Antarctic Poison

A nice hotel with soaking tub and heated bathroom I stay there weekly on business Nothing fancy in the rooms but excellent price for the area

Air conditioning is a wall unit and these are a bit dated, so can be very loud However if you like white noise with sleeping, no big dealVery nice and professional staff

Daniel Zhang

I stayed here for a few nights when I visited LA over July 4th weekend in 2019 The hotel is in a convenient location right off a major road Both the day and night staff were very professional and courteous

The rooms were basic, but perfectly functional and decently quiet I appreciated the mini fridge and microwave There was also a large desk and chair where I could work on my laptop The toilet in the bathroom had a Japanese bidet with a heated seat and all kinds of settings, which was a first for me (this hotel seems to get a lot of Japanese business travelers) There was a restaurant and cafe in the lobby, but they never seemed to be openThe only major issue I experienced was that the parking lot was completely filled to capacity on multiple occasions when I came back late at night I mean not even a single parking space available When this happened, I had to parallel park overnight on an adjacent side street that was not very well-lit and littered with garbage

David Call

Only giving 2 stars because the staff is nice The hotel lacks every amenity that they showcase on their website No bar

No restaurant No coffee in lobby Cleaning service is not available unless by special request or else your room will only be serviced once a week The entire hotel outside of the lobby is dated and you feel like you are in a Best Western Tape on furniture Stains and dirty finishes Visible mold and grime I will definitely not come back here in the future and hope they can do better for the posterity of their hotel

We had a nice stay at this hotel and it was a positive experience overall We arrived a little bit early, around 1:30pm and we pre-checked in so that once our room was ready we could head up We were excited to try the restaurant but it closes and every customer must be out by 2pm

Seems a strange time to close down when you’re most likely to have guests waiting around for their rooms, interested in having drinks and food while they wait This was very inconvenient and one reason for a loss of a star The room was clean and pleasant with a lovely balcony Large shower with a tub inside, great bathroom with bidet and heated toilet seat Room was tidy, although desk chair was worn, with parts of the fabric missing It was fine I also took off a star for the exercise room They have one treadmill, one elliptical, one bicycle, and a couple of weight machines No free weights at all, not a single one There is one single mat to be used and that’s it I guess the guests here don’t tend to exercise much This was a disappointment for me, as I counted on at least a couple of free weights Parking was easy and overall we did enjoy our stay They only clean every other day, so if you’re staying for two nights like we did, you will not have your room cleaned during your stay

M Z

I’m very impressed by the tidiness of the facility and the hospitality of the staff here The room was sparkling clean and made me feel extremely COVID-safe I really loved the oversized shower tube and the super comfy bed

In addition, the restaurant affiliated with the hotel has very high quality food I loved the unagi don I ordered Make sure you order ahead of time because they can be busy during dinner rush hours!

This is a gem of a hotel located near Torrance with its own parking lot and extended lot for events The entrance is quite striking with blossom trees and very well kept entrance in keeping with the Japanese style The lobby sports a simple entrance with hotel lobby and check-in on the right and the Japanese restaurant directly opposite the entrance

There is a stunning fire built into the wall between the lobby and the bar in the restaurant also Rooms are a good sized and very well equipped King size bed is very comfortable and the room has a good tv with many channels to keep everyone happy Each room has a balcony with full height windows that can slide open to allow fresh air to enter There is a safe and a jewelry store and the room also comes equipped with tea and coffee and a coffee machine along with an iHome music player A working table with plugs for notebook and computer connectivity adjoins the window area making for a relaxing place to work The bathroom is well equipped with a toilet and bidet and a deep Japanese style bath for relaxing and a wet room shower AVeda shampoo and conditioners and bath salts are provided and available on request The hotel prides itself on its covid policy with each room being cleaned to a very high standard which gives confidence to guests Staying here is nice, it’s quiet so easy to work or relax There are antibacterial dispensers located in the elevators and a snack bar downstairs along with an ATM I highly recommend this hotel Great service, wonderful staff, super clean and totally in keeping with Japanese style with an awesome on-site Japanese restaurant on the ground floor

Great place to stay, we stayed 4 days here with family, the breakfast is included and is very descent, is not like a grab and go it actually includes eggs waffles, fresh fruit and stuff The service was great I cannot complain about this place at all, everything was clean, staff was nice and they have a coffee machine in the lobby with real Starbucks coffee beans, that was probably the best part for me

그레이스스쿨GRACESCHOOL

I had stayed over a month, staffs were kind and amazing Me and my boys were very happy The location is very convenient such as malls and grocery stores even good restaurants are 5 min

drive away They have free parking lot You have to check out Palos Verdes area and it’s 15 min away I enjoyed staying in Best Western Plus Avita Suite and love Torrance I will definitely come back later

Kaeby

Whatever problems there might be don’t matter as long as they keep doing that breakfast I’m not a morning person at all, but I’m willing to keep getting up before 9am just to get that amazing amount of free food (the only complaint I can think of is how blah the turkey links are, but they got plenty of condiments you can throw on top if you like that sort of thing)Grace (who worked the 5/4 breakfast) got my tip, but it’d be nice if management gave her a bigger one *hint hint*

I’ll update if there are other amazing breakfast staff that work the rest of the week Front desk service on 5/3 was super nice and personableThe rooms (or at least ours) was significantly smaller than expected; even our queen-sized bed barely fit two people I also don’t know if this is every room, but our bathroom was just a shower rather than a shower-bathtubThe main reason we booked this rather than the Extended Stay was because the reviews for the other hotel said that there were “crackheads” that wandered around the parking lot and into the lobby Well BW’s parking lot and their’s is only separated by a short wall We haven’t seen any shady characters wandering around though, so make of that what you will

This is the second time staying here and I plan on booking again in the future! The staff is always friendly and the cleaning staff is just wonderful and kind! The first time there was a different variety every other day for breakfast This time unfortunately it was the same stuff everyday and I would rather not warm my frozen food with the plastic on it in a microwave but that seemed to be the only option they have now And the washer/dryer definitely need an update

Other then that it was great as usual Again I want to applaud the GREAT staff!

Gwen

Check in was a breeze, I got there early and it wasn’t a problemThe beds were to low and to soft forThere were several outlets near the bed which is a plus due to medical equipmentThis hotel is near the freeway and close to several restaurants

There were too many compact parking spaces which is minor but can be inconvenient if coming in late and you have to walk around the building by yourselfI didn’t eat breakfast I only seen pork products however I did like the fact that it was individually wrapped There were bagels and other stuff but we passedEveryone that I came in contact with was very nice and helpful Even though the bed wasn’t for me but the location is everything I would stay again

Ben C

Great for a short stayFrom bad to good

The bad 1) Our air didn’t work Hot or cold 2) Our room was not serviced or cleaned I’m not sure if we had to request this But most hotels (even small motels) do this automaticallyNot a deal breaker but worth noting 1) Small continental breakfast 2) Bad location for the TV It was in the middle of where the bed was and the couch was So bad angle and hurts your neck after a whileGood 1) The beds were extremely comfortable 2) Staff was nice and courteous 3) Good hotel location 4) Fair pricing 5) Pretty quiet for a hotel so close to the airport 6) Air purifier in the room adds a nice touch 7) Desk was perfect to get some work done

Very close to Redondo Beach, restaurants, drug stores, etc Staff was very friendly Our room was clean and cutely decorated with beach theme

Good size fridge and microwave included There was a cold filtered water station in the lobby to fill your water bottles The continental breakfast exceeded my expectations waffles (flavored changed daily), scrambled eggs, sausage, breakfast potatoes, coffee, tea, juice, fresh fruit, bagles, hard boiled eggs in other words you will be full for your day adventure! Parking was free, easy and included some covered spots

Deanna Maria

The manager refused to help and purposely ran off after their system DOUBLE CHARGED our family’s card account for a PREVIOUS date of service of a former stay He left his poor employee to handle the issue on her own and then had the NERVE to come back the next day and call us liars to our bank (even though the employee confirmed it)… We DO NOT RECOMMEND this business because of the lack of accountability and UNPROFESSIONALISM of their supervisors If I didn’t complain urgently enough, they would’ve let us sleep on the street with our newborn!!

This is a newer hotel The staff is friendly and attentive The maid wrote me a little note

Nice breakfast The side facing away from the 91 freeway is quiet The bed is comfortable and the bathroom gives you space The only shortcoming is the room uses 5W LED bulbs, so it is too dim to read at the desk and too dark to read in bed I am glad I brought my selfie light for a Zoom meeting or I would have been a black silhouette Everything else was good

Kati Ventura

The room itself was clean and comfortable, but they refused to give towels to accommodate the guests on our reservation 2 towels for 4 people doesn’t work out so well! And the towels and sheets were THIN We had to ask the front desk DAILY for enough towels and were met with an attitude of being inconvenienced

Bedspreads are yucky despite being white and likely bleach-able Beds aren’t awful but not very comfortable- imagine waking up aching the next day kinda not comfortable Breakfast is dismal, and the pool requires a reservation for only 50 minutes Bathroom fan, outlet and room phone didn’t workThe worst part, however, is the front desk staff They’re pretty rude, unhelpful and could use some training in common decency It seemed many were VERY busy playing on their phones instead of answering a quick questionThe bonus is location- it was in the middle of most of the reasons we came to visit However, in the future, we will likely look elsewhere for accommodations

Jesse Dayton

Housekeeping staff stole from my room! Stayed here 8-1 to 8-6-2022, had room freshened up Thursday 8-4 There was no outlet by the bed, had to charge my phone at the silver lamp on the right corner of the desk in the room Left Thursday morning, the iphone charger was there, came back Thursday night, it was gone

I checked all my belongings, every nook and cranny of the room, checked the car, checked the job site I was at to make sure I didn’t misplace it, nowhere to be found If they needed $10 for a charger, I would have given it to them To steal from guests, that is totally not acceptable The hotel would have gotten 3 stars if not for that The property is old and badly needs a remodel The parking area is patrolled by security which is nice The shower had plenty of hot water and had good pressure The beds were comfortable enough There is a lot of traffic noise If you are a light sleeper, don’t stay here, you won’t get any sleep The Gardina Freeway (91) is on one side and Albertoni Street is on the other and has a on/off ramp to the Gardina Freeway (91) so there is a lot of traffic noise no matter which side of the hotel you’re on I was on the Albertoni side, one of my coworkers was on the freeway side, we both noticed how much noise there was The AC worked good in my room but one of my coworkers had a problem with theirs If you need a place to stay and this is your only option, this will probably work, just don’t call housekeeping if you have any valuables laying around!

Room was larger than expected and the beds were comfortable it’s an older property but so close to EVERYTHING!! highly recommend Ocean Cafe (40’s diner) had the lemon ricotta pancakes that were on the special Y

U M!!! Mich better than the muffin coffee and yogurt the hotel offers Hot tub was great but it was a little dirty and the sign regarding diarrhea wasn’t very comforting either We will be back

Dj Dj

The hotel is not new, but it is well maintained, and clean The rooms are nice and spacious, and some have small balconies that you can see the ocean Refrigerator in the room, and kurig coffee maker, but if you want use of the hotels single microwave, you have to go to the lobby ( weird )

They have a small exercise room, but the treadmill and bike were both out of order, so it is basically a rack of dumbbells They offer breakfast, but are still using COVID as a excuse to get out of serving it It’s an ok place to stay, but it’s just a room at this point No extras It was $140 a night, and not far from the water 20-30 minute walk, or a 3 minute car ride Honestly, it’s about 3 1/2 stars (Could have been higher, but no breakfast, no microwave in room, and the exercise equipment broken)

darren s

Curtains were torn up, room smelled of mildew and the staff was less than “worst service ever” Totally ruined the Quality Inn name for us and will never use this hotel line again after our experience here, despite having been loyal guests for years Spend double and go down the street to anywhere else or you’ll be regretting your whole vacation like it did to ours

Then they wanted to charge a surprise parking fee for using their facility while we were paying guest And it doesn’t end there They kept our deposit claiming a smoking fee when we never smoked on the property at all They are only interested in stealing your money here, from check-in to check-out

Had a big family reunion at the hotel! They were very accommodating with the family, with all of the check ins and the use of the Catalina room for games and activitiesOur specific room had a lovely view of the ocean The sliding glass door to our room had great noise canceling as well

We were able to hear live music from a local car show with it open and then close it to take a nap Great room, clean and functional, no issues!

Christina

Checking in for our reservation was fast and the hotel is walking distance to the pier The hotel is decorated nicely There is a bar in the middle of the lobby as well as a gift shop

My room had a decent view of the ocean and was a nice size The bed soft and comfy For one night the room was about $250, parking $32 and deposit $100

Sea & Bill Peterson

This Sonesta is outstanding The staff were wonderful, especially Angel Luis, the manager, was amazing

The only downside is the parking situation The fees are high and the automated system was not functioning People playing their personal music by the pool was irritating; especially the young kids and their heavy metal sounds We had to close our doors and go inside, despite having notified the front desk It would have been handy to have a restaurant on site

Amazing service!!!Definitely recommend for clean rooms and tons of space for hosting eventsWe just hosted our wedding at this location and were AMAZED at how great the service wasThis particular Marriott’s Senior Event Manager, Elissa, truly went above-and-beyond in ensuring we received all the help we needed, fulfilled every request, and was very proactive from day 1

Our guests who stayed at this hotel also told us about how much they enjoyed their stay, as this is a place that has pretty much everything on site (restaurant, coffee place, room service, etc) It was close enough to the freeways to allow for an easy drive in and was right across the street from a major shopping center, so it was in a pretty nice and lively areaThe hotel staff were also very accommodating with all of our guests who checked in, as I remember we had a few folks who needed XYZ support and it seemed like they definitely got it when they arrivedI also found this hotel to be very military friendly, as we had a small military service held here and they seemed more than okay with us doing our thingAlthough it is a bit pricey, I think it is well worth it because it seems like the staff and management really go all out to support the guests and ensure they have what they needI would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to host a major event (they have HUGE ballrooms that take up 3 floors of space!) and I’d also recommend it to anyone looking for a nice room to stay in with easy access to local food and drink, as they have both on siteIf you do plan to host an event here (like a wedding or a work meeting or whatever), I would highly recommend Elissa as she was really great to us and gave us a ton of supportThank you, Elissa!

Rooms are nice Looks like it was recently renovated Hotel is very busy; hard to get any upgrades

Very convenient to the mall next doorStaff very friendly and professional While they weren’t able to check me in when I arrived, they did their best to get me a decent room as soon as possible

Iwanda Williams

The hotel itself is beautiful But when I made my reservations and paid for this room, I was not informed that it was a hold of $100 per night until I arrived at the hotel The manager did reduce the hold but I ask for the corporate office number

Everything I call the number it’s a fast busy signal I will not stay at this overrated hotel again

My wife and I were traveling recently and stayed at this hotel for 3 nights The hotel was clean, the front desk personnel were friendly and helpful The interior courtyard had a pool and fire pit which was a nice peaceful area with mature palms and nice landscaping

We used the laundry facilities, everything worked great Overall, a great experience and we would recommend this hotel to all travelers BTW, this is a pet friendly hotel,

Dan Welte

I had a great 1 night stay here last week Outstanding staff, highlighted by Lawrence and Rafael who were both very accommodating of me and some special needs I had while my dog battles down the street for her health Sonesta Select in Torrance is a warm, thoughtfully appointed environment in which to stay and work

They have a nice private courtyard with a pool and many outside tables They have a coffee bar, and the best feature of all is their massive lobby filled with tons of tables, chairs, TV’s and private booths This is a great place to take a meeting or get work done The beds and pillows are comfortable and most rooms have a narrow balcony if you need to burn one (which I don’t) The rooms are really clean Welcome to the West Coast, Sonesta I’m impressed

TheBayArea831

We enjoyed our stay The lobby is clean and staff is very helpful They have a coffee station in the lobby

Computers with a printer Parking is free, plenty of it The room was good Had big windows, I was able to keep a good eye on my car 🙂 They offer a pool with sitting areas Gas fire pit was cool Only reason I did not give 5 stars, there was leftover garbage in hall from the previous people that used the room We were not able to make coffee in the room, it was not stocked up with creamer/sugar But we will stay again if we are in the area

My family staying here after an accident at my parents home Staff helped us get adjoining rooms on 1 hour notice Then helped us move parents to the closest handicapped-accessible toom within a week

Breakfasts are wholesome and variety is good Cleaning staff is accommodating Rooms are generally quiet Gated parking is a plusThe only thing is that carpet and hard floors are so old and dirty they are sticky and socks turn black in a day Would love it if floors were steam cleaned periodically

We’re staying here right now and I have to admit that the property is great in every way The location is perfect Close to beach and many stores

CVS is next door for any urgent needs!Rooms are spacious and clean They are dated but very well maintained I’m fussy about looking at corners for dust and I haven’t spotted dusty corners yetWe’re traveling with two small kids and the staff have been very accommodating There’s a park right across for the kids too (a great suggestion from one of the staff!)Breakfast was a wonderful start to the day Good variety and another big bonus when travelling with kiddos

Our Uncle made a reservation for this hotel with his reward points as he is a Best Western reward member We received an email with vouchers We called the hotel to make sure they had our reservation and were confirmed by the person answering the phone and sent an email with the confirmation number on it

We were driving from Southern California we arrived about 1:45am When my husband went in to check in he was told they were getting ready to do night audit and they would be with him in about 15 minutes He came out to the car and went right back in and was told oh we’re ready for you now He gave the gentleman his reservation and vouchers gentlemen said the voucher numbers had been difficult as it was in the middle of the night we offered to pay for the room outright and were told there were no rooms available How is that possible when we had a room reserved in our name Whether or not it was by voucher or by S paying cash the room should have been available Guy was very rude to my husband and we will never stay at this hotel We were forced to try to find a hotel at 2 o’clock in the morning and after have been confirmed that we had rooms at this hotel

Such an Exquisite Hotel and Grandeur presence Entire hotel immaculate and rooms are well appointed I like that the sink is outside/separate of the shower and toilet area

The shutter that divides the two beds is a genius idea The decor is elegant and traditional but yet felt modern The room size was massive for a standard double room It felt like a 500 sq ft room The coffee in the room was very goodUnfortunately, we only stayed one day and arrived late so we didn’t get to eat at the restaurant or enjoyed the outside courtyard nor the many areas to explore and to just relax and soak in the atmosphere We did, however, get to enjoy the fireplace while having a late night snack I would highly recommend eating at the restaurant as the food smelled heavenly Additionally, there are many shopping centers/plaza across the street which we didn’t get to take advantage of as well The entire area is completely safe and very well lit as it is a very lively town The hotel does have a private parking for a fee I will definitely come back and stay longer

Ayres Hotel is comfortable and homely Staff are friendly and we loved the pool and spa Rooms were serviced daily and everything was spotlessly clean and today

Location is good, next time I would ask for a room not overlooking the freeway Stayed here with my husband and adult son Plenty of room for the three of us and privacy between the beds and the shutters were a great idea We will be back!

The employee that was on the desk the night of my arrival was very professional and he greeted me with a sincere and warm welcome I was so exhausted from the work day, that he had to literally verbally guide me to my room The room was exceptionally clean throughout which made the night very relaxing for me

I will truly recommend this hotel to my guest and use it again for local retreats

For some unknown reason this courtyard hotel will not allow food and beverage credits to be applied towards alcohol/drinksUsed suite night awards to upgrade to a one bedroom suite The hotel overall is okay and the staff is helpful

I will probably be back again unless I can find a courtyard in the area that allows more thorough usage of the food and beverage credits

First at all I want to say thank you to the manager of front desk and one of the front desk ladies who, unfortunately, I don’t know the name of They were incredibly professional and friendly

I had a problem with my reservation and couldn’t arrive because one of my family members got COVID, and they were able to help me In the future, I hope that I’m able to actually stay in this hotel I really appreciate all their help because I had a similar situation with another Marriott hotel and they were rude and incomprehensible

I didn’t lodge here My late parents’ friend visiting from Alabama stayed at the hotel She loved it

We had a late dinner in the dining room! It was great and the service was top-notch! I love the DoubleTree hotels We used them for Continuing Medical Education courses that were offered by my previous employer They live up to the highest of standards If you desire the best accommodations and excellent service you’ve come to the right place Also, they have a very nice sports barlots of great seating and plenty of televisions for every sport you could possibly desire! They have so many excellent accommodations for receptions and other special gatherings Be sure to include them as a possible venue when planning an event

My stay was awesome besides I wasn’t offered any of the complimentary items during the checking in process A mention of a breakfast ticket would of save me the embarrassment of going back to my room to get my wallet During my 5 day stay I had to request towels twice on my fourth day

To any future guest it’s only a reminder to acquire these amenities as well as dry cleaning if necessary My stay was very quiet for as busy as this hotel gets, to explain why I gave it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I stayed at the Doubletree in Carson, CA from 5/20-5/22 and it was a good experience The front desk hostess was very professional and courteous

My room was clean and comfortable-no signs of any critters I had the $20 breakfast buffet and the staff was incredible and the food was good! My only qualm was that my waffles were cold The coffee was good I liked the location, very close to the South Bay Pavilion Mall and other establishments My reasons for giving this hotel 4/5 stars is that it is a bit dated and that I didn’t appreciate the two young ladies behaving badly and immaturely while I was at the front desk checking in This gives the hotel a bad look for the staff I assume these two young ladies were housekeepers

This was an upscale hotel which seemed to be nicer than the area it was in The staff was attentive and very friendly The facility was young and in top condition

The beds were full size – queens would be much betterThey had clear security measures in place everywhere While I appreciate them keeping me safe, it made me think that the measures might be necessary and therefore I wasn’t as relaxed as I wanted to beWe stayed here for proximity to LAX for a morning flight and we would be happy to do so again

The rely is not true I did not receive 20% off for my inconvenience My card was charged $454

00 for 2 nights I will post receipts if you post another misleading rely Upon my 2 day visit to the holiday Inn I was put in a room with a toilet that went out I was informed the hotel was sold out I had to remain in the room (GROSS) I did remain because checkout was at 11 am I ask for a credit for my inconvenience I was told a manager would have to contact me While checking out, I asked again and the staff spoke loudly you want a discount I found that rather ignorant and felt uncomfortable I was told I would get 20% off and it never happened Bottomline, I never received a credit and my $5000 hold was never removed from my credit card The staff act like they don’t understand English I don’t recommend this location

Sergio dC

Hotel is kind like not close to anything walkable and the restaurant has limited hours Just a “bulk hotel” with lots and lots of people but, the rooms are quiet Beds were comfy, great size pool and jacuzzi

Breakfast: you’ll probably end up paying for it so I’ll recommend to go somewhere else for that 4 stars based on the restaurant hours and that they’ve wanted to charge me for breakfast (you have to order whst you want so you better have an extra 20 minutes under your belt)

We came here for a two-day retreat and had a fabulous time due to the attentiveness of the staff Our event planner, Danielle, was outstanding as well as Jesse, who took care of our every need, and Joshua, who provided delicious, carefully curated and crafted breakfast and lunch – he took the time to listen to our vegan and gluten-free staff to cook specialty meals for them, as if they had their own private chef We had such a good, relaxing time and the front desk staff made us feel at home

Enjoyed the fitness room and other amenities in this sweet little hotel It’s sitting there off the freeway so it’ looks ominous But it’s so quietly and lovely inside

Mario de la Pena

Front desk staff was warm and welcoming But the hotel room itself wasn’t that great The smoke detector was barely secured and was just hanging by the wires

The bathroom sink had a strong unpleasant odor whenever you run water The bathtub plug was missing The carpet was dirty The refrigerator’s shelving was not installed correctly The hallways smelled like weed(but thats probably from the other guests) Housekeeping knocked on our door at 8:40am asking when we will be checking out which is contrary to what they advertise(staff will not bother you unless you ask for service) Breakfast costs $12 for continental or $16 for hot food, which isn’t worth it I don’t think I would return to stay at this location in the future

Miki Murphy

Hotel was average Had noisy neighbors didn’t sleep Although did get informed of free breakfast when arrived by cold food selection was actually 16 dollars When requested room to be cleaned as staying the week (per signs in room) was told they don’t clean them and I could borrow a vacuum if I wanted

Covid mask mandates are lifted, not sure what the reason a room can’t be cleaned Or remove signs that say you can request room cleaning during your stay
