Only go there if you want to feel Cecil HotelOn 3-12-22, I checked in with my 2 kids after a long day traveling, and we had selected a non smoking room for 3 nights Specifically non smoking and paid extra for an upgrade so it’s a larger room

We get to the hallway and we started feeling uneasy and tightness from the condition of everything, then we get to the room and we were shocked The smoke was almost fresh and everything smelled tobacco Even the air coming from the vent was moldy and hot We couldn’t change the temperature of the room it was 1 temperature that wouldn’t change no matter what you do with the thermostat The room was too small and not upgraded Having an asthma I had a hard time breathing there and although we were completely exhausted, we started looking for another hotel, so we don’t end up in the hospital The paint was pealing, the air vent was moldy, the window wouldn’t open to get fresh air, the bed plywood is exposed and you could hurt your leg walking by it, many damages in the walls, bathroom counter I immediately talked to Danielle at the reception and asked her if there were other options because that was not what I booked First she said yes, then she said “it’s all going to be the same It’s an old building and the temperature doesn’t change” After some give and take with her, she said that there was nothing else she could do I said Alright then we are going to another hotel, and I asked for my refund She said to call the agency I booked through and they will refund me All that was done within 20-30 minutes We move on and go to another hotel, straight to bed exhausted She even had the guts to charge another $60 from the card we put on file, but Capital One Venture was quick to charge it back After we returned home I called the agency – Chase Travel, part of Chase bank – and told them what happened, they communicated with the hotel but the hotel refused to refund me I feel my kids and I were abused and lied to, and illegally charged money for no service, and misleading advertisement I ask for my money to be refunded We filed a complaint with BBB and we may also be considering legal action

Love this old hotel It used to be called the Governor, and is still referred as so by the locals The elevators used to be slow but they have been upgraded

(Thank heavens)The rooms are clean and nice I have stayed at the governor many times and recommended it to friends and family If possible I try and get the top floor or two facing Capital Lake

Susan Eckes

Positives: Front desk and breakfast staff/breakfast were excellent Beds and linens fine Room was clean

Free parking Neutral: Location convenient to Capitol, downtown, waterfront, and homeless folks Negatives: High price for (poor) quality Hotel is dingy, rundown, in need of total renovation Room was 83 degrees upon check-in and air conditioning was ineffective; we had to request a fan Tub finish worn off and very stained Faucet leaked continually Hallways smelled stale Room windows needed cleaning No room service even though “Do Not Disturb” sign was taken down before 10 am No tv info/instructions Only one hanger provided Freezer in room fridge needed defrosting

I like to support local hotels whenever possible Pros: The room was super comfortable- lots of space, comfortable mattress and pillows Very clean

Cons: They require a photocopy of your driver’s license, but couldn’t explain how it would be stored (someone said it would be saved for 7 yearsreally?) I asked to have it shredded, which they said they didso beware of this practice Also, whenever person walked on the floor above the room, it sounded like an elephantIt’s about an hour from Mt Rainier National Park and 45 minutes from Tacoma Some cute restaurants nearby I would stay here again

Alexandra Thompson

This is definitely one of the best hotels in the area I absolutely love coming here for horse shows at Aspen Farms The rooms are spacious and clean and all of the appliances always work

I stayed there for an exceptionally rainy weekend and they were constantly vacuuming and sweeping the mud that was getting dropped on the floors I felt like it was clean enough to walk on the carpet with my socks just so I didn’t trudge MORE dirt on the floor I mean, they truly keep it spotless

Steve Kinholt

Excellent hotel We stayed in the older section because we had a dog, but it has been recently updated Very nice

And very good if you have a dog because you can go right outside and there’s a huge field They removed the carpet in these rooms so that they can keep them cleaner The room was super clean and super big A larger fridge than you typically find with a separate freezer area Separate sink with microwave and small 5 cup coffee pot The beds were super comfortable Two desk areas for working A couple chairs and table for sitting Super friendly staff They do not offer breakfast here but do have some items for purchase in the office area There’s also fresh coffee there It was also a short walk to restaurants We highly recommend the uptown lounge that has a movie theater as well Excellent food and drinks and atmosphere And you get a 10% discount on food because you’re staying at the Prairie Hotel Also, the small restaurant across the street is great for breakfast, Mr Doug’s We would definitely stay here again Jason

Originally when we got our room it was supposed to be king size, we ended up with a queen our first night and the next day they were able to move us in the room we wanted Mostly clean but we found a random spoon and 2 batteries Great hospitality just wish everything went to plan originally

Good area too for people looking to stay in a nice neighborhood just outside the city Changed review from 2 star to 5 when we got the room we booked

Jon Martin

Previously, I did not add any info here besides the 5 stars but would like to amend thatI stay at this Hampton Inn quite regularly and every time I have come the staff have been exceptional! Extremely accommodating and caring for the folks staying with them It’s truly the staff that make this Hampton Inn my stay of choice

The breakfast has always been delightful and fresh (especially for a hotel buffet) The pool and gym are well kept The rooms are always cleanI would only make two suggestions for potential improvement1 Would like to be able to crack open the pool room windows to increase ventilation Only 1 window cracks open about 3 inches currently2 Would like if it were pet friendly

Graig Butler

I’ve stated here 5-6 times for work over the past year Front desk representative Kay is always the most welcoming She is engaging, personable and efficiently checks me in each time

Kay needs to be recognized for her quality serviceThe facilities are nice and the rooms are always spotless The only critique I might have are the not so tasty eggs at breakfast

Very clean and comfortable Rooms are spacious and provides a curtain to add a little privacy between bed and sofa bed (great if you have a kid) The rooms are well insulated

Even though our room faced the interstate and train, it didn’t keep us up Breakfast was decent for a continental type We stayed 4 nights prior to our military move Would definitely recommend!

Roger Skaer

Upon check-in, I experienced a genuinely personal greeting and was set up with my accommodations quickly and efficiently My room was perfectly clean and in great conditionThe staff was very professional and helpful, making sure that I had everything I needed for a stress-free and enjoyable stay

I would definitely recommend Home2 Suites to everyone as they have time and again provided me with nothing but the utmost of courtesy and careThank you again for another perfect stay

Tracey New

I am a professional traveler, and I highly recommend this hotel I have used this Home2 Suites on several trips to Joint Base Lewis McChord, and they have always been kind and very accommodating The rooms are comfortable, clean, and well stocked

Breakfast is the typical self service style, and has a good assortment of items to choose fromOn a recent trip, shortly after arriving, I had an untimely death of a family member The staff was understanding and helpful with making my early departure as painless as possible, and I must give a special mention to the night manager, Sarah She is a special human being, and her kindness to me at a very difficult time in my life does not go unappreciated Thank you Sarah, and to everyone else who makes this my favorite Tacoma area stay!

Was told I had to park in the lot at $10+ tax Turns out street parking was free between 5pm and 8am so that would have worked fine for me Bottled water is $5, which is straight up highway robbery

I could hear footsteps above me until that person went to bed Was asked by staff “what brings me to town” which is an annoying disingenuous question and frankly none of their business, kind of like when the cashier at wholefoods asks what your plans for the weekend arePrice was ~$180 There were no bedbugs and the room smelled fine Toilet was cleanI mean if you didn’t do your homework to find a good Airbnb ahead of time and you need something last minute in downtown Olympia, this is what there is It’s not bad It’s not great Bring earplugs and check out the street parking before you decide to pay to use their lot

Michael Longo

This hotel is in a serious state of disrepair The bathroom looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in years There is blood on the walls

The ottoman in living room is torn up The curtains are filthy Half the rooms in the building are tented and are being gutted The website advertises having electric vehicle charging and the front desk informed us there isn’t charging and that they need to update the website On top of that parking costs $10 a day which is a joke I am just getting back into staying with Hilton and this is leaving a really bad impression Tried to use the online chat feature on Hiltoncom to voice concerns and was told they can’t do anything since I was already checked in You can’t take feedback on a property after some is checked in? What a joke I have a lot of travel booked with Hilton this year, but I might need to start going back to Marriott after this

Alexandra Parrott

The only good thing about this hotel is the location and the front desk staff I’ve stayed here three times this year and the last time I just decided not to give it another chanceWhile the staff is very friendly and helpful, the last time we stayed we had to switch rooms twice

Construction starts early in the morning and is so loud it wakes you up Heater was broken in the second room But worst of all, the shower is terrible Luke warm at best, water pressure sucks and the shower head sprays everywhere The design of the shower makes it so you have to walk in and stand under the water just to turn it on, so you get sprayed with cold water Parking $10 a day, as others have mentioned If I can’t have a hot shower, and can’t have peace and quiet because of construction, why would I stay here?

Customer service is everything to me And they did not disappoint 👏 over the phone booking was warm, helpful, friendly Once I got there I ended up needing to make changes to my reservations and it was taken care of

I forgot my kid’s favorite shoes and I sent them a postage paid label and Ashley is mailing them back The lady taking care of breakfast was so sweet too The room was clean, lots of pillows Some minor cosmetic things like a bit of peeling ceiling paint in the bathroom if that is a big deal to you I would definitely again

Allona Shields

The gentleman who checked us in, Cal, was pretty dang cool! He was definitely more a person with a job than a robot with a job, which made the stay more comfortable There was another lady at the check in counter, I’m unsure of her name but she was just as relaxed and cool as Cal was They were both very helpful and were just hands down immediately willing to help with any requests we had, like borrowing a phone charger or corkscrew

The rooms were nice and clean, and the bed was pretty comfortable It was nice returning after long days

MMI – Private

My main issue is that the AC can only be on or off – it doesn’t restart automatically, which means you have to choose between being too warm or too cold while you sleep The room and hallways are smelly, which probably means the carpet hasn’t been cleaned in a long time The breakfast was disappointing

I was also unimpressed and concerned with the fact that our receipt had been left in front of the door outside our room, which contains our name and address They should slide it completely under the door or just not leave it there at allOn the plus side, the staff is excellent and the pool/hot tub are nice to have

Have stayed here twice and enjoyed it The staff are very friendly but they pretty much leave you alone the whole time They forgot to put out coffee in the morning (or moved it somewhere I couldn’t see lol) so that was a bit frustrating but this place is nice

The hallway always smells like Indian food which doesn’t really bother me Overall 5 stars because it’s clean, comfortable and quiet and the elevator is fast!

Risto Jacobs

Melissa’s customer service is truly the best I appreciate the help of Cara and Tara as well Melissa is constantly helping me and others with a smile

These 3 ladies always so helpful and very infomative The room was fairly clean, although, I’m a very clean person I always try to keep my own room clean so that the housekeeper, doesn’t have to do much but the bare minimum She’s only had to do a quick bathroom and vent clean once They always have change for laundry if I need Great place to stay

joshua elson

I would rate this place less than one if I could The elevator has been out since before December I had to hike the stairs we were doing laundry at least 20 times There was laundry left in a couple of the machines so we had to keep going back and forth up and down all night

The late night front desk help was really friendly and helpful that’s the only thing this place has going for it We showed up and got the room but the time we got there we couldn’t get a refund they did not tell us the elevator was out until they rented us our room on the third floor I do not recommend this place to anyone

Best stay I’ve ever had Incredibly comfortable room LOVED the jet tub in the room (it’s worth splurging for, I promise)

Pet friendly hotel Extremely accommodating, especially for last minute reservations The breakfast wasnt expansive but coffee, juice, milk, cereal, waffles, eggs, hash browns, and bread items was a decent selection Right next to highway, gas station, and a really great Mexican restaurant (7 min walk) They also had a laundry room which was very helpful for a cross country move! Highly recommend

Theresa Rivkin

Clean, quiet and friendly staffFree breakfast (although the waffle maker heat settings were a little high)Small kitchen with microwave and good sized mini fridge would make this a great place for longer stay in the area

The only thing I wish the room had was an easy chair or some sort of comfortable seating to watch TV verses hanging out in the bedGreat location – easy to get to and plenty of parking

Heather Malone

A lovely, clean hotel with all the comforts of home and a robust breakfast selectionThe kind, helpful people who work there make sure you are wanting for nothing during your stay Fair prices too, which is a rare and wonderful thing to find these days

Can’t wait to come back!

Daniel Showalter – Mathematics and Computer Science

The good reviews here are well-founded We checked in around 10:30 pm with four children Although there were no available parking spaces left near the entrance, the receptionist (Otillia) kindly moved her car to open up a space, which made the unpacking much easier

We had interactions with about four other staff members, all of which were entirely pleasant

Nice hotel was a last minute booking due to issues at another hotel we booked Staff was nice, yummy breakfast, easy check in We stayed 1 night

Housekeeping was at our door at 10:25 My husband was in the shower and they barely knocked so I did not hear it I thought it was my kids She asked if we were checking out I said yes according to the website booking check out is at 12 We start taking stuff to our car at about 11 We get back to the room for the rest of our stuff 5 minutes later and our key doesn’t work anymore I asked the house keeping in the hall to open the door so we could get the rest if our stuff and again asked if we are checking out today

Sarah Brooks

We stayed here for a week with 2 families in 4 rooms It was a wonderful experience I cannot say enough about the amazing staff

The front desk staff went above and beyond to help with certain needs The breakfast ladies were phenomenal! Breakfast itself was great with lots of options The housekeeping staff were so friendly and helpful The hotel was very clean and comfortable We had large vehicles with trailers attached so ample parking was helpful Located next to Costco across the parking lot from Chic Fil A Walmart was very close as well We mostly ate in our rooms or when we were out and about I would go out of my way to stay here again rather than another location bc you just never know what you’re going to get This place seems really consistent

If it is military TDY related, or your family is on PCS to this installation, or if you are just traveling along the 5 and need a place to rest, this is the spotMy family and I did approximately 15 days in this hotel and they made us feel so welcome that we didn’t want to leave!Front desk staff was quick, responsive, friendly, and reliable Was able to quickly adjust to some extensions if needed

I cannot thank them enough for our stayThe breakfast is ALWAYS phenomenal Coffee never ran dry not once! And available 24/7 Bold and delicious The employee that usually works there even went out of her way to find me a granola bar, how sweetAlways very clean and Jeremy maintains the pool as if it were his own! My kids loved swimming and my 5 year old even learned to swim while there Soaking in the hot tub is great after a long dayI will be recommending family and friends to stay here in the futureKindest personal regards,The Phelps family

GM is a liar and a thief I smoked a bowl of cannabis out of my window as I was preparing to take a bath and got kicked out Left without any scene made

The gm was excessively aggressive asking us to leave, rasing his voice and peering in our window prior to knocking on our door Charged me the $250 dollar deposit after he explicitly stated he would not Was charged $400 for a room we didn’t even spend less than 2 hours in, let alone do ANY damage to! Completely unreachable via phone or email

While the hotel itself is usually OK are the changes due to Covid challenging for the guests Room service is reduced to once per week, while that is OK due to the current situation should have rooms though been equipped with more necessities such as toilet paper, towels, laundry baskets etc Also, would it be nice if each room would have some sanitizing wipes so guests can clean their rooms since Room service only happens once a week

When you have kids and/or dogs you can imagine the mess that could happen, especially with the carpet floors that the rooms are equipped with so be prepared to bring a bunch of wipes and maybe some carpet cleaner so you don’t walk on stickiness until Room service comes While it is completely understandable that during these uncertain times change had to happen, could have other things like equipping rooms with more necessities been implementedAlso,During our stay were there dog poop stains in the hallway for almost 4 days While no fault to the hotel or it’s employees and only the fault and laziness of the Dog’s owner is it still disgusting to see it and it’s a germ pool It simply should have been cleaned right awayFurthermore,The situation with the laundry room is not any better While the washing machines are fast and get the laundry clean, are the dryers the opposite Small loads of laundry took 3 hours to dry and sometimes even after 3 hours it was still damp Either replace the dryers or make sure that they get cleaned out properly (vent, lint trap etc)

James Cardwell

Great military hotel to stay in The breakfast was GREAT! The staff were super friendly from check-in, housekeeping, and the kitchen There are also free laundry facilities on-site, just bring your own detergent

My only two gripes were the internet and cable TV The internet is very slow, so if you plan on streaming shows or movies (and you will want to with the second gripe)…be patient! The second gripe is the cable TV is standard definition It is 2021 and you have HDTVs in every room…yet every cable channel is Standard Definition With the size of the TV, it looks TERRIBLE The selection of channels and movie channels were great, it was just the picture qualityOtherwise, I highly recommend this hotel!

Overall quite decent and I enjoyed my stay The reduced and discounted rate that was offered for the month of April was a good idea but was just a beginning The rates are still way out of line with what is charged at other Army lodging facilities

These other Army lodging facilities provide substantially the same level and quality of services They do so and offer substantially better rates

I am beyond livid I am so deeply frustrated by the incompetency of the hotel management I am currently staying at this hotel for one night

I called last Sunday and specifically asked if they had a jacuzzi I needed desperately to be able to relax Have two boys with me I was told it was out of service, but was rest assured by the time I came it would be up and running I was also told for my one night stay here it would cost $200 Which is pretty pathetic to say the least When check in time came to be I asked about the jacuzzi and was told the pump just now went out What?!!!! Are you serious!! I am so beyond angry! Then I was told that I could use the pool What a joke I wanted to relax in the jacuzzi while the kids played in the pool Then was told for the inconvenience I would get a discount My discount was lowered by $164 My total still ended up to be $200 because of extra charges/ taxes Wow! Thanks for that military discount I will never be coming to this establishment ever again

This Inn is in a great location having a grocery store across the street and a few different places to grab a bite to eat There is also a movie theater not that far down the street with many other stores around the area that are close as well Being close to the freeway for easy access is nice and you don’t have to worry about the noise either

Breakfast is until 10 and check out is noon! The rooms are very spacious and comfortable with a ac/heat that isn’t a loud disturbing noise to keep you awake or having to turn the TV up to hear The room we had had wheelchair accessories like a nice walk in shower with a seat attached to the wall and 2 shower heads, one detached and the other set The price was great as well There is a indoor pool and hot tub as well as a gym and other amenities on the grounds No stairs are needed to climb either All in all this is definitely one of the better hotels in olympia for price and location

Their service was amazing from the get go! The wife and I had a late check in and were welcomed by the night clerk feeling like we were at home She told us about close by 24 hour restaurants around if we were hungry as well as the option of getting something in the hotels food shop if we were too tired from the drive along with the continental breakfast We loved how genuine and helpful she wasThe room itself was cozy and satisfied our needs with a comfortable bed (unlike a lot of other hotels) and necessary toiletries

The breakfast was amazing for being a free breakfast There were various options including eggs, cereal, sausage, make-your-own waffles 😍 Muffins and toast were available among others I can’t fully rememberAgain, we appreciate the night clerk for making us feel welcomed especially so late in the night I apologize for how terrible I am with names

Room was comfy, though AC unit was quite loud Really didn’t notice any noise from neighbors which was nice Breakfast was pretty decent, and coffee was better than usual at a hotel

Staff were quite friendly and helpful WiFi was good during the night but completely went down the next day I left early in the morning so not sure when it came back up Location is pretty good Close to lots

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!My family & I have stayed here from time & time for over 10 years Out of all my stays here, I’ve never experienced the most unpleasant stay The day shift staff is polite & helpful

But the GRAVE SHIFT LADY (KIMBERLY) has a very distasteful attitude My first night stay, I walked in without a mask, as I did not have one (knowing the front desk will provide one for guests) and KIMBERLY asked if I had a mask Told her, sorry I didn’t have one and she told me TO GET OUT AND GO FIND ONE! Now, I know masks were required but is that how you respond to your guests? Instead of replying in an unkind manner I then asked her if she can provide me a mask and I was told, they are not supposed to provide us with one When all the other staff were cordial enough to hand out masks to guests that did not have one Our next night stay, my sister asked KIMBERLY for a mask & told my sister she doesn’t have any masks for her That she needs to get out if she doesn’t have one She claimed my sister was being nasty with her So what should your customer service be called? SMH! We will NOT be staying here again She made our stay uncomfortable & did not make us feel welcomed We don’t know what people are going through but if your having negative attitudes then you should not be greeting guests & making your guests feel low spirited KIMBERLY needs a major attitude adjustment!!!! And La Quinta needs to step up!!!
