Beautiful lobby and a classic hotel I stayed here for a few days for a work meeting and was very impressed with the hotel The lobby is beautiful and takes you back to another time

The staff were all very nice and quick to help I had a corner room and it was quite large and very nice All the furniture was very comfortable and very clean The windows also opened which was great to enjoy the beautiful weather The hotel does have a restaurant and I enjoyed multiple breakfasts, all were very good and made exact to order Overall I was very impressed and would definitely recommend and come back again

Brianna Bowles

Pros: Hotel had a timeless beauty to it that was lovely All of the people working there were welcoming and accommodatingCons: Stayed here prior to and the night after surgery to recover and the tempurpedic beds were not comfortable at all, it was rough

There were small parts of the room that weren’t entirely clean when we arrived (floor, sink,)Would stay here again but would 100% request a pillow top rather than memory foam mattress

Ian Taber

A huge thank you to The Benson! They got us a great room for our wedding night on very short notice and was very welcoming to us after our nuptials The front desk staff was always gracious and happy to congratulate us We both slept well and woke up wilt views of Mount St

Hellens We both recommend The Benson to those looking for a luxurious hotel in the downtown Portland area! Thanks again!

One of the best Best Western I’ve stayed in The hotel is very clean and the staffs are friendly The beds are comfortable and bathrooms are clean

We booked the two bed-room suite and was very happy with the layout and how spacious everything was Free coffee in the front lobby is a winI would definitely stay here again when I’m back in town There was free breakfast but due to lack of staff, we received McDonald’s voucher for breakfast Can’t say I can have that for 5 days straight 😏

Mariah West

Absolutely the worst stay! Very upset with how we were treated in dealing with our reservation!I was quoted one thing over the phone and sent and email and paid a different price than quote When my family tried to check in they were told they couldn’t find the reservationWe left for the day and asked for our room to be cleaned and it was not

They advertise breakfast which is also not trueOver all this was a waste of money and truly put a huge frustration on our tripIf you’re looking for a place to stay that cares They simply do notAdvise to anyone looking Don’t waste your time or money here It’s absolutely unnerving how rude they are!

Molly Anderson

I had a wonderful stay Ireland and Amy were so kind and knowledgeable of the area and they both made this stay excellent! The room was beautiful, comfortable, quiet, and clean – keep up the great work! I will definitely be staying here if I’m back in the area!

The hotel was a little difficult to find Apple Maps took us to the back side of the hotel All of the staff was very helpful and friendly

This hotel is in a good location with lots of things within walking distance The room was nice and clean and quiet Valet parking is an additional charge so keep that in mind while booking You are able to text the valet or dial 0 to have your car brought around when you are ready to leave which is a nice touch They have a QR code on the key envelope which lists all the things within walking distance as well as a menu of a place that does room service

Salina Piddington

Amazing stay Completely pet friendly, NO hidden pet fees, no weight limits, no breed restrictionsWe felt right at home

No funky smells Pet friendly restaurant patio Pet friendly walking pathsComfortable bed and pillows Good water pressure No road noise No sketchy drifters, which is rare for some areas of Portland these daysOther hotels claimed to be pet friendly, but when I called about pet fees because the booking was nonrefundable, it was $30 per dog at another hotel! Which would’ve made the room over 2x as expensive as I had 3 dogs with me

Piggy Pine

Lovely hotel by the river Is perfect to explore Portland The room was great

The view is of the marina, but also the bridges spanning the river – so a little noise from there Some good restaurants nearbyThe reason I removed a star for service is because not one member of staff in reception said good morning (or anything) as we walked through – even though we said it to them So our only interaction was check in and check out – efficient but not uber friendlyThe housecleaning crew, however, were lovely

j spain Greene

I stayed in 217, which was at the end of a hall It was large, with a peek a boo view of the river & one of the bridgesVery comfortable Queen bed, very clean

The bathroom was enormous with a standard style shower/tub combination There was a hide a bed, and actually enough room to open it and move comfortably, if neededThe restaurant is solid and has a good bar if you prefer to stay on premisesTwo things that knocked it down for me:-Hidden fees-Dour front desk person – I kept dealing with the same person, and they just made me feel unwelcome I asked a friend who was with me when I checked in if I was imagining it and she said, no – there was a weird vibe The desk person said all the right things but there was something perfunctory about them – it was over the course of 3 days, and there was never a lineso I don’t know Left a weird impressionAlso – if you are not from the area – I went a mark down on location only because it can be difficult to navigate in and out of the River area generally It’s beautiful though!!!

Dan Reamer

This place was fantastic I like to stay at more independent hotels and we picked this place because of the great reviews I see why the reviews were so great; this hotel pays attention to the details! The complimentary breakfast was incredible with a different menu every day

The hotel room was spacious and even had a leather couch The indoor pool and hot tub were also great They even had cookies every night in the grand lobby which was a nice touch I would highly recommend this place!

Daisy Maya

The grand has a beautiful grand entrance and just steps inside is a large living room area With several small intimate seating areas to sit and visit They have complimentary coffee bar as well

The rooms are spacious and well appointed My room had a king bed, couch and desk Many plug-ins and electronics plug ins too The bathroom was big and nicely done with wall paper and granite counter tops The shower was stand alone and a bit tight fit, but the shower head was a rain one and I loved that I am not much of a bath person The tub was very shallow and average length So if you wanted a soak, I think you would be disappointed For a quick bath with kiddos it would be perfect The bathroom floor tile had pops of fancy pretty tiles to break up the plain tile I loved the pops of color and design In room coffee maker did not use plastic cups, loved that!!!! I try hard to avoid plastic My room also had mini refrigerator and cabinet with drawers, suitcase rack and hair dryer Being so close to the highway was not a problem, well insulated from the noise of the highway Walking distance to Bridgeport Mall and all it has to offer The only down side to my room was the view out the window There was a roof and then a 2 foot strip of surface that had vents and such All the black and green moss and such was not pretty to look at, personally I would definitely stay here again

Ben Callantine

We recently used there meeting room to hold my moms memorial It went off without a hitch Communication with Erica was fantastic

The front desk staff were very accommodating when we needed any extra things as well We were even able to get into the room a day early to set things up and not be rushed the morning of the celebration They were able to reconfigure the room as our rsvp list was over 60 people My mom was there in spirit and I know she would have loved the celebration for her Thank you grand hotel staff

Michael Simon

Great location in the heart of Portland!I was a bit concerned as others pointed out that the area around the hotel wasn’t too safe Didn’t see that at all, sure there’s some problems like every other major city but I wasn’t concerned at all once thereThe rooms and location were great

The hotel’s decor was nice The room was large, bright, and the beds comfortable Wasn’t a fan of the pillows though, and after 2 nights and 3 tries at getting firm ones, the ones they finally brought weren’t really betterThe M Lounge for elite members was open, and it had breakfast which was decent It did not however serve drinks at night or have any kind of Happy Hour they usually have This was disappointing as I specifically asked prior to booking about the lounge The hotel used the catch all excuses of “Covid” on why they haven’t started that back up yet

Joe Vraneza

I enjoyed the way they completely remade this older hotel into a vibey modern hang-out destination The whole hotels’ design induces a relaxed mentality the restaurant on the property did a good job of having an accessible menu at a reasonable price with some delicious tasting food and drinkThe location is right in the middle of where you’d want to be within easy walking distance of many of the best restaurants in town

The front desk staff and restaurant personnel I encountered were all top-notch professionalsThe rooms were small but nicely appointed and were perfect for me on a business trip I would definitely stay here again

Jesse

Such a great experience The staff saw we had a family and put us in a bigger room When we requested service they left it at the door so it didn’t wake the babies

The rooms were nice and clean The waiting area was nice Parking was just a 1-2 minute walk to the front door Great experience I’ll stay here again when I visit Portland next

I arrived for a conference and the woman who checked me in was so quick, nice and professional I was able to check in early which I was not expecting Our lunch during our conference was great and the server had great customer service

The three men that helped me with valet were so friendly and quick I loved my room, it was very clean and comfortable I wish the shower had more pressure but everything else made up for it Check out was quick and easy and the manager was training two new hires with such patience As a manager in the hotel industry I was very happy with my stay and the entire staff The housekeepers I saw in the hallway were so friendly also Would highly recommend

Abby Rager

Wow, what an A+++ experience It’s rare that you walk into a hotel and feel SO genuinely welcomed by its representatives I was immediately greeted by Ava who provided an amazing customer experience at check-in — she was personable, precise, and kind

She was so savvy that she immediately tied my reservation to me based on some clothing indicators and took initiative to greet me by name before I even got to the desk! This hotel’s amenities, rooms, and location were all top-notch, but the people that work there were what really separated it from the many other Portland hotels I’ve stayed in The bartender RJ was fantastic as well Ava and team made the stay feel incredibly comfortable Just re-booked 2 nights for this week!

Rajasekhar Gundu

Tiny rooms but well maintained No water in room unless you ask for & nothing in room refrigerator food (they did mention at check-in though) and no dining option at all COVID really changed many businesses operating mechanism it seems so

Mini gym in basement, and a daily wine tasting experience at 5PM which I never managed to get a time slot in my calendar A good place to stay, but lot of scope to improve

We were in town as we were working the Tigard Festival and needed a place close by and clean We had exactly that It was very nice

The check in was easy, they put us in the room we requested without issues, and were very friendly The weekend was very quiet the hours we were there to sleep The amenities were very nice as well It’s what I’d expect from a Marriott

PTR

I usually love staying at Marriotts, but I did not find this one great on the inside- somewhat outdated Looks wonderful on the outsideMy TV did not work, no service, my clock had the wrong time, late into the night and early in the morning I could hear people walking upstairs and at 10 pm – 11 there was a party in the hallway and then into the room next door with lots of male voices

It stopped a little after 11 when I turned on my phone to listen to a video after not being able to sleepThe only reason why I gave it a 2star is because they gave me a slight discount when I reported that I had no TVcable service

Me and my friend went to this place last weekend and we had a wonderful experience staying here recommended by my friend’s mom We first get here and we were greeted by the associate and he helped us get our bags out and asked if we wanted to do the valet parking He even held the door open for us

He was wonderful for our 2 night stay and even remember us when we came back to the hotel several times The desk employee was also wonderful Elegant looking inside the place Wonderful stay! I will stay here again if I come to Portland again

Shirlene Kwan

I love the location because it’s central to everything but like many cities, there is a trickle of homeless population The staff is amazing and friendly The rooms are clean

Includes shampoo, conditioner and shower gel in large bottles (not the tiny one-use ones) which I’m grateful for Makeup remover and body lotion is also available Housekeeping is every other day We got here early morning and was able to check-in This is a small boutique hotel

Morticia Love Mansfield

We had an amazing stay and the staff really showed an incredible standard of customer serviceWe were traveling with an elderly disabled family member so they switched our room so that we would be in a room designated for disabilities, which made it easier for my mother to bathe They provided a shower chair for our room and had a wheelchair she was able to use so that she could enjoy the city and enjoy it she did

I would recommend their establishment a million times over Way to kill it guys!

Ok so where do I begin? Room window was left open so room was freezing when I arrived, Dusty so it’s terrible for those of us with allergies (It had me wheezy and sneezy all night EVEN on meds!) heater in room didn’t work, horrible parking experience, carpet in hotel smells old!!!! To say that this is a “4” star hotel, The hotel stay was a horrible horrible horrible experience! Will NOT recommend! Ever! I left sick after a 1 night stay! HORRIBLE

J. B.

Very interesting place Consider this before you go, examine architecture carefully before booking I liked the vibe and each corridor had something fascinating (because it appealed to me)

Don’t expect natural light filled areas and brightly colored walls Expect something rustic & more of a Your Grandfather’s Man Cave vibe Worked for me! See pics of the room, bathroom, & corner table Great service by the way from valet to front desk I took some time to explore, although the place was a little dead (covid, duh), it was fun Like I said, INTERESTING place for sure Go see

Jerod Beeson

The staff here REALLY know how to WOW with hospitality and competence! Stayed for my wife’s birthday, and from check-in to check-out, the folks at the front desk were extremely generous for her birthday, as well as helpful (going above and beyond) every time we had a question about the area or needed something The hotel is taking covid precautions very seriously and implementing smart and effective solutions to keep their guests safe Not to mention that the hotel was as beautiful as it was comfortable

Would give more stars if possible! We’ll definitely be back when in Portland again! Thanks guys!

My first hostel hotel experience and it was surprisingly pleasant! The rooftop was beautiful and cold The lobby was comfy and warm The drinks were all amazing

I tried different local wines, had some tea, and grabbed a cup of coffee the morning before my departure It was all short, sweet, and comfortable I’ll be visiting Portland more and hope to get a room there again Definitely 10/10

Niusha Tajvidi

I would go back and visit Portland just to stay at this hotel! The staff here are beyond incredible Upon arrival I had a lot of anxiety as I was a first time solo traveller and everyone there made me feel so safe Everyone there genuinely cares about you and your safety

The hotel offers an escort system if you feel unsafe at a location and you can even text the staff at anytime which was super helpful I stayed at a single room which meant I had to share a bathroom and I had some reservations about it before visiting but it exceeded all my expectations! The room and bathroom was honestly cleaner than at any hotel I have stayed at The cafe/restaurant in the lobby had amazing food (I had a chocolate chip cookie from there every single day because honestly it was the best) There’s also amazing views from the beautiful rooftop patio I VERY HIGHLY recommend staying here!

Michelle Rodriguez

Gosh what a unique hostel/hotel I loved staying here They have a big, coed hostel room with comfortable, ship-berthing-inspired bunks

They have privacy curtains which I loved The hotel also has private rooms but I didn’t stay in oneI loved the common cafe area The hours are long and there are always people taking advantage of the spaceThe only thing I can say negatively about this was the location being swamped by homeless people I have compassion for them but there’s a lot of unaddressed mental health issues and it made me feel unsafe leaving at night The doors to the cafe/hotel required being buzzed in or using your room key so that was coolOverall, I would stay here again This is the nicest hostel I’ve been in

Let me first start that the room I stayed in was great Nice space and very clean and quite But this 5 star review really goes to the server at the restaurant at the hotel

I’d like to thank and recommend Trina From the way she greats you when you walk in and the way she does her job is superb and exemplary I have been privileged enough to work with some of the best servers in the hospitality industry through out my 6 years as a kitchen manager Although I don’t work with Trina, I can tell by her energy, work ethic, and the way she treats both coworkers and customers that she is a awesome server and person I hope whoever manages and owns this hotel realize how much of a gem she is Trina if your reading this, please do not change, stay true to who you are and your mission I wish the best to you and the rest of your life and may people imitate your great example

Mimi Hughes

We loved staying at this hotel frequently having to travel for my job in the past This most recent stay we used a mixture of points and $ and the room was definitely not up to par as previous multiple experiences I called and asked if they had a room that could open the window as all other rooms we stayed in previously did and the answer was a curt “NO!” (I always like to sleep with an open window)

When we left the next am, I noticed that the room directly above us had their window wide open I had to use the air conditioner for ventilation which made the room too cold I will not be using the rest of my points at this particular hotel again I will try elsewhere next trip into Portland area

I have been staying here for years If you choose this place you for sure won’t be disappointedMy wife and I had a wonderful time here It’s perfectly located to lots of things to do, there’s a bus stop right outside & a max line just down the street This hotel was great- they had a gear rental space, something I’ve never seen at a hotel There was live music & a cozy courtyard It definitely seemed like it catered to younger people Parking was a bit rough- we had planned on driving over to the east side after checking in, but we had gotten the last spot & didn’t want to lose it I’m glad we didn’t move either, because when we went down to check on the car later at night, there were several cars circling the garage looking for a spot Overall we really enjoyed it & plan on coming back soon

So we just checked in with a non refundable booking, I have 2 kiddos that love pools, so we stay where there is pools!… we find a sign saying closed Been closed for a while they said and the reason I’m even typing this is because I haven’t seen it posted anywhere including here So heads up if your looking to swim in the advertised salt water pool, call first!… story is there looking for chemicals for it?

salt water pools have less chemicals and easy maintenance according to google, but doesn’t matter it’s closed! I’ll follow up with the rest of the stay!

Very friendly and attentive staff There is a bar and the option to buy snacks in the lobby, in addition to a full menu available for room service or diningThe rooms were nice and spacious but lacked closet space (there is no dresser just a couple of pull out shelves)

The hotel is near plenty of restaurants (within a 5 minute drive)

for nearly $300 tonight, and making breakfast something you pay for as part of a package, ridiculous! When we booked the hotel-one of the reasons we booked it was for a free breakfast, and to come to find out there was no breakfast included in our night stay, I was very disappointed and shocked by the amount of money we paid to not have a complementary Metairie breakfast included it’s just mind boggling to me The staff member, who is quite rude, stopped us at the entrance of the complementary breakfast station, and said we had to pay for it as part of a package I would think paying $285 for one night should very much include a complementary breakfast for a five-year-old and an 11 year old with their dad

I will not stay there again!

Service was awesome Location perfect The rooms themselves, we booked 2, were good but could have been a little cleaner

Corners of rooms were dusty so maybe a little more attention to detail The biggest issue was the lack of hot water for showering It was warm but never got to being “hot” We only stayed one night so it wasn’t a huge deal, got the job done Overall it was a go9d experience

This is now one of my favourite hotel chains and I can’t wait to visit more of them It’s such a chill vibe, but while maintaining excellent service The staff were so helpful and friendly and of course they are SUPER dog friendly which was amazing

We’ve traveled a lot with our dogs and have never come across a place like this that is so welcoming to the dogs Extra nice touches are the robes and free water bottles The food and drinks at the restaurant were really good as well And the location can’t be beat Right on the river and near all the shops and sights downtown and walking distance to the Saturday market Can’t wait to come back!

Wonderful stay! Everyone at the front desk was so, so nice (including, of course, the famous Kennedy mentioned in so many reviews) and generous We loved the location and walked all over the city, which was much needed after eating all the wonderful food available Rooms were clean, towels were brought up within just a couple minutes after I realized we needed a couple more, and the hotel was surprisingly quiet with noise from other rooms

I think one night we heard noise from the room next to or below us, but they had to have been exceptionally loud!Overall, I would not hesitate to stay here again! The hotel is lovely but the people here are what really make this such a great place to stay

After checking out, there was a charge in my bank account of a couple hundred dollars I called the hotel and asked why I was being charged and they said it was because there was an ironing board, iron, and pillow missing from the room They accused me of stealing the items and had footage of me and my husband checking into the hotel but conveniently “couldn’t find the footage of us checking out”

There’s no way I could fit an ironing board in my over night bag along with an iron and pillow I called the hotel manager and explained the situation and they only agreed to give me $50 back If you don’t want to get accused of stealing, I would find another hotel to stay at
