Three Chimney’s provided us with the best wedding experience we could have imagined! From the beautiful venue itself, with so much character in every room, to the delicious food, they were the entire package Kelsey and Romayne were incredible and made planning so easy and stress free They really went out of their way to add in special touches for us and make sure that we didn’t need to think of anything other than having fun and enjoying our special day

They also took care of our rehearsal and dinner the night before our wedding and made sure everything went smooth the entire weekend We couldn’t be happier and only have good things to say Looking forward to visiting for our anniversary dinner! Thank you so much!!

I just had a baby shower there this past Sunday, May 22nd I toured the facility a few months before and then booked it about 3 months in advance The facility is clean, pretty and very personal

I worked with Kelsey the event planner in regards to all the preparation for the event like food, tables and linens She was very difficult to work with, and very rude in the phone The week before the shower I called to try to understand when I can be there to set up decorations and she was very short with me on the phone I would recommend hosting an event here you just need to request to not work with Kelsey She added unneeded stress to what should be have been a happy day I have never been spoken to the way Kelsey spoke tome over the phone, one of the rudest experiences I have ever had as a paying customer The day of we found out that she wasn’t going to be there and we received no heads up A staff member named Romain was there to help day of and she was amazing and really worked to help us Roman is a very helpful and kind person who truly turned the entire experience around for me

Laura GOUDREAU

Recently, we got married at the three chimneys inn It was the Perfect day From the time we toured and booked to the day of event and beyond, Kelsey, Romaine, and their staff worked hard and seamlessly to make our event run smoothly

Kelsey was the best wedding coordinator, responding patiently to our many questions and follow up emails Both Kelsey and Romaine were very present and calming all weekend! They always had a smile on their faces and made sure we and our guests had everything we needed As the night was underway, they broke down all our decor and neatly placed it for our pick up the next day I can not recommend this venue enough for anyones wedding or other big event! It’s a beautiful setting, they work well with other vendors such as the photographer, bakery, or dj, and their staff and accommodations were very welcoming Thank you Kelsey, Romaine, and all your staff once again!!

Quaint, old guesthouse Definitely a viable option for your hotel dollars over the chains They weren’t really sweet up for business travelers though as the desk is not continually manned and breakfast doesn’t start until 8

My room was large and clean, albeit with a very small showerRecommended

Stephen Priest

I have only eaten once there and that was for Thanksgiving The table decor was interesting and they used real acorns in their decorations I had to keep my very young son from playing with them

The food was good This was years agoI visited during the free 🆓 comic book day that was happening across the state I ran into an old friend and we got caught up on events The room for the convention, that Jetpack Comics Ralph DiBenardo was in charge of, seemed a little small, but, the outside was also being used as well Nice looking garden Decent amount of parking 🅿️Good place to rent space for a medium to large gathering

I had my wedding block there this year and I was mortified by one of their staff My family who drove over two hours away were denied getting back into their room bc their card wasn’t working and staff wouldn’t make them a new key card It was 1am and she was yelling and physically hit his hand away when he was trying to show his ID and reservation number

They ended up leaving having to leave that night I still can’t believe it, and never got a refund They also were incredibly rude and not easy to work with I would not use them for a wedding block

Sandra Stahl

Worked here for 2 monthsAfter having an emergency and not being able to return they did not turn in my payroll When I called about it I was told I had to wait another 2 weeks to be paid

(Which is illegal) I have had to call labor board at this point as I still have yet to be paidas an employee I would NOT recommend

What a perfect and affordable place to stay for a visit to Portsmouth The location is an easy walk to downtown and all the best restaurants and stores The room was beautiful and the parking lot made traveling back and forth super easily

My husband and I traveled for the first time with our 1 year old son and the rooms layout with the full kitchen was so accommodating for him and made our trip that much more enjoyable for our family We were even able to easily add a pack and play for him to sleep in when we booked our room, which was so helpful to not have to worry about where he’d sleepDoug, Abby and their team were great with communicating check in and check out and any instructions, recommendations we could need for our stay and exploring the town We will absolutely be back to stay againThank you!

Erik Nadolink

Honestly not a single complaint Clean, well thought out decor, spacious, plenty of room for food preparation if needed- and a well stocked mini bar with fair prices and large bottles The private rear entrance in our 1st floor unit, number 3, was particularly handy with our pooch companion

Contactless check in and check out, but help is always a phone call away Close enough to walk to all attractions easily but quiet and quaint While we could hear minor foot traffic on the stairwell above us in the morning, we did not hear any voices at all The gated off street parking is more than convenient especially in the city Hat’s off to management for maintaining a clean, reasonably priced inn Portsmouth is a beautiful New England destination any time of year

Colleen Turner

The INN Downtown is the perfect home away from home The apartments are comfortable, modern, spacious and very clean! It’s located in the heart of downtown Portsmouth and easily walkable to tons of bars, restaurants, and shopping Doug is also an incredible host – quick to answer any and all questions

I highly recommend The INN for your stay in town

We loved that our family could spread out in a suite of two rooms, one with a queen bed, and another with two doubles plus fridge, microwave, desk, chair and counter We don’t mind sharing a bathroom so appreciated not having to pay for two whole rooms and just a bit extra for the suite It was also very convenient to be able to charge electric vehicle overnight for a small additional charge

Our room was never cleaned during the three nights we stayed, which wasn’t a problem for us, but some people might not like it The breakfast wasn’t great, but we didn’t expect that for the price We will probably stay here again

David MacLeod

I was very pleased with this motel The service was courteous and efficient Very friendly and helpful owners

This is why a motel owned and operated are superior to big Franchise I was travelling from Southwest Florida which I have done for several years I must say the BEST motel I stayed in Room was very comfortable and TV selection was great Location was near I95 and close to Gas and restaurants

Joshua Bryant

The Port Inn was good Not amazing, but certainly not bad either The room was a mixture of the outdated and updated

There was also a bit of a smell in there that we couldn’t quite track down However, the room was overall clean and the staff was friendly We also loved that they have complementary electric car chargers Overall, I would stay there again for the price we paid

I stayed there in august of 2022 I would give them 0 stars if I couldI called and asked if an early check in was available, the front desk was very nice and accommodated that

When I got into the room there was a stain on the comforter, the room had an odor to it, there was previous guests belongings left in the room, there was a large amount of hair between the box spring and mattress and there was a makeup brush and necklace between the other box spring and mattressI did not notice these things until later in the evening because I initially had just put bags in and went out for the dayI spoke to the front desk manager He offeredme a new comforter and for housekeeping to re clean the next dayI asked for a discount which he offered 15% and proceeded to explain that the cleanliness of the room was my fault because I asked for an early check in which rushed housekeepingThis obviously made me angry He continued to argue with me so I walked away He ran down the hallway after me SCREAMING at me to get outI was appalled I did not end up leaving I just kept walking and once I got to my room I did not hear from him againI have never had ANYONE scream at me like that ever I was mortified Especially from managementI used to work for a best western Best western should be ashamed and embarrassed to associate themselves with this location Absolutely embarrassed

Kayla Neumann

Pay the extra money and go to the hotel right down the street We stayed there last night and I used to work at a hotel so I know what to look for These rooms are disgusting! Our room smelled of cigarette smoke even though the hotel is no smoking

They tried covering it up with febreeze which obviously didn’t work We lifted the mattress to look for bed bugs and under it was DISGUSTING!! Full of hair and food crumbs and God knows what else The lamps needed a serious wash down Mattress was stained with God knows what else Please please just go somewhere else!!!

We came down from Maine for high tea, and our meal was *completely* worth the drive We placed a reservation on Open Table, which I’m glad we did, as the tea parlor was busy even in the off-season The food, tea, service, and atmosphere were all just exemplary

The building is an immaculately maintained historical house full of beautiful details, fixtures, and furniture from the past Cindy made our celebration very special We highly recommend Silver Fountain for dining

Charlie Zizza

This is a beautiful and historic place to stay I spent a lot of time just looking around and enjoying the details Each room is decorated in it own style which I appreciate

The breakfast and tea are great and the owners are friendly and clearly care a lot about the place Dover is a fantastic town with a lot to do for its size (restaurants, bars, shops, history, etc) and the downtown is easily walkable from Silver Fountain Inn

Tracey Downs

We went to the Silver Fountain Inn for our first murder mystery experience We had a group of 13 people, ranging in age from 21 to 78, and EVERYONE had a blast!!! The Inn is absolutely gorgeous, the rooms were all so unique and cozy and the food was delish! Pam and Jim, the owners; went out of there way to make sure everyone had a great time We all cannot wait to go back

I highly recommend staying here for any reason, not just for the murder mystery weekendBut if that’s your thing … then suspense and drama await you 😁 !

Would NOT recommend staying here!! Rooms are small, bathtub gross They never told us the pool was closed which was the only reason we booked this hotel We left the hotel right after check in to go somewhere else (that was nicer and MUCH better!)

They refused to cancel or give me a refund Worst customer service ever!! I asked if I could go through Expedia to get a refund and they said if Expedia called they would tell them not to give me a refund They also ran my card for $114 and when I looked at my bank acct it said it was run for $164 When I called they said they charge an ‘Incidental’ Fee of $50 that eventually falls off – and they never mentioned that either!! I’ve been trying to contact the manager who is avoiding my phone calls This place was just a travesty and scam all around For $20 more we went to the Juniper Hill Hotel in Ogunquit which I 100% recommend – spacious, clean, nice rooms, friendly staff, and a working pool!

Charming hotel with amazing restaurant and friendly staff First, Salt is an amazing restaurant It has the best lobster bisque I’ve ever tried! They also make great drinks

Also, I accidentally fat fingered the reservation and hit the wrong date They had no problem waiving the change fee from bookingcom, and just fixed it on the spot Super classy organization that is very fitting of the building they’re managing I’ve stayed there about 6-10 times And love it each time

Katie G

Prior to our recent stay at the Wentworth by the Sea, I read up on the reviews listed on this page I was very weary of my booking after looking at all the negative comments but kept our reservation in hopes that our opinion would be different than thoseWell, it was wonderful

The hotel, the restaurant, the staff, everything was fantastic My husband and I spent two nights in a water view king suite which looked out over the marina on either side The heated floors in the bathroom were just an added perk to an already lovely roomWe ate at Salt and the food was magnificent The lobster bisque, while pricey, is an experience all should tryCould we afford to stay there during peak season? Definitely not Is this hotel in need of some cosmetic touchups? Sure But would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone looking to getaway for a few nights We will definitely be back!

I was so not blown away by this place For $650 a night it time to step up the details I was non stop disappointed

I understand times are hard w staff/supply but don’t sell at $650 if you are going to give motel 8 serviceDirty aged room Had old water bottles under bed So dusty Aged room w molding coming off Robes had holes and stains Pretty sure the mismatched toiletries were used beforeRoom service was terrible Use to be a point of luxury Breakfast missing stuff – comes with one cold cup of coffee instead of a warmer pot Just junk and no extras like jams for breads Our order was missing half its items and no even consideration of complimentingFor a place like this you’d think there would be some extra details like some water in lobby, maybe some coffee – nothingPaid $170 for one night for dog – there’s no trash bins outside to dispose of waste Don’t let them in outdoor pool area When you stay at Westin you get a bowl, plush bed… if you are going to welcome dogs – welcomeThem Sure are paying for themBathrooms in public area were filthy and towels in pool area constantly goneSo disappointed

The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance to all of Downtown Portsmouth The front desk staff were very helpful and friendly Room was large and bright

Bed was comfortable Bathroom seemed a bit dirty like it had not been thoroughly cleaned before my stay Complimentary breakfast was unfussy and welcomed Drinks were available for purchase from the front desk and were reasonably priced Overall stay was as expected from a 3-star accommodation

J B

Hotel room was actually very spacious, clean, and modern The kitchenette was equipped with a large refrigerator, microwave, sink, and dishwasher The bathroom was a little odd with the shower design, but like the rest of the room, it was nice and spacious

Staff were very nice and accommodating So here’s the issue The walls are paper thin – more so than any hotel we’ve experienced You can hear everything going on in the surrounding rooms It honestly felt like we were sharing our room with the family next door We (me, my daughter and wife) had 2 nights of horrible sleep because of this It’s a shame because the hotel and staff are very nice but getting terrible sleep because of paper thin walls is a deal breaker for us

Sarah Flathers

My husband and I have been staying at this location for almost 10 years now We love Portsmouth and this hotel is extremely convenient when coming to visit family all the way from North Carolina We now have a 2

5 year old son and finally was able to make the trip since Covid while I am currently 7 months pregnant We have never had an issue and have always enjoyed the staff Our stay was overall great until it came time to leave Because we live SO far away and driving with a toddler it is not the easiest, we needed to leave at 4am We loaded the majority of our items in to our car that we parked right out front of the entrance the day before so when we left, we only had a few items to carry down My husband stayed upstairs in our room, getting dressed, 25 year old asleep in the bed, while I took a duffle bag, our two pillows, and a few other items down We were staying in a suite so the bedroom is separate I wanted to get the car warmed up so we could easily transfer our toddler to the car Unfortunately, I did forget the hotel key upstairs in the midst of grabbing items, it was 4am When I went back inside and rang the bell, a man came to the door and said that he would not let me back inside after I explained to him what room I was in, forgot my card key, and that my husband and 25 year old was back upstairs in the room waiting for me to come help grab the last few items I had my drivers license AND confirmation of our booking on my cell phone and he would still not allow me back in He would not even call up to our room to ask my husband to verify it was in fact me to get back in My husbands cell phone was plugged in where our sleeping child was After almost 20 minutes and my husband worried for me, he checked his phone Had to wake up our child to come downstairs to get me While I completely Understand safety, I am Clearly 7 months pregnant and had my identification to compare to his information in the system! The man could have confirmed if he went back on the cameras because he was NOT at the front desk when I cam Down to see I had JUST come downstairs, arms full He could have easily allowed me to sit inside the lobby until my husband came downstairs instead of making me sit outside The man was extremely RUDE! Telling me to find another way?! We will be contacting cooperate and are owed a written apology This was handled completely extreme I was not some drunk walking in, trying to cause problems

The shower is really nice The room fridge and microwave are very nice Larger than I expected Lobby is comfortable and nicely decorated Staff is pleasant and helpful Location is good but shuttle service was a bit slow Hallway noise late at night woke me but it was not loud nor prolonged

I travel for work and am cooped up in hotels 90% of the year This hotel refused to clean my room, and then when they finally did they wouldn’t change bedding I had been staying here for over 3 weeks and refused to change bedding

After longer talks they finally came and changed bedding As a diamond member this should’ve been addressed and never occur again However, this is the second Marriott in 2 months that refused to clean rooms Some say it is because of extended stays Last Marriott was only a week stay and refused to Clean Here at this Marriott, I am staying for 2 months and they won’t Clean more than once a week That would be fine if they changed bedding but I had to specifically ask for new bedding as it wasn’t changed Very frustrating to be living on the road and dealing with this Am I not paying a new room price everyday? Why has cleaning been restricted to once a week? Shouldn’t it be every day cleaned if I am paying the same price everyday? Isn’t that in the agreement or something? Very upset from my stay here

Deon Caine

At check in, first thing that was said “we don’t service the rooms every day You will be here 5 nights so you get 1 service day” Really? I’m paying up to $400 per night and you can’t even service the room? You had to pay for breakfast

Prices were crazy high $11 for a breakfast burrito? $3 for a soda out of the machine I will not be back, in fact this place pushed me to find a different brand other than Marriott They try to squeeze every penny out of you even though you pay through the nose for their rooms

A unique experience in this out-of-the-way hotel While everything on the surface seemed to be good, there were a few notable, interesting things The staff and service seem to be top notch

The continental breakfast was as you would expect it to be, small items to eat, without much fanfare The thing that got us was the fact that when we entered our suite, we were greeted with a heavily stained carpet Seeing as we were not at the beach, or someplace where this would be normal, it threw red flags as to how the room would be But the room turned out to be pretty fantastic With separate bedrooms, each with their own bathrooms, it was perfect for our large family The only other semi-complaint would be the inundating smell of chlorine bleach when you first enter the main lobby (not a bad thing, per se, since it denotes cleanliness) But the lack of other smells commonly associated with hotels nowadays (weed, mold, mildew, etc) was a pleasant surprise The elevator was a bit rickety, especially for family members that have phobias in them But the rate of speed was highly-respectable The flow of water to the showers was great, but the temperature could use tweaking on the fourth floor The staff were ubër-friendly, including a kind woman at the breakfast offering chocolate chips for our waffles, or the front desk woman who was kind to greet us when we would come downstairs The breakfast area was very clean and tidy; well-maintained But that stain remained the downfall of the adventure for my wife and daughter I would give it a solid 47 stars, but cannot go the full 5, although I gave it 5 for the overall (Also, a HUGE bonus was being right next to a Mexican restaurant — Margaritas — with easy access to and from, but that’s not really a thing to hitch or kick a review)

I’ve been spending weekends at this Inn for a little while now I live with 6 other people and need some time to myself occasionally and so far have been extremely pleased with the accommodations as well as the staff Unfortunately yesterday my experience was not so great

The manager was on duty at the desk and booked my room Ground floor, which I don’t like but was too tired to ask him to change it as he was handing me the already activated keys and I just wanted to get some sleep To my great disappointment, when I got into my room, it was a room for someone with special needs The bathroom was enormous but with nothing in it Assistance bars all over the walls, no counter space whatsoever except just enough to surround the sink My feet didn’t even touch the floor when I used the commode The bar in the closet was about 2 1/2 feet off the floor so my clothes were touching the ground The bed felt like this mattress had been there for quite some time and the rugs were worn I mentioned to the manager that I didn’t like the room and his response was “Really?” That’s it Really In my experience it’s procedure to inform the guest if you can only offer a room other than what they are requesting I’m sure it would be a great room, excepting the mattress, for someone in a wheelchair, but I am not, and now I am not comfortable renting here as I believe the management has no interest in pleasing the guest, only in getting as many rooms filled as possible in any way he can I’d also like to add that I’ve never had a problem with any other desk clerk They are all very pleasant and willing to accommodate I’ve only had one other complaint when staying there and was immediately offered another room But as I was able to fix the problem myself, I didn’t take it But it was nice to be given the option I would never had accepted the room I stayed in last night, had I been informed before checking in Sadly, I’ll be looking for something else for my weekends in the future Although I enjoyed most of my stays, I feel that if management doesn’t care about the guests comfort, there can only be more problems in the future

I stayed at the Garrison for 8 days for work From Jamie and her colleagues at the front desk, who consistently went above and beyond to ensure I was comfortable and had everything I needed, to the amazing landscaper I never met but whose beautiful flowers, lively bird-feeders, and hotel-replica handmade birdhouse I admire, this place was a perfect place to spend the week for work In spite of the hotel apparently being totally full while I was there, and also serving canine guests, my room was **so quiet**

It was amazing liked it so much I’ll be stopping there next weekend (assuming I can get a room for us) on our family road trip next weekend

This is a nice hotel located right next to/behind Dunkin Donuts and CVS I had the ‘Efficiency Room’ with a King size bed It was a quite and pleasant stay for me which is what I wanted

I gave 4 stars due to there being a narrow shower stall instead of a bathtub and also that the bed was a bit too soft as it felt like your back is sinking into the bed Otherwise, they have good amenities, a decent breakfast and is in a convenient location

I would give this review a negative 5 if I could We booked a room and then canceled it immediately We were charged almost $400 for a “no show

” When we called they refused to give us a refund and told us, “they could have sold the room 20 times over that night” and “it wasn’t there issue” Now when we try to call they screen our phone calls and do not answer The one time I got through and spoke to Kathy, she told me that the hotel manager Tanya wasn’t available and that she would call me back Of course, Tanya never called back When I asked when she would be available Kathy said, “Oh you know, it is just so hard to tell with her I don’t know” Clearly they are avoiding us So very difficult to give a review on a hotel room that we never actually stayed in and were charged full price EXTREMELY disappointed in their customer service When I tried to explain our situation, it was clear they had zero empathy They are just a money hungry company who can care less about their customers

Great Island Inn is a superb combination of stylish design and welcoming hospitality located in a quaint and peaceful neighborhood within easy distance of Portsmouth We found the accommodations spotlessly clean and nicely appointed with great looking furniture, quality linens and soaps The little kitchen had everything we needed to prepare a meal for breakfast or a quiet supper

There is nothing “mini” about the mini bar!! We found the refrigerator very well-stocked with a good selection of drinks and snacks We loved the view (Room 5) over the sweet neighborhood and the Piscataqua River New Castle Island is a lovely location and Great Island Inn is a gem!
