Location, location, location If you’re looking for a place to stay in an excellent location, this is one of them But I believe an excellent location can lead a business into laziness and complacency

This is the feeling I got from Capital PlazaFirst, I want to say that the employees at Capital Plaza were wonderful people I place none of the responsibility of my “just okay” experience on them as individuals The overall experience, however, was disappointing We blocked off a set of rooms for our wedding down the road at Buffalo Trace Distillery We had coordinated with Ashley, the event organizer, to have gift bags handed out to guests as they checked in We sent those several weeks in advance from our home in Dover, DE A few guests had arrived before us and did not receive their bags When we asked Ashley about it, we found that the gift bags were still in the package we’d sent, tucked away in a back room With a shrug and a smile, Ashley handed them to us to give to the front desk for disseminationWhen we arrived, we wanted to include an itinerary in the gift bags; my wife drafted them up and emailed them to Ashley who had agreed to print them out, as we couldn’t access the computer in the business center As documents tend to do, the formatting shifted when Ashley opened them, but rather than catch this and correct it, or bring it to our attention, she printed them as they were and we had to improviseOn the final day of our stay, one of my wife’s worst nightmares was realized when she got stuck in an elevator Now, things like this happen, and it’s hard to fault people for unexpected mechanical issues What I took issue with was the utter lack of urgency from the maintenance department The situation was addressed with minimal effort and shoulder shrugs When I addressed this with the front desk, the response was “I’m sorry that happened, but” According to the clerk, a contractor had come in to work on a different elevator without notifying the hotel, and for whatever reason they had shut down the elevator that my wife had been in somewhere between the third and fourth floor When a maintenance guy joined the conversation, he blamed “the computers” and “bugs” and what-not There had been no indicators that any of the elevators would be worked on that day and ultimately, a strap of caution tape was haphazardly taped across the elevator on the first floorWhen we checked out later that morning, another desk clerk asked how our stay was and I pointed out my disappointment with the lack of urgency during the situation She was much more sympathetic, but I didn’t get the sense that any further action would be takenThe Capital Plaza is a short walk to downtown Frankfort and a short drive to the Buffalo Trace Distillery and many other excellent restaurants It’s a gorgeous area, and I can’t help but wonder if the hotel’s location has led to a culture of complacency People are going to stay there Hell, I recommend that you do stay there–as long as you’re just passing through and want a short and safe walk to the bars and breweries in beautiful and historic downtown, Frankfort; however, I would not recommend Capital Plaza if you’re looking to host a local event

Our room was dingy and outdated The best part about it was the shower head even though the bathtub drained very slowly The bed was not comfortable and the pillows were cheap and flimsy

There were stains on the carpet and the ceiling had spots flaking off After our first night I got some extra towels and wash rags (all were thin and could be used as 100 grit sandpaper) and coffee for our room and found out the next morning a huge wad of hair was inside one of the bath towelsgross! The breakfast they cooked was nasty, so we just ate oatmeal, muffins, and bagels The cream cheese tasted old and spoiled No fresh fruit was available both mornings we were there The staff, including front desk people were at least friendly For as much as they charge per night, we expected a nice room, good warm breakfast, and hairless soft towels Needless to say, we will not be returning to Capital Plaza Hotel

Akash ShAh

It’s been a week and it’s good This place is relatively close to local restaurants and bars and the beds are nice Pillows are surprisingly good

Free breakfast is included and it’s enough for breakfastThe bar and built in restaurant has been closed since covid so don’t expect to drink here

I and my family of 5 stayed at the Lawrenceburg KY Best Western Nov 24, 2021 while visiting family nearby for Thanksgiving I’m not one to write reviews, but we had the BEST experience there The staff was so friendly

The rooms were clean, comfortable, and very well equipped The breakfast was amazing My son slept through breakfast, but they graciously fixed him a plate of biscuits and gravy and sausage after the breakfast room had closed This is an extremely well-run hotel with a very courteous and professional staff We will be back!!

We saw them online and thought it looked like a peaceful place to visit from city life Spent three days here They had a jazz band and Mexican food

They did not disappoint The staff here are friendly the grounds are nice Our spot on the river side was level depending on your hookups you may need an extension to keep your steps over the patio Which isn’t a big deal The waterfall is nice after a large rainMy only recommendation is that people who are there long term need to keep their campsites more tidy Really it’s a pet peeve of mine and may not bother someone else I would gladly visit this place again

Megan Collett

We enjoyed our first visit to the campground so much, and it definitely won’t be our last The grounds were clean and beautiful, and other campers were very respectful of the grounds and of other people We really enjoyed the pool and the relaxing atmosphere

At night the campground was very quiet and peaceful We loved how “pet-friendly” the campground is Our little pup enjoyed her stay as well! We can’t wait to go back!

Brad Lee

We’ve stayed at Cummins Ferry twice and have enjoyed both trips The staff is super friendly, they have a very nice store, and you’d better watch out for Bigfoot wandering about!! 😳This time the prices seemed to be a little higher, but I understand they recently changed management and are making a lot of improvements The waterfall on the river is beautiful! It rained pretty hard the day we arrived, so some of the sites were pretty sloppy

Everything seemed to dry out quickly once the weather cleared up On our previous trip we put our kayaks in the river and enjoyed an afternoon kayaking up river, having lunch, and floating back There are goats on the hills a little way upstream from the campground, which was pretty cool They had live music on Saturday night with a food truck, which was a lot of fun We were able to meet a few of our fellow campers They have a lot of kids activities In spite of the higher prices, we will be coming back They’re still working on several improvements, so it may be a little premature to use the terms “luxurious” and “resort” but it seems they’re heading that way! Happy camping!

Mainly I will be here to use the ramp The campground has plenty of space though and the owners were always kind They’ve kept the ramp pretty clean relative to what the river normally gives

One of my favorite areas on the river for how peaceful it is Highly recommend the campground and area Parking for the boat ramp is REALLY good And everyone Ive come across has been very kind

Mike Watson

This is my favorite place in the world The people that run it would give you the shirt off their backs if you needed them The locals that live/camp there season round are all very friendly families

Well kept clean campground Family and kid friendly Fishing Primitive camping with and without electric Plenty of RV camping The local store does little pot lucks on Saturdays Once a month they usually do a special event Showers and bathrooms Very clean, hot water Pretty nice My home away from home Love this place, love the people, love the area, love the KY river

Stacey Newcomer

Awesome little campground on the bank of the Kentucky River Lots of long term/resident campers, but all sites are clean and look good The tent sites are spacious, lush grass, and partially shaded

Great access to the river and the boat launch The restrooms are clean, well stocked The little store is neat too The whole place felt welcoming, friendly, and safe Oh! There’s none to very little cell service in the area but the office has a couple wifi connectionswhich were very much appreciated! Can’t wait to come back and camp again soon

We stayed overnight because we had a bourbon tour scheduled for the next day Walked in and they must have been cleaning the floor because there were mops leaning against the counter and it had a cleaning smell Room was good, and nice hot water in room

Breakfast had pork sausage, eggs, oatmeal etc The following morning the lobby was pristine and had no chemical smell Overall a nice place to stay

Mike Terry

Pretty straight forward place to stay I have stayed here 4-5 times a year for the last 7 years and although there are not a lot of frills it has consistently been a dependable place to stay and I have had no complaints Rooms are a good size and have always been substantial

Overall price has been fair and generally one of the more affordable properties within a given range

Debbie Jones

We came in super late on 8/3 and the front desk attendant was so helpful and understanding as we were exhausted! Everyone went over and beyond! We slept better than we have in the past, and we travel often We were on the 127 Yard Sale trip, and after 4 nights in different hotels, this was still the very best!! Hats off to management at this hotel!! A++++ ❤️

We came for the Mother’s Day brunch and were the last seating time We were also the last table to get to the Buffet Several of the foods were gone and the ones that were there were crackers and cheese and fruit also salad

I was disappointed for 2800 a plate and we assumed there would be more breakfast items such as biscuits and gravy They did have bacon and it was cooked very well The wait staff was friendly and kept our drinks full We may try again when its not so busy for a holiday We did not stay in a room The Inn is very lovely

Renee Selvio

If we could select 15 that would be more appropriate As mentioned in other reviews, the pictures do not reflect the current state of the BNB and the location is in the middle of a neighborhood

The rooms need some TLC and a deep cleaning The air return vents were covered in dust, items needed touched with paint, several safety hazards were noticed in our second room and the main house was cluttered The house is very eclectic The air conditioner was faulty at best with our room temperature hovering around 78 degrees until the early morning hours If you like to sleep with a lot of light, the room was great, but we like a dark room and had to rig up ways to cover the light coming in from the porthole style window and the glass doorBreakfast was good and the coffee featured several options for creamers That was great! There is an on-site dog that was beautiful and sweet but not trained Dog nose at table height right by our bowls and “dancing” with owner frequently through the course of our breakfast which created an uncomfortable environment The experience was definitely unique and one that we will laugh about for years to come, but we will not be returning

Steve Thomas

The entire experience was beyond enjoyable for me and my wife on our anniversary Pam (the owner/ operator) was so sweet and she set the tone for the experience The room was delightful/ just what we needed to unwind

My wife especially enjoyed the jacuzzi tub Breakfast in the dining ‘car’ was an absolute delight We will definitely do this again Maybe next time we will experience a different themed room (we stayed in the London Room this time) Best anniversary ever!

Jamie Gloor

Good location near several horse farms, great breakfast, not too busy (we just recently stayed there), and a friendly inn-keeper (Pam)But, we were charged nearly $100 more for our 2 rooms than we were quoted on the phone (not incl tax)–and I followed up twice about this overcharge without response–and there was not enough hot water for my mom OR my dad to bathe

It was nice, but several things also needed updating/TLC, so the price we paid was way too high for what we got

I love Glenda and Herb at Rabbit Creek Bed & Breakfast I stay at Rabbit Creek about five weeks per year while I’m in Lexington for the Keeneland Thoroughbred Auction I’m on the auction staff there

I’ve been coming back to Rabbit Creek for about nine years nowHerb and Glenda are wonderful hosts Lovely spacious home (10,000 sq ft) beautiful grounds and all the amenities to make my time away from home feel like home Their breakfasts are wonderful and our visits and conversations are memorable I introduce myself to the other guests as “the third son”Rabbit Creek will always be my go-to place to rest, relax and enjoy my time in the Versailles/ Lexington areaIt’s the perfect place to stay if you’re in the area for the Bourbon Trail as well

Lauren Coleman

My family and I had truly a wonderful experience here Herb made sure we were comfortable from beginning to end The home and surrounding grounds are just lovely, a treat for the eyes and the soul

Quiet, comfortable, and inviting, the home itself is hand built, and well loved, and you can feel the love when you’re there We feel like we really made a friend in Herb, and Glenda was just great in taking our booking, and keeping in contact with us the day we checked in She even went as far as calling us to see how far out we were, because she had an errand to run, and was going to schedule the errand around our arrival time, so she wouldn’t miss us The next time we visit Kentucky, there is no question where we will be staying Truly good, deep, and meaningful conversations with Herb every morning helped to start what would be stressful days, with good fellowship, and hearty companionship So much so, that on our last day, we missed him at breakfast, and we felt the loss of our morning talks I highly suggest that if you are in the area, and need a place to stay, please give Herb and Glenda a call

Patrick Gill

It was like being part of the family The rooms were nice – clean and spacious- but if that is all you are after you can stay in a hotel One of the benefits of a B&B is the people (okay, the breakfast as well – which in itself was quite nice), but the best part by far was Glenda and Herb – I’ve never had such nice hosts – it was like being welcomed by your grand-parents (not your parents, because they would make you do chores)

Quiet evenings sitting in the living room with them and their actual family was a highlight of our visit, surpassed only by Herb taking us next door to watch the foals come out to pasture – a trip to Kentucky would not be complete without horses They are centrally located to several Bourbon Distilleries as well, and we used them as our base of operations for trips all over Kentucky They are out in the country so don’t expect to walk down to the pub for a pint – but being in the country is the experienceI definitely recommend them and will be back if we get a chance
