I saw the reviews after booking and it gave me pause We did not have any of the negative experiences that have been mentioned here The outside of the building could use a refresh, but the inside looks great

The staff was friendly and helpful and our room was clean with a great view The pool area is really nice and spread out, with two pools and a large hot tub One of the pools is salt water and the other has swim up bar and a slide Considering the price of some of the other hotels nearby, I think this was a good value and would enjoy staying here again

Vidal Sanabria

The service and location are definitely where you want to be If you book an ocean front room here, it literally is facing the ocean Our room was so close to the ocean I could have thrown something in from our balcony if I wanted

The rooms were stylish and simple The only issue we had was the cleaning staff could do a little bit better cleaning the floor of the rooms We would definitely stay here again, as it is close to everything and a beautiful location

Peter

45Came with my girlfriend and we had a wonderful time The check in process was quick easy and the receptionist, Melany, was very polite

I recommend asking to be upgraded as soon as you arrive it’s a slight upcharge (we paid about an extra $35 per night), but its totally worth it So if you have the option request the ocean view side From my understanding the side that faces the bay is an older building and not as updated We got an upgrade and our room was much larger with a nicer bathroom The pool area is nice and the beach is a public beach but they will give you chairs and an umbrella Lots of restaurants, shops and other things in walking distance Would definitely come back!

This is quite an interesting hotel! My husband and I booked an “Artist Room” as that was the only option available for our dates, and we stayed in the “Brown Room” Our room was fairly accessible, located only a few steps from ground level near the front desk That cannot be said for many rooms on the property- Some rooms are accessible only via steep stairs/ spiral stairs

Our room was small, as expected, and windowless The slatted door was surprising to us, but made sense due to the lack of windows The bathroom was located in the room, but up a small set of stairs and was tight- not much room for toiletries The AC in the room was great- The room temperature was well regulated the whole time The bathroom was not well ventilated, and did get fairly sticky- The door to the bathroom didn’t close all the way, probably due to the wood swelling, so we didn’t have much privacyI would caution light sleepers before booking this hotel- Our room, while internal and windowless, was loud due to the neighboring room and their guests We could hear every conversation in the lobby and the screaming of the kids in the room next to us until well into the nightThe hotel is old and funky, but was comfortable and generally clean Due to the open-air nature of the hotel, there was some dirt on the floors/ in the room, but I am very sensitive to dust and mold and was totally fine in this hotel, which is rareThe location is unbeatable and the views from the rooftop are very unique

Melanie Wooden513

From booking to checking out this was a wonderful place The staff is amazing and always willing to assist in making your stay memorable and as comfortable as they possibly can Before we arrived for our birthday vacation I contacted the guest services and had a few special requests and they worked with me to get them taken care of

Our suite was gorgeous and the view, there are not enough words to describe it Thank you to Nadia, Sophia Leanne and all of the wonderful staff at The Gallery Inn A special thank you to Edwardo who provided not only security but also assistance with parkingThis is not a place for everyone, if you love history and classic old world design If you like the idea of sleeping in a place that has a story in every nook and sings loudly of tradition then this is the place for you There are no elevators so if you have physical limitations that keep you from climbing stairs then you may want to reconsider this property If you are looking for “shiny and new”you should definitely reconsider There are no TV’s in the rooms either But if you love art, music, history and have a open mind then this is the place for you… I promise you will fall in love… the cherry on top is the beautiful garden and sitting areas and the birds are a huge part of the uniqueness that is The Gallery Inn Kudos to the owner Jan for creating an environment that takes you back in time and allows you to truly embrace Old San Juan in all its glory

Kim Loman

A true 5 star The Gallery Inn is a true gem within Old San Juan We stayed in the family suite with another couple

The rooms had comfortable beds, the art was beautiful, and the roof top patio had amazing views of the ocean and the city The pool isn’t your traditional swimming pool and instead an artistic wading pool The outdoor areas were covered in vegetation and well maintained The attached restaurant had the best food we had our entire trip and the staff was friendly I hope to return here again and I would highly recommend

Our stay at the O:live was a dream come true! The aromatic entry was amazing to walk into and the atmosphere felt so relaxing, romantic, eclectic and unique The front desk staff was exceptional! Vincent, along with two young ladies at the front desk were so kind to suggest local hot spots as well as helped book us a car rental when we got in a last minute bind Hands down some of the best costumer service we have had in a long time

Our room was very clean and the bed was so comfortable! I couldn’t say enough positive things about this beautiful hotel We also did the roof top couples massage and it was lovely The only (and I mean ONLY) let down was that the stone tub did not get hot enough to actually soak in and it took a while to fill up Never the less worth the stay! We will be back!

Dani Szafran-Reeder

My husband and I came here for our delayed honeymoon because we got married during COVID lockdown, and we already are making plans to come back The hotel is so clean and beautiful, and the people working there were incredibly hospitable The level of detail that they take care of to make sure you enjoy your stay shouldn’t go unnoticed

We had the Mediterranean Oasis suite and I never wanted to leave!

Josh Vega (Josh Vega)

The hotel is beautiful and the staff are great but we had a few issues… We specifically booked the romantic room with the hot tub but it turns out the water isn’t hot and you have to fill it up yourself with a hose which takes hours I tried to fill it up after a night out and it just took to long so it killed the vibe Third night I asked the staff to fill it up for us so it would be ready when we got back but it was only filled up a quarter of the way (possible leak)

Also our AC unit kept turning off on its own so I had to wake up at least 8 times a night to turn it back on

My partner and I stayed at the Hilton Caribe for 5 nights on a reward stay It was hands down one of the best hotel experiences I’ve had We arrived early and they got us into an upgraded room as a courtesy for being a Diamond member

The view was breathtaking and I love waking up to it every morning The room was modern, clean and comfortable The hotel grounds were spotless and downright beautiful We loved the parrots in the lobby, the tropical gardens and the private beach All the employees we ran into were so kind and helpful There are a bunch of dining options on site with good hours There’s also a convenience store on site with everything you might need The breakfast buffet was probably the best I’ve been to We can’t wait to come back again

You can’t beat the location for access to everything in old San Juan The view from the balcony room can’t be beat Sure, the rooms could use some renovation, but it was a large two bedroom with full kitchen

I loved my stay, and encounters with staff were always friendly The air conditioner wouldn’t turn on after I turned it off Maintenance arrived in less than 30 minutes I went to the beach, and returned to a working ac Definitely a great place to stay if you want all the comfort of “living” in PR, and access to everywhere with the touch of a button Don’t bother renting a car, driving in San Juan is tough, and Uber is cheap

Eevahn Mozgo

This hotel is located in a great location in the Old town Close to many locations Rustic, authentic style, wonderful view from the rooftop

Great atmosphere, highly recommend We spend there just one night, but we will stay longer next time Also, the hotel is very close to both castles You can tip the staff directly from your credit card, that helps when you run out of cash 🙂

I’ve been coming here for years If you stay for a few days you won’t regret itThe hotel was accommodating to my numerous request The room service was surprisingly tasty and filling Pool bar had amazing food as well The pool was clean and the water was warm The gym was surprisingly large with enough equipment to maintain any workouts you may do

Stephanie Long

The hotel was nice However, the service was very poor Our room was not ready at the 3 PM check-in time that was provided in the confirmation email

I was told by Ariel that 3PM is a start time for check in, not the check in time The room was not ready until after 4PM Our room was not serviced, nor were we provided with requested clean towels for our entire 5 day 4 night stay We requested clean towels on 2 occasions in the early morning hours and upon returning to our room in the evening nothing was provided Luckily we were able to catch a housekeeper in the hallway on couple of occasions to obtain clean towels On the fourth day of our stay, I inquired about why our room had not been serviced I was told that the room is only serviced after the third night of your stay Being that it was currently the fourth day of our stay, I requested that the room be serviced and fresh towels provided, still nothing happened The hotel and amenities were nice However, the poor service provided by the hotel was very disappointing!

The decor, different and a good interesting! The beds felt great And there are fresh fruit and water available in the lobby The front desk was very very helpful

Took us on a tour of the place and gave us detailed and visual recommendations of places to see and eat around the area Beautiful space Huge roof top Grill and kitchen available for use, nice enough to have a party, which one guest had Very nice

Carla Graham

The hotel is very beautiful and well decorated We were in the one bedroom suite which was very spacious, with a full fridge, sink, and microwave The location is perfect

We were pleased with our stay A few negatives: the plumbing is old so toilet paper can’t be flushed, it goes in a little trash can by the toilet No elevator, so be prepared to carry your stuff up the stairs And the front desk isn’t staffed 24/7 but there is a number to call if you need anything Overall, we were satisfied and would stay here again

joseph thomas

We arrived on the 4th of July and learned the owners were having a party for friends and guests that evening The food was incredible and the crowd was full of warm and interesting people We enjoyed our stay so very much

The room was okay and the view was good but several things were just bad Our flight got cancelled and we couldn’t make it for the first two days of our trip, and they gave our room away and put us in a room with a worse view (although not a bad view, it was less panoramic than we signed up for) The stove in the room was broken, the door lock was broken and we had to leave our room unlocked until it could be fixed

The pool area was okay, but the hot tub had dirt and hair floating in it and the whirlpool jets were not working and the control was broken so it scratched us when we tried to turn it Overall place has a lot of potential but does not seemed well maintained at all

Latasha Mullins

DO NOT I repeat DO NOT stay here First day I got there my room was messed up they put me in a room that I did not pay for and had less amenities! I contacted them and I was told they would change my room that never happened The guy stopped answering the phone completely there was no hot water the iron did not work in the room and the sheets were nasty!! The second day he responded in a text he would compensate me and that never happened either! But to put the icing on the cake the day I was suppose to check out at 12 I left to get coffee at 9am came back and was already locked out my room with my things still in there and I had a flight to caught! I am not over exaggerating this is all true I recommend no one stay here because it’s just going to continue to happen!

Bambi Cruz

I went June 1-8 this year Was given the wrong room to start, when asked they said that’s what was available despite me planning my trip 4 months in advance

The room was dirty , I had to call to get iron, no housekeeping Parking was at an abandoned hotel a block away The balcony was a joke I could not stand out there with my husband- plus has a unit blowing hot air ( I think it was for air conditioning) but the pictures are deceiving I know for next time , don’t waste ur money!!

this is not for you With that being said, we loved this hidden gem We rented a private room with shared bath and it had amazing doors that opened up to a balcony We were provided towels and the shower was clean It was perfect for a quick night stay after flying in late to San Juan! If you stay, you MUST go to Cafeteria Mallorca for breakfast Incredible 🤤❤️

Will never, ever, bring my family to this place again No furniture at the room we had, just two bunk beds, the window was locked, the door got stucked all the time, all is old, all si falling apart, the place is super noisy, cheap and even feels expensive for what you get, they can do way betterI really don’t get it why this place has so good ratings, I’m very disappointed on Google reviews, seems to me that many are faked

shelly Peabody

The location couldn’t have been better The price was perfect This was the first time staying in a hostel, it was much more than I was expecting

The bed was comfortable, though I suggest bringing your own pillow and blanket They provide pillows, I like thicker pillows and they provide sheets and towels, the ac gets the room cold (We brought pillows and light blanket) friendly staff, it was clean Good kitchen though we didn’t use it 2 thumbs up, highly recommend

I would not recommend staying here There were various problems throughout my week long stay The biggest gripe I have for sure is that my bag of souvenirs was missing

I reported it and never heard back, when I followed up I was told that it was never reported but it was most likely accidentally thrown out by housekeeping and in the dumpster The next day I followed up again I was told there was never a report despite the person I spoke to standing right there! The person at the desk went to talk to somebody and came back and said after an investigation it was determined there was never a black bag in my room so I cannot be reimbursed 1)The bag was white 2) How did they do an investigation if they just said it was never reported? 3) How could an alleged investigation determine it was never there when the one item I took out of it was still there? On top of that, there were other problems Our rooms were not ready at 4 PM like we were originally told check-in time was The 7th floor smelled like what I can only describe as wet clothes and stunk up the hallway and bedroom None of the computers worked in the business center either The washers and dryers were also bad the clothes did not dry at all and had to be hung out The hotel is nice aesthetically but that is about it I feel bad writing this review but I felt that I had to say something

Guillermo Loubriel

We liked this Hyatt Why 4 stars? When we checked in we had to wait past 3 pm for our room (503, a handicap room) even though they were not full Also, the room seems to have a problem with the AC- it always felt humid and the sofa felt wet

We remarked this and they changed the filter but that didn’t help But, kudos to their maintenance guy who was friendly and professional NOTETO THE MANAGER: the breakfast staff take out a large amount of food just prior to closing, is it because they are allowed to take it home if uneaten?

Robert Harris

The hotel was not forth coming on all the fees They nickle and dime you And don’t like being transparent

I asked what the fees were to park, when setting up I couldn’t get a clear answer Then i was told $1100 a day They charge a daily incidental fee And it broken down with surcharges Its not like a $15000 a then fees They’re also taking that fee with a municipal fee, and surcharge fee Question ask them?

We loved our stay here! It was right on the beach (the highlight of hotel), convenient to local stores, restaurants, and bars (all within walking distance), and the staff was very friendly and super attentive- anything you want was a easy text message away! If I had to give any recommendations for an improvement would be better ventilation in the rooms The rooms are really small (which is standard for a boutique hotel) but because of that the room felt moist and stuffy at times (especially if the air conditioning wasn’t on) My other recommendation would be a separate sitting area outside for hotel guest! The restaurant inside the hotel has seating for restaurant patrons only, but as a guest it would have been nice just to sit out on that balcony area and enjoy the nice weather

Yusimy Reyes (Yusi)

Hotel personal very nice Front desk personnel very friendly and helpful However, rooms are not as cleaned as expected

Rooms need a little maintenance to make them look as they are promoted within their website Sink was loose; from the wall Toilet seat was not the size the toilet bowl required (oversized) Bed sheets were not changed during my 5 day stay It would have been nice to have had at least every other day; room service; done to the room and clean towels placed Otherwise, my rating would have been 5 stars

Had a great 5 days here with my wife recently I understand it might not for everyone but it’s a hotel definitely worth more than 1 starWe had room 510 and it was great

The bathroom is huge and the lighting, balcony and the finishes of the room are for a 4 star hotelThe rooftop pool is amazing Very quiet every morning and we had a relaxing time ordering and bring our own drinks from our roomThe restaurant on the 1st floor is absolutely a must Must make a reservationWe also indulged in the sunset champagne lounge in the bay A little pricey but honestly not a lot of places where this is available

Pretty bar overlooking some of the city I didn’t stay here but wanted to visit the bar Hotel is gorgeously decorated 💛Was able to order drinks , but wanted to order food and they never came around

This was for several tables A few people were having to almost walk out before the servers saw them and charge for their meal/ drinksThe servers were working but there just wasn’t enough And they looked like they were also working above in the pool areaDidn’t make reservations *

as i’m sure others are, i was a bit hesitant on staying here due to some of the other reviews but i could not have been more satisfied with my stay i am a frequent traveler and enjoy boutique properties over chain hotels & i would consider my expectations to be pretty high i did not experience a single issue during my stay

the property is absolutely beautiful, the rooms are very nice & very clean, the staff was overly friendly and helpful & we loved being able to have access to the sister property next door i would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to San Juan & i can’t wait to revisit!

We had the 2 queen and a pull out couch, the room was excellent very clean and spacious it had a table with 4 chairs and a desk with a very well lit vanity People in the front desk are extremely helpful and very nice They offer a small breakfast that includes bagels and cream cheese toast and jam and a small variety of cereal coffe juice and milk the only thing is that they do not have parking there is a lot across the street that offers 10 overnight parking

Close to a very beautiful beach

The room is alright, it gets a 2 because the staff are nice other than that:1 The standard room is super small2 There are no windows (the window it do have, the air conditioner is there, so you can’t see anything)3

They served us spoil orange juice for breakfast4 The breakfast is meat, cheese & bread everyday5 All the photos of the surrounding areas are photos near the Hilton (The Hilton is 2 mins away)6 The room is dirty, when you first walk in there was a large red stain on the floor I asked if we could switch rooms for several reasons including because of this stain, the front desk lady told me that the hotel is overdue for a deep cleaning 🤢7 I had to ask for towels & a remote these things should’ve been in the roomOverall the entire stay I felt like I was in jail! No natural sunlight was getting into my room, I asked for a different room, the clerk said they were all booked, but during my entire stay, I never seen guest in the lobby, hallway, or elevator There are much better options in the area! If you are like myself & like to do things near & at the hotel, this hotel is not for you!

The room was clean, newly renovated, all the necessary amenities you need for a one night stay Not very large, actually small, with the bed, 2 luggages + me and my wife, we occupied the whole floor space Breakfast in the morning

pathetic, no coffee, no milk, no utensils, plates I ate 2 slices of bread with butter and 4 remaining small slices of cheese to put in my toast In their defense, it seemed that the receptionist was doing everything Still, for the price we paid, I was expecting much more

My husband and I stayed at Casablanca hotel June 16-19, and I wanted to post a review because there were a couple of negative reviews that made me question our choice before our trip Let me say that this hotel is gorgeous, comfy, and in a great location and those reviews do not do the hotel justice It is what it is, a boutique hotel in a historical building, but it is so full of charm, and the owners have done an amazing job of using the available space

We stayed in a king bed room on the second floor, and it was very roomy, much bigger than a normal hotel room, with a sitting area Our “windows” faced the interior (enclosed) courtyard, but let in plenty of natural light, and the shutters could make the room as dark as night, which made for great sleeping-in time The bedding was soft and thick, and the air conditioner in the room let us keep it nice and chilly There was not a closet, but there was an area to hang our clothes The bathroom itself was small, but the shower was hugeThere is a Cafe and bar in the hotel, and you are steps away from dozens of shops and restaurants There are TWO rooftops- one with soaker tubs and the other with three partitioned Jacuzzis, and plenty of lounge seating on both, with gorgeous views of the cityParking is two small blocks away, and you get a discount from the hotel, it is only $14 a night When we take our next trip to Puerto Rico, we will definitely stay here again!

I can not wait to return (I am very lucky to live in Puerto Rico) The service was amazing (front desk), the room was extremely clean (very comfortable bed), and the 3 hot tubs on the roof made it the perfect Valentine’s Day/Night stay cation The room was worth the price (around $130)

I did not get the chance to try the restaurant, but the food looked good The location is also perfect and the parking garages (public) are the next street over

Michael Henne

This location is fantastic The hotel has hot tubs and deep bath tubs up on the roof that were great late at night They also have an arrangement with the nearby parking garage that’s only $13/day

Breakfast was charged separately, but very good They have a small bar that opens at 6:00 pm But what makes this a 5 star is it’s location
