The pictures do not do it justice, this place was huge and amazing! Two ginormous TV’s and the comfiest bed in the world! That plus the free snacks, fireplace, and beautiful outdoor seating and bathroom, I was considering living there! Haha! The owner was also extremely nice as well as the workers This place is definitely something they take pride in and it shows

This is a beautiful hotel The rooms are amazing and the garden is incredible I’ve stayed in nice hotels all over the world, but the Dover Garden Suites is hands down the best

I like it so much I’m thinking of coming back just so I can stay here againI can’t imagine why anyone would rate this hotel poorly, and Jim and Nan are EXTREMELY nice I have a sneaking suspicion that the two bad reviewers are some of “those” people You know the onesTake my advice and stay here I can’t say enough good things about it

The first room we entered had an awful smell The second room had a smell but not as bad The rooms were clean

The bed was soft The linen was clean Plenty of towels The receptionist was nice and accommodating to our group Each of the rooms we were in had a full fridge and a 2 isle stove There were dishes, silverware and pots to use We did not utilize any of the items, but it would be useful to someone who has to stay for a while

Pam Hutchins

I felt very safe there I had a suite with a king-size bed, alarm clock, ironing board, iron, large bathroom, room safe, small loveseat, coffee table, 3 dressers, TV, kitchenette with fridge, dishwasher, 2 burner stoves, microwave, toaster, desk, internet all in my suite Ice machine, washing machine & dryer were on a different floor

We enjoyed our stay at the Sleep Inn and Suites The hotel employees were friendly It has your basic continental hot breakfast which was good

The room was large The king size bed slept comfortably The hotel was clean The pool area was relaxing It’s definitely not your best hotel in Dover but is much better than your budget hotels I will definitely stay here again It’s a better hotel than the one with the red colored roof in the area

Jim Kimball

I was a guest for 3 nights I had only 3 things I hoped for, a clean room, working TV and internet Well the room was clean and the internet worked but the TV went on the third evening

The staff was friendly and parking is free I didn’t use the pool so I can’t report on that One thing that wasn’t clean was the TV remote It was dirty like disgustingly dirty When I cleaned it the washcloth had brown stains on it Yuck

Cynthia Kettenburg

The breakfast there was disappointing

Watery machine made coffee, simple scramble eggs, some sausage No bread for toast, prepackaged small muffins, waffle maker The room was clean but the bath tubs had blackish stains on them Needed a good bleach treatment Some people sat out on a bench late at night making all sorts of noises going on until 1am, filter in the air conditioner could use a clean, My eyes were puffy every morning It was only a little busy because of the Dover air show

Customer service was very good but the rooms need to be upgraded the carpet and beds have stains from the pets previously and the rooms have an odor I guess from pets The TV picture was going from dark to light letting me know that it will soon be on the blank they need to remodel and update the rooms and extend the shower as well because it is very small And make sure that all TVs are working in the rooms because we had to change our room twice due to non-working televisions

Erin Cookson

OVERALL GOOD BUT

Staff friendly, breakfast is nice The pool was clean although no towels in there both times we went down, easy enough to ask at desk though The one issue i did have was the room (ROOM 430) we had REEKED of cigarette smoke I mean it punched you in the face every time you walked in My son and I smelled like cigarettes as soon as we left the room Also, the air conditioning unit in the bedroom was so loud you could barely think let alone sleep It sounded like an airplane taking off every time it kicked onSO LOUDI had to turn the air off at night so I could sleep So overall, the place is good besides room 430

Elaina Tyree

The upkeep of the rooms was terrible I was moved twice and did not feel like moving again so just stayed in the third room The stag was AMAZING the entire time and I understood there was only so much that they could do

My first room had a water problem, my second room had no AC, and the third room had the noisiest AC unit and it would wake me up at night when it turned on It sounded like a jet engine starting up These rooms have not been kept up with maintenance and there was a bunch of other little things wrong My room phone had no buttons, there was missing wall hardware, etc

Very nice hotel – very clean, fresh, almost seems new as it is very well kept up Service was excellent and kept the room clean with fresh towels and linen as requested I spent 10 days there and all the Staff were very helpful and made my stay very comfortable

Breakfast was hot with lots of choices and the coffee was available all day long and into the evening hours (Request Bacon be added to the Breakfast Menu though!) Thank you for making my long business trip away from Home very pleasant!

Kathy

Check between mattress they do not clean between or the edges or rooms, walls, check sheets yes bed bugs molt skinI gave it 2 stars because the staff aside from my room accommodation were friendly! The breakfast was good with many options, several ammentities on siteDetails of my stay June 20222am check in on the 2nd floor bed bug crawling on the wall, several molting bug skin on the sheets, floors were not vaccuum burrito reminents left all over

They bed is bleached so not spots are seenI have stayed at Hilton/Hamtpn Inn and opted to use them because higher standards and many have bedbug monitors to catch them before infesting, bugs happen but if Hampton Inn Middletown were actually cleaning the rooms correctly maybe it wouldn’t have happenedChanged rooms 3rd floor bug free thank God but the mattress has large stains, skirt is stained, food between mattress, again candy inbedded in the carpets your feet stick to it 4am we had an closing and chose to sleep bug free and wear shoesAfter-work 4pm I returned to 3 staff working and 1 cleaning staff still on shift Requested new sheets since night shift was unable to tell me how long those sheets had been sitting and room vaccuumed Management said, “change rooms, cleaning crew left and had 1 person here with 5 rooms left” I said no this room was bug free but needed vaccuumed She replied “bugs are not common and can changes rooms” I declined room change At which point she agreed to service my room but if I needed servie tomorrow I would need to let them know by 9am I assured her I would not need additional service after thatI did not return till 1am after moving a single father and 3 kids into his first home I found the beds made the same dirty candy filled bed skirts which I would assume the same sheets and the same candy on the floor! I had a flight to catch that morning and chose to go to bed I spoke to the manager and showed her photos Her response was “she saw the room but did not lift the mattress” When I requested service I made it clear the mattress appeared to have a 2lt of soda stain on it and we had left the bedspread so disarray you had to see the candy, sunflower seeds, pop corn and stains in order to fix it

Teresa

Very pleased with our stay at the Hampton Inn the rooms were clean (only problem is someone must have been smoking there) But they did a great job to clean it up IT is very sad that people feel it is ok to break the rules and be in considerate to the next guest who may not smoke

BUT that being said the rooms were large and clean and comfortable

I like this place The staff here are very helpful and kind They treat me here with respect, unlike other casinos

Also, I like their promotions I spent a lot recently Therefore, They give me free slot play every week on my card I also stayed here too The hotel rooms are very clean and comfy The pool and gym is open now I haven’t been to their gym or pool yet They have free water bottles inside the room I am giving it 4 stars because they usually have the AC on very high inside the casino Some people complained and made comments that it is very cold here They told me that it makes them want to leave I agreed with them It’s way cold I hope they can fix the AC temperature Also, some of their drinks at the vending machine are out There is no poker room here If they bring back poker they will get so much business I will give them 5 stars if they open the poker room back up I also drive 2 hours away to come to this casino instead of going to the ones in my area

Blessd Together

We had a wonderful visit here Father’s day weekend My Dad put us up for the weekend, we had a perfect room with a view of the track Even though the hotel was packed it WASN’T noisy at night

The pool was open we slept very well with no smoke smell & our room was very cleanwe walked out winners100s overThe only negative we would have to say would be with the food We ate at the sugar place & both of our plates were cold/tasted off Hubs had chicken Alfredo & I had the turkey club His Alfredo was cold but he said it had good flavor My turkey club tasted like it had turned To be fair they were extremely busy, we were seated right away & got our drinks but waited about an hour & half to 2 hours for our meal We still would stay here again & REALLY enjoyed this visit

E Mitche

This hotel has definitely gone down recently If you stay here bring your own snacks and food The restaurants are rarely open

No room service either The room was clean, but everything else is still closed, the pool, most restaurants, no coffee shop, no mini storejust a ghost town Just plan to play the games and lose your money!

Safe & Sound

I had the time of my life here this weekend 🥳 Tyra at the front desk was the most professional, caring, kind, friendly and welcoming as you will ever experience The house keepers, house men, kitchen staff & the older gentleman at night securing the lobby were all outstanding as well The hotel is clean & the rooms too, I booked 2 & they were definitely on point

🙌 Great job everyone & I am definitely going back 🙏

This hotel is NOT accessible I highly recommend that anyone in need of an accessible room or suite look for other hotels in the area Wheelchairs or scooters cannot easily maneuver around the extremely tight “accessible” rooms

The hotel was not willing to work with us when we voiced our concerns either We were told we could checkout with no refund or switch to a slightly “more accessible” room with 1 king bed despite requesting a room with 2 queens The room we switched to is also very small and difficult to move around in Very unimpressed and disappointed with this hotel’s service and accommodations I wouldn’t recommend staying at this locationUPDATE:Before going to bed, I noticed an abundance of hair that nearly covered the comforter completely I know that a lot of hotels don’t really wash the comforters, so that discovery wasn’t too shocking After a further inspection of the bed sheets, we found a ton of hair there as well (see pictures) We packed up and checked out immediately The manager wasn’t on site, so we’ll have to reach out tomorrow Not a great establishment 1/5

Jayne Krinick

One plus was that we were able to check in early and the staff have been pleasant But on the negative side, two days in a row we asked early in the morning to have our room cleaned and both days when arriving back to our room in the late afternoon the room had not been touched On the first day someone came to the room after we complained and did the bare minimum

They removed the dirty towels and trash We had to go the desk to ask for towels On the second day once again the room was not cleaned so we just placed our dirty towels and trash in the hall And again had to get more towels The sliding bathroom door is so heavy we could barely close and open it

This hotel is presented being renovated I got to stay in a newly renovated room The room was immaculately clean while having updated furnishings

The lighting quality of the room ranged between jarring (alien autopsy?) and pleasing Upon checking in, the kind hotel clerk told me that the hotel’s mattresses had been replaced about a month ago I am writing this review because I cannot fall asleep on my mattress that feels like a soft cobblestone street It appears that the entire Holiday Inn Express chain is replacing all of their formerly comfortable mattresses with soft cobblestone streets Why? Oh, why? Oh, why? They ruined a good thing Thank God I cashed in all my reward points for this stay Now I’ll need to find another chain with more comfortable mattresses

Mark Ratzlaff

The staff members here are exceptional for a chain hotel Despite the ongoing renovations, they were helpful, friendly, and patientOur room wasn’t *quite* done yet

little things that didn’t affect our stay were noticeable, like unfinished trim, a missing bar in the closet, etc That being said, this was the first bed in three hotels that didn’t feel like sleeping on a slab in a morgue The new blackout curtains are set in side channels, a clever design that really keeps all the light out The wifi is rock solid and the new TVs are HUGE The “executive suite” we got upgraded into because our chosen room was unavailable had loads of room to spread out The hot breakfast was relatively good, even including turkey sausage for the non-beast-eating set, and the staff supporting the buffet was fabulous despite the challenges from the ongoing constructionGreat value for the money in Dover

Hannah P

This is the 2nd time my husband and I have stayed at this hotel and everyone from,Julie the Manager to Antoine Asst Manager and Morning Front Desk to Terri Night Desk and Ms Marie who served breakfast one of the 2 mornings we stayed (I did not catch the other ladies name) however each and every encounter with these people were amazing!! They all were so kind and friendly! They would remember our names and made us feel so welcome! And let me not forget Jazzmine who Cleaned our room so well we felt as if she were cleaning so that she could feel comfortable enough to stay!! It was by far the cleanest room we have ever stayed in!! I highly recommend this hotel! The guests always have such wonderful stories and if you allow yourself the time you may just meet some really great friends!

These guys were great Allowing us to get into our room a bit early when we unexpectedly arrived earlier, clean rooms and a comfortable stay The only issue was on our end with leaving a toiletries bag behind

Russell and the hotel manager (can’t remember his name) have been super helpful in tracking down the lost item and being willing to ship it back to us This is saving me a few hundred dollars on my sons dental retainers that were left behind We’ll definitely stay again next time we’re out for a lacrosse tournament

Hotel is pretty decent for the tier it’s in Hotel looks a bit tired but is overall kept nice and clean and welcomingMy room had a broken window that wouldn’t stay closed and a loose toilet but otherwise was in good condition Bed was comfortable and room spacious and clean

I really like this hotel I will say that my first room it was taking some time for the heat to kick in but the young lady switched my room and all was well The hotel is kept clean, the staff is friendly, and breakfast isn’t bad at all for continental (except there is no bacon)

I will say that on this try I was on the first floor and you could smell that people were near by smoking but it wasn’t a big deal

Riley Robles

I have never written a review on anything IN MY LIFE! But this hotel was so bad that I have to Room smelled like cigarettes, floors were sticky, when I tried to take a shower the towels had hair on them from 3 PREVIOUS GUESTS The shower water turns cold and there is grime all over the bathroom

Not to mention there was hair all over the bathtub There was a dog in one of the rooms that barked all night ugh Overall condition of this hotel was extremely dirty which is UNACCEPTABLE during this pandemic we’re currently in As i’m writing this review a spider is crawling around the bathroom floor Do yourselves a favor and do not stay here, you have been warned!!

JWC Portraits

This might be the worst motel I have ever walked into The smell of cigarettes and urine was beyond what anyone should have to deal with The outside doors were broken and did not close

When trying to speak with management, after being escorted to the “hoarder style” office, the manager refused to deal with any of my concerns and informed me if I didn’t like it I could check out Do NOT waste your time even looking at this establishment the microtel across the street is hands down more clean, accommodating and doesn’t make my skin crawl when I walk into a room

While during our stay at the Residence Inn Dover Delaware, we had an incident where a personal item was left in our room when we checked out We immediately noticed this and return to the hotel an hour later where we were told that the personal item had not been turned in by house keeping an house keeping had left for the day We found it quite strange that there employees are not required to turn in all items left in the room, after all we as paying customers should have a time period for returning an retrieving our personal belongings that have been left behind

This left us in complete distrust of this particular hotel as it made us feel as though we were stolen from I want to mention that nothing like this has ever happened to us while staying at any other hotel in Dover This may be something you would like to consider when preparing for your stay here after all you would want to lay your head in a hotel that is honorable an respecting of you spending your money with them Be careful whomever reading this!

Ray Ardire

I am a titanium member which just means I am unfortunate to be on the road too much I almost never write a review The front desk service at the Dover Residence Inn is a zero star

The employee was annoyed I was checking in as he was sittingin the breakfast area They didn’t have my room I requested available No big deal except the front desk told me it was sold out I pulled it up on my Bonvoy app and showed him booking a new reservation it was available He assured me the Bonvoy app is NEVER correct Great representation from Marriott Just a terrible start to my stayMarriott has really become 2nd rate So sick of hearing about staffing shortages, everyone is dealing with it pay more to get staff

2much4u 2handle

I am usually an IHG user and wanted to use Marriott a little more What a mistake, the first room had an awful smell, smelt like heavy BO and mold After getting another room I ordered out and they wouldn’t let the person deliver to my room, and I travel with video production and travel all over the country

This is the first time the delivery person was not let up No more Marriott for me!

Our room looked like a museum display but was as comfortable as our bedroom at home Everything was extremely well maintained and immaculately clean The organization of reserving, checking in, coming-and-going while we were there, and checking out were all well planned

Even though things were efficient, the innkeepers were very personable, helpful and responsive to any request The location is a wonderful neighborhood and the Inn is itself a beautiful structure Breakfasts were outstanding We look forward to staying there again

Though you can sort of hear your neighbors and wood floors when walking, it is still a historic gem! Fred and Joan are very kind and no detail was left unturned Breakfast was fresh and delicious, and brought to the door at time of request

The cookies especially were amazing! If you are in the area, this is truly a great place to stay!

The customer service is HORRIBLE! I make a concerted effort to read everything online prior to making a phone call Since this is a spa, I went online to see a description of the massages offered I found nothing nor did I find the pricing, so I called

The rep answered the phone as if she was slightly bothered but I tried to ignore it I told her the pricing wasn’t online, long pause Then she tells me about an $118 massage, just a basic description, if you can even call it that I ask her “are there any other massages offers?” She gives me another generic description about a massage that is $135 then goes on about how the masseuse will hit a tight area if I ask I scheduled it then called right back and unscheduled; after I thought about it, people work too hard to enjoy good experiences for the people providing it to have bad attitudes regarding questions about their basic services

So, I read the reviews and I must admit several gave me pause to change my decision to get a massage on my birthday but I said let me be my own judge on this one and I was so glad that this one time I didn’t listen to the naysayers Toppers inside of Bally’s Casino (formerly Dover Downs) came through amazingly My massage therapist, Nakia, did an amazing job and I would definitely come back again

Thanks for starting my bday of right!!

Toppers was so great that I would return to Delaware and stay at Dover Downs just so that I could go to this spa! The staff was wonderful and the masseuse was excellent and accommodated my specific needs It was a little cold at first but warm in the room and the massage bed was heated! I left totally relaxed and felt like a star! I would definitely recommend this place

This not a 5 star hotel BUT the staff are incredibly kind and helpful The rooms are clean and comfortable The parking is safe

Plus it’s right next to the Jones River Walkway! And the view from our room was spectacular, plus there was a little bench you can sit and drink your morning coffee at We didn’t have the free breakfast but can only assume it’s like the rest of hotel breakfasts that I am generally not a fan of I’d stay here again for sure

I’ve stayed in Wyndhams from md to Vegas & I have to say I was not pleased with our room in this one

the bathtub need to be replaced, the mirror in the bathroom had a long black mark (not sure what it was) No extra pillow in the room (had no pillow for the pullout sofa) Now I will say it was between 10pm-11pm when we were doing the bed thing so we didn’t call down to the desk to see if we can get an extra pillow or 2, but normally they are in the room Besides the bathroom & pillow issue the rest of the place seemed nice People behind the counter were very nice when we checked in & out

I had the opportunity stay at this hotel for a night I suggest you keep expectations low if you are planning to book this hotelRoomGenerally clean; no coffee machine; no hair dryer; limited bath supplies; strange wall-to-wall mirror behind the bed’s headboard; tv was placed on top of an ugly closet, tilted to front, felt like it may fall down anytime; clean bath tub and sink; clean towels; clean bed; quiet heating / cooling unitServiceThe lady in the reception treats you like she does not want you to stay there

It seems like she hates her job Also, she is not friendly at allI can easily say that the hotel is managed by extremely cheap people It is obvious that they are trying to save money on every little thing There is a low quality coffee machine in the lobby, but that coffee unfortunately literally stinks There is a sign on the wall, stating that there is complimentary breakfast between 6:30 AM and 9:30 AM The breakfast is served in a brown bag (yoghurt and granola bar :)) which you pick at the reception and take to your room I was down a the reception at 9am and noticed the receptionist lady was trying to hide Finally, she stepped out to the main desk to check out another guest When I asked for a breakfast bag, she said breakfast is until 9AM It was 9:10am during this conversation I pointed at the wall sign and told her it must be available until 9:30am, and she again said it is until 9am Quite honestly, she did not seem like a normal person, so I did not want to get into any argument I was about to check out anywayThis place seems like a cheap hotel with low standards The management is trying to market it as they are facilitated with your expectations, but everything you see is low quality, and they make you feel like they have been fooling you, which I always find very rudeI WOULD NEVER EVER WOULD LIKE TO STAY AT THIS PLACE AGAIN!!!
