the main building I had them in my bedroom, bathroom and got bitten badly

Worse, they were all over the kitchen and even inside the fridge that was used to prepare breakfastSecondly, the breakfast is poor quality and not very varied If you don’t eat scrambled eggs there’s no other option Just a few small pieces of toast with the same jam every day and if you’re lucky some rice and beans The gallo pinto (rice/beans) was cooked up in a big batch and then re-heated in a microwave for the next 4 days The typical Costa Rican breakfast is very simple but if this hotel wants to appeal to international tourists a little more effort needs to be made There were some vegan/gluten free visitors there during my stay who had to go with nothing except tea/coffee and juice for breakfastThe pool area and garden is really nice and it’s 5min walk from the beach frontThere’s a great seafood restaurant just around the cornerIt is a long walk from the town centre along a busy road I didn’t mind this as I’m used to plenty of exercise but some people might get tired and will have to rely on taxis

I stayed here 5/11/22 to 5/16/22Those that don’t wanna read- no elevator and no phone in the room, close to everythingMore detailed review belowRecommended for minimalist and non needy people

Also, for someone not looking to stay a long time Also, those not looking to spend alot of time in the roomPros – Cheap, walking distance to beach, very close to airport, wifi works great, bed comfortable, cvs and restaurants are in walking distance The pool was great There was a refrigerator in the room and a microwave in the lobby The hotel staff was 5 stars! They were kind, friendly and very helpfulCon – No elevator You have to go to the front desk and ask for the most basic things that are normally already in hotel rooms Example: No iron, no blow dryer, no ice bucket, no small regular wash cloths (which they did not have at all when we went to ask) However, four of the things we asked for they had 3 of them at the front desk Because of how close the airport is you can hear the planes taking off, the noise is VERY LOUD You can hear everything going on outside the hotel from your room and it sounds like someone is going into your room when they are going their own roomMore detailsThis is a get what you pay for hotel This is one the most affordable hotels in the area BUT it is a old hotel, it is NOT your average hotel They have no key card to open you door, they use a real key They don’t even have a phone in the room So if you need something you have to walk downstairs to get it You can’t request things like most hotels and have it brought to you It is very basic When flushing the toilet you have to actually hold it down the whole time while flushing or it won’t flush

Super fun hotel!! Steps from the beach, pool and jacuzzi They have an elegant dining area with a bar inside and outside The casino is fun and we hit a couple hundred on the slots

They have a gift shop and a nice lounge to wait in on arrival or departure I also saw several people using their laptops there I booked through a second party and the only option was 2 queen beds While checking in they immediately found us a room with a king bed on a floor we preferred We didn’t even ask them, they asked us The room was very nice with a small refrigerator and a microwave The room was clean and the bathroom was well stocked We definitely enjoyed our stay there and the employees were super friendly and helpful We can’t wait to go back!!

I’m leaving this location a two-star rating not because of the people who work there but because of what I gather to be a value for my money based upon the overall experience of just the hotel All of the staff did an excellent job however I found that the cost of this location versus what you received in terms of amenities were not in alignment in my opinion My room cost varied from just over $200 to almost $400 during this day depending upon the day

On top of that they were charging an additional 34 or $35 for a resort fee which based upon the amenities we received should have not been charged The rooms have been recently renovated although there were still some minor issues they really didn’t affect anything other than my overall thoughts on quality for the renovation We spent quite a bit of time at the pool area and the pool bar which in my opinion was probably the best time we spent there along with the breakfast in the morning The food for breakfast was good The wait staff at the bar did an excellent job However the dinner there regarding seafood was poor quality and very little quantity and I was suggest you skip dinner at this location at their restaurant There is also no shuttle from this hotel to and from the airport which considering the amount of money we paid I found to be very odd and one of the reasons for this low hotel rating Some positive aspects were the beach and again the people who worked at the hotel did an excellent job I’m fairly certain that I would not stay here again but I might consider it if I see some changes in the hotel pricing as well as the resort fee

Beautiful, updated resort! Great location on the beach and near local eateries Resort food was overpriced and underwhelming Very nice staff

Shower door didn’t latch closed, and pillows were so uncomfortable to us Balcony too small to even have chairs on but gorgeous views Gorgeous grounds, well kept Didn’t feel crowded on the premises, and not too many kids to disturb our couples trip Quiet in the halls and room Would go back!

I have 4 stars for the room because it smelled like pee to me and our BR sink was cloggedup The overall ocean view was gorgeous and the room service and staff were exceptional

Our stay at the O:live was a dream come true! The aromatic entry was amazing to walk into and the atmosphere felt so relaxing, romantic, eclectic and unique The front desk staff was exceptional! Vincent, along with two young ladies at the front desk were so kind to suggest local hot spots as well as helped book us a car rental when we got in a last minute bind Hands down some of the best costumer service we have had in a long time

Our room was very clean and the bed was so comfortable! I couldn’t say enough positive things about this beautiful hotel We also did the roof top couples massage and it was lovely The only (and I mean ONLY) let down was that the stone tub did not get hot enough to actually soak in and it took a while to fill up Never the less worth the stay! We will be back!

Dani Szafran-Reeder

My husband and I came here for our delayed honeymoon because we got married during COVID lockdown, and we already are making plans to come back The hotel is so clean and beautiful, and the people working there were incredibly hospitable The level of detail that they take care of to make sure you enjoy your stay shouldn’t go unnoticed

We had the Mediterranean Oasis suite and I never wanted to leave!

Josh Vega (Josh Vega)

The hotel is beautiful and the staff are great but we had a few issues… We specifically booked the romantic room with the hot tub but it turns out the water isn’t hot and you have to fill it up yourself with a hose which takes hours I tried to fill it up after a night out and it just took to long so it killed the vibe Third night I asked the staff to fill it up for us so it would be ready when we got back but it was only filled up a quarter of the way (possible leak)

Also our AC unit kept turning off on its own so I had to wake up at least 8 times a night to turn it back on
