A nice, stripped-down hotel in walking distance of the Mall This is a micro-hotel so the rooms are small and simple, but well laid out and have everything you need conveniently-located within the tiny room Bonus points for room controls with option of remote control! The beds are very comfortable

And the best feature: helpful staff who go out of their way to make you feel at home! Now for some less-than ideal things to be aware of: The toilet amenities are really nice, but there are no extras like Q-tips or cotton balls (not really a big deal) The biggest issue is there is no valet – which they DO let you know in advance via e-mail You can self-park at a nearby garage, but it is deserted on lower levels and if you are arriving late it can be a creepy place to wander around alone at night And if you don’t arrange parking in advance the fees are super-high Based on their signage I thought I would be paying $27/day – but no, it was $27 day + $27 overnight = $54 Higher than many high-end hotels So be warned and definitely lock in the preferred rate via the hotel app ahead of time! All in all a nice option in downtown DC!

Small hotel space, but definitely encourages you to get out into the city and explore Unfortunately, parking is always full being in the city The front desk staff on nights is amazing

So generous and knowledgeable about the city Every recommendation that was given was on point to no disappointment Would definitely stay here again, but only if I was on a solo trip due the small room size

Samantha Hetterscheidt

Even with the rooms being as small as they were, it didn’t make the stay not enjoyable For the size, it was laid out rather well and even gave space to put your luggage and shoes under the bed and out of the way I wished the beds had been slightly larger, but it was still a rather nice room

Also, being able to control the lights and temperature of the room after getting in bed after a long day was a nice little plusThe staff were all very welcoming and answered any questions to the best of their ability I don’t think I’ve ever encountered staff as customer friendly as this one It’s definitely a pleasant experience in a great location

Nice and clean rooms with room service on both days of our stay, which was pleasantly surprising You don’t get that unless you ask these days Friendly staff that tended to all our requests

Were upgraded to a suite for one of the rooms on our reservation Kitchen was super helpful as we are traveling with a 10 month old infant I ordered multiple food and grocery deliveries to be left at the reception and never had an issue Good job hotel management! You’re doing a much better job than some others in the same class out there

Carrie K

Honestly, I’d I could give more than 5 stars I would Everyone was incredibly kind and made us feel like we were coming home The breakfast was nice, but again the wonderful staff helped put it over the top! The valet was helpful and convenient

They let us pack our car and keep it garaged after our checkout so we could finish out our day again The rooms were cozy and large I felt like I got much more than what we paid for Our family will definitely be staying here again!

Kristina. Lumapas

Overall everything was great from check-in to checkout Room was clean, bathroom felt luxurious and kitchen was fully equipped The only downside was the bed size

We booked a room with king bed and what we got was a queen We reported this to front desk and they insisted that it was their king size bed I couldn’t be wrong with the size since we have a regular king bed at home, not even a California king bed, and theirs was just too small, I’m very sure it was a queen If you’ll get assigned to room 1010, don’t expect a king bed, it’s just too small My husband slept on the couch since me, our preschooler and him couldn’t fit

I stayed four days at the Darcy at Logan Circle The photos on the official website matched my room exactly and I was surprised at how large the standard room with city view was I am extremely happy with my stay

The staff at the front desk are so wonderful, polite and attentive, I felt so special every time I entered Even the door attendants are superb They all had wonderful attitudes The bathroom is a tad small but it’s aesthetically pleasing The bed was very comfortable and clean, I enjoyed my sleep here very much They only issue I had was housekeeping, which is why I only gave 4 stars You must request housekeeping which is fine but they almost never came, even after calling 3 times, and when they did it was late in the evening after I had called again When guest check into a hotel this is their chance to be taken care of and this is where the Darcy fell short I found myself cleaning up, making my own bed, and gathering trash, also calling for fresh towels and soap which weren’t delivered because housekeeping didn’t come This was honestly the only issue Other than that I enjoyed my stay and would like to return in the future because I frequent DC and it is within walking distance of all the attractions I even walked to capital hill one day with no issue and it was so fun The walk score is definitely a 10, as well as the atmosphere and staff They also have complimentary drinks for half and hour on certain days which is such a nice touch The housekeeping service is the only issue The housekeepers are so nice and thorough but it’s simply getting them to come that’s the issue Other than that this hotel would get 5 stars I hope that if return that they have this sorted out!Lastly, definitely order room service, you will not regret it I’m leaving a separate review for Gerrad Street Kitchen, which blew my socks off!

Ashleigh Caldwell

First off, the staff here is wonderful Very friendly staff and they made sure that guests were well taken care of The ambiance of the hotel was lovely

Even the restaurant on site was great The food and the staff were wonderful Giving 4 stars because the bathroom in my room was smaller than I would have liked Overall I would definitely visit again

Meredith Bird

The rooms and bathrooms are quite small, but the front desk was pleasant when we checked in and the decor was nice The walls are very thin, we could hear the guests next to us having a party until about 1am (we stayed up late too so we didn’t bother complaining to the front desk) There was no menu for the restaurant in my room, and no breakdown of the costs involved with ordering room service, so be sure you confirm that before you pay twice the price of the food in fees, taxes, and more fees

Awesome Would definitely stay here again The room was very swanky and well taken care of

The guys at the front desk were great, as well as housekeeping and every one else behind the scenes Wanna give a shout out to Miles who works at the front desk, he was very charming and efficient, you could tell he took pride in his work We arrived maybe 30 minutes before check in and they were able to get us in our room in a timely manner The hotel was close to everything, we walked everywhere we wanted to go When we visit another major city AKA is present in we will definitely be staying with them Thank you

Donna Powell

My husband and I stayed at the AKA White House for more than three months We enjoyed our stay very much The staff were welcoming, courteous and helpful

Housekeeping kept our room exceptionally clean and the maintenance team were responsive when we had an issue We appreciated the personal touch when Ania the Sales Manager greeted us upon our arrival Ania went above and beyond when she provided us with a foam topper for our bed to help with my sore back The entire AKA team helped to make our stay in Washington, DC a memorable experience We will definitely look to AKA White House should we return to the area

John Brimmer

It was in an excellent location wiyy try h every thing in walking distance Miles provided excellent customer service from when we checked in to checkout He was very professional and courteous and always greeted us with a smile

The room was very spacious and felt like home The only negative comment I have was with the shower/tub being high to step over which made it difficult getting into

The staff is really, really nice!! Easy to get to by public transit— you can call their shuttle to get you from the metro, but it only runs on weekends right now bc of the pandemic It’s about a mile walk in an easy flat area if you don’t have too much luggage or it’s a nice day Beds are super comfy and the showers are great

The toiletries provided are lightly scented and smell great! The rooms are kind of dark at night which I don’t really like, but they are otherwise great Nice and clean The light switches are all electronic buttons which might take you a few minutes to work out but once you get the hang of it it’s kinda nifty The pool and gym are solid and the conference amenities are very attractive as well I haven’t been to the spa myself but a friend got her nails done there and had a great experience The bar is wonderful, though the beer selection is pretty smallThey make a great bloody mary!

Jenny Terry

I loved my stay here! Beautiful hotel with an amazing view Conveniently located just steps from the University of Maryland The staff was nice, the room was immaculate, and the bed was so comfortable

If you are planning a trip to DC this is a great option just outside the district but is located near the metro line I really enjoyed my stay here and hope to visit again

Janna Chan

I have stayed at the University of Maryland Hotel several times over the past few yearsThe rates are good and the service is excellent The staff is very friendly

I wish that some of the rooms had bath tubs instead of just showers but that’s a minor issueThe two restaurants right next to the premises, a pizza place and a bagel place, are excellent and reasonably pricedObviously this location makes sense if you’re doing something at the University of Maryland However, it’s a very clean and professional outfit for anyone staying in the DC area in general

Treated my sister and her husband to a stay at the Hay-Adams & it’s one of the very few times I can say that it was absolutely worth every cent Our rooms were impeccable, every member of the staff we encountered was genuinely caring, & every meal we ate was exceptional Everything exceeded my expectations

I’ve never experienced anything like it; they must go out of their way to hire the best of the best & treat them well because nothing fell short of absolute excellenceI don’t think I could ever stay anywhere else in the city It made our time in DC magical

Everything was very clean The beds were comfy, and you were about a block or two from just about everything Everyone was very friendly and nice

I enjoyed watching the fireworks from the balcony I felt very secure in the building, and safe I was a little confused at first with how to enter the code to the main door I figured it out, but maybe a small informational guide would be nice I loved my stay here, and I would totally come back here the next time that I am in DC There was a little garden in the alley way behind the hostel that was quite pretty to view as well

Lance Russo

Let me start by saying I’ve stayed here in the past in my travels and loved it I’m also not aware if owner knows how his guests gets lied to by staff They canceled my reservations and charged my card ( they still have gave my money back

) All because they thought I was homeless I was embarrassed I live in Jersey and have a home there I love the artistic vibe here in DC and loving community I even joined a local non profit group there temperance alley because the community is wonderful For when I visit Just cause a man travels and has mental disorders like myself And chooses to explore all lives beauty Does not make him homeless They hurt my feeling so bad And it’s a shame cause I’m sure they didn’t realize just cause I’m different does not give them the right to discriminate The hostel is gorgeous but mistakes happen Besides calling me homeless and hurting my feeling so bad I cried The place is awesome I’m still waiting for owner to call me And my refund but the money isn’t the issue it’s my feelings that are the issue So if your different in any way or beat to your own drum or if your happy being you Do t go here they are not kind My name is Lance Russo I’m not happy about the discrimination and absurd comments made by staff The owner still has not called

Clarissa G

Stayed one night with a friend in the private two-bed room Check in was easy, room had everything we needed I do wish the bathroom was a little better enclosed (it had a glass wall all around but the glass was only frosted beginning partially up)

But the fact that they managed to fit so many amenities into the space so efficiently was very impressive Room was very clean Definitely would recommend to travelers on a budget Would visit again

Worst hostel I’ve stayed in so far Whole place smells like sweat because of the “no shoes” rule which is clearly only there so they can save money on cleaning Rooms are clean and the beds are fine, but our room had a neon red bright exit sign that couldn’t be turned off and lit up the room at night

Also, one bathroom for the whole floor, really? Would’ve rather spent a little extra and got a hotel roomThe hostel doesn’t exactly encourage socializing either All the people we met were great, but the only nice common area (rooftop) closes way too early and the rest of the common areas are sweltering hot due to the lack of AC Also, no drinking after 10pm apparently Can’t even enjoy a beer in the heatThe only positive is the location, which really is good Walking distance to most of the good places in DC and right next to a grocery store Honestly the location is the only reaons this review has two stars and not oneOverall, I expected more from a hostel in the nation’s capital

Aidan Garrity

The location and staff are excellent The included breakfast is nice, even if it’s just pancakes Rooftop patio area great for relaxing and chatting

The hostel has a good social atmosphere Parking is a bit pricey since it’s downtown, but most people visiting this hostel are from overseas so it doesn’t matter as much Would stay here again when visiting DC

Nicholas Daniel

Great stay for my first time at a hostel The staff are very friendly and helpful, and willing to give recommendations for food in the area The free pancakes every morning were great

All the facilities were kept clean The hostel is well located near many attractions The only real complaint was that the wifi was slow but with 20+ people there that is to be expected

Stayed here for 2 nights Check-in experience was wonderful as Robert was friendly, welcoming, informative and professional But the check-out experience was Dana was the complete opposite

Felt as if she shouldn’t be in the hospitality trade as she was the complete opposite of what hospitality and service should represent Even prior to checking out, when we walked into the hotel during our stay and said “hello” she didn’t respond nor smile The experiences we remember when we leave is how people make us feel during our stay and due to her, we will not stay there againWe had 2 rooms and both had cleanliness issues The hotel surely needs some upgrading as it seems agedThe hotel is conveniently located and the room had complimentary water, a mini fridge and a microwave The bathroom amenities also included a mouthwashA huge thanks to Robert for being pleasant and courteous Your professionalism and courtesy was appreciated by everyone in our groupThere are quite a few other hotels around this area We will surely stay at one of those next time we visit as our overall experience was below average

K –

Convenient location and friendly staff However, our rooms were given away when we arrived Then, we were given room keys for an already occupied room (apologies to the people we woke up)

The room we finally got into was musty and had several power outlets nonfunctional I expect better for over $200 per night Ironing board and two luggage stands were handy Bath&Body Works amenities were nice I appreciate that room service only comes upon request

Lisha Fairbairn

Could tell it was recently renovated and that some things had been rushed Beds were clean and rooms were fairly clean as well Staff were all very friendly and helpful! The pool area on the roof was beautiful, got some amazing sunset pictures from up there! My only complaint was that the parking garage was very poorly laid out

It had super tight corners, a single lane, and very narrow parking spots We drove a minivan and almost got stuck in the ramp because we couldn’t make a turn When we did park, the parking spot was the exact size of the vehicle leaving almost no room to open doors Very nerve wracking $47/night seemed like a lot for such a terrible rampBesides the ramp, we had a great experience and would definitely stay here again (just maybe with a different car or no car at all 😂)

Hotel was in a good location with wonderful service Main entrance doors locked at night the lot across the street only charged $30 for overnight parking instead of the $50 the hotel charges

Poor wifi however, and the shower door kept sliding open while in the shower Also, even though we noted that 4 will be staying, we were given a room for 2: toiletries, towels, no sheets for the sleeper couch, silverware and plates and cups… they do have good service though and although it took a few calls, everyone was very friendly and helpful

I recently stayed at the Washington Hilton for a work conference and my experience was greatThe room was clean and comfortable The furniture had some wear as is expected with time but nothing that impacted the comfort or functionality of the room

My room faced the courtyard and one night there was an even held there with music playing but the music off my 10PM at the latest do it didn’t interfere with my rest at all When I arrived, I found that my digital key wasn’t working and the front desk staff member was extremely apologetic and provided me with a standard key card which worked flawlessly for my entire stayHallways are dark but not drab, that’s just the design Elevators are small in size but they move very quickly so I never had to wait long even if I skipped the first optionEveryone on staff was polite, friendly and professional, from the front desk staff to the concierge to the bartenders to the housekeeping staff to the event staff When I checked in I requested extra towels be sent to the room and when I got to the room, before I could even put my suitcase down, housekeeping was at my door and it was followed up by a call later that evening to ensure I had received them I also used the Hilton app several times to chat with the front desk and they always answered my questions quickly and accurately

It is clean, inviting, and obviously very well managed I interacted with a lot of staff and they all seemed to take real pride in the hotel and an interest in the guests They have a wonderful outdoor space that has plenty of room for private conversations and lazy reading The lobby is lively and inviting My room was so clean that I came home mad that I’m not as good at spotting dust as Esperanza and Sophia Plus, they both loved the puppy and were great fun to chat with I will never stay anywhere in DC except this property Well worth the very fair price Thank you all for making our vacation so nice

I found the location too far from any of the main sites Way too far for me I also did not feel safe in the area where it is located

There are homeless tents very close by Some of the homeless were aggressive in approaching me I did not feel safe to leave the hotel after dark which affected my stay I will not stay there againThe hotel staff and restaurant/bar staff were very nice and helpful

There are so many great things about this hotel! For one, the location of the hotel is very convenient if you are visiting DC as a tourist! White House, Washington Monument, etc is less than half an hour away! Hotel is beautiful and well maintained

I would have given 5 stars, but I didn’t have the best experience customer service wise Checking in was smooth, but when asking questions regarding accommodations or correcting a charge issue my family and I were met with an attitude I recommend the hotel to others, but prepare to deal with that energy

Furnished well and nice bed Shower was average Room was clean and seemed remodeled within last 5 years

We had two rooms both missing different things They have 2 elevators that requires a key card to operate (no signs about needing a key card though), but one elevator is reserved for staff So if the “staff” elevator shows up first, after much frustration to figure it out, press the down button and hope the other elevator arrives before the “staff” one resets Funny thing was outside of the ground floor, any elevator would take you down Ridiculous I have never seen that before Also we could not take the steps, the doors to each floor is locked I could maybe understand that for security, but seems like a major safety hazard if there is a fire and the ground floor is blocked Also room was not ready until after 5pm on check-in

The hotel itself is new and looks nice, and it’s in a fantastic location right by Union Market, but there were a few issues The service from the employees felt like from an old/rundown hotel, not a nice new one The person working the front desk when we checked in was wearing sweats, which just seemed really out of place

The website said parking was an additional $25 per night, but when we checked in we were told it’s $35/night Our room reeked of weed when we walked in There’s a lot of construction around, which didn’t bother us, but might be a problem for some people The breakfast was decent and the lobby stays stocked with coffee, tea, and citrus infused water

I stayed here for just one night on a business trip and had a lovely experience Beautiful room and location In the heart of the city close to many food options

Staff were friendly, warm, and welcoming I cannot comment on pricing as my room was paid for but it was an excellent stay Loved my room and felt so relaxed! Would love to come back! Special thank you to Femi, a receptionist who was very accommodating at check in and check out

The hotel lobby was clean, the staff were nice, and the location was good Not super impressed for the price No amenities really

I had to request a fridge in my room so to accommodate that they put me in a handicap room I’m six feet tall and everything was super low so it wasn’t ideal The heated floors in the bathroom didn’t work The valet took a little too long so I tried not to use my car The gym and the rooms are pretty small I don’t think this is a desirable hotel but it’s nice

Hotel was great and staff was friendly John was quick to greet us for the valet We left for dinner and came back to a tidy room

We stopped into the bar (the Doyle) stayed for one drink, service was very slow but they were busy and we were content and atmosphere was nice Drink was excellent Hotel claimed to have 24hr room service We called a little before midnight for a bottle of Prosecco (listed on their room service menu) only to be told they don’t do that and to call the Doyle (their bar that was closing in 2 minutes, didn’t get through) Overall fine experience but disappointed in advertised room service When paying for amenities, I like to get what I paid for

Terrific location, near many many restaurants, 3 miles from the Mall, rooms fairly good size with spacious bathroomWish the bathroom fan wasn’t connected to the light switch as I would have liked a night light without fan noiseBed was fabulous with squishy pillows and soft, soft sheets and comforter

Breakfast was a terrific buffet… $18 Best dining room I’ve seen attached to a hotelShout out to sweet Dolores at the desk who greeted returning guests with a cheery, ‘welcome back!’

I recently stayed at The Churchill and I rarely leave reviews, but I had such a great experience that I wanted to share As soon as I arrived, Gerard warmly greeted me He was so helpful and took the time to answer all of my questions

I had a few requests and he went above and beyond to make sure that I was taken care of My room was beautiful and most importantly very clean I highly recommend staying at this hotel if you’re in the DC area

The Churchill Hotel was a great place to stay We loved the room and the view from the 9th floor was fantastic The valet was really great and professional

Had our car ready on time every time The room layout was good since it had a separate alcove that my wife called her “makeup room” and she loved having her own space Definitely would recommend!

Overall a pleasant stay! The hotel room was pretty average, but incredibly quiet Very close to many delicious restaurants and cafes! The staff was helpful and allowed us to store our bags before and after checkout Valet parking was on the expensive side, but was comparable to other places nearby

Only big concern – the hallways had a pretty terrible sewage smell, however it didn’t seem to extend into the rooms

Nik Rama

This is a pretty decent hotel in the center of Georgetown! We came for a few days to enjoy the city and be able to walk to most placesDo note that Valet parking is $50/day for regular cars and $60/day for oversized carsThe staff were helpful and friendly

Elevators are efficient and quickly come to your floorThe fitness center is surprisingly pretty big with multiple cardio equipment, some free weights, and a few machinesRooms are pretty comfortable, however our floors were not clean or vacuumed Small pieces of gravel were strewn across the roomThe other issue is the temperature of the hotel The elevators and hallways are extremely hot and humid as if there is no air conditioning! It’s a little gross feeling that humidity and heat throughout the elevator ride and walking to your room Once inside your room it is much betterThey are connected to the Chef Geoff restaurant, so if you are a Hilton Diamond member you will get a $10/guest/day to use there They have really good food for both breakfast and dinner so I highly recommend it!

CeCe Fiering

The room is nice and spacious but it’s obvious that some things are definitely cheap The bed was comfortable but the pillows are terrible The TV is old

All of the hardware is super cheap and not installed well in the bathroom The bathtub spout leaks, the towel hanger fell off the door, the shower valve doesn’t work very well Other than that, the location is nice Very close to nice restaurants and good location if you have to walk
