From the very start Guest Relations with John Yancey Inn was Excellent, Hannah was quick to communicate, Bud and Karen very friendly, informative, extremely eager to serve! My Efficiency was Perfectly Detailed, Extremely Clean, Bright, Cheerful and Spacious! Lots of great Amenities! My room was immaculate, quiet and comfy…I especially loved the private, clean beach right over the sand dune!! Peter stocked a nice selection of different items for breakfast, including cereal, self-made waffles, muffins, yogurt, fresh fruit, etc (I loved the little brown bags for to go items)

A nice promenade lead to a deck providing lovely view of white sand beach, sparkling water, a star filled sky at night I’m so looking forward to returning to this ocean front Inn!

This review is for the non-renovated roomPros: Pet friendlyOceanfront property(not all rooms face ocean)Friendly employeesAble to move reservation a week out due to tropical stormContinental breakfastCons:Pool was closed This might have been due to covid but we was not informed of that

Initial reservation room type was changed then marked as no pet was traveling with us I think their online booking system is terrible Call them insteadKeys stopped workingSome rooms are still outdatedDog feces in some areas because renters are not cleaning up after them We could not find poop bags or trash cans specifically for the poopIce machine was down but office could refill buckets for usI’d stay again The staff were friendly and I’ve seen pics of the renovated building which hopefully we’ll stay in next time if we book far enough in advance We love that it’s pet friendly and close to everything

From the minute I walked up to the front desk and was greeted by a welcoming, friendly and happy staff member, I knew it was going to be a great stay Our ocean front room was clean and well appointed as the hotel itself was extremely clean Every member of the staff that we came in contact with was very friendly and outgoing

We ate in the hotel restaurant twice (dinner and breakfast) and the food was delicious with competitive pricing I want to particularly point out that for both meals, although the dining room was very full and you could see very understaffed, the waitstaff was still very friendly and attentive The grounds were impeccable and we look forward to going back in the near future My only complaint is I wish the pillows were a little firmer but other than that, you can’t go wrong staying here!

Amy Pitzer

The hotel is beautiful outside, in the lobby, and restaurantThe ladies at check in were not as kind to me as they were the guest before me A smile is everything

I did notice the ladies on the shift next were a lot more pleasantRoom was nice Beds were comfy Bathroom was cleanInside pool was dirty There was a muffin and lots of hair floating in the poolThe accessibility to the beach is very nice They have a fire pit and chairs on the back patio to enjoy on a chilly eveningAll and all it was nice I think $320 a night is a little high during the off seasonDefinitely eat breakfast at the restaurant Very sweet staff and yummy food

Liza Vigliotti

It’s perfect being right on the beach and a plus that Hilton bought the property including the pier Everything you need for a relaxing vacation is here which includes the on-site Restaurant, Tiki bar, outdoor patio where you can sit by the fire, poolside chairs and the covered deck that oversees the beach The room was perfect for our party of four! The place was clean and the staff were very friendly and very helpful! We would definitely come back and book our stay here again

The staff was extremely nice but the owner is very rude Didn’t like kids running around playing So not kid friendly at all

She waited til she thought people were gone to bed then she would walk around the motel and go through the people’s stuff She didn’t like us hanging around the picnic table and swing with our family We paid over $3,000 dollars for a week and had towalk on eggshells the whole week

This hotel was a pleasant surprise It was clean and the rooms were a good size Good location and friendly staff

They had a good breakfast and wine & cheese in the afternoon Right on the beach with a nice pool as well My only complaints are there is only one elevator and it’s painfully slow and the bathroom was a little small We were on the top floor and found ourselves having to take the stairs most times because there were so many people waiting on the slow elevator I would definitely stay here again though

Jacqueline Long

Great location! Most of the staff are very friendly and helpful The restaurant recommended by one young lady at the front desk was excellent We booked an oceanfront room which in my opinion was way overpriced

But we both enjoyed the views from the balcony Free breakfast was pretty good and helps you save time in the morning The room was clean, bathroom is small, parking never a problem

Jean Cherrette

Everything was great Staff were more than accommodating We were treated professionally yet friendly

The Holiday Inn offered everything you might need for a little beach getaway Check-in was easy and I was pleased to see staff wearing face masks The rooms were renovated recently with modern/minimalist furniture and a good-sized bathroom

Everything was really clean If you are driving here, I recommend bringing your own pillows! The AC was incredibly loud–to a level inhibiting sleep–which is the main reason this hotel isn’t getting five stars

We have stayed at Oasis Suites numerous times in the past but must say this last visit was even more exceptional! Beverly is hands down the most professional, friendly and kind person we have ever experienced She assisted us in coordinating side by side rooms for a family gathering with our children/grandchildren It was truly perfection and she went above and beyond to make it perfect and treated us as family

David also was superior as well as all housekeeping staff All other hotels should take lessons from them We will definitely be back!! A heartfelt thank you to all!!!

Adrian Troy

Oasis was the perfect place for my husband & parents to stay for the weekend The suite was spacious while offering enough privacy throughout the weekend as well The kitchen was well stocked if you wanted to make a simple meal and, despite not having an oven, the microwave was also a convection oven which was useful

The beds were super comfortable and generally everything around the property (ex ice machine) was in great working order We would absolutely stay here again

Melinda Kendrick

This was mine and my husband first time ever at the Outer Banks and by far I have to say that this accommodation at this Suite was lovely We stayed in the honeymoon suite because it was our 10 year anniversary and the honeymoon we never took because of having kids But now they are grown and it is our time besides grandkids

Great staff, clean room, pool clean, everything was lovely We didn’t stay in our room but only to sleep, because we were out riding the whole day we were there, but the time that we was in the room and checked in was lovely Keep up the good work

Very unimpressed We couldn’t check-in for at least 40 minutes past the 4 pm check-in time In their words they said the room was still filthy

When we finally made it to the room, it was a crackerbox with one of the most uncomfortable king sized beds I have ever laid on The cable tv signal was in and out due to a weak signal all evening long Bad experience We won’t be back

Feels right for the price Nothing super fancy but an upgrade from a motel for sure The staff were all friendly and very accommodating of questions

The indoor pool and hot tub were enjoyable in the rainy weather, and it was lovely to be so close to the private beach to be able to take advantages of quick breaks in the weather Beds were comfy Walls are very, very thin though – expect to clearly hear every word your neighbors say (and be heard yourselves as well) Included breakfast was a nice touch and about what I’d expect at this level of hotel, though the variety of available items was more than expected Decently clean where it counts

Shena Twitty-Carver

We booked a beautiful ocean view suite for our anniversary weekend and LOVED it The weather was horrible but at least we were able to spend some time away from home and just relax during this staycation Breakfast was amazing both mornings

Plenty of options Friendly staff I would recommend this place for travelers especially those for off season Awesome winter rates Not packed Just peaceful

uscray

This was our first vacation as a family since 2009 so I was out of practice booking reservations and planning activities I chose Shutters because of its location right on the beach, basic breakfast is included, was able to have an ocean view and the price was reasonable The elevator was still broken as per earlier reviews so if you get a 4th floor room like us be prepared to get some exercise

Got our pulse rate going when a rat snake met us halfway up the stairs, but at least no ratsThe room we got was very clean, the air conditioning worked great, and it came with a mini fridge and microwave Only wished we could have stayed a little longer

Been a lot of places and for the $ this place has the most enduring value Laid back fellow visitors, lots of owners using their timeshares for many years Everyone respectful and keeping things clean on beach and in shared spaces like the pools

You couldn’t get more family friendly Lots of good people with little kids using the pirate ship and swings, teens exploring freely under the condos and finding the secret soda machines, ping pong table, clubhouse Swimming in the ocean is mesmerizing for all ages Ive seen older kids/young adults playing games on the beach Everybody flying kites Best beach in the world It’s relaxing Special word: the morning is the best time for everything: spectacular sunrises, pleasant breezes on your porch, beach walk Cook your own breakfast and then go see some sights Sure there’s nightlife – but really, the value is in the peaceful beautiful, simple mornings

Krystal Sourwine

We’ve been coming down to the OBX Beach Club Resort for 16 years and never have a complaint We own 2 timeshares in the units on the beach side and love it! We spend our family vacation here every July The units are always clean and ready to go when we arrive and they’re quick to help when needed

Our units are finally being updated with new furniture and decor My only complaint this year is the queen beds needs replaced in our units They’re super uncomfortable and very squeaky Other than that, the pool is super nice and the activities at the beach club are fun! Highly recommend!

karenwh2os

The condo was pretty clean New carpet, plenty of kitchen essentials The bathrooms were large and updated

The primary suite bathroom has a HUGE jacuzzi tub with shower I don’t really use the jacuzzi feature but it was so nice having a huge shower Big enough for 2 I was very disappointed that the elevator was broken toting all our luggage up to the 3rd floor was not a fun time, nor was climbing the steps after the rain The sofa and loveseat looked like something out of That 70’s Show The bedrooms and bathrooms were nicely furnished and fairly updated But the living room and dining area really needs updating Overall, a clean place to stay, with a 2 minute walk to the beach, literally across the street

This is such a unique and charming place to stay The hosts, Greg and Linda are kind, hospitable, knowledgeable about the area, and interesting to chat with They were attentive in making sure our stay was special

Breakfast on the porch each morning, overlooking the sound, was one of my favorite parts The breakfast was placed on a tray for us so that we could eat it any time, at our leisure Really enjoyed kayaking in the sound from the property as well Cherry on top was learning that Greg built the home himself!

Aubrie Morefield

I had such an amazing time while I was there with my boyfriend, Linda a Greg were absolutely amazing and told us about places to eat and see The houses are absolutely beautiful and had no idea they were built by Greg himself which is absolutely incredible The view is also incredible especially at sunset, I got some nice photos of the sunset

They treat you like family and felt like I belonged there

Ryan Parker

What a great place to stay for a week The location and view of the sound from the back deck were amazing and we loved having our coffee in the morning and a cocktail in the evening out there The room was nice and the bed was perfect

Every detail was perfect The check-in process was simple, pleasant and accommodating The room was airy, spacious, spotless, and very bright with all the windows

The views were tremendous All of that, and no one could see into our room because of the orientation, and there were no buildings next to usThe Burrus House has clearly been updating itself, and so we appreciated the room being contemporarily appointed, even though it is a waterside InnThe owner, and her team, are very warm and sincerely helpfulA better experience for a beach area that a B&B would be!!

Rhonda Johnson

We stayed in Room 101 and absolutely were thrilled at the entire experience From the very beginning, we were impressed by having your staff member introduce us to the room and provide us with recommendations on things to do and places to eat Breakfast items provided were perfect and the wine and snacks in the afternoon/evening were a great touch after a busy day! Seriously considering retiring to the area in the future

Thank you for a super clean room and gorgeous views!

Shell’em Seafood Co.

I came here for business and decided to stay extra, because it is the most luxurious and charming getaway I have ever experienced Once I decided to extend my stay, I inquired about where I could get a good massage The staff scheduled an in-room massage for me with one of their favorite massage therapists (who luckily, had availability)

She was incredibly professional and truly skilledThe staff is kind, attentive, thoughtful, professional, and they go out of their way to make you feel cared for/that you have everything you need I cant wait to come back soon, with my husband It is such a romantic spot It felt good to feel/be so pampered

We had a great spur of the moment stay here They were super accommodating and even allowed us to adjust our arrival based on the weather forecast The room was very clean , nice linens, comfy bed

Of note- we stayed in an upper level room and our floor was squeaky so I’m sorry to whomever stayed below us for two days! My kids are animalsReal easy access to the beach, and a mice breakfast spot, Arts place, right next door

Red Davis

Stayed at Saltaire for 5 nights last week Had everything we needed The property is old school beach, very clean and well maintained

We reserved cottage 4 for a good view of the beach and ocean This close to the road, but noise was not much of an issue The beach access is across the road The kitchen has a full size appliances and plenty of glasses and dishware Overall, a very enjoyable stay!!

Samantha Raspanti

This was our 1st family vacation with our 2 boys and it was amazing! We stayed with another family of 4 in the 3 bdr bungalow and it was perfect! The enclosed porch was a super bonus when the sun was beating down a little too hard for our little ones and the pool was the perfect alternative to the beach when we didn’t feel like busting out all of our beach equipment There’s places to rinse off before you go back to your rooms too The staff was all wonderful ❤! Mike and Amanda were super helpful and went above and beyond in my eyes

The place and the beach weren’t over run by tourists and there’s a great bar restaurant next door with great food and service (Art’s Place I believe is the name) Highly recommend saltaire cottages to anyone We will definitely be returning!

I cannot say enough great things about this hotel! I got a great deal on the room, so I had my expectations set pretty low We were blown away by our experience! The rooms were clean and the staff was incredibly helpful Breakfast was good and well stocked

The hotel is right on the beach, with easy access to the ocean We will definitely be staying here in the future!

Dianna Ahner

I cannot say enough about this motel When we arrived at our room we noticed it was at the front of the motel in full sun We asked if we could change rooms which they changed immediately

The manager on duty even helped move our luggage Our next room had one of the best showers we have had at a motel Only comment would be that it should have more space to hold toiletries; contacts, solution, toothpaste etc Unfortunately we had to checkout early but the staff could not have been more accommodating Will definitely stay here again

Tara Gologram

Honestly I was really happy with my stay I came for spring break from college and this hotel happened to have the best deal When I booked I didn’t realize that you could walk out the back onto the beach

It’s back in a quiet area and everyone on the staff is very nice, gave me suggestions where to eat, what to do, and gave me bottles of water when I asked about a water fountain Only complaint is that the rooms are a bit small but you get what you pay for If I come back to OBX I would consider staying here again

We had a pleasant stay The staff was very courteous Especially Jamie, she was so accommodating

Excellent customer service! The room was spotless, kitchen was well stocked with cutlery and utensils Just a stone’s throw walk to the beach The hotel also has carts so we can get all our luggage from our car to the lift Will definitely come back and stay here

Wendy Colvin

Lovely hotel, it was very clean and appeared to be new The kitchen area in the room was great I saw other reviews saying there were dogs everywhere, but we only saw a few and it was actually nice to see them

It didn’t affect us at all The outdoor pool and beach access was brilliantThe only downside was that breakfast was all on disposable plates Not a huge deal, and possibly due to covid protocols? Just seemed like a huge waste throwing everything away All in all we had a wonderful stay and will be back again for sure

Nikki Greytock

Nice new hotel! King Suite is tiny, we opened sofa bed and it touched the king bed with no room to get between the two My husband and I stayed here with our two kids- high school and college age and it was super tight for the price Indoor saltwater pool, wished it was an outdoor pool

The first night was fine Clean sheets and an overall tidy environment We proceeded to stay for the next 3 days

We called room service the 2nd night to get clean sheets and fresh commodities They satisfied us by putting a couple fresh towels on our beds and doing nothing else Pretty shabby experience We definitely won’t be staying here again Not worth the money we paid

If I could give this Zero starts or even negative stars I absolutely would We walked into our room and the bedding smelled musty Housekeeping was a complete joke

The hotels I’ve been to washed the sheets every time we were gone Always came back to clean bedding However, it was not the case at this hotel Our second day, we called and requested clean bedding and more towels 8 hours later we came back to a set of towels and nothing else touched We slept in gross bedding for 3 nights and it was easily one of the worst experiences we’ve ever had at a hotel and we will not be staying here again Absolutely ridiculous

For an impromptu trip to the beach, my husband and I enjoyed our stay at the Seahorse Inn & Cottages We stayed in the Queen suite with a jacuzzi tub The suite was very clean and offered a lot of space

You have a living room area with a futon sleeper, tv, fridge, microwave and Keurig The bathroom was nice and clean, the jacuzzi tub was great, It is a 1 person jacuzzi tub The bedroom is spacious with a queen bed, the bed was nice and comfy My only complaint on the room, would be the duvet cover and sheetsThe Inn is located across from Jennette’s Pier with direct beach access Check in and out is done with a live video kiosk in the office The parking lot is rather small, smaller vehicles may park directly in front of downstairs rooms and larger vehicles park in the back lot All in all a great and affordable stay

We really enjoyed The Tranquil House Inn for our small (3 siblings and 2 spouses) family gathering The rooms were nice The big veranda overlooking the inlet was a big plus

We enjoyed ordering takeout from local restaurants and dining al fresco on the verandaWe were disappointed that both the website and staff email responses did not advise that the restaurant would not open until our departure We had asked staff prior to check-in via email for a reservation at the restaurant and staff advised that the restaurant is “first come – first served” without noting that the restaurant was closed on the date that we requested for a reservation Staff should update the websiteAll told, we will be back in the Fall

Was not up to the standards of other Select Registry properties that we have stayed Breakfast was just yogurt and fruit every day No one was in the lobby after 6pm

There was a town concert one night that looked cool but no one at the Inn knew about it so we missed it due to restaurant reservations Rooms were very nice but I would say that there were very few amenities offered during our stay

Great location! Must be wonderful in warmer weather The photo of the docks is the view from our room on the second floor Nice! The other photo is the inside of our door

Sad!! Unpainted trim and unfinished wall That’s the only knock on the place Hopefully they get this cleaned upI recommend a few days here Walking to a few places to eat, and Nouvines is close by too Nags Head is right over the waterway, and Duck is a 40 minutes close

I’m giving them a 5/5 stars because this place was absolutely phenomenal I’ve never written a review before, but my experience at the Colington Creek Inn was to good not to talk about First of all, the house is beautiful

It also smells super clean and fresh, and looks it too When we walked in, Dawn and Darold were very warm and welcoming, and made me feel at home immediately after stepping my foot in the door They will also let you do your own thing, but will have good conversation with you if you’d like Not to mention, the breakfast was super delicious and they even put fresh baked cookies outside our door the night I stayed Overall, this is the best place I have ever stayed and I can promise you won’t find better There’s so many more good things, but neatness to say I 110% recommend!!

Holly A. Guelig

This was the best service I’ve ever experienced Colington Creek Inn felt like home; the hosts/owners went above and beyond to make sure our visit was special and that we were comfortable The rooms are awesome and the views are refreshing

Breakfast was homemade and delicious! We will be coming back for sure Thank you for a wonderful getaway, Colington Creek Inn!

This Inn was truly a 5/5 star experience I know you’re probably wondering why ALL the reviews are 5/5 and I did too but let me tell you, you would not regret booking here Dawn and Darold were amazing & breakfast was great every single morning we stayed with them

They were knowledgeable about local “To-Dos” and those didn’t disappoint either! We will certainly be returning!

Our unit might have been nice in the 1960s when it was built It is now dirty, disgusting Our unit had mice and cockroachs

Dead bolt on door was not secure Black stains around vents and on ceiling Furniture was grosque Absolutely filthy Towels stained and bedding terrible The decking was dried out and splintering The charcoal grill was rusted with a big hole in it Carpet had terrible stains Two burners on stove did not work Unit had a distinct odor to it

Catriona Atkinson

The apartment itself was furnished nicely but was the bottom apartment, so no view and soundproofing between the upstairs apartment wasn’t great Bathroom was in need of an update The pool unfortunately was not yet open and if this was in the advertisement for the apartment, it skipped both mine and my partner’s attention several times, the hot tub was open and was wonderful

Nikki the manageress could not have been nicer or more helpfulIt was ideally situated for many of the sights I would stay there again but request a view
