Such a great venue and atmosphere If you’re looking for a beautiful place to host a party, an event, and especially a wedding Look no further than here

They will give you a fair price, and you and your guests will be glad you chose Nesselrod on the New The new owner, Jeff is a great guy who is friendly, respectful, and honest He will work with you to make sure that your special day is wonderful!

Evie Frazier

We recently stayed at the Nesselrod on the New under the new owners Jeff was super accommodating, and helpful in giving local recommendations for places to eat and activitiesWe stayed in the room with the twin beds (it was me and my son)

The room was spacious, very clean, and quiet, and had large windows that allowed for lots of light and a great view of the property, Radford and a bit of the riverThe beds were VERY comfortable, and the shared space with the TV on the main level was welcomed as it allowed us to feel at home and not confined to a “hotel room” My son enjoyed some YouTube videos while eating breakfastWe also explored the property which is really cool Lots of walking paths You can also walk to the Rocco’s, a Mexican restaurant with outdoor seating Just across the bridge, is Radford and Main Street with lots of local restaurants and a coffee shopYou’re just steps from the riverfront park with miles of paved walking trails, tennis courts, playground, volleyball court, and kayak/tubing rentals We enjoyed the trails during the down time It was nice to have such proximity to nature! If we’re in the area again, we’ll definitely be back! Though I imagine they’ll be full as others discover what an awesome gem this is under the new management!

We had our wedding at Clay Corner Inn and it was far more amazing than we could have imagined and it was all because of the exceptional service offered by the staff The property is beautiful, if you’re looking for a nice cozy at home feel The beds are super comfortable, and the kids loved swimming in the pool

I cannot recommend this place enough, their wedding packages are very affordable and their service is out of this world Josh, Jenna and their staff are just incredible and they do everything possible to make sure your needs are met We are incredibly thankful to them for making our special day memorable Also the bar is lovely and the drinks are strong!

Mitchel Snarr

We really enjoyed our stay at the Clay Corner Inn; the location is unbeatable for staying in Blacksburg as you’re right off the Huckleberry Trail and can walk anywhere on campus or downtown easily The rooms were extremely clean and well thought out We didn’t find ourselves needing anything that a full service hotel would normally provide

The check in process was very easy, as the owner communicates with you directly and personally to address any questions The bar/restaurant downstairs has a great vibe for a bed and breakfast and serves as the perfect spot to start your morning/evening Will be coming back every chance we get when we’re in town

Michael Busacca

Staying at the Clay Corner Inn was truly a great experience The room and house was beyond clean, spotless, immaculate even The warm and comfy beds and cloud like pillows makes it’s hard to leave

Leah Peaper

This hotel is very nice and newly renovated We just stayed one night while passing through, but I would stay here everytime making the drive north to south from now on At a dog friendly hotel, you never know about cleanliness but this place was a clean as it can get

Everything looks brand new , bed was super comfy and it was quiet and in a safe area The front desk staff checking in was very friendly as well and my puppy enjoyed his biscuit on arrival

Lauren Kibler

This was by far the very best Hampton I have ever stayed at The customer service was fantastic and the hotel was spotless The breakfast was the best I have had at any place that included breakfast

They checked on us after we arrived in our room, they greeted us with a smile, and checked us out with kindness If you are looking for a hotel in the area STAY HERE They were even welcoming to our pup!!

Mary Ray

This hotel is either new or remodeled, it is lovely, updated, nicely furnished and very clean Friendly staff throughout Hot breakfast

Super location My one comment to the hotel, there is no longer daily room cleaning, you leave a card on the door requesting what you need We were there 3 nights, on day 3 requested fresh towels and empty wastebaskets, left for the day and came back to the same pile of wet towels and overflowing waste cans, too late to do anything about it If this is the system, a card on the door should not go unnoticed an entire day

Arrived on 7/7 around 4-5 and the man working the desk is outstanding! Sorry nice and helpful!! The outside looks great, the room was great, clean, spacious I was by a nice outdoor pool and got tub Breakfast the next morning was really good and the lady that was taking care of the breakfast was also super friendly!! YOU are reality hiring great people and I will stay there the next time I am working in that area!!

Allan Chapman

My favorite thing about my stay was the customer service! The gentleman who checked me in was quick and thorough My first key didn’t work, got another and he even came out to the second building to make sure that if it didn’t work, he would take a look and see why The worst part of my stay was that the television was bigger than any other quality inn that I have stayed at

I’m too busy working on my laptop to enjoy it Lol definitely getting a 5 star, plus it was super clean and everything worked well!

CaseyLee

Came up for a few days from Virginia Beach to move my daughter into her dorm at Virginia Tech! Overall our experience was very nice and accommodating for the cost! The staff ladies Ashley at the front desk and Caitlyn who was very sweet as well! I appreciated being so close to restaurants and store and not far from the school! I would definitely stay here again! Thanks for a great experience!

Great place to stay The room was clean and spacious and all the other areas of the hotel were well-maintained Complementary coffee in the lobby and helpful staff made our stay a pleasure

The hotel’s location is ideal for walking access to all parts of the town and the free (although limited) parking was a bonus Would stay here again

Beautifully furnished and only a few blocks from all the iconic Blacksburg locations Within walking distance of the tech campus and central to downtown Incredibly friendly and helpful staff

Emily and summer went above what was required when I was here and were invaluable to improving my stay by recommending locations of interest First time I stayed at the hotel but it’s certainly the only place I’ll book when I need to stay in Blacksburg again

The check-in experience was friendly and efficient, and our room was spacious and incredibly comfortable I slept like a rock and couldn’t hear any noise from the hall or other rooms The hotel is super convenient located just next to campus

This will be my go-to place to stay when I visit for the next 4+ years

Todd Moneymaker

Dinner buffet was a complete rip off! Food was scarce and I’ll prepared We arrived at 7 to find no salad, cold chicken and deserts that appeared to be old with an outer crust on cheese cake Wait staff were dressed in sweatpants? Bubble gum stuck to the chairs

Drinks took 30 minutes to get To top it off dinner for 5 was $300!! Very disappointing as we here in town for my sons graduation Do not eat here! The staff complained about new management and apologized for everything bing so bad since new management took over I would have rated this place a zero but that wasn’t an option

The beds were so comfortable, a welcome respite after hours of driving I can’t express how wonderful our stay was! Still on the road, and staying at another HIE tonight Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Newer facility, my room was still in decent shape, but starting to show a little age Very clean, not even a hint of cigarette smoke smell, and very friendly staff The room was on the small side, but not tiny

There was plenty of room for my clothes for my 6 day stay Bed was fairly comfortable Overall a great value, and I would definitely stay here again

Chris Camarro

I stumbled in at 10 pm exhausted I was greeted by a smiling face in a comfortable inviting lobby Once in my room I noticed it not only looked clean but smelled clean

I was concerned by the word micro that I would feel claustrophobic The use of mirrors help the room feel larger Also with the clever use of space the room did not feel small or that anything I might need was lacking Every place I went was well lit I never felt unsafe The breakfast was good I am not much of a breakfast food person and I found food I like to eat Good coffee too!

Taylor Magda

This place is truly a steal! My fiancé and I paid $98 for two nights and they have free breakfast! Our room was very clean and our bathtub was of a really nice size Not to mention, the hairdryer works REALLY well The breakfast wasn’t a hot breakfast, but there were plenty of options- muffins, bagels, cereal, donuts, juice, and coffee

The front desk staff could have been a little more pleasant, but I can deal with that as long as I have a clean room I’m glad we now have somewhere to stay when we visit our graduate school campus!

The front staff stayed in their offices talking on their phones, eating with doors open There was boxes and cleaning supplies in main lobby for two days we stayed In the bottom stairwell (which we had to use because one elevator was not working and the other had cliches), there was trash, cleaning cards, storage stuff – unsightly and not safe if little children

The front desk nor the breakfast signs made it clear what consisted of a continental breakfast (which is included with room) – it was intermixed with the hot breakfast which you are charged $10 per person (added to your bill as you leave which they cannot print you a copy of to check – only can be emailed to you) The hot breakfast had uncooked bacon and biscuits so hard you could not break them apart to eat them There were other things but you get the idea

Brian J

Overall this Holiday Inn was pleasant Be sure to book a room in advance for a good price (~$80), or you can end up paying ~$180 at the last minute Room was decent

Certain things could be updated or replaced Parking is tight / limited next to the hotel End up parking at the nearby Walmart side parking lot The Texas steak restaurant across the street must be good I saw alot of cars thereEmployees were friendly and helpful At check in the front desk didn’t mention the “price difference” between the free Continental (cold) breakfast and the $895 hot breakfast I found out the difference on my 2nd morning of breakfast, when the lady working the breakfast area asked for my “breakfast card” Later that morning they posted a sign near the breakfast area (see photo)

The residence Inn by Marriott is the best hotel in Blacksburg The rooms are a comfortable size for a family in the pool is an added benefit The restaurants near the hotel or all you need and the grocery store down the street are more than adequate

The staff are lovely and do everything they can to make your stay comfortable The breakfast has been better and seems to be primarily prepackaged food now I hope that can improve in future visits but given Covid and the associated restrictions, I understand the limitations Thank you to all the staff for making my family and me comfortable during our repeated stays during the summer

My wife and I stayed at the hotel last time we visited Nashville, but this time we brought the kids to see the Gaylord complex This venue is a must see! We grabbed lunch there and it is pricey, but very tasty We walked the gardens, took the boat ride and did a little shopping

It was a rainy day, so escaping into this magnificent venue was perfect for a few hours My teenager did not want to go, but admitted afterwards how really cool and worthwhile it was I highly recommend this if you’re in the Nashville area!

ANT ALERT I remember it like it was yesterday, oh wait- it WAS! Here I was this afternoon getting all prettied up for the photos and videos that I was going to take in my hotel room because I thought the room was nice, here I go to reach for the blinds to let in light and I found ants and DIRT littered all over the windowsill of the room The sight was ghastly to say the least

But oh, I was in for a treat when I buried my whole body in the duvet and my skin felt like it was crawling I tried to calm myself down and think “maybe I’m a little anxious because of the previous events that took place” and calmed down Moments later, I peered a tiny particle moving from the corner of my eye, “relax, Meah, I comforted myself” I gave it a double take and it was gone The next look I gave, I actually saw an ant crawling on me!! I smacked the ant and left its corpse as a warning for the others I am still reflecting on the events of yesterday with my legs still buried under the covers and the feel of my skin crawling to new heights! Don’t worry, because it’s my last night here anyway I do not recommend for my bug phobics everywhere, this is a solid NO Thanks for reading!

I’d give the staff 5 stars! Especially for having to work under the obviously management policies I’m sorry, but you’re charging over $200 and $300 per night and the customer has to request new towels? How about management default to providing services and only not provide them by request!? It isn’t ok, to not clean a room, not provide linen or towel changes Room wasn’t clean upon entry either, there was hair and toe nail clippings in the bathroom, there was sunflower seeds on the floor in the room

They give you a silly paper to request towels, but with a three day stay, they give you one piece of paper The phone in the room didn’t work, was connected The toilet handle needed to be held to flush Etc All not ok I rarely give bad reviews, but it’s warranted here They need to do a better job! The parking lot at night is a disco ball, almost all the lights flickering, needing attention Not ok! Shows a lack of maintenance!Desk staff was apologetic and very helpful So I don’t feel it’s on them But I stay at a Hotel, not a Motel, I expect a certain level of service The Covid excuse is over, move on Or as I suggest, provide the services unless requested not to do so!

I have been a IHG member since 2007 and have stayed at many differenthotels around the country including several IHG hotels My experienceat IHG hotels has always been good to very good They have always beenclean and safe

In the past three months I have stayed at 3 differentIHG hotels in 3 different cities The first 2 were very good The laston Holiday Inn Express in Christiansburg, VA was very concerningUpon check in we were instructed that “due to covid” there would notbe any room housekeeping services during our stay unless we requesteda specific service Then they gave us a slip of paper to fill out ifwe needed anything and to drop it by the front desk This was thefirst time we encountered this request, but agreed When we started tounpack our belongings in our room we noticed that there weren’t anyliners in the waste baskets!!! So I dutifully filled out the requestform and stopped by the front desk on our way out to explore the areaA very nice woman assisted us while another woman was working on thecomputer next to her After she read my request she informed my thatshe didn’t know if it was covid protocols or a supply chain issue, butthey haven’t had any liners for ages She said they were completelyout of liners She was very professional and polite, but I haddifficulty accepting her response So I told her that if it was asupply chain issue there was a Target down the street where they couldpurchase someOn the positive side the front desk was very polite and the bed asusual was very comfortableI have been in contact with IHG Guest Services and they are working toresolve my concerns My husband and I just felt that public health wasa top concern at ALL IHG hotels, and they were all accountable for thesame standards Unfortunately, the IHG in Christiansburg, VA fellshortThis review is looking pretty epic! Nice!Post Review

We stayed in Room 114 on February 19th 2022, First we noticed that our curtains wouldn’t close and being on the ground floor facing the parking lot, we unpacked our suitcases and stacked them to close them as best we could The bathroom is definitely just cleaned minimally, mold and hair on floors and base boards BUT the real kicker NO HOT WATER Of course I noticed this around 5am, dressed and walked to the front desk he said give it 15 minutes and try again

We let it run for 20 minutes and just cool water It was miserable Not what you expect from Holiday Inn at $150 a night Still waiting on management to call me

Awesome experience and customer service Very clean rooms and great food When the restaurant is open on the weekends parking is hard to find but the street parking adjacent to the park is also available and seemed safe

A great hotel for train enthusiasts as well! Multiple opportunities to see long trains, especially after midnight! Be on the lookout for the twice daily train with the caboose!

There is a train right next to the hotel We worried it would go all night with the whistle but we didn’t hear it between 9:30 and 5:30, but especially if you are on that side, you will be awakened I see other reviews mention it going all night

This was a Sunday The floors, walls and ceilings are not well soundproofed and you will hear televisions and noise from the restaurant, which fortunately has a last seating at 8:30, at least currently It’s an old building with restrictions on what they can do However the rooms are very nice, clean, and pretty well stocked Ours had 2 sinks There are keurig coffee makers and the pillows and bed were very comfortable Restaurant was reasonable with good food I will update after the breakfast Supposedly it is varied and hot

This looked like a great stay off the beaten path during 2 days of long driving It has a lot of character and the rooms are unique and clean All of the front desk and wait staff were very nice and helpful

The restaurant was also a great place for dinner All of the good things don’t really matter when you’re in a hotel that you can’t get any sleep in! My whole family has been up almost all nightThe NOISE:The reviews that mention the train are 100% true After we checked in, a very loud train came by right across the street at 6pm, 8pm After the 8pm, the front desk told us the next one wouldn’t be until the morning Well, they kept rolling in at 2am, 4am and 4:45amWhile you’re not sleeping due to the train, the walls and floors are also paper thin We can hear everyone from every which way I think I know all the children’s names around us, what people watch on TV, and that there is a man who is incredibly sick either below me or next to me In the insanity, my husband and I had to joke that we were in Shawshank and wondered who was gonna break first

Great staff Good rooms My only suggestion is to get rid of the carpets as the room smells like dogs in the room designed for dogs

Install tile which will give the room a much cleaner smell, especially since you charge an extra $75 for dogs so it shouldn’t smell like dogs And it wasn’t just me, some guy in the hallway told his wife, this floor (1st floor) smells like dogsOtherwise it is a well ran hotel with excellent staff Heated pool which is very nice Decent breakfast included and a very friendly breakfast staff

Steven Boehm

Immaculately clean, friendly staff, great breakfast, updated amenities, absolutely zero complaints about this Hotel The bed was huge, the room had nice furniture, towels stocked to the brim They even had mouthwash with the room

I also appreciated the military rate Overall great experience and I will be back next time I am in the area

Jessica Harman

Clean and comfortable place in a good spot off highway However the maid came in and hour and half before checkout without knocking rudely saying when are yall leaving? I said check outside at noon and she says no 1030 than walks out and slams my door I called front desk immediately and they only blamed it on her being new

But even new people should have better manners than that and know the check out time
