Big room I’m pretty sure the sheets had not been changed Beds were not comfortable

The room was clean Lady at the front desk was very short with us when we checked in Pool was nice, hot tub not very hot with very low pressure jets A book would have been nice in the room explaining the layout & amenities with a map of the hotel Would not recommend the bar/restaurant attached Poor service

Kate Munson

The woman who checked me in was so sweet and helpful But the room had the strangest most off putting smell too it, kind of like dirty socks or musty carpet Underwhelmed by the cleanliness of the room- but for a one night stay it was okay

Don’t think I’d come back for the price

John Barone

Been coming here for several years used to be a nice place but always new management It has never been updated/remodeled It seems ownership just wants to take in your $$ without putting back into place

This time room was musty carpet old and dirty plus both wife and I were victim of bed bugsWe were there 5 nights with no cleaning service what do ever Vexause of Covid they were “ short staffed” bs could at least change towels and empty garbageManagement confirms a rate then changes it without telling you when you question it your the bad guy then they go behind your back and add charges againCoffee and breakfast selections not fit for human consumptionIt’s a shame what current management has done -used to be a nice placeStay away many better choices in area

What an amazing place! Newly remodeled rooms with custom designs and different room themes Pay close attention when booking rooms online to the different room themes and decorations So clean and cozy

Excellent shower and a bed I did not want to get out of Felt like home Amazing staff and awesome customer service Added bonus…a great little small town with something to do for everyone Highly recommend!!!

Barb Boyd

If you want a very clean and well appointed room, this is the place for you There are no cookie cutter rooms here like the major hotels have Rooms are newly remodeled with balconies facing the Mississippi River

We were fortunate to be there when the neighboring establishment was sponsoring a band Sitting on our balcony on a beautiful summer evening listening to music was delightful The owners are friendly and take pride in their Inn

Katarina Frank

My family and I really enjoyed our stay at the Inn on the River We stayed in room 23 The room was recently renovated with an Italian theme

The beds were very comfortable, and the shower was wonderful We enjoyed sitting on the balcony in the evening watching the boats and trains The inn is located within sight of Lock and Dam #6 Unfortunately, we did not get to see a boat use the Lock and Dam while we were there We noticed the owners were kind enough to put ear plugs in the nightstand in case you needed them for the trains, but we thought the air conditioner was loud enough to block out the train noise Although no breakfast is included with the stay, there is a great breakfast restaurant not too far away from the inn We wished we had booked more than one night and would love to come back to stay again

I stayed here for 4 months, 5 nights a week for work My rooms were always clean and enjoyed having a balcony looking at Sugar Loaf rock The staff was always very friendly and helpful with any of my needs

Annie always had a big spread out for breakfast with scrabbled eggs, sausage and/or bacon biscuits and gravy, waffles, fruit, muffins, yogurt, etc Having the indoor hot tub was nice and even having a jacuzzi tub in the king rooms The restaurant/bar has kind of limited hours, but my food was always good that I got there Can walk out the door pretty much into Target for any needs Also has a gas station/subway right next door as well Just a few minutes from downtown is in a good location I thank all the staff for making my home away from home great for my time here

Brad

Was a bit hesitant to book a room as it was the $60-80 cheaper than most other hotels in town and clearly older- That being said we did book for a Friday night stay (7/15/22) The hotel is very clean and well maintained The room we had was recently remodeled with newer carpet, granite countertops in the bathroom, newer beds and newer furniture

The pool area was very nice The staff was very friendly The breakfast choices were great Also, has a nice bar/grill inside the hotel Highly recommend staying here over the more expensive newer hotels

Jessica M

We booked room 135 and we were highly disappointed! We paid a lot extra for this room so my son could sleep in a classic car The room needs to be updated and cleaned thoroughly There was black mold and water marks on the ceiling above the AC unit

A couple pieces of baseboards were missing and black mold was exposed underneath one Mildew on lamps Dirty burnt old dresser Outdated electronics Pizza sauce on car and carpet as well as other stains on carpet Crumbs on table and chairs Someone else’s dirty underwear on floor of car near dash Burn marks on multiple things from cigarettes in a smoke-free room? The wall paper is peeling off the walls Spider webs in every window and many corners Can’t see out windows because they are so dirty Smelled heavily of vinegar and tires? Didn’t even sleep here I couldn’t let my son stay in that He cried and I felt horrible Our allergies were flaring up bad right away Wish I could get a refund Stay away Better hotels in the area

This is a newly constructed building with great rooms and facilities The desk and chair were a little tight against the foot of the bed, but otherwise it felt spacious, especially the large walk-in shower The complimentary continental breakfast was always filling and good

I was there during a major road construction project, so it was not very convenient to get around, but the back roads worked just fine

Mandy Boykin

Nice, clean, comfortable hotel Hotel staff was always very kind and professional The last morning of our stay, the breakfast staff member overheard my 6-year-old asking about strawberries and blueberries, which they had the day before

A few minutes later, he brought my daughter a plate of strawberries, blueberries, and pineappleI watched the front desk staff deal with an extremely intoxicated man who could barely stand up with nothing but professionalism, kindness, and concern while the breakfast staff member helped as well

The place is adorable we had a little problem the first night the frame on the bed was broken but that did not stop or stay or loving the Villa that we were inThe kitchen is very nice pretty well stocked with just the basics but still is enough for me to cook breakfastThere is plenty of towels with lots of amenities for the bathroom which we appreciated

The outside deck was wonderful and I really enjoyed Becky and Nicole We would definitely stay here again and have already started talking about when it will be

Alice Dodson

Their mailbox for phone messages is generally full So, it is hard to get through to someone to reserve a room They have remodeled and it seems like a decent place to stay

Perhaps it’s just the management, they don’t seem to return calls Or no one is on duty in the evening for late check in if coming from out of town My last stay took them two hours to open my room because of recent painting Then another hour to fix the lock so I would feel safe after getting in I was offered a free night stay, but when it came time to use it, they refused to give it

My daughters and I had an exceptional stay at Carriage House B&B We were perfectly situated to be within walking distance of downtown, the Minnesota Conservancy for the Arts, and the Minnesota Marine Art Museum The hostess prepared a lovely breakfast of cinnamon bread, quiche, sausage, and fruit

We were able to eat and mingle with other guests over breakfast The room was clean, comfortable, and inviting We weren’t expecting a TV in the room so weren’t bothered by not having one There was a shared game and TV room for all guests

Aaron Schendel

This is a lovely rustic-feeling place to stay in Winona! The location is directly across the street from Winona State University’s campus and just a short walk from downtown – couldn’t be better located! The hostess was incredibly kind and friendly and breakfast each morning was deliciousA couple notes for anyone looking to stay here:- There are no TVs in the rooms (at least not in the Friendship Room)- From what I could tell there is either no air conditioning in the rooms or at least no air conditioning you have the ability to control (might just be set for the building)Neither of these things are bad at all – I just wish they had been mentioned on the website for people to be aware of Regardless of those things, it was a great place to stay and I’d recommend it for anyone wanting to get away to a charming town!

Jennifer Norman

Our host Grace, and her family were very welcoming to my mother and I We reserved last minute due to a death in my family, and I needed to reserve a room for my mom and I literally the day before we would arrive Everything worked out great, the owners allowed us to come inside the main house and got us upstairs into a wonderful room where we could change into funeral clothing

We drove from Chicago to Winona in about 4 1/2 hours and had about 40 minutes to get to the cathedral of the sacred heart for the visitation, mass and then dinnerGrace, her little 17 month sweetie 🥰 (already this to her, Grace, she made my visit, cheered me up when I wasn’t), her mom, Jan and if course her soon to be husband welcomed us into their home open arms and hearts We will definitely stay there again ❤️❤️❤️❤️Jennifer Heer Norman and my mother, Debbie Hegberg Heer,Arrived Monday, June 20, stayed 1 night, and checked out on Tuesday, June 21st

I have a special needs son, and the staff are so kind and welcoming They always go out of their way to be friendly and attentive The location by the parks and gardens on the river, with walking trails and historic buildings surrounding it, is stunning

A quiet private road nuzzled into the center of this gorgeous town, is amazing It’s for families and business people and travelers and nature lovers So many dining options, even different cool bars You can see concerts and events and walk peacefully back to your quiet Hotel Paddle boats and fishing It’s gorgeous

The Accountant’s Office

Room reserved for a couple of 75 year old ladies who are friends but can’t sleep in the same open room together The fact that they had a handicap shower, nice kitchenette, and 2 separate bedrooms with closing doors was exactly what we had searched the area for 4 hours to find Extremely reasonable rates for the stay

We told the front desk that they are probably the best kept secret in La Crosse and will definitely use them again when we have out of town family arriving for gatherings

Jason Bott

Great location, continental breakfast was typical Room was cleanBut, the air-conditioning in the room did not work (was offered fans in place of AC), the shower drain was clogged and the drain plug didn’t stay open, there were no pool towels, and only one small bar of soap to be used for your hands and in the shower

Too much money to spend on a place that doesn’t seem to care about the details

Richard was absolutely wonderful! He makes a savory breakfast which is out of this world!!! We were greeted with a tour of the mansion, followed by a night cap and chocolate We had the downstairs room which was an apartment and I loved it! Richard also went above and beyond to accommodate my plans that fell through He graciously spent time talking with me and sharing recipes

The fire place was lit in the evening where you can enjoy a complimentary glass of wine or coffee They have a nice selection of books you can read as well We will definitely be back! Thank you Richard

Robert Riggs

This is a delightful and beautiful historic mansion(see pictures) The owner and host Richard was very pleasant and informative We enjoyed the tour and historical presentation

Sitting on the wrap around screened porch with a glass of Rose was charming Our room was beautiful(see pictures) Every room was not only clean but spotless Our bathroom was small and plus sized people would have had significant difficulty We didn’t stay for breakfast, the B&B experience is not for us Group dining with complete strangers is not my cup of tea If you want or love the B&B experience this would be great

Kyle Johnson

Everything was excellent Very reasonable price and a very well kept up and beautiful mansion The Innkeeper, Richard, was fantastic

Very friendly, helpful, and accommodating I was traveling for work and had to check out quite early Breakfast is normally 9am, but Richard went above and beyond accommodating my very early exit (6:30am) Fruit parfait, homemade pumpkin bread, coffee and orange juice Plus he sent me on my way with coffee and pumpkin bread to go He had a great recommendation for dinner and offered complimentary wine, dessert wine, and an Irish cream nightcap with chocolates Bed was comfortable and common areas were very nice Much better option than a hotel, and happy to support this B&B during the challenging times of COVID Thank you for everything, Richard I will be back!

My wife and I were on a road trip when a massive hail storm hit Like most cars we just had to stop, by chance it was close to this AmericInnThe folks at the front desk were so nice, they let us sit down to wait the storm out, due to dusk coming shortly, we decided to book a night

Renee was a gem, she was very sweet to help us out, and offered us one of their designer rooms that had a whirlpool that could fit 2 The cost wasn’t much more then a regular room with a KingThe room was tastefully designed, came with a little fridge, microwave, and the best part it smelled clean! We will return again and againThe free breakfast is a good perk, it’s not the most amazing food selections in the world, but it is above average

Freda Lee

This is the second time we stayed at this hotel We both enjoy Wabasha and Eagle theme rooms We have two boys and the rooms has pull out bed that works well for our family

Eagle room has dining table, great for meal We just brought in food from local restaurants and downstairs breakfast during our stay The pool Perfect when we need to stay in due to bad weather However, it can get busy in weekends Definitely enjoyed our stay

Mary Nehring

My sister and niece stayed two nights in the same room-Friday and Saturday, June 17 and 18 They asked for Friday nights stay to go on Ruths card and Saturday nights stay to go on Konnies card The hotel employee said they had a new system for credit cards but said it wouldnt be a problem

My sister realized this morning that her card was charged for both nights instead of just the one My niece was also charged for one night The assistant manager, Robin, was extremely rude and said nothing could be done When Ruth said she was going to dispute the extra charge, Robin was very snide and said it would do no good We have stayed her for many, many years a couple times per year Never again I will let everyone know you are fine with double charging and how rude your managers are when there is a problem Not impressed to say the least You should hire people who actually care instead of being rude when they are called on for a problem
