Pro:Nice hotel with clean & updated room Great location right next to Walmart, Dimond Center Mall and a few restaurantsCon:Internet is HORRIBLE at hotel

Their Wi-Fi is only 1-5 Mbps (Normal Wi-Fi is 50-100 Mbps) And the farther your room is from the center the weaker the reception I only had 1 out of 5 bars on my receptionWent to the office first day to ask about the internet modem The girl and two other employees had no idea what an internet modem was I paid for the room for a week and I needed to have a stronger internet for my workSo I had to spend the entire week walking to a Starbucks everyday to work with my computerThe other nicer hotels in Anchorage have strong internet with Wi-Fi at 70-120 MbpsThis hotel needs to spend a little more money and upgrade their internet serviceOverall:Good experience Clean hotel with friendly staff

Love the giant tubs! Only real downside to mention is that the bed mattress was probably past the end of its lifespan Also would like to see them open the secure parking lot behind the hotel for guest use All it is doing right now is being used for a bus the their shuttle van

Staff was very friendly and well located for shopping

sheydreams76

Staff is very pleasant The lobby is beautiful The room is spacious and has an incredible soaking tub that is to die for

The location is just right for us, very easy to get to the places we always want to visit Hot breakfast served in the lobby from 7-10 am, I appreciate the way they have handled breakfast during this pandemic I believe this might be my favorite hotel in Anchorage We will visit again! Thank you for a great stay!

Staff was absolutely excellent and the on site restaurants and coffee shop are totally worth checking out Grounds are well kept: I saw someone pressure washing some stone walls and I appreciate this attention to detail Rooms had lots of less than perfect paint and in room furniture is pretty beat up, but that’s okay since they’re starting their room renovation project this summer, so anyone reading this will probably end up staying in a newly renovated room

The fact that the new owners/management recognized a room renovation was needed shows that they’re paying attention The room I was staying in had a button on the nightstand that turns on the hallway “do not disturb” light for my room, so I felt like I was living the high class life and I hope this feature stays

Bridget Gaughan

Such a great time skiing here Didn’t stay at the resort but stayed close by and got lift tickets each day so we made it up to the restaurants on the tram, definitely do that on a clear day we had so much fun I appreciated the green slopes, they were just the right mix of easy but intimidating

Best skiing I’ve done so far, I hope to be back next year!

Corrine Falcon

I enjoyed visiting the resort when I had a pass for the Tram followed by an incredible dinner Unfortunately It was a last minute stop in the area and it was booked for evening The resort has many wonderful shops (picked up some souvenirs and gifts) as well as wonderful pieces of art through out the resort

Would love to come back and book a stay with my husband

Great place to stay but I would stay the downside to our stay is no one had any respect to keep their voices down in the late and early hours The rooms are not very sound proof from the outside nor the inside Everything else was great though from the staff to the breakfast

This is also in a great location to the airport, downtown, surrounding ski areas, etc

Dinner and service were fantastic! Way better than any restaurant in Anchorage I highly recommend reserving a coveted window seat before heading out for the glacier tour We walked off the ferry to our table and made it in time for the 7pm tunnel

The salmon was perfectly blackened with amazing wild rice seasoned with broth and crispy seasonal veggies perfectly done The shrimp on angel hair pasta was fresh, plump and wonderfully garlicky! So great with fresh tomatoes and zucchini After a week in Alaska we were starting to wonder if we’d ever find good food This was a great end to a perfect day on the water!

Kay-Kay M.

Didn’t stay here, but my husband and I tried the restaurant for dinner The steak nachos were great, but could use a bit more cheese He had the grilled halibut dinner which was amazing

I had the veggie primavera with salmon It was excellent, but just a bit too salty The tropical martini was super good Service was friendly and efficient

josh baldwin

Arrived in Whittier from a ferry and didn’t want to make the drive to Anchorage We stopped in and asked about room availability With the season not in full swing we didn’t expect there to be vacancies

The owner, Todd, went above and beyond and had a room ready for us after we had some warm drinks and food in the loungeDaniel, the bartender was very welcoming and a pleasure to chat withThe room was very cozy and really enjoyed the heated tile in the bathroomThis place is really special and we wish you the best this season, thank you!!

The rooms and amenities are nice, however the front desk woman working the night shift was extremely rude Other than her, we really enjoyed our stay and the short drive to downtown was not bad at allThe complimentary breakfast and lunch/dinner menu was great

Overall the stay was nice, just be aware the staff isn’t friendly if you have to check in or request something during the late evening

TK Barnes

Two bedroom suite Sparsely furnished Most uncomfortable couch ever sat in

Only two chairs for table for a king and 2 queen beds at suite With 4 adults staying, I called for two more and was basically stated I was SOL Went down next morning and after speaking with day manager and letting him know as Hilton Diamond member this was totally unacceptable, two more chairs were brought up Shower had free flow of water out Had to use towels as barrier Suite setup backwards Private bathroom was with two queen beds and not the king Air circulation horrible throughout suite At least 5 degrees warmer in King bedroom Breakfast was Awesome, best thing about stay

Amanda West

We originally reserved a room at another hotel for our 17th wedding anniversary After seeing how gross and dirty the other hotel was we transferred to Embassy Suites Fale was absolutely amazing

She checked us in for a two night stay She was so kind and compassionate about the hotel transfer The hotel was spotless The room smelled clean when we opened the door The room we had was immaculate, the bed was comfortable, and we couldn’t hear our neighbors at all The breakfast was wonderful with fresh chopped fruit, made to order pancakes, made to order french toast, and made to order omelets I asked for cooked vegetables with no eggs and the cook was super nice about the special orderOverall we had an absolutely wonderful stay We fly into Anchorage every few months We will be staying at the Embassy Suites every time we are in Anchorage

I’m a local and we were looking for a place downtown for brunch Forgot how busy downtown gets during the summer Stopped at the Captain Cook just to see and we got a seat right away

I have stayed in the Captain Cook Hotel a couple of times in the Winter and it’s nice and the staff is very friendly But for our brunch that day the Salmon omelet was AMAZING! and I think the coffee was complimentary Nice and quiet Very enjoyable! A good place to go for breakfast and lunch

Q L

Love it! It’s very classic hotel and the best restaurant in town (Crow’s nest) you must make a reservation in advance for better experience We booked junior suite

Not bad at all We love the big widows and it can be opened few inches as well Allowed us to get some fresh air in winter Room has big heating walls Very comfortable

Todd Marcucci

Location is great, right next to the Anchorage Trolley Tour and lots of dining options Staff is excellent and the room and hotel were exceptionally clean The rooms are

a bot dated May be in keeping with the theme, but the entire hotel a d rooms are quite dark If it were not for the modern conveniences and cleanliness it would seem to have been styled in the 70s and maintained that way The stay was spread and will consider it again

Close to the airport – has a shuttle but I didn’t need to use it so can’t testify to service Room was clean Adjacent to a Wendy’s

Would love it if they did the “breakfast to go” bags for the early flights – breakfast doesn’t start till 6am Does have a $100 incidental charge that will be applied to your credit card I arrived early and they were able to accomodate with an early check-in Very friendly staff

Stacey Jurecka

I was informed my reservation was cancelled when I arrived at the hotel even though I booked it 4 months in advance They claimed my card wouldn’t clear, but I could have easily resolved that at check inReceived no call or email notifying me

No voicemail was left either Front desk staff tried to aggressively blame me at check in and did not offer to help me find new accommodations for my familyI’ve never had this happen at any other holiday inn express and I’ve stayed at many over the years Avoid!

Tom Sasso

Raven at the front desk has been nothing short of an absolute superstar! She is kind, helpful, understanding Raven has made the check in and check out process simple My only complaint was an old male employee, potential manager, he was very rude to staff and patrons of the hotel

I felt he was super demeaning to his staff The hotel was clean, the room was clean

My husband and I stayed here for four nights and five days I didn’t have high hopes about our reservation here prior to our stay because I had called to inquire regarding toiletries provided by the hotel (which are face bar, shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion by the way) and the receptionist answered the phone laughing and barely making sense When I asked her what kind of toiletries their hotel offered she asked me what I meant because they offer the usual items

When we arrived, the receptionist who checked us in was really agitated, unprofessional, and pretty aggressive with us But the room made up for these two instances Walking into our room the housekeeper had done a fantastic job The room did not smell like smoke or any other foul smell: our room actually smelled clean and well The bathroom was very clean, the counters too, however, the bedding had human hair on it and thankfully we took our own bedding because this is an issue we encounter often It’s nearly impossible to find a hotel that has clean, free of human hair, unstained bedding With regards to location, this hotel is within two miles from Anchorage Airport and very close from downtown Anchorage! We stayed here in the beginning of April and the nights were not freezing cold, our room was warm and the entire hotel was kept at a very warm, pleasant temperature! There was one strange situation in which one receptionist named Chi didn’t want to replace our bedding on the third night after we accidentally spilled half a water bottle on our comforter He said housekeeping was not working at the moment but based on all of my stays at different hotels, the front desk has access to spare bedding and towels, this is not something selectively available to the housekeeping staff

Jeff Pepper

Nice clean rooms! Very nice restaurant/bar! I had a room with a great view I travel in & out of Alaska every month and stay at the lakefront when passing through Never had an issue

They pick you up at the airport & drop you off no charge, No hassle! FYI if you join there rewards club you get a discount Super convenient online check-in just grab and go

Ruth Spittler

I stayed at Lakefront two years ago and was impressed with how nice it was so we reserved a room for yesterday only to find that it has been run down quite a bit I understand the pandemic hurt everyone but I’m talking about gnarly carpet and dirty coffee stained walls

things that don’t need to be replaced but cleaned It’s a very convenient location, the staff are attentive and I appreciate the hotel shuttle service but next trip will find me looking for different accommodations

It’s a shame what this hotel has become I used to stay here regularly when traveling back and forth for work After the sale prices went up, so I went elsewhere, but occasionally came back to stay

There weren’t may positive experiences, some nice people The prices are ridiculous for the rooms, the updates are superficial The annex rooms are trash, and lately have been dirty If u stay on the end room, road side in the annex you get traffic noise all night Last I stayed a couple weeks ago, it was so hot I had the window and door open till about 3 am It was still near 83 inside With the cars, no sleep Even the Puffin Inn has AC Seriously, its time for AC units Heating in the rooms is hit or miss with the controls for it I’ve been in rooms where you had to open the window wide open in the winter to keep it cool Usually in the main building upstairs Shuttle wait is terrible Another long time customer I travel with said he waited almost an hour one night He is pretty much done too Employee turnover seems to be high, always someone new I’ve tried to email the manager a couple times, never got a response There are a lot better deals, and nicer places to stay

Niki Lin

The staffs here are super helpful and nice, the location is great that near to the airport and the free airport shuttle is convenient But my room is in a separate building, which is adjacent to the street, very noisy And the room is so small

Considering the price (around $180/night), which is the same price as Hotel Captain Cook, I would not come back for this one…

Lisa Frey

The rooms are extremely clean

spotless and quiet, the staff is very kind and helpful, and the beds are like sleeping on a cloud The kitchen has a complete set of flatware and dishes, as well as cooking and baking suppliesstove, microwave, dishwasher, and refrigerator It is conveniently located near the airport and major routes in and out of Anchorage There is a freezer room available for you fishing and game if needed I would definitely stay here again as well as recommend this to anyone who wants a quality hotel at a very reasonable price

We stayed here before an early morning flight and it’s in a perfect location They offer a free shuttle to the Ted Stevens International Airport The hotel itself is large and modern and very nice

The lobby area is large and bright The people I talked to at the check in desk were all friendly and helpful Our room was really big and clean and extremely comfortable The free WiFi was the fast There is a gym and a pool We ordered hamburgers from the restaurant and the woman even offered to bring them to our rooms for us The hamburgers were large and tasted very good We’d stay here again if coming through Anchorage

V G

The breakfast is by far the best continental breakfast I’ve ever had I’m not even a breakfast person but I am while I stay here They have fresh eggs and sausage or bacon every morning with either potatoes or French toast

They have breakfast sandwiches and burritos you can heat up if you’re on the go They also have cereal, pastries, fruit, milk, ample tea and coffee to choose from The chef takes a lot of pride in his job and keeps everything well stocked and interacts with the guest In my opinion this really makes the hotel shine brighter than the many we’ve stayed in The room we’re in has a fold out couch large enough for my two sons The housekeeping is awesome, our room was immaculate Honestly I am so impressed! The pool area and gym are also very clean and well put together I am utterly impressed and shocked the reviews aren’t even better The tea, coffee and hot chocolate are available 24/7 in the lobby at no extra charge I highly recommend! We’re staying here for two weeks it’s been four days so far and our stay has been so great already I had to leave a review! I will attach photos soon I read the reviews before we stayed here because we have three children and I wanted a safe environment and the other reviews do not do this hotel justice Everything you need to cook and eat is in the room We are staying on the second floor, there’s coin laundry which is so convenient My husband and I have traveled a lot being that he is a military member and we have family all over the world and I have to say this hotel is definitely the best we’ve stayed at in the United States I appreciate they have hot/boiling water available in the lobby at all times which can be very important for international travelers who enjoy tea or warm water to drink It’s the little things like the entryway compartment, dishwasher and blackout blinds that make this stay exceptional

Grace Lin

We booked two nights for Hyatt House Anchorage (indicated late check-in) and was already charged for the amount We arrived at exactly 3 am since our flight was delayed When we arrived the front-desk told us our reservation is cancelled as no-show, and the hotel was fully booked so there was no more room for the day

This was so ridiculous since we didn’t get any notice And we have two little kids in the car, the younger one is only 2 years old They send us a motel nearby and asked us to stay there for one day That’s also very inconvenient for us since we have a lot of stuff to load and unload, and that’s why we booked two nights at first place In the end, my two little could only spent the whole night in the car I am just soooooo disappointed at this issue, and by the way I was at Explorist Tier which includes a benefit called “Guaranteed Availability” We only got 6 days for the entire trip and this issue basically cost us one day and I don’t see any sincerity Please at least treat your members with some respect!!!!

I have stayed at almost every hotel in anchorage and this one is so far one of the better places I have stayed, now I did stay in the king suite which might be why but the place is inviting when you walk in and the rooms are clean and do not smell like most rooms The beds are still old style coil but feel newer then most as far as bouncing and blow your back out It was pretty quite if you stay on the side away from the highway because you can hear all the traffic on the highway side and it is pretty loud

The room had nice climate control that other hotels lacked in I would comfortably stay here again

S

Clean, neat, nice, large Very good two layers curtains for daylight summer Got a kitchen too

Free coffee, tea, fruit downstairs in the lobby Free breakfast from 7:00 Gym and pool if you have spare time I was completely exhausted from all the trips Otherwise I would enjoy more facilities in the building Close to the airport If you have a car, this is definitely a great place to stay Stay away from downtown hotels Noisy as hell at night

T H

Great location to/from the airport Check-in was fine, Diamond honors status wasn’t acknowledgedThe room was spacious, well equipped and everything in working condition

Breakfast was hit and miss, there was always something that needed to be replenished and seemed like it wasn’t Kind of like, we have 10 bagels today and when they are gone that’s it

The hotel room itself was okay In between our two king size beds were what looked like a blood stain on the carpet which made the other residents I was with and I uncomfortable The view outside the windows themselves were of the backs of buildings so nothing extraordinary at all

The restaurant food was expensive and not worth it I ordered a burger and the bun was completely soaked with grease before it even arrived at the table We ordered ranch with our appetizer of chicken wings and it was literally cheap packeted ranch which for a restaurant that was depicted as, as fancy, the quality in amenities was overestimated for what they charged The free breakfast in the morning was a lot better, but that may only be because it was just packagedThe pool didn’t have duty life guards or safety precautions There was a horrible draft downstairs and only got worse with the nightOverall, the experience itself at the hotel was overestimated by the reviews and I would not recommend it to other people

Megan Suder

Hands down the best service my family and I have received while traveling and staying at a hotel We were greated with a smile everytime we walked in and the employees went above and beyond to make sure we were well taken care of Seriously, everyone was so kind! The hotel is super clean, and our room was perfect! The kids had a blast playing in the pool and picking out their breakfasts at the breakfast bar each morning

Thank you Hyatt Place & staff! You all are phenomenal! ❤

JEFFREY M WAGNER

The room we had was a king bed and is kind of basic, but comfortable There is a breakfast, but it also is somewhat basic (scrambled eggs, potatoes, meat, cereals and drinks) The pool/hottub is a super highlight of the hotel

We spoke with the assist pool tech and we were informed that testing is done every two hours with stringent testing results required and daily flush & fill of the hottub

This place is nice to stay and enjoy the views It also has a local restaurant that also serves beers, but closes around 9pm There isn’t anything else around really to do other than taking a helicopter trip to the glacier

That being said, that’s something I didn’t expect and is a rather loud noise to start your day withWe took as a family 2 Cabins, that although we have order months in advance, we didn’t get a close pair, but 2 relatively far from each otherThe Cabins are equipped nicely and didn’t really miss anything They also have cute porches for each of the Cabins A small side table to the outdoor chairs can be a nice addition

Nice, relaxing and comfortable lodge, strategically located for a fantastic glacier tourThe restaurant, the personnel and the food quality were very nice, breakfast could be improved Receptionist could afford an extra smile and an extra blanket in the room would be appreciated

All together a nice stay

From start to finish, the stay at the Copper Whale Inn was incredible Booking was easy, extending to add another day was convenient and simple Lorene called to make sure we had instructions for arriving late and when I got lost (my bad, her instructions were perfect), I was able to call her and she directed me right to our front door

The bed was super comfortable, the breakfast provided was delicious, and the service continued to be top notch The downtown location for our plans to be on foot was the perfect place to be! I would definitely stay here again and again!

Our room was very cozy and the inside of the inn had beautiful decorations The owners were very friendly and helpful, especially when they helped me get the charger I had accidentally left there I highly recommend staying here, since it is also within walking distance of several restaurants and pubs

Overall, staying for several nights was a great experience!

Stayed here for a couple of nights on our trip from Anchorage to Fairbanks I was in one of the renevated rooms (the Speakeasy) and it was greatHad the breakfast bar in the morning and it had a nice variety of foods

There was a good selection of teas to brew as well which was nice as im not a coffee drinkerFinally, this was a work trip so it was nice to be able to go to the common area at night and have a table to work at with some soft music and tea Even enjoyed the company of some other guests in the common ares on my first night here

Location was near a few shops & restaurants, however the area was a bit sketchy; the hotel even locked it’s front door at night Breakfast was not impressive; cereal was stale, only a couple fruit options & the eggs/sausage was round so enough said The room was clean with comfy beds & pillows

While I knew the hotel was historic, I would not consider it luxurious; it could use some updating There is no AC, but a decent fan was in the room There was also an elevator; a plus if you have a lot of luggage The email confirmation I received upon booking said checkout was at noon; the information book in the room said the same I received a phone call at 11:10 AM asking why I had not yet checked out; while she was pleasant & allowed me another half hour, when I did check out at the desk she said the checkout time was changed a year prior I found the hotel decent but on the expensive side; it does live up to the historic element Had I known there was a modern hotel literally right next door, I would have chosen to stay there instead

As for historic, Alaska owned businesses go, this place was rather wonderful The room was clean and vintage My biggest complaint was the noticeable lack of outlets in room 215

If you enjoy paranormal stuff, this place has a reputation for being a bit hauntedParking fee is a bit high in my opinion

I am very disappointed at this hotel The heating was not working properly the two night stayed there in March My lotion bag went missing after I used it in the morning

Called and asked the front desk; she said I will check on it and call me back which never did I called again few hours later, another receptionist said he will look into it and called me back in 3 minutes stating that he didn’t find it Talked to the manager in the next morning, the manager and two housekeepers said they checked the trash and didn’t find anything The manager kept asking me if I left it somewhere else and she said she believed in her housekeepers; sounded like I made up the whole story(which I did not make it up!) She said I am sorry but didn’t seems sincerely Also one of the housekeepers left a comment stating that’s crazyMy friend and I did not ask for any compensation We just wanted to get the problem fixed or get my lotion bag with all the items in it; however, we did not appreciate their attitude towards this situationI would not recommend to stay at this hotel

I have been staying here for a very long time If you stay for a few days you for sure won’t be let downThe hotel is in a great location close to the water downtown There are lots of easily walkable trails and restaurants The staff are friendly and helpful The rooms are spacious and many have great views (we were on the 9th floor facing the mountain range) Definitely a great place

Scott Griest

Great location that you can walk to almost everything but is in the heart of downtown Amazing water views from high floors So request one

Service was top notch and rooms have new furniture update with super comfy beds Only down side is no in room safe for usBonvoy members breakfast is full English breakfast and then some on the top floor with great views from 6am to 10am Afternoon snacks (they charge for alcohol) good too from 5pm to 10pm

Michelle Puszynski

Rooms were nice- comfortable bed, roomy shower But the staff was incompetent and honestly rude I had Called to extend a night 30 min prior to my arrival and the woman in guest services was rude

She did tell me they had room to extend and just to come to the front desk and request, “wouldn’t be an issue” I get There and want to extend and am told by the man quite rudely that there was no availability- incompetent and rude staff makes me rate this quite low The staff and customer support makes the place- be better

Room and hotel itself are like any other 3-star hotel Nothing special that makes this place a “four star hotel”The breakfast needs some serious attention

They call it a “breakfast buffet” and charge you $20 per person We went three days straight and each day was the same horrible experience:1) no clean tables to sit at; all full of dirty dishes2) no clean silverware or plates to use (probably because it’s all sitting on the tables)3) the trays of food empty and not getting replenished… so you stand around 10/15+ waiting for scrambled eggs or a fork4) only two servers, and only they can get you a drink, so we waited over 30 minutes to get a cup of coffeeWill not be back

Angela Ugalino

honestly one of the better hotel experiences I’ve had The staff working the breakfast buffet in the morning, were particularly kind, helpful, and welcoming, and got my day off to a great start The christmas decorations were very pretty and the straightforward thermostat in the room was much appreciated

They offer breakfast vouchers and that’s a big plus Thank you for a really pleasant stay!
