Exactly what you’d expect from a chain hotelFriendly staff and pretty tidyRooms are a bit dingy and ours felt damp all the time

Fine for one night but wouldn’t want to stay any longer A bit pricey at over $200/night for what they are, but that’s LA for youComplimentary continental breakfast is served in the lobby area and we thought it was a big plus Highly recommend getting in early to get fresh scrambled eggs

Melynda Westfall

I would give the hotel itself 3 stars It’s just an average room I liked that it had a suite area and a balcony! The bathroom was insanely tiny

The pool was OK The spa was broken The breakfast was good It’s getting 4 stars from me because ALL of the staff we interacted was very friendly and accommodating I would stay here again

We stayed in a downtown-facing suite which was absolutely gorgeous The view was incredible, and the amenities were above and beyond average The bathroom had several complimentary kits, a robe, slippers, and soft towels

The couch in the living room was very comfortable, the TV was nice, and they also had a Keurig and K-cups in the room (which were not a part of the mini-bar, totally included) The rooms were clean and the shower was even nicer than mine at home We loved InterContinental

Feedback From Real Customers

Orlanzo Ross

The front desk personnel were pleasant and the hotel overall was tidy It could stand for a better refresh It seemed to be a converted apartment building

The corridors and lighting could benefit from a refresh The room could stand a better renovation as well The bathroom was far too small; although functional The room itself seemed dated Get rid of the textured surfaces and provide a more neutral color and decor The bed was comfortable, but lacked center support It felt as though we were sinking in the middle It could benefit from additional plugs or USB charging stations on the side table The property is in a decent location with the exception of the restaurant/bar across the street which played music into the very early morning An interior room may have been better The biggest issue for us was the bathroom area Far too cramped for two people, but the place needs a good refresh

Richard Troels Munk

The hotel is located near the beach which is the only good thingThe hotel has some insane prices when it is literally just two beds and a bathroom We did not get our room cleaned at all and the smell of the hotel was uncomfortable, isolation is bad you easily hear everything outside, music to people laughing to cars speeding

And we could not find the breakfast if there even is one, also the floor is thin so your room shakes and it is sleep canceling when someone walks on the upper floors AC is loud and there is loud random ventilation sound coming from the walls which wakes you up from your sleepYou can find better hotels for the same or better price located near the beachThis is definitely not recommended

Mikael Eckstein

Nice hotel with perfect locationVery helpfull and friendly staff The helped me with a lot of packages that was sent to the hotel

Shared a loft room with a friend and I slept in the sofa bed which actually was really comfortableThe hotel was quiet, clean, everything worked, good water pressure and warmth in the shower

It’s quaint & clean, and a bit dated compared to a name brand hotel, but the location on the marina beach is amazing, especially for the price compared to the surrounding hotels We stayed on the 2nd floor with patio overlook of beach 1st floor has a larger patio with a picture window view of beach

Beds are comfortable Mini fridge & microwave are very useful Wall A/C worked great Easy walk to shops, restaurants & ocean, and also a quick drive to ocean beach parking We would definitely stay here again!

Fraser Kerr

Was upgraded free of charge (and without asking) Rooms were large, quiet and clean, with an amazing view of the beach and marina Couldnt have been closer to the beach without actually being on the sand The staff were extremely helpful and friendly

It was close to some great dining and drinking options A mere 10 minute walk to Venice Beach and all it has to offer 10/10 will stay again

Jeremiah Ravenmoor

Price was a little expensive but the scene is worth it It’s very quiet in the morning which I love and any help I needed it Andre was there to help, the other staff while I stayed here seemed to enjoy there job and continued to work Will be definitely stay here again when I return to California

It’s nothing Extravagant but it makes up for Location, hospitality and costumer service

I stayed at this hotel coming from Boston and I told them about my recent engagement and they definitely rolled the red carpet for us This was the best experience we’ve had staying at a hotel Best staff ever

From the nice lady checking us in to our amazing housekeeping staff Thank you for making our first time in LA memorable! Please continue to be awesome You will definitely see us again!

Juel McGhee

Location was perfect Minutes from Venice Beach and Santa Monica Pier

You could bike over or even walk We Brought our 7 yr old daughter and she was happy about the water taxi for $1 that you could catch right next to the hotel The hotel itselfI would have a higher review if I did not pay 600 a night Definitely NOT worth that! Hotel is old, boring, beds were comfortable but definitely not queens for the double room Seemed more like full size Not a Ritz Carlton feel at all in hotel Valet was quick with the cars The drains run slow and the refrigerator stunk so bad we could not use it This Ritz is a bare minimum Ritz The staff was nice and courteous We went back and forth with staying at the Marriott across the street for 1/2 the price

Emily Plata

This hotel does not live up to the standards of the Ritz-Carlton name For the price, the stay was not worth it The hotel needs major renovations

Bathroom with a poor quality curtain, only one thin bathrobe Outdated room furniture The balcony to our room had large cement stains and was furnished with cheap decor It was unsettling Please do not stay at this hotel just for the name You are better off staying at a different hotel This felt more like a 3-star hotel I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but I want to caution others to save their money and go elsewhereThe only positive aspect about this hotel was housekeeping and the staff that bring up your room service Nice and attentive hard-working people

Newly renovated hotel in the heart of Marina Del Rey I booked this beautiful hotel last min for business and it was the best decision ever I met with my clients at the restaurant that overlooks the marina

Great food and drinks AMAZING atmosphere I had the short rib tacos, calamari, Moscow mules & spicy margaritas are to die One of the best residence inns I have been to Short walk to Mother’s beach Great hotel staff Will definitely be back with my family

Stephanie Coleman-Smith

Checked in at roughly 4:45pm, for what was supposed to have been a relaxing overnight stay, after a very stressful day It was anything but

First room, after turning down the bed, I found a nasty looking long thick hair on the sheet Called room service and ask if housekeeping could come up and change the sheets on the bed, while I went down to the restaurant Returned to the room around 8:00pm, exhausted and ready to sleep Unfortunately, housekeeping left the sheets on the kitchenette counter waiting for me, as if expected to change the bed myself Wow…I called down to the front desk to question and complain, as I did not reserve a room and pay room charges as such to have to arrive at the hotel and change what I perceived to be a less than inviting bed The young man at the desk proceeded to explain that it was not out of the ordinary for quest to request new sheets and change the bed themselves, justifying why the sheets were left on the counter An Unacceptable and frankly rude and inconsiderate explanation I tried to explain I wasn’t one of those guest, and that his attention should be directed towards my individual complaint I informed him when booking a room at a hotel, I was looking for, at best, cleanliness, comfort and convenience; otherwise, I would have stayed home He seemed indifferent, and repeated himself Whatever happened to quality customer service in a hospitality environment??? Moreover, at the rate the hotel charges, one would expect no less Well, he put me in another room An old corner room; bad to worst The lights in the bedroom did not work The engineer had to come up and flip the circuit breaker and the blinds on the automatic closure mechanism were inoperable Small TV in the bedroom, where in the first room, it was at least a large 65” inch flat screen, mounted on the wall above The small tv required me to have to prop myself up to see it, as it sat on a low table It should have been mounted on the wall above the table for a comfortable ergonomic view while relaxing in bed It’s unfortunate that under the circumstances, I wasn’t afforded an room upgrade to compensate for the inconvenience and the lack of hospitality This was my second stay, as the first was a month ago and it was exceptional As for the young man at the desk, I suggest more training It’s called hospitality, and a guest should not have to debate an issue of cleanliness and convenience, when the accommodations fail to meet expectations He did comp my parking, which I appreciated, but that did not sway my opinion of the entire experience Needless to say, I will not revisit this hotel again Very disappointed!!!!

Brad Beggs

Beautiful relatively new hotel with large rooms overlooking the marina or city and oceanParking is pricey, but the city of Marina del Ray has several nearby surface lots that charge $6 to $10 for 24 hours, and you can come and go without having to pay again The closest is about a quarter mile north, just south of Mothers Beach, and you can walk along the marina to get to the hotel

There are nice kitchen facilities in your room, and several grocery stores nearby including Trader Joe’s Breakfast is included and is pretty good

I really enjoyed my stay here! The location was perfect (a major mall is right across the street) and it was easy to get everywhere I wanted The staff were pleasant and eager to help out The breakfast was just alright nothing extraordinary but good enough to get you out of the door

The waiters seemed partial but I guess it must be nice to relate with someone who speaks your language The only con is that they had agreed to a late check out but called to get me out of my room before the agreed time I wasn’t comfortable with this but overall it was a nice place The gym is also well equipped so pack some workout gear if you can!

Cc Cort

Let’s start by saying not all front desk people had great customer service I only encountered two women that actually gave excellent customer service on Saturday afternoon, and I was able to chat with themUpon arrival when I was checking in the guy from front desk was telling us about the parking, happy hours and complimentary breakfast

So the next morning on Saturday I went down for breakfast little did I know it wasn’t complimentary I had already served myself so it was too late to not pay for it It was $1758, I asked the girl at the front desk about the breakfast and she was very rude ( well I don’t know why he would tell you that) I honestly didn’t find this worth the money The food was not good at all I wasn’t hungry for a (buffet) so it was a waste of moneyThe pool was ok nothing fancy The room is pretty small and getting in and out was hard there’s not much space The beds are super noisy … you do pay for parking daily which I wouldn’t mind paying when the hotel is amazing which it wasn’t…Our keys stop working the next day and they kept doing that the day after, so that was a bummer We had to keep going down to get that fixedThere’s nothing soundproof about this room I could hear everything outside and the top people were super loud around 3 am all the way through the day That was super annoyingOverall, I think the only good experience I had was the two front desk ladies that I was speaking to

T. Dinh

First time staying here and will definitely go back I felt very welcomed when I checked in and the front desk staff were so polite and friendly It wasn’t that forced kind of friendly either

The room was very cute and clean I was very happy to see they served real breakfast and not one of those grab and go bags It was a breakfast buffet with made to order omelets I had mine to go and there were no issues getting that boxed with a cup of OJ for the road I also felt appreciated as a Marriott member and already booked my next stay here for workIt is by the freeway so be sure to have earplugs (I always travel with some) so I did not have any problems with noise as some others have mentioned

What a great stay!! We spent a fantastic weekend here – it was so relaxing and fun! The room was perfect, with great amenities! (Seriously, those are the softest robes I’ve ever felt!)The lobby is airy and bright with a great bar The staff was so friendly and attentive And the location was perfect – we had fun exploring Culver City’s Art District, and then hopped in the car for a quick trip to Beverly Hills! It’s also very dog friendly – our pup was able to come to all our meals with us, and the staff are all dog lovers too!And speaking of meals, the food was awesome! We enjoyed an amazing dinner at Etta

They have a great, creative wine list with so many local wines The pastas were fantastic, and we’re still dreaming about the focaccia bread! Don’t miss the rooftop – the vibes are great, the drinks are top notch and the pancakes at breakfast stole the show!We will absolutely be back soon – what a perfect getaway!

Freshly renovated The room was really nice Probably my best hotel stay so far in California

I like it better than the courtyard marina del ReyThe room was very quiet and I couldn’t hear loud footsteps above me or people in the room next to meThe service was good and the breakfast at the restaurant was great It is valet only for parking so plan accordingly if that is an issueThe surprise on top was the spray they provide in the rooms to help aid in falling asleep I was skeptical but it worked And have used it at home Great job Marriott

C. Paulsen

The rooms have a nice, roomy, modern design, but like most Marriott hotels, there are some minor cosmetic maintenance issues (baseboard in hallway needing repairs, wallpaper in bathroom peeling on edges) The pool was lovely and well cleaned The restaurant for breakfast was delicious and wait staff super friendly

Most of the staff was great, but there was a problem with my reservation (put me for 1 night instead of the 2 I had reserved) and when I went to fix it, the staff at first didn’t seem to want to help at all – like I was causing problems That was a minor blip to otherwise good experience

TIFFANY GUO

Incredible stay! Service was excellent, rooms were clean, spacious, modern, and it’s quiet in the rooms for a good night’s sleep (I’ve been at one too many hotels where you can hear guests next door entering / exiting their rooms) The only thing that was lacking was the water pressure – showering was not super satisfying with the weak water pressure Despite that, would definitely book here again!

This place is great if you just need a place to lay your head and move on The rooms were clean and the staff was super nice and accommodating, but if you are staying here to attend an event or have any reason to get ready or put on makeup ( ladies) it’s almost impossible The lighting in the rooms is terrible! I really struggled trying to get myself put together for a wedding I was in and it made my entire experience very stressful

The layout of the rooms was odd too with the bathroom being segmented into 2 rooms

The front desk is very insensitive and rudeI will not recommend this place at allI stayed for 2days in super 8 wid my husband and a toddler

The day of checkout my toddler was not keeping well and I called in for and extended checkout and was ready for the fee as well the front desk guy was very rude and said we cudnt stay even 5mins longer In the room, even a 5star hotel gives a extended check-out on request I dont know why did he refused inspite of telling him about my toddlers health RUBBISH attitude of the front desk guy with the long hair who was busy knitting, and didn’t care about our concern

A “wedged” shape old building Elegant is a good word for it Inside 1st floor is a bar w various seating, up-scale ambiance; often with a piano player, windows all around

Also small dinning room Staircase up, you’ll find more bar area, more private lounging Next floor or 2 up are offices, and a vault behind cracked open concrete for viewing Then the rooms for the rest Best thing about the hotel is it’s location; nearly dead center downtown Culver City Behind the hotel is a main tentrance to Sony Theatres Hotel has a history of course, beginning with silent films to present Main reason hotel was built was to provide office space and lodging to attract famous people If you want to be “in the center” of nice restaurants n cars n Sony StudiosIt’s the go to Hotel

The room was pretty nice, having modern touches in an old structure Everything worked and the bed was comfortable I took a point off because of the horrible paint work within our room

For a building that is on the registry of historic places you would think they would hire someone that knows how to actually paint Another small detail is the fact that they didn’t have the check out time posted in the room, which I’m pretty sure it’s law

The hotel and rooms are lovely with a few exceptions The old fireplaces in the rooms have been plastered over but, for some insane reason, they left logs sticking straight out of the plasterSecond, the mattresses are super uncomfortable

It feels like you’re lying down in a pile of marshmallows Which sounds comfortable until you get anyone over 40 staying there and I guarantee 90% of those guests have back problems (🙋🏼‍♀️)

Great place to stay Friendly staff Very clean rooms, comfortable beds

No need for A/C which is perfect, got to enjoy the breezeOnly thing that disappoints is the complimentary breakfast For $290 a day you only get a bag with a banana, a yogurt, granola bar and a small muffin, choice of tea or coffee And although there’s Socalo restaurant next door it is very expensiveOther than that everything else was perfect Close to the beach etc

This hotel is located on Santa Monica Boulevard but is 20 blocks (a 30 minutes walk) from the Pier The walk isn’t attractive either, as it’s dominated by car sales roomsBreakfast is a sugar-packed ‘grab bag’, due to the hotel’s interpretation of COVID-19 restrictions (which are the most draconian of all the Californian hotels visited)

The room was quiet, large, and well-appointed The Receptionist was really friendly and helpful The underground car park ($15 per night) was well worth it but the overall cost of the room was highEnjoyed the restaurant and service next door (thanks, Rodrigo) Overall I’d rate it as 3-star ‘average’

Stayed at the Gateway Hotel Santa Monica the third week of November for a business trip Overall, not a bad hotel if staying for a short period of time and for the convenience of being in the centre of Santa Monica The front desk was great and carried all sorts of toiletries (forgot some of ours!)They also offered a free grab and go breakfast before 9:30 am, but we didn’t get a chance to try

Hotel room was quite clean and bathroom seemed newly updatedHowever, there were some downsides to staying at this hotel The room perhaps was overly clean, as the sheets and room overall had a very strong chlorine/cleaning product scentThe walls are incredibly thin so I was woken up quite a few times by either outside noise, or noise from nearby rooms being cleaned, or construction noises There seemed to be some construction noises during our stay, as we heard loud banging noises from upstairs throughout the day Could have also sounded like scrubbing of a bathtub, but overall woke me up quite a few times There is also a restaurant right under the hotel, which also adds to the noisiness in the areaStill rate this hotel a 3/5 since it is in a very convenient location for a short stay, was clean, and had all the basic necessities

My wife and I booked at the last minute after a change in plans Glad we chose this location based on previous reviews Got upgraded without asking to a marina view on the top (third) floor

The room was nicely appointed with a nice balcony just to the left of the restaurant, not loud at all The heated pool and hot tub were great and used daily (stayed 6 nights) There’s a ton within walking distance (groceries, restaurants, city park, walking and biking paths It was a great choice

Please work on hospitality especially if a mistake is made on your endYou should try your best to go above and beyond for a customer especially if a mistake is made, I didn’t feel that this occurred during my stayFirst they charged my personal card full price for a room that was paid for by my company with contest from me instead of just doing the usual incident fee

Which was a major inconvenienceThen when talking to a concierge or manager about the incident they were very stubborn on doing anything to rectify the situation, but eventually they released the charge, but didn’t offer anything to rectify the inconvenienceThen there was the late fee, even though my stuff was packed and my room was cleaned, because I didn’t know what time checkout was and because I didn’t know that the hotel offered a luggage holding serviceTalking to a customer and trying your best to understand and help the customer would have been better than just seeming money hungryEven though they reduced the charge by 50 dollars which I appreciate, they weren’t very much hospitable or understanding La traffic is a monster in it’s own right and they gave me an ultimatum to come back before the hour even though they knew I was coming back or they would charge me for a full nightI was excited to come to this hotel, because i am a new traveler and this was my first time traveling alone, but the experience that I faced with the manager and concierge I dealt with cheapened and made this experience irritatingHaving a hotel manager insinuate that you don’t have enough money because of a mistake they shouldn’t have made was very annoying and unprofessional as wellThe facility was nice though

The room itself was nice, the location is convenient, and the hotel is beautiful, if I were just rating that I would give it four stars But everything else was a bit of a mess To start, the halls and rooms smelled of sewage for three of our four days, no hotel staff explained this nor offered us any recompense for this massive discomfort

I came for a wedding and my brother reserved a block of rooms in advance Several weeks before arrival I called to put my card on my room so that he wouldn’t be charged for it Now both myself and my sister were staying in the room, and she arrived about an hour before I did Apparently they have a policy (I’ve never experienced this anywhere else) where they have to swipe a card prior to check-in, so my sister had to swipe hers and assume the responsibility of paying for our entire stay before we’d actually done so Now I called here on the morning of our last day to ensure that the card that would actually bear the responsibility would be my own, but they’d deleted my card from their system when my sister swiped on checkin Just outright deleted it And now it will take up to a week for the money to be returned to my sister’s account even though this was their absolute boneheaded mistake NOT TO MENTION THEY JUST ASSUMED WE HAD A CAR AND CHARGED US AN EXTRA $100 FOR PARKING None of this was communicated and had to be resolved on-site Absolutely ridiculously piss poor customer service, they’re lazy and apathetic LA residents

Very clean rooms Check in tho me and my family had to wait for nearly 4 hours before getting into our rooms Made reservations 3 weeks before and we were not the only ones who waited as well

To make it a bit more awful they put us in a room next to the exit door and spent our days hearing slamming of doors from other guest leaving and coming in Shook the walls and so loud Woke me up a few times in the night But room were comfortable Great food also Beautiful location and view

This was an incredible stay all the way around and we will be back! We simply wanted a place to stay for the night after my wife’s surgery at a nearby hospital so we didn’t have to drive the 2 hours home We got that plus a little getaway at an amazing hotel! We were welcomed from the minute we drove up by the valet and bell staff The front desk staff was also very welcoming and explained the features of the property, including the restaurant

Our room (119) was on the first floor facing the marina It had a large patio/balcony area with a beautiful view of the beach, water, boats and hotel grounds The patio furniture was even clean, which isn’t always the case at hotels When we return, I hope we can get the same room as the view seemed perfectThe room itself was very clean and everything was in working order There were plenty of outlets, a Keurig coffee maker, refrigerator, large TV, good sized desk, comfortable chair, and plenty of lights The bed was very comfortable Yes, it has a wall air conditioner But we actually appreciated the white noise effect from setting the fan to run all nightThe restaurant was outstanding! They don’t have room service at this time, but they gladly took our order my phone and called us back in about 20 minutes when it was ready to pick up The butternut squash ravioli was delicious and the macadamia nut chocolate chip cookies are our new favorite (Sorry, DoubleTree) Breakfast on the outdoor patio right on the beach was also wonderful A creative menu perfectly executedWe’re completed baffled by all the negative reviews Don’t hesitate to stay here Just make sure you get a room with a marina view Or at least leave your room and go hang out in the chairs on the lawn on the marina side We will be back!

Being a Marriott member I was looking for a place in LA for a few nights and came across Beverly Hills Marriott Reviews were good, place looked nice so I booked my stay The second I arrived the valet helped me out of my car and into the lobby

The front desk was quick and efficient and got me my room key quickly Went up to a very nice and modern room and everything was cleanI loved my stay here but there was just 1 thing holding me back from giving it 5 starsThe bedExtremely uncomfortable as I prefer firmer mattresses and my back was sore after both nights Also didn’t sleep well because of it too Not sure if they were older mattresses but I was not a fan Loved everything else about this place though and the staff was top notch

In general, room, hotel services, location are pretty goodThe hotel itself is old and I can see some cracks here and there in toilet, but still functional By the way, I think they should renovate their elevator! They provide complementary morning coffee in the lobby (Starbucks) which is nice

However, for a hotel with nearly 300 USD per night, I expected more

Cindy Hynes

Kai and Charlie in Valet were amazing, we stayed the night with a 10-foot trailer in tow along with our pickup truck They were amazingly helpful in getting the car and trailer situated even in a city like Beverly Hills which as you may or may not know is impossible to park a trailer The staff was great, we travel for business often and I would stay there again and again

The rooms were small but clean, staff was friendlyThe only downside they charged my card twice on accident and I am working to get that situated 😉
