Generally speaking, when you stay at a Marriott you expect something that’s a little bit above the normal This one does not disappoint Although the last renovation was done in 2018, the physical plant is in excellent condition I looked hard and could find almost no evidence of where anywhere

The front desk staff greeted us immediately and was able to answer any questions we had As with many merits, they do do a hot breakfast and this one seems to be a pretty nice selection, with a plentiful spacious eating area to utilize They have a fair size weight room with about five pieces of equipment Elevators were quick and clean, and the room was excellent Bathroom had plenty of space to turn and move etc etc – not cramped like it can be in other hotels There’s plenty of parking on both sides of the building All in all, well worth the price and you won’t regret coming here to stay

This is one of the nicest places I have ever stayed at! The staff upon check-in were so friendly and helpful The hotel itself is spotless and beautiful Our room was wonderful

Immaculate and smelled wonderfully clean Hot shower along with big comfy towels The bedding smelled clean and looked new The bed was so comfortable Would definately stay here again!

Kathy Smith

Great place to stay! The lady at check in was very nice and helpful The entire place was very clean, including our room The rooms are large and the beds are comfy! The only suggestion I would make is to have different cereal choices at breakfast and maybe scrambled eggs and biscuits and gravy

A waffle maker wouldn’t hurt either That didn’t lower my score, though

I stayed here about a week ago for a night while I was in town I requested a quiet room on the second floor and the sweet lady at the desk was very accommodating I had been in a couple hotels in the region and thatbwas the first good night’s sleep I got

Phyllis helped me so much with my breakfast on the morning She is an absolute gem, and I really hope they recognize her for hard work and outstanding customer service I was bringing food and coffee up the room for my husband and myself, and she kept offering things like to go boxes, drink holders she even put my fried apples in a coffee cup so my food didn’t get too messy You are lucky to even get a tray at other hotels, let alone have someone package up your breakfast and do it with such a cheerful personality Courtney, who was serving was also really sweet These girls got me off to a great start Thank you, Phyllis <3

Mike Edwards

Good stay, good staff, good service Breakfast line included individual servers for the eggs, sausage, Canadian back, etc (Keep track of the ticket they gave you at check-in!) Waffle maker was a little iffy

Room AC was super cold; at 77 degree-setting it was still freezing in there! But seriously, it was a good stay at a convenient spot on a long trip A little tricky to get to, but a good stop nonetheless

A nice out of the way hotel Has a restaurant in the parking lot Check in was quick and easy

the rooms were nice and clean and beds were comfortable It was nice and quiet and got a good nights sleep The breakfast is the best one I have received yet at Choice hotels Very nice selections and variety to choose from Food and coffee was hot Will be back at this location when I am back in the area

Jake

We passed through WV on our way home from the Outer Banks The room was affordable, and we’ve had good luck with Sleep Inns in the past Thistime was no different

Front desk was welcoming and helpful They had complementary choc chip cookies, popcorn, coffee, hot choc, and hot tea available in the lobby This was great for my 4 year old Room was clean and suited our needs While I gave it a 5 out 5, some considerations: no pool, about 8 min outside the city (which wasn’t a huge deal to us), and our room at least had the sink outside of the bathroom which was a little odd and inconvenient, but not enough to be a major drawback

Tarah Carr

Very pleased as a gold member this is one of the nicest places I’ve been in a while Quick and easy check in with friendly knowledge staff Clean updated rooms

Giant continental breakfast with a large variety Coffee and tea 24/7 and complimentary popcorn 🍿 cookies 🍪 and soup 🍲 A cute pavilion for smokers by the river, and conveniently off the highway

This was an excellent stay The room was clean, the breakfast had good variety, and the staff was friendly and helpfulI had seen moldy bathrooms at other hotels recently

Breakfast spreads had been sparse or not even available at other locationsThe staff were happy to provide extra towels, and I was greeted warmly several times during my one-day stayI’d recommend this hotel over other, better-known chain hotels, due to more amenities, friendly staff, and even the lower pricePet-friendly was a big bonus, too

MARLA NARDO

Upon arrival, the lady at the service desk was welcoming, polite and professional The room was clean, spacious and comfortable We couldn’t get the tv to turn on, called the front desk and the maintenance guy came up promptly to remedy the problem

The pool was nice and the hot tub was decent, however the jets could have had more pressure Breakfast was great There are so many choices and it was all very fresh and tasty I will Definitely stay here again, when back in Charleston

executive4

Would stay again easily Kind and friendly staff Tucked away from a lot of city traffic

Highway traffic is very noticeable Was looking forward to hot tub, but was out of service Breakfast was excellent and very organized Not a lot of area to do much outside where 90% is parking I wouldn’t say kid friendly other than the pool Rooms a little outdated but the staff makes up for any short-comings from maintenance to washroom to room services Well done!

The employees were extremely nice and did what they could about a problem with our room The manager did give us a discount on our room However, the facility itself needs extreme updating

Our room had a missing panel over the showerhead so there were exposed pipes and we didn’t feel comfortable showering (so we didn’t) The sheets were clean, but the carpet was filthy In the morning at breakfast, the only employee we saw was trying to keep breakfast stocked and attend to the front desk It didn’t go well There was a significant leak by the front desk with open ceiling panels, towels on the floor, and a bucket to catch the water The walls between the rooms were quite thin and we could hear our neighbors well into the night We are appreciative of the nice employees and the discount from the manager, but we will not be returning nor recommending this location

Chris Morse

After nearly a decade in hospitality I’ve learned to be patient with properties as they try to do the best they can with what they have While the service I received from the second shift front desk person was awesome and the location was nice I must say this hotel sucked

Faucet room 206 literally sprayed me and the carpet was wet or moist I could have just been cleaned The entire place smelled musty and the breakfast was utterly undesirable Will not stay again

Kimberly Demeter

Not really worth the money New owners/management tried to be very accommodating, however, we got no key to the room, pool and ice machine were not working, no bowls for cereal, and no fruit If you can’t afford to run it and have repairs made prior to opening, charge less or wait to open

When we made our reservation, a pool WAS listed as an amenity Again, the staff was very nice

Remember to use Hᴏᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏᴄᴏm when booking your stay This web site will compare hundreds of hotel sites and typically will have rooms much cheaper than others! Thank me later on! This place is one of my favorites in this area

I’ve been staying here for a very long time If you decide to stay here you definitely won’t regret itAppears to be newly renovated Very comfortable, love having the pump shampoo etc in shower Close to lots of restaurants etc We walked to Black Sheep for great craft beer and a variety of upscale tacos- (not a Mexican food restaurant)

Kenn Pokrywka (Draco)

Extremely busy and in the evenings was noisy till about midnight Stayed 2 weeks Now to be fair they were full due to soccer, concerts, track and a few other events

The guests were not very considerate towards other guests The staff were short and not very accommodating My team was booked till Friday morning but the hotel cut us short and made us checkout before work we start at 5 am Now we worked til 6 pm in 97* heat and we’re extremely smelly and filthy Most of the team had to drive 8 hours or more to get home like that I found a hotel an hour north All in all not an enjoyable time Maybe it’s better now but I will not come back

Jessie Ca

Super busy place There were A Lot of people who were clearly locals hanging out in the lobby/ lounge area The staff was pretty nice but, our room was NOT clean even though it appeared so at first

There was no soap for the sink so we used what was in the shower, there was a coffee stain (looked fresh) on the fitted sheet (we slept on the flat sheet) and there was a weird and large stain on the chaise that didn’t look like a coffee stain I called downstairs and they were pleasant and offered to send someone up to clean it and told them no thanks as were were just going to bed as we were exhausted and were not going to use that seat I was so shocked as I’ve stayed in lots of IHG hotels before and none have been this disappointing I am so glad we were only passing through for just 1 night

After a two-hour search for a last-minute Charleston area hotel room, I snagged the last available room at Microtel As I was traveling in the next day, I wanted my Mom to be able to check in ahead of me Kelly called me right away to help me make arrangements for this to happen as my Mom did not have my credit card to produce upon check-in

Kelly was SUPER helpful, a true pleasure to deal with When I checked in the next evening, I met Michelle, who was also a pleasure to encounter after a long day of travel and dealing with a family medical emergency The overnight lady, whose name I wish I had gotten, helped me reserve the room one more night so my Mom could leave the hospital and shower/rest/reset This lady helped ease my heart and mind over what has been some devastating news concerning my sick family member Honestly, the room was clean and comfy The location was perfect Traveling alone, I felt safe But the truth is, the accommodations could have been sub-par, and the ladies, who work there would have made up for it The staff were all so helpful and pleasant, the rest almost didn’t matter at all ❤️

Rhys

Very clean and comfortable! But what was exceptionally impressive was the receptionist! There was a small room mixup in the system that lead to some minor confusion, but Michele was an absolute angel Went above and beyond to make things right, even personally checking the room herself before handing over the keys to be sure everything was in order Will definitely be returning here for future trips!

S Thomas

They have bed bugs! DO NOT STAY HERE! We stayed here last weekend for a soccer tournament and came back with bites all over us Just read the most recent reviewsAlso the African American lady at the front desk was incredibly RUDE

We walked in and she was on a personal phone call we had to wait for her to finish for her acknowledge us When she asked for our debit card and ID we tried to explain to her that we had already paid and her words verbatim were “that ain’t got nothin to do with me, I still need your card”This was the biggest waste of money, I would never ever recommend this hotel Rooms were mediocre, breakfast was terrible The cereal was stale and there was maybe 3 options Yogurt, waffles and stale cereal Just an overall terrible experience

I want to start out by saying I did not have a hotel of choice in the Charleston area being I only live about 25 hours away and never really needed the service,

until I did! My mother was in hospital very ill and I couldn’t travel that 2x a day so a hotel it what I called home for over 15 months It was such a busy time for the hotels with many events going on but they welcomed me after I explained my purpose and made allowances so I didn’t have to worry about if I had a place to stay No other hotel was able to do that! And this particular hotel stayed booked as well! From the general manager to front desk, Lori, Jamie, Darion, to all the sweet and wonderful house keeping to maintenance Just a wonder experience that helped me get through the most scary and unpleasant time I felt like a true guest and among friends and I will always use this hotel in that area and no other! My husband works for a company that has many employees that travel every where and he was so greatful for all their kindness as well and hopes to get this hotel some good business from respectable blue collar workers! I know nothing is perfect but I just do not have any negative remarks what so ever I’m not a big review person ether by leaving one or reading one but this may help someone else make a great choice We have finally made it home and everyone helped me get through and back to home! Much love to everyone!

I’ve stayed at many Hampton Inns around the USA, this by a mile was the BEST one yet! The staff was incredible, always asking if we needed anything not one employee ignored us walking by them Clean room, comfy bed, even the sofa bed my 10 yr old said was the most comfortable she’s slept in The location is convenient, we were there for a family member in the hospital

Lots of dining and shopping optionsThis will be my go to accomodations when I travel to Charleston WV

The Harrison Bunch

Clean, comfortable beds, friendly staff The bathroom needs a ventilation system though and breakfast was ok but not the best It was a nice hotel though

My only problem and it wasn’t the hotels fault But took the kids to the pool and some parents thought it was ok to bring their sick child swimming who was coughing and all stuffy The poor kid could hardly breath while swimming You could tell she was sick So if you were that parent please be considerate of others I had to pull my kids out early I was afraid they’d catch something and with Covid going around you need be safe Not the hotels fault at all I just wish others were more considerate Thank you!

Nice clean and very friendly Actually my first time to a casino Lots of spaces to park and some spaces is far away

I ran upon a elderly lady and her daughters hit 500 dollars That was my excitement for the night I play a couple machines but eventually lost my budget, but it’s okay They had a live band there and it was full of people I would go again

Vanessa Pearson

Awesome casino! They even have the old-fashioned 1 line 3 reel slot machines like Double Diamond and Red White and Blue!Their slots have been tight for the last 6 months or so, but I think they’re starting to loosen them up again! I was able to play for hours last night and still leave with more money than I came with!

HTX Trucker

Been a few years since I been here and seems like business has slowed down even more This place has never really been busy since when I used to come here in first place Poker room barely had 1 to 2 tables open in the past and 1 craps table

Today Poker room is closed for the next few days and craps closed too One thing I’ll say is the Cafe has some pretty good food Can never go wrong with the burger

After deciding not to stay where we had planned (campground will go unmentioned), because, in our opinion, the roads leading to it were narrow and dangerous, and the place looked really bad it was late in the day and we were perplexed at finding a campsite so late in the day but then we found Ted at Lazy K He told us to come on in and even helped us via phone to get there! We had full hookups and the place was really nice! Thank you Ted!

Scott Hammerbeck

The property here is beautiful and there is abundant wildlife The owner Ted was very welcoming and came to make sure we got in okay and gave great directions when we arrived so we found our site easily There are full hookups and our site is just lovely with wonderful views

It has been nice and peaceful to listen to the birds and crickets The road into the campground is a gravel road and there are a few potholes on the stretch in but we got in just fine with our 36ft motor home

Phyllis Loftin

Campground itself is lovely but very difficult to find Narrow, narrow dirt road Did major damage to RV trying to get into entrance

Tiny, tiny sign at front so missed it first time Had to travel a ways, unhook tow vehicle to turn around and come back Can’t recommend this place Owner is very pleasant but there’s no showers and it’s far from town and highway

We stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott on a stop through Charleston while driving from the east coast back to the Midwest The location was very convenient to the interstate, yet didn’t feel as though it was in the shadows of such a busy roadway In fact, it was nicely situated along the river, but with ample parking and easy in-and-out access

Unfortunately there weren’t a whole lot of other things within walking distance, but that wasn’t an issue for usService was friendly, but sparse as there was only one front desk staff there on a Saturday evening and Sunday morning The lobby and hallways seemed to be undergoing renovations as there were all kinds of new and old lobby furniture and wall hangings located all over the lobby, but I assumed that was temporary The bistro was also only open during evening hours, contrary to the signs in the elevator advertising breakfast No matter, as there is a brand new Starbucks located just across the parking lot, about a 30-second walk Overall if I were there for several days or having an event at the hotel, I would have been disappointed, but for personal travel it was a non-issueThe kids enjoyed the small pool (even though the water was very cold), and the receptionist was able to accommodate our adjoining room request despite some reservation discrepancies Everything felt clean, well maintained and comfortable, and that’s exactly what we needed after a long day of traveling and another long one the next day

TiffanyThompson

I wanted to make sure I left a positive review, because I had a good experience and I saw that there had been some negative reviews in the past I opted to split a trip in half and chose this hotel I stayed on the top (5th) floor and had the riverside view (odd-numbered rooms) and it was nice! (Pictures below) The floor was quiet, the room was clean, and the remodeled rooms have the beds facing out from the middle of the room, so the headboard isn’t against a wall of an adjoining room

My only beef was not getting the breakfast on Sunday morning, which they don’t offer on Sundays There is a Starbucks within easy walking distance, though There’s also a big patio area riverside with lots of seating, and several jet skis and boats went by Not a bad spot!

Rebecca S

I give one star for having a clean room Pool was closed They told me at the front desk because of the life ring being tore up but it was hanging perfectly on the wall

There’s no phone service, so the tv doesn’t have any channels And the fridge in our room isn’t working If you only need a pillow and a place to shower it’s not terrible but it is not child or infant friendly

Not fancy, but not disgusting I appreciated that our non-smoking room smelled clean Bottom line: It’s fine for a pretty clean feeling stay if the price is right

Otherwise, look elsewhereAlso, the complimentary breakfast is decent compared to some They certainly try and have hot food options, even if the quality is a bit lacking All in all, not bad

Jacob Valiant

My dog and I stayed here on the first night of our road trip from North Carolina to Alaska Our room, and the whole building, were very clean with nice beds The best part was the really good breakfast with a ton of options

Easily one of the best breakfasts from a hotel that I’ve had in a long time Thank you for a great start to my day!

April Pieh

Very disappointed When we arrived 1 of our 3 rooms that we booked wasn’t assigned or ready Then we were informed that there was a $20 extra dog fee per dog per day that wasn’t mentioned when we booked our rooms over 2 months ago

One of the reasons we chose this place is because they have a pool When checking in the pool is CLOSED! Then one of our suites tvs didn’t work and the exhaust in thebathroom didn’t work No apologies or compensation! Just rude over all checking in!Went to ours rooms they weren’t they the cleanest the beds had crumbs and lent under the sheets It was musty! A couple of the tubs needed to be cleaned better! We went to the store and bought cleaning products and air freshners If I could give a negative number I definitely would! Next time I will definitely drive a little further out of my way for something much better!!

The pet fee is $25 (I believe per night, we only stayed one night) which was the most reasonable pet fee I found in the area The lobby, restaurant, and pool were in good condition Breakfast is $10 a person, buffet style, kids eat free The food was good and we felt it was reasonably priced Every employee we encountered was nice and said helloCons: Pet area was on the smaller side and the pick-up station was out of bags We requested a first floor room since we were bringing a dog who needs to go out frequently for potty breaks, but we were placed in a 4th floor room Pet owners will understand this inconvenience Also before I booked this room I called to verify we would have a microwave as we planned to use it Unfortunately ours did not work correctly in room #407 as the plate did not have the little nubs on the bottom to allow it to turn I called the front desk asking for one that worked I thought they were bringing a replacement, but they just sent someone up who looked at it and said it must be a manufacturer defect The resolution was to take our stuff down to the lobby and use their microwave which was a sub-par resolution when you have small kids and a pet with you From my understanding they were not planning to place a new microwave in the room so if you need one, make sure you do not stay in room #407

FIRE ALARM went off between 615 and 630 am and no one seem to know what was going on, there was no staff making sure each room was evacuated

So we assumed it was a drillWhen we returned to the room, through the halls you could still smell what was an electrical smell We decided to leave but I asked the front desk for a refund and he just repeated back to me, “refund”? ” that wasn’t a drill, “do you think I can control the weather”?First of all, he never told me it was the weather that caused the alarms to go off and talked down to me like I should have known what was happeningNo staff went around to make sure the whole building was evacuated I know for a fact the whole building was not downstairs or evacuated I mentioned this to him and he said “I received some phone calls”, – what you received phone calls of what was happening? But didn’t evacuate them?I will tell you I am a safety official and am trained to evacuate people and I know for a fact this hotel did not handle that evacuation correctly1st, there was no audible evacuation commands whether automated or verbal being given if indeed this was a real emergency evacuationThen after insinuating that it was the weather, he then asked me if I smelled that electrical smell? We saw local electric company trucks parked outside the night before so this was not the weather, but an ongoing issue with something they were dealing with the night before electricallyWe just arrived and if there was a weather issue this could have been conveyed to us since it’s obvious we just arrived in town So talking down to us like we should have known was unprofessionalSo what was it? The weather? The electrical? Or both?Secondly , besides not evacuating in normal code procedures with an audible warning along with the already blaring alarm, the fact that the manager on duty took it personal is unfortunate and unprofessionalI never accused anyone for the alarm, I asked for a refund or some compensation for my unpleasant stay which if you are in the hospitality business you would want to do to keep regular business And because of the inconsistency of the facts regarding the cause of alarm is obvious there is a code violation and this could delay business if reportedWe will not be staying here again

More than 5 stars! At the end of June, my fiancee and I were on our way back to NW Ohio from a quick weekend in Virginia Beach when our car died on I-64 There’s more to add as to how awful that was, but for time’s sake, I’ll get to the review We arrived at the hotel on a Sunday morning

They originally had nothing for us until possibly early afternoon Then, a few minutes later, Kelli told us she got us a room Kelli is a godsend!! The staff were great and very courteous! The hotel is very nice and clean The hallways have a clean, fresh scent The room was excellent; nice and clean There is a pool, but we never used it The continental breakfast was always warm and delicious If we ever need or want to stay in Charleston again, this will be our first choice by far Thank you for turning a bad experience into a good one!

Very impressed with this Hampton Inn Made the reservation directly with front desk, the day before and received great service Arrived the next day, the front desk receptionist was friendly and helpful

Basically all staff were awesome The hotel was very clean, beds super comfortable and the hotel was quiet We were there on a Sunday night, that certainly helped on being pleasantly surprised by the low noise level
