We booked here at the last minute and paid over $450 for a small queen room The hotel boasts a historical feature The exterior is a charming old red brick and the location didn’t disappoint

Valet parking is a surface lot next to the hotel and was $40 additional The valet was courteous and helpfulWhen we approached the desk to check in, two staff members were chatting and another staffer was on the phone We stood there for more than a few minutes with no one acknowledging our presence The two chatting staffers never said “We’ll be with you in a minute” Or “George here will be with you as soon as he’s off the phone”Check in was quickThe room was very small and a bit sadly decorated It could use some repairs/updates, especially the wood furnitureThe TV is huge and hangs ominously/in-the-way/wobbly above the deskThe bed and all linens were wonderful – very comfortable and clean Likewise, the walk-in shower was a pleasure and the soaps/shampoo/lotions were exceptional

This review is based on value The lobby and front entrance were very nice, our room was ready earlier which was great Walking distance to most everything which was great

Costs for this size room were extremely high and set us up for higher expectations The room seemed a bit outdated with quite a few superficial imperfections The rooms are also susceptible to lots of noise We were awoken numerous times by loud bangs from the room above us or people making noise through the hallway Even the hallway itself where our room was felt like a different hotel then the lobby area The pool is very nice for an indoor pool and the roof top bar was nice, good views and live music Once you walk to the side or back of the hotel it also looks like a very different hotel than the front, wood trim needs maintenance and overall just felt run-down compared to the facade of the front If this was a $300ish per night hotel these are things that I would let slide but when charging over $600 for a single night stay in a basic small room expectations are much higher This seemed consistent with feedback we heard from others staying at the hotel while we had breakfast across the street

Maria Gamez

The staff was really friendly, kind, and respectful It’s centrally located and within walking distance of everything The valet staff were also terrific! That’s about the only good parts of this hotel

As soon as we entered our room we were concerned… the flushing knob on the toilet was broken We called the front desk to let them know but it was never fixed This set off a red flag, so I inspected the bed because I’m paranoid There were two HUGE wine (blood?) stains on the comforter, which were conveniently hidden by being tucked into the bed frame For the $150 pet cleaning fee we paid, this room was barely clean to begin withWe could hear the women in the rooms near us being obnoxiously loud until 3am The sound of doors being slammed by other guests and staff going into the utility closets across from us was a terrible way to be woken up at 6-7amI had high hopes for this “historic four star experience”, but those considering staying here should SIGNIFICANTLY lower their expectations

Value, location, staff, back lawn, and Emily were certainly wonderful along with all of the other friendly staff I sincerely hope people read this review and don’t go straight to the one star ratings who just have a ton of hate in their heart and no sympathy for the current state of the hospitality industry who are dealing with a surge in demand and staff that have had enough of terrible guests who expect the moon and act like they are royalty on vacation Yes, it isn’t the St

Regis, but you absolutely can’t beat the value you get for the price at this hotel The rooms weren’t anything extraordinary Slightly tired, but not bad at all, clean, and comfortable The back lawn had a wonderful view of the harbor, entertainment for the kids, and a great fire pit The location was PERFECT! There are a ton of restaurants/bars right by the hotel, and the sailing charters (We all loved going out on the “Madeline” Schooner) are right outside the side door of the hotel as well Unless you’re fine dropping a lot more money on a fancier hotel during high season, you should absolutely stay here I stay at some very high end hotels every year and will 100% stay here again Had such a great experience that am even thinking about going back this fall when the leaves change and the wind is even more ideal for sailing

Well, where do I start First of all I never complain and try to solve things But this hotel welcomed my wife questioning if she can afford the two most expensive rooms we booked because of her Hispanic appearance

Then we found our two rooms extremely dirty Stuff on the floor and definitely unchanged bedsheets and pillow covers Everything full of hairs and stains Other guests helped themselves by asking for clean sheets but I think for 3 k for two nights I can expect them to do that for me Then no apologies just telling me that if I want sheets they can’t tell me when that will happen Because of the whole customer service experience I decided to cancel both rooms and pay another 200 more per night to go to a different place But shoutout to the parking lot and employees These guys are actually nice and cool !!! Tip them!!!

Paul Naski

Really enjoyed our stay here!! The location both overlooking the harbor from our room and being able to walk to everything was the Centerpoint of this place!! However what made the place even better was how great the staff was every moment of our trip!! Extremely friendly and accommodating Can’t wait to come back here again next year!!

As we are disabled, we called the resort prior to arrival to request early entry to a room if available Guest Services Manager, Julian-Arp-Sandel answered and was Not willing to accommodate usHe said, “Just come in when you get here and we’ll see what we could do

“During our Entire Stay, Most interactions we had with Julian-Arp-Sandel, he was Tone Deaf, somewhat rude, obnoxious, standoffish and Not very customer service friendly At All, to say theleastThe Inn has a bar in it’s lower level and late nights all the way till 1AM they make a lot of noise and have music blaring constantly! The Police were called there at least 1 time! The manager unempathetically suggested that we wear ear plugs and had no other useful suggestion or resolution! This comment is Absolutely ubsurd, useless, unnecessary, disrespectful and unhelpful, Especially for a visually impaired guest! On the right, outside the entrance, there are several shattered panels of glass and spilling on the parking lot floor This is dangerous, completely unacceptable and unprofessional*There was No DVD Player in our room, as advertised, the ice maker was Broken And there were Several Disgusting things (maybe food or droppings) outsideour room on the carpeting and it was not cleaned up for the Entiretyof our stayA light and joy in all of this was the incredibly attentive, friendly, warm and welcoming Ayam’e, a front desk representative!Every single time we encountered her she engaged us in pleasantconversation, said hello, good day, is there anything I can do for you, please let me know, etc! This Inn would be a Lot Better served if you replaced Guest ServicesManager, Julian-Arp-Sandel! Jennifer Hernandez

I strongly recommend staying at this inn It’s fabulous! I was a little nervous before arriving because I’d never stayed at an inn before and don’t know the protocol However, the Serenity Inn staff made my friends and I feel very welcomed and at home as soon as we arrived

The furnishing is simple and cozy, making it very easy to settle in; not cluttered The spaces are kept very clean, and I say this as a person with high standards for cleanliness The area is quiet during the day and at night The breakfast – delicious! The location is walking distance from the wharf and shopping, and a short drive from several attractions; we didn’t drive more than 15 min at any given time This stay made me love Newport

Jenn Grimley

This was our first time at a bed and breakfast and it did not disappoint! The innkeepers were friendly and helpful, the room we stayed in (Room 2) was spacious and clean with a comfy bed The breakfasts each morning were incredibly delicious! The grounds were well kept and offered outside seating for the nice weather in the afternoons and evenings when we were there The inn was located within a short walking distance to restaurants, shops and the waterfront

It would have been nice to have a mini fridge in the room but the one provided in the hall to share served it’s purposeOverall I would definitely recommend staying here! It was a great backdrop for our anniversary getaway!

Christopher Lemmons

Serenity Inn is fantastic It’s located in a charming, quiet neighborhood just a 5 minute walk from all the restaurants and shops at Bowen’s Wharf There is parking for 7 vehicles on-site and overflow parking right up the street

The property itself is great – everything is well-maintained, immaculately clean, and visually pleasing We stayed in Room 11 which is a King bed room on the 3rd floor The room was very spacious and comfortable with everything we needed Bathroom is beautiful and the shower is great! Breakfast in the morning was delicious! Stuffed french toast with strawberries and bananas with sausage on the side That, in addition to all of the juices, coffee, tea, fruit and yogurt that are available HUGE thanks to Tania who greeted us upon our arrival, showed us to the room, and was free to answer any question we had at any time We will absolutely be returning to the Serenity Inn each time we visit Newport

My husband and & went up to Rhode Island on a last minute whim Memorial Day Weekend We were planning on staying at the Ocean House Last minute we decided to head over to Newport instead

We past the Brenton Hotel and though when was this built since we haven’t been to RI since COVID began Well, we decided to give it a try and bring business to a new establishment So glad we did! The Brenton is a boutique hotel that was beautifully designed Their decor was inviting and comfy The rooms were incredibly clean, robes, slippers, espresso machine and even a free ice cream bar There was not a thing missing to be sure you were extremely comfortable The staff was amazing! This is my new go to!! Try it if you’re ever heading that way The Brenton wont disappoint!!!!!

Alexandra Zecca

From the style, the beautiful and comfortable rooms and views, staff from checking in to helping us with our car/luggage, and Maurice the amazing bartender everything at the Brenton exceeded our expectations for our weekend in Newport! The food is also excellent to enjoy in their beautiful Living Room style bar lounge with the delicious cocktails If you are looking for a luxuriously relaxing place to stay for your weekend in Newport the Brenton is it! We will absolutely be back

Bill T.

Rooms are spacious with beautiful designs, and comfortable Rooms have free drinks (juice 🥤 & sodas), but alcohol is not free Extremely clean and bright, the room was perfect! Great views from the room,of the harbor with boats coming and going

The staff make this place! They were so awesome! Being pregnant getting comfortable is quite challenging and though it was a busy weekend at the hotel they did everything they could to hunt me down a few extra pillows Staff were always smiling and greeted you when they saw youBreakfast was what you would expect for it being included

Cereal, yogurt, fruit (bananas/apples) pastries, oatmeal, make your own waffle, bagels, eggs, and sausage Staff did really well at keeping items stocked up I thought it was great and we ate at the hotel for breakfast each day we were there!Only reason I’m taking off a star is because the room wasn’t very clean (Dingy tile in bathroom, tub didn’t look super clean, dingy walls, old spider webs in corner on floor near heater) Now, I’m not sure if it just didn’t seem clean because the hotel is older and in need of some updating or if it’s actually just not that clean, but it for sure wasn’t worth the price I paid I know it’s based on demand and it was a popular weekend but yikes! I wish they had not only ice on your floor but filtered water available as well I had to buy bottled water because I certainly wasn’t going to drink bathroom tap water from a not so clean looking bathroom Positive of the room is the size, having a microwave, and we had a nice sized fridgeIf it wasn’t for the staff and seeing how hard they worked from front desk to breakfast I would probably give 3 stars instead because of the pricing and the reasons listed about the room

John Cleveland

Excellent stay Clean rooms, extremely friendly and accommodating staff Every interaction revealed a focus on customer service

Front desk staff were beyond friendly and made my stay truly remarkable, relaxing, and comfortable Side note, the front desk staff will gladly share with you their favorite food haunts resulting in true New England dining experiencesMilitary friendly Shuttle service available to local tourist areas Good breakfast every morning adds to the affordability and convenience Coffee and tea available throughout the day On site gym and indoor pool are underutilizedno waitingThis hotel is worth the stay

Stacey James

The staff were friendly and very professional, a special thanks to Caitlyn, Matt, other Front Desk staff members, Housekeeping and the Breakfast Attendants (sorry I didn’t get your names as well) Housekeeping, the rooms were very clean and we truly appreciate your attention to detail and your efforts (we stayed in room 308) Breakfast was nice with a variety including waffles, egg biscuits, sausage links, french toast, cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, boiled eggs, toast etc

We used the pool and thank the attendant/ staff members who manage that area, we have had experiences with very unclean pool areas, however this area was clean In addition to the gentleman who was emptying the bins from lobby area and cleaning the public spaces, thank you for your attention and cleaning the areas We would definitely stay here again Thank you all for your professionalism and very clean public spaces and rooms

No real complaints But I would warn those booking here that the place is not as fancy as the pictures on the website would make it appearHowever, we didn’t need fancy

The service was good when we had to check in/out and when we needed a few things/had questions The room was clean and serviceable We had a suite room which is in a different building so I can’t say anything about the other types of roomsThe location is great if you don’t need to be downtown We were right across from the beach and also walking distance to the Cliff Walk The Tickets restaurant across from the main building was good and affordable (we had breakfast)

J MacQuarrie

I would rate 35 stars My family and I recently stayed here for a mini vacation

Upon arrival it was difficult to find where to check in Lobby / check in desk not clearly visible from parking lot Check in was quick and our room was ready earlier than expected which was a plus The room was clean, neat and had everything website described however our toilet handle & parts were broken We had to call for maintenance several times Maintenance just “jiggled” the handle and went on their way This however did not fix the problem so it continued to happen We should have been offered another room or the parts should have been replaced Also we were quite disappointed the sun deck was closed for “renovation” which the website did not state The location, the views and the cleanliness of the room met all of our expectations Would stay again plumbing issues aside

Christopher Pomilio

Booked a one night stay(Sunday)at a decent off-season rate Great location, with a beautiful ocean view right out our window It’s walking distance to the Cliff Walk, part of which we walked during our stay

It’s just a few minutes by car to downtown Newport as well There are numerous restaurants right outside their door We had a good dinner at Flo’s Clam Shack right next door, and a good breakfast at Aquidneck Pizza right across the streetThe room was clean and met all our needs The staff members we dealt with were polite Though it’s out of the hotel’s control, the road outside is a main route in and out of Newport and can be quite noisy at busy times Also, it can be downright treacherous crossing the street if you want to access one of the nearby restaurants or other businesses A better traffic management/light scheme is needed there(though again, the hotel doesn’t control that)

Courtney Durrant

The hotel is located in a very convenient location for the beach, with a few decent restaurants in walking distance However, I felt that their advertising was deceiving The hotel is ocean facing on one side but all of the amenities are not

The rooftop whirlpool is merely a deck of the side of the building over looking the marsh land and the pool also faces that direction You cannot go on the actual roof of the building and see the ocean so that was disappointing We booked a queen bed and it was particularly small, definitely seemed more like a full I don’t think the room was overly small but the placement of furniture in the room was odd The worst part about the stay for me was how disgusting the filters in the air conditioner were Part of their check in includes a guide for Covid hygiene and they’re not cleaning their air filters Should definitely be added to their daily housekeeping or at least between guests

Anita Seraichyk

Our stay was fantastic! I’m assuming the negative reviews must be from the historic building? We stayed in a corner suite with full ocean view in the modern building Staff was friendly and helpful at check in and our room was very clean It has a full kitchen, living room and a good sized bathroom

The only drawback is the main road so if you like to open the sliding doors you constantly hear cars instead of waves We will definitely return!!

Alicia Polvani

The entire staff at the hotel was great, but Rosmary at the spa gave me one the best massages I’ve ever had Shes very professional and made sure I felt comfortable the entire time Would definitely drive back just for more spa treatments 😂The indoor pool and hot tub were perfect for a foggy day and we got lucky and had the place to ourselves

Not gonna lie I was a little worried reading the reviews before coming, but all in all I loved my stay here and I’ll probably be back this summer ☀️🥰

We stayed in the Dolphin room Late FebruaryThe home and it’s history felt as though you were sleeping in a museum, in a good way

There was only one other guest, so we got to walk through all the other rooms Equally exceptional, save for two One had its bathroom in the hallway Another had its tub in the room (I suppose that could be fun)The Dolphin room was tough to keep warm The radiators had blowers that were rather noisy Enough to wake me up when they turned on over night An electric heater was availableThe breakfast part of the B&B was disappointing I’ve had hot cooked meals served at other B&B’s While tasty and filling, the choices of supermarket pastries and other processed food was opposite of the overall feel this wonderful home had to offerStaff and puppy were lovely! We are glad we stayed there!

In celebration of my wife’s Birthday, I sought out a lovely spot on the water in Newport RI As fortune would have it I located a lovely 19th century home overlooking Newport Harbor and a short walk to the wharfs retail shops as well as entertainment It was the best

a beautiful wrap around porch with wonderful views topped off with a salt water heated pool and hot tub A true B&B with an extraordinary owner, staff and accommodations Hurry to visit as this wonderful home has been sold and will change ownership soon Thank you Ann and Mark for making our long weekend trip truly memorable

Dana Lukasiewski

This place is adorable! Coquette the ‘grounds keeper’ poodle & Anne the owner, are the sweetest Great location, awesome views, unique rooms, & attentive customer service Simple breakfast in a lovely (common area) dining room

(You are welcome to take a tray back up to your room, if you want total seclusion) The wrap around porch was great The décor everywhere, made for great ambience Our room was clean, cozy, had great views, & a working fireplace (Which was awesome for a rainy chilly day) It was the perfect step back in time, that made you feel at home in grandmas house for the weekend Street parking was first come first serve, and the only *slightly* annoying part But that’s Newport in general for ya’ We would love to come back in summer, to be able to enjoy the pool, firepit, dock, and outdoor areas more I should mention- your individual room doors do NOT lock, but you do get a key to the front door, that does NEVER did we feel uncomfortable with our belongings being left in the room, and there was a ‘slide chain’ for when you are in your room sleeping

Booking this place is the only thing about our trip that we regretThe good: located really close to tons of restaurants and right on the water Great view of the sunsetThe bad: honestly everything else The parking fee is ridiculous and shouldn’t be required for guests based on the cost to stay The rooms are pretty outdated and while clean they aren’t anything to write home about I’ve had similar rooms at a Marriott and since we booked what we thought was a higher end hotel we were disappointed Lastly, the staff (other than the bartender) were rude and unhelpful On our first night we noticed a really bad bleach smell in our room In the morning we mentioned it to the front desk staff and they said they’d deal with it while we were out We didn’t get back until after dinner around 11pm When we walked in the bleach smell was so over powering It honestly felt like somebody had dropped a full bottle on the floor They had opened the windows but since it was early April it was freezing so that wasn’t a solution I went downstairs to speak with someone and was told “there is nothing we can do” My husband wasn’t satisfied with that answer and went down to speak with them They eventually gave us a new room albeit with a lot of resistance and were disgruntled that we had bothered them Lastly, there was nobody at the front desk overnight I had to go searching for a staff member At what is considered a “luxury” hotel I would have expected the desk to be constantly attended – it made me feel unsafe

Excellent ambiance, great views, great service/staff Food? – ehh I’ve given this spot a few chances and each time the food (for the prices they charge) is just okay

Ordered the squid ink pasta which came with an abundance of very small farm raised shrimp which again, I wouldn’t expect for the price along with a mediocre serving size If you’re in town or new to the area my recommendation would be drinks and apps and onward

Nancy F

Hotel is lovely but really small There wasn’t many options to do much in the evening inside the hotel Service was nice but prices are a bit inflated, especially the drinks

We called for a complimentary Toothbrush & no one ever came No answer when trying to call the front desk Also I was told that all city room views face the parking lot Something to keep in mind but not sure if this is actually true So if you want a double you will have to face the parking lot

Really enjoyed our stay here Nicely designed facility with impressive decor and art The location is tremendous

The deck is an awesome place to relax in the morning with a good old fashioned cup of hot brown The walls are on the thinner side The bathroom is small but overall it was able to handle my many needs Great shower water pressure and nicely scented body wash and shampoo options I especially enjoyed the “day bed” in the room One suggestion would be that for our specific room if the orientation of the day bed was opposite you would be able to look out onto the water (see photo) while enjoying a nice book or beverage while relaxing Seems like a missed opportunity there Otherwise this place is great We also enjoyed the restaurant (see separate review)

Staying at Hammetts feels like being a VIP at a posh club on the waterfront Tidy, stylish, practical and quiet rooms are nestled among beautifully curated art and comfortably furnished lounges, both inside and out The hotel, which feels very sophisticated, is literally in the “sweet spot” of this harbor-side town; yachts and sunset views linger off the enormous couch strewn back deck (and bar) and the lively street life of Newport is outside the front door but gently removed by being well set back from the sidewalk

On the sly, you can get the harbor taxi a few steps away at the end of the wharf and slip away for a quick ride around the harbor Hammetts Hotel is truly a jewel, hidden in plain sight

We recently spent an evening here celebrating my husband’s birthday I wanted something special and I was thrilled with my choice The Chanler is true luxury in every detail

Gorgeous destination A little bourgeois for the “average Joe” Plenty of parking if you pop in for a drink to go

Also easy to take your beverage along the Cliff Walk The bartender was exceptionally nice The hot cocoa was divine It can be traditional, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, with alcohol, or I asked for them to blend a blend of half milk and half dark it was perfect It came with plenty of little extras for the fancy price tag Very much worth the fun experience!!

Had dinner for four at the cafe Service was very slow It took a long time for drinks to arrive

When food started arriving Bread and spring onion soup was great But the pasta was very salty I had the red miso garganelli(38) another family member had the lobster and scallop pasta(55) both disarming salty The burger was messy Not in a down home delicious kind of way In a this was not assembled well kind of way My patty kept sliding off the bun, kind of way Not appealing It was also cut in halfallowing all the juice to run everywhere For the price I would expect a lot more View was tremendous

Such a cute place tucked away The staff was friendly and very helpful We were staying because my niece was getting married at Newport Vineyards which we were able to walk to by the back

The cottages were clean, stocked well with wine openers and glasses The kitchen living combo gave you place to hang out after a day walking around on Thames or sitting on the beach (which are both a short drive away) The half bath downstairs is perfect if you a group of people The upstairs bedroom and bathroom are comfy and nicely finished End your night at the Vineyards and you have a very nice relaxing getawayWill definitely go again

We loved this property and the cottages were so quaint It was very easy to check in/out and the cottage we stayed in was very clean and the perfect size for 2 people We started our 3 night stay with a couples massage at the spa which was incredible

The 2 massage therapists were amazing and these were the best massages we ever had We loved the location since it was a quick drive to the beaches and downtown and right next to the Newport Winery We will definitely be back and reccomend East Island Reserve Hotel to our family and friends!

Cannot say enough good things about this place! We brought my mom for her birthday and were able to snag a ocean view suite after being on the waitlist (room was beautiful and we loved the patio) Upon check in, Alan was EXTREMELY accommodating (promptly brought requested extra towels and even made my mom gluten free cookies (they have freshly baked cookies every afternoon) because of her gluten allergy) Alan even left a small gift for my mom on her birthday – so thoughtful

The location is amazing (we walked to every meal and even the mansions) and included parking is super easy 10/10 would stay here again

Shu Xu

Worst stay ever, it might be their fault, but the near by bar is playing EXTREMELY loud music (heavy bass and hard drumming) late into the night and it is impossible to sleep! The windows at this hotel are old and not soundproofing! I strongly recommend the management to coordinate with the bar to either ask them turn down the music after 11pm or upgrade their window with soundproofing features!

We went there for our anniversary weekend Really looked hard for a balcony room somewhere where we weren’t facing a parking lot, lol This was perfect

the balcony overlooks a small pier and it’s gorgeous Our room was perfectly appointed Clean and very comfy, with a king size bed and a couch and chair, small fridge, and desk I’ve stayed in 5 star hotels all over the world and did not find this room objectionable at all Our room looked right over the bar next door It’s covered, and it is noisy but with the balcony door shut, the wind from the waterfront, and the A/C on, it was so quiet in the room Had no issues getting a good night’s sleep Alan at the front desk was very knowledgeable and helpful He answered many questions for us The daily cookies were so good There is no elevator, and there were two long stair cases to go up to reach the room So be warned I’m far from an athlete tho, and it was fine for me

I haven’t stayed in a hotel quite like this The bedding was very smooth and comfortable We paid for a balcony that looks into the atrium and it doesn’t disappoint

The service is amazing! We asked for a late check-out and they gave us one extra hour! I enjoy the swimming pool and fitness room, though it was bustling with people We are so glad to have a perfect location! We spent 3 hours, killing time downtown and shopping The Black Dog and Ryan’s Arcade are large recommendations for Newport The seaside is very beautiful and worth checking out There are glass elevators that look down at the lobby and my family enjoyed that There are snacks right in the lobby Also, the front desk is super kind and helpful They were always listening to our questions and what we needed The room service sounds wonderful! They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner The parking was confusing There was public parking and valet parking, but we called the front desk and they were extremely helpful They also placed fountains and water effects around the lobby which was very interesting! I would rather stay on the upper levels of the hotel, but it is nice we are one of the two rooms surrounded by lush greenery I would also come here in the summer if possible But this place is so unique and I could tell they put effort into design and decoration I would absolutely consider coming here again!!

I never write reviews but wanted to make note of a few very positive and negative things from our stay this weekPositives: Great location in the town of Newport and a very attentive, courteous and friendly staff and valet crew Hotel is nice and clean

Very comfortable bed!Negatives: No outside windows in the hotel room The “window” opened completely to the hallway! So we had no sunlight and the room lighting was terrible The worst part was the hotel’s paper thin walls Had to listen to music playing in the room next to us until 2am and it begin again at 7am Was brutal We couldn’t sleep For such a pricey hotel, both of these factors were extremely frustrating

Nehal Ahmed

Newport Marriott is located in the prime location, only couple of minutes walk from downtown area, shopping mall, and all the good stuff of Newport The hotel has spacious lobby, a beautiful fountain and a humongous AtriumThe hotel has valet parking only with unlimited in and out through out the day, excellent deal for Newport as parking spots are luxury in the downtown area

For our stay, we loved our room, quality beds and pillows, huge smart TV with cable, bathroom was spacious, great water pressure in showerThe lows of our stay was we had booked two rooms, but we got to know only one was reserved, but the hotel managed to find us another room We didn’t get any room service for two days due to staff shortage, our rooms were a mess We were not offered any kind of compensation for the lack of service from the hotel They also lost power for an hour one nightEven though it’s one of the nicest looking Marriott we have been to, experience wise it was one of the bottom ones for us Luckily Marriott has no other competition in the area, so guests are forced to stick with them in Newport

Hands down the best hotel experience I’ve had Super friendly staff, clean rooms and the kitchenette in every room is wonderful for people staying for a while The grill is clean and typically has no wait and they have food and drinks every Wednesday! If you’re up here for Navy schools I strongly recommend staying here! I will be back!

Ray Craine

We stayed overseas for a local wedding The hotel was very clean and looked like it was redone in the last couple of years Ann Marie at the front desk was extremely helpful and the entire staff was friendly as we ram into them

The room, a studio king, was very roomy and up to date in all appliances This is now our go to place to stay when we want to stay overnight in Newport

Mindy LePooh

Bed was too soft, felt like I was going to drown while sleeping Slow draining sink Decent shower, kitchen, and living room

There was a weird, constant vibration in the floor in the middle of the room, almost as if we were standing on top of a large generator – very disconcerting Breakfast was standard buffet fare but mostly bad-for-you sugary/meaty stuff Across the street from a nature/protected area, good for walking around with our dog

I loved staying at the Vanderbilt I booked the room for a girls weekend only knowing that it had the best rooftop bar in Newport When arriving I was blown away at the breathtaking interior and overall experience

The concierge team was so helpful and proactive to make our stay so wonderfulOur room was very spacious and comfortable We really loved the attention to detail in our room and super soft robesWhile staying at the hotel we were able to book an igloo for dinner When we got a little too chilly the staff made moving indoors a breezeIf you are planning your visit I would highly recommend reaching out to the staff for recommendations- they did not disappoint!

Pauline LaMonica

We stayed at the Vanderbilt in February 2022 and could not have had a better experience! Morgan at the concierge desk went above and beyond what would ever have been expected and even helped my boyfriend coordinate our engagement! She helped him plan the whole weekend and made us both feel so special upon arrival The entire staff was helpful, friendly, and professional Our room was large and very comfortable and the room service came in a timely manner

We already cannot wait to come back next year and could not recommend the Vanderbilt more!

Veronica Scofield

Took me a while to get around to writing this, I apologize In many years of traveling, this is one of the very few places I’ve stayed where it is exactly as advertised, if not better I chose to take my mother here as a gift for personal reasons and everyone from the reservation team, the concierge, the porters/valets, bartenders, servers, housekeeping, the chef and kitchen team, and

I’m probably forgetting someone, made us feel so welcome, we forgot the real tax bracket we are in (not a high one!) It was a wonderful trip, and the experiences the hotel does offer are worth the money, and incredibly fun I recommend the antique car drive along the coast and The Green Hour, and the hidden gem of the rooftop bar

This was our second stay at the Samuel Durfee House On both occasions Heather and Michael were very welcoming and accommodating; don’t hesitate to ask them for any recommendations for activities or dining during your stay The rooms are nice, clean and spacious

we stayed in the Durfee room this time and the Perry room last time and we loved the balcony in the Perry room We had read that they are known for their breakfast and we were not disappointed The food was delicious and they have different options for each day of your stay I have already recommended this B&B to my friends and will definitely stay here again in the future

Katie Anderson

This B&B is in a fantastic location Easy walking district to fun shopping, restaurants, bars, and the mansions Yet it’s still nestled in a quiet spot

It has great accessible parking The breakfast each morning was my favorite meal of all that we had in Newport Delicious! We stayed in the Ida Lewis Room We never heard other guests or hallway traffic The room was comfortable and the bathroom is newly remodeled Nice hot shower Comfortable bed And last but not least, the hosts are warm and friendly with extensive knowledge of the area and tourist attractions but yet still give you your space All in all, I can’t say enough about the great experience we had at Samuel Durfee

Cat Zambito

Our room was immaculate, cozy, and spacious Heather and Michael, (the owners), were SO lovely and helpful The food for the included breakfast was amazing

The location of the B&B was within walking distance from the heart of everything The convenience of parking was fantastic I have nothing but wonderful things to say about the Samuel Durfee Inn, and our experience We will definitely be coming back!!
