This was our first time staying at Montague Laguna Beach and will definitely not be our last We had an amazing experience The staff goes above and beyond with absolutely everything from valet, to the restaurant, front desk, the spa, pool attendants, and room attendants

Everyone here makes it their mission to provide a wonderful customer experience We ended up extending a day because we didn’t want to leave The grounds are well kept and you can see they take pride in all areas of the property Their private beach is stunning and just a short walk from the rooms I’m already looking forward to our next trip here

Where do I start? First and foremost, this is the best customer service experience I’ve had since moving to California 5 years ago No age or racial bias that my partner and I have experienced in the past at resorts, just kindness, patience, and attention to detail The view is breathtaking, peaceful, and colorful

The beaches are clean and not overpopulated The rooms are clean and meticulously designed, and the tech & COVID friendly way they have their menus the remote set up is pretty innovative The concierge knows what they’re doing and will make whatever accommodations happen In love with this place; will be absolutely returning

We spent 4 nights at the Montage The place was wonderful, clean and relaxing pace It was a perfect quiet vacation that we wanted

The room was clean and it smelled good We appreciated the little things They had a lady that came out with different animals at the pool The day we found out about her, she had a hawk that scared away some birds They also had live music on the pool and it was really nice The beach was almost empty and the place feels really high end The food was also great The staff was kind and nice and the valet would get our cars out very fast We never had to wait long on anything Had a great time and will come back soon

Great new hotel Well worth the price Clean, spacious rooms with kitchen area

Lobby area served a good free breakfast While we didn’t take advantage of it, there is a very good bar with a very friendly hostess, that was very lively when I looked at 10:00pm and don’t know when it closed There were also two beer taps with good beer for free!

Brad Pesnell

I stayed here for a meeting in the Laguna Room but enjoyed it so much I decided to stay another night on my own! You can’t beat the location — I believe every room has a coastal view and it’s steps from the beach and downtown Laguna The only thing I’d caution is that some rooms and the pool are very close to the public walking trail on the cliff, so you will hear and see the foot traffic, but I enjoyed the people-watching Service was helpful and unobtrusive, and the decor is neutral and understated (doesn’t scream “hotel!” which I appreciate)

Since they don’t have a big lobby or restaurant, it’s a pretty quiet place other than the complementary rooftop happy hour The catering provided for our meeting was simple but nice I liked the sustainable touches such as cloth towels instead of paper, and a reef-safe sunscreen dispenser at the pool Really felt like a getaway, definitely would visit again!

Patrick Minns

Beautiful hotel, absolutely stunning beach view from our beach facing room The bad was among the most comfortable we have ever slept Staff was extremely friendly, and the rooms are modern and cozy

Many choices for eating are within walking distance as are art galleries and shopping choices The beach is unique, there is traditional sand, but also tide pools which are sadly devoid of the sea life that one would expect We had a wonderful dinner at Nicks Laguna Beach and a memorable anniversary celebration This is now an anniversary destination for years to come

John Moore

Every summer for the past five years my mother has stayed at the inn to attend the Laguna pageant It has a wonderful location with views of the ocean, beach and park and is just minutes to walk from to restaurants and shopping As an older property it has had some renovations done

The common areas are very nice, the rooms are clean and the beds comfortable Occasionally there is a bathroom door that doesn’t close properly or a slight odor but overall this is a nice place I do find it a bit pricey but after all it is Laguna Beach

We stayed 2 nights in room 114 and it was so fun The front desk staff ladies and gentlemen were absolutely great We were treated like family

There is wine at 5pm and cookies at 6pm What a great time We had to leave in a hurry for San Diego and could not thank the team properly Thank you so much to the team! This is highly recommended for all to stayThanks

Jessie Clewell

Out of all the places we stayed on our trip to California this was bay far the best Nice smelling lobby with a chess board and free wine from 5-6pm The rooms were clean and bright and ours had a private patio area

The cozy pool hot tub and fire pit was a great spot to relax Just a quick walk to the beach and another short walk to lots of restaurants shopping and other beaches and museums Will be back again with our kids next time

David Lyman

I’d give it more stars if I could First the great:-The most comfortable beds in a hotel EVER You just sink in and crash

-They offer free wine at 5pm and hot and fresh cookies at 6pm-Free covered parking-The attention to detail in everything they do is so refreshing-Hot tub and pool are great-Balcony off of room is cozy and inviting to listen to the waves crash-The morning coffee and teas are great to take down to the waters edge in the mornings-The staff was so kindThe only things that could have been better is:-The doors and windows don’t block sound that great so if there’s someone walking in the courtyard and they’re talking you’ll hear it inside-The big beach is actually down the road to the south Down the Jill from the beach house is waterfront but it’s rocky So swimming there could be dangerous But it is beautiful and they sounds of the waves crashing onto the rocks are amazingBoth of those are so minor that I wasn’t even sure I should mention them We loved our stay here We only booked for two nights and then headed to Vegas for two nights We wish we would have just stayed here for all four nights We loved it here

Honestly, I would like to give this hotel a higher rating But the room was old, not well cleaned and the mattresses were uncomfortable, the springs around the perimeter of the mattresses were nearly at the surface and hurt our legs when sitting on the side of the bed or getting on or off the bedThe filters in the air conditioner had not been cleaned in months and were caked with yuck 🤮

The carpets left our socks dirty The 1980s jacuzzi had been poorly re-coated and was super slippery and the jacuzzi jets were dirtyThe breakfast was pretty good, but it was a free for all down there in the morning Over crowded, not enough seating, people coming right up to us and reaching across our bodies, unmasked A covid nightmareThe staff, however, were super nice and so helpful I actually became ill while on the trip, having to cut my stay short by a day ( I informed them over 48 hours in advance of the cancelled day), they made the adjustment for meLocation, though on the Pacific Coast Highway, does not have an ocean view from the room The balconies are off limits and a fine is issued if one were to go out on itThe high points are the town around it has tons of fun Good restaurants, several antique, thrift and consignment stores A quaint and historic old town area, and just a few minutes drive to the beach

Made a reservation for mid April Haven’t stayed here yet, but in dealing with the staff by phone, I am very impressed Very nice and helpful staff

My granddaughter’s school is holding their senior prom in Dana Point and 6 of my granddaughter’s friends/classmates are staying at this hotel I have had to change my reservation twice, due to other students needing accommodations, and, as old as I am, I had trouble navigating the website, so I have had to call the hotel Your staff is so helpful and patient with me! If you’ve ever had to deal with rude hotel staff, you know what I’m talking about This place is awesome! I look forward to staying here with a bunch of crazy teenagers!!!

Jeanna Smith

Great hotel near Dana Point Harbor Loved the large suite with a balcony, you could see the ocean, which was nice Breakfast was great and hot with a good selection

Great location, within walking distance to everything you need The building is in need of some updating, but the staff is phenomenal Christine at the front desk was the most helpful and friendly person we’ve ever met! Knowledgeable of the area and willing to do whatever she could to make our stay great! Even lent my friend her hairspray while we were getting ready for a wedding

Wendy was also great and gave us good good food recommendations Will definitely be back Thanks for a great stay

Older place Still coolGreat clean pool and jacuzzi

Decent free breakfast in morningStaff is polite and helpfulLower cost place, as many of the surrounding places to stay are extremely expensiveClose to things to do and there is a cool trolley that’s freeit will take you up and down the coastWould definitely stay here again

Sabrina Fryer

I loved this place! They were super helpful and accommodating We had booked a room nearby at the Beachfront Inn two months in advance who decided they could get more money by giving our room to someone else since the mask mandate had been lifted and things got busy We were 800 miles from home and left with nowhere to go and one day notice to find something else

I’m so glad we found the Dana Point Marina Inn because they saved us They were the friendliest staff and gave us a ton of information on food, activities and shopping in the area They kept our luggage for us so we could get lunch while we waited for our room to be cleaned They also let us in to hang out at the pool while we waited The rooms were clean and it was nice to have a balcony to sit on and take in the fresh ocean air

We were in a room with two double beds right by the pool The room had a fridge, and a keurig set up Room was very small – the door couldn’t open all the way without hitting the second bed

The bathroom and tap have very strong “beach water” smells, so I really recommend bringing your own drinking water Luckily, Ralph’s is just across the streetBed was okay – firm, but not amazing Room was surprisingly quiet! The courtyard and pool seemed really nice and looked like a nice place to spend some timeBut the location is amazing! You’re so close to the beach

Scott McLewin

Spent most of a week in March The hotel is simple and was a good choice Easy walk to the main beach in Laguna

It is right by a trolley stop, and has parking (paid) for guests who brought a vehicle Overall nice architecture work, but some things look good but are poor design Take for example the glass shower door that blocks access to the tub/shower controls unless you get all the way in

Adam Armin

Booked late, but $500 for a Holiday Inn with a different name on the building is pretty outrageous Excellent location, and there was a pool, but there’s no hot tub as Google suggests Just not a good deal for the price

I read that the North building was updated and nice They should update the South building as well if they’re going to charge $500 a night Bed was also terribly uncomfortable

We loved staying here and had no issues! Room was clean and had plenty of space, beds were comfy, staff was helpful, and the breakfast was delicious As a traveler on a budget, I have stayed in a lot of Super 8s and Motel 6s, and this was a huge step up from that for a very good price The pool and jacuzzi were great, we had them to ourselves on a Sunday night and it was lovely

The breakfast was hot and delicious, and the staff stayed really on top of making sure all the breakfast items were refilled/stocked The couch in our room pulled out to be a bed, and it was not nearly as comfy as the beds, but worked great for our group of 3 adults who each wanted our own bed space Parking was easy We would definitely stay here again

Alex Hyer

I’d say everything here is pretty good There’s a pool and spa as well as a pretty good breakfast overall They deserve a solid 5 stars for service

One of our rooms had some condensation dripping from the A/C which is above the room They immediately checked on it and—when they determined they wouldn’t be able to fix it immediately—switched us to the closest room they could find without hesitation Great staff overall!

California Jones

It’s decent A bit stale smelling Breakfast was good

Won’t touch the pool or jacuzzi here but jacuzzi doesn’t look bad Room was clean Carpet was not the best; wore sandals because I didn’t trust it Shower was clean and room had a balcony Why can’t we smoke in hotels like this? It’s 2022 and they need to stop acting like the place already smells like roses(it doesn’t) Weight room open 24 hours which was Awesome and clean But the door doesn’t lock; I’d hate for my girl to go there alone… Out of the 3 25-3-star hotels in this area, this was the cheapest and feels like it

We found this little gem on our last trip to Laguna, CA It is a very cute older style hotel that has has recently had a makeover Our room looked fresh and had new paint, and cute decorations

We had a nice size room with a king bed, bathroom, outside sitting area and a small kitchen It is just steps from the beach and you can hear the ocean Just what we wanted The staff was friendly They offered breakfast We will be staying here again

Josie Ciaciuch

I really would’ve loved to give this place a 5 star but after my experience, I cannot My family and I stayed at this hotel the same time last year and we had a pleasant experience So, when we returned this year we were expecting the same thing

However, we were surprised by the lack of hospitality/service, cleanliness etc When we showed up the service was perfectly fine However, we got into our room and noticed that the floor was quite dirty to the point where we could tell it had no been swept or mopped since the last customer had used the room Along with that, when we went to use the shower there was no hot water We even left the shower running for a good amount of time, and it still was not working right We called the front desk and in the morning maintenance took care of it After this, we did not have any issues until the day we checked out of our room We were thankful that we got to leave our luggage at the front desk of the hotel however, when we came back to retrieve our luggage, my grandmother needed to use the restroom The lady at the front office refused to let her use the restroom and told us that we would need to find an alternative place across the street After not finding a public restroom nearby, we came back to ask again thinking that since we were PAYING customers at their hotel for MULTIPLE nights that they would have some resolution to help us The lady at the front desk was not kind and had no sense of hospitality and was the least bit helpful She claimed that she would get in trouble by her boss if anyone used the restroom in the office area and claimed that all of the rooms were being used or checked into early (it was 1pm at the time) After seeing that our room was just being cleaned (the door was open), we finally convinced her to let my grandmother use the restroom in the room we had just stayed the night in She left us with a snarky remark as our “goodbye” and refused to give her name when I asked to say thank youAll in all, with mine and my family’s experiences this time, I do not recommend the seaside inn any longer

Patrick Brown

We had an absolutely wonderful time here! I was sad it was for only 1 night The staff was so kind and thoughtful, and attentive to our every need, and excellent communication! We even came home from dinner to find a nice snack board and wine in our room, which was a very nice surprise! The room was a stunning 1br suite, just yards from the ocean with killer views! My wife and I will definitely be staying here again next time we’re in town!

Great location, great viewsI enjoyed this hotel I see some reviews of negative experiences with temperature in the room, hot water, etc

We did not have any of those issues We were able to set our room temperature, we had plenty of hot water, and if we asked the front desk for more water, they gave it to us We also got a massage at the spa and enjoyed their facilitiesWalking distance to the harbor, the beach, and many restaurant options Or you can get a beach bike from the hotel Several grassy park areas, nice clean beach I really enjoyed our stay

J. ERTAN

It is one of the rare hotels in Southern California where you can stay for a family vacation It is a beautiful hotel with its proximity to the family action, calmness and comfort inside It is a good alternative for guests coming from out of state, especially with its walking distance to the marina and 20-30 minutes close to many surf beaches spots

When you stay between the cities of San Diego and Los Angeles, it is nice that you can go to both cities at similar times My advice is to have breakfast by enjoying the beautiful weather in the green area in front of you in the morning, there is the legendary open buffet breakfast Especially the scrambled eggs and fresh coffee

JS

Overall, a great hotel in the Dana Point area Very easy to walk to everything you may need Our kids love the pool(s) and the amenities really cater to everyone

We ordered food and drinks by the pool a few days in a row and the prices were extremly reasonable for what you get and the servers were great Even though I have kids myself, I really appreciate that they enforce quiet hours before 9am at the pool because sometimes people are just not considerate for other guests who want to relax or sleep in and allow their kids to scream at the pool super earlyThe staff gives notification of any events/weddings that may be happening during your stay which is also a plusEverything is clean and well maintained The only complaint I could possibly come up with is the required valet kinda sucks We forgot something in the car and the hassle of going down and waiting in line (after paying $46 per day) just to get something out of car is super inconvenient You also feel super rushed when you are loading/unloading luggage when departing/arriving because valet wants to push you in and out

Wow I had SUCH a lovely stay here quite honestly my stay may be the best at any hotel It was so clean and comfortable I almost felt like I was staying at my own home I have to say what really did it for me was the front desk staff – holy cow they went to above and beyond helping me with all of my requests (even switching rooms a few times)

They were patient and kind beyond words The rooms were comfortable, there were so many great amenities that came with our stay like tickets to the mission and dining credits I will most certainly be back and I cannot say enough nice things about this beautiful hotel, it was a treat to stay here

Patrick Madden

A relatively new property in a cool and historic area The design of the property is excellent and fits in wonderfully with the surrounding area Staff throughout the property were top-notch, especially the valet staff and bartenders in the restaurant

It’s a great place for a short weekend retreat to unwind and relax That said, I found the room to be quite small and I didn’t feel inclined to spend an extended period of time relaxing in the room beyond sleeping at night Fortunately, the property is walking distance to some great restaurants, a historic museum, and the train station if you want to take a quick ride down to San Diego for the day

Success Expressed

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful resort! I remember the plot of land empty and neglected for decades And now we have a Wonderful resort with beautiful architecture in old San Juan It’s amazing what you can do with the proper planning

The rooms and interiors are authentically designed to the mission and SJC style, just beautiful! We enjoyed the pool amenities and the sunshine with the proper positioning under the sunWhat we really liked about the hotel was the staff They are so friendly, down to earth, welcoming and attentive One of the managers, Michael passed by the pool and checked in on each guest and we had a lovely chat with himDuring brunch on Sunday, another manager, Rod, rolled up his sleeves and helped to bring umbrellas for the guests, the bar tender knew all the trivia of the hotel as he had been here from day oneFrom the valet guys to housekeeping, to waiters, front desk to managers, service was top of mindThank you, we highly recommend this hotel for a relaxing getaway!

Cute little boutique hotel with great staff Greeted by Chris, who gave us a short tour of the hotel, and offered a refreshing drink Highly recommend their bar

Restaurant is open to hotel guests onlyRoom was nice and roomy Appreciated not having a TV 🙂 It is however not quiet (car noise), and no ocean view, unless you stretch out on balcony Easy nice walk to laguna beach

Very good location Within walking distance of Laguna Beach shopping district One block away from beach

Quaint, boutique hotel Bar in the lobby with service to the pool Most of the alcohol selections are non-branded items so if you have a favorite vodka, bourbon, tequila, or wine you cannot get it here There are no TVs in the entire facility nor rooms There is a restaurant on site but if you want breakfast they are not open until 8:00 AM The pool area is really nice for lounging away and relaxing Rooms are on the smaller side and can be a bit cramped The overall experience was very nice

Although the initial impression wasn’t that bad – looking down at the yard, the pool, and ocean – the lasting impression of our stay at Hotel Joaquin is one of being robbedTheir website promises a lot, and we splashed out to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary, and expected (at this price point) an army of service-minded staff that learned our names instead of repeatedly asking for them when eg

serving coffee We expected friendly greetings and questions about dietary restrictions and allergies (I informed them about gluten intolerance when making the reservation), ocean views from the bed (as the website implied), a door that you could lock, sliding doors that actually slid, quiet AC unit, and other bare necessities of a luxury resortWe didn’t expect having no privacy with floor-to-ceiling windows out to a walkway, where people would pass and look straight at you; sliding doors in the room that could not be closed, and made enough noise to wake anyone else sleeping; loud guests and music from downstairs after 10 pm; an awful amount of noise from the road; a very limited set of (odd) breakfast options; gas station type brew coffee only; small tea selection; having to wait 15 minutes for our breakfast despite being the first (and only) guests at 8:10 am, and to add insult to injury, a ”service fee” for breakfast, calculated on a fictional price of the “complimentary” breakfastApparently, they can’t afford to pay the staff, despite the $739/night room price (with the bogus $60 ”resort fee” added)?Note also that, in addition to the discretionary “resort fee” that Hotel Joaquin charge, the city of Laguna Beach has a very high “Transient Occupancy Tax” ($89/night in our case), and then some even further taxes will be addedI sent them a message detailing roughly what is stated above, but it has now been 4 days and they have not responded – this should tell you a thing or two as wellI have no doubt the pandemic was hard for them, but there is no parity between the prices they charge and the service level they provide It is still very much a roadside motel (as stated on their website regarding their humble beginnings), although packaged better

I liked this hotel very much It’s a throwback to the old days of Laguna Beach and has some quirky features, like a pool out by the sidewalk (enclosed in glass) and murals painted on the walls outside The views are fantastic and the staff was very friendly and helpful

It is due for a renovation — peeling paint on the railings, etc — and the manager told me that they are about to do a full redo of the place (including adding a restaurant) This hotel is NOT fancy, so if you want fancy, stay somewhere else If you want comfy, convenient, and reasonably priced, it’s great

Location: 5 stars! Quality per price point: 5 stars! We only had 2 issues… First, our room was never serviced in the 5 nights we stayed We would have to go to the front desk to request fresh towels House keeping never stepped foot inside of our room, even though we displayed the “room service requested” sign daily

After 4 days I stopped by the front desk and asked if we could get our room serviced since we were going to be gone all day When we got home at 11:00 that night still nothing I went to the front desk and, very nicely, let them know of the situation Which leads us to issue number 2… Juanita She was VERY dismissive and patronizing and never once offered an apology or an explanation Would I stay there again? Yes! Would I be prepared to clean by own room? Yes! I would also avoid Juanita

Good: The location is amazing It’s right in the middle of Laguna Beach, so you have options to go north or south for food, shopping and beaches There’s also beach access directly from the back of the property, which once again is very convenient

The staff was always extremely friendly and accommodatingBad: First off, I had no idea that my King Suite was going to be in another building down the street from the main hotel Laguna Riviera (it was the Seven Four One) In a way, that was a plus because it was extremely private, but there were a few downsides though First, there weren’t any staff stationed at the other property Any time I needed something (like turning on the fire pit), I would have to walk up the street and ask because there also weren’t phones in the rooms either Speaking of lacking technology, there wasn’t a TV in the room Can you believe it? No TV! I guess the property is trying to be a little less technology centric, but a TV should be a MUST in a hotel room If you they were trying to be less technology focused, why offer WiFi then? This was extremely annoying for my partner and I We probably won’t stay here again because of what it’s lacking, which is unfortunate because of the great location

We visited the Ranch at Laguna Beach for a quick spring break getaway The location and grounds are amazing, only 15 hours from Los Angeles, walking distance to the beach, and the people and vibe of Laguna Beach are very calm and laid back

We were treated amazingly by the front desk staff upon checking in, especially Olivia, who was professional, knowledgeable, and welcomed our family with open arms We look forward to returning to the Ranch soon and wouldn’t hesitate to refer this property to all our friends and family!

Our stay was nice, rooms nice, played golf also very nice Patio’s and restaurant was solid ok Live music on deck very nice, but 200$ to sit by your fire pits completely stupid

Each night I was there, (3) nobody used them I think management should be embarrassed Interesting how many other people thought it was ridiculous as well Obviously not about building community as much as making a buck

This is a great hotel that touches the water in Laguna Beach The tower rooms on the top floor are the best views in my opinion Not a lot of the rooms have air conditioning but they give lots of fans and being on the sand can be breezy so it’s perfect

Great location and delicious coffee in the hotel The restaurant and bar also have great sights but get reservations And the pool can be a fight for the best seats that face the water, so if you want prime seats, get there early

Sara Samie

A few weeks ago my husband and I decided to do a staycation at Surf and Sand When we arrived the entire staff was very welcoming Lisa checked us in and we told her the purpose of our vacation

She really went out of her way to make sure our stay was memorable She went above and beyond to accommodate us and get us the best room (which was a beautiful upgraded room) If that wasn’t enough they also sent over a bottle of wine and chocolate as they knew how important this time was for us Nicky, who was also at the front desk, checked in on us multiple times to make sure we were doing and that we were enjoying our stay One of the best experiences we had by far!!! This will be our go to place because the property is so beautiful and the staff is very attentive and do their best to make your stay amazing

This hotel is absolutely amazing I had a client residing at the hotel and wanted to do something nice for he and his wife The Concierge, Sandra, and Michael at the front desk, both strategize together to help me quickly plan a wonderful gift for my client

They both stayed late and went well out of their way to assist me and I cannot thank them enough! These two employees exemplify customer service Since I work in a customer service centric industry, multi family, I wanted to commend them both for going out of their way and providing the superior service! Thank you again for all your help to make my clients stay even better! Hats off to Sandra and Michael!

Our time there was very nice, but the room is dated and some of the furniture could use some repair/scratch treatment They could also update the chairs in the room to something a little more comfortable Otherwise, the breakfast was basically continental/American and had some decent choices

The hotel is also conveniently located to shopping and many good restaurants and fast food places I would recommend them to anyone who wants a decent place to stay for a reasonable price

Sue H

My cousin and his wife stayed here to be close to my Mom in Laguna Woods They were given a discount on the room, and breakfast was included They reported it was very nice

There was a fridge in the room and she loved the heat lamp and plush towels in the bathroom! It was very clean and they loved the beautiful grounds They would definitely stay here again

Tommy Savage

Great clean rooms with a so-so continent breakfast, but it is free, so how can I complain The brightest point of the hotel besides it’s cleanliness, great sized rooms and fair prices is the staff that works there They are the most helpful individuals I have ever met

They were always concerned about my needs and did everything they could to take care of everything for me It didn’t matter if it was the morning shift or evening shift they were all fantastic! Thank you ladies and gentlemen for being true professionals!

The hotel is okay The entry is very nice and the staff is kind It’s lovely when you enter, but once you go up in the elevator, everything is dated

Our room is an ocean view with a balcony, which is nice It’s very noisy It’s almost 1am, on a Friday night, and the bars across the street music are so loud I feel like I’m there The walls are incredibly thin I can hear the people walking and talking clearly in the room above us Street traffic is very loud in the room too We’re on the second floor Maybe a 3rd floor room would be quieter Our bathtub is very dirty

K Z

The Volare is going through some renovations and it was evident in some of their roomsWe used their onsite laundry for some loads, which contains 1 laundry machine & dryer available in the garage area from 7am-10pm everyday Their fitness facility was decent and looks to be hardly used

We were very lucky to have used our free nights from Choice pts for our 2night stay, as the redemption levels were low The location is prime as it’s 3 min walk to the bars and restaurants and 20min walk to beach pier

Spacious and comfortable beach themed designed rooms just minutes from the beach and the center of town They offer indoor parking (mostly), surf boards and are located directly across from a great brunch spot and popular donut / coffee restaurant The upper floors have a seating area that provides ocean views

You are close to the freeway but I think the price reflects that making this a great option for San Clemente

Kathy Condon

Going with a friend to explore San Juan Capistrano and San Clemente, so searched the internetIt was only rated 25 stars

I had read reviews and there were so many good ones So I made reservationsGrateful parking Then went into the room remodeled and very cleanLocationdistant view of the ocean, but location provided easy access for you didn’t worry about losing your parking spaceWe would go back again

Christine Quito

Surfbreak is newly renovated and looks cute + is an easy drive down to the downtown San Clemente area You have to look over the freeway to see the ocean, but it’s not a far trip to the pierOur room floors were uneven, the shower handle came off multiple times, and the water pressure in the sink is awful

There’s no breakfast available + there was no drinking water provided Whoever designed the rooms also thought it was a good idea to have a sliding barn door for the bathroom that leaves a footlong gap instead of one that seals smells and sounds in The parking is tight and there’s not a lot of it It’s right off the freeway so pretty loud (but the AC will drown out the traffic noise) For the price you’d think you were paying for a boutique hotel, but it’s really bare bones as far as amenitiesBasically if you’re expecting a motel, head to Surfbreak If you want to lounge at the hotel you book and sit around there, I’d look for someplace else
