My wife and I came to Bardstown for our anniversary and stayed at the Bourbon Manor This old house has tons of character, great outdoor spaces to relax, a fantastic breakfast, and is very close to the center of town The staff were friendly and we really enjoyed our stay

It seemed like there was plenty of parking, and the a/c kept that old house cool despite temperatures in the 90s Bathroom was a bit quirky but everything was perfectly clean and the quirks are par and parcel of a beautiful old building like this We’ll be back for sure!

Paul was our host/jailer and made the entire experience completely awesome! From his courtesy to his breakfast, I was blown away!! We were treated like family and anything we needed or wanted was supplied!Paul would check on our itineraries and make sure everything was a go, plus he would recommend and help us plan our adventures if we needed suggestions! On the day of our Ann, we came back from several tours to find our rom decorated and covered with rose petals! Talk about going the extra mile!!!The tour of the B&B alone is worth the trip! If you visit the Bourbon Trail, this is the place to stay! Friendly and inviting full of history and charm!

First, a couple of high points The staff is great They are extremely pleasant and helpful

They honestly could not have been more pleasant Also, the hotel is cleanUnfortunately, that’s were the good stuff ends Here are the negatives:1 Low water pressure Very aggravating when you’re trying to take a shower or flush a toilet2 Amenities: Everything is dated to 2005 That means, furniture, light bulbs, TVs, carpet, pool… the only updated amenities were the key reader on the door and the thermostat3 Bathroom: there was no dry mat for stepping out of the shower and with two queen bed room, that sleeps four, we only two wash cloths Also, there is no working exhaust fan in the bathroom4 Breakfast: With 45 minutes remaining for breakfast… almost everything is empty The dining are is almost full, but most people are frustrated that they are having to make due with slim options Finally, a few of us asked for more omelets to be brought out… five minutes later, we had omelets for 85 Coffee: the lobby and breakfast area only had light roast and decaf coffee, and the light roast was pretty weekIn summary, I travel quite often and I have stayed at more Hampton Inns than I can count This facility fell way below my expectations for a Hampton Inn They either need to invest significantly to make upgrades or just sell this hotel to a lower standard chain

The bed was horrible Springs poking you and sounding like they’re about to break Rooms were very dated

Pool was closedStaff was very friendly and breakfast was pretty goodRoom was mostly clean other than the silverfish in the tub and a sticky bathroom floor

Jenny

Very old and unkept property Weeds, trash everywhere, overgrown landscaping, filthy elevators, no AC in the hallways The bed was the most uncomfortable I’ve ever slept on

You can literally feel the springs in the mattress This hotel is definitely not up to standards for Hampton InnIn addition as a Diamond Member, we were not offered the snacks at check in Will not stay here again

My traveling companion and I stayed at Old Bardstown Inn for two nights while attending a weekend concert at The Amp at Dant Crossing in nearby New Haven, Kentucky And our experience was

somewhat unevenThe staff was very friendly at check-in We didn’t make it until nearly 1 am our first night, but we were kindly accommodated The room was very clean and comfortable, with a large TV, firm but still-comfy beds, and and a remote-controlled AC unit So far, so good However, although the sign out front advertised “FREE WI-FI,” the password the front desk provided us never actually allowed us to connect to it Good thing we both have good data plans on our phonesHowever, although our stay was just fine, our last day at the Inn was VERY off-puttingSince my companion and I had a 7 hour drive ahead of us on the Sunday we were to leave, we had packed the night before so we could sleep in until about 30 minutes before the 11 am check-out time But the staff evidently had other ideasFor starters, she and I were blasted out of sleep by someone operating what sounded like a VERY loud leaf blower outside the room at 9:30 am On a Sunday morning, no less! And whoever it was made several passes back and forth for about 20 minutes JUST outside the doors It was the absolute definition of a rude awakening, and felt oddly intentional Nonetheless, we were able to drop back off, and get a bit more sleep once the noise stoppedBut we were awakened again exactly an hour later by an automated wake-up call we had absolutely NOT requested We’d planned to be up by then anyway, but it still struck us as very crass and invasive Then, just as we were leaving, the phone rang It was the front desk brusquely asking us if we planned to stay another night It was EXACTLY 11 am on the dot Seriously?!? We told the person calling no, and informed him that we were leaving at that moment So we gathered our bags, and walked outUpon exiting the room, there was an irritated-looking man standing there we didn’t recognize, arms crossed So we started walking toward the office to drop off the room key He flagged us down, and stretched out his hand, flapping his fingers at us impatiently So, we gave him the key He IMMEDIATELY turned around, opened the room we’d just left, and began storming through it stripping sheets and emptying the bins By the time we got our bags in the trunk, he was already stomping out with our trash and linensLook, I work in hospitality marketing, so I understand check-out times But I also understand that a grace period of a few extra minutes for guests to gather their things and be on their way is an industry standard practice So the staff’s “Thanks for staying with us, now GET THE HELL OUT RIGHT NOW” attitude right on the absolute nose of 11 (with extremely unpleasant and intrusive noise and phone calls leading up to then) just came off as ill-mannered and extremely nasty Even though our stay to that point had been pleasant and comfortable, the snippy shooing behavior as we were leaving just left a REALLY bad taste in our mouths And because of that, I can’t really recommend staying hereAdvice to the staff: hospitality is all about the guest experience And it doesn’t end the precise SECOND the paid-for part of the stay is over — much less in the hours leading up to that moment You have a nice hotel in a good location So you may want to consider being just a LITTLE less rude as guests are leaving if you’d like them to ever consider returning

Great food and history in this one location We had a few of the special drinks and they all were good The Kentucky Brown was by far my favorite and the club sandwich did not disappoint
