It’s an average sort of place In general it looks like the others It’s a franchise, so not owned by Marriott, but rather by an individual who is seldom if ever seen

The long term employees there are decent All of the employees are severely underpaid All of the employees rely on some sort of special circumstance to make ends meetfood stamps, welfare, relatives with access to some sort of peculiar funding, etc It’s actually quite sad in this way Be prepared to tip generously and graciously to these employees who seldom if ever get to go anywhere and have no chance at retirement Understand that many of these people are college graduates, trade educated and many are multi-lingual They do it because they’re good at it, they work as a team and quite frankly it’s all there is for hospitality geared individuals Tips make a huge difference, so you’d better do it And do it heavily Don’t assume that desk people are paid more than housekeeping just because they look different, wear different clothes or speak differently In essence, they are all slaves If you stay there then these slaves are working for you, so be prepared to do the right thing by making their lives a little better If you can afford to stay there then you certainly have more than they It’s a shame that I even have to explain this Tip big-time Be polite Be understanding Chill out and be thankful Talk less Tip more Be low impact Tip more Tell Marriott they should be ashamed of their corporate slave scheme Tell Marriott to take direct control and responsibility of the place rather than run this slave scheme Enjoy your stay!

Overall, a nice place Clean rooms, surprisingly good breakfast Like that the sitting area in the room was separate from the bedroom, as I get up early while my wife sleeps a little later

The mattresses on the queen beds are about ready to be replaced in my opinion, but provided for a good sleep We had some people upstairs who had kids who were jumping around quite a bit, but fortunately, there antics did not last long Staff was great and provided good information on things to do in the Strasburg area The pool and exercise room were in the process of being renovated, so these were not available The restaurant next door offers a 10% discount if staying at the Fairfield Inn, so don’t forget to ask for it We loved this restaurant as well!

Room looked dusty like it hadn’t been cleaned at all, there was still a sock behind tv from previous guests, there was a pill of some sort under fridge which definitely created a health and safety hazard for guest’s children If you stay here definitely check for these things before letting your little ones roam free in room, really unacceptable cleaning practices, yet in there website they state they take cleaning and sanitizing seriously By the looks of it , now i doubt if they even changed the sheets

Definitely unsatisfactory cleaning procedures, there should be someone on top of housekeeping, as sadly as it sounds It shouldn’t take a bad review to check areas like these, this is not a room for improvement thing, it’s someone not doing their job, period, Breakfast was good, great bacon Front desk clerk at night was helpful and courteous

We loved our stay here! Joan and Kathy are the best hosts They are very kind and we had wonderful chats with them Joan and Kathy spoiled us with lots of cookies and other tasty treats, and directed us to some of the best places in town! The cottage is super cute with lots of art pieces, snacks and all the comfort you need

The porch swing is a nice little addition, excellent to relax in the evening The breakfast was so delicious and filling, with lots of variety and innovative items such as their spiced apples We would definitely like to come stay again!

This was our second stay and I’m already checking my calendar to see when I can come back If you want a stuffy or formal experience then you may not love it here If you want to feel welcomed and pampered like you’re visiting your favorite aunt who just happens to be the best cook ever then this is the place for you

We stayed in the cottage each time because we like to spread out but I’ve seen the rooms in the house and they are all so nice and spacious I would be very happy in any of them The breakfast is always beautifully presented and delicious Don’t be afraid to ask for what you want… want to try a small serving of something? They’ll do that for you! We met a repeat customer our first time there and she was staying again this weekend – it’s like visiting old friends everyone shares a story over breakfast You have your own small table and you don’t have to socialize if that’s not your thing This visit we hung out at the bar and shared laughs with other guests, Joan, & Kathy Such good times! The rooms are beautiful and the bed is so comfortable I even loved the pillows and I can never find a good pillow away from home All the small details really make you feel special This is the perfect getaway! Can’t wait to go back and see Joan & Kathy and my buddy Lucky

Like staying at your grandma’s house, except you have your own living room and bathroom! Joan, and her twin, Kathy (my apologies if I mispelled)misspelled, are awesome hosts The breakfast is delicious and VERY filling I’ve never had French toast that large, and struggled to finish it after the fruit and muffin

They even made muffins my wife could eat, despite her many allergies We stayed in Nancy’s Perch, and ended up extending our stay by several days to enjoy the area, and the breakfast They left several complimentary snacks in the room, including fresh cookies! And the huge porch is great for relaxing, with beer on tap This was my first B&B stay, and Joan set the bar high Short walk downtown, but Spelunkers (burgers & ice cream) is just about a block away The room was great with a separate living room area

Fantastic experience at the Twi-Light I even booked for an extra night one day into my stay here, I was so pleased Contact free check-in with the friendly owners and great safety protocol throughout

My room was clean, comfortable, and well-appointed, as well as being cute and recently updated I also really liked that the small bathroom window opened, so I could hear birds and other fall nature sounds in the mornings as I prepared for my day Highly recommend and will return if I’m in the area!

This place was a great stay! The people were very helpful and great personality Very clean They are not pet friendly but they allowed my birds to stay with me

This hotel does everything right The check-in/checkout process was friendly, efficient, and smooth The staff made me feel like they wanted me to stay at their hotel

The room was clean, comfortable, and no obnoxious odorsThe breakfast was healthy and tasty with options for any normal personI make it a point to stay here when I have to spend the night in this area and I recommend this hotel to everyone

D Par

We we were concerned that our room 224 faced the road But it had a beautiful view of trees that blocked the view of the road We did not have an issue with road noise

The odd room numbers on our floor toward the back of the hotel had a beautiful view I would recommend asking for that room The pool area was beautiful and had a cute deck area with chairs This would be great for families traveling with kids You can run over to Mc Donald’s next door and give them lunch or dinner on the back deck The breakfast was good My only issue was with the rooms are a little dated but clean The fitness area TV was not working and was unbearably hot

Terri “tlinnhiggi” S linn

This was a very clean hotel with friendly staff and a good location close to interstate access but I had one major complaint

The extremely hard mattress I stay in hotels monthly and it has been a very long time since I have slept on a mattress this firm Most Hamptons have good beds but this was atypical The pillows were great Overall not a bad stay

Beautiful setting on the creek and in a great location relative to Shenandoah, but that’s about where it endsAs many reviewers mention, the vehicle sounds driving on the overhead bridge are relentless and really take away from it all It’s way louder than you expect

I would’ve heard less cars had I camped in my own backyardAlthough I don’t have very high expectations or even need bathroom facilities while camping, these weren’t as expected based on other reviewers They were far from clean Yes, the water was hot and 1 of the toilets flushed Just make sure you “poop” in the right oneMore concerning than the facilities, Pam did not seem to like having kids in her campground We had 5 children in our group under 10 They are all respectful, well-behaved children, but she managed to make them feel uncomfortable and unwelcome She told them she didn’t want them riding their bikes “all over the place” and that they should stay in their campsite They all ended up being scared of her yelling at them instead of exploringOverall, we still had a good time and made lots of memories, but this review is for the campground itself I believe this place was probably very nice at one time, and maybe will be again someday… but for now, you can find something better for the same price

Todd G.

Camped here for a weekend in early April while we day hiked the AT and it was fantastic Pam, the manager, was great She was very friendly and helpful

Our campsite where we parked our van was next to the creek and it had electricity and water Hot showers and bathrooms were also available which were kept very clean We will definitely be going back!

Meg Woyak

We have camped many times as a family and this was definitely not a “worst” but far from a “best” experience The setting is lovely (minus the highway), however there is a lot of poison ivy and virginia creeper along the creek banks and trails This campground is right next to a highway

Unless you get a campsite on the creek the vehicle sounds are constant We wanted water and electric hook-ups so we only had options within earshot of the road the bathrooms are very small and when I asked the woman who runs the place if we could get more hand soap in the women’s restroom she informed me that she doesn’t stock it and whatever was in there must have been left by the cleaners i was worried about the TP running out but there was more under the sink the “play area” looks more like a dump where people left old rusty toys that their kids don’t play with anymore, but i will admit that my 2 yo wasn’t phased in the slightest and enjoyed what was there my older kids (ages 6 and 8) were either occupied along the creek or bored i made the mistake of not packing card games or art supplies for them so don’t make the same mistake! there’s just not much to do at the campground itself

Last week, my husband and I were so delighted with our two-night, enchanted stay at Blue Door Kitchen and Inn We had with us our son and grandson from Phoenix, and each one of us raved about the stay throughout the trip back to Silver Spring, Maryland Reem was so professional and incredibly helpful from beginning to end with answering my myriad questions

We had dined last June on the lovely patio for our 55th anniversary, and we promised to return–but this time for an overnight stay Everyone at the Blue Door Kitchen and Inn treated us like royalty The food was delicious and varied We were offered a choice of eight starters, eight entrees, and three of the most delicious desserts we’ve ever had There were eight well-fortified cocktails on offer and a well-selected wine menu The rooms are large, very comfortable, and equipped nicely, including with a handy coffee maker What a wonderful way to get off the Beltway and dive instantly into a quiet getaway with only the birds to break the silence Thank you, everyone Mimi

Lovely Inn and Restaurant, Reem and Chef are great hosts and their home is beautiful Check in is easy and all by code (we were emailed an external door code a d room code the day before arrival) so no contact Fresh flowers were waiting for us along with a note and chocolate in a very comfortable room with a sitting area

There are 4 rooms in the house, we saw other guests in passing but never heard anyoneDinner was outstanding Menu changes weekly based on what Chef gets in fresh We had rye and spinach ravioli, fresh garden salad (from their own garden), white and green asparagus with ham and a sauce like hollandaise (so tasty), Shrimp with black squid ink pasta, beef tenderloin with potato cake and celery root puree Followed by apple tart and a strawberry dessertFlavors were excellent and not overdoneWe loved our stay, our dinner and our hosts A beautiful property and worth a visit

Came here for my best friend’s birthday Was able to get a reservation that morning (yay!) and nothing about this place disappointed We are huge foodies so I wanted to make sure we were getting quality, delicious food

I brought my daughter (who is very picky) and she LOVED the soup! She doesn’t even like soup! Staff, service, ambiance, wine, meals, and dessert were phenomenal We felt very taken care of and appreciated the sweet “happy birthday” touch on the dessert, as well as the intentional greeting from the woman who coordinated the reservation with me and came to introduce herself Our server was awesome too We will be back!

Just came here for another great meal! I always get the duck and I’m always so happy with it! Two other items from this meal were also memorable: the French Lullaby and the salad verte! The salad was THE best salad I’ve ever had anywhere

those little crunchy herbs were divine! I loved every bite! Service is impeccable Our servers were very young compared to past visits, but they were awesome and took the best care of us Can’t wait to go back

I was very disappointed in this B&B and would not recommend My husband and I were traveling cross country on our motorcycle and after staying with family for a few days we were so looking forward to our night at L’Auberge The location is really beautiful, the grounds are lovely and Emily was very nice when we checked in

Because we had limited storage on our bike we didn’t have dress clothes with us and I asked Emily if we would be ok eating in the restaurant because of the ‘dress code’ She assured us multiple times that the menu that night was ‘casual’ and we’d be fine in our jeans or even shorts and tee shirts Emily helped us carry our bags to the Van Gogh room which was really lovely, furnishings beautiful, bed was comfortable, linens were nice and I was really looking forward to the whirlpool bath after dinner However, there was NO SHOWER in this room There is a hand held shower in the whirlpool tub but honestly, I use a hand held shower to wash my dog or clean my whirlpool It’s not feasible to expect grown adults to use that as a shower Seriously Had this been the end of the story i would have given them 4 stars for the room, even without a shower Dinner just spoiled the whole night, the entire stay We were judged by the restaurant staff based on on clothes, even tho we were GUESTS, the servers ignored us all night They had servers in black jackets and 2 on white shirts We had a white shirt, young guy, who didn’t know answers to our questions indicating he was a junior server or bus person? After waiting an HOUR for our meal, looking at our EMPTY WATER GLASSES and my EMPTY WINE GLASS while watching another table be served by every single black jacket in the place, we finally lost our patience My husband ordered chicken and no where on the menu does it say it was going to take an hour When it was finally served, BURNT the person serving said “at least it’s not raw” Wow But you know, it actually was raw and potatoes were undercooked One black jacket said she was sorry and did we want dessert? We ordered dessert to go and this time we had the other white shirt server, who was the nicest person in that restaurant We went in there expecting to spend $300 on a nice meal Instead we were ignored, served awful food and treated extremely poorly And then they had the nerve to give us a bill for $16000 The next morning neither of us wanted to go to the restaurant for breakfast so I requested it in the room instead My husband left a note when we left and I spoke with Emily about our experience but the best they would do is comp our dinner, altho I’ve yet to see the credit They advertise they are the Best High End restaurant in Virginia but let me tell you, I’m from Palm Beach, Florida and if they are the best in Virginia, you all have my sympathy Go anywhere else

Perfectly suitable for the cost The place was clean which is the most important thing and the room had everything we needed for one night Staff were helpful and nice

Not the most extravagant hotel, but good for the price Not 5 stars as it’s obviously not a super modern hotel (but certainly not old or run down) and a patch on the floor was a little sticky Would stay again without hesitation

My husband and I spent the weekend at the beautiful Glen Gordon Manor for a much needed getaway We were warmly welcomed the minute we arrived being offered two complimentary glasses of champagne and a tour of the property Our spacious room was well appointed and extremely comfortable with a large bathroom complete with shower and tub

We were spoiled with coffee delivery to our room each morning and enjoyed delicious breakfasts in the dining areas with gorgeous views We had 5-star dinners at the Manor both nights and both menus were exquisite and delectable with impeccable and friendly service Saturday we could not get out due to the blizzard and the Manor provided a beautiful and hearty picnic lunch brought to our room by the owners themselves While you’re there, treat yourself to a massage, you won’t regret it The entire Manor staff was friendly and welcoming from start to finish We will definitely return and highly recommend Glen Gordon Manor for a beautiful, relaxing and memorable vacation
