My husband and I stayed at the Inn a couple of weeks ago for our anniversary, and were there for a week It was a nice, quiet place to go and get away for awhile Like others have posted, it’s not like a traditional hotel stay, but we really enjoyed that about this place

At night we could hear the frogs and waterfall, and it was pleasant to fall asleep toWe also participated in their Farm to Table experience, as well as having dinner with the chef The staff was very friendly, and the food experiences for me turned out fantastic I have several food allergies, and the staff that provided our meal experiences worked around my allergies It was so nice to be able to have food experiences where the staff worked around it and were very friendly about it!It was worth it to spend all that time at the Inn! Nice and quiet place, great view of a waterfall & grounds to walk around, very friendly & courteous staff, several experiences that you can do at the Inn, and overall a lot of fun!

Absolutely beautiful!!! Great service! Excellent staff! Aside from the obviously amazing setting, the breakfast was delicious and the masseuse (Brie) was fantastic Only drawback was the scheduling of a commercial shoot near the falls on the day we planned to explore them The area was off limits, so we didn’t have the chance to fully explore the grounds

It would have been nice to know that was going to happen, so we could’ve rearranged our schedule in advance But really a beautiful spot Will most definitely visit again

Mark Paul

Stayed in the cabins on our honeymoon and absolutely loved it Can’t wait to go back! The cabins were so cute, the shared space was incredibly well kept, and the farm and waterfall was as peaceful as it gets Staff were fantastic, and we were just sad we didn’t stay longer (we did 3 nights, could have done 4-5)

Stunning views and amazing animal sounds too!

Partner and I had great 5 nights at this ideally located B&B where you can hear the ocean surf at night (along with coqui frogs) enjoy lush landscaping, Richardson beach area sea turtles, snorkeling, and swimming straight out the front gate Room and bath is spacious and common area inviting with views of garden We had coconut palm room, i think other rooms as good or better

Would stay again

Claudia is just a wonderful host to spend time with and we could not have appreciated her hospitality any more! Hilo is such a great down to explore (Beaches, restaurants, shops, waterfalls, etc) We prefer staying in small hotels or B & B’s as opposed to the big boxes

For the trade off in amenities you get local, personalized care Our room was spacious and clean (Bamboo Room) along with our own little patio overlooking a little pond The beach is right across the street and downtown is a 10 minute ride Claudia makes a wonderful breakfast each AM and is just a wonderful person to get to know Thanks for everything! (Andy and Kim from Boston)

Allison Vanos

Claudia was a wonderful host She always had a great breakfast with home made muffins, fruit and a hot breakfast dish She was warm and friendly

The rooms were clean and very nicely decorated The location was the best! Beautiful Rainforest garden and an easy walk to the beach Claudia had umbrellas, and beach equipment for guests to use We will stay there again and highly recommend others to stay there tooThank you Claudia,Nancy & Troy

Me and my family stay at the hotel was great The workers were friendly and helpful The service was great

The hotel was pretty clean There were activities that my family could do ex: Bike riding, paddle boarding, lei making, a hula dance, board games to play, a lounge to relax and a clean pool There was also a $10 credit per day to spend at the little store in the lobby and free coffee The hotel had a nice view overlooking the ice pond which you can swim and paddle board There were turtles that would swim next to you The only downfall is that there was no elevator we stayed on the 3rd floor Other then that our stay was great i would recommend staying there

When we arrived to SCP we were greeted with a cute motel type facility The front desk staff was very polite and informative When we arrived to the room we discovered rodent feces in the bathroom and behind the bed which seemed very fresh

We then went back to the front desk to inform them and attempt to move into another room They were very helpful and empathetic but by that point we were already put off by our experience We kindly asked for a refund which they accommodated, we then booked another hotel down the street I would not recommend this hotel Good luck out there

This place is a gemI arrived yesterday and had a reservation at a different hotel Upon arrival at the other property, I was met with alarmingly sketchy appearances, rude staff and difficulties with them accepting payment

I am so glad and lucky to have decided to look elsewhere and stumbled upon this place I love the accommodations Clean, aesthetically pleasing, I love the open natural spaces inside Huge huge bonus to the ethically minded philosophies they donate to I am in love with this place, never want to leave If you are noise sensitive, know there are bird, airplane and people noises aplenty here I did see a roach but honestly when you see how much the rooms and the hotel are integrated with the natural surroundings, you should understand you can’t be 100% free of bugs Who would want that much poison in their environment? I will return here again and againPhotos are my room, view directly outside my room and the lobby

We were greeted by our host on arrival He walked us through the property with the various fruit trees to which we could help ourselves We stayed twice at this property and both of the rooms were very comfortable and clean

Lory provided delicious homemade breakfast (scones, muffins, banana bread, fresh fruits, smoothie, etc) to start off on our adventure every morningWe will definitely stay again when we go back to Hilo!

Karina Kisselite

Really enjoyed the breakfast – great baked items, fruits, smoothie, boiled egg Also was nice to chat with other guests during the breakfast on the terrace The yard was quite nice as well

The place is around 5 min drive to the city, we were able catch Ubers every time What was a bit inconvenient is that toilet was not super separate from the room, so you could hear everything Plus we could hear snoring of someone in the room nearby during the night

Chelsea Lee

The best place to stay on the rainy side of the Big Island Handmade breakfast and fruit right from their orchard on the property Beautiful bedrooms, and luxurious lush grounds to walk around

Right next to waterfalls and right above downtown and all of the beaches Hands down, the best experience you will have in Hilo town Family owned and run

We stayed here one or two weeks after the new owner bought this place The new owner is a vacation company, so they help you remotely Because it was during a transitional time, there were some confusion in the communication

The check in didn’t go very smooth However, despite some of the troubles, we loved this place so much! The room was comfortable The patio area is gorgeous The garden is well taken care of Great access to downtown Hilo It’s also located right next to the most popular surfing bay in the Hilo area There is no AC but you can sleep with your window and door open The sound of waves will help you sleep deeply

The reviews on trip advisor are more reflective of recent experiences … they all say just about the same thing I copied and pasted mine belowThis is not your classic bed and breakfast… more like air B and B Based on previous reviews, it seems there was a change in Management recently

They don’t serve breakfast, with Covid as an excuse which I can understand But if you are going to do a prepacked breakfast at least put decent granola bars, yogurt, fresh fruit Everything was the cheapest quality food Their bread looked like one of those packed breads at Walmart The coffee grounds were not good and tasted like the cheapest coffee from Walmart … which in hawaii I would expect only amazing kona coffee If I worked at a bed and breakfast, and had to do prepacked meals I would at least make overnight oats or something that seems more homemade! Breakfast was very disappointing and not appetizing They also did not refill the eggs my husband ate our second nightsThere was an odd stench in our kitchen like as if food was stuck in cracks Also food from the previous tenets was left in the sinkThere was hair in bathroom from previous tenetsSome fruit fliesParking lot was a little difficult to fit inOnly pro was the ocean view and sunrisesI wish we could have stayed when the old owners were there

Sourov De

The B&B owners Maria and Ricardo are fantastic They made us feel welcome and comfortable Our room, the Pele suite, was exactly the way it looked in the pictures online

The view of the water was awesome! Very comfortable bed We loved the food served at breakfast Each morning, Maria and Ricardo would make sure we’re pointed in the right direction with suggestions of things to do and the best way to get to things My wife and I highly recommend staying here!

This was one of the worst hotel experiences I ever had First, they tell you at check in to leave dirty towels and trash in plastic bags out in the hallway Staff was not to go and service rooms because of their Covid protocol

How could leaving soiled laundry and trash in the hallways be any more safe than leaving it in the rooms for pickup? Our bed was never made Shampoo and soap was never replenished We had to go chase people down in the lobby to get simple supplies each day Total inconvenience and to top it off, i was expected to pay the full room rate while i was doing their job Second, the restaurant was extremely overpriced and the quality of the food was worse than a bad fast food joint The rib eye was the worst cut you could get It was dry, fatty and full of gristle The wait staff went through the motions You had to ask for everything from more water to salt and pepper Finally the only upside to our stay was they provided a water bottle and a refill station outside the lobby entrance No other refill stations were available on any of the floors so if you needed to refill your bottle, you had to go to the lobbyI’m sure this is place is better during normal times, but if they have fear over servicing their guests because of Covid, they should close the hotel until they feel safe Until then, expect less than adequate service

Troy Song

Pro:Location and view One of the best view in Hilo bay apart from Hilton besides it Near to coconut island, Japanese garden and Hilo bay

Con:Old AC is struggling to get room cooled down and it’s really loud We ended up keeping the lanai door open through our our stayThey don’t do regular house keeping…due to their Covid policy etc so expect to save your towels/daily use expendables regularly and place your trash bin outside of your room if it’s full and call front desk for anything neededOverall okish experience

Steve Smith

Good size rooms with plenty of space for four guests ,The cafe has great food and the restaurant is really good for a more up market eating experienceThere’s a great grocery store just outside the front door which has everything you need

The location is perfect to walk to downtown to go to shops and restaurants The frogs are a bit loud, but the view makes up for it You are literally right next to the water The room was beautiful, clean, and comfortable We would definitely visit again Mahalo!!!

If you are traveling to stay in the beautiful town of Hilo, I highly recommend staying at the Hilo Bay Oceanfront Bed and Breakfast! My long stay at this beautiful seafront B&B was one of the best I have ever had The location is perfect, close to the Hilo airport and just a mile or so from town This big gorgeous home is very comfortable and clean, and the very friendly owners and staff do a great job of making you feel at home

The rooms are cozy and the decor is classy I recommend staying in a room with an ocean view You fall asleep to the relaxing sound of crashing waves and get a cool breeze from the ocean, then wake up to a stunning view and the aroma of bacon cooking in the kitchen One of my favorite parts of my stay was the delicious breakfast each morning You get to sit down to a gorgeous view of Hilo Bay while you are offered coffee or a cold juice and a beautifully arranged plate of Hawaiian fruits The incredibly friendly and accommodating staff then offers you a large range of hot breakfast dishes, my ultimate favorite being the toasted coconut and macadamia nut pancakes The owners and staff are always willing to help you with anything you may need, which really gives you the feeling of being taken care of All in all, stay at the Hilo Bay Oceanfront B&B if you are looking for a comfortable, relaxing and home-like atmosphere on your next trip to Hilo
