A step back in time Every time I step into the lobby I swear that Belle is going descend down the Grand staircase singing the opening song “Belle” from Beauty and the Beast! In a good way! The rooms are “dated” but, to me, also in a good way If you are looking for sleek and modern this isn’t the hotel for you

If you appreciate cozy and timeless this is your hotelThe location is hard to beat There is live music once a week The last time I had breakfast there (a couple of years ago) I dined al fresco and it was delicious!

My recent stay at the Westgate Hotel San Diego did not started well the first night but the night receptionist made the difference His name is Johnnie Walters he went out of his way to fix my problem and was very professional with me His actions made me reconsider my stay in the Hotel

I had two problems there is a side of the Hotel that faces the train with a clearly loud horn that sounds every ( avoid that side ) time the train arrive or departs Mr Walters fix that and move me to a room on the other side of the Hotelperfect The other issue was was the bar or bartender and had three issues with that barprobably could get you a beer but not a good drink so avoid it and will not go into details So to the Hotel very good location and walking distances to many things, is beautiful and classy , location is perfect, clean and spacious rooms, restaurant good food and good service, very nice pool But GREAT staff working and always always always helping you The front desk Jimmy and Ivette superb I left happy met and made friends out of the staffBUT Mr Johnnie Walters made the difference

The staff here is top notch! I had Uber eats cancel my order on me and less than 30 minutes until I had to leave for the airport The employee Freddy made sure I got a last minute order rushed up in time for me to have something to eat before a long flight and I was beyond thankful The hotel itself is beautiful and the beds are very comfortable

I do suggest bringing earplugs if you are a light sleeper as there is a lot of noise from the city at all hours of the day and night

We loved our stay here! The front desk employees were polite and efficient The room was clean and such a comfortable bed! Someone had found my wallet on the street and the head of security held it until he could get in contact with me And if you go to the bar, ask for Paul!!! We ended every evening having a drink at the bar with him

He’s an excellent bar tender It was a great place to stay while hanging out in the city

Avery A

We really enjoyed our stay here Not really kid friendly, more geared toward that traveling professional Nonetheless, my 4yr old had fun here

Front staff was nice and friendly, as were their security Lobby was nice and spacious My daughter enjoyed going to the second level and watching everyone from above Our room was basic, yet comfortable and suited our needs Bathroom was small, but its not like we hung out in thereWe really enjoyed the hotel restaurant/bar, and so did a lot of other travelers It got busy later than I expected, like around 9pm Keep that in mind if you get hungry and decided to order here From observation, it looks like it took awhile for the food to come out, but everyone did show up at almost the same time The chocolate cake was okay if you are craving something sweet Of course there are restaurants close by, if you are looking for other fareOverall, a nice place to stay if you’re in the downtown area

R C

Beautiful hotel in a great area but don’t expect any hospitality Trying to get toiletries brought up to my room is an absolute hassle The coffee shop employees are more concerned with keeping the beverages stocked than actually serving customers

And good luck with the shuttle service A couple of the drivers aren’t exactly the most pleasant people to encounter 300 bucks a night I definitely did not get what I paid forQuestion: why is it so difficult to get a shuttle ride to the airport?? The front desk won’t schedule it The drivers aren’t nice about it I don’t get why it’s so difficult I’m giving you guys 300 bucks a night Least you could do is give me a ride to the airport without the hassle

I had a lovely 5 day stay here for a conference Very convenient location, close to convention center, gaslamp district and Trolley stops right in frontMy room on the upper floor had incredible views

Bed was super comfortable and the linens and everything felt very clean All the staff I interacted with were super friendly and helpful Great stay and would definitely stay again!

Welt Reisender

The staff were all very nice and attentive We asked the valet for recommendations on the local sights and sounds They were always enthusiastic and we went to a few spots they recommended and they were spot on

Front desk crew were always friendly and we felt like even though it’s a large resort, the staff always made it feel like you were the only person staying there The room was nice and the view was beautiful The hotel has a bridge that connects to Petco Park stadium and it’s located in downtown across from the convention center It’s a nice place to come back to at the end of a long day of sight seeing I’d recommend staying here if you’re from out of townDefinitely will visit again!

First off, the price per night is nowhere near the service you can expect The rates are about double the price of a 4 or 5 star hotel in the heart of downtown SDBoth nights my room was so hot that I had to sleep with the windows open which is pretty unacceptable, as the staff, who is nowhere to be found, was well aware the AC was not working before our stay, yet never informed us until we were finally able to find someone to tell them that the room was over 90 degrees the entire stay

Nonetheless, you are better off staying elsewhere like an actual 4 or 5 star hotel for half the rates you they are charging and can expect to receive way better service

We LOVED having our wedding here I spent more hours on the knot than I want to admit looking for a place that was more special than just another hotel or golf course wedding This was a new venue so it was hidden in the results but I’m sooo glad we found it

Ben was super helpful in working with our budget so that we could could have our dream dayNoban cooked “some of the best salmon I have had in my life” as my husband told everyone Our guests all raved about the food- and they had a personal server for us that night so we actually got to eat the food!Aly was beyond organized and on top of everything She took care of everything and did it in such a composed manor that she calmed me of any stress I might haveBernie is the best He took care of us and our overnight guests and always had a smile on his face He was sooo helpful in our set up and preparations the day before and cleaning up the day afterThe venue itself is amazing The details that went into the remodel are really impressive A lot of time and love were put into this house and it shows Having the house all weekend was just the best We had our rehearsal there the day before with a taco stand and got to spend the evening with our close family relaxing and enjoying time together I got to sleep in and roll out of bed and up to the 3rd floor’s secret room behind the bookshelf to get my hair and makeup done I already felt comfortable in the house and it kept my stress level so low It was great that after the wedding we could hang around with our family and not worry about packing up or forgetting things there because we could deal with it all the next dayI cannot begin to express how perfect of a venue this is They take care of you and really allow you to enjoy your day at such a special and unique place

We can’t thank The Britt Scripps Manor in San Diego, CA enough for the most incredible wedding day My wife and I wanted an intimate Victorian themed wedding and a murder mystery rehearsal dinner In 3 months, this team put together our murder mystery rehearsal dinner, 50-person ceremony/reception and executed it flawlessly

We are SO happy with the choice we made hosting our special day there! Our wedding was nothing short of “happily ever after” with the breathtaking backdrop of the tree overlooking the manor All of our family and friends who attended absolutely loved it They raved about the picturesque ceremony site, the glamorous and classy interior, the delicious food, our signature drinks, the friendly service and the overall ambiance Working with both the management and the crew was fine We couldn’t have been more pleased with the incredible service provided by Louisa, the coordinator, Keegan, the property manager, and Jesse, the chef I felt completely at ease with Louisa being in charge of our entire event from start to finish Their whole team put our dream wedding together in 3 months They answered all of my questions thoroughly and in a timely manner I can’t recommend her and the Britt Scripps Manor enough! Thank you for making our special day a memory we will treasure for a lifetime!

My family and I had a great stay here From the minute we pulled up the valet came out and helped us unload our luggage Check in was easy and we stayed in an absolutely gorgeous suite on the sixth floor

The hotel is in a historic building and it was nice to see the history of the building as you walk around The only thing I did not really like is how they try to rope you into a timeshare presentation Granted if you attended the presentation, which we did, they waived the valet fees and gave you a seven day stay in any of their hotels Aside from that everything was fantastic I would definitely stay here again

4 day stay for family vacation and I absolutely loved it!! It’s 5 minutes away from the airport and the Location is Amazing!! My son and I had a huge Suite with views of the Marina! Right across the street a gorgeous park, facing the harbor! Simply Breathtaking at Sunset!! The front desk staff were all amazing and kind, as were the hotel staff And the 2nd floor outdoor pool and patio was the perfect place to Wind down after a long day of touring the city! Highly recommended!!

This was without question the best Hampton we have ever stayed in Check in was easy (and parking while checking in and unloading very convenient) Self parking was a breeze

The rooms were good size, clean, and the view of the harbor out our window was beautiful! And location – wow! We walked 2 blocks and were at the harbor, with its beautiful ships (cutters, as well as military) and restaurants The hotel is surrounded by other restaurants as well And the area seemed perfectly safeFinally, breakfast was decent (which is always a question mark at Hampton’s…) All in all, we would choose to stay here for every SD visit going forward!

Mohammad Awaida

This hotel was incredibly frustrating If you are looking for a relaxing getaway, this hotel is not there to provide that They are more interested in taking care of their business than they are taking care of their guests

The rooms are sort of updated but feel outdated Most rooms have an awful view of a junked up courtyard and train tracks, which you do hear frequently The front desk staff is vindictive and rude when you complain about the hotel situation The parking situation is interesting, you pay for it but you’re not guaranteed a spot and if it’s full you have to go park in another lot and pay out of pocket This is such a fun situation to deal with after taking the family on a day out in San Diego The entire area smells like urine from the homeless that dominate the area The breakfast area is a small spot that can be challenging to fight through The elevators are questionable with 2 of 3 elevators down during our visit Every guest complained about the condition and speed of the elevators, people would get on an elevator regardless of the direction just to get on During peak times we waited 20 min for an elevator The stairs are not functional because they only take you outside and not to the lobby or the parking garage I cannot remember a more awful hotel experience and beg you to stay away and save yourself the stress and frustration

My wife & I stayed at the Andaz as part of our honeymoon, and I was blown away with the attention to detail, respect for loyalty, and luxury Hyatt has created hereIt started at check in with a great, responsive front desk & valet team Offered a free alcoholic beverage

Of all the hotels we stayed at during our honeymoon, this was the only one who did something special (and left us an entire bottle of champagne!) The room we stayed in was spacious and on the top floor Rooftop is beautiful and gives great views of the city (great place to get some work done during the day)The two cons people mention is the noise & the parking cost The location is essentially the cause of both of these, so don’t go into it with false expectations You’re staying at one of the most expensive and popular parts of San Diego, right across from many popular bars (check out Coin-Op) Things were loud, particularly on the weekends, but the hotel gives you a white noise machine and ear plugs Bars get quiet around 10-11 on weekdays and 12-1 on weekends, but we’re night owls and weren’t bothered much The hotel is a sexy (shower had a glass viewing wall into the bedroom), modern place to spend a few nights around a popular nightlife district — not a family-centered, quiet part of town

Ashish Lal

We had a great stay at the Andaz All of the staff were really attentive, friendly, and professional The rooftop was a nice place to start or end your day with pretty good drinks (esp for a hotel bar)

The room and bathroom were comfortable and clean They also treat World of Hyatt members well The biggest downside was the noise at night due to the hotel’s location It’s located in Gaslamp and the bars around the hotel blast music very loud

Michael Anders

The good: centrally located, friendly manager to help address issuesThe bad: First room the A/C was broken and the fans sounded like birds chirping, second room was the loudest street noise I’ve ever heard from a hotel room It was on the 5th floor so I can only imagine how loud it would be on the lower floors You know your windows don’t insulate any noise at all when they need to offer ear plugs in every room

And yes, is the part of the city busy and loud? Of course it is But I live in a loud part of San Francisco and my windows actually insulate noise well It is possible to do if you have good windowsThird room I was moved to was a handicapped room That’s fine I guess, I needed a quiet place to stay with a functioning A/C (I know, so much to ask for) But in that room, the shower didn’t have hot water for 15 minutes so they had to repair that tooAll in all, this was far from a luxury hotel experience The manager Emelina was very nice and tried to make the most of these bad circumstances But the hotel is in need of some major upgrades and is far from the Hyatt standard I am used to

Stayed 2 nights, great location Front Desk agent who checked us in was great Room was great until we needed to shower

Water kept cutting off and when we called down they wanted to send maintenance however the shower started again When we checked out we mentioned the water issue and were told it’s been a problem and maintenance is aware Last time I checked if the whole building has a water issue a plumber should be involved, not hotel maintenance The other issue was the breakfast was a disaster No food, no coffee and dirty dishes piled up Such a nice location but such a shame to start our family Vacation this way

Check-in was quick and easy I got a room with my 4 gals just for one night The room had everything we needed and the view was amazing, I could not stop looking at it

The staff was so nice and ready to help on everything Whenever we needed something they were quick! The bed was too firm for me, I like to be sucked in, but I slept which is enough The pool supposedly was heated but it still felt cold, still enjoyed but not when it got a little windy Couldn’t try out the breakfast unfortunately because I woke up late, but I bet it was delicious Definitely would recommend and come back to this hotel!

Michael Meotti

Very happy with this new hotel Just across the street from the waterfront near the USS Midway Museum Good sized rooms with sitting area and fridge

Nice bathroom Only flaw was that the desk chair was stuck in the lowest position making the desk unusable for work unless you sat on pillows Staff is very friendly Good free breakfast in a quality space on the fifth floor which also has an outstanding outdoor lounge area Definitely a hotel to keep on the list for San Diego

Brian Tally

Absolutely incredible place to stay! Walking distance to everything in downtown, and SD bay area amenities The rooms were incredible with breathtaking views on every level The rooftop bar, lounge and pool were awesome

Friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms! The breakfast was very good and tons to choose from The gym was also incredible I can’t say enough good things about this place I will definitely be back! It was a perfect experience!

A smaller hotel that doesn’t have a lot of amenities, but is close to all San Diego attractions & freeways The rooms are nice and newly renovated, and the staff is friendly & helpful The beds are comfortable

If you have lots of plans outside in SD, it’s a good place to sleep and then head off Not a destination resort in and of itself

Sarah Allen

My mother and I stayed in this building nearly 10 years ago It is one of two hotels i have truly remembered for more than a month I wish cell photos were a thing back then because I LOOOOOVED the atmosphere

The check in desk has since changed, and yes, definite remodeling We opened the windows at night to have a fresh breeze (no AC at the time), everything was clean, open, and spectacularly amazing We walked all over the place And every single recommendation from the staff was spot on perfection Hubs and I are coming to SD in the fall and I truly hope we can stay here again

Dolly Wuitschick

My son and I had a wonderful time The room was awesome and the balcony where we BBQd was great Everyone was nice and helpful in checking in

This building has some wonderful history but was wonderfully restored Looking forward to coming back We used the MTS bus, Trolley and the Coaster to get around Only used our car 1 time Bummer about the parking but oh well Other places are $50 a night Laundry does need some repair but was free Not going to complain Grocery stores very near by Loved our stay So many great memories!

I did not stay too much in this hotel but it was right in the heart of the gaslamp district All the employees were very friendly and welcoming The one thing I really liked about the hotel was the rooftop bar

If you’re a fan of old fashion, theirs was on point I was never a big fan of them until I tried it here The restaurant does get pretty crowded Valet is $50 and it’s about the same for self parking I did self parking the first night for $25 thinking it would be cheaper but the parking garage charged me another $25 for a new day at 6am

Alexandra Klimek

The hotel is nice but very cramped My room was very small, view was 360 degrees of concrete building walls There were no common areas to sit and enjoy the beautiful weather other than the rooftop bar

I did try to visit but it was quite loudThere are a lot of displaced people living in this area of San Diego and if you go 1-2 blocks in any direction of the hotel you will notice this I was staying alone and did not feel very safe parking offsite but valet was $54/dayIt was a good location as far as being close to things but I did not feel safe to wander about and couldn’t really hang out at the hotel except in my room

Melinda Lynch

Our little family had a great stay We felt welcomed by all the employees we encountered The front desk team were great to work with and took good care of selecting a room for us

The hotel was clean and as expected The location was very close to Petco Park, which is why we stayed there I will say that the Gaslamp Quarter is not the best location for a long stay with kids, as it is an area with a lot of bars/clubs/restaurants The hotel worked great for our family’s one night trip to the baseball game

Spent 6 nights at this golf resort It is a great place for a quiet retreat even for non golfers There were a couple of days during our stay when they hosted tournaments and it still remained fairly quiet

The room was very nice and had one of the biggest bathrooms in a hotel The room had a proper desk which helped on the couple of days when I did have to work There was a fridge and coffee maker but no microwave The fitness center was decent There were two pools outside One of them was rarely used There was an on site restaurant which we frequented for breakfast The resort is within a ten minute drive from the casino They offer a shuttle It is about ten minutes minimum to drive into town if you want to check out other places to eat Overall it was a great stay

Not only can you play golf at one of San Diego’s top rated golf courses you can stay in a fabulous room that has all the comforts of home and then in the evening for a spectacular night you can head over to the Sycuan casino and catch a concert or have an amazing dinner in one of the spectacular restaurants! Or dine in your room! I’m always impressed by the friendly staff and ever accommodating management If you are looking for something to please the whole family and your love of golf in San Diego this is where it’s at

They left our trash in the room for three days Did not replenish cups When asked for room service they just left the towels inside the door

It’s $100 A day deposit, not your entire stay Very poor hospitality There is no parking for guests by the restaurant When we wanted lunch there was a tournament and the manager said go back to your room Take a golf cart We are fully dressed for a wedding rehearsal day Hot day I told him we were at the farthest end on the property The golf worker would have hit our car as we were slowly backing up They drive too fast Don’t want to risk a bad driver!! Very very poor maid service!!!! 2nd worst hotel experience in my life don’t stay there Our neighbors said they had to clean the filters in the room The day we insisted on cleaning our room after 3 days of trash the maid had the tv on and changed our air temp to 60 degrees Room was cold Terrible place It would be better to drive in from somewhere like the Jamul casino The food manager at the restaurant could have done better We had no lunch No food was deliveredBad place Also I think my glasses by the bed went missing I’m not 100 per cent sure but I will report if one of the maids took my prescription glasses for a child In fact I will do more than report that if I return home and they are not there Jennifer

Front desk reps remain behind a door in a back office, inattentive and passive customer service, takes minutes to recall Hairs found in bed, shower, sink and ‘fresh towels’ Dust clings to light fixtures in the lobby and hallways

Complimentary breakfast, recommend the cereal Overpriced, under staffed, overall leaves everything to be desired Recommend elsewhere

Great location with some of the best views around Beautifully landscaped and very well maintained Service and staff was mostly top notch as they were very friendly

One of the staff went as far as to even get me an iced tea when there was none in the area of the hotel I was sitting at Only exception for rating 4 stars on service is that one of the cleaning carts was blocking my exit from the room on the day of check-out (cleaning crew was next door) Also would say that the rooms are very nice, spacious, and well maintained; however my couch had some small stains on them The color almost blended in One of the towels that is used for the floor just outside the shower area also had a stain on it Another reason for the 4 star rating as a 5 star rating hotel would catch these things I would definitely come back to visit for a vacation with my family I trust Marriott hotels and their standards seem to be high and consistent no matter where in the world I have stayed with them

This is solidly a 45/ star hotel The service was excellent all around, from check-in, restaurant, pool bar, valet and concierge

The rooms were clean We stayed in a resort view room, which overlooked the wellness center If I were to return, I’d choose a water/pool view Hotel is great for families The location on the island is the only negative It’s the quieter side with less things to do Overall great hotel and great value

My wife and I had our wedding ceremony and reception at the Coronado Island Marriott We give our highest recommendation to this hotel and venue Every step of the way, the hotel event staff made us feel cared for and valued, and they were very on top of the details of coordinating our event

Our wedding day itself was just magical They made sure that everything was ready for all our vendors We had our wedding in an outdoor tent, which was just beautiful The food was incredible, people keep telling us how delicious our food was The event staff also were so attuned to our needs during the event, even bringing me additional entree after I finished mine (I didn’t know a second one was even an option) There really aren’t enough positive things I can say about the Coronado Island Marriott My wife and I would choose this venue again and again, and we look forward to visiting in the future to re-live our happy memories

Excellent Marriott property and well maintained All staff very friendly and helpful Nice common areas and lots of

places to sit and relax throughout the property Pool was nice with plenty of chairs, towels and was very clean Front desk staff including the manager were extremely accommodating to me and very professional I arrived very early in the morning and didn’t expect to be able to check in, but just asked to be able to check in whenever they had something available They were so accommodating and actually found a room within the hour around 10am Awesome!! Great thing is this Marriott had the Elite lounge open and well stocked drinks and snacks Complementary breakfast daily as well Nice touch was a seltzer bar in the lounge with coffee and tea machine as well Only negative here is the rooms have hardwood floors that are not kept clean Not sure if they don’t have the correct vacuum cleaners or what, but the floors had other people’s hair all over the place It was pretty gross actually and my socks were covered with debris from the floor Walls had blood splattered on themas well Low pile rugs are a better option and easier to vacuum using the upright vacuum they use Anyway, I would still recommend this hotel, but just beware that you must wear slippers or setting on your feet at all times in the room unless you want other people’s hair on your feet!

We stayed here for the first time last weekend and we were very pleasantly surprised how much we loved it The rooms were clean and great The staff was super friendly! While we ate breakfast there, a couple of the staff members really stood out

We were greeted by Dee and we watched as she chatted and made sure all the guests were happy and enjoying their meals Our server was JC and he was excellent Let’s not forget the front desk either They were all super helpful Especially Anna! We will be coming back very soon!!!

Jay Akhtar

Our stay was good and could have been better for 5 starsHere are few things that can be improved:- no room service done even after requesting a day in advance It was done later after when we came back and had to call front desk multiple times- after room service was done, coffee supplies were not refilled- used glasses were not replaced- trash from the bin was not removed- no chairs in the balcony- lastly not a deal breaker but a hot tub around the pool was missing

Fantastic location with loads of great bars and restaurants within walking distance, as well as the trolley and plenty of buses to get around San Diego if you don’t have a carThe beds were very comfortable and the rooms have all the amenities to make you feel at home especially for longer staysStaff were very nice and helpful at all times

Finally, the pool was definitely a bonusThe only downside was the grab and go breakfast, I think using covid as an excuse not to have a full breakfast is no longer acceptable (at least in Europe, I don’t know how hotels are operating in the US)

Michele Gregoire Gill

For the class of hotel this is, we had a very good experience The room was clean and quite large My family of four was very comfortable here

We had a balcony with doors that opened up There’s a lot of construction in the neighborhood so the view wasn’t great but it was still nice to get fresh air into the room The hotel is close to Little Italy and good restaurants It has a pool and hot tub And the staff was excellent, responding to service requests promptly and helpfully For Comic Con, they gave us a complimentary grab and go breakfast each day We would definitely stay here again

Jeff Eppenger

Great Location with their own parking area which is a huge plus for downtown San Diego The negatives, we found no one at the front desk most times, we were never acknowledged as Best Western Rewards Members and we weren’t offered an express checkout The room had a beautiful view of the San Diego Bay but did cost extra, the carpet wasn’t very clean upon arrival

The room did have a safe All and all not a bad place to stay but not a great place to stay
