Quaint and extremely convenient to little shops and places to eat in Lewes We literally walked to a nearby pavilion to listen to a live band after dinner The hotel itself had the feel of old, classic, beach

There were beautiful fresh flowers and the staff were friendly and professional The room itself (we reserved the last available) was a nice size, corner – very clean It could have easily accommodated a king bed, but had a queen in it That being said, the bed was very comfortable with good pillows and bedding – very important to us It had an interior cooling unit which I normally do not prefer, but this one was fairly quiet and did not distract The TV was in a cabinet and quite small, but since we were not there to watch TV, we didn’t care Our friends were in a different room with a king bed, big TV, and nice balcony – we would try to reserve that room type for a future, long trip The bathroom was traditional without issue The morning breakfast appeared to offer what we would enjoy, but since we had breakfast plans elsewhere, we did not partake Overall, we liked this hotel and would return

Carolyn Baier

We had often seen the Inn and when we reviewed it online it looked wonderful We were disappointed! Our room on the 4th floor was dated or out-dated! The room smelled musty The rugs did not appear to be clean

The furniture was old and was not inviting because it looked dirty The mattress was one of the worst ever and yet the bedding gave a great appearanceThe continental breakfast was fine and had a lot of varietyUnfortunately, we would not recommend the Inn as it did not meet the expectations we have come to expect!

We just spent our anniversary weekend here, and overall, it was wonderful I’d mentioned when booking that it was for our anniversary, and to celebrate us, they brought a surprise complimentary bottle of wine and fruit and cheese board to our room, which was awesome The staff was friendly and helpful

The room was clean, and the view was lovely The fitness room was nice (definitely appreciated the free water bottles in the mini fridge there), and the soaking pool was great We had breakfast at Victoria’s one of the mornings, and the food was delicious Overall, we had a great time and great experience We’d definitely stay again

You pay A LOT for this place!!! It’s a 4 star hotel conveniently located on the boardwalk at Rehoboth beach but you pay a pretty penny Be aware that you pay a pretty hefty occupancy tax daily per person!!! On top of your daily rate! Room service was not that great Would not clean the floors in the rooms or they wouldn’t give you enough towels for everyone

I had to ask for everything every day or get it myself! The good service was the restaurant, Victoria’s that’s part of the hotel when you dine in or in room And you automatically get charged 18% gratuity for room service from the restaurant I have paid less for a 5 star hotel with better service The location is what you pay for Also has a small indoor/outdoor heated pool They have a lot of parrots in their lobby and sometimes you have to scream and talk over the parrots in order to speak to anyone in the front desk!

Lauren Sherwood / Olszewski

The room was amazing we got the deluxe suit with hot tub in our room so relaxing The restaurant was fancy & food was amazing We had a very welcoming experience everyone was really nice & polite, definitely a relaxing atmosphere definitely recommend this hotel

I loved all the different exotic birds they had in the lobby of the hotel, also you could hold a few of them and they would climb up on your shoulder Really great experience definitely plan on returning in the future

From the moment we checked in until the very last night, everything about our stay was fantastic I only wish I could give more than 5 stars Marie was the front desk person and our first point of contact

Since we had never been here before, she first made sure we knew about the hotel’s many amenities and then answered our many questions about the areaShe truly went out of her way to ensure we had an incredible stayThe property is in excellent shape and our room far exceeded our expectations The proximity to the beach is perfect, although the weather was still a bit too cold to go out thereWe LOVE this hotel and Rehoboth Beach! We highly recommend Beach View to families, couples and anyone that wants to enjoy their stay at the Delaware Beaches

Alan Jones

What a wonderful place to stay! Steps from the boardwalk, you are treated well from the moment you arrive by the friendly, helpful staff

they asked about our breakfast order (complimentary) informed us about their wine, cheese and crackers starting at 5pm and fresh baked chocolate chip cookies starting at 8pm Parking is included That’s a big deal if you know about parking in downtown Rehoboth They will also provide you with beach chairs too at no additional cost The room was nice and clean I especially liked the screen door There’s a small pool I enjoyed my stay at Beach View Hotel so much that I booked another reservation while onsite

Michael DiMaina

August 2022 First let me say the staff is very nice Location very close to beach and the boardwalk

Where I get to 2 stars is the motel itself is in desperate need of a major renovation It would be one thing if were $99 a night, but at $350 per night mid week it’s very very sub parThe owners need to upgrade the place asap

I recently stayed at the blue water houseAfter my stay, I received a voicemail from Rick A screenshot of the transcription of this message is attached to this review

The tone and contents of his message are so far beyond unprofessional that they cannot even be measured on that scaleThis message is flatly insulting to both me and my wife It is also harassing and threatening I won’t accept being spoken to like thisAs a follow up to this message, I called Rick back at my first convenience He told me “I’m with a guest” and ended the call Not long after, I received a call from Tony, who offered very little reason for the outburst other than to sheepishly try to explain away the actions of his boss by telling me that he’s “a high stress guy” and “a hothead”None of this did or does anything to make up for the awful words of Rick I told Tony that I would appreciate an APOLOGYIt has now been a week and I have not received any such apologyTo add additional context to my disappointment, we were also given the incorrect room Also attached to this review is my confirmation in the Key LIME room, we were given the inferior Key LARGO room and told they’re all the same they are notDuring our 2 night stay, we left the room for several hours during which time we switched our door placard from “Do not disturb” to “please clean room” and nothing was touchedPlease do not stay here unless you want to be harassed and threatened for normal use of a rented room

No way to describe this key west themed, small and low key funky! A sensational treat for your senses from fabulous bronzes to the Manager’s son’s art—every wall in room and hallways and all 3 floors! As friendly as it gets, the Blue Water offers up a breakfast that is overwhelming and delicious! Homemade by Tony…”I have pancakes, waffles, scrambled eggs, omelettes, chainsaw alerts, vegetable omelette, any breakfast meat you’d like I made fresh muffins this morning along with health bars and a special spice cake”There are bagels cereals and anything to go out for a quick American breakfast if you like that instead of feasting out!

It was my first time as a guest and I will definetly be back! The property is charming with a great mix of the old and new I love that the owners have maintained the integrity and character of a 150 year old property while still including modern conveniences My room was very clean, bed was comfortable and all was safe and secure

The location is perfect, close to everything but just off the main strip so it’s nice and quiet all day Walker and his coworker at the front desk were exceptional! My A/C decided to stop cooperating and they took care of everything right away! No hassle! Staff were friendly and personable and I look forward to my next stay

Karen Ross

We were out in a “side building” not the main hotel and on the third floor Stairs are very narrow and steep Girl at check in was not friendly at all

Room was so small that they could not put the sink in the bathroom and your knees hit the bathroom door when you used the toilet It was so stinking hot on the third floor too Would not recommend unless you knew you were staying in the main hotel I felt like we were castoffs and charged an exuberant amount for the room Room smelled musty and was very dustykinda broken down Will never stay there again

Jamie Penrose

We have been coming to the Chalfont for years The staff is so friendly and the rooms are always clean It’s so aesthetically beautiful that we decided to elope there this spring! Everything was more perfect then we could have imagined! It’s located with a walking distance to downtown shopping, great resturants, and the beach

We highly recommend it!

This used to be one of the best places to stay in Cape May we stayed there for over 20 years the food was awesome the owner was a sweet heart who really cared about her guest experiences Unfortunately she passed away a couple of years ago My rating is for how it was then, Now its under new management

And since we have not been back and do not plan on going back (read further) I cannot give it a fair rating I can only advise based on my past experienceI just looked at the website and was thinking of booking for October of this year our usual time to book there I was utterly shocked at the cost of the rooms I understand they renovated but those prices are simply outrageous With no extras, no breakfast included ,that was one of those things anyone who booked there looked forward too every year Also saw another reviewer from May of this year confirming that things are not like they were over there I for one will be staying clear of the new Inn of Cape MayI will just have to enjoy the memories of what it once was and the many happy years our family had there when my daughter was growing up

L M

This review is about the decor only I haven’t stayed there; I just walked through The decor is not befitting a Victorian inn, nor does it seem cohesive

Here are just a few things I noticed:1) All the rocking chairs that were once on the porch are now on the lawn There is barely any lawn left, just a sea of chairs They’re set up in rows, as if for a game of musical chairs And you cannot see the ocean either, so you’re staring at Beach Ave2) Now, “The Porch” is actually a named lounge area (with many sofas facing AWAY from the ocean) It is set up with tables for two as well If you’re the type who might just want to go read a book on the porch while sitting in a rocking chair, it isn’t set up for that now3) The restaurant is minimalist—to a fault It almost looks unfinished—no plants, no flowers, just bare black and white I prefer the coziness of a Victorian inn (which is the expectation when people go to Cape May)4) The bar itself looks the same, but the chairs are black and white wicker—-which contrasts sharply with the mahogany bar5) The lobby looks very neat and clean The chairs are old, though, and many don’t seem to go together (lack of cohesiveness, as I mentioned)Overall, I think longtime customers of the Inn at Cape May will be disappointed with the current decor

Liz Wilson

This is a beautiful, historic building with plenty of charm, right across the street from the water The hotel restaurant was very good (we tried both their breakfast and dinner), I’d go back just for the food The location is amazing, and the vintage elevator is a must-see as well

But you are primarily trading comfort for style The layout of the room was awkward and made no sense, as do many older hotels However, the big issues I had were the pillows that were paper thin, a very squeaky ceiling fan, and no extra blankets (in late fall) All in all, I didn’t sleep well during my time there I consider it more of a cool experience to do once, rather than any desire to stay there again

It really is a perfect location My family has vacationed here for almost 40 years We feel very much at home when we visit

Kids love being there The staff has always been and continues to be attentive, accomodating and friendly The pool and grounds are immaculate considering the volume of daily activity Would be nice to have a microwave in the efficiency kitchen

Maria D

I’m not sure if all rooms are like the one I stayed in, Room 213? It was a nice size suite with 2 updated bathroom & nice size efficiency kitchen However this place could easily get 5 stars if they replaced or even deep cleaned the carpeting It was disgusting & no outlet in baths to blow dry or iron your hair

The 1st night there were no coffee cups in the room Had to ask for them for the second day The couches & chairs need to be replaced as well They looked dirty & dingy The lighting was not the best Overall, these things gave the room a dirty, old & dingy appearance

Iryna Mak

Maybe there is some other Capri motel that people are writing positive reviews about The Capri we’ve been to was dated, the room and the elevator smelled horrible I felt like in a dungeon with extremely old furniture

The tv was very small and outdated The motel looks good on the outside, old smelly carpet inside Also, $20/day for beach chairs just an fyi Good parking and location

We love Cape May, and the last time we were there, we saw Ocean Club Cape May and knew we wanted to stay there on our next visitIt did not disappoint! Our room was very much a standard hotel room – very comfortable and exactly the space we needed (and the VIEW! We loved loved loved the ocean view) What we loved about this hotel, though, were the people

This trip was a big deal for us because it was our first trip away from home with our baby I want to give a shout-out to Torey, who not only eased my mind when I called in advance about a crib setup for our daughter, but talked me through options once we arrived about where I could store her bottles most safely (the mini fridge in the room turned out to work great, but he was so considerate and understanding of what we needed to make sure our baby girl had a great vacation, too)Also, do yourself a favor and order some of the chocolate cake from the hotel restaurant It was such a delicious treat after a long day of exploring the areaOcean Club is definitely worth a stay! Thanks, Ocean Club team, for a great experience!

A War

Penthouse just means top floor don’t let yourself believe it might be fancy There was only one very narrow and aged elevator We had to wait for two separate families to descend from our floor before we were able to fit

I saw another reviewer mention how uncomfortable the beds were and that they woke up with neck pains, and honestly none of the four of us slept very well either we kept waking up to fidget with our pillows and adjust our bodies The private beach had chairs and a single umbrella set up for you but it was so incredibly packed in that you can’t enjoy the sounds of the ocean over all of the conversations around you If you experience sensory overload this is your warning it’s incredibly loud and overlapping and stressful We were charged $720 (plus $100 in taxes for Jersey) so we assumed it might be very nice, for a very narrow room with only two chairs to sit in and when someone sat in a chair you could not walk around them so you ask them to stand or clamber over the bed We couldn’t play the card game we brought because there was no table or open space to gather It was very difficult to maneuver around the room because of the narrow walk space so if you have any accessibility problems or a bigger body I advise you to reconsider Room did not come with a fridge for that price in case you thought to bring creamer for your keurig, and bathroom was even smaller What’s interesting is there wasn’t even a curtain rod to hang your bathing suits or beach towels over, working space was very limited for the price I don’t advise you hanging things over the balcony either due to the ocean breeze so it ended up in a wet pile on the floor We only had maybe 3 outlets in the entire room, in a lamp we couldn’t charge unless the light was on, a floor lamp, and I believe one in the bathroom Distance to the beach was great Staff working at the hotel were very kind and welcoming The room itself was a huge detractor from the experience

Gregory Dodd

Exceeded expectations Incredible staff works diligently to cater to your family Exceptionally clean and updated

Private beach with chair/towel service Honestly, simply perfect Pool feels like you’re at a Caribbean resort Private ample parking Pillows could be better but that’s if I’m searching for a complaint Will definitely be back again and again Highly recommend!!!

Very enjoyable and pleasant hotel The views are stunning from the ocean view rooms The heated pool was a plus for the kids

And the live music each evening was enjoyable at night time viewing from our balcony We will be back It’s a 5 min drive into the Washington Mall town but parking wasn’t too bad Beach access from the hotel is super easy and their beach service is helpful

We booked a room at this hotel yesterday I received a call today asking about our kids The website provides two drop down boxes to indicate the number of adults and children staying in the rooms

I indicated there would be 2 adults and 2 children The website asked for kids ages but only allowed up to age 6 (it did not say anything about children above age 6 needing to be included in the adult totals) In the notes of our reservation I indicated that our children are ages 9 and 11 The woman who called me today said that I should have included my kids in the adult count and that we would be charged an extra $5000 per day (an extra $20000 total for our trip) If this had been clear on the website when booking I would have no problem at all paying It was not clear and to find out a day after booking that we would incur such a fee feels like terrible customer service I have never experienced this with any other hotel that I have booked for our family (everything is always upfront when booking) Surely a simple update on the website can resolve the miscommunication Rather than waiving this unknown fee, they did cancel our reservation without a charge I personally think the time to advise about the additional fees would be at the time of booking, not a day later

My son and I did a quick mommy and me getaway and stayed at the Periwinkle- it was lovely! The woman who greeted us at the front desk was so sweet and accommodating We were able to park at the hotel before check -in, change in the lobby bathroom and walked across the street to the beach The pool and courtyard were perfect after a day at the beach

Our room was clean and cool! We will definitely be back for another visit soon!!

I am a budget traveler and I’m always trying to find the best price mixed with the best rated hotel for any trip we take I go back and forth and back and forth between multiple hotels whenever my family is booking a trip and it takes me forever to finally decide I am so glad I decided to book at the Periwinkle Inn

My husband and I had a fantastic stay! As far as Cape May goes it is a very pricey area no matter where you land for your accomodations The Periwinkle met our expectations and we were pleasantly surprised with the amenities The room was clean and had great beds We like that we had a little kitchen area and a table with chairs in the room and then a patio with another set of table and chairs and two loungers to use There was a large green space with lawn games and a fire pit for night time The pool was perfect and the location of our room couldn’t be better The hotel is right across from the beach, you can’t get any closer than that The parking was great and we didn’t have to worry about not finding a spot if we decided to leave at any point The staff was very courteous and they even have one of those little golf carts to take you around for free We’ve stayed at other noisy places in Cape May and we’re not happy At the Periwinkle everyone was quiet and respectful We have bounced around at different places in Cape May but now I’ll just go to the Periwinkle Inn from now on

Carol Glass

We really appreciated how clean and recently renovated the room was, plus the bed was very comfortable and it was great to have a sofa and table/chairs along with a kitchenette Although we didn’t use the pool, it was nice to have outdoor lounge chairs to sit and read (in addition to the balcony), and the grounds were attractive We would definitely consider staying here again!

Nice hotel The only complaint is the bathrooms are small They replaced the old continental breakfast with warm breakfast options which you pick from and they have it ready at the time specified

I would like to see the pop-tarts, mini- donuts ,etc for those who just want a snack type breakfast They do have muffins, bagels and a waffle maker The staff is super friendly and helpful Parking lot is tight Easy access to the beach Our family has been coming to this hotel for a week in the summer for 30+ years

First time to the Delaware beaches and we absolutely loved our stay at the Atlantic View!! Perfect for kids with pool and right on the beach with direct access Loved that they had complimentary beach chairs, breakfast, and cookies each night Staff was amazing and very friendly/helpful

Rooms are clean – the bathrooms are small but other than that it was the perfect spot!

Kristy Leppla

We really enjoyed our stay The place is clean, staff is friendly We loved the breakfast and the cookies in the evening

Wine and cheese offered every night and can’t beat the location, steps away from the beach The pool is a little small and we could hear people walking around in the room above us late at night Those are the only two complaints They even gave both of my girls balloons for their birthday We will be back!

Avondale by the Sea is a great place to stay Staff is very friendly and extremely helpful, rooms are immaculately clean, within walking distance to everything you would want to do or see beach, shopping, site seeing and restaurants Would highly recommend this place to everyone considering a visit to Cape May

PS: This may seem kinda dumb in a review but the beds are best I have ever slept in (even my own) If you have a bad back, which I do, these beds are great, I would wake refreshed and pretty much without back pain Top Notch

We recently stayed at the Atlantic Sands for a 4 day getaway and we really enjoyed it Keep in mind that we went in the off season so there were a lot of things nearby that were closed, but we liked the hotel It’s definitely an older hotel, but it is kept very clean and everyone we talked to were very friendly and helpful

The room was clean and we always had hot water for showers The view from the balcony was amazing and the beds were comfortable We didn’t use housekeeping so we can’t speak tothat, but the Sands keeps the place very cleanRecommendations on places to eat were excellent Even though it was off season we still found great places to eat and shop, and the boardwalk is nice for taking a walkWe both agreed we would stay at the Atlantic Sands again

My best friend and I had a girls getaway in October 2021 at The Sands and it was a great stay We had an oceanfront room which was amazing! The hotel location is literally steps from the hotel entrance to the boardwalk Our room was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the location can’t be beat

I have only good things to say about the staff who were polite, helpful, and fun to talk with The restaurant recommendations were on point; we took the staff’s suggestions and enjoyed every meal On-site parking is a plus If you can do the stairs, they’re faster than the elevators I love the “old” look of the hotel, it’s kind of kitschy and cool A few updates to the rooms would be nice to brighten them up a bit, but really, no complaints here Will be staying again in May and truly looking forward to it!

So this place’s location is awesome; that’s for sure the main thing you pay a premium for It’s walking distance to everything right on the beach boardwalk But sadly that’s where the positive aspect ends, as the quality of this hotel is a huge letdown

It’s cheap-motel quality, at best You’ll notice many wall/floor/exterior finishes are peeling or crackingThe hallways and stairwells reeked of cigarettes and ammonia, at least during our stay The rooms are sadly no better, as ours had used coffee cartridges in the trash bin and a half-eaten sandwich in the fridge when we checked in The ceiling fan in the bathroom dangled by a wire, the bed linens felt sandy/coarse, and the TV didn’t really work either The AC unit was unusually loud and even the table lamps had missing buttons and bulbs None of these issues by themselves are generally dealbreakers for us, but altogether resulted in a big disappointment for the price We were totally bummed after reading many positive reviews and won’t be returningI will say the staff are helpful and friendly, and the room balconies are a nice touch Parking was also easy and available, and again the location is amazing If this place could get a makeover or at least better maintenance/cleaning, it could be really special

Horrible service, poor quality rooms The rooms were damp The beds were extremely uncomfortable

My wife and I could barely sleepThe pillows were half the size of a normal pillow The tv had no signal The hallways reeked of weed When I asked multiple times for a blanket for the bed due to sub-par sheets and blankets on the bed originally, I was told no that they didn’t have one So a whole hotel doesn’t apparently have a single blanket The staff was rude when I asked as well I can’t believe I spent 1,000 dollars for 3 nights for this place I’ll make sure every other website they’re on gets the same review

Jenna Kealer

Average at best hotel Not worth the expensive price in the summer Walls were paper thin so you can hear everything in the hallways and the rooms next door

Our hairdryer in the room did not work so we called the front desk to ask for a replacement and they did absolutely nothing about it, and basically said “sorry, we don’t have an another” You cannot advertise online that we would have a working hairdryer in the room if it does not work and you have no solution to fix it Towels were small and scratchy Would recommend staying somewhere else if you are staying in Dewey Beach

Mark Bortle

Great room for the price 2 minute Walk to beach On beach side

Great assortment of coffee in lobby including hot chocolateParking wasn’t a problem, 18ft truckWithin walking distance of some great restaurants and novelty shops

Stayed here for a one night stop over off season Room was bright and nicely decorated Beautiful view of the ocean from the room and the balcony

Nice extras like a small fridge and coffee pot that makes 2 cups at a time Plus, plenty of towel hooks in the bathroom so you really can reuse your towel! We had a nice dinner next door too We’d love to come back when it’s warmer!

A really charming little hotel with amazing views of the Atlantic Ocean The lobby and guest rooms have a clean, modernist vibe (sort of a Copenhagen meets Martha’s Vineyard kind of thing) Staff were pleasant, professional, and accommodating

There’s nice seafood focused restaurant on site and a very convenient wine shop attached to the building

Husband and I stayed in the Celebration Suite for three nights and absolutely loved it It was our first time staying in Cape May and we’ll definitely come back to The Grand Hotel Great location, very clean and a friendly staff

You must try the food at Hemingway’s if staying, it’s excellent! Another plus is the beach food service and the poolside food and beverage service It’s a lovely place and we look forward to another visit!

Beware! Hotel is under construction We showed up at 2:15 for a 4:00 check in That is a late check in time but at least we where aware of it

We waited until after 4 for text to tell us room # and room was ready Had to go to front desk Gentleman at front desk said room was not ready so he got the manager Manger gave us our room but said semi-private balcony would be closed until following day We ungraded after booking for the balcony It is now 2:42pm the second day and balcony is not open and all I hear are power tools and all I see are construction workers in our Ocean view The manager on staff did understand and compensated for lack of use of balcony and construction Staff has been helpful Rooms are also very clean and updated When construction is complete this will be a great hotel for honeymoon or family Will be 4 1/2 stars

KG Gunderson (Gundament)

Overall it’s a really nice and aesthetically pleasing hotel I love the fact that there’s a little Game Room/Arcade Also the Indoor and Outdoor Pool are nice

As far as the quality of the room I stayed in, it was okay However, what we assumed was going to be a “partial ocean view” was actually blocked by a garage roof and AC Condenser units on top of it We were lucky if we were able to see a small sliver of an ocean wave Also, since our room was attached to the garage roof, we did not have a balcony, it was more like an enclosed porch, with windows that didn’t properly lock But luckily the porch has a deadbolted door between it and the room so we still felt safe I would definitely recommend this hotel, however I’d probably try to stick with a full ocean view if you want to be sure to have a nice view

This was our first time staying here We didn’t find anything to complain about The room was tastefully decorated and very spacious

The entire staff, from the maids to the general manager were great Always had a nice smile and pleasant greeting The complimentary breakfast was an added bonus along with the free ride to and from the beach We also enjoy the complimentary wine and fresh baked chocolate chip cookies every day So happy with everything we booked 2 more stays when we checked out

My best friend and I went down for a girl’s weekend (we are 40+) We really had a great time! All of the staff were very friendly The room was nice and very clean

comfortable We were happy that they had parking available but be mindful that you can only park one car; if there is a second vehicle (eg If you meet there like we did), you have to park the other car a few blocks away The breakfast was a bonus- just wish they offered a few more vegan options or the option to request your pancakes/waffles/butter etc “veganized” Beach was niceVERY crowded and the day we went, the surf was rough But it’s very nice that the hotel offers a shuttle & they provide you with chairs and towels so all we had to bring was our umbrella DEF plus! There’s also a restaurant right in the hotel which is perfect if you don’t feel like going out to get food It gets pretty busy in there around dinner time But there are tons of restaurants in the area in general so there’s no shortage of places to eat– but I would recommend making a reservation if you can We had a great stay and I would definitely go back there again!
