Nothing fancy about this property But it was clean, comfortable and a decent price It was just a few minutes from the Badger, which was why we were in Ludington

We just needed a place to spend the night before boarding the ferry the next morning The Viking Arms suited us just fine for that purpose The pool water looked a bit nasty We had no plans to swim, so it didn’t matter to us, but I wouldn’t recommend this property to anyone hoping to take a refreshing dip

Ben Blake

Based off of the other reviews and photos on the Viking Arms Inn, I was expecting a nice updated room and comfortable stay Upon arrival I was very upset to have been placed in a room that had a disgusting bathroom that looked like it hadn’t been touched since the 70’s Quite frankly was not comfortable enough to sit on the seat or step foot in the shower

There was still painters tape left on one of the lights as well Bed sheets were as yellow as could beWould not stay here again The pictures speak for themselves

This is our third trip here and we’ll be back Though a low key place often filled with bikers (we’re bikers, too, this is just a family haunt for us) it’s always clean, the hot tub and pool are always empty, the wifi is quick, and the staff helpful and friendly Rite aid and gas station next door, downtown a few minutes away, more stores to the east, Ludington state park beach west and north

My husband and I have stayed here twice now Both times were a lovely experience We stayed in Room 1, we love the en-suite jacuzzi, the fireplace, and how spacious the room is

Bob and Ellen (the owners) are very sweet and attentive The decorations suit the style of the house without being over-the-top, like some bed and breakfasts Also, the breakfasts here are amazing! We like that the tables during breakfast are set up individually, so it’s up to you how much you interact with other guests or keep to yourself Great walking distance from downtown

Jill McKerr

My husband and I wanted to get away for the weekend, and we chose the Ludington House because it was so quaint Our hosts, Bob and Ellen were welcoming and accommodating We were on the third floor in the Wicker Room and our room was immaculate and very comfortable

The location is great and many attractions are within walking distance Our breakfast was made from scratch and was a gourmet delight! Our experience was very positive and we look forward to returning in the future

Rick Carlson

My wife and I have stayed at the Ludington House many times with our favorite room being the Rose room, which has a very nice shower and comfortable room Of the 10 or so different B&B’s we’ve stayed at in last 17 years Bob’s breakfasts, at the Ludington House, are the best Great flavor and hot

They also serve the best French Press coffee We will definitely be back again

We stayed 2 nights here and had a great experience The lady at front desk was very friendly and helpful Check in was speedy and the room and hotel was clean which was most important to me

Breakfast was a good assortment of hot food, bread, bagels, yogurt I also appreciated the 24/7 hot coffee available in the Cafe area My only complaint is that our bed was pretty firm so it was uncomfortable however the soft pillows were wonderful I will definitely stay here again the next time we are in the area

Christopher Wilburn

Amazing little jem tucked awayWe stayed for a night, and it was the only place for miles with a room under $150 The owner was a sweetheart, you could feel all the love and care that was put into it

To us it was like visiting grandma’s house, warm, welcoming, calm, and clean It is true it’s “outdated”, but that’s part of the charm, to be relaxed

Shawn Poole

Stayed 1 night while on a motorcycle trip seeing the Great Lakes with a friend We both agreed room was extremely clean, comfortable and simple Our room was closest to the road but, with the air on there was no outside noise coming in

Restaurants within walking distance and a few miles down the road was the main town Would stay here again!

NO POOL or HOT TUB Not sure if it’s a Covid thing, but these are “under maintenance” with no maintenance effort visible Room was smaller than expected based on Priceline description

If you book a stay here, it’s for the location only Very few amenities/services available No closet, just a small rack on the wall No bathtub, shower only No room service No iron or ironing board No microwave But you do get a partial roll of toilet paper! Room was clean, towels aplenty Hot water instantly in shower Proprietors are friendly and helpful

Going again to Ludington this April This will be last place I stay Went last September 2021

Thermostat in room needed batteries we had to fix There a week, no one cleaned Garbage in hall Had to get own toilet paper and towels We understand no help but the price was the highest we ever paid The breakfast was hardly nothing It made us mad to pay more money for much less amenities We should of been paid for a week worth of house keeping and maintenance We walked by a no housekeeping sign on floor for a week We left it there just to see how long it look for someone to pick it up The workers there were worth less I have pictures, wish I knew how to posted them I hope it’s now better, but they lost our yearly stay

Wendy S.

Really clean, well maintained hotel Front desk receptionist was fantastic Dog treat bag was so thoughtful

I appreciate that! Great selection of breakfast foods Super attentive breakfast attendant We weren’t given a crummy room just cuz we had a dog Our dog is well behaved and well groomed so I don’t like how hotels give out the worst rooms to dog people Our room was just fine And the dog fee was super cheap — $10! I would highly recommend this hotel and definitely would go back

A big hearty THANK YOU to the staff at this location, especially Kalisha and Jamie! Excellent service, impeccably clean rooms and hallways, very comfortable beds, well maintained pool, arcade and kid spaces and delicious breakfast choices make this the very best value for your travel Their attention to detail reminded me more of luxury accommodations than the usual family value facilities This is a FIVE-star place for a much more affordable price!

We have a cottage in town We booked the Carriage House for friends staying from Switzerland This was ideal! They were very comfortable and loved the accommodations

I can honestly say The Hexagon House serves the Best Breakfast in Pentwater!! Michelle truly is the best Hostess of any B&B I’ve ever experienced Staying here is a treat!! Our Swiss friends said this was their favorite part of being in the States

Jane Verduin

My husband and I rented all the rooms in the main house for my siblings who came for a family wedding Brendan and Michelle were so kind and thoughtful throughout the planning and event We are so grateful to them for hosting my family as if they were their own! Everyone loved the setting, the great food, having lots of indoor and outdoor spaces to relax and enjoy eachothers’ company

Absolutely loved this precious experience!!!

Mary Lowe

We visited Pentwater for a family event and were happy to have found Hexagon House for our stay The hosts, Michelle and Brendan, were delightful and did their utmost to ensure that all of our needs were met They could not have been nicer to us

The Homestead Room was comfortable and the private porch was really lovely Breakfast was delicious, as were the goodies laid out for snacking during the day We found the house and grounds to be peaceful but just a short distance from the hustle and bustle of Pentwater Village We highly recommend this place

This cabin community is the perfect place for our extended family Some of the cabins are rustic, but it is clean and well kept and the hos family is welcoming and responsive It a a beautiful site overlooking Lake Hamlin and a short drive to the large city beach or state park, both on Lake Michigan

We also used the pool and playground extensively

Jason Struve

This is a quite family oriented resort in Ludington When I booked our cottage in February looking at their interactive map on the website it appears to be directly on the water, in fact we were under the assumption that we would be able to watch our kids fish from the porch of our cabin because the map makes it appear that way The first thing we noticed on arrival was there is a huge Clif that separates all the cabins from the water and there is no swimming on the water front they do own

So here is the goodFamily friendly,Gorgeous views, close to the city and state park, boat rental on premise, well maintained pool, clean laundry facility, beautiful sunset views and our cabin had a new shower We were in Cabin 20 the bad decor Is from the 50s-70s, mattresses are very uncomfortable, sleeps 8 but can only sit 5 in the living room, cable was horrible service, each cabin does not have its own fire pit so you have to make s’mores with strangers, the cabin sits on a slant so the doors swing open and shut on there own, there are drain flies and many spiders throughout the cabinOne of our outdoor chairs was broken, the fridge would leak on defrost, a random cat would come over, the window leaked when it rainedOverall it was a fun family experience and will probably stay again

Under new ownership, it’s now called Mittens flat The rooms are not as quaint as pictured wasn’t impressed with room 5 unless you’re a pet owner also very small room to small for anything larger than a small dog

Overall poor value For starters the room smelt like dog, the travel literature and the restaurant menus in the room were at least 2 years old There was a useless extremely uncomfortable wood beach chair in the room that took a lot of the small room you had The fridge, and microwave were stacked on a small corner table along with the coffee maker Extremely cramped If you wanted to use the microwave you would have to move it to the floor for the cord to reach the outlet The best thing I can say about it is the location and the weather was beautiful during my stay so I didn’t have to spend much time in the room If I would have had to spend time in the room I would have had to play cards and have a drink sitting on the bed or floor For $11100 a night it would easy to find a better room with coffee grounds and appropriate condiments (they don’t supply coffee, sugar, or creamer) I gave two stars only for the location

OVERPRICED CALL ELSEWHERE Jill no longer owns Check Naders, Snyder’s, Pier House, Parkview cottages (almost less than half price) for better rates

New owners not so great Rates are less at other places which have more space, kitchenettes, drawers, private balconies, and much MORE Been staying at this motel for the past decade or more We tried to be positive BUT: The new owners have the highest rate out of all the motels and the rooms are tiny They also got rid of every ounce of charm Zero upgrades The metal bunk beds ruin the rooms, fridge on floor, no drawers for clothes No room here sleeps 5 LOL Bunk beds don’t equal more space It is very sad to see these changes They’ve done nothing to the place except raise prices The new owners took all the charm and character out of the place, added metal bunk beds & raised the price by double or more and it is insane they’re getting away with it Snyder’s, Naders and more have much better bang for your buck Check there first Lastly at our stay, 2 women came to the motel, could not get ahold of Unsalted and almost had nowhere to sleep since it was the near July 4th We helped them get into their room There is no one there to help you, everything is e-mails and response times are very slow Don’t waste your money Myself and other guests that have been coming here for YEARS are no longer returning

Tom Avery

Wow! Just so pleasantly surprised at how nice this was! Just a few weeks after reopening in Michigan, my wife and I needed a getaway for our anniversary and we found this little gem It’s a traditional motel without frills of a breakfast but has so much more Everything feels new, from the tub to the paint to the thoughtful way they put the mini fridge up on something so you don’t need to crawl on the floor

Jill is the owner and was pleasant and welcoming, Dawn was a gracious host and the maintenance guy was helpful at fixing wifi with a smile There is more to say but it really has just been a great experience

Our recent stay in the King Suite at The Cartier Mansion in Ludington, MI was truly amazing! We kicked off our vacation in high style by staying at this historic and elegant bed and breakfast Our hosts, the owners, Jenna and Chris Simpler, were so engaged and engaging when sharing the history of this home with us We started each day with morning coffee on a “grand” balcony attached to our room before showering in an authentic, period correct, needle shower that left you totally relaxed and ready for the day’s activities

Before heading off for the day we joined the other b&b guests for a truly unique and appetizing multi-course gourmet breakfast prepared by our hosts with great care We enjoyed an afternoon refreshment and snack with Jenna while she enlightened us with historical insights of the mansion and the original owners family We ended our day back on the balcony overlooking East Ludington Avenue enjoying the breezes before retiring for the evening

Erika Oehlers

My spouse and I spent the weekend here to celebrate our anniversary The charm of the house was exhilarating when we entered, complete with a complementary bottle of wine to toast our celebration And the breakfast service was unforgettable

They locally source as much as they can, and everything is made in house from scratch We felt truly cared for from check in to check out, with great recommendations from host Jenna for local attractions and restaurantsOne thing to note is that the Garden Suite is actually two separate rooms (a bedroom and a sitting room with a futon) We didn’t really use the other room, but it could easily sleep another guest or two

Classy Charming Cool

This place is one of the most professional, enjoyable, and memorable experiences I’ve had while traveling The architecture, and interior decorating are top-notch (I want that library!) It’s a preservationists dream home, and it’s been extremely well done thus far Had a friendly welcome from Jenna, who was great the entire time We didn’t have the chance to meet Chris, but that’s okay as he was most likely preparing an amazing breakfast The mansion had a nice musical instrument room, sitting room, dining room, library and game room We actually played chess, and were very impressed with the Scrabble and Monopoly sets We stayed in the carriage house, Hayloft Suite I Slept three great, but could accommodate 4-5 (depending on policy) Door locks are resettable codes, and very convenient There were chocolates and water waiting in the room Had a blow dryer, tv, coffee maker, and fireplace Lots of good space and high ceiling They spared no expense renovating, and it shows Really great taste The bed was very comfortable and soft, I’m used to firm, but it was great Pillows were fluffy, and really my only complaint is I was they had a more firm one Still slept great Breakfast for the carriage house was at 9:30 The first day we had Orange Lavender Sippers, cranberry scones, Coffee, Almond Brioche French Toast, and bacon (pictured) It was really some wonderful flavor and textures The French toast had crunch to it, and really stood out Bacon was crisp Second day we had blueberry lemonade, ancient grains with apples, Irish egg crock, 22 spice sausage (really awesome, they could make a fortune as a side business), and a spinach blueberry salad The neighborhood is a nice and walkable except the main road with loud vehicles The shore isn’t too bad of a walk given flat terrain Awesome experience Definitely recommending it to friends, and hope to revisit soon

I LOVE historic buildings, so this was a wonderful place for me My room was spotless and smelled fresh and clean The bed was firm, yet comfortable

The location was perfect! The only (minor) disappointment was that the “breakfast” was prepackaged muffins, and they don’t offer decaf coffee Also, the coffee is put away after breakfast Many other hotels and motels offer regular and decaf coffee all day longNot a huge deal I was able to purchase some decaf down the street and store some extra in the mini fridge for the next morningOverall, I enjoyed my stay here and would definitely come back

Jason Poeske

This place was great Easy to find and located perfectly for our trip Room was clean and comfortable

It was on the small side but we were not there to hang out in the room so it worked for us Staff was friendly All the decor was straight out if the past but well maintained Can’t stress enough how great this place was We would stay there again

This hotel is great Living in a 180 year old farmhouse it has the same decor The rooms are super clean and the beds are comfy

Because it’s old we never heard any noise as the walls are much better than other hotels You can’t beat the price and it’s close to everything We are having a house built in Ludington and we have been staying here on and off as it’s convenient and a nice hotel Highly recommend as it’s a different experience than staying in a chain hotel Nice staff as well

Chose this place on internet because it looked cute No disappointment, it was cute, quaint and very clean Walking distance to downtown and just 2 blocks from the water

We were only there for 1 night, took US badger over to Wisconsin and it was perfect Don’t let the outside appearance fool you, it’s very nice, and manager Muriel is very sweet Will definitely stay here next time we are in the area

Katie Kovalenko

We stayed in the appartment on the second floor of the house My biggest point that it is totally not worth $230 a night especially off season It is spacy but everything is very old

Floors were squicky and kitchen floor was very sticky No napkins or paper towels There was a open glass bowl with something in the fridge probably left from someone TV is super tinyPros: Excellent location Close to EVERYTHING and just steps from the lake A lot of room for a family of 4Cons : Everything is very old Didn’t have the clean feelingThe bed and the floors are squicky Train horn woke is up every morning

J Talls

The woman I spoke with was incredibly nice and it’s closer to the beach, which is great as well But to show up on a hate day and to not even have the AC moon was a tough start following a long drive After turning on the window unit, it’s immediately clear it is not cold at all and barely blows on high

I’m very thankful I brought my fan or it would’ve been intolerableEverything in the refrigerator was frozen which took care of the leftover pizza we brought inThe bed was old, broken down, and uncomfortableI’m not sure we would ever stay there again unless in a real pinch

Beautiful, historic bed and breakfast built in 1889 The staff was very friendly but unimposing We stayed Saturday and Sunday night

The first night there were several other guests, but just us on Sunday night (mid March) The prices are very reasonable off-season and the breakfast was homemade and outstanding! You have the choice of eating in the dining room or a tray brought to your room Very cool place and a great choice to stay especially off-season!

Heather Mckenzie

The Inn is charming and the breakfast was good We stayed in room 5 and it’s a full size bed max two adults The bathroom is extremely small, fyi for larger adults

The worst part about this stay was the constant smell of cigarette smoke It was extremely potent in the bathroom and made the air quality in the whole room very bad I have no idea if it was a guest or a resident smoking but it was at times intolerable as I’m allergic to it Proximity to downtown is about a mile and not a bad walk even in the winter months Parking was close and convenient

Rene Polley

The best place we’ve ever stayed on a vacation

ever! We stayed from Sunday to Friday but we already can’t wait to come backBreakfast:Breakfast was at 9am every day, and we chose to eat in the dining room (but they will bring it up to your room or bring it at another time if you need) One member of our group had an egg allergy and they went above and beyond to make sure he had plenty of food He asked for a banana one day, which they didn’t have (they were so apologetic!), and they brought him 2 the next day! Breakfasts were incredible Quiches, french toast, pancakes, fresh fruit, baked oatmeal, scrambled eggs, yogurt, fresh biscuits, and sausage were some of the hits!Snacking:They always had a variety of juices and snacks such as yogurt, string cheese, hard boiled eggs, cereal, etc that were available all day every day for snacking There is a microwave you can use in the dining room if you store leftovers in your room’s fridgeGarden:There was a beautiful garden just outside the inn with plenty of seating, a fire pit, and a grillThe room:We had the double queen room with 4 of us Plenty of space so we didn’t feel like we were on top of each other We LOVED that there was a sink outside of the bathroom as well as inside It made it easy to get ready in the morning Beds were super comfy We wished there was a dresser to put our clothes in but that’s only because we stayed for so long and had a lot We absolutely loved the decorations – it felt like I was at home with my mom The staff were amazing and incredibly kind and helpful I loved that it was a woman-owned business!Location: super close to downtown and maybe 20 minutes walk from the beach We walked a lot but we usually drove to the beachFinal thoughts:Please give this place a try! We had one of the best vacations of our lives here Hope you do, too! Thanks Wendy and the rest of the staff 🙂
