I’d like to start out buy saying we are IHG reward members We usually stay at IHG reward hotels mostly Holiday Inns I would strongly recommend bypassing this one

We stayed in room 320 When we woke up the bathroom was full of water all over the floor We used spare towels to clean it up so we could get ready to leave that morning My wife left her high end hair straightener to cool by the A/C when we left at 1030 or so that morning We were on our way to drop our son off at the Coast Guard Academy in New London When she realized she left it about 1050am she called the hotel The lady put her on hold for 10 min or so and came back and said they found it and it will be at the front desk She informed them we will be back at 4:00pm to pick it up When we got there, all of a sudden they can’t find it We all know what happened We are in the process of using all our reward points and changing hotels chains I would stay clear of this one!

We were traveling and had to pick a hotel for the night We often stay at Holiday Inns and have been quite satisfied Unfortunately, we were not very satisfied here

The hall carpets were stained and the carpet in the room was very worn There was a bubbling in the ceiling, a bubbling of the wallpaper in one area while it was tearing off in another area The exhaust vent was completely dirty in the bathroom as well as the ceiling tiles not aligned properly We went to iron our clothes in the morning and the ironing board was broken that it couldn’t be used We couldn’t have a coffee in the room as it was not plugged in and we would have needed to crawl under a table and sort through cords which we were not willing to do since the carpet was dirtyIn the breakfast area the wallpaper had huge bubbles where it was coming off the wall Some tracks were coming off the ceiling as well as mising valances on the shades I do not expect much from a hotel breakfast, however, it was mediocre at bestThe outside of the building looked fine and in good shape and is in a good location to shops and restaurantsThe staff were very friendlyWe just don’t feel this Holiday Inn lived up to the standards we would expect from this hotel chain

We have stayed in several IHG’s since joining their loyalty program This hotel leaves a lot to be desiredPositiveAngela is amazing at housekeepingTo be improvedBreakfast can not leave the breakfast area

Why not? Why would we want every sitting in one room when we still have an active virus? The pool room was very very hot, over 90 degrees, and the towels where no more than a hand towelThe team here, complained a lot about each other Most mornings I would sit in the business center, across from the front desk, and each day they had several complaints about other members of their team, everydayWe stayed here for the 2 bedroom rooms, but they had nothing in the kitchenette No plates, bowls, silverware, cups, etcPlease stay at the Hilton Homewood suites just up the road if you need a 2 roomPlease just treat the guests with respect, don’t make them wait 10 minutes while you finish a personal call in the back room

Update: We stay here frequently for work and have to hive shot out to Carla who always goes beyond Also rooms are renovated now, love the full kitchen!First impression:It was just ok I told one of the girls at front desk that I had no phone service in my room and she told me to use my cellphone😲! But the night shift front desk girl when we arrived was super friendly

Breakfast was not as good as Rochester, NY location Also, it’s time to update the plugs with USB they still have a fax/tel outlet lol

Elena Pirovano

Business traveler Unless you absolutely need to stay at this hotel I would not recommend it My stay was for 19 days and it was average – at best

The bedding and towels are thin and cheap I was told upon check in that housekeeping would come once a week – never came until I asked at the front desk The room had a horrible odor and it did not look thoroughly cleaned from day 1 With two other hotels VERY close by you’d think the staff would put more effort into making sure the customers have a pleasant stayIf you’re planning on spending any time in your hotel room I would not recommend Homewood Suites

Housekeeping is on request For our 5 night stay we asked for two nights to be covered I had to ask twice because they didn’t provide service the first time, and also the second time

Check out is at 11 and it was our last day, there was a knock at the door for housekeeping at 1030 while we were trying to leave There’s only one person working the front desk at night and no house keeping on site The front desk phone was always busy and if you got through, you had to come get your requested items yourself Hilton, do better Do better by your staff

Chase Fullington

Catalytic converter stolen in the parking lot of the hotel! It was stolen sometime overnight Officer that came to take the report told me that he is at this location approximately twice per week on catalytic converter thefts Management is aware this is happening but does not have a single camera on the exterior of the hotel

Parking lot is full of trash, its clear they never spot clean it Beer cans, bottles and easily hundreds of cigarette buttsRoom was clean and in good condition That was a positive

Anthony Valenti

The hotel is fine, the front desk staff is a problem Both when I checked in and every morning eating breakfast I would watch them be rude to the guests Two men in particular always looked like they were annoyed and couldn’t be bothered to do their jobs, arms crossed and rolling eyes at every one coming to town to work that was in work attire

We stayed several nights in May 2022 (for the Yale reunion) and absolutely loved our experience The rooms are very well-appointed, with all the comforts of home including a wet bar area that looks very posh The decor and accent pieces were all so tastefully done, both in the room and the lobby

We were also quite impressed with the gym and fitness equipmentNever had a problem with noise for the four nights we were there I wish we had a hotel with this kind of vibe closer to where we are in Northern California!

Melanie

The hotel was very comfortable, and the morning coffee/tea service was a great touch We drove in from NYC and booked this hotel since we were eloping at City Hall the next morning, and trying to request a late checkout was far more difficult than I have encountered at any hotel in the past I noted the purpose of our trip in the reservation comments and was surprised that not one staff member bothered to share a simple “congratulations” when they read/heard we were getting married

We repeatedly received well wishes from strangers on the street I would have thought it would be the bare minimum from someone who had chosen a career in the hospitality industry The hotel was beautiful, but the service did not match the premium price point

Jessica Silvia

Just got home from our stay in room 314 and already miss the beautiful features We were in town for a concert and the location of this hotel was perfect It was in walking distance to many great restaurants, but also has a fine dining type restaurant on the main level and a rooftop bar that serves snack type foods along with delicious cocktails

Our room was perfect for what we needed and we could tell there were many thought out details that went into planning that you often don’t see at the big name hotels The staff was friendly and courteous and we really appreciated the complimentary morning coffee delivery each morning

Nice clean hotel Very good with housekeeping You notice the room is slightly dated if the AC not running but it was still great

Best were all the wonderful employees who made our stay even better than we expected although we run into a little booking issue due to the selected upgrades They resolved it in the best way Very happy and highly recommend because their guest services is excellent Would be happy to return

Catherine Ekman

Room was clean and fresh Hotel was very quiet on the Fourth floor for the whole holiday weekend The breakfast attendant Malikah went above and beyond making sure everything was first rate for breakfast

She was warm and cheerful and polite All the employees reached out kindly to help with anything we needed Great experience at this hotel

This Hampton Inn is really gorgeous and the people are very nice, especially the custodial workers and cleaning service personnel The rooms have many outlets and USB ports, which is very nice There are two elevators and wheelchair accessible accommodations in the dining area and bathrooms

The rooms do not have a proper place to hang a hand towel, but that is not a big deal The TV does have a guide channel, unlike other recent ones, which is nice They gave a small convenience store, but it is cheaper to go to the one next door and they were out of several essential items I was shocked that when I asked for a bar of deodorant, having run out on our travels, that they only had one bar, for men, and were going to charge me $350 for this little travel size This is the first time, Diamond member or not, that they have charged for simple sundries They know that I am set to stay there four nights, paying a pretty penny, no nights on points I would have thought they could spare a bar of deodorant The breakfast was subpar, with minimal spread each day, but manageable considering a free meal The pool has water that is green You cannot see your limbs in it The food is the same every morning, and our room keys and my digital key continues to stop working

78 DEGREE ROOMSI am not sure why all of the reviews within the past 2 weeks are more than 1 starThe hotel is very nice (lobby, elevators, hallways) However, once we checked in we were not warned about all of the room conditions

It was not until after driving 3 hours, checking in, and opening our room door that we noticed the room temperature was 78 degrees We turned the thermostat down to 67, left and came back 30 minutes later to the room still at 78 Called the front desk and they said they had no other rooms to move us to They also said all fans had been given out to other rooms 3am we called the desk again and they moved us to a room that a guest had cancelled their reservation 3am we moved all of our belongings to a new room The new room was 74 degrees, but eventually went back up to 78 We had our dog with us and had to keep filling buckets of ice for him to keep cool as well as put damp towels on the ground for him to lay onThe hotel made no attempt to warn us prior to our arrival The hotel made no attempt to go out and buy more fans I have never had such an uncomfortable stay in a hotel

Blair Skidmore

Great location, just around the corner from the Yale campus, restaurants and shopping Parking garage attached to the hotel via a sky bridge so you don’t have to go out in the rain or other weather to go to your car Well-stocked 24-hour mini market in the lobby

Staff was very friendly and helpful Room was well appointed and clean Would stay here again

gabrielle lobascio

Convenient location Was greeted by such a friendly receptionist at the front desk! Booking process and check in was simple and fast The room was clean, just a tad hot and humid when I arrived

Took some time to cool down There is no included parking You have to pay to park in parking garage across street Garage is connected to hotel and was easy access once parked I was not aware of this when I booked Overall great experience and would stay here again!

We stayed two nights over the weekend while visiting CT and loved the beauty of the hotel It is close to the highway and easily accessible to the Boston Post Road shopping and restaurants, 15 minutes to downtown New Haven You can also get to the shoreline and seafood restaurants in about 15 minutes

The rooms have 10 foot ceilings which I have never seen and they are very spacious! The staff were very friendly and attentive The laundry facility was clean and the dryers were excellent I only had to put $150 in once to dry our clothes They have an indoor pool and hot tub and breakfast was hot (I wasn’t a fan of anything but it was clean and hot) I will definitely stay here again It was a better experience compared to staying in Manhattan at a “luxury” hotel

Paul Jacobs

The all new Homewood Suites is by far the nicest and best hotel in the entire New Haven and surrounding area Appearance wise, they went above and beyond any comparably priced hotel, it’s truly beautiful inside along with the manicured, park like grounds outside The rooms are spacious with kitchens and I was told there are 1 bedroom suites in addition to the studio designed, apartment like rooms

It is quiet, peaceful and serene with amenities such as the indoor pool, hot tub, well equipped gym, basketball court, gas grills with outside tables, the buffet breakfast and social hour is inside an amazing, spacious and open room overlooking picture perfect,, landscaped, countryside of Orange, CT Many guests must stay longer term as I met a nurse from the South working at Yale’s hospital Some of the reviews are not accurate and to claim racism with the most diverse staff tells me that they must have violated the state mandated, Covid rules that I recall being handed a copy of on my first time, check in Another complained of the hot tub being cold so yes, these things can happen anywhere but should not characterize this brand new hotel that I felt was comparable to a Ritz Carlton without the exorbitant prices associated with a top rated, full service hotel If I can get the facility without paying for the services such as room service, bellman service and valet parking, it’s a huge win as no doubt, this Homewood Suites room in Manhattan or any major city would be $1200 or more per night The staff were all polite and friendly, usually addressing me by name Any poor review I would beg to differ with after multiple stays and will tell anyone to use the place for its intention, a comfortable nights stay in a beautifully appointed room with hotel amenities galore, enjoy the great breakfast buffet or mingle during the weeknight cocktail hours, charge your EV in one of the several charging stations, even has an Amazon delivery lockers in the lobby I can go there in the worst mood and become instantly happy and do go there on occasion for a night or two to feel away and on vacation While this hotel certainly did not deserve a single poor review, what it does deserve is telling the truth about this fantastic place, just hope after all these compliments they do not raise the price

Tamara Faulkner

This was my first time staying at this location I loved the evening social during the week and the staff were nice The staff knew the guests by name and made you feel welcomed

The only issue I had was the housekeeping did not replace the coffee cups in the room when only the towels were replaced Besides that issue I will return the next time I am in the area for work

Our family has had to stay in a few hotels in the area while our home was under construction and Hyatt House has been our favorite experience thus far We booked a king room with pullout bed and kitchenette for our family of four and it was the perfect amount of space to stay for the 4 days we were there The room was dated but VERY clean and organized

The bed was perfect for sleeping and even the pullout bed was the most comfortable one I have ever slept onThe staff was so kind every moment and attentive to anything we needed Breakfast was ample, the space was always clean and the food was always warm – and we appreciated the warm cookies and drinks available at night The pool and hot tub were a tad heavy on the chemicals but the temps were just right for us We visited every nightWe used the gym every day too and I loved the upgraded treadmills and variety of machines available for the space (3 treadmills, 2 ellipticals, 2 bikes, weights and standing weight machine) Whenever we addressed a question of concern, it was taken with care and answered as we hoped We will be staying again!

Kristen Murphy

Stayed here for one night while traveling Not too far off of Rt 8, which was helpful The room was clean and everyone on staff was very friendly

The hotel was quietThe pool/hot tub was open till 10pm which was great They have a bar downstairs and offer breakfast at 7am Thanks for the good stay

Shane Vega

The breakfast was absolutely the worst The juice was totally watered down The oatmeal was like water and wasn’t thick at all any of the days

I watched the worker take a piece of sausage sitting on the counter and put it back in with the sausages Just insane! The coffee was straight water They are either cutting corners or their staff has no idea what they are doing Was a waste of money for sureThe room shower was clogged and the shower head was broken upon entry of the room You have no free water so it cost you $7 a bottle of you drink the waters in the room 😱 The room smelled damp like humid

The staff at this location goes above and beyond I had a brief stopover, arriving late and leaving early, but they could not have been nicer The woman making our coffee in the morning was friendly and warm

The people checking us in and out were polite and respectful And when I discovered a lost item after getting home, the staff located it and ensured it was returned to me It was tiny and they took the time to search the room I will definitely stay here again on my trips up and down 91 The location is clean and comfortable and extremely convenient to the highway Grateful to have discovered this nice place to stay

Deborah Shane

I normally love Marriott products, but this place was not very nice The parking is around the sides so when you arrive (very tired and late) you have to walk quite a long way to get to the front door When I got lost and was in one building, it smelled like dirty socks

I finally made it to my correct room in the correct building, and everything was fine until about midnight when the shower started dripping on the metal grate and making pinging noises I was not about to change my room at that point The dripping went on for about a minute every two hours So annoying! The guy at the front desk was super nice about it when I told him as I checked out

Craig Knowles

Got to the hotel and front desk was very helpful with them double checking our room for feathers which went well and getting extra towels to the room Got into the room after dinner neither of the outlets worked in the bathroom for hairdryers etc Went to turn on the television and the cable boxed was unplugged so had yo move the dresser to plug that in

The room is a good size for 4 people and has a mini fridge microwave The toilet was a little loud and no fan in the bathroom

This hotel exceeded all expectations for my small weekend trip to New Haven The hotel is small, but feels cozy and not cramped Everyone who worked at the hotel was incredibly nice to us and even apologized for there not being valet parking (I can certainly park my own car myself)

The room was very upscale and felt clean and cozy I would certainly recommend as it is also super close to everything in that main street

Carrie Watts

Very good location if visiting the University or museums Rooms are clean, staff is friendly (even if you arrive at 3am because your flight is delayed) Agree with other posts- parking at $37 a day is atrocious

Pedestal sink with no counter space is silly And the room has no fridge or microwave- so only book here if being in walking distance to Yale and restaurants is your top priority

Suzanne Slade

The Study has always been a “home away from home” for our family With impeccable service, fully equipped, comfortable and clean, inviting rooms, we have always loved staying there I will always be grateful to them for their incredible kindness, warmth and thoughtfulness several weeks ago when we all stayed there for our mother’s funeral

Thank you to everyone there for providing so much comfort and refuge to us during that difficult time We Will appreciate it always

Love that they let me check in early (11am) at no charge! There was an Internet network issue on the day we stayed at the property (which I assume is a one off event) but besides that, no hiccups Helpful staff, spacious room (we had 2-queen beds) and great access to Yale and downtown New HavenOne recommendation would be to have complimentary water bottles to welcome guests, in addition to the water cooler at the reception (helpful for guests on the go)

Otherwise, highly recommend!

5 stars for an odd numbered room and 2 stars for an even numbered room Two day stay, first night was an even numbered room in the front of the building and didn’t get one second of sleep There were constant motor cycles screaming up and down the road right in front of the hotel

Stopping at the light and revving up their engines This happened over and over again It was as if the window was open We asked to switch rooms to the back of the building in which we had zero issues I’ve stayed in many hotels in my life all over the place and this hotel really NEEDS TO SOUND PROOF THEIR hotel, especially in the front I’ve stayed at airports, on highways, even at ocean beach San Diego at the end of the runway and I got more sleep there than this hotelThe positives? Great staff and bar area was open until 10 Great for hanging out Walking distance to Yale University, shops, and lots of nice restaurants Worth it if you have an odd numbered room or stayed in the back of the building

Keisha’s World

Excellent choice for a stay in the downtown New Haven area They have a restaurant and bar The gym is open 24 hours

They offer a variety of snacks and food to warm up in the microwave in the lobby The staff are very friendly and it is super clean They have a upper and lower parking garage They offer free high speed internet and the location in conveniently located directly across from a gas station They’re are several options for dining whether you need a quick bite or an upscale experience

A truly wonderful place to stay The rooms and hotel are decorated in a way that excites and stimulates imagination of history and elegance The lobby is a peaceful and intriguing place to study or hangout

With people congregating throughout the day around the Pointdexter coffee shop and the many nooks and rooms to lounge in, It creates a really nice vibe The staff was more than a pleasure to engage with and the convenient and cozy Old Spielberg bar on the basement level is a perfect after dinner stop to grab a few drinks before returning to your comfortable and clean room The location is perfect, in the heart of the city with everything you would like just minutes away either by foot or car The rooms are complete with responsive thermostat temperature control and an easy to use television system with ample channels The gorgeous, tastefully renovated and clean bathrooms are complete with pleasant toiletries and good water pressure I will be visiting again soon!

The hotel is good, but for the price it falls way short of the experience you would expect The front desk is operated by very young people who don’t appear to be trained in the service or hotel industry They’re not particularly knowledgeable of the area

The hotel itself has no parking; beware of the parking garage the front desk recommends because it’s not a 24 garage I couldn’t access my car for an early morning flightThe rooms are nice and well kept

We loved this nostalgic hotel “the old Duncan Hotel” The Graduate is beautiful inside and took us back in time with its elegant ambiance You expect to see the bell hop waiting at the elevator to take your luggage

We stayed on the second floor and our room was so quiet and the bed was very comfortable Check-in desk staff is very nice Only problem we experienced was parking in the garage they recommend Would have appreciated being warned that if you return late at night parking garage is locked up and you can’t get in Keeps your car safe but knowing this would have saved us an inconvenience We were visiting from Texas for relatives 80th birthday and we’re unaware of parking garages locking up at night Would enjoy staying in this hotel again though

Staff was nice Breakfast was good The rooms were huge

Furniture needed a little updating but was still really nice Some stains on the carpet Overall had a good experience I’d recommend taking your breakfast to your room though Finding a table for breakfast was like trying to get a life boat on the Titanic Not enough tables for even half the amount of rooms there

We stayed here for one evening when attending a concert out of state Making a reservation was easy, prices were affordable, the staff was courteous & helpful Overall, we were quite impressed

The rooms are comfortable & clean They have a restaurant inside & food can be brought to your room The front desk staff were friendly & informative We’ll be staying here again the next time we attend a concert in the area

We were not completely happy with our stay at the Hyatt Place There was no daily room service to replace our towels and no one even asked if we wanted some clean ones The air was also heavily perfumed in the lobby and hallways which was sometimes overbearing in its smell

We also were not impressed with the breakfast which was mostly boring with tasteless eggs and sausage I never tried the bacon which was over cooked and there were no pastries The coffee urns were almost always empty too even though I was at breakfast fairly earlyWe skipped the hotel breakfast on the morning we left and found a restaurant that served decent foodOn the positive side the room was larger than our typical hotel room with plenty of storage space, a comfortable bed, nice bathroom and a TV that featured an online channel guide We also had a nice view over the estuary at the rear of the hotel

Very nice and friendly New Haven hotel close to everything Attended a Yale conference here and also stayed at the hotel Room was comfortable with nice views

Staff was friendly and helpful I do note that the parking garage filled up and that was an issue for a colleague arriving with mobility issues – though with coaxing they accommodated but that should have not been so difficult
