The people were very friendly I really liked the front desk staff However, housekeeping never came once when I was there all week, not even to empty the trash cans or give fresh towels

The gym was a joke, half the dumbbells were missing, there were zero mats, etc The room was just ok It’s my understanding there is renovation going on, so some of these issues may be resolved in the future, but if they are under renovation, they should have discounted their rates to reflect that

Robert Deguzman

My mini fridge didn’t work, had no cable in my room, and yes I brought it up to the front desk clerk, maintenance will take care of that as soon as they get in, guess what after spending a whole day training with my company and then we all went out to dinner pretty much didn’t get back to the hotel till about 10:00 maybe close to 11:00 and guess what everybody everything was still broke and my room wasn’t even made the towels that I used for the floor after taking a shower we’re still there The three stars I gave was because it is generally and nice looking hotel but when it comes to issues with hotel guests I do believe they should be a priority because a happy guess as a returning guest am I right I think I amOh and just in case the room that nobody came to fix is 232 but don’t take my word for it come experience it for yourself

Anna May

I will never stay at Aloft in Soho Square ever again My family used them for a hotel block for my wedding this past weekend The service was AWFUL!!! We did not receive the correct rooms we paid for, Kelsey (with marketing and heads up all communication) never returned a single phone call or email regarding booking the conference room space, the bartender did not even know how to make a vodka tonic, and if you speak with Shannon at the front desk she will probably make you cry with her impolite attitude, her eye rolls, and sassy remarks

I wouldn’t want anyone to experience the horrible service we received on the most exciting/special weekends of our lives

I was pleasantly surprised at what a nice hotel this turned out to beIt was a great price when everywhere else in Alabama was charging $200 a nightThe room was very clean, smelled fresh and the bed was quite comfortable!I’ll definitely be staying again

The decor was also very nice and the wooden floors were elegantVery impressed Highly recommend you stay if you’re price conscious, but want a nice, clean room

Ken Nuss

Girls at check in we’re great, check out this morning not so great I asked for my receipt & if someone would look at the room so I’d get my deposit back right then, she said “don’t work like that” , the maid would inspect the room when she gets to it & then they’d put it back on my card I INSISTED “no, I want my receipt to show I got my deposit back because I stay at red roof 200 times a year & would like to be treated like that person

I live 3 states away & am not gonna fight over the phone to get my money back She them realized “they didn’t charge me a deposit” so it worked out great but she didn’t like it I could tell Everything about my stay was PERFECT up to this point, hopefully this issue gets straightened out with management A deposit is supposed to be refunded IMMEDIATELY the motel is beautiful though

Sara Covert

Bad experience We headed to the area to go to Barber and just needed a place to sleep at night We checked in on Friday and when we first arrived we were surprised by how neat/clean the room looked

We slept well, but when I came out of the shower in the morning I saw a bed bug crawling across the pillow on the bed I immediately gathered our things and informed the front desk The woman working was very nice and asked if we would like to be refunded or if we would like a new room We chose to leave for another hotel They ended up only refunding one of our nights so essentially we still paid for staying there Friday night About 10 bites appeared on my thigh and elbow the next day Just disgusting First and absolute last time I will ever stay at a Red Roof Inn

Some of these negative reviews are surprising! We stayed here two nights w a young child Everyone I’ve come in contact w has been courteous, warmly friendly, informative The three of us have all been very comfortable here

Our room wasn’t completely spotless but staff was happy to meet any of our requests Bigger room than the hotel across the street SO happy to see waffles back! My only suggestion is I would have love to have a banana or two with breakfast 🤗 Exceptional staff Truly has made us feel welcome and comfortable

Jessica Edwards

DO NOT stay here!!! There was mold on the ceiling In the bathroom The room had not been cleaned at all Theresa’s, what looked like fecal matter on the walls of the tub, hair in the sink, makeup applicator on the bar

there was hair all over the sheets for the pull out couch Breakfast was awful, there was mold floating in the water 🤮 what little warm food they had was burnt and soaking in oilWe can’t get Choice Hotels on the phone to request a refund This place is NASTY Just don’t!

BriAnne Glover

Checked in for 1 night while we were traveling Got there about 9:30 pm The clerk wasn’t super friendly, but they at least spoke to us

Took the elevator to the 3rd floor and when we opened the door to our room it smelled so bad like mildew!! My husband immediately turned down the ac and we had to spray perfume to make it smell aven remotely ok When we checked out the next morning the clerk on duty came out of the back after a few minutes looking like we woke her up My husband tried speaking to her and she never said 1 word to us She did snap at the gentleman that was looking to see what the breakfast would look like She very rudely told him breakfast wasn’tuntil 7 My husband told her to have a good day and she didn’t even acknowledge him Just plain rude!!

When checking in I was asked to initial and sign the agreement about a $20 incidentals hold on my credit card, smoke free mandate, etc I asked for a copy of the agreement, since I was required to sign it, and was told that I could not have a copy of it by the employee and manager I explained that I wanted a copy because it contained my signature on the agreement and the manager politely did ask me to wait a minute while she consulted with the General Manager (GM) who was there

The GM approved for the manager to make me a copy I offered to pay for the copy, but was told it was not needed Otherwise, the hotel appears to be newly built, is located near convenience stores, pharmacy and grocery store It also has a pleasant smell

The stay wasn’t bad The staff was friendly The breakfast was alright

The hotel needs some updating, hence the 4 out of 5My phone call to book the room was the most horrible experience ever I think they use a third party, at least for when they’re busy If this review was only based on that, I would give it zero stars When I was done w the phone call I was angry and exhausted They took 15 minutes and kept trying to get me to sign up for a bunch of things Plus they were super pushy and when I asked how much the room rate was she made me listen to a whole spiel for 7 minutes before she would give me the price I can’t explain it, you just have to call at a busy time and see for yourself

Betsy Duffy

Read the reviews prior to booking THEY ARE LIES Do NOT book this hotel

1 The room door handle came off in our hand2 The air conditioner leaked all over the floor (3rd floor) Yes The floor under the air conditioner was saturated and we witnessed water dripping down the cord We worried about mold3 Dirty bedspread and holes in the blankets4 The hallway carpets are FILTHY5 The room, hallway, and elevator smelled like smoke6 Mold in the ice machine Obviously we did not useThe kicker was…when we nicely went back to the desk and asked for a different room and listed off the issues the owner was summonsed and stated before we could be given another room she had to see how much of the room we had used WE HAD JUST CHECKED IN!We did not have time to change hotels as we only had one half hour to spare until we were due at the Miss Alabama competitionSeriously Save yourself Do NOT book this hotel

We love staying at this hotel This was our 3rd stay here My family and I were in town for my graduation

We did not use many of the amenities this time, but we have used the fitness area and breakfast bar in the past and loved them We would stay here again The location is the perfect distance from UAB schools The rooms have always been clean Our parents are still raving about the comfort level of the mattress and pillows

Jake Lindow

I booked this hotel largely due to loyalty to the Hilton brand and the strong reviews, and feel obligated to post to warn other travelers This hotel is by NO means worth of anything close to four stars While the hotel is very much “fine” it leaves much to be desired and is by no means worthy of the price tag Hilton places on what is supposedly their “flagship” property in the city

The rooms and decor are dated, and equivalent to a Hampton Inn but double the price The seemingly dumb but surprisingly most impactful negative about the property was the PILLOWS They are effectively as thin as paper once you lay your head on them, and no other pillows are available at the hotel Beyond sleeping with a thin piece of paper as a pillow, the sheets or itchy and might be 50 thread count max, and the A/C was set to 74 when we arrived so the room was sweltering hot No breakfast or snacks are provided regardless of loyalty or rewards status, the coffee machine in the room looks like it came straight from goodwill with only one (terrible) coffee packet thing provided There is NO BODY WASH (???) provided only bars of hand soap, which was shocking in and of itself The CHERRY on top was housekeeping banging on the door at 8am waking us up and interrupt the little sleep we could get on the paper pillows in order to turnover the room, despite the noon checkout time All around one of the more atrocious experiences at a Hilton property and despite the convenient location, will not be one to which I return

Kassy McMichael

We checked in to our room which had the worst smoke smell I have a smoke allergy and immediately felt my eyes itching and watering so I called down to the front desk to ask if we could switch rooms They didn’t have many options and I know it wasn’t easy but she was able to move me to a different room on the same floor and I feel like it was a big upgrade

It was a corner room (and handicap accessible) so it was spacious It didn’t have the smoke smell and it was cleanWe only stayed one night passing through town but not sure I would stay downtown again The walk-ability to restaurants/bars is good lots of options However the street noise is not good All night we could hear cars, people, music and sirensBreakfast was good but there was one lady (rosa maybe?) that was rude and condescending I don’t know what I did to offend her but she followed me around telling me what I did wrong every time I came up to get something No smiles or friendly demeanor whatsoeverParking is $15/night and you get one vehicle per room (small lot) so plan accordingly!

Clean and update rooms Staff is extremely friendly and kept asking if everything was to my satisfaction This was both at night during checkin and in the morning during checkout

A pleasure to deal with and would happily stay here again Would never stay down the street at the 2 Hilton brand hotels that was the worst experience of my life and only made better by how sweet and nice the staff here was Hotel was honestly cleaner and nicer as well

Joshua Johanning

It’s “okay” But I wouldn’t recommend the hotel as a Platinum/Titanium if you want hotel breakfast (or anyone else who might want to pay for it)The room was fine along with the internet

I thought my room felt a little damp with the wall AC not working as well, but it was livableMy two biggest complaints:- no breakfast first 2 days of my stay because the person hadn’t arrived – instead of using my $10 for a heated up breakfast sandwich I had to spend it on snacks I didn’t need- billed for breakfast when breakfast was open even though I had my $10 daily creditFollow-ups on requested items didn’t happen It’s okay, but perhaps try elsewhere

tom kandler

Completely dissatisfied My room was overpriced and dirty Hotels are saying they don’t do daily cleaning because it is taking longer when guests check out to ‘completely clean’ the rooms

Weren’t they doing that prior to COVID? They are also using the same excuse for not having complimentary coffee in the lobby, but they have put in mini coffee shops that you have to pay for I’ve learned my lesson and will look on AirBnB next time

Let me start by saying this was my first time staying at a place like this! When I pulled up I thought it was an apartment complex not a “hotel” per say! But it was nice and perfect for a family trip The staff that we came in contact with our first night there for check in were AMAZING I can’t remember her name but she just started recently! She was bubbly and very sweet and made me excited to get a room there But the staff the next day not so much! Our shower was TERRIBLE! The shower head was broken all the way off and the water shot out with very high pressure and it was crooked!! It was pretty rough and when I brought it up at the desk I was told by the change of staff that all they could do was tell maintenance about it

That was the sour part of the trip! Besides that everything else was fine

Tiffany Manes

The room was not cleaned from the people before us Trash in the trash can, skid marks in the toilet, and beds not made up We showed up with 4 tired kids I made up the beds myself and just dealt with it for the night

Too tired to make a fuss, but I had to write a review to warn others Also the locks on the door were broken The deadbolt didn’t work and the top bar lock was broken off, so we slept with a chair under the doorknob and the couch pushed up against it We got the 2 bedroom suite for $100 The beds were very comfortable The front desk was very nice when we checked in There is no breakfast though so don’t count on that

Tokyo Blues Man

Booked a room for my boss that came from Japan on my credit card Then, when I checked him in, my boss presented his credit card and told the clerk to charge his credit card and not mineWell, what do you know! They charged his room on both of our credit cards – they double charged us!I called and requested them to reimburse/credit my card and the same clerk said “no problem”

A month later, it was never credited So, I called again and they gave me a run-around So, I had to call the head office And they gave me a run-around, too So, I had to deal with my credit card company, and by then, they told me it was too late to do anything about itI used to refer this hotel to all of the people visiting from Japan but NO MORE I will NOT use this hotel ever again!

Not my type of hotel just can to visit a relative at this hotel and I ended up stay a night the room is okay size for a family The cleaning wasn’t up to my liking and the bathroom looks to have mold on the walls Most likely it came from moisture because the hot water is actually really hot with good water pressure

Pool is on the outside of hotel okay sizes for kids to play in They gym lol is a closet size I didn’t try any food or the service Like I said I was just visiting not my type of place and also the location is pretty good you will be right by the freeway and Walmart, movie theatre and places to eat is right up the street

Very nice hotel near UAB hospital and several restaurants The suites are roomy and clean They feature a kitchenette with a mid size refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave and sink

There’s a sitting area with a small sofa and desk The beds are on the far end of the room Plenty of storage throughout the room These are a great choice for an extended stay The hotel also has a terrific grilling area with gas grills, a pool, a bar, a restaurant, and a fitness center I would highly recommend this hotel

I have been employed with Hilton in the past and have enjoyed working dual property Hampton’s in Tuscaloosa, AL for 3 years I applied for the Night Auditor position the last week in Feb and was hired on 02/23/22 (terminated on 04/29/2022)

The Assistant General Manager, Marcus Gordon, called me at 9:00 pm on a Sunday evening to schedule an interview That was the first red flag but I needed employment so I did not make it a huge deal I was employed at this property for 90 days before being wrongfully terminated The General Manager, Karen Jacob, fired me about 30 minutes shy of 3:00pm after working a night audit shift that morning The management team at this property is defective and below par to say the least There is no communication between the team members and management and it shows In the 3 months that I was hired here not 1 of the employees from any department had ANYTHING nice to say about Karen There has been multiple accusations of stealing of money by management and maintenance from numerous staff members I experienced 3 different encounters of theft of my personal items while being employed at this location The GM does not directly deal with confrontation, she doesn’t come out of her office and will literally, deliberately ignore guests concerns and allow her phone to ring with no intentions of answering The management team at this property portrays a facade of concern and compassion for their team members but that is most certainly not the case Marcus, the assistant GM, faithfully gossips about team members and constantly makes jokes about terminating members of the staff I would never in a million years recommend working at this property to my worst enemy If I could leave anything lower than 1 star I would leave the rating in the negative

The room was very clean I was disappointed that they didn’t serve a free breakfast and they didn’t offer coffee in the lobby throughout the day The coffee maker in the room did not work but then when I was able to pour water through it it was nasty

It was like dirty and nastyThat was very comfortable The room was very nice I would stay here again anytime

999% of the employees were super friendly and nice Wasn’t too excited about the waitress, but she was they only one, and was quite busy, so I understood and won’t complain

The waffle I ordered was undercooked, but again, I didn’t complain Was disappointed that there was no continental breakfastThere was no hand soap of any kind in our bathroom Wasn’t happy about thatWhen checking out, my husband had a couple minor complaints about not having enough towels or pillows The lady at the desk said that they didn’t realize that there was more than 1 guest in that room, since there was only 1 name on the card Uhm WHAT? Really? When I made the reservation, I specifically said it was for 3 adults and 1 child That’s why I had to pay extra More people Overall, not really happy I expected more from the name Hilton It was ok But still everyone was super nice and friendly and helpful

Very good people and wonderful food at the restaurant Otherwise: we can hear the people next door to our room and they are just taking at a normal volume, the front doors to the hotel aren’t electric, so they make it hard to enter with luggage and don’t comply with the ADA and you are never greeted by the staff when you arrive back at the hotel PS: the coffee is very bitter

Not coming back

The hotel is really nice and I enjoyed my stay up until checkout day I was sleeping so peaceful when all of a sudden I was rudely awaken by a 915 am knock on the door from housekeeping!!! Why????? This is so tacky to have housekeeping knock on doors!! I know when to checkout!!! Now I have a pounding headache because of this rude awakening!!!

It first of all started with amazing Customer service when we arrived on Friday I wish I could remember his name but he was so kind and helpful I had my seven-year-old daughter with me and he catered to her as she was the one paying

He made sure she knew where the pool was and then put us in a room overlooking the pool so she could see it, then gave her the key to hold, and just made us feel welcomed The breakfast was delicious, especially the scrambled eggs The room was so clean and perfect for what we needed The room was quiet, the air conditioning was amazing and cold We slept like babies The entire staff from front desk, housekeeping, breakfast and check out was great The hallways smelled so clean and fresh The only SMALL complaint was the toilet seat was too small for the toilet which was very weird We will 100 percent stay there again

We had a wonderful stay here This is the closest hotel to Barber Motorsports Park The staff were friendly, polite, and helpful

There is hot coffee and hot water (for tea or cocoa) in front of the front counter all day long The breakfast available was simple: scrambled eggs, sausage links/patties, oatmeal, muffins, bagels, yogurt, and make your own waffles The perfect way to start your day before hitting the track

Steve Lacol

The staff was top notch, the property is Class A, everything worked, breakfast was greatBut the real show stopper was the front desk manager, Lakisha, who just beamed hospitality and went out of her way, in every way, to make it a great stay DEFINITELY COMING BACK

This is the cleanest hotel we have ever stayed at!! The indoor pool was closed due to the pump being out That’s the only thing I can say that was disappointing But the hot tub was open

The rooms are large, they have a decent breakfast I do like the fact that no pets are allowed unlike many other Marriott properties I’m allergic to pet hair So this was refreshing I could breathe!!! Will most definitely stay here again!!

I wouldn’t call this an exceptional Marriott hotel I didn’t have any Shampoo and Conditioner in my room I caught a member of housekeeping in the hall and the gentleman who’s name I did not catch had an exceptional attitude and great personality and promptly delivered both items to my room

The front desk upon arrival and departure were pleasant, welcoming, and friendly The breakfast cook was a little grumpy but, from my days of food delivery to Marriott Hotels, this was somewhat commonThe elevator floor had a broken tile and missing grout which is something I’m not used to seeing in a Marriott hotel but life happensI would still rate my overall experience 5 stars Courteous staff, clean room, clean gym, clean swimming pool and hot tub areas Applebee’s happy hour, Lowe’s, and a Convenience store next door were all plus’s

The association with Way Parking was misrepresented Fairfield Inn Airport Parking lends to being located near airport It is actually 13 miles from airport

Advertised free shuttle to airport which was no longer available but didnt know until actually chech in no parking attentant onrequested refund was turned down because policy says have to cancel before check in date makes me wonder about other services in hotel as well as Way parkingproperty
