Construction on the floor above started at 7 am Wasn’t informed before booking It’s annoying when you need sleep, as the weather was hot and exhausting

A vacation nightmareOn a good note, the pool was spacious and relaxing like bathwater Could have had more umbrellas for shade, as NC is hotService n/a, but staff was very friendly People in the south are super friendlyBeds felt like soft clouds A lot of charging ports in the rooms Automatic air conditioningAmple parking lots Parking spaces are incredibly thin Not good for larger vehicles Perhaps a designated area for larger vehicles?Spacious refrigerator in room is a plus Can hold 2 gallon jugs of water and food for a few meals No microwave, but I eat raw, so it was greatAs sleep is important for alertness and functioning, the only disappointment was the constant knocking on the floor above my bedThanks for reading ❤️

Spent a couple of nights there with my wife while she attended a conference at the hotel Room was clean and neat, bedding was comfortable with plenty of pillows Room had small refrigerator, desk space plus a comfortable chair with foot stool

My wife had a $20 hamburger from the hotel restaurant but I didn’t try the food She said the meeting spaces were good with a variety of setups and meeting room sizes available Staff was friendly and helpful as needed

I stayed here for 3 nights on a business trip The hotel is fine and provides all the basics you need for a business trip The hotel has a nice lobby with lots of space to sit comfortably while charging your devices, nice and spacious meeting rooms and a cozy bar to hang out after hours

Currently the breakfast is served at the cafe in the lobby and you can pick from menu items — so no continental buffet — whichI liked However the rooms could be much better for a 4-star hotel My room had cracked walls, dysfunctional power outlets and leaking bath tubFor those who like their morning runs or enjoy walking around, there is a 4-mile walking path/trail that you can access by exiting the hotel parking from Slater Rd and then crossing the street

For the hotel itself? Five star experience, no question about it From the valet, to the folks checking you in- you’ll never find a more pleasant staff than you do here Almost everything I asked for was met with “of course”

The only negative that I experienced was saying on multiple occasions when asked if I was celebrating anything special was that I wanted to make this stay truly special and celebratory because I was FINALLY doing something for myself after 13 years and 5 children, but I think being a mom and finally getting the chance to do something for myself is not necessarily a celebratory event I’m a bit sad that my very serious request to make this stay as special as possible was ignored, especially knowing the lengths the hotel has gone through for friends on just regular staysThe Heron- I’m completely upset and almost scared to go back here I had a 1030am reservation for brunch, my server approached me about 3 times in the 2 hours I was here Upon approaching the manager about feeling disregarded, she argued with me that she was sure that was not his intent (impact vs Intent should definitely be discussed) This was neither helpful nor a solution to the issue The worst part of it was the staff talking about me smoking as a direct insult to me bringing up the lack of service 1 I asked to sit outside to be able to smoke, 2 There is no signage or anything I could see that lets you know what part of the patio is ok to smoke on, and 3 I immediately moved as soon as I was made aware The only “good” interaction was the front desk employee, I believe Rachel was her name, who was the only one to ask how my service and meal was, who complemented my head wrap, and told me how wonderful my perfume was It’s almost painful to write this review, as a black woman if I point out flawed service I’m “angry” As a black person, I’m just looking for something for “free” Upon hearing my complaint the manager offered to “send something up to my room”, and after paying my bill, STILL tipping my server 20%, and the total amount of money I’ve spent there since the beginning of my stay it felt like a gross insult Will a $15 dessert sent up to my room change my dining experience? Will it change how hostile it feels knowing how I was referred to? Will it change arguing with me about intent? No

I had an interesting experience during my stay at the Umstead I went for a work trip celebration- I think we had a total of 10 rooms booked They did allow me to check-in early which was great

I was staying by myself and had a great corner room overlooking the pool with a large balcony I was getting settled in and had just taken a shower and an employee walked into my room without knocking I am not sure what the policy is, but being such a prestigious hotel, and employee should first check to see if anyone has booked the room and if they couldn’t do that, then at least knock first before entering without warningOf course I was startled and screamed because I wasn’t expecting anyone to be in my roomI called down to the front desk just to let them know what happened and to advise their staff to knock before entering a roomBesides that strange experience, the spa service was good, as was room service for breakfast and later that nightI am not sure if I would go out of my way to stay there again, but overall it is a nice hotel

Catherine Lowe

I had a amazing deep tissue massage with Kyle, I highly recommend him! The spa still limits guests to 1 hour for use of amenities after your service, which is a bit frustrating In addition, locals are limited to booking spa appointments as they are held for hotel guests only Hopefully in the future they will consider changing this policy as it is very hard to get an appointment

Overall the facility is super clean and spa service was outstanding as always!

Rerouting Pleasure House Rd creates issues getting in and out of Airgate Dr Once you’ve navigated it, it isn’t too bad but the navigation systems (at least mine) have not caught up with the change

Otherwise it is a convenient location to the airport, Brier Creek shopping and highways (I40 and 540) to take you anywhere They also provide an airport shuttle which is very much appreciatedRooms are clean and comfortable Staff is helpful and attentiveBreakfast is adequate with hot and cold options along with juices, coffee and teaI have been using this hotel for many years and will continue to do so

We actually did not end up staying here We had a reservation for 3 nights and when we arrived, we were dissatisfied with the room and checked out The rooms are just very run-down

Our room had an odd smell to it, the carpet had lumpy spots throughout, the heater made a loud noise when running, bed and pillows were VERY worn Also, there was a hole in the door to the bathroom Overall, just not worth spending money to stay here, in my opinionI will say the staff was VERY friendly and made it simple/easy to cancel our reservation I was very thankful for that I just wish they would use some money to renovate throughout

I stay here every year around my birthday when I travel to visit my best friend and also travel to the beach The beach is two hours from here so a nice day trip As for here they are always friendly, accommodate my service dog and other small dogs, and it’s modern

I know I can count on it to be clean and reliable each time I visit The pool is heated and wonderful, although it’s currently closed for covid But in the past years I’ve enjoyed it They’ve got a bad and an area to hang out with other guests as well as a gym Definitely recommend

Juanita Covarrubias

Made a last minute trip to visit my son and was looking for a hotel near the airport The hotel looked great online and it offered airport shuttle so I was sold I arrived later in the evening and I waited about 15 minutes for the shuttle so that wasn’t bad

The driver was a little quiet and not very talkative I asked about eateries in the area since I hadn’t eaten all day and he wasn’t very helpful I still tipped him During checkout I found out by the front desk the shuttle can take you within 5 miles of the hotel Check in was quick The bar was open and was a bit rowdy The lobby looks like a dirty college recreation area Pool table looked rough When I asked the front desk while checking in about food options she gave me some places then stated they were probably closed I got out of the elevator and the hallway was dark and a bit creepy I can handle myself, but I didn’t feel the safest Hurried to my room The room was tiny and the bed looked like someone had been laying on it The AC was musty and dated The TV stopped working and had a No Signal message I called the front desk and she told me she didn’t know because I was the only one with the problem I ended up buying a frozen dinner, chips and drink from their food vending area for $15 There is no complimentary breakfast Everything had a price on it I paid $160 for the room, but no breakfast? I probably won’t stay there again

Chris White

Stayed there to catch a 6am flight and the shuttle started at 4am The staff was helpful Got dinner at the hotel and the wings were great

The breakfast was an addition to the room but was great – croissant with real eggs and real bacon The Tesla charger was one of the few configured correctly and showed was charging at 47 amps – 10 kW

The rooms have great decor Beautiful lamps and nice lounge chairs The bed is very comfortable

I enjoyed the shower with two shower heads Nice plush pillows and towels There is a restaurant and bar pool and Jacuzzi The bar serves drinks until 1am The pool is smaller than it looks on the picture The Jacuzzi could have been cleaner This really is a beautiful hotel and one of my favorites I really enjoyed my stay here and look forward to returning again soon Sorry I didn’t take pics I will next time

Janell MciLwain (That Real Estate Chick)

Was a little hesitant with the star rating but glad we booked The young lady that greeted us was so friendly We got there after 8 so we called to let them know we would be late

I was glad to meet her when we checked in She was pleasant on the phone and also in person Didn’t get a chance to get her nameThe lounge area was clean and the customers appeared satisfied with other staff members that were helping The rooms were clean, bed comfortable and great for an overnight stay No complaints at all

Marc Herschmann

I had the pleasure to spend the last few days at this hotel as I was in town for a gathering of some old friends from childhood It was my first visit to North Carolina and I can not imagine staying in a more comfortable or hospitable location I don’t even know where to begin, but I’m going to start with the most important thing- the beds! Wow! Like sleeping on a cloud! I can’t recall the last time I had a more restful sleep

The rooms were immaculate and the showers were terrific I can’t say enough about the staff, led by the hotel manager Bill who must be one of the nicest guys in the state! Just a really, really super stay Thanks so much, Marriott You nailed this one!!!

This hotel was a 10/10 the room was Large for just being a standard 2 double bed room Then the bathroom was So Large too with a LOT of counter space It was the perfect place for anyone needing to get to the airport for an early flight or picking someone up from a late one

Very easy check in process and fantastic customer service Plus bonus for adults with kids the pool was so kid friendly with the bottom floor having a back door so kids could walk out and parents could watch from inside or from the comfortable pool chairs My 11 year old daughter loves swimming and watching all the planes take off overhead! It was even fun for us adults Would love to go back again

Pros-Hotel is very well located for our trip Very well priced compared to the surrounding hotels Coffee and waffles are a plus in the morning

Staff is good avg Wendys is walking distance it you need a snack Pool is outsideCons-the rooms have everything you need tho are in need of some updating When we arrived it was 90+ outside and the room AC was not on No a big deal Also we ended up noticing someone had a pet in the hall we assumed the odor we catch every once I’m awhile it a pet odorOverall, for the duration of our trip the hotel is fine compared to others I’ve stayed in over the years For pet friendly hotel it very good If the trip was shorter I may have opted to stay at a slightly more newer/expensive but like I said for the price it not a bad deal I would recommend

Pradyumna Lakshmipuram

It’s great for the price! Got the suite and it was more space than we expected!Other reviews talk about no locks on bathroom door or the bedroom door, I can see if it bothers them, but for us, it was no botherThe suite was the price of a regular king in the neighboring hotels, so we thought it was a great value for the price Overall maintenance could be a little better though

My wife and I stayed for 3 nights, March 26-29 This was the friendliest hotel we ever stayed at Everyone that works there is beyond nice and made us feel like we were special

The breakfast was awesome and the shuttle service had no problem dropping us off at local shopping areas The room was so comfortable and had a fully equipped kitchen The sofa and living area was comfortable and the bed was huge as well as the 55 inch tv This place was so friendly, nice, clean, and comfortable, we will definitely be back

Nancy Caggia

Surprisingly great stay and would stay here again I’d give it a 45Pros:+King bed was extra wide (maybe a CA king?) and comfortable+Room darkening blinds did better than curtains+Shower pressure super strong+Kitchen was well stocked with cooking items, strainer, utensils, full refrigerator, microwave, stove top and a dishwasher!+Bathtub was clean and caulking white

I would have bathed my kids in there and I used to bring Scrubbing Bubbles back in the day+Lighting and desk space usable for work+Breakfast had decent options Coffee and tea all day/night (even had a small bar for those who want happy hour)+Safe well lit free parking+Super convenient location+Outdoor pool looked inviting, private/nicely landscaped and wish it was warmer out to enjoy itCons:-Carpet had some ugly stains and needed cleaning-My husband noticed a blood stain on comforter this am checking out but it was covered by white sheet so didn’t notice till now Maybe his tooth bled but I doubt it Thankful for the extra white sheets but kinda gross-It IS by an airport so there is some airplane noise at certain hours-Prior hotel manager promised a discounted rate and I wanted to see if it’d be honored still and spoke with Manager He assured me Sales manager would get back to me but after 3 calls/messages left with Sales dept and 2 back to Manager and no follow up The answer was obvious but a little follow up would have been professional thing++Kudos:maintenance personThe 1st room checked into had an ice maker making major noise I tried fidgiting with ice maker and noise would come back The maintenance person came immediately (after 6 pm even) and tried fixing it I wasn’t sure it wouldn’t make noises again so staff quickly agreed to switch rooms I like super responsiveness The maintenance person was incredibly polite and helpful Thank you

Maria Leonardi

Overall, I don’t regret staying here The price was good, bed was comfortable and I slept well which counts for a lot! It’s just ashame – there are a few minor things that could be improved to make this a great stay Especially for the several+ night business traveler

Pros:-Quiet-Comfortable bed-Convenient-Clean-Good space- kitchen and bathroom felt modern-Great little sitting area by the poolCons:-Kitchen has nothing useful in it I don’t even know why they bother having a stove The one pot they provide is a giant metal pasta potmaybe try a frying pan or large skillet?-Kitchen has no sponge or other cleaning implement Our brush was disgusting I though it might just be discolored but it ran brown in the sink-BBQ grill was broken-Fire pit was unusable Unbearable high- pitched noise and fire turned off automatically after about 5 minutes Really frustrating given that they highlight this on their website and it’s such a nice place to sit otherwise-Whatever they use to clean hard surfaces is oily/slick so wear socks

Our first room had an issue with the A/C but they promptly sent up someone to fix it When determined it wasn’t they quickly switched us to another room The front desk staff went above and beyond to help us get to airport in time for our flight

The staff seemed like a big family and we thoroughly enjoyed our very short stay The room was bigger than we anticipated, quiet & super clean, even though it was a little older We would definitely stay there again should the need arise

Rita Bliden

Located minutes from the airport, we arrived after 10pm Room was clean, pillows were disappointing, but that is a very personal preference The air conditioner was irratctactly noisy, and the refrigerator had an unnecessary loud hum

Our breakfast was amazing! The wait staff was friendly, fun, and just the right amount of attentive Our omelets were made to order and we could put as many items in as we wanted I said this may be the best hotel breakfast i had ever had Good coffee and comfortable seating made for a great morning

Joseph Spampinato

I stay here on business frequently Being a road warrior I like to think I’m a good judge of value and hospitality The hotel is clean and well kept, the amenities function as they should, the location and access to points east and west is ideal for someone who has to travel the state and call somewhere home away from home

Most of all, the staff is wonderful and welcoming and has not lost the point of working in the hospitality industry – being hospitable and courteous and extending great customer service I eat in the restaurant frequently because the food is good and the service great Although a standard fare for the brand, its cooked with care and better than many others that offer the same menu I give personal kudos to Sean, Tina, Fatima, Jimmy, Elvis, Tyler, Antonia and Ryan I have to think that the GM has high standards You can’t fake sincere hospitality For anyone I may have left out, it’s probably because I failed to get your name My name isn’t as it appears in the review header, because I like my privacy It you know me as Ed Thanks for making me comfortable in those times I’d rather be home but can’t

Our stay here was one of the best hotel stays I’ve had in a while! The staff; everyone from the front desk, to housekeeping, to facilities, were SO friendly and accommodating My husband had to work during our stay and the wifi was strong and there were plenty of little nooks to camp out in around the lobby when he wanted to leave the roomThe pool was HEAVEN for a toddler

Seriously, I would travel hundreds of miles for this pool It wore my kid out and I didn’t even have to get inEverything was clean and comfortable and the hotel smells amazing I’ll definitely be back when I’m in the area!

Traci BV

The rooms are nice, spacious and clean, we stayed for two nights The hotel staff was friendly Michelle, the manager is extremely nice and accommodate me for a one night stay after we tried to check in but was told all the rooms were sold out

Not sure how that could happen when we had a reservation Nevertheless, we were given a free night so it was ok The stay itself was anything but peaceful Constant jumping and running above our room the first night, then on night two screaming kids, loud TVs and running on the second night I dealt with both incidents for hours until I finally reached out to the hotel staff On night two of the loudness, I reached out to the staff at close to 10pm The staff came upstairs directly to the room that was making the noise on night two, so I appreciated that Although while lessened, they just turned up the TV extremely loud watching a movie until after midnight I just tried to fall asleep and eventually did Needless to say, it wasn’t an enjoyable or peaceful trip I used to enjoy staying here pre-pandemic Not so much now They are constantly booked to capacity it seems and I understand why, it’s in close proximity to a lot of places and walkable But, I can’t recommend this hotel because of the noise factor alone Either the walls are extremely thin or this hotel attracts very rude people Either way, I won’t be back Two stars for the staff

Room layouts are really thoughtful and spacious and comfortable Best I’ve seen Living room area with a pullout couch was great and the second sink for food prep and hand washing came in handy

I spent three nights here for a baseball tournament with my teenage son and three other players from his team, and we had everything we needed The staff were friendly and helpful All of this and they had the best price per person of any hotel of that quality in the area

My wife and I are both visually impaired, I am very low vision she has no usable vision Traveling can always be a bit stressful and frustrating Our first experience with this place was the use of its shuttle service and all I can say is “Wow”

We called the property while waiting at the airport and the shuttle driver could get park close to us due to the volume of traffic, but was kind enough to get out and assist us to the shuttle The driver was very friendly and we were very gratefulThe staff at the hotel has been excellent as well They have assisted us in figuring out where we are so we are not able to navigate the property without any assistance I only wish this was the case at other places, but believe me this is rare Typically when we travel people either give too much help, or do nothing I cannot say enough wonderful things about the people here The room was clean and in good order too

Katrina Coffin

Great location and the front desk staff was nice especially Phillip I stayed here for the weekend When I originally walked inside the room I liked it BUT when I did my observation I didn’t like that the bathroom was SUPER small

Lots of living room space but small bathroom and no microwave It was an inconvenience to go downstairs to warm up food I paid over $400 for a weekend and it definitely wasn’t worth the price The day of checkout housekeeping woke me up at 9:30am Checkout is at 12, smh We won’t be back

m upon check-in they said that the water would be off from these hours, but the water was off until after 5:00 pm That is a really long time to be without running water Water is very crucial in the mid-time of the day There is no water to access the shower, sink, and the toilet Imagine how gross that could beThe staff is very nice They have breakfast in the morning that includes a cold sandwich that you can heat up, yogurts, muffins and other items Items There is coffee out the majority of the dayThe rooms were clean and the room was very spacious I had a fridge and a microwave in my room I’m not sure if all the rooms are equipped with this, but you can request one upon checking inAll in all I enjoyed my stay And there is a hotel shuttle to and from the airport although it does not run all dayI apologize I did not take any pictures But I promise I will upload them next time

This was a quick one night stay Front desk staff very friendly Room was nice, very comfortable, clean

Good location Wish the grab and go breakfast selection was better As we were leaving to checkout, my daughter and I got stuck in the elevator for about 30 mins and the fire dpt had to come We were fine and had no problems, funny now Firemen were so kind and carried all of our luggage down the stairs Ladies at front desk were so shocked, apologetic and kind, and we had a little laugh I knew it was a fluke thing but I’m a little leary of elevators now I would stay here again though, nice hotel and staff Very memorable stay!
