First time staying there and I really enjoyed it Room wasn’t too far of a walk and the room was clean and nice and comfortable Loved that there was a restaurant attached to hotel

Down fall for me was that it was VERY humid inside the hotel lobby area Whew, it was warm Also pool was down for maintenance but I wasn’t there to swim but I’m sure others were disappointed

Nadia Kutz

I booked two months in advance and requested an atrium view When I got to the hotel I was assigned a pool view room To add insult to injury the pool was not open to swim due to the heater being broken

The website also stated breakfast but what was served was a to go bag with a generic muffin or cinnamon bun in cellophane and a frozen heated sausage biscuit sandwich I was told due to Covid they can’t keep staff to run the breakfast The hotel first floor ice machine was broke and had a sign to use third floor ice machine I was assigned a room with an adjoining room door which I did not request I could hear the people in the next room and could not fall asleep until 1:30AM When I inquired about changing rooms since the adjoining room was booked for the next night also, the young skinny girl working the front desk on Saturday morning was extremely rude and said there were no other rooms and you should have called to complain last night So I was going to check out and go to another hotel and a room at this hotel popped up on line but the rude girl told me she still couldn’t move me because a few rooms are only offered on line and she had no control over that I was forced to stay another night because I couldn’t find any other hotels nearby with availability Once again the adjoining room was loud but the air conditioning muffled the sound for us making it more bearable but still couldn’t fall asleep until 1 AM Also the hallway floors on the fourth floor are so uneven I’m surprised no one has tripped on them before My friends happen to be at the Comfort Inn next door They paid less money per night and had the pool and warm breakfast Buffett I would never stay at the Best Western Premier in Alton again Horrible stay

One Sunny Day

Why is it a thing for Housekeeping to come busting down doors at 8am?? 2nd time in a month Check out is at 11, I paid almost $150 for a room that was SUPPOSED to be discounted because of the tour we were going on, but the staff had no clue, so full price So I’m not leaving 1 minute early

Also, there was water damage all over

Hotel is older and definitely has some maintenance concernsStaff were very friendly and availableOur room had a very strong musty smell when we arrived and at first I thought it was because it had just had the carpets cleaned and the floors were still damp

I later realized that the window was leaking underneath the air conditioner and pretty badly The area received a TON of rain that day so when I stepped in enough wetness near the window that water pooled around my now-sock-soaked feet, I was able to put the two together Although that was disappointing I was tired enough to just hit the hayThe toilet in our room had a very high pitched whistling sound because the water constantly was running We just shut the door to the bathroom and it was fineIt was a reasonably nice hot breakfast with the usual fair and maintained well The sausage was infused with maple which is not my presence but not all that bad eitherJustices and milks were pretty small single servings Something I’d expect to see at an elementary schoolOverall the place achieved what it was intended to do – be a place to rest and sleep and recharge for the next day

Kaci B

Looks to be an older hotel but decently maintained The staff was nice and managed to find me a room after my reservation somehow vanished I had a confirmation number and all that good jazz and even spoke with one of the employees a few hours before i got there but there was no sign of my reservation anywhere

So i guess i lucked out that they still had a room available

Barbara Severson

This hotel is located in my hometown, and I stayed there for 7 nights recently while visiting friends I was very satisfied with my stay, as the price was great and my room was large and clean, and the air conditioner worked wonderfully (Note: the room and AC vary, as my brother also stayed here, for 3 nights, and his room was smaller and the AC didn’t work too well

) A big plus for me is the fact that breakfast is served until 10 am 7 days a week, which is almost unheard of in hotels these days Some of the air conditioning units in the hallways didn’t seem to be blowing cool air, and the ice machine on the second floor was not working, but I did have a very nice stay here Oh, and the staff is very friendly, too!

Stay far far away from this hotel The night staff were super nice and friendly but the room? Wow Electrical hazard, toilet isn’t stable, the sink counter is held up with two pieces of wood and piece of sheet rock on the other side

Look under the counter the plumbing is scary itself The tub? It’s something you’d see from 3 decades ago Need shampoo? Forget it, you’ll need to go up to the front desk to ask for it Book a room? Don’t count on getting it as you won’t get the room you bookedThen in your non booked room, the pull out couch? You’ll likely need to tear off the gross cover and hope there’s bedding otherwise you’ll need be back up at the front desk(luckily the manager was on site and happened be in the room notice they bedding wasn’t there) I strongly recommend you don’t look under the couch No one moves it to vacuum it Towels? We had towels but two of the towels had stains on them Don’t expect fresh pillow either The rooms are supplied with old pillowsNext let’s talk about the wash cloth hanger, yeah that was broken to the room really needed far more detailed cleaning then it gets The room didn’t have any smell bad as other reports stated prior to my review Breakfast? Breakfast was mediocre at best The breakfast area needs some attention as well as the equipmentI’m assuming the manager was who happened to be on site(05/28/2022) I will say she was super friendly and very customer satisfaction focused, along with the gentleman who checked us in I really enjoyed speaking to both as neither gave negative attitude or nasty attitude The manager also was taking notes and looked at things pointed out to herOverall, I won’t recommend anyone to this hotel but i again want to highlight the friendly night staff For the future, I hope they have name tags so that if I ever stay here again I may leave a better more positive review to hopefully mention them once again!

Room smells terribly like mold TV remote is sticky looks like it’s never been cleaned Shared with front desk that the room smelledlike mold

He offered to spray deodorizer And laughed I will be contacting the EPA tomorrow so they can check for mold not something to mess with Will be sleeping in truck

Stayed in this hotel for almost two weeks The staf is friendly and my room was clean and comfortable No cleaning was done during the weekend

The bed was good which is kind of most important for me The hotel is close to the highway so easy to connect with other places Didn’t use the pool but you could already smell it at the entrance The breakfast was not particular my favorite Pre-packed burgers/sandwiches which could be heated in some kind of pan was a bit weird for me Fresh fruit was good

LaJoya J.

I booked and paid a hotel room tonight at Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott-Pontoon Beach When I was walking in I saw a sign that said can not book to someone within 50 miles I provided my ID and debit card for the hold fee

The front desk agent Paula states I can not check in due to my address on my id being Florissant,MO I attempted to explain I just moved and have not gotten my new id She explains it does not matter she has to go by the address on the id My girlfriend said if there was a way she could put it in her name She said yes I explained how would that work if I paid for the reservation Paula said I have to call who I booked the hotel with I first called Marriott customer service and they said there was nothing they could do because I didn’t book through them Since I used the Hopper App I chatted with someone who then got in touch with Marriott and switched the name to my girlfriend While we were waiting, a woman checking in asked about the sign Paula answered it was due to COVID Mind you NO ONE had a mask on not even Paula So if COVID is such an issue then why wouldn’t she be wearing a mask? My opinion is because this hotel and others in the area do not want people from St Louis booking rooms with them This issue is discriminatory to me I’ve booked hotels all the time and never ran into this issue What if I wasn’t with my girlfriend? I would have had to sleep in my car or drive 6 hrs home This situation should have NEVER happen

Checked in relatively late- around 8 or so with no issues Front foyer was very clean and extremely well kept with the Holiday Inn whites Very nice eating area for breakfast and a bigger than typical continental breakfast

The front area had a mini store that they charged 25 for us, but then reimburse if not used Kind of a nice clever way to get you to spend a little extra if you’re feeling parched or hungry overnightThe bathrooms were clean, bedspread and rooms were very well-kept and the building was quiet overall Very nice hotel for a smaller college town Kudos to the management on this stay

Dan Blaney

This is a relatively new facility with nice amenities including a workout room indoor pool and hot breakfast Staff is friendly and attentive I would come back here the next time I’m in town

My buddy booked at a comparable hotel and changed to this Holiday Inn midway thru his stay because it was a nicer newer environment

I cant express enough how comfortable and accommodating this hotel is! Bryan and every other staff member I encountered was very sweet and helpful I am impressed by the continental breakfast as well I was shocked to see that they had turkey sausage as an option

Most continentals I’ve experienced only offer pork for breakfast The bed was so comfortable I almost didn’t want to leave! I will absolutely revisit as well as recommend to others! Keep up the great work!

Alex Demas

We stayed a couple of nights here while visiting St Louis Staying out by the airport was not an issue, driving-wise, and the much better price made it worth it

The room was spacious and comfortable The beds were clean and soft, there were plenty of outlets for a family of 4, the furniture was clean and in good condition The bathroom was clean and everything worked wellBreakfast was well made and the guy running it was fantastic, really went above and beyond to make sure everyone was well taken care ofThe only downsides were the internet wasn’t very good and the walls were quite thin, so the Olympic track and field competition being held in the room above ours was quite distracting

Jenny Brock

Good for just a quick place to sleep but it was also the most expensive choice if that’s the only goal For less there was a Hilton and something called Renaissance that looked much betterBiggest grip was room cleanliness

Obvious stains on the furniture, floors and walls Some looked really suspicious 🤮Furniture/chair and ottoman were old and the faux leather was peelingA/C sounded like a tornado alarm (just not as loud, but same EXACT sound) when it was turned onIf you’re going to spend the money, I would say go elsewhere We had a last minute flight delay and I booked IHG b/c I’m a member and love their chain This hotel just isn’t up to par

Returned after 1st staying 14 years ago and enjoyed it just the same if not more this time Missed eating at the table like traditional bed and breakfast (darn you COVID!) and missed the chocolate bar set-up, however breakfast was filling and chocolate was served whenever you would ask Enjoyed sitting outside the property, taking in the scenery and relaxing (beautiful yard and garden area), or just hanging out in our room

Beds are super comfy! Stayed in the king room this time (queen room on prior stay) Soaking in the tub is very relaxing, and we used Sandy’s homemade bath salts that were provided Jim and Sandy really take pride in caring for the property and sharing the history of it Would definitely return again for another anniversary weekend!

Cheryl Even

We came for a tour and were quite impressed by our tour guide Jim, the owner of the mansion He was very friendly and gave us so much information about the history of the mansion Because it’s a living history museum, we were able to touch everything and feel like we were part of the history he was sharing

We would definitely return, and hopefully even stay overnight

Dana Michelle Smith

My husband and I stayed at the mansion in November for our local, honeymoon weekend We loved our experience We felt like we stepped into an episode of “Downton Abbey

” We felt like a Lord and Lady walking through the mansion, exploring and delighting our senses with the grandeur, beauty, history and craftsmanship Thank you Jim and Sandy for being a welcoming host and hostess Mr and Mrs Anderson

Hotel was okay Not the worst but for the price the rooms could be more up to date and more well kept When you first walk in you are expecting more from the rooms because the overall experience when you first walk is great

Hotel lobby, bar area and pool is very well kept The gym and pool are absolutely amazing The restaurant for food was very expensive No free breakfast The staff was friendly Our room closet door was broken, the shower was very hard to work, the TV worked at first but the longer you had it on it would go dark and you couldn’t see it

Bastion Tec

Room was clean, quiet Comfortable bed Courteous, pleasant staff

A good breakfast, and special kudos to Heidi for her delicious mélange of fried Yukon and red potatoes and onions! That combined with the Western omelets that were on the menu that day made for a fortifying breakfast for the day ahead Will definitely stay there again

Dave Christianer

I mean, the hotel itself is fine The room was clean, the amenities adequateBut, my problem with my stay is that I booked a King room about a month in advance

I get there, check in, get to my room, and find a double Queen Not what I paid for Go downstairs, the front desk employee(who isn’t wearing a mask Nor is the other employee with them at the desk Nor were any maintenance staff Like, you’d think that masks just didn’t exist at this hotel Not a single employee had one on at any point during my weekend stay) tells me that they didn’t have any King rooms available They tell me that the rate is the same, but honestly, how am I supposed to know that? I did this a month ago, I used my points, I have literally no way to identify what a double queen room costs vs what a King room cost at that pointNeither of the front desk employees were particularly apologetic about the situation But again, the rooms were clean, so it’s not a bad hotel, just bad customer service, and no masks apparently So I guess if you want to go here, be prepared to get a different room than what you paid for and also potentially get COVID, too

TillieAnn Boliard

Great room: very clean and nice Highly recommend the King Suite, it’s was more spacious and nice than the othersStaff was nice and helpful

I called them before hand with questions and they were super friendly and ready to be of assistanceThe room AC was not as powerful as we would have liked, but that’s not too big of a dealThey did not adequately refrigerate the to-go breakfasts that they gave out (I’m guessing the to-go breakfasts are a COVID only thing) This made the boiled eggs in them go bad That was our biggest issueOverall, a great place to stay Honestly, had it not been for COVID and the need for breakfast to be to-go, it would probably have been a perfect stayI highly recommend the King Suite More spacious and nicer than any other room option

The room was very nice, the location was very nice, the restaurants around the hotel were very very good, the housekeepers were very kind, and very loud! If you are getting up going to a job at 6:00 am it doesn’t matter, however at 9:00 a

m they all have key access to rooms but they put the stop latch in the door so they don’t have to use it therefore the door slams very loudly and if you imagine seven rooms open at one time and every time they go in each one they do that then there is no way you’re going to sleep after 9:00 am if you are there to rest We had it going on on the floor above us as well and we called the front desk to let them know and they said no one was in the room, meaning no guest, we later found out it was the housekeeper! Hotels who have housekeepers who are trained to be quiet but to be excellent are the ones who really thrive Outside of that the stay was excellent, I think if they just simply use their key access to get in rooms and consider that some guests may still be resting or babies resting as well, it will be a perfect stay for you Make sure you check out the restaurant “fire and smoke” next to it Excellent barbecue!

Bee Love

Clean!!! Staff is not bad, but there is this wonderfully nice manager type person She was so nice and helpful She seemed like a manager because she was helping a new front desk agent

Breakfast was not bad I wish they had chocolate muffins, English muffins, and more bread choices They had nice long breakfast hours for the holiday and never kicked people out Maintained very well Snow plows came immediately Very pleased with hotel

First thing to keep on mind is that this is a Best Western Plus, not a Ritz Carleton It’s the higher end of a lower end chain It’s a very basic hotel

I’m rating it with that mindsetThat said, for a BWP it’s a solid 4/5!The room was very clean other than a few spots on the curtains 4/5 The bathroom door handle was a little broken, but still closed and locked no problemBed/pillows/blankets were very comfortable – 5/5The shower pressure was really good – 4/5The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful – 5/5!Definitely recommend staying here!

Angelica “Güera” Vizcaya

Honestly one of the best hotels we have stayed in It smelled fresh and clean as soon as you walk through the doors We took our 7 kiddos on a 4 day vacation and have zero complaints as far as to the cleanliness of the hotel rooms and the staff’s friendliness

The breakfast was hot every morning with waffles, eggs, hash browns, sausage, coffee, tea, oatmeal, hot chocolate, tea and toast There was also yogurt, cereal, danishes, milk, orange juice, apple juice and fresh fruit The only thing we were annoyed by a bit was a group at the swimming pool splashing in everyone’s faces, throwing small children into the pool and then leaving a busted diapers filling on the bathroom floor Other than that, we would definitely stay here again

Charles Thorman

Had a reservation for 2 months in advance Went to check in and was told my Gold member rate was now higher because I hadn’t mentioned I had 2 kids on the reservation It was for a 2 queen bed room

Total guests it can accommodate is 4 But because I didn’t specify that originally, my charge was now $30 higher When I now go to view room rates, it does NOT change based on how many people I have on the reservation It has NEVER affected my rate as a rewards member or otherwise Front desk lady was not helpful and was not willing to honor reservation price Went to a different BW down the road who was much better anyway
