The location and staff are OK, especially Daniel (the maintenance man, who was as friendly and as helpful as he could be) The cleanliness of my room and how it was handled once reported, was less than a zero-ratingWe checked into the hotel in the evening, it was not until the following morning that I took a shower and noticed vomit on the back of the bathroom door handle, the shower curtain, and the bathtub floor

We reported this to the front desk (in person), asked that the room and bathroom (+ new shower curtain) be done while we were out for the day We returned several hours later to find that our door was unlocked (deadbolt blocking the door closing), the shower curtain was replaced, and the room and bathroom were not cleaned (so much for a “COVID clean”) I went back to the front desk (in person) to discuss this with them, explaining this is not about the money, it is about the cleanliness They were overall dumbfounded, then called me and comped 1 of 4 nights for me As I appreciated this, I asked to speak with the manager and gave the front desk my number They said they texted the manager and I waited Still at the time of writing this, no call That shows huge disrespect, no care, and poor management at this hotel

Overall it was a very comfortable stay The bed was firm and sufficiently warm, plenty of quality tv and streaming options, and a nice view of sparkle car wash/motor works However, when we arrived the floor was wet due to being shampooed and there were no trash bags

Also, the breakfast was subpar Then again I don’t expect much from Hotel Continental breakfasts anymore

I will say that the rooms here are nice, modern and spacious with plenty of room and storage That is one of the few great things going on with this placeOn the other hand:Breakfast is a joke but it is included so I can’t really complain too much about it

Parking here is horrible Such tight spots and lack of spots You can never tell if there is any spots available and if you pull into the parking structure and see that all spots are taken, you have to reverse out because you can’t turn around So you better hope there is nobody behind you The staff here is a mix bag Guy in breakfast absolutely doesn’t care about anything It is embarrassing what he mumbles under his breath and seeing his actions Front desk staff is nice but I have been here several times (5-6 times) and have been thanked for my loyalty once I never get upgraded and sometimes it shows that they really don’t care what Bonvoy status you areOverall it is a decent place I like how modern it is and it isn’t old like the other Fairfields but there are several bad kinks about this place and most can be fixed

Great place, friendly people, really good bartender at happy hour Breakfast was FREE Parking was $10, but you could prob get around that

Location is greatMy only issue with our room was it had a frosted glass door which shined light thru all night My wife requires the bathroom light on so she can see in the middle of the night It would be helpful if all hotels had night lights and toilet bowl lights

Dr Chef

By far one of the most affordable Marriotts I’ve ever stayed at The trundle bed was a great surprise and my teens loved having their own bed Never disappoints; beds were so comfortable, rooms were big and very clean

I loved the window covers to shut light out, they were amazing!! Location was perfect for us to visit family, we will stay here again Grateful for the no pet policy

Tldr; good amenities, phenomenal service from staffThe service at the Springhill Suites downtown Athens location is beyond any expectation I would have of any hotel, even a 4+ star hotel I am honestly surprised it is listed as a 2 star hotel because the amenities are very nice

Huge outdoor fire pit, good coffee with premium syrups to add in, nice gym and good parking situationBut I want to talk about the peopleI had an emergency and had to come up late at night from Atlanta to take my cat to UGA veterinary teaching school for surgery One of my friends was kind enough to book this hotel for me using his points He put it under my name but had the last name wrongI called before arriving and spoke with Doug Beeman and explained the situation and the name mixup, he quickly, kindly, and efficiently resolved the issue and let me know I am free to arrive at any time that night he will be there to welcome me and get me checked inUpon arrival he was extraordinarily kind I told him a bit about my cats situation and he shared his personal experiences with UGA and how wonderful and competent they are which was very comfortingHe made the check in process not just simple, but memorable His kindness and compassion will stay with me for a life time He deserves any kind of credit, raise, or commendation that can be givenIn the morning I went down to check out the complimentary breakfast Every amenity is good or better at this hotel Again, great coffeeI spoke with Hunter in the morning to ask when Doug would be back on and told him how nice he was, Hunter was like yup that sounds like Doug, he’s a great guyI then not only locked myself out of my room, but also outside the backdoor of the hotel (good security!) when I went out for a smoke and coffee Hunter noticed me at the door from the front desk and came to let me in promptly I joked about how I left both my room keys in the room He started preparing a new one for me and went ahead and gave me 2 (without me asking) to help my odds of not locking myself out againEven my brief interaction with one of the cleaning ladies was extremely pleasant, I failed to get her name unfortunatelyAll in all, great hotel that should be at least 3 stars BUT, the staff make this a 5 star experience I’ve been all over the world and this is the best and most memorable customer service I have ever receivedDoug Beeman is a wonderful human being and deserves nothing but happiness, and maybe a couple raisesHunter is also a very nice gentleman with great customer service, A-freaking-+

Overall the stay was okay My only complaint is that the room wasn’t clean The floors were filthy

I went to wipe down the bathroom floors, and black dirt came up off of it There were also dead crickets on the carpet in the room area It was made to appear clean, but it wasn’t With Covid still going around, and now monkey pox, you would think sanitation would be a top priority People are traveling from all over, and are constantly in and out of these rooms The lack of cleanliness needs to be addressedOther than that, it was easy to book The room was ready when we arrived Easy check in and out Staff was friendly, and the rooms were quiet The location was very convenient as well They just need to work on the housekeeping

Kijuana Compton Marks

Update after check outSo I’m not going to change the overall score but I do want to say that I have never had front desk come to my door at 930 am and ask me if I was checking out and what time I would be leaving Check out is 11

Do I get a discount for feeling rushed? NO But I definitely felt unwelcome at that point It bothered me because there was no need I wasn’t late with check out, I wasn’t causing issues Unlike the family next door whose children were running in and out Down the hall and on the elevatorAnomaly? MAYBE! Will I come back to this location? DoubtfulThis is an older hotel, but the staff is extremely friendly1 I had to wait to check in but that was okay I sat in the lobby area I recommend that they do a better job cleaning the tables2 The room was nice and clean There wasn’t any bedding for the sofa sleeperOverall my initial impression was satisfactory Maybe I expected a bit more for 200 per night I understand supply and demand but I’ve paid less in Miami

Chris Rolls

This is a pretty nice place Clean, professional, good breakfast (a rarity now) but it’s NOT like Hampton I’m used to The beds are small and hard; The pillows are something out of a Dollar store; the fridge and microwave are placed right on the floor…like a Motel 6

Again, it’s a decent, good at most hotel, but NOT the likes of others for the same price range It’s NOT a Hampton

Loved the room, very clean and spacious Complementary breakfast was good, plenty of seating and a comfortable casual atmosphere Couldn’t visit the bar during our stay but it looked immaculate and there was a nice pool table and outside seating to enjoy

Within walking distance to restaurants and shops, very close to a walking trail as well Also pet friendly which is a big plus, and every employee was kind and courteous The only negative is you have to valet park your car, but valet was very fast and kind as well Would absolutely come here again to explore more of Athens!

PhOtOg

We practically lived in this homewoods suite for over a two month period We enjoyed the only two bedroom suite around that area for an incredible price! The staff was friendly and helpful, the manager appeared to care and was on top things The room was always clean and we had everything we needed

Home away from home Everyone on the staff was pleasant to interact with, our favorite was the valet guy, Sterling! He always greeted us with a smile while he took great care with all three of our vehicles while having a fun attitude! I highly recommend this hotel, we would never stay anywhere else while enjoying the Athens area I almost forgot to mention the most important part! They are the most dog friendly hotel ever They accommodated our every need Our three French bulldogs felt perfectly at home each time we stayed there They loved having ice from the ice machine and watching activity out of the big windows We love this Hilton and that is why we are proud Hilton Diamond Members!

Susan Headley

If you need a place to stay in Athens, this is your place! If you need a place to stay with a group, reach out to Phillip in sales! The rooms are clean and spacious, the staff were professional and kind, and while the valet is required – they are quick and efficient when dealing with your vehicle Now, probably one of the best thing about your stay here, the breakfast! You will leave to start your morning with a full tummy and ready to conquer your day! Don’t sleep through it – make sure you get the breakfast! You will not regret it!!! While I cannot remember all of their names, every person I have worked with at the front desk have been a delight to work with There was some confusion with our business card, but they took the time to make sure everything went smoothly

OH and they have a quaint little bar area with a pool table and other games/tv, which was a great place to wind down after work before going up the the room! And the outdoor green space with plenty of seating and outdoor grills! They really do have everything to make you feel you are at your home, away from home!

I can not review the rooms because I did not make it that far Not a good area at all for trying to park and check in The area looked dangerous and when they say they have 24/7 security that doesn’t make you feel better

A pit bull dog was running around the parking lot, with the owner nowhere to be seen So, I left and went to a better looking area hotel

Ashley Hall

I only ever post positive reviews, but this has been one of the most disheartening experiences I’ve ever dealt with We arrived at this hotel after driving for 8 hours to a room that had foot marks on the bed When we called the front desk, they laughed at us

We asked if we could get our money back and find somewhere else to go (at 11 at night) and they stated absolutely We received a receipt with the “refunded” amount and we went on our way 2 months later and we are still fighting for our almost $600 The manager refuses to talk to us and hangs up on us I’ve never had an experience like this before Absolutely horrible service We will NEVER stay at a best western again, especially not this one Fortunately for us, we still have that receipt from that night as well as an email stating they were going to refund us, so the credit card company is working on everything on our end Glad some customer service still exists **edit-our credit card company worked with best western and hotelscom and got us our money back, thankfully We saved an email that a hotel staff member sent us saying he tried to refund our stay, which is how we ended up getting our money back as the hotel first tried to refuse our refund I’m absolutely disgusted with this chain of hotels Our reservation wasn’t in my name, but in my Fiancé’s name, which is why you don’t show a record of me staying there We will never stay at your hotel or another Best Western again**

Booked thru ExpediacomGood points- manager was friendly and has great customer service listening skillsStayed on exterior room

Floors are nasty, doors need to be wiped down Security bolt was missing a screw  Bathroom was filthy, grout in tile was caked in dirt  Air vent was plastered in filth  Never came into the room to pick up trash  Took the old towels, and didnt replace  Paid $645 for 2 nights This was not worth it at all

I’m really enjoying my stay here so far The bed is not amazing, but the food was fantastic I had the power bowl this morning and it was delicious

The service was also greatThe TVs are not really up-to-date, which isn’t a big deal, but it would be nice to be able to access my personal services, such as NetflixThe desk and work area is actually comfortable and the natural light is very helpful

Brenda Franklin

Room was perfect I stayed one week and asked for the trash to be emptied, they emptied the trash but didn’t replace the bags I had to call and ask for them After that I would put my trash in the snack/ice room where there is a large can and it took 3 days for that to get emptied, I was not the only one putting trash in there it was piled up by the time it was cleaned

They could use a little more cleaning on the extended stay floor, other than that is was wonderful

Eric Heffner

Upon initial appearance the hotel looked fairly nice but not so much after looking around The room was really outdated and in need of maintenance The staff was lethargic at best and the price is not equal to what you get

No room service and we had to use our wet towels because there was any service at all Either lower the price or go back to full service COVID is old news

Springhill suites never disappoints so it’s the staff that can make or break a trip The front desk staff was wonderful! Isabella helped us at check in and gave great recommendations for local places to eat She was super friendly and helpful during our whole stay

We had quite a large group staying there for a wedding in April and the other front desk staff were also really nice! I wish I would have gotten all their names The woman who was working the breakfast area was also super friendly Definitely felt the southern hospitality during our stay!

Takia Cooper

Very nice … Had to stay here for work Travel as stated the hotel was very nice Breakfast bar had something different everyday

The staff was helpful as well, especially Mr Chris he took the time to help me get all of my reservations correct he even went above and beyond and got me and my coworkers a room next to each other for the next 3 weeks, that is what you call amazing customer service

Michele Rizer

For a large chain like this that is not on the lesser expensive side, I expect more The first room we were given had someone else’s change on the floor and food crumbs and not a few either which meant our room was not vacuumed (after something that obvious was missed we didn’t want to check further on cleanliness) We did ask for a change of rooms (hence the 5 star rating on the service) and we were given a room very quickly and she made sure it was on the same floor to make it as easy on us as possible

The second room had food particles but only in the crevices under the bed against the platform (everything else was good) so it had been cleaned but was still a little “meh”

I really enjoyed my stay the 2 days we were there The rooms were a lot better than they were 2 years ago before the pandemic I actually got a good night sleep for once and the bed was comfortable

The room was clean and the young lady at the desk was very friendly and she helped us when we had an issue with the lamps that wouldn’t work

Joshua Dellen

I stayed in a suite and when I went to get a shower noticed I had no towels or showered curtain Okay so I went and got that Then a few hours later I used the bathroom and there was no toilet paper

Then the TV kept freezing up and I talk to the girl on 3rd shift and she was rude and did not help at all she said she was busy I then asked for her to at least make sure I had late check out she said I did and I get called to leave my room at normal time This was the most uncomfortable stay I had in a long time I wasted my points to have a relaxing stay that was not even close

Jackie Pierce

I was very disappointed There was storm blow dryer didn’t work, business center didn’t work and the owner accused me of smoking He was very rude when he called meI told him I was traveling and he said he didn’t care what I was doing

I’ll never stay there againHe needs training in social skills

Michael Slater

The staff here was vey kind and helpful However, our stay was far from great My wife and I checked in late at night, around 11 PM or so

Upon walking into our room, we immediately noticed that it was HOT, despite the air conditioning being on the highest and coldest setting We thought “perhaps the staff turned the AC on just before we checked in” and since we were very tired, we decided to tough it out in hopes that the room would cool down while we slept It did not The sweltering heat kept us tossing and turning all night The decor was very cool, but as many others have commented, it is not enough to turn this old one or two-star motel into a four-star hotel Fortunately, we booked our room using the Summer on Sale promotion, so we are not out much money I would absolutely not pay the list price for a stay at this location This was our first and likely last stay at a Graduate I had always heard rave reviews about their hotels, but after this experience, I cannot say we are willing to take a chance on any of their other locations during our travels

Slade

The best thing about The Graduate is their marketing Their online presentation is far more spectacular than the actual hotel First the positives: The hotel staff was very friendly, the hotel felt safe, the rooms were clean and the decorations had a good vibe

The beds were super comfortable The negatives: I found locating the lobby confusing It’s the long brick building when you enter the parking lot Like many other reviewers have complained, the rooms are very musty You do become nose blind quickly but could be an issue for people with allergies The hotel advertises itself as hip but other than the room decor there is nothing of real interest at the hotel itself The worst part is it feels like a money trap You must pay $10 additional for parking, if you use their internet it crawls unless you pay an additional fee The bottled waters in your room will cost you $5 per bottle Breakfast is cheaper at any of the restaurants within walking distance

Ally Collyer

Beautiful rooms and grounds Got to my hotel room late at night to pull sheets down and see ants everywhere (and a cockroach) Front desk was very fast and helpful in moving me to the Grand suite in the Hoyt house since it was the only room left

Then, I woke up to a spider hanging from the ceiling right over my bed Good customer service but will not return unless bug issue fixed

First, this review is a little overdue Approximately 1 month ago a fairly large party was in Athens for a family wedding and elected to stay at the Indigo From check-in, a great experience began due to the amazing staff at the hotel

Having travelled a fair amount, I can honestly say never have we been subject to such outstanding service and hospitality From the front desk staff, bar staff, restaurant staff, service staff and management team, the experience was second to none It is clear that the on site management team inspires the employees to do their very best each and every day and with every customer encounter It is also abundantly clear that the entire staff enjoys what they do, enjoys working with one another and feels appreciated and respected in their role If you are thinking about a stay in or near Athens and appreciate exceptional service, Hotel Indigo should be your choice Well done staffA+++

Sheron Downie

My daughter wanted to have her wedding at Hotel Indigo and I was hoping for a little more traditional setting I simply could not imagine a wedding at a hotel Boy, was I wrong! This place was nothing short of fabulous

The convenience goes without saying but the atmosphere is what made this place work Leigh is incredible to work with The ceremony was perfect, the accommodations were excellent and the reception was unbelievable It was so easy to arrange everything and even with 100+ crowd we experienced a very memorable evening Caterers and florist were professional and worked well with Leigh at Hotel Indigo Every detail was addressed They have a small bistro area and Valencia is probably one of the most pleasant servers I have ever dealt with It is convenient to everything downtown This was such a unique venue and truly a must tour if you are planning a wedding in Athens!

Katie Anderson

This review is for the hotel restaurant- all 5 stars because of the most amazing server, Valencia We had beautiful weather during our stay and the courtyard was a lovely setting for our breakfasts The food was very good( especially the grits)

Valencia was so welcoming, thoughtful, kind and sweet to our children( expedited the children’s meals without us asking, etc) Remembering the kids names and pancake orders during our stay and being so genuinely kind and helpful We also had a large group( 3 toddlers and 6 adults) and she was seamless with our service She really went above and beyond and we noticed We hope Hotel Indigo also notices what a absolute gem they have in Valencia!

The staff and service are the standouts at this hotel At breakfast, the general manager went around to every table to say hi and thank them for staying with them The front desk staff, at both check in and check out, were very friendly and helpful

The housekeeping staff always had a smile and were quick to respond to requestsThe free breakfast buffet was great Omelets, biscuits and gravy, bacon and Turkey sausage, cereals, fruit, juices, coffee…everything was great And the lobby dining area was very cleanThe location isn’t the best in town compared to other similarly-priced hotels, but it’s still only two short blocks (uphill) to the center of downtown Parking was not a problem There were plenty of luggage carts provided at both entrances, which was niceThe noise in the room was an issue The walls are thin, so you can hear a lot of outside and inside noise (traffic, doors slamming, etc)Overall it’s a great option, and had the lowest price of any in the area

Excellent stay! We were only there for one night but honestly I could probably live there and be happy The room (214) was clean and just spacious enough The bed was comfortable, king size pillows, sheets felt soft too

The shower was so good I didn’t want to get out, great water pressure! I like the full size shampoo, conditioner, body wash they have in the shower tooCheck in was quick and the gentleman was pleasant We met Leigh and Joy when checking out and they were so friendlyHonestly I wouldn’t consider staying anywhere else next time I’m in Athens I was relectant to stay at Holiday Inn Express because of a less than good experience in another city but this location is excellent! 👌

I loved this hotel! This was my first stay at this location and I will definitely return Joy made the check in process painless and was so gracious and kind when I asked for a specific room location She took my request in stride and did her best to meet my needs

Maxwell was the manager on duty in the morning and greeted the guests as we ate breakfast The breakfast was hot and fresh each day I was impressed at how the breakfast staff kept up with hot items even while a high school team staying at the hotel ravaged the buffet I was worried there would not be enough for the other guests but she took it in stride and kept the food coming out all while maintaining a positive attitudeThe rooms and lobby were well maintained and clean This hotel feels like it has been recently remodeled as it is very up to date and fresh feeling They have a wonderful lounge area where you can sit and relax or spend time with companions without being in your personal roomThe 2nd-3rd floor lobby access is a little awkward and confusing but if you read the signs you can figure it out pretty quicklyI would highly recommend this hotel if you enjoy a clean hotel with kind and courteous staff It is right downtown so you have access to all the sights and experiences of Athens within walking distance

Couldn’t even book a room front desk told me they had something available then said they would put me on hold which I then waited for 10 minutes just to be hung up on called back 5 times they don’t pick up Don’t stay there if they have people like that working for them it’s not somewhere you want to stay! It’s obvious they don’t care about people! Find better!

This is probably my sixth or seventh stay at Georgia Game Day Center Five years ago, we stayed there for my daughter‘s wedding along with the entire wedding party Although it had shown some wear, it was always clean

I have to say, that I was very disappointed in my stay this time I stayed in room 509 When I pulled back the covers for my bed I found a toenail and lots of hair It was obvious that the bedding had never been changed Additionally, counters in the kitchen were sticky and unclean The staff downstairs was extremely courteous and helped me obtain replacement bedding It makes me sad to write this because this has been a favorite of my family for years Unfortunately, I won’t be back

Upon check-in, I was handed a key with a unit number different than the one I reserved on AirBnB No communication was given from the host prior to arrival or the receptionist at check-in about the switch When I inquired, I was told by the receptionist “Oh, the owner is here and when that happens, we move you to another unit

” I told her I would look at the other unit and decide That decision took about 30 seconds – no comparison to the photos Rather than stainless appliances and tile showers and shiny red stainless barstools,  I was given old white appliances, fiberglass tub units, and grandma’s old wooden barstools The receptionist then gave me two more units to try, as if I had all day to tour their building I then contacted AirBnB customer support, and they were amazing throughout this nightmare experience The staff of GameDay, on the other hand, were horrendous AirBnB negotiated a reduced rate for one of the units, which was no where close to the photos of what we reserved, while we wentlateto our dinner plans to meet family Upon our return, we unloaded our vehicle and began to settle in and then began to notice the unit was not clean There was hair in the shower, a large wad of hair in the kitchen floor, trash in the trash can, dirty baseboards and corners, and mess all over the carpet I sent photos to AirBnB I showed the photos to the receptionist whose only suggestion was for me to send them to the front desk email account “for management,” who was blatantly absent, and to wait for the cleaning lady the next day AirBnB provided a refund to cover the cleaning fee but was unable to reach management again Our reservation was for five people We had four towels I called the front desk and the (next shift) receptionist told me he would “try to locate one” He brought be a nicely folded towel, which I discovered, while dripping wet, was actually a hotel floor mat The next morning, I checked with the (next shift) receptionist, whom we shall call Unconcerned Chris He never looked up from his screen as he assured me, “You’re on the list” for the unit to be cleaned Five hours later, upon our return, the room was not clean I again spoke to Unconcerned Chris, who again, never looked up from his screen, as he told me with much annoyance, “I told you that you’re on the list” I asked for a specific time He endured physical distress as he made the huge effort to call the cleaning person and ask if she received his message on the app He then gave her instructions to clean our unit We left so that she could  Two hours later, she had not come Unconcerned Chris then gave me the manager Tiffany’s email, which of course,  went unanswered throughout our stay Other than these hughly unprofessional incidents, the stay was mediocre at best The unit doors slam loudly, so if you are sleeping in the front bedroom,  you will need earplugs There is also the expected street and partying noise of a college town building I would NEVER stay here again And I am mortified at the disrespect this place gives to the sacred Bulldog name

I’m not a fan of writing bad reviews, however this hotel is the worst! Avoid this place at all cost Stains all over the sheets, unclean towels, grimy surfaces on the lamps, and just an over all bad quality setup Can believe my job booked this hotel for travel

Horrible judgment on their part Again stay away from this place Honorable mention the staff was nice and brought new sheets up the outside stairs Really appreciate that

I don’t like writing negative reviews but I really felt I needed to The front desk receptionist has a unnecessary, very unwelcoming attitude My two interactions with her left me feeling uncomfortable and on the day of check out we get a call in the morning from her saying check out is at 11 when our booking app shows 12

She doesn’t even say good morning just a nasty “ you should have checked out 40 min ago” When I went to check out she again said no welcome greeting, she was just on her phone with a unpleasant “how can I help you” When I showed her the app shows that check out is at 12 she looked at me in a very uncomfortable rude way A “receptionist” should be pleasant and welcoming that their job! not what I experienced Won’t be staying here again
