What a gem! First time at a Valley Hotel, love what Hilton has done w/the brand Valet service was convenient & Rachel H made check-in a breeze Accommodated my high floor request without hesitation & was thrilled with her room choice

Thanks Rachel!Room had floor to ceiling windows, corner view & the bed was very comfortable Still has new hotel smell! The restaurant was very good, breakfast was excellent There’s also loads of dining options right outside (Highly recommend the Little Donkey Mexican just 2-doors down!)If only there was a pool…Highly recommend staying here!

We had one of our nieces’ wedding rehearsal dinner there and many of her future in-laws and friends were staying thereAfter the rehearsal dinner, some of us decided to go down to the lobby on the first floor to sit and talkWe were not particularly being loud or obnoxious or anything

Just sitting at a hotel lounge and having conversations just like hotel guests would do Then the lady at the front desk yelled at us as if we were her students and she’s our teacher, saying that we were being too loud and that we need to quiet down because she can’t hear customers on the phoneWe didn’t say anything the first time and tried to talk little quieter Then, after about 10 minutes, the lady yelled at us again saying that we were being too loud Once again, we were not particularly being loud or obnoxious at all Just having some conversationsI just never had that kind of experience at any hotels anywhere – a front desk clerk telling (yelling at) guests to quiet down at the lobby I mean isn’t that what hotel lobby is for? For guests to sit and have conversations? Then, I tried to talk to her to see what is going on but she would not talk to me by saying that she’s too busy talking to her customers on the phoneI tried to politely ask her who’s the manager on duty is but she would not give me his/her name or the contact information – I guess I can look it up myselfBy then, we all decided that it’s not worth it and just went up to our roomsI asked her name but she kept on waving her finger while she’s talking to someone on the phone and walking away from me She was hiding her name tag with her arm so I couldn’t see her name eitherIt’s probably one of the most unpleasant experiences we’ve ever had staying at a hotelI actually don’t want to give any stars at allThe management needs to train the employees better Where is the customer service We were not there to serve them It’s the other way aroundDo not stay at this hotel

Richard M

Had dinner at the restaurant off the lobby called Ironwood kitchen Food was just ok, nothing special but the cost was extremely high for the meal Three of us with no alcohol, ran $200

00 The service was adequate Save your money as there are so many better restaurants for dinner in the area Stop there at the bar for drinks as that did look inviting

Clean and update rooms Staff is extremely friendly and kept asking if everything was to my satisfaction This was both at night during checkin and in the morning during checkout

A pleasure to deal with and would happily stay here again Would never stay down the street at the 2 Hilton brand hotels that was the worst experience of my life and only made better by how sweet and nice the staff here was Hotel was honestly cleaner and nicer as well

Joshua Johanning

It’s “okay” But I wouldn’t recommend the hotel as a Platinum/Titanium if you want hotel breakfast (or anyone else who might want to pay for it)The room was fine along with the internet

I thought my room felt a little damp with the wall AC not working as well, but it was livableMy two biggest complaints:- no breakfast first 2 days of my stay because the person hadn’t arrived – instead of using my $10 for a heated up breakfast sandwich I had to spend it on snacks I didn’t need- billed for breakfast when breakfast was open even though I had my $10 daily creditFollow-ups on requested items didn’t happen It’s okay, but perhaps try elsewhere

tom kandler

Completely dissatisfied My room was overpriced and dirty Hotels are saying they don’t do daily cleaning because it is taking longer when guests check out to ‘completely clean’ the rooms

Weren’t they doing that prior to COVID? They are also using the same excuse for not having complimentary coffee in the lobby, but they have put in mini coffee shops that you have to pay for I’ve learned my lesson and will look on AirBnB next time

The biggest thing to know is no onsite parking without using their valet service We opted for free street parking and just had to walk which was only inconvenient when bringing our things to the hotel

The hotel itself is staffed with really nice folks The bartender was charismatic and we greatly enjoyed talking to him while enjoying drinks The room itself was very cozy and clean and we over all loved the stay I can’t give 5 stars because there’s not a mini fridge or a microwave in the room That made eating and storing left overs and stuff impossible I would give it 5 stars if those things were added though Perfectly located downtown we walked to a lot of great places with ease

Erin Zulfer

I stayed for 2 weeks for work and I met I think almost everyone at the desk and valet services outside, couldn’t ask for a better group of people Lee, and Harley(I believe his name was) were outside most of time when I was in and out of the hotel, super nice and were able to tell me about the parking situation besides the valet Quentin was behind the bar and was able to recommend tons of cool things to do and makes absolutely incredible cocktails

It did not originally have a mini fridge in the room but I asked the front desk and they were able to send one Cleaning staff was great as wel, thank you so much

Ashley Smith

Very disappointed in my first stay at Kelly Front desk staff were eating food at the desk when I stopped by, had no change for the valet and in general appeared apathetic to guests I had a king room that smelled like mildew

Additionally the nightstand and desk had a liquid on it that I had to wipe off with a towel The linens felt like they had not been washed and gross! And lastly – $35 A DAY for valet – are they high? You don’t pay this in New York City This bones of hotel are stunning yet they need to fix a few basics in cleanliness, customer service and hotel guest basics

The people were very friendly I really liked the front desk staff However, housekeeping never came once when I was there all week, not even to empty the trash cans or give fresh towels

The gym was a joke, half the dumbbells were missing, there were zero mats, etc The room was just ok It’s my understanding there is renovation going on, so some of these issues may be resolved in the future, but if they are under renovation, they should have discounted their rates to reflect that

Robert Deguzman

My mini fridge didn’t work, had no cable in my room, and yes I brought it up to the front desk clerk, maintenance will take care of that as soon as they get in, guess what after spending a whole day training with my company and then we all went out to dinner pretty much didn’t get back to the hotel till about 10:00 maybe close to 11:00 and guess what everybody everything was still broke and my room wasn’t even made the towels that I used for the floor after taking a shower we’re still there The three stars I gave was because it is generally and nice looking hotel but when it comes to issues with hotel guests I do believe they should be a priority because a happy guess as a returning guest am I right I think I amOh and just in case the room that nobody came to fix is 232 but don’t take my word for it come experience it for yourself

Anna May

I will never stay at Aloft in Soho Square ever again My family used them for a hotel block for my wedding this past weekend The service was AWFUL!!! We did not receive the correct rooms we paid for, Kelsey (with marketing and heads up all communication) never returned a single phone call or email regarding booking the conference room space, the bartender did not even know how to make a vodka tonic, and if you speak with Shannon at the front desk she will probably make you cry with her impolite attitude, her eye rolls, and sassy remarks

I wouldn’t want anyone to experience the horrible service we received on the most exciting/special weekends of our lives

This was such a nice stay The room was perfectly-sized, everything was crisp and clean, and the folks who saw us in and out were very nice I know a Jeff was working the night shift and I apologize for not knowing the lady’s name this morning at 5:30am but she and Jeff were both wonderful! I would give this hotel 10 stars if possible and I am PICKY when it comes to hotels

Even the elevators had cute little sayings, which I feel was a nice touch (I’m posting a pic of one that made me smile) Thank you for a wonderful stay, Sonesta!

We loved the hotel so much, we stayed here again on our drive back home We were traveling from the Midwest to the East Coast and had planned on stopping in a smaller town, but their outdoor pools didn’t open until Labor Day and we had promised our kids they could swim when we reached the hotel So I researched some hotels in Birmingham and one of the reviews suggested going to The Summit area

We are so thankful for that review! This hotel was extremely clean, the staff was excellent, the pool was clean and the beds and linens were so comfortable The young man that worked the front desk (he appeared to be in his 20s; has a birthday coming up or recently celebrated it) was friendly, helpful, and made us feel completely welcome and at home We were going to try to drive farther down the road on our return trip home, but we felt like we didn’t want to try to find another hotel as good as this one, so we stayed here again and were so thankful It was a good price, too And great location! We enjoyed the nearby restaurants (We recommend Mooyah for burgers, Seasons52 for a special occasion, and Big Spoon Creamery for a delicious treat!) We left before breakfast both times, so we can’t attest to that But we also used the water bottle station in the workout room and noticed they have complimentary headphones for your workout if you forgot yours- super cool Also, the shampoo, soap and conditioner are fancier than we typically use- definitely a treat 😉

Anna Greenhill

I am very picky about hotels, especially now that a lot of them are unfortunately short staffed This hotel was very clean, the customer service was great, and all of the guests seemed happy Our room was very clean and stocked with towels, shampoo, conditioner and body wash

The complimentary breakfast was good as well 10/10 would recommend and/or book again

Jared Stump

One of the nicest Fairfield properties I’ve stayed at! Brand new and everything is top notch I stayed in a king suite, which was very spacious The furniture was beautiful and it felt like I was in someone’s home, not a hotel

The hotel gym was also very spacious and the equipment was nice and new I would go out of my way to stay here again

Overall stay was pretty good The A/C in the room could have been a little more cooler it was kind of muggy The bar was great, the bartenders were friendly especially the woman on the weekend with the darker hair didn’t get her name

The breakfast was amazing 😊 The breakfast staff are great and heartwarming ❤️, especially Lisa, Loretta and Jen They always gave great service and did a great job taking care of the breakfast buffet Thank you 🙏

Ralph Andrada

The staff here is very polite and welcomingThe breakfast is very good with an excellent varietyRoom I was in is clean, spacious and very welcoming

Has that nice traditional hotel feel that I loveSo far in my life I’ve never had a bad experience with a Hilton HotelIf I’m in Birmingham again, I will come stay here again with no hesitation

A.D. Moulton

Stayed here for a weekend with my family in 2 separate double rooms Staff was friendly and accommodating Breakfast buffet was nice although about $17 per person, with the buffet you have people still serving you drinks (coffee and water) so I’m sure a large portion of that is the convenience fee

My room was clean, had a small issue in my bathroom the first night, hotel resolved within about 10 minutes Would recommend! Tons of really nice restaurants around as well

I have been employed with Hilton in the past and have enjoyed working dual property Hampton’s in Tuscaloosa, AL for 3 years I applied for the Night Auditor position the last week in Feb and was hired on 02/23/22 (terminated on 04/29/2022)

The Assistant General Manager, Marcus Gordon, called me at 9:00 pm on a Sunday evening to schedule an interview That was the first red flag but I needed employment so I did not make it a huge deal I was employed at this property for 90 days before being wrongfully terminated The General Manager, Karen Jacob, fired me about 30 minutes shy of 3:00pm after working a night audit shift that morning The management team at this property is defective and below par to say the least There is no communication between the team members and management and it shows In the 3 months that I was hired here not 1 of the employees from any department had ANYTHING nice to say about Karen There has been multiple accusations of stealing of money by management and maintenance from numerous staff members I experienced 3 different encounters of theft of my personal items while being employed at this location The GM does not directly deal with confrontation, she doesn’t come out of her office and will literally, deliberately ignore guests concerns and allow her phone to ring with no intentions of answering The management team at this property portrays a facade of concern and compassion for their team members but that is most certainly not the case Marcus, the assistant GM, faithfully gossips about team members and constantly makes jokes about terminating members of the staff I would never in a million years recommend working at this property to my worst enemy If I could leave anything lower than 1 star I would leave the rating in the negative

Belinda Forman

The room was very clean I was disappointed that they didn’t serve a free breakfast and they didn’t offer coffee in the lobby throughout the day The coffee maker in the room did not work but then when I was able to pour water through it it was nasty

It was like dirty and nastyThat was very comfortable The room was very nice I would stay here again anytime

Dawn Swinford

999% of the employees were super friendly and nice Wasn’t too excited about the waitress, but she was they only one, and was quite busy, so I understood and won’t complain

The waffle I ordered was undercooked, but again, I didn’t complain Was disappointed that there was no continental breakfastThere was no hand soap of any kind in our bathroom Wasn’t happy about thatWhen checking out, my husband had a couple minor complaints about not having enough towels or pillows The lady at the desk said that they didn’t realize that there was more than 1 guest in that room, since there was only 1 name on the card Uhm WHAT? Really? When I made the reservation, I specifically said it was for 3 adults and 1 child That’s why I had to pay extra More people Overall, not really happy I expected more from the name Hilton It was ok But still everyone was super nice and friendly and helpful

Really disappointed in our experience staying at this Marriott location recently Our single night stay was extremely overpriced for such a poorly maintained property There was only one working elevator and access to stairs was not at all clearly marked

The AC in our room barely worked We had a bare minimum amount of towels provided to the room, and those that were provided were threadbare Although we booked a room with a King bed and a sofa sleeper, we were not provided any sheets, pillows, or other bedding for the sofa sleeper and had to retrieve these items from the front desk ourselves late at night once discovered (We were still unable to obtain additional pillows – so 3 pillows between 3 of us across the king and sofa beds) – and when the sofa sleeper was opened in our room, it actually blocked the room door from being openedSnacks from the lobby pantry were all stale and gross Breakfast, although included, did not offer many options and was poorly serviced/stocked The only trashcan available during breakfast time was overflowing and in the 20-30 mins we were in the dining area, no one attended to it – despite the empty trash bags that were laying on the floor around itParking is validated, but the recommended parking deck doesn’t feel safe, maintained, or properly staffed When we were parked in front of the hotel unloading to check in, there was a man knocking on our vehicle windows panhandling for changeThe staff were mostly friendly and helpful, but they didn’t seem knowledgeable about Marriott’s elite loyalty programs and related offersWhile we love Marriott hotels, we won’t be staying at this location again – and we wouldn’t recommend it to anyone else either in its current state

Fred Miller

Love this place! We used to hop around hotels in the area and now we only stay hereCentrally located in perhaps the most pedestrian part of Birmingham You can get to the airport, watch a Baron/USFL/NBA D-League game, have a nice dinner and take the family to Railroad Park all within a 10 minute walk or drive

The other part I love and perhaps I should have mention first is the staff Be prepared being greeted with a smile and “how you doing?” by everyone on staff It’s a nice adjustment if you’re a frequent traveler Mr Curtis and Frankie are always pleasant to see…probably because the kids love themI left valuable items by accident once and the GM personally handed them to me as soon as I walked in I’ve been to this hotel before but it just feels different lately…in a positive way I know my kids would vouch for that I’d love it even more if they added a kitchen and bar!! 😍

Kimberly Bollman

I will say the lobby makes you feel relaxed right away Parking is easy Good downtown location

But we never made it thru the check in process We made the reservation online at their website We chose the prepay option to get a discount When we arrived, our reservation showed up but the payment did not Long story short, we ended up going home because we couldn’t pay for the same reservation again Especially not at the full rate

My stay here was pleasant The staff is very matter of fact and no non sense You ask for information and they will provide you with the information when it is available

I only stayed here one night in a double queen room The view was nice I had to shove the door open when coming in but the room was clean and comfy Nothing impressive but all the amenities were accurate and the room was cleaned Breakfast is nothing fancy but I enjoyed the waffles The gym has disinfectant wipes, towels and filtered water If you need something basic and to the point, this is your place

Anthony Johnson

Stayed here for the last two nights and there is a lot to like about this place Beautiful architecture, nice rooms and great location Could have easily given them 4 stars but their front desk personnel had attitudes and in some cases were plain rude

I’m a lifetime Diamond Hilton Honors member and there is a fine line between being a good hotel versus being a great hotel And until the Owners and Management of this hotel require warm customer service this place will always be just a “good” hotel

Barney Moore

Don’t get it twisted, this hotel is not worth your money Clogged drains, cracked sink, cracked toilet, no refrigerator, AC wasn’t working right, very tiny rooms I travel all over the country for work and this was absolutely the smallest hotel room I’ve ever stayed in

Street parking is a pain, not the safest area at night either I found the hotel staff to be kinda rude in general Nothing about this hotel feels historic except maybe the view from the street They serve breakfast on the top floor, so I went up there at 7am and it was 80 degrees in that damn room It’s basically the same terrible breakfast as any other Hampton Inn, but add 10 degrees to the ambient temperature No cold milk or cream at the coffee station, no milk in the fridge, and no fridge in the rooms either Good luck if you stay here I booked 3 nights and dipped out early just to get away from it My best guess is they don’t have the money or staff to properly service the place, but if you’re gonna charge $180/night you better get your act together Beds are so squishy the sheets come popping off Congrats, you’re the worst hotel I’ve been to in 37 nights at Hilton brand hotels in the past few months Now comes the hard part, put some money into this place and make it right Historic shouldn’t mean run-down

We have currently been staying at this hotel for a few nights for my husband’s work The rooms are very clean, spacious and comfortable Full size fridge, dishwasher (did use), microwave, coffee maker and a few dishes

Bed is comfortable, pillows are too soft for me but I bring mine with me Hotel is very nice and all the staff I have encountered have been super polite and helpful I personally would recommend this hotel Parking lot and area felt safe also

Josh Reimann

We love Home2 Suites, especially for larger families like ours Very spacious and very clean rooms! This specific Home2 though had thin walls as we could hear a person next door talking on the phone Our room was pretty hot throughout the night, even though we had the fan on high and the thermostat on 67

I didn’t take a star off for that because it could’ve been user error 😉 Beautiful pool and great breakfast

Keda C

Good experience overall Hotel is located near lots of restaurants and stores including a Target! Rooms are spacious and have everything you need including a garbage disposal I needed a pet friendly hotel and this one was the best option

They even have an outdoor area for pets with complimentary poop bags However, the garbage can was overflowing with poop baggies and hadn’t been emptied during my four day stay I also wished other guests would clean up after their dog as there was quite a bit of poop in their grass play area! Besides that, it was a lovely stay Would recommend!

Very nice hotel and staff Very clean, rooms are very spacious A word of warning though and only reason I didn’t give 5 stars – if you’re someone with long hair plan on an extra hour or two to get ready if you’re showering

The water pressure of the shower is super weak, it’s like a trickle If you have long hair it will take about an hour or two to rinse the shampoo/conditioner out of your hair

Kris Macchiarola

This hotel accommodates pets (which I did not know) The hotel should have designated rooms for people with pets vs people without

My room smelled like animals and triggered my allergies immediately The staff did their best to improve my experience, but it wasn’t enough because every time I went back to the hotel, my symptoms would worsen

Jessica Modic

My husband and I stayed here for 4 months, so we know ALL the details The staff is amazing! They truly go above and beyond to make sure you have everything you need to make it feel like home Yonas brought all of my packages to my room, Nick always grabbed my garbage and towels outside my door, Desiree made sure the housekeepers even used my non toxic cleaning products! Larry made sure anything I needed fixed got taken care of and Niemah (prob spell wrong) is top notch in taking care of all hospitality services! So blessed to stay with this crew and we are sad to leave!

The stay wasn’t bad The staff was friendly The breakfast was alright

The hotel needs some updating, hence the 4 out of 5My phone call to book the room was the most horrible experience ever I think they use a third party, at least for when they’re busy If this review was only based on that, I would give it zero stars When I was done w the phone call I was angry and exhausted They took 15 minutes and kept trying to get me to sign up for a bunch of things Plus they were super pushy and when I asked how much the room rate was she made me listen to a whole spiel for 7 minutes before she would give me the price I can’t explain it, you just have to call at a busy time and see for yourself

Read the reviews prior to booking THEY ARE LIES Do NOT book this hotel

1 The room door handle came off in our hand2 The air conditioner leaked all over the floor (3rd floor) Yes The floor under the air conditioner was saturated and we witnessed water dripping down the cord We worried about mold3 Dirty bedspread and holes in the blankets4 The hallway carpets are FILTHY5 The room, hallway, and elevator smelled like smoke6 Mold in the ice machine Obviously we did not useThe kicker was…when we nicely went back to the desk and asked for a different room and listed off the issues the owner was summonsed and stated before we could be given another room she had to see how much of the room we had used WE HAD JUST CHECKED IN!We did not have time to change hotels as we only had one half hour to spare until we were due at the Miss Alabama competitionSeriously Save yourself Do NOT book this hotel

Breakfast selection was excellent Normally hotel breakfast is difficult for those of us with food allergies, but the Drury hotel offers so many options that I was able to have a great breakfast In the room, my two favorite things were the pillows (soft, but supportive) and an awesome shower

Love the angle of the shower head as well as the water pressure Indoor/outdoor pool and hot tub was enjoyed by many guests Next time, I’m bringing my suit! This hotel checks off all of my must-haves for a hotel and at an affordable rate

The entire staff was was friendly and welcoming The General Manager, Melanie, loves her job, and it was obvious that she loves the Hospitality Industry She made us feel so Welcome

The food was good, and we enjoyed talking with several people that we met We will definitely visit again We are locals who were getting a new roof on our home and decided to take a 2 day break while roofers were there Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

We had a great stay Mattresses were actually comfortable and pillows were nice and fluffy We did not partake in the dinner and drinks provided but we did do the hot breakfast and we were quite impressed with the selection

Because the indoor pool was connected to the outdoor pool, the indoor pool was a bit chillyOverall, we had a fantastic stay and would recommend!

This is a very nice hotel I travel all over the country for work, so I’m constantly in different hotels, and this is definitely one of the better ones I’ve been in The rooms are very nice, comfortable, and kept very clean

The whole hotel is very nice and clean The staff are superbly kind and helpful, and will go out of their way to accommodate you The free breakfasts and dinners are great too It’s not fine dining, but it’s free and tasty, what more could you want? And the complimentary 3 drinks a night is a very nice touch, I always enjoyed myself at dinner

Make sure to use Hᴏᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏᴄᴏm when booking your hotel This web site will compare countless booking websites and typically will have rooms much cheaper than others! You’re welcome :)! This resort is the best rated in this area

I’ve been coming here for a long time If you stay for a few days you definitely will love it I’m sure!Absolutely loved staying here Lovely warm welcome We had a suite and it was fantastic, rooms were big and had everything we needed to feel comfortable Complimentary food and 3 free drinks each Would definitely stay here again

The people that work here are so so nice and friendly They’re happy to help if you need anything Definitely made our stay that much better

While the rooms could use updating (replace chairs, & carpeting) the rooms, beds, and bathroom was spotless The beds were very comfortable I was so thankful to have a very clean room The shower has a wall hanging pump for body wash, shampoo and soap which was nice as well as a blow dryer Mini fridge and microwave inside the dresser furniture piece A good hot breakfast & dinner buffet, 3 alcoholic beverages included during the dinner, & there’s fountain sodas I don’t drink but they were so nice to make us virgin margaritas and it doesn’t count against your 3 drinks card Pop corn wasn’t good and didn’t have any butter or flavor, would be great if they could get some buttery popcorn for the next visit The hot tub has some powerful jets which felt good, and a large swimming pool that goes from inside to outside There’s a pool towel area inside to quickly grab a towel I felt very safe staying here, it’s a nice area We will definitely be back when visiting the area again

One of the most beautiful upscale hotels that I have ever stayed I needed a quiet get away, which was perfect However, the rooftop bar and the restaurant is great for a great time

So has the best of both worlds Dominique was so caring I was thankful for her hospitality All the front desk reps were great, even when i needed something in the middle of the night Valet had a staff issue, the lot is next to the hotel which made it easy for me to just get and park my car Overall it was an amazing experience Thankful I chose to stay there

Pros: Very nice hotel in downtown Birmingham My wife and I went for a “stay-cation” and definitely worth it with The Yard restaurant on site for dinner and brunch Highly recommend the somewhat eclectic rooms, and nice views!Cons: The only downside is that some of the in room amenities were not 100%

One of the shower heads looked like it would fall off any minute, the shower gel was empty, and housekeeping came by an hour before checkout asking if we had checked out so she could clean We heard her in the hallway knocking on the other doors as well

The Place is Beautiful and has a very eclectic and high end feel Really Posh But, this is a place where it is Form/Design over function

Valet Staff is Awesome and very helpfulThe Front desk staff (evening and morning both) seemed a little put-out/annoyed by our arrival and questions, but the Valet team was helpfulThis is a place where form trumps functionThe rooms are tiny, halls are tiny (luggage carts barely fit through the halls or in the rooms) luggage carts are rickety and barely holding togetherThe Rooms are beautiful and eclectic (which is why we chose it), but this form has take precedent over function It is not meant for FamiliesThe Toilet Room door and shower doors are opaque green/yellow glass and do not seal, do not have fans, are hot as hell, and full conversations can be had, hands can be held while using both ie: lacks a sense of privacyThe toilet room might as well be called a sauna because it was as hot as onenot a place where you want to start sweating just walking in The listing was weird and again, not meant for function, but rather formForm/decor was nice, but it lacked some much function, It will not be a place we stay at next time we are in townAlso, the bar/restaurant is not open on Sunday, almost the entire downtown area is closed, so definitely do not recommend a Sunday stay in Birmingham Downtown
