We had the absolute best stay! We were on a whirlwind college tour and loved our stay at the Tartan Fox Furnishings were beautiful Food was AMAZING

And we left feeling like we had just visited our favorite family I don’t know when we might next be up in that neck of the woods, but we would go back just for the Tartan Fox! What a wonderful place and the most lovely folks!

Convenient parking and next door to the Co-op! Bed was very comfortable and tub was deep Loved the historical details and the phonograph/records to play in the room I understood this was not going to be a big box hotel stay – which is where I used to stay out on busy (and ugly) Putney Road for previous business trips

I enjoyed the privacy and spacious room at the Latchis My second floor room faced Flat Street which is a side street The street noise is something to consider if that would bother you I will definitely stay here again when I return for business

Sydney Horan

We had an awesome weekend at Latchis Hotel! It’s in such a cool location right in the heart of Brattleboro, the artistic/theater feel of the hotel was so unique, and the rooms are very comfortable and well-styled Plenty of in-room amenities, large mini fridge, microwave, lots of seating Check in/out was simple and easy, stopping by the desk was not required as we called ahead

One thing was it was the only hotel I’ve stayed at in the past 2 years (out of around 25) that did not serve coffee, but The Works cafe was around the corner and served that purpose wonderfully!

Alice Volkov

Wonderful stay! I can’t believe how comfortable the bed was, how walkable the location, and that there were working record players in the rooms! The only drawback was parking- the hotel lot was full, so we had to park in the municipal lot next door and stumble down at 8:30 to move the car/pay the meter Aside from that, it was a wonderful stay in a great location, we will definitely be back

We ended up using the Holiday Inn Express, for our guests to our 100 person wedding We had the unfortunate situation of working with an employee who was working during their two weeks notice, which caused us to not have a written contract with the hotel chain We fortunately were able to get a discount code generated for 25 rooms

Overall, this was a pretty stressful situation, which caused many guests to not be able to get rooms with our preferred rate, after the initial 25 rooms were bookedThat being said, the staff at the front desk, and particularly Alice who is a manager for the hotels around the area, we’re very sympathetic and helpful in trying to resolve the situation I truthfully believe that if we had worked with a different individual during our initial correspondence, we would have had zero issues I would use them again in the future, but I’d be sure to have something written and signed before proceeding Our guests also had very nice stays, and were impressed both with the cleanliness and the better than expected breakfast!

Need to advise future customers Older hotel Pillows are old and stained(very yellow)As if a 100 plus sweaty heads slept on it

I mean super yellow water marks It had such an Awful smell(BO)The room had a musty-mildew smell The AC made the smell worst There is carpet underneath the bathroom sink The room needs a major renovation The lobby is the only section updated/renovated Changed hotels after a nights stay

Jae-Woo Choi

Hotel could use some improvements1 Insulation is very thin

You can hear kids running around in the hallways all day and night2 There is no hot water And it’s not clear when it will be restored Looking at other reviews, it seems to be a common occurrence

Was very pleased to see the good looking room but not the cleanest room Stayed two nights and then the morning of check out then horrific noise in the room next door was incredibly loud and after pounding on the way and yelling at the top of my lungs, nothing, nothing changed This went on from about 9:50 am until just before leaving about 11:10 am

Then the noise was completely over The maintenance didn’t have to do this work while I was still in my paid room, because it only happened while I was still there Tried to get some explanation from the two desk workers but was only brushed off and told me that it was just maintenance and that they were sorry??? I’ll never return and also tell anybody, that this place was not up to standard I’m now living in Vermont and now have family in Putney Too bad for me as I was anticipating returning often for family visits I’ll have to find something else Peter Hamlin

Great rooms at an amazing rate!Owners are very nice and welcoming The rooms are large and modern with a mini fridge, microwave and large flat screen TV The outside is a little dated but the interior more than makes up for it

For the price you really cannot get any better in the area! I cannot emphasize that enough There is a modest continental breakfast; cereal, bagels, toast, yogurt, fruit, coffee, juice There is no longer a restaurant on site However, the Putney Food Co-op is right down the road and Exit 3 Brattleboro off 91 is less than a ten minute drive and has multiple fast food and casual dining restaurants, as well as a Hannaford Supermarket I will be staying here for a week and will update once I see more of the property as I’ve heard there are walking trails and such Parking is behind the motel, so while it looks empty from the front parking lot where the office is located it most likely is not Again for the $ value I doubt you’d find a nicer motel in most any area really

My wife and I spent a week at the cottages June 9th through June 16th We stayed in the Honeymoon cabin It was clean when we arrived and we loved everything about this property

The cabin is very small, but we knew that when we booked the room The property caretaker Freddy was very helpful, even suggesting a couple of attractions we might want to visit It was a great place to visit and we look forward to a return trip sometime in the near future!!

Honestly a clean, comfortable hotel with great staff Check in was super smooth Only downside was they were actually still cleaning our room so we had to wait a little bit but at least I can say without a doubt my room was immaculate

The evening/night staff, super polite and friendly Every time I left or came in they were there to say hello or goodbye and offer information on the local area and food options In past experiences with hotels the night staff is very anti people for one reason or another But that definitely was not the case here The nice young gentleman, was very helpful and always keeping busy It was nice to see such good work ethic from this young man

Louise Waugh

We mostly chose this hotel because it was close when we wanted to stop driving, but very pleasantly surprised A huge step up from the least expensive, but a whole different experience Friendly, helpful desk personnel, a small snack shop NOT machines but a real person takes your money at the front desk

Roomy accommodation, very clean, plenty of towels and similar amenities Pet friendly

Pamela Williams

Lots of plusses – roomy, has a microwave and refrigerator, some nice updates in the (small) bathroom – granite countertop and lighted mirror, great shower and it’s easy to leave the tap in position to recall the temperature you choose, (the toilet paper origami was a nice touch) There’s an iron and board in the closet, luggage rack, armchair, desk and chair, lots of storage No odor in the room but caught a faint whiff of weed in the hall

Minuses include the adjoining room door doesn’t seat completely in the door frame, some minor shabbiness, and there was some trash behind the nightstand (people need to stop being slobs Pick up after yourself for Pete’s sake!) Front desk check-in was pleasant They have luggage carts and the elevator was quick Haven’t tried the free breakfast or the restaurant yet This place has a gym, a business center in the lobby, and a pool

Awesome place, would highly recommend! We stayed here in a double queen with our two kids (4m and 4y/o) and the place was fantastic The staff was so friendly during the whole stay The room was one of the cleanest of any that I have stayed in and had enough room for a pull out bed for the 4y/o

Loved the flexibility to have breakfast in the room or dining room depending on how the kids were doing Speaking of breakfast, it was awesome Fresh baked muffins that were the best I have had every morning with some great choices At the end of the night, the room was close enough to the restaurant to go to after we had the kids down to grab a couple drinks watching the monitor

Brigid Bowser

I stayed here for a wedding in Keene and could not recommend this Inn enough Everyone working the front desk was so kind and helpful The rooms are gorgeous – ours had a small deck and fireplace

Super cozy, clean and comfortable I think they even have dog friendly rooms! We had dinner at the Inn’s restaurant – our waitress was fabulous with such helpful recommendations and vegetarian accommodations The food was amazing! This is a must for a New England weekend getaway Looking forward to returning

Robin Faulk

The Chesterfield Inn is my “go to” destination whenever I need a getaway It is an easy drive from where I live in New England and consistently provides comfortable, inviting accommodations and upscale amenities Spending time in this lovely country inn is a true stress reducer for me

Rather than staying in the main inn, I typically select one of their pet friendly guest suites even though I don’t travel with a pet These rooms feature a king bed, private outside entrance, private terrace, and gas fireplace The staff members are immensely helpful and are genuinely gracious when dealing with guests Having a restaurant on the premises is also a definite plus and both breakfast and dinner can be delivered to your room Service is impeccable and the menu specials are updated daily

I was simply blown away with our stay and overall experience here Paul made accommodations to accept a flower delivery on my behalf and had them in the room upon check in Our arrival was seamless and the house is spectacular

Our room was incredibly clean and comfortable and even included a few local goodies to snack on Paul makes a killer breakfast and is a great guy to chat with and super nice! I recommend staying here if you’re ever planning on traveling to Brattleboro! We cannot wait to return!!

Amanda Hopkins

Paul was a fantastic host! Breakfast was amazing and he was able to provide a dairy free breakfast as requested However, room was a bit small and the bed noisy with the slightest movement We also had noisy neighbors though that isn’t Paul’s fault

5 stars for the host and breakfast3 stars for the room

Ayelet Waldman

What a wonderful inn The rooms are lovely, the location is perfect, the breakfast sublime But the thing that sets this in apart from every other is the remarkable service

The inn-keepers are kind, generous, attentive It’s really hard to imagine anything that could be done to improve this place We only wish we could’ve stayed for longer

Had a great one night experience here The room was impeccably clean, huge, and had a view of the river too! There was an issue with the TV not working but Ken made his way up and took care of it within minutes Just a reboot needed but it was great having that level of customer service

They also had a sleep number bed that was perfect I’ve never slept in one and it was extremely comfortable!

Lee D.

Had a great stay here for one night due to a snowstorm we did not wish to drive through We were able to book a room the day before with no trouble The room was very spacious and had everything we needed for our nights stay

Bed was comfy enough, not a huge fan of sleep numbers, but it did the trick If we’re ever back in the area we will definitely be staying here again

Meredith Passey

My boyfriend and I were looking to go away right as summer started, but didn’t want to travel too far or spend too much Found this place on a Google search and were blown away by it’s charm, cleanliness and the friendliness of the staff The view is amazing! The room is absolutely beautiful with hardwood floors and huge clean bathroom

It was in perfect distance to all the hiking, food, and beer we did while in NH/VT I could not recommend this place more!

Fantastic stay and this wonderful boutique hotel The general manager checked me in and was super friendly and helpful and he gave me a free upgrade to a two-level suite because of my Marriott membership status, what a wonderful room The hotel has nice touches like exposed brick and has photos of the interesting history of the location as a former department store and hardware store, etc

The hotel is not run down at all as a previous reviewer mentioned, my room was spotless and up-to-date The hotel is in great spot right on main Street with fantastic restaurants nearby and a roaster coffee shop four doors down and another marvelous organic coffee roaster on nearby Emerald Street The Fairfield inn has a good included breakfast and also is attached to a good restaurant next door Can’t wait to visit Keene again and I will definitely stay at this hotel again

UPDATED FROM 5 STAR TO 1 STAR SEE UPDATE: Quirky art deco style hotel conversion, possibly an old bank or store, in a quirky town Expect flaws

Rooms are comfortable and clean In fact fixtures, carpeting, furniture was a little on the higher end Understand this building is probably 100+ years old So if a creaky floor is what you call run down, I wouldn’t stay here If you call it charm, this is your spot Not your usual Marriott Personally thought it was fantastic UPDATE: unfortunately I spoke too soon Breakfast buffet is guarded Of course I do not know what I want, hence the reason it’s a Buffet I am presuming it is for my safety, yet there is no mask mandate at this hotel, the tables are 3 feet apart in the room they are serving breakfast, and the person guarding the breakfast is not wearing a mask Also the coffee section is not guarded I do not want to lean over the counter and try to figure out what they have for breakfast Will not be returning to this hotel

Jenna Struble

Overall, highly recommend this very nice property in lovely downtown Keene Excellent service by Michael who was super kind and professional-he not only ensured my stay was a memorable one, he loaned me a charger The suite was nice, with Keurig, two bathrooms(!) and nice decor

I did find the mattress to be a bit too firm and the air conditioning a bit too loud The bedroom can also be improved with a chair Breakfast room and choices were good
