Everything was great until the girls basketball teams came then we got talked to about being too loud We were laughing at a TV show

Guess that annoyed someone No freezer, have to ask for microwave Pool was dirty with stuff from trees Lounging chairs filled with the same tree stuff and no towels at pool Yet towels were laying everywhere Front desk people were amazing

Very unhappy with the service I reserved a room for my son’s wedding night Tried to pay in advance and was told that they could not let me pay since it was for my son

Sent him the money He tried to set-up an early check-in multiple times (in advance) and was told he would need to call the morning of – when he called they declined an early check in He checked in at the scheduled time and used his card (since I sent him the money) They charged my card When I called, I was told there was nothing they could do It was a very frustrating experience all around and we will not be using them again

This is a nice hotel with friendly staff I felt the room to be a big snug, with just the two of us tripping over each other and our belongings CAUTION – Do not expect the hotel restaurant to have good food, because it does NOT

It is mostly empty so corners are cut The food is pre-prepared and then heated up I had some sort of breakfast burrito that was probably the worst thing I have ever eaten It was a concealed clump of eggs, potatoes, and meat Gross The waitress was nice, took it back, and removed it from the bill

My first hostel hotel experience and it was surprisingly pleasant! The rooftop was beautiful and cold The lobby was comfy and warm The drinks were all amazing

I tried different local wines, had some tea, and grabbed a cup of coffee the morning before my departure It was all short, sweet, and comfortable I’ll be visiting Portland more and hope to get a room there again Definitely 10/10

Niusha Tajvidi

I would go back and visit Portland just to stay at this hotel! The staff here are beyond incredible Upon arrival I had a lot of anxiety as I was a first time solo traveller and everyone there made me feel so safe Everyone there genuinely cares about you and your safety

The hotel offers an escort system if you feel unsafe at a location and you can even text the staff at anytime which was super helpful I stayed at a single room which meant I had to share a bathroom and I had some reservations about it before visiting but it exceeded all my expectations! The room and bathroom was honestly cleaner than at any hotel I have stayed at The cafe/restaurant in the lobby had amazing food (I had a chocolate chip cookie from there every single day because honestly it was the best) There’s also amazing views from the beautiful rooftop patio I VERY HIGHLY recommend staying here!

Gosh what a unique hostel/hotel I loved staying here They have a big, coed hostel room with comfortable, ship-berthing-inspired bunks

They have privacy curtains which I loved The hotel also has private rooms but I didn’t stay in oneI loved the common cafe area The hours are long and there are always people taking advantage of the spaceThe only thing I can say negatively about this was the location being swamped by homeless people I have compassion for them but there’s a lot of unaddressed mental health issues and it made me feel unsafe leaving at night The doors to the cafe/hotel required being buzzed in or using your room key so that was coolOverall, I would stay here again This is the nicest hostel I’ve been in

Beautiful lobby and a classic hotel I stayed here for a few days for a work meeting and was very impressed with the hotel The lobby is beautiful and takes you back to another time

The staff were all very nice and quick to help I had a corner room and it was quite large and very nice All the furniture was very comfortable and very clean The windows also opened which was great to enjoy the beautiful weather The hotel does have a restaurant and I enjoyed multiple breakfasts, all were very good and made exact to order Overall I was very impressed and would definitely recommend and come back again

Brianna Bowles

Pros: Hotel had a timeless beauty to it that was lovely All of the people working there were welcoming and accommodatingCons: Stayed here prior to and the night after surgery to recover and the tempurpedic beds were not comfortable at all, it was rough

There were small parts of the room that weren’t entirely clean when we arrived (floor, sink,)Would stay here again but would 100% request a pillow top rather than memory foam mattress

Ian Taber

A huge thank you to The Benson! They got us a great room for our wedding night on very short notice and was very welcoming to us after our nuptials The front desk staff was always gracious and happy to congratulate us We both slept well and woke up wilt views of Mount St

After checking out, there was a charge in my bank account of a couple hundred dollars I called the hotel and asked why I was being charged and they said it was because there was an ironing board, iron, and pillow missing from the room They accused me of stealing the items and had footage of me and my husband checking into the hotel but conveniently “couldn’t find the footage of us checking out”

There’s no way I could fit an ironing board in my over night bag along with an iron and pillow I called the hotel manager and explained the situation and they only agreed to give me $50 back If you don’t want to get accused of stealing, I would find another hotel to stay at

We had a wonderful visit at the Phoenix Inn in Lake Oswego, we really couldn’t be happier with our stayThe service was friendly and available to help with whatever we needed, the space clean and open, and the room felt more luxurious than the price point warranted There is a clear attention to detail that makes the whole place feel warm and welcoming

It was also surprisingly quiet given the location The fact that it’s so near a highway didn’t bother us at all, instead it felt like a peaceful retreatAnd I was especially pleased that there weren’t any strong synthetic fragrances As someone with a very sensitive nose, the smells in many hotels can be overwhelming, but I felt totally comfortable at the PhoenixI will definitely recommend staying here to friends and family in the future!

Conveniently located next to I-5 and 217 Gas and restaurants adjacent Furnishings were a bit dated, though comfortable

Hallways had an aroma Not unpleasant to me, but may be a bit musky to othersPopular and not too expensiveRecommended

abberdail marie

The room was clean enough, but the pool was disgusting Half of the lights were turned off, I assume in an attempt to hide the sludge coating the walls I thought, maybe it’s just old? Nope

I swiped the side of the pool with a towel and it came right off I had already used the hot tub, but when I came in the jets were already on I took a look, and it was also gross I spent the next week worrying I was going to get an infection I was super disappointed, because I REALLY wanted to swim and it had good reviews It was a major reason why I booked here in the first place

I have been coming here for a long time If you stay for a few days you for sure will love it I’m sure!Excellent service and stay! All those we interacted with on the Marriott team were incredibly kind, competent, and helpful Our room was comfortable (great bed!), clean, and the view was beautiful We were particularly impressed with the customer service provided by Aurelio in the M Club Definitely recommend a stay here! We’ll be back!

Very nice hotel This was our second stay Room had everything we needed for a night

Great restaurant downstairs Check in and check out was quick and easy Valet was expensive but easier and safer than parking elsewhere Clean, stylish facilities Convenient location within walking distance to several fun places Wish we would have had a room with a view of the river like last time, but it wasn’t a big deal

Russ Johnson

Had another great stay and decided to leave a review about my fantastic river view roomPros:Great staff, clean and updated rooms, nice on-site dining options, great location, Great M lounge breakfast The fitness center is large, well-lit, and has well maintained equipment

The valet service is promptCons:The rooms are updated but small by todays standardsThe M lounge is sad and empty in the evening, with just a cash barAny hotel with a lounge, should have at least beer and wine for a couple of hoursThe manager said they are working on the M lounge situation so I look forward to that during my next stay

We had a great stay at the Royal Sonesta The rooms are beautiful, clean, and spacious We stayed in a suite with two adults, two toddlers, and an infant

The decor of the hotel is charming and eclectic while simultaneously feeling modern, clean, and high quality The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, including everyone from the front desk to housekeeping, and overall exceptional service There was valet parking but we arrived Saturday night and we’re able to park for free on the street directly in front of the hotel

Justine Bee

Was pleasantly greeted by the expansive lobby complete with chess set and piano, lots of quirky colorful decor We’d booked before 6pm for our King suite room and upon arrival after 10pm found it wasn’t ready The front desk man kindly made it worth our wait and it wasn’t really an issue

For being a large hotel we were not provided with a map to find our room although we figured it out, I just thought that unusual No complimentary amenities besides water and coffee when we’d arrived In the bathroom of our room I found tiny bits of broken glass beneath the sink, likely from one of their provided glass cups having shattered previously There were no instructions for using the jacuzzi, or more importantly draining it so we were only able to use it the once Also I feel the step up to get into the jacuzzi is a wet safety hazard They removed the mini bar/fridge for covid so no where to store our food overnight The beds have no comforter or blanket, and rough sheets We enjoyed the funky decor and despite everything had considered staying another night as we were visiting family My boyfriend requested of the front desk through their text service and was informed by the first AM shift that our room was still available By 9am while we were asleep it was already booked and no alternatives rooms or rates were offered When asked about this we were informed it was a highly sought after room, but being as we were in house and had asked first we were upset they’d give it to someone else so soon We expressed discontentment and were told a manager would reach out to us after check out but this never happened We ended up booking another hotel

Perfection Absolutely perfection Love the decor

Vintage without the smellI want to meet the interior designer and congratulate them on an exquisite juxtaposition of the sublime, dreamy and plain old vintage Being there transports you to another place, another time Love the chessboard in the lobbyCleanliness, style, service One night of staycation released a season of stress Thank you

Great location The front desk people were really helpful answering questions on how to get around town to places we were visiting The young valet guy was really nice, outgoing, and helpful even though we didn’t use the valet

He gave us tips on best and safest places to park overnight Did not know there was a roof top patio with music, that was a nice bonus Had a burger and a drink in the Tavern restaurant around 9pm and it was good! The bartender was nice, very professional and hustling around his bar His bar back didn’t seem very helpful but she also seemed really new (at least I hope she was) Even got a cocktail to go to take to my roomThe room looked clean but I saw one incident that was concerning We were waiting for the elevator and a person from housekeeping had a large rolling bin of bright white freshly folded towels and had a dirty door stop sitting on top of a clean towel in her bin, yuck😖 We were in a hurry to go to an event so I didn’t talk to anyone but it was all I could think about when we got back late to the room to take showers Everything felt clean up until that point

Beth Machek

If I could I would give 10/5 starsHonestly from the moment we got here we left like we could be at home The staff were great, the breakfast was decent for a continental breakfast and everything was clean

We did call to check about a play pen and we’re told it was first come first serve which ended up being fine as the hotel we stayed at the night before didn’t have any so we had to get our ownThis hotel is kid and dog friendly and I will be telling anyone going to Portland to check them outGreat roof top patio and pool as wellWater and coffee available in the lobby and a to go breakfast brown bag in the morningI think that’s it Honestly one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at

Todd Leadens

WE had a great experience here We opted for the executive suite and it was amazing for the price! The hotel has a nice pool designed for families, a huge workout room, food options, and even a rooftop patio We ended up sleeping in because the bed was so comfy we didn’t want to get up! The open airy feel of the room was one of the best experiences I’ve had in a hotel room

Overall every aspect of the hotel was a pro except for the following minor items:Cost of valet parking was high, especially if you tip on top of that Still worth it though compared to parking on the street in Portlandthe microwave in the room was quite small, too small to even cook the free popcorn provided in the room properlyAnd that’s it honestly, I’m not sure how this is only a 2-star hotel With an attentive respectful staff, more amenities then we even used, and a level or quality that we didn’t experience with the three other hotels we stayed at this weekend the Hampton Inn & Suites Portland-Pearl District is definitely a place to stay

Priya Ball

Overall a disappointing experience, especially for the price The lounge area is very nice and the room decor has a fun Portland vibe to it However the rooms left a lot to be desired cleanliness wise

The bathroom had dusty surfaces and active mold growing in the shower, and the sheets and pillows smelled awful The floor also seemed like it hadn’t been cleaned In general the quality of the room does not match the price point We showed up at 5 (an hour after check in time) and our room still wasn’t ready, had to wait 30 more minutes which was not great with an infant The front desk and valet staff were great though, very polite Definitely will not be returning to stay here

Sally Mitchell

I highly recommend this hotel if you want to stay in central Portland I love all the cool rustic chic lounge areas to relax, particularly the winter garden which is really chill I enjoyed the rooftop gym with city views and an outdoor seating area

The staff are all super helpful and welcoming It’s walking distance to some good restaurants and shops in Pearl District and Nob Hill, and also walking distance to Washington Park They also have a restaurant on-site which does great breakfasts! Overall I really enjoyed my stay there

Kierstin Elise

I had stayed at the Canopy before the pandemic and had a wonderful experience so I decided to return for a girls trip Unfortunately my experience the second time around was much different! On the way to the hotel I called the front desk to inquire about whether they had a Tesla charger on site because we were trying to map out our trip/miles The woman I spoke with at the front desk assured me they had one we could use

We arrived, checked our car with the valet and asked if he could place it on the charger for us He let us know they did not have a Tesla charger I explained to him I had called ahead and spoke to the front desk and ultimately she had given me the wrong information The valet luckily was very kind and went out of his way to assist us & was very apologetic about the mishap (he was phenomenal and I wish I knew his name to personally mention)! We then went to check in and I noticed they had booked us in a single king room but our reservation was for 2 queens It took a little time but they were able to get it straightened out after I pulled up my email to confirm However, in hindsight I wish I would’ve stayed with the original roomWe ended up with a room on the 6th floor that had bed bugs Our stay was only 1 night and both of us ended up with close to 30 bites on each of our bodies We weren’t sure what the ‘rash’ was at first (that’s what we thought it was) but a doctor quickly confirmed it was bites from bed bugs We both ended up needing a prescription steroid due to the number of bites and inflammation My friend promptly called the hotel to let them know they may have an infestation and they didn’t seem to take her concerns seriously at all, which was shocking! I would be very cautious staying here! I’d seen other reviews mention the lack of cleanliness but never in a million years did I expect there to be bed bugs!Side note: I will say that the restaurant was a very good experience and between the servers there and the valet attendant, those were the only times I feel I experienced great customer service!

We stayed this last week and had an amazing experience The kindness and overall service received from the employees was phenomenal We felt very welcomed and accommodated

It is a beautiful hotel that is clean and well maintained It is located in a nice area with numerous parking garages surrounding the area The only complaints would be that the pool was unexpectedly closed during our stay, and the in room fridge was not working properly I’d definitely stay again!

Anna Berntsen

Beautiful rooms that feature floor to ceiling windows, a mini fridge, and glass shower doors It was very nice that they welcomed me back once they had seen that a was a returning customer It was also great to see that they checked in by text to see hiw my stay was going

The downside was that it was a little dusty and the windows with the amazing view still had the fingerprints of young children However, I don’t blame them for wanting to get as close as possible to that amazing view They did come and bring some new linens upon asking for maid service Great little spot with a fantastic view

Kellen McInerny

Note that I use hotel points to check out this placeThe hotel is really well styled The pool is fancy and kid friendly

The patio provides a cool sunken vibe where you’re safe from the street noise while you admire towering skyscrapersThe location is close to the waterfront But I recommend coming here as a romantic valentine’s day or celebrate an anniversaryAt the time the steam room was out of order But if the sauna, steam room, and pool are all open I would make an effort annually to come here as a local to have a spa retreat from my regular Portland work week

When we got to our room, there was a strong smell of cleaning chemicals We’re sensitive to stuff like that so asked if they could move us and they found us another room with no hassle, no questions The new room was a little smaller but didn’t face Burnside, so quiet and a nicer view

I felt like they really took care of us and were very gracious about doing so It was refreshing to get such nice service and really made our stay fantastic The staff were all friendly and eager to help Really enjoyed our stay

Kathijune Bruyere

Absolutely fun experience for a creative being like myself! We got the Werewolf room and the quote around the room though dizzying to follow is the greatest thing I have seen The art in the room and halls (and I am sure the other rooms as well) gives me a through the looking glass feel The bed is comfortable and clean and the staff/personell are helpful and friendly

Dave Cramton

This place is all about attitude and convenience Tiny rooms and shared bathrooms aren’t for everyone But the rooms are clean, the bathrooms (single occupancy, not dorm style!) are kept clean as well

Provided robes are comfortable and voluminous Typical of McMenamins, everything is funky and stylish Great place to stay if you’re seeing a show just up the block at the Crystal Ballroom Zeus Cafe in the lobby makes a great brunch

Booked a 2 bedroom suite for 2 nights Very much enjoyed the rooms and the responsiveness when I called the front desk for bedding The king bed was nice, but definitely not as comfortable as many hotel beds I’ve stayed in (too firm)

Hot tub was great being inside Biggest complaint is lack of Continental breakfast The hotel gave us two $7 coupons for the restaurant breakfast which still ended up being almost $40 for two modest meals Almost everything seemed cooked well but shockingly bland Like zero flavor The french toast was just plain bad Overall, would definitely stay again but I’d avoid the restaurant

Hyperjackaboy 3583

I loved my stay here! The rooms were very clean and comfortable Most rooms have a small balcony that looks right out onto the river There are walking trails next to the river and even a dock to walk on

The staff is amazing The lady that helped me upgraded my room to one with a jet tub for my husband and I The restaurant has very good food When you check in they give you a voucher for 7 dollars towards breakfast Overall it was a great stay and we will be back!

Pros : Absolutely Fantastic location in central downtown Portland just a few minutes away from Powell’s Bookstore The rooms were very quiet once the window was closed and they even had blackout curtains The shower was great

Was able to secure a room with two double beds that were very comfortable and clean The room had a safe and nice bathrobes There was also a TV and the staff were only a text away Did not stay long enough to access the gym facilities The staff are very hands-off which is nice for me Free coffee and pastries at breakfast and your choice of local craft alcohol on checking inCons : No cleaning service until requested or you reach a 3rd day, no insuite mini bar just an empty fridge Can’t order room service as the restaurant and bar on site seems to be closed long-term instead, you have to order from a restaurant online that requires inputting of all your information again and was quite expensive Since the hotel was so central you were spoiled for choice in regards to food options outside the hotel so that wasnt a big deal for us Also no extra movies or things you could order on the tv if you were in the mood for that They charge a resort feeAll in all my complaints are pretty small and the hotel was at a good price point and so centrally located I would 100 percent stay there when I’m in Portland next If you are bombing around town all day it’s a perfect base camp for your adventures

We stayed at the Dossier because Travelportlandcom recommended it (in a recently updated article from Oct 2021) as a place that was dog-friendly with no pet fees that even had special amenities for dogs (bed, bowls, treats, and a “spiritual menu” we were dubious of and intrigued at the same time) The only box it ticked was the first one

We weren’t offered so much as a MilkBone for our pup, and when I saw the itemized receipt in my email, there was a $25 pet fee included in the bill It’s a nice place and we had no issues with the staff, but were disappointed from our expectations We had thought we’d be getting something extra special or we’d have opted to pay half as much to stay at Holiday Inn or something Maybe they need to talk to TravelPortlandcom about getting their info straight if they don’t want other guests to feel shorted

We had a lovely stay here over the weekend Hotel was nice, staff were friendly and amenities good Being new to Portland, we were not aware of the homeless population that lingered in the streets

I would not say this was any downside to the hotel or our stay as we enjoyed our stay Simply be aware of this when visiting downtownWe enjoyed how quite the hotel was and the black out curtains during our stay It allowed us to sleep-in when we wanted without disruptionWhile travelling, we needed a few essentials that the hotel was able to provide This included a shaving kit and tums Things we clearly forgot to pack Thank you to the staff and who were helpful during our stayValet was around $48 US and was valuable during our stay You’ll notice lots of parkades in the area but knowing our car was safe and secure, and valuable whenever we needed it, was a nice option to have

Good place to stay for a night or twoWe stayed as a family We reached at late night and our room was ready

Parking is a problem They offer valet parking (at $49), but make sure you offload all your stuffs as they use another building to parkService was courteous, we got a microwave in the room on requestThey had a small breakfast corner where we ordered bagels and croissants (for $4 each)Check-out was a breeze They gave us a few hours more on request

Not sure what to say about this hotel we had nothing but bad luck…checkin process was decent and the location is good The room was not that great The shower/toilet situation was not the best definitely awkward with the see through glass for the toilet/shower especially at night if you need to use the washroom it’s a little odd definitely not practical

There was a little fridge but no microwave There is valet parking at this hotel and it takes about 15-20 minutes to retrieve your vehicle which is fine but our car was broken into and that was not pleasant dealing with that so it isn’t safe at all They also do not clean your rooms daily The heat/ac system was absolutely awful it was freezing when we came back from a day out so I turned the heat up and then it was suddenly super boiling and the fire alarm went off in our room (we were just trying to nap) They called us and told us not to smoke and they could give us a fine – we didn’t appreciate the tone as we do not smoke nor have we ever We ended up just turning the stupid heat/ac unit off completely as we didn’t want to deal with that again so it was terribly stuffy Having driven there and just wanting to enjoy our first vacation in a long time, we ended up leaving two days early and moving on not trusting our vehicle was safe we definitely did not have the best of experiences sadly Would not recommend

Amazing stay Completely pet friendly, NO hidden pet fees, no weight limits, no breed restrictionsWe felt right at home

No funky smells Pet friendly restaurant patio Pet friendly walking pathsComfortable bed and pillows Good water pressure No road noise No sketchy drifters, which is rare for some areas of Portland these daysOther hotels claimed to be pet friendly, but when I called about pet fees because the booking was nonrefundable, it was $30 per dog at another hotel! Which would’ve made the room over 2x as expensive as I had 3 dogs with me

Lovely hotel by the river Is perfect to explore Portland The room was great

The view is of the marina, but also the bridges spanning the river – so a little noise from there Some good restaurants nearbyThe reason I removed a star for service is because not one member of staff in reception said good morning (or anything) as we walked through – even though we said it to them So our only interaction was check in and check out – efficient but not uber friendlyThe housecleaning crew, however, were lovely

I stayed in 217, which was at the end of a hall It was large, with a peek a boo view of the river & one of the bridgesVery comfortable Queen bed, very clean

The bathroom was enormous with a standard style shower/tub combination There was a hide a bed, and actually enough room to open it and move comfortably, if neededThe restaurant is solid and has a good bar if you prefer to stay on premisesTwo things that knocked it down for me:-Hidden fees-Dour front desk person – I kept dealing with the same person, and they just made me feel unwelcome I asked a friend who was with me when I checked in if I was imagining it and she said, no – there was a weird vibe The desk person said all the right things but there was something perfunctory about them – it was over the course of 3 days, and there was never a lineso I don’t know Left a weird impressionAlso – if you are not from the area – I went a mark down on location only because it can be difficult to navigate in and out of the River area generally It’s beautiful though!!!

Very friendly and attentive staff There is a bar and the option to buy snacks in the lobby, in addition to a full menu available for room service or diningThe rooms were nice and spacious but lacked closet space (there is no dresser just a couple of pull out shelves)

The hotel is near plenty of restaurants (within a 5 minute drive)

for nearly $300 tonight, and making breakfast something you pay for as part of a package, ridiculous! When we booked the hotel-one of the reasons we booked it was for a free breakfast, and to come to find out there was no breakfast included in our night stay, I was very disappointed and shocked by the amount of money we paid to not have a complementary Metairie breakfast included it’s just mind boggling to me The staff member, who is quite rude, stopped us at the entrance of the complementary breakfast station, and said we had to pay for it as part of a package I would think paying $285 for one night should very much include a complementary breakfast for a five-year-old and an 11 year old with their dad

I will not stay there again!

Consuelo Enriquez

I will always be grateful for the staff I met here that have be came lifelong friends I stayed here 169 days for work I enjoyed everyday I was there

Staff was amazing! Dining and Bar service was exceptional! Big shout out to Kealoha, Maurice, Monte, Iris, Lisa, Louise, Miguel, Elario, Steven, Jackson, Karlie, Kiara, Karen, Hailey and the front desk manager forgive me for not remembering her name Everyone was like family and I will always be back when I am in Portland!
