The room was great, and the service was even better It is attached to part of the mall so it’s easy access for shopping as well The gym had both peloton as well as tonal! The front desk was super helpful in helping me get stuff mailed back after a work event as well! Highly recommended

The Gwen is stunning! Every detail of this hotel is well thought out from the furniture, decorations, artwork, food, and the staff The rooms are huge, the bed is comfortable, the rooms are quiet- none of that hallway or pesky neighbor noise you sometimes get in hotelsThe bar is gorgeous with so much variety

The rooftop patio is fun and is repurposed for winter and summer to get the best use of the outdoor space The location of the hotel is perfect with a lot of things close byThe event staff is top notch! Vasso was incredibly professional and so easy to work with She thought of every detail for our event and offered suggestions to make things go even smoother If you’re considering hosting an event in Chicago, the Gwen will be memorable for sure!

Absolutely stunning views Great room! Staff was kind and courteous the whole time Every time they saw me struggling with my toddler they offered to help us get to our room with our things

Everything was clean for the most part Took one star away because one of the pillows on the bed had a big brown stain on it Didn’t notice until we flipped the pillows over I think it was a stain that wouldn’t wash out but it was very off-putting But great location and wonderful staff overall We will definitely be back!

Sheri W S

Luis at the front desk was very attentive and friendly He greeted me as soon as I walked up and it took less than 5 minutes to get me checked in Lobby is a fairly large open space

Decorum is nice but the seats are VERY low The night I arrived there was a NBA playoff game on in the bar, very busy area and bartenders were on top of everything My room was spacious? Super clean and lots of outlets for your phone(s) and laptop and any other electronic device Amazing view of the lake Didn’t give 5 stars because there isn’t a 24 hr market pantry so I couldn’t get a soft drink after 10pm because the market area closes at that time A minor thing but good to know ahead of time

Richard Holborow

I stayed here for a conference The hotel is very impressive and has a great elevator system, to accommodate its huge height The rooms were very spacious with their own sofa and the bathrooms offered large showering and bathing areas

Are used to room service on one occasion and found it to be very good efficient and quality of food was average My only negative point is that it is at least one hours walk into downtown Chicago so most people will need to use a taxi, Although the walk across the Lakeside promenade was beautiful and certainly worth doing at least on one occasion The area around the hotel felt safe and there are also some great areas to explore local to the hotel

This hotel is a great value and an enjoyable stay The front desk staff were incredibly friendly and helpful The room was clean as well as the lobby

I stayed at this hotel between May 15-20, 2022 The hotel is in a great location near major highways, restaurants, bars, comedy shows, etc Upon arrival the valet was super friendly and explained where check-in was (7 floor)

There I was greeted by Devin (I’m terrible with names sorry if I’m wrong) He was fabulous in every way! He really went out of his way to make us feel welcomed Seemed like he slept at the hotel, no matter the time it was, he was there smiling and happy I loved the Kennedy rooftop bar I swear it has the best view of the city Nicole is by far the best! She was amazing! Always friendly and really cared about our stay Front desk, Kennedy rooftop team, brunch team, valet and housekeeping were amazing I only wish the Kennedy rooftop was open later It is such a great place to unwind after a long work day Thank you all for making my business trip feel like I was surrounded by family!

I liked this hotel Friendly staff and very clean updated rooms It’s pricey for being basic

I would like more clarity at check out on which card we are being charged I was traveling for works and someone two reservations got charged to me Given that they must do this often, would be nice for it to be clarified when charged This has now happened twice at different locations And making reservations is a PIA if you’re booking as part of an event and need to speak to a live person for an accommodation

Don’t forget to use ʜoᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏᴄᴏm when booking a stay This web site will compare hundreds of booking websites and normally will have rates much cheaper compared to others! Thank me later! This resort is one of the highest rated in the area

I’ve been coming here for years If you decide to stay here you for sure won’t regret itLocation, location, location! Spacious room for a downtown hotel A great river view if you room is north facing The only downside while I was staying was occasional loud noise from emergency vehicles in the middle of the night

David Lopez

As an elite member, I stay at a lot of their nice hotels This one has great river views, but at high prices (which is fine) but their service is awful

Not once did someone check in to see how our stay was, not once could I get anyones attention for some local area help, and valet … Oh boy… they don’t take bags out or help put in car (if needed) they were to busy on their phones…The city was phenomenal and I’ll always come back, but not staying here again… Again, best thing about hotel is view…

Fog Dog

Grand classic hotel Great location about 200 yards from Damen “L” station and if you are taking the train from down town there is an exit at the West end of the platform that is less than 50 feet from the entrance to the Robey This hotel is a converted office building built circa 1930s

It is at the intersection of 3 roads so it is a triangular shaped building so the rooms are odd shapes If you can get a room on an upper floor facing the city the views are spectacular Try the roof top bar too Great 360 degree view from the Roof Top bar The staff is friendly and helpful Great central location to several restaurants, bars, and shopping Although we did not use them, they have venues for weddings and birthdays which both occurred during our stay We did not try their restaurants either but they do have dinning options which seemed very popular

Stacey Yonce

This hotel is in a vintage building that has been restored nicely, while maintaining its character Rooms are comfortable, with minimalist decor, and have good amenities (soda, coffee, bottled water and 312 beer) Note that there is a $25/day amenities fee

We paid extra for a city view room and thought it was totally worth it – the view of the city was wonderful Alternatively, go to the Up Room, which is a great cocktail bar on the top floor and which also has amazing view of the city We enjoyed spending time there, as well as The Lounge on the 2nd floor, which has a casual vibe and sports on TV Service was good but understatedThis hotel is in a perfect location It is steps away from the blue line, Starbucks and Walgreens Wonderful restaurants and cute shops are within a 5-10 minute walk (We love Club Lucky, The Bongo Room and Myopic Books) I cannot think of a reason why we’d stay anywhere else the next time we visit Chicago for a fun weekend,

Russ Abstein

One of the most unique Marruotts I’ve ever stayed in Rooms are small but utilitarian in nature Old school feel with modern amenities

Very good amd friendly service up front The highlight of the place is an upstairs rooftop bar with a great view of downtown The service there was top notch not to mention a real fun group of bartenders just happy to be there Very clean and well maintained property

WOW! The location of the hotel is unbelievable! We had a direct view of the “bean” from our room, it was so beautiful! Although the rooms are small, they’re so unique It doesn’t feel like a Hyatt property, it’s just something so unique! All the staff was wonderful, the rooftop bar was awesome and the city lights from there were beautiful!! We were on our honeymoon during this stay, and the staff left us a little something to congratulate us I’d absolutely stay here again!!

Adam Ott

While I have certainly stayed at more luxurious and fancier properties, This is my favorite hotel I have ever stayed in, without question The variety of food and beverage options is like no where else I have ever stayed Each and every restaurant and bar on the property is stunning

Cindy’s, Cherry Circle Room, Milk Room, Game Room Every one of them are on point, and serve some of the best food and drinks I’ve had in the city! The lobby is probably one of the coolest and most historic places that I’ve had the pleasure of sitting in, and makes one feel like they’ve time-travelled back to a Chicago of the early 1900’sAs far as the rooms go, I’ve stayed in a suite and a regular room, and I would have to recommend spending the money to upgrade to a suite or founders room for better views and ambiance The staff at the hotel did a great job of making us feel welcome, and really did their best to provide a level of service that you don’t find at many hotels In particular, David was amazing, and treated us all like royalty I’ve never met anyone more pleasant at any hotel This guy is a rockstar! Our trip to Chicago was completely amazing, in large part due to the choice of staying at this property I can’t think of a more fun and exciting place to stay in the city The Athletic Association will be my very first choice from now on, whenever I am in town

Helen Wheels

Beautiful hotel! Rooms are updated with modern amenities Fresh and well appointed We were there for my daughter’s wedding and I skipped taking photos of the room, but it was amazing

We had a view of the Bean from our windowRobes, nice toiletries Room service was lightening fast on that morning coffeeFun game area Bocce ball etc Lots of great things in walking distance

Great hotel! Very nice and clean rooms just a bit small Our king bed room with river view had no dresser or small table Had a desk

The bathroom is very nice was a shower with amazing water pressure The reason for 3 stars is simply because was a much smaller room than other places I’ve stayed and also the bed was not comfortable We both woke up with either a sore back or neck The bed is too soft A more medium or firm mattered is best for back The pillows were probably the worst part of the entire stay (not a huge deal) we’re just way too squishy and soft no support at all The staff was all amazing the older gentleman with the UK style fur hat upfront outside is amazing and gives the hotel a very welcoming touch The location is amazing you’re right on Michigan ave by the beautiful river The elevators are slow to wait on

John Ossawy

Great hotel in a great location Right across the road from the Chicago River walk and walking distance to Michigan Avenue and magnificent mile! My room was on the 10th floor (#1010) and had an amazing view of the Chicago River and downtown, pics on this post where taken from the room! Housekeeping was very good and made up the room daily with fresh towels and linen The room itself was also big and spacious and had a great walk in shower

Hotel staff were always courteous Rooftop bar was fully booked out during my stay You can walk up without a reservation, but would struggle to get a space to enjoy the view!I’ve marked the hotel down one 1star as I’d emailed them 3 times weeks leading up to my stay with a request and never received a reply Also there was no complimentary water with the room and coffee making wasn’t replenished

Monica Ricardez

The hotel is wonderfully located, close to everything and the high floors have fantastic views of the river or lake The standard rooms are small, but the layouts are convenient They are a bit dark at night because the lamps are dim, but there are reading lights bedside for convenience

The carpet in my room had a large stain, but overall, the rooms looked and smelled clean They have all the basics like a small fridge, coffee and tea, water for purchase, in room safe, a bathrobe, slippers and toiletries The beds are also very comfortable and smelled freshThe hotel has a small restaurant on the first floor, the very popular rooftop bar and room service, but it closes before 11PM Though I booked through Expedia, I was able to use digital keys through my Hilton Honors app, which I prefer over the conventional keys However, in this hotel you need to use keys to use the elevators, but you can still use the app to communicate with hotel staff and perform self-checkoutValet parking was not the best experience because it is always busy with people going to the roof bar and the wait can be very long One time we waited almost 20 minutes for the car, and another the attendants did not have the car ready because they had not read the text announcing we were coming Another negative was guest services Not very friendly, or at least not the person I dealt with when I requested to add an extra night to one of my rooms Not only was she very short in her replies but the price that she gave me was $244 over the cost of booking the same room from the Hilton Honors app; the only reason I didn’t use the app to book another room was because my daughter was not feeling well, and I didn’t want to have to move rooms that day

Excellent staff- kind, welcoming and friendly! I was in town for my birthday and they had a bottle of wine waiting for me in my room to help me start off my trip While enjoying the complimentary Happy Hour drinks, they offered great dining spot recommendations- ended up dining at one recommendation that evening and had a great dinner! The hotel room was clean and perfectly safe I was alone this first night so that was important to me

I requested a river view and am glad I did! I could sit up on the cushioned nook and look out towards the river and take in the awesome sights!

Mason Maloof

One of the best hotel experiences I have had Even before we arrived, Mark, the concierge, was extremely helpful and responsive in booking us a tour and providing recommendations The moment our cab pulled up to the hotel, we were greeted by the very friendly door guy and were seamlessly checked into our room

The hallways were clean and smelled fresh Every staff member was great I would highly recommend staying here

Aaron Weidenbaum (Aaron)

The Kimpton Monaco in Chicago exceeded my expectations unbelievably The front desk staff was super kind, friendly, accommodating and answered my questions with a smile The restaurant Fisk and Co

had outstanding breakfast and dinner appetizers The room was spacious and clean and had the coolest little niche to sit and people watch along the window I’ve stayed at several hotels in Chicago, some with even higher star ratings or google ratings online The experience and service at Hotel Monaco surpassed any of those and I am definitely going to stay here again Great job!!

My entire family was extremely frustrated and disappointed by Level Chicago We were in Chicago to move our son into a nearby apartment Level was very close by and looked beautiful – so it seemed like a great pick

It was expensive, but we decided the amenities and proximity was worth it I was frustrated before I even arrived* I had called ahead about parking as we were traveling with 2 pick up trucks There was clearly a miscommunication, as I thought parking was included Once we were assigned a spot, it was too tight for the vehicle we described to the desk staff (as they asked for make, model, license plate before assigning it) We had to call from the lot to get it changed They then assigned us a double spot (which we could have potentially parked both vehicles in, but they didn’t tell us until after we paid to park the second vehicle in another, less expensive, lot (tip – at 1225 Old Town Apartments – BUT this was EXTREMELY tight for a pick up truck))* We had 3 residents staying in the room but they would not provide 3 keys – you had to list the names of others and the staff would let them into the elevator area to come up* Even on a weekday and mid-day, there are too few elevators for the residents and people staying in the hotel – so with COVID restrictions lifted – 8 people would cram into an elevator* The thermostats in the apartment did not work accurately – we set both the bedroom and the main area to 70 degrees In the morning, the main area was set to 48 degrees and the bedroom to 74 even though we had not touched the thermostats* The TVs in each room used different HDMI inputs in each room and did not have instructions Most of the remote buttons didn’t actually do anything so we had to call for assistance just to watch television The man who came to fix them said the batteries must be bad, but then did not replace them* The bathtub/shower was extremely slippery while showering and has no hand rails* We booked a two bedroom suite (with one king bed) and had only 2 towels We asked for more, but they did not deliver them* The floor tiles in the apartment were not completely in place and there were gaps in them* The door to the apartment had a very loud creak when closing – which we fixed ourselves* The staff were a bit cool – not necessarily impolite, but certainly not warm and accommodating* The website neglected to mention that they charge you a $200 deposit when you check in for incidentals The staff acted as if I was ignorant not to expect this, but most rentals and hotels just take a card as security if there is an issue – they do not actually charge the money and have you wait 5 business days for it to be refunded after your stay* There are limits to how many people you can have in the apartment at one time (which was 8, if you were wondering)

My family arrived at the hotel, and their credit card was denied because the total amount was above the max limit They called me and I offered the hotel to pay with my Amex card They refused THOUGH THEY JUST CHARGED THE DEPOSIT ON THE VERY SAME CARD

I offered to wire the money, to do a video call so I could prove my ID, pay via E-transfer, etc The only answer was no, no, no My niece who stood at the front desk heard other international travelers facing the same issue The people at the front desk were unhelpful, disrespectful, and useless Instead of trying to find a solution, they stood by their policy, and could not care less about the situation of their clients If you travel internationally, avoid this hotel at all costs

Great location, beautiful space The only thing lacking was the logistical side of being a hotel I stayed for 6 nights, and had no way to have trash removed during those six nights

There was no housekeeping, and though there was a trash shoot on my floor, I had no access to use it Only one roll of toilet paper also meant that I had to go out and buy my own for “Hotels + Furnished Suites” the hotel part doesn’t seem very fitting In unit washer and dryer, HUGE bathtub, two TV’s, efficient kitchen with gas stove All awesome perks

We stayed here for 2 nights in Room 2c It was the cheapest place in the area and with really good reviews like 5 starts almost, but I have to say

it was dirty and in bad shape The bed was pretty comfortable, our private bathroom was clean but the room was literally dirty The large area rug looked like it had not been vacuumed in a very long time, the very creaky wood floor was filthy, the beautiful woodwork along with all surfaces were dusty, the robes where discusting Within walking distance of a lot of nice shops, restaurants, Lake Shore Dr, etc If you don’t mind the uncleanliness, it is a great location which seemed to be safeThe inn-keeper was a nice guy, he gives a lot of advice, the places beautiful but they need to take more care

We stayed here two nights while our apartment in Chicago was being painted It was very affordable, and they really are pet-friendly! (Nearby AirBnBs allowing cats were 2-4x the price, while hotels in the area allowing it were

scary-looking This was a rare find)We found it to be very cozy and comfotable, and peacefully quiet at night It is an old building with some creaks and groans, but that was part of the charm for us The property has awesome historic vibes — you feel like you’re staying in a 1920s rooming house! Bathrooms were private, located across the hall, with robes provided for your convenienceThe free parking was a huge perk and we definitely enjoyed having some cocktails downstairs at the speakeasy as part of our visit!

DO NOT BOOK A ROOM HERE!!! I booked a room for two nights at Old Chicago Inn in December When I arrived, I discovered there is no onsite reception and that you have to call ahead to arrange to check-in I called and left voicemails at the number with the hotel many times over the next few days and was never able to reach anyone

I originally booked through Hotwire and paid upfront, through so far I have not been able to get a refund even though I was never able to check in or reach anyone at the hotel and Hotwire also has not been able to reach anyone there Pretty messed up and VERY EXPENSIVE since I had to book another hotel for the weekend at the last minute

NOYB BYON

Our king suite was not ready when we arrived so they placed us in an “upgraded” suite that they recently remodeled At first we were so impressed until we left the room to head to lunch and an employee saw us and we hesitated because of his demeanor and My husband held back and went back to our room only to find him in our room A wedding gift had been torn open but he was placing pillows that had been placed on the window sill he had brought to the room

Why were they not placed on the bed to begin with? We carried this gift across the country with no damage so I knew it well We were glad my husband went back The second thing was the new furniture was so stiff it was uncomfortable to even sit on Pretty but not practical The bed as well was extremely uncomfortable Not the usual Four Season comfort Then in the morning we went to shower and much to our surprise the valve to turn on the shower was cemented in concrete and would not turn on! You could hear the grind of the grout trying to break through So we showered in the small shower in the living area and it too had issues that if you showered for more than 2 minutes, it overflowed over the threshold so we had to quickly get clean? Wow Our room cost $1400 for that? I mentioned the issues to the check out clerk and his comment was a non expression of “Oh we will have to take a look at that” Really? Then I got a massage and the lame therapist suggested I take marijuana for my pain When I didn’t like that comment she suggested I use injections of fetal stem cells for healing I didn’t know they had doctors for massage therapy! I spent $200 for that advice and was so insulted and came out more sore than I went in The only highlight of this hotel was the chef to the restaurant which is newly designed The food was outstanding We will not be returning to this hotel It is not the quality it use to be Look elsewhere for less and most likely better comfort

Beautiful renovation of the lobby and main restaurant and bar Breakfast is excellent, great staff and all the food on multiple days was well prepared Staff members are attentive and caring

The room we stayed in was a lake view suite and needed updating The furniture was old and the bathroom extremely outdated likely dating from the hotels opening I do wish the renovations had carried over into the rooms as well

Our recent stay was fantastic, as expected From the familiar faces at the valet, to checking in, and within the dining area, it was like seeing old friends The concierge team, led by Kristen, treated with utmost hospitality

Look forward to visiting again As a premier hotel, expectations are always high, and we are never disappointed 🙂

Fabulous hotel! I stayed here last summer and had the absolute best experience From walking into the hotel for the first time all the way until my last day, the staff were on point and able to take care of my needs at all times The room was clean and the bathroom was spacious! We stayed in the Deluxe King Room and there was more than enough space

The room was also stocked with the best drinks a snacks The hotel also has the only rooftop pool in the area, which has its own bar and snacks to order The hotel is located in a convenient area of the Magnificent Mile and is in walking distance to many great restaurants and shops!

Truly a 5 star hotel experience Allison was able to assist us at check and make the process smooth All the hotel staff was very professional

There is no lack in amenities, and the rooms feel spacious as well as luxurious The bathrooms were especially nice; having both a nice tub and rainfall shower head Location was great since it was close to shopping and good food options Would have be nice to have a few more free weights in the gym, but it was still adequate Would definitely stay here again

Tanya

Came here to feel pampered and that’s exactly how I left It was my first time staying in Gold Coast and I LOVED staying here! Cameron at front desk was so welcoming, helpful and accommodating — thank you for making check-in a breeze! Can’t beat the location The beach is a short walk away

Amazing restaurants across the street Great places to shop all around Booked the Grand Lake View King and the view was insane! Ordered in-room dining from Somerset and the food was delicious and the perfect portion for me Had the bubbles add-on which was a great treat A true 5-star experience Can’t wait to be back here when I visit Chicago next 🙂

The view is decent, and the floor to ceiling windows made the room feel very spacious We loved the larger tub overlooking the city, and the view at night (from a corner room) was wonderful The location was perfect for us since its location is within walking distance of most of the city’s main attractions

Our only complaint was the filthy carpet and the front desk service We had to ask multiple times for bathroom towels, and we weren’t able to make it to our own own hotel’s rooftop to see the view We tried calling, and we were hung up on multiple times The service definitely could use some improvement!

Awesome hotel! Great location, very friendly staff, nice/clean rooms The Roof bar is popular and the lobby will have a bit of a nightclub feel on the nights it’s open but as a hotel guest they ensure your access to the elevator/room which I thought was pretty clever Try to at least get up there once for a drink because it’s a fun spot

I didn’t find the bed super comfortable but my back means I’m a bit picky on that Breakfast at their restaurant was good with no line

Dennis Anderson

The room was beautiful The parking service wasn’t as obvious as you’d hope it would be Once that was done everything was great

Food was good, drinks were very pricey An old bottle of wine was left in the room which makes me wonder what else could have been be missedI’d go again Everything was lovely

Great hotel, clean, friendly, and helpful staff Excellent location for several sightseeing activities Close to a water taxi to go to the Navy Pier

Excellent breakfast buffet, but don’t wait until 30 minutes before it closes Mass amount of folks come down at that time We came an hour in and it was easier to find a seat Lines weren’t as long We had several hours before our train departed and they secured our bags until we were ready Overall, great place to stay at a reasonable cost that’s close to several tourist destinations Definitely would stay here again

On our first day, a little mouse greeted us in the breakfast room!! But believe me, that wasn’t the worst part Since windows can’t be opened in the building, apparently they are requested by law to keep vents pumping air into the rooms, and they can’t be turned off, not even during the night This made us absolutely miserable: the vent in our room is noisy, and it pumps VERY cold air and creates an current at the height of the head and upper chest in the beds (which can’t be moved, by the way)

We had to request blankets and sleep covering our heads with them Since we had to compensate increasing the thermostat setting, we were roasting inside the blankets, but if we exposed our heads we would freeze Two of us ended up with a cold (always a funny experience during a pandemic) I have slept in cheap motels and youth hostels with shared rooms and never had an experience as awful as this one Other highlights from this “wonderful” place: breakfast was really bad (the patties were hard, almost inedible) Also, they are stingy with the bath gels and lotions, they left one small tube of each for 3 people in the room and looked bad at us when we requested more This hotel is a shame, ridiculously expensive and seedy for what they give

Bonniejean Alford (The Identity Guru)

Everything was great except in the rooms the toilet has a lip around it which digs into the back and there’s a distinguishable separation between the carpeting and the linoleum which, if you’re not paying attention and step on it, hurts your foot The staff was absolutely amazing and accommodated any needs we had, even bringing a different seat into the meeting room so I could be comfortableHowever, breakfast was not great nor was the woman serving the eggs who any eggs who barely gave any food and didn’t want to assist somebody who clearly had mobility issues and couldn’t just wait in line again

Another staffer made up for it by getting me some additional juice do I didn’t have to walk across the room again

With so many fine hotels in town it is surprising that this is the first time we have stayed here, but it won’t be the last Check in and check out went without a hitch The rooms were beautifully appointed and super clean

The views were terrific The bed was very comfy The woman who appeared for turn down service in the afternoon understood our liking for chocolate

Michael Banks

I always love Ritz-Carlton properties It’s a consistent experience at all of them and you definitely know that you will receive excellent service ALL of them are on the pricier side, and they make it as easy as possible to charge everything to your room

Overall, if you want excellent service and can afford it a definite recommendation from meThis one is located in the heart of downtown and walking distance to most downtown attractions
