This was my first time staying at a Homewood Suites and it will not be my last This was a great hotel and experience I’ll return for a future stay

The room was a nice size, it was clean, the kitchen area was stocked and the appliances were nice The bed was comfortable and the breakfast the next morning was good The ambiance of the hotel was great

Madhu

If on business in Whiting then this is definitely a place to checkout With a full kitchen (which is also equipped with pots and pans – have to clarify this since some Hilton full kitchen properties don’t have any pots/pans and stoves are available on request) you have the freedom to cook or make real tea Spacious rooms and enough parking space

The complementary breakfast is a good way to get a quick bite before your work/vacation day Shall visit it again if I’m back in town

mauricio alves

I travel for work and stay at least 18 nights per month in hotels I prefer Hilton properties After checking in today 05/14 to this hotel I went to take a shower and there were no hot water! I called the front desk and was told that the had a water heater fail the day before and many units had no hot water

How dare you expecting that someone will go to a hotel with no hot water?Management offered me a room to shower in why was I not checked in to that unit to start with? This is completed unacceptable!

We sometimes stay here overnight in a king suite Last April, we had a horrible time because there were loud parties in the room above and adjacent to us all night long and we swore we would never stay again BUT WAIT

This past Friday, I decided to try one more time because it is so convenient for us and it was back to normal It was quiet The rooms were clean It was a really good experience overall The rooms could use a little updating at this point, but everything was as good as it could be and the staff were really nice, especially at breakfast

Stacy Swagearns

We have stayed here in the past, and had a pleasant stay, however this past weekend was horrible They had a large, LOUD party in the hotel on Saturday, you could hear the music throughout the entire hotel, until almost midnight Our floor was loud until 3:00am, we called numerous times to the front desk to complain and the staff seemed to be part of the party, justifying the behavior and actually telling us that the people hosting the party were paying customers

Ummm…so we were and last time I checked, we paid to SLEEP in a hotel,Not be kept up all night like it was a frat house We will be complaining to corporate as well as this was completely unacceptable

Corey Harris, MBA

The customer service and professionalism is superb I met the manager in the morning, and I must say she was amazing Despite the piece of hair in the shower which is pretty common, the room was clean and the bed was comfortable

Third floor was also quiet I appreciate the cameras on the floor for added security Minimum breakfast but healthy options was much appreciated

Tinika Hubbard

All I want to say, that although my room was not the best in regards to it being cleaned properly before my arrival and it stated that it was: Summer and Laderrick are two amazing people who are employed their Their hospitality from beginning to end was immensely impeccable They did all they could within their power to make my stay worth while and because of them two, I will be coming back and highly recommend this hotel

Never let a bad seed spoil the entire apple

Fraternal Hero

Grabbed a last-minute room via Priceline the night before The only thing I have to say is that there was too much walking to my liking to where the parking is and how to find your room It is hard for me to walk and as there was no parking in the front and I parked in the back, I was lost immediately going into the back door

Once I found the elevator that worked, on the other side of the hotel then I still had to go to the third floor Then once getting to the floor I needed, I found my room was actually closer to the broken elevator I checked in at 11pm checkout was at 11am I requested a later checkout and was told they could only go to 11:30am I was worn out by the time I got to my room, my back was killing me, and I was exhausted I wanted to sleep in, but I knew with all the walking I would have to do in order to check out, I ended up ignoring that extra 30 minutes and just checked out at 11am I hope they get the other elevator fixed for those who have a harder time walking around Most hotels when you request a late check out give you an hour or two, I was surprised they limited it to an extra 30 minutes I had just driven for 8 hours and wanted to rest up before I needed to drive the rest of the trip the day after (another 5 hours) So was really hoping to sleep in Otherwise, room was clean – bug free and had no issues otherwise Good price for the stay as well!

The staff is wonderful at this location They were attentive and polite The convenience area has snacks and treats, showcasing a good selection

The complimentary breakfast was delicious and hot, with a great variety to choose from There is a workout room on site, so that you don’t have to miss your daily workout Be sure to bring a pair of wired headphones to use on the machines There is a trail that you can walk on with outdoor seating and the view is lovely The only downside is that they had way too much chlorine in the pool It lightened our swimsuits unevenly, and changed the color Overall the price is a good value

Suzanne Hooker

I stay here so often I refer to it as my second home I work in the area a couple times a month, so I stay here overnight The staff is fabulous

The rooms are clean and comfortable They are dealing with the same shortages everyone is dealing with, and some of their brands are changing, but they’re still keeping things going well The breakfast is amazing They have the best bacon I’ve had at a hotel buffet anywhere, and the biscuits and sausage gravy are really GOOD Also, the cranberry juice mix is perfect I stay at a lot of hotels, and I’m always happy to come back hereAlso, if you’re on the odd numbered side of the hotel, you get a view of a lake and park, and it’s easy to forget how close you are to the Windy CityIf you go to Harmony Brewery (right next to the hotel) and show them your room key, you’ll get 15% off your meal, too

Jacky Chen

You can tell that they recently renovated this hotel The room we stayed in they need to cut down the door as you were not able to close the bathroom door Sort of inconvenient if you’re traveling with other people

Also the coffee maker did not work but they did replace that quickly The room was at 84 degrees and even when we turned off the heat and turned on the air conditioner it still was way too hot It was like a sauna You definitely can’t complain about it being too cold :)Having said all of that, if they correct these few problems then it’s a pretty nice place to stay The breakfast was decent and the hotel staff was very very nice Great customer service

My daughter and I absolutely loved staying at Hamlin House It’s in a perfect location for visiting The University of Chicago and Hyde Park I can’t say enough nice things about the house

It’s absolutely beautiful and our room was perfect It was beautifully decorated and updated, clean, and felt like home Caryl was also very nice and, her communication was great We will definitely stay here again when visiting our son at school

J Sweeney

The Hamlin House in Hyde Park is, by far, our favorite Bed and Breakfast in Chicago! It is everything we needed in a home-away-from-home, and more! From the moment you approach the home, in the safe and beautiful neighborhood just a couple short blocks from The University of Chicago campus, you feel at ease It’s a stunning, classic mansion, with spotless hardwood floors and bright natural light throughout the home Over the past couple of years, I have stayed in various rooms, the Green Room, Blue Room, etc

And, every single room was so beautiful and clean The owner, Caryl, is the most hospitable, kind, professional, and lovely host of any Bed and Breakfast we’ve stayed throughout the country She gives us all the privacy we need, and yet, she is so quick to respond to any of our questions and/or requestsIt is without any hesitation, that I would recommend The Hamlin House in Hyde Park to any family or friend looking for lodging in Chicago

Marilyn Moy

This is our second stay at Hamlin House and we are already booked again for the spring! The location is excellent ( bus to Midway Airport, Metra to downtown Chicago, and steps from the UChicago campus The rooms are a unique way to experience the famous architecture of Chicago They have all the amenities of home with plush white towels too! The breakfast of croissants or fresh scones and fresh OJ is delicious

Talking to the other guests is always a highlight of our stay Finally, Caryl and Philippe go out of their way to make sure our stay is comfortable! They are such kind and interesting people! If you’re lucky to have a room available when you book, you should definitely stay at Hamlin House!

Kalinda Preston

This charming hotel is definitely a gem located in the heart of downtown Homewood From the stylish decor to the swanky restaurant, I truly enjoyed my local getaway The only changes I would suggest would be upgrading the tvs to Smart Tvs for movie streaming, improving the morning breakfast selection and having a skeleton crew so that in room dining can occur at least until 11pm on weekends

Eric Smith

Excellent experience and stay! Part of our stay was an surprise to my wife They helped with the execution of the surprise and even gave advice! Beautiful hotel, exceptional clean (very important during this time), and superb staff! This place is a hidden gem for sure! Feel just like you’re downtown Chicago This is now my favorite hotel, perfect for a quick getaway, Excellent atmosphere and great restaurant in side hotel! Can’t wait to return! This review isn’t justice

These are the places we need to frequent to ensure they stay open! Thanks La Banque for an amazing experience and making me look great to my wife😁

Roberta Sweeper

It’s pricey but most boutique style hotels are especially around holidays or weekends Many different rules due to pandemic I’m guessing Like we couldn’t have a drink in the bar unless we had reservations when the bar and most of the restaurant were empty

No one seemed to know if we could order room service Luckily we had a family party and went early We noticed glass broken in a picture frame immediately entering the suite and the attendant on duty removed it in minutes We were in an accessible room which includes lots of grab bars and side floor area, there’s also braille on the door The tub however is a regular high side so someone can’t roll in or walk-in You could probably bring a slide seat though They include a dark wash cloth for makeup removal A nice coffee station with fridge, in room safe, robes, iron, dryer, etc Nice one time for mom to enjoy the holiday It’s right across from the Metra station and has ample free parking Many great restaurants in the area if you want something different like Red Bird

Robert Hulet

We had an excellent four night stay The people at the front desk were exceptionally friendly The room was very clean and once we figured out the parking, we were good to go

I think the person working the bell desk was having a bad day and was a little rude but everyone else including the man guarding the parking made this a 5 star experience Well done HyattPS: I like the World of Hyatt app too! It was great seeing when my room was ready at the next Hyatt Chicago hotel

Suzanne Feole

A little dated and when we checked in our room wasn’t ready yet at 5pm The towels could have been a better quality and the shampoo didn’t lather at all We went down to try to get the buffet that is extra but it was so busy we ended up at the market instead

I expected more for what we paid but overall it was nice We will find somewhere else next time

Nya

Once you remember your elevator assignment that’s half the battle I would also recommend valet parking Remembering where to turn to get into the garage was an issue the previous time I was here

Valet parking made it so much easier this timeIt was different with the mask mandate We really couldn’t do anything but the customer service was excellent especially in the valet and bellhop departments There was one person that was rude and could’ve provided more information but didn’t She really needs to adjust her attitude at the check in desk Until next time

Charles Gervasi

The hotel is okay, but it’s not that nice for a hotel attached to a convention center In our room the dishwasher and Internet did not work The door to the bathroom was a sliding closet door a few inches in front of an opening in the wall, with no latch or lock

The TV had a cable unplugged The room was large, but inefficient in use of space The pull-out bed worked but was on the cheaper side The main bed was okayThe staff were friendly and helpful The property itself is a cheap hotel The sign and lobby made it feel like it was going to be a nice mid-range hotel, but the room felt cheap

Braxton McNeill

The room smelled like smoke but was otherwise clean & nice! The location is excellent for the Convention Center Fatpours on the 1st floor is a nice sports bar & I had a good time there The continental breakfast was good & overall I had a very good day experience at Home2 Suites

I’d stay here again & would recommend it to anyone staying in Chicago for a few days

Anthony McCabe

Edited to give 3 stars, but the story stands And if it weren’t for the guest services manager, Ashley, I’d planned on canceling my reservation and moving to a different hotel, keeping this as 1 starI’ve been in the lobby for 75 minutes now because “they gave my room away”

I’ve been traveling for 11 hours 3 airports, 2 planes, 3 trains and a half mile walk to be waiting for a room to be ready for 75 minutes Anyone knows after a long day of traveling, sitting in the lobby is the last thing you want to be doing especially with 4 days of conference ahead of you with a $2000+ bill, to say I’m not impressed is an understatement If the actual stay wows me, maybe I’ll change my review, but this is really unacceptableThe rooms were nice, but the water pressure is laughably weak for $250-300/night

Wonderful service! Super friendly and helpful staff! Our room was clean and although the AC didn’t seem to work the greatest, we had a comfortable stay (I can’t speak for the other 3 rooms that my family were in) But the outdoor patio are that we occupied in the evening was very comfortable and cleanHotel staff was very accommodating to our rather loud family and I appreciate their kindness and understanding during our very difficult time

Erica Jones

Front desk clerk was very professional, rooms need to be updated to match the prices they are charging a night I have stayed at 2 other hotels in the area and both have better updates for the same price and offer a free continental breakfast The pool looked like particles were floating inside and the hallways were noisy at times

But the outer appearance looks great

Willeta Smith

I reserved the jacuzzi room the day before my stay and they decided to call me after check-in at 4pm Tammy told me that I couldn’t get that room because the jacuzzi wasn’t working and they couldn’t fix it They put me in a standard 2 queens room instead of the king bed

I asked to speak with the manager , which was Sharon the assistant manager She told me the same thing and that the pool wasn’t working either I found out that they put someone else in my jacuzzi room the same day and people were using the pool , too When I showed Sharon the pictures of the room and the pool being used, she said it must have gotten fixed after she left at 6pm I spoke with her about the room around 5 ish I really believed that it was discrimination She started getting irate and saying that it wasn’t I contacted Guest Services and they told me that Matthew would call me back, but he never did

After researching, my wife and I chose this hotel to stay 3 nights during our visit in Chicago last week We were happy we made the right choice Our room had an excellent city skyline view

The whole room was so clean as in its brand new condition The bed was comfortable We felt very safe as everyone had to use a room key to enter the building and function the elevator, while the front desk was just feet away from the door Location was excellent to us, right in the Chinatown and close to the train station This hotel definitely deserves a 5-star rating Only one thing I would suggest is the staffs at the front desk need a hospitality training Out of 3 staffs at the front desk we had encountered during our stay, only the one handled our check-out performed well They did their job well but they should greet the check-in guests and wear a bit friendly smile on their faces

Joshua A

All-in-all, not a bad hotel! With no surface or garage parking, it’s a free for all but luckily there is a public parking lot near the rail station for $16/day No breakfast, no pool, no frills – just a clean and quaint hotel lobby with clean and cozy rooms Two stairwells lead outside leaving the elevator as the only option to travel directly between the room floors and the lobby

Never felt unsafe in the location of this hotel

Zachery Gottshall

No parking, no pool, no breakfast The rooms are barely big enough to fit two tiny “queen” sized beds, with too few outlets and very little furniture One positive is that each floor has a dispenser with filtered water that you can get either ice cold or hot enough to make tea

That probably isn’t enough for you to chose Jaslin over a more standard chain hotel though Jaslin is fine and may be a good choice if the location is really convenient for you Otherwise, there’s probably a dozen better hotels in Chicago

We booked this hotel because it is dog friendly, and we have 2 I didn’t feel the friendliness, we were tolerated, not more And of course we had to pay a hefty cleaning fee

Our room was cleaned just once in our 8 nights stay, although we did tell them they can clean whenever, and just let us know so we’ll take the dogs outBreakfast was lame, the same basic ingredients everyday, and even them sometimes missingThe location though is excellent, and the air-conditioning was very affective It’s a bit over priced, but if spacious, refurbished rooms and location are what your looking for, It’s a very good option

Taylor Howard

I stayed here for a week for work and when I checked in they told me they would clean the room every third day However, they didn’t the whole time I was there, which is fine, but doesn’t seem worth the money and is one of the major reasons to stay at a hotel over Airbnb Otherwise, the breakfast was nice and offered great options but the coffee could have been better

Great service, great hotel The free breakfast bar was typical: scrambled eggs (not fresh made), 2 sides (ham slices, potato cake), Pre-made waffles, cereal, yogurt, berry compote, some bread options, oj and apple juice Clean rooms, great shower, comfortable beds

Love the neighborhood, lots of great food options in walking distance Great ice cream shop just across the streetWalk to the best science museum I’ve ever been to, absolutely massive, just the U-boat exhibit is worth the price of admission, and kids loved the rest 15 minute drive to downtownParking can be difficult, but not horrible Here are some tips For unloading, drive around the hotel and pull up the side street that wraps around the hotel There a surface parking lot across the corner from the hotel, $36 for 24 hours Also a deck behind the McDonald’s, same price But for overnight or Sunday parking, here’s the best option Find a street spot, 250 per hour, free after 8pm or 10 pm depending on the spot Paid again at 8am Sundays are free, so you can park Saturday night until Monday morning for free

I enjoy staying at this hotel when I come to town My room is always clean And the staff is friendly

I am not a fan of continental breakfast and the very first time that we stayed there it was very few options But as I stated I am not a continental breakfast kind of lady It’s mostly very quiet and it is conveniently located close enough to Illinois and a nice part of Indiana

Myself and two other co-workers booked three rooms at this property for a business trip The front desk staff was very friendly and accommodating The property has nice curb appeal, however, the furnishings, especially in the breakfast area are in desperate need of updating

The furniture is very well worn The cleanliness of the breakfast area wasn’t very good The tables were dirty at 3:00 PM and there was evidence of dirt on the carpets and under tables, etc We had one of the worst breakfast’s at a Hampton Inn, even worse than the covid bagged breakfast that were given out during the pandemic My room was clean and I had all of the amenities The bed was comfortable and the water pressure in the shower was good My co-workers room had a very smoky odor and he asked to be moved Management needs to spend some money updating the common areas and step up their breakfast game

Savvy Siren

Unimpressed Level of cleanliness was sketch Toilet was visibly dirty, so I had to give it a thorough cleaning myself using disposable gloves, Lysol and disinfectant wipes

Yuck Stains on entrances of doorways My fitted sheet was put on inside out and I saw a long hair in my bed There was also a hole in the ceiling over the sink I also saw a roach in my room Attention to detail was sorely lacking and this was an uncomfortable experience to say the least I had higher hopes, but this wasn’t it Would not stay again

This hotel is a bit of an oasis in an otherwise sketchy area The hotel is newer and clean The pool and gym are both nice for this level of hotel

They were definitely under-staffed during two of our recent visits, but still provided acceptable service A towel shortage was our only issue The warm breakfast options were pretty good Some advice: do not touch the dangling light fixture in the lobby area, they will get upset with you They have a small bar in the lobby, which is nice for those who enjoy that type of thing

I stayed one night The property was nice After returning home I received a call from the hotel wanting to charge me $150 for a single pillow case that a small amount of hair dye bled onto

After being told there was video footage of the entire bed full a linen being damaged (which was a BLATANT LIE) I asked could I come and view it NO RESPONSE After telling the person I don’t have $150 for a pillow case, and again asking if I could view the video, I was told to have a good day I really and truly believe this was nothing but racism at its finest I WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN, NOR WOULD I EVER RECOMMEND THAT ANYONE STAY THERE!

We used Springhill in Munster for a block of rooms for our event on July 9th We had a few rooms that we paid for for friends and family Rebekah Thompson made going throught the CC authorization process a breeze and took care of all of our needs and concerns! We had a few changes throughout the process and they were handled very professionally! I did not stay in any rooms, but all of our friends and family loved the hotel

I would 100% recommend this hotel if you are need blocks of rooms for any event you are planning You will not be disappointed!

Don’t forget to use ʜoᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏᴄᴏm when booking your hotel This site will compare countless booking websites and usually will have prices a lot cheaper compared to others! You’re welcome :)! This hotel is one of my favorites in this area

I’ve been staying here for years If you choose this place you for sure won’t be let downThe staff were all so friendly, helpful and accommodating The building itself is solid, I did not hear neighbors at all nor people in the hall It was very clean, our room was huge! Well decorated and updated The location is just a few blocks from public transportation We will stay here again

Rob

Very nice hotel with outdoor no cost parking The room was clean and comfortable Downside was that the restaurant operates on the weekends, you will not be able to buy beer when the restaurant is closed and they don’t have a soda machine on the premises

If there’s a dumpster on your side of the hotel, expect some noise about 4AMEnjoy your stayPlease like if this review helps

Pros: Free parking, friendly staff, and it’s close enough to attractions We couldn’t hear other rooms, which I was a bit worried about The staff was really great and made the experience worthwhile

Cons: It’s in a questionable area, rooms are a bit dated, and no microwaves in the rooms However… they do have microwaves in the business office, which is nice

This review was based off a one-day stay at this hotelPROS1 Located in a beautifully diverse Hyde Park 💕

2 Easy access to public transportation including bus and train 💕3 Train station nearby with great rail fanning opportunities 💕4 Walking and/or a short driving distance to a gas station, whole foods, and a few restaurants 💕5 Beautiful view of lake Michigan, but access to the walking path is not across from the hotel, but easy to get to via car/walking 💕6 Free coffee and breakfast if you are into prepackaged foodsCONS1 The room had a ‘rush to clean’ look’🤮2 The walls are very thin and you can hear people conversations around you😒3 The reviews about roaches being in some rooms are true as one was dead on the sink counter when we woke up🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮 (very hard to post, but I had to keep it real 💯)!The best part about this hotel is the diverse neighborhood that surrounds it! We will never stay at this hotel again even at the price I paid for it!Has so much potential to be even better, but they’re cutting corners approach is not going to help them reach it!

Lovely location Clean and not at all smelly I was slightly disappointed that there were no extra blankets 😕 Not sure how that works for the laundry washing if all ya have is just the right a amount

Other than that it was wonderful In a nice area and just a short walk to the trail by the lake Within waking distance of the Museum of Science and Industry

Adele Greenlee

Free parking in a covered ramp was a real plus The hotel lobby and rooms were not elaborate but were clean and adequate Many rooms have at least a partial view of Lake Michigan and Lake Shore Drive

Breakfast when we were there on a weekday was very limited, either packaged muffins or breakfast bars, (not both), apples (sometimes), and packages of instant oatmeal Although there were no restaurants right by the hotel, a half mile walk away is a neighborhood with a variety of interesting restaurants and shops, and it is just a short drive to several of Chicago’s most popular museums

Very poor experience I could barely work the shower because the handle kept falling off When we first got to the room the floor was wet by the tv

Not sure where the leak was coming from but the floor leak got even bigger and had to notify the desk multiple times And being the room was wet we’re getting bugs that attract water It took the front desk a day to come and we killed at least 8 bugs I would not recrecommend here

Alana Bridges

BED BUGS DIRTY ROOMS!!!!The first room they gave me was poorly cleaned it had some kind of big seeds all over it and smelled like old moldy mop water They moved me to another room which I noticed immediately that the dishwasher was broken They sent maintenance who didn’t properly fix it

Later i woke up to bites on my face and arm at which point I saw the bed bugs visibly crawling on the pillows and sheets I called the front desk which later noticed that the lock to the door wasn’t even properly working The night staff moved me to the hotel behind it and everything was supposed to get sorted out upon management arrival the next day I spoke to management she basically treated me as if it didn’t matter with no real resolution to the situation They were rude and smug about the entire situation Only offered me another room after two rooms was already disgusting As I stood there talking to management a front desk associate had to come from behind the desk to kill a huge bug crawling on the floor Mind you I was booked for like 9 days for work As a result No resolution I was unable to get the regional manager’s contact information and have to travel about 100 miles for training RUN RUN RUN!!
