This hotel is exactly as advertised The room and common areas were very clean Every single employee was friendly and always asked how we were doing as you would pass them

Jess at the front desk also went above and beyond She helped us with early check-in because of an itinerary issue on our arrival day Then her and her family happened to be on the same train ride as we were on Friday evening Even then, when she could have just said hello and moved on, she took the time to make sure we were enjoying our trip and made some suggestions for other things to do and places to eat This team at this Fairfield are the best we have come across in all of our travels Thank you for making our stay so great

The location is fine, and you pay for it in the price This is funny, but when you use the hotel’s app, they ask you if you have any special requests, such as extra pillows or towels So we asked for two extra wash cloths

They actually have a drop-down menu in the app that allows you to specify the exact number So we send that off, and within minutes, the staff gets back to us saying, “towels are in the room” Um, yeah, but we wanted two extra wash cloths Well, no extras for us Aside from that, there was an uncomfy seat in the room, but it was an okay visit

The good – location is great Only 5 min or so walk to train station C&O canal right next to it

Winery nearby 24/7 cocoa and coffee Breakfast provided but i thought it would be better per the reviews Still, decent considering its complimentary Love their shampoo/showerl gel/conditioner! Pool was nice as was the jacuzziThe bad – wasn’t able to have a hot shower as hot water was not coming out Sink had hot water but not the tub/shower This was right before check out so we just showered with a lukewarm temp water Wish it was an actual hot shower before we left! Marijuana smell from the room Probably from a guest so not really their fault but was pretty strong Front desk was accomodating and changed our room

Everything was great, however they really need to step up the breakfast experience First of all we pay good rates to stay here No juice and a choice of only a omlette is very sad, plus it was full of cheese so even if I wanted too I couldn’t eat it

Scrambled eggs was not even a choice There was no milk for cereal just a few sad yogurts The bacon was burn and there was just bagels and biscuits no bread for toast Sorry this Holiday Inn really should give me a refund for my breakfast, I felt robbed

The beds are comfortable with nice linens and pillows Guest rooms are equipped with blackout curtains, hangers, iron, iron board and a well lit bathroom This hotel really nailed it by thinking through every part of the construction with guest the in mind The space is very functional and comfortable

Comfortable bed Quiet rooms couldnt even have hear other guests I found out after staying here and commenting how nice it was that my uncle built the hotel

Good work Dirk! The breakfast was open at 6 which always good and they have waffles, eggs, sausage, potatoes plus the other usual food The breakfast room was really nice as wellThe pool could have used a hot tub and the water tends to sit around the pool but it has a direct bathroom which is good, plus right by the elevators The steps are easy to find by the front door as well All in all a nicer motel than many especially for the location and price But nothing within walking distance if you come here

Great place to stay if in Cumberland! The layout of the house matches it’s age, as does most of the esthetics, and the house/location is very well maintained David goes out of his way to make sure you feel at home and have everything you need to enjoy your stay Thank you, David, for the top shelf service! With respect to the rooms, per the other reviews, some do not have a private bath The room I stayed did include a private bath and the bed and room itself were very relaxing/comfortable

With respect to the spa, I cannot speak to what it is or if it is currently open I saw a sign for it but did not ask or look into it any furtherLastly, just as a side note, downtown Cumberland has some really cool walking history trails; there are a good number of cool shops and things to do/explore, and the food/restaurant selection does not disappoint

The scent of cigarettes hits as you enter and stays with you as you ascend up the inn stairs Carpets stained with, something The walls of our room had pockets from what likely is water leakage

Toilet didn’t flush well and the provided plunger was needed Shower water had a sewage scent to it that either went away or I got used to so decided to shower anyway The outer door to the inn did not latch/lock properly which made me thankful we had a chain and bolt on our door The ceiling light did not work so we used the lamp in the room I was grateful we only booked one night and weighed the pros and cons of leaving and asking for money back or enduring, never returning, and leaving our experience It’s budget for sure So… not for me next time

Shelly Meadows

Disappointed We expected a pleasant stay in a historic B&B What we got was no hospitality (no live person at all), an old room lacking in warmth (just felt cold), a toilet that backed up and an unpleasant odor that permeated the room

The buildings were put together put unfortunately lack architectural and historical accuracy with a hodgepodge of rooms, staircases with stained carpet and poor decorating It’s a large undertaking to run a B&B this size I hope they improve and can be successful

We loved the location and affordability of this place as well as the ability to bring our dog That being said, we stayed in the bunk bed room and had not realized prior to booking that the rooms do not have air conditioning Also, the beds have only one very thin blanket so our kids were all freezing

We had brought two extra blankets with us and we gave them to our two youngest kids But they were still cold and we froze Next time, I’ll pay a little more and stay somewhere where the beds have real bedding and the room has heat If I had known that we needed to bring camping bedding (heavy sleeping bags) for 50 degree temperature, we could have planned better and we would have had a more positive experience It was sad to hear our kids whimpering because they were so cold We still had a fantastic time biking the GAP trail Also, the Track and Yak station, which is located in the same spot, is a fun stop to play games, buy souvenirs, and grab a cold drink We didn’t track or yak but we had fun at the station

Rest rooms/showers are extremely clean with clean towels available They are serviced often and thoroughly Laundry facilities for only $4 washer/dryer and soap

The camping is up a ramp from hell, and many mosquitoes the first week of July 21 The picnic tables in the camping area are in bad shape- mostly broken The host is friendly and full of advice Food and beverages for sale right there At the bottom of the hill -this is a great place to stay Camping on top- not so good

I had to stop over for the night while on a business trip into Maryland I paid a premium for this room but I did it because of the recent increase in violence going on at hotels everywhere I don’t know what the statistics are but I travel for work and I am seeing it more often than ever before

Violent crimes are happening in hotels with increasing frequency The company expense account rules and the IRS regulations may be an issue down the road but hopefully I’ll be alive to have the discussionsThis Hampton Inn was clean, had a lot of cameras inside and out It was fresh in appearance and had nice family oriented amenities Staff was friendly, able to answer questions about local options for ordering dinner or eating out Morning breakfast was an option as well Looks like the hot continental breakfasts are making a comeback after CoVid had them shut downHopefully it’s not the type of place someone will want to stay if they are engaged in those risky, illegal activities that tend to escalate into violence from time to time It’s certainly not a fool proof strategy, but in my opinion, it is similar to buying or renting a nicer home in a nicer neighborhood Not foolproof by any means, but maybe a little saferRoom cost after taxes was $172 for one night

Very quiet location- well maintained hotel with updates throughout! Love that pets are welcome and the pricing is competitive! Would like to see some added toiletries such as lotion and better quality tissues- also wish the thermostat setting wouldn’t reset to a default temp while out of the room I came back to a pretty chilly room –
