I am beyond upset with this property I recommended this location to several of my siblings who were traveling to the North Liberty area for our baby sister’s funeral – already a difficult time for all of us I specifically recommended it because family had stayed there in the past and had a lovely experience

I don’t know what has changed, maybe the owners, but “hospitality” is not part of their service When my family realized that the pool was closed for a few days (after they were checked in), which was one of the main reasons they chose this hotel for their kids, AND that their room smelled like smoke, they took their concerns to the front desk Staff there not only didn’t apologize, they attempted to make this my sibling’s mistake They offered no apology, refused to provide them with a clean room, and told them that they were welcome to leave, but if they did they would not be given a refund To be fair, they offered them a “discount” – hardly a remedy for how they now feel about this hotelDuring a difficult time like this, I would hope my family would be welcomed and provided all types of hospitality in my own community I will certainly never recommend this location to our many visitors in the future Given all the wonderful hotels in this area, I’m grateful there are other places we can have them stay with better experiences

Nicole P

Easy to find Room was mostly clean (the middle of the couch had a mystery stain so we avoided sitting on that!), bed was comfortable Road noise is extremely loud- been in dozens of hotels right off highways but this one was the worst for traffic noise

Breakfast was not good at all Coffee was horrendous Just stayed one night on a trip farther south so was fine to get some rest At least rest for my husband who can sleep thru anything I did not sleep- if you’re a light sleeper like me ask to be as far away from the road as possible Oh and there’s nothing for food within walking distance but the city is easy to navigate Pool was open but we didn’t use it Front desk fast checking in and out

Mike Jesse

This hotel advertises a pool, however, due apparently to a paperwork issue of their own failing, they cannot use said pool When guests learn of this deception, and request a refund to go stay elsewhere within minutes of checking in, they get incredibly rude and refuse to acknowledge or take accountability for their shortcoming, and refuse to issue a refund and remove the reservation Fortunately, only one person of our party had checked in before this issue was discovered

DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS DISHONEST BUSINESS And if you do, don’t be surprised when they take advantage of you once they have your card information

Awesome experience staying at The Element! It was my first time ever with them and it seems to be a great hotel Loved the breakfast being free and freshly prepared right in front of you They also have free bikes to ride around

Coffee 24×7 along with the flavours kept at the reception Rooms are nice and newer Not to forget the Wine and Dine from 5:30-7pm, Monday to Thursday Enjoyed every bit of my stay here My shower didn’t have enough pressure, but considering all other aspects, I would still rate it 5 stars Do stay without a doubt

Sarah Aylward

First, the parking lot situation isn’t ideal It’s a public parking lot and it’s a bit confusing finding the right elevator, entrance and way to the lobby They need to improve their way-finding signage

Second, the room I saw online was much larger than the room I got Added to that, there weren’t currents, just semi-translucent blinds that let in way too much light, even at night The room looked over a courtyard where the condo building next door was having a party, so I wasn’t able to get much-needed rest until after midnight Then, the people staying upstairs returned to their room and paced LOUDLY for hours above my head until about 3 am and woke up again around 7 am I cannot believe I paid as much as I did to get even less sleep This place is over-priced, not yet complete construction-wise, and poorly designed I highly recommend going to the Springhill Suites by Marriott instead

Erica Keel

We were passing through and needed a pet friendly hotel It was really affordable, and only a $50 pet feeNice location in downtown

Starbucks right across the street The room had engineered hardwood floor in the entry and bathroom, which I love, and carpet where the bed was Kitchenette in roomBed was really comfy Room was clean Check in was easy Hotel has nice amenities-happy hour M-Th, free breakfast, gym, pool & a rooftop bar, which wasn’t opened in November but would be nice in warm weatherFor letting the dogs go to the bathroom, there’s a grassy area at the building across the street, which was handyWe would definitely stay here again!

My daughter loves that you can swim from inside to the outdoor part of pool without getting out The hot tub is a nice size, has steps and handrail , also I seen they have the powered lift for the pool Nice gym

The 5pm social hour there is variety of just enough food we ate it as our supper 3 free mixed drinks per day per adult, free pop Breakfast has improved again since the beginning of COVID, back to hot food Bedding there is amazing, compared to many other hotels Shower has dispensers for shampoo, conditioner and body wash which is nice Front desk polite

I needed a hotel during my husband’s hospital stay The place fit my needs perfectly Clean, safe and easy to get to

After a long day it was wonderful to get a evening meal without having to drive all over The staff were extra helpful, kind and considerate The room was clean and the bed very comfortable Yes I will be recommending the Drury Inn

Sparky Grunewald

I am a regular guest at number of Drury locations I have never been disappointed Recently, at the Iowa City location, I arrived just after the evening buffet had closed

I walked into the dining area to ask if there was any food available The staff assembled a nice meal for me which I appreciated very much My room was very impressive and the mattress may have been the most comfortable that I had experienced in years! I will definitely stay here again if I’m in the area

Horrific Here now and 10/10 do not recommend You can hear everything through the walls

The manager is in the hallway at 2 am yelling talking to another guest who has a complaint No full tp was in the bathroom 2 nearly totally used rolls left Ad on Expedia says kitchen with stovetop No stovetop at all We drove 7 hours and everything is sold out for a ball tournament or we would leave NOW I am writing this at 2 am Avoid Avoid

Shea McCuen

First room giving to me was in the middle of being cleaned Went down to front desk and employee went to go check on which rooms were being cleaned After a little over 10 minutes he came back down and gave me a new room

Took the family up to our new room and it was in the middle of being cleaned, the front desk employee told me it was just being wiped down At this point we were completely frustrated and decided to just drive home

We stayed here for three nights in the 2 bedroom/2 bath suite It was perfect for our family of 4 The staff was all very sweet and friendly

Breakfast was good especially the biscuits and gravy Wednesday night social hour was nice, they offered hot dogs, chili, fresh garden salad, chips and cookies Also beer and wine was a nice surprise After a day out and having a huge lunch, this was all we needed for supper Pool and hot tube are small but was perfect for our boys (7 and 11) even with two other families in the pool area there was plenty of room for everyone to enjoy If we are ever in the area again we will definitely choose to stay again

Daniel

Phenomenal service Kind employees that will go out of the way to help you The GM is engaged and it is obvious she loves her job

Clean rooms, great breakfast and excellent happy hour with appetizers I frequently use the gym and it is always clean and has enough equipment I travel to Iowa City frequently for work and this is the best place to stay in the region Highly recommend!!

Ja Chooz

It was really a nice day I have to say that the staff was super friendly and they gave us everything that we needed The location was great

There’s an outdoor mall with a ton of restaurants and specialty shops just outside the front door It’s walking distance from an antique car museum My only complaint is that we had what was considered a one bedroom handicapped accessible suite and it was on the small side The kitchen was nice It had a full size refrigerator and dishwasher A two burner stove with pots and pans and dishes and even a toaster A kitchen table that stuck out from the wall and then the entrance to the living room area had a big armchair just A short distance from the table which was impossible to get my wheelchair through The room with the two beds was impossibly small I could not use my wheelchair in there but the bathroom was big and had a nice removable handicap seat for the shower The pillows were too soft They started out fluffy but ended up pretty flat I had to send my husband to the store for a firmer pillow because they did not have that option Other than that we were very happy The room was neat and clean I would definitely recommend and stay there again

Sandi Wilson

After a very long day, I arrived to find a clean, bright room with the lights on to greet me! It seemed like it had new carpet, fresh white paint, and new furniture The bed was comfortable too I stayed for 4 days while attending a class which lasted 9 hours each day, so very much appreciated coming back to a quiet, clean room each evening

Another thing I enjoyed was the full sized Mr Coffee coffee maker & Folgers coffee in my room instead of the cheaper coffee hotels usually offer The staff was friendly and helpful as wellThe only thing I think people need to be aware of is that there isn’t an elevator It was not a problem for me to climb stairs, but if that would be a concern, be sure to request a room on the first floorI will definitely stay there again next year when I take another class!

Stemming from a random Google search “hotels with a kitchen” we found this place what a hidden gemwere from Chicago and we were looking for something just far enough away and a weekend to put our phones down and enjoy each others company

the 2 sketchy things about this place is1 that it’s on the way far side of towndont let that fool you plenty of shopping restaurants and very clean area2 borders an airportwe didn’t hear 1 planewe took a leap and got here after a 35 hour drivestaff was super friendly, lobby was clean and when we got to our room that was also very cleanmy only suggestion to the owner of the property would be a larger TV in the living roomthis place is seriously great for a weekend getaway and has a nice kitchen for making food with your special someone10/10 I couldn’t be happier we will be back(photo was taken as we were Leaving)and ps the whirlpool was awesome and super relaxing

Pique Labala

Nicely remodeled but expensive place to stay First time I’ve ever paid to park at a hotel and at $14/day it’s very pricey and the parking lot was confusing and several of our families had issues with the exit There is also no complimentary breakfast and at $9 for cereal and toast it was worth the short drive to eat at Village Inn

We were walking distance from the university pool and that was nice but I think I would prefer a less expensive hotel with complimentary parking and breakfast and only pay the $5/day to park at the pool When we checked in we asked for a late check out and we were told that’s no problem but housekeeping was knocking at 11 and when I told her we had a late check out she was frustrated and said that was the third room that had a late check out but the front desk didn’t bother to inform housekeeping We had a nice stay but there wasn’t anything special about this hotel to make it worth the additional expense I think we will choose a less expensive option when we return to Iowa city

First time staying there, but won’t be my last The well furnished room was well decorated with Iowa themed decor The bed was comfy and the bathroom was updated

My only complaint was that I set the AC at 69, but the temp never got below 73 in the room Granted, it was 98 degrees outside that day, so likely the AC couldn’t keep up The lobby is open and inviting to guests to hang out, and play games Would love to have some sort of rewards program for frequent stays

YEJUN BAE

Unique interior design with full of Hawkeye I enjoy old-school like atmospheres Room was clean and well organized

Staff are friendly and helpful The location is the best part of this hotel that I can easily access restaurants and school buildings The shower needs to be improved that after taking a shower, water goes everywhere around the bathroom floor

Lis F

The first room we were given was full of trash I’m not sure if they accidentally gave us a room someone was still staying in or it hadn’t been cleaned yet, but I’ve never had that happen before The staff was very apologetic and gave us a new room

I’ve never been to a Graduate hotel before The decor is very unique and fun, but I was suprised this hotel was rated 4 stars as the facility/rooms are a bit outdated The attached coffee shop was good The location was very convenient for shopping The room had a mini fridge but no microwave And you have to park in the public garage next door ($14/day or $1/hr) & walk over There are no carts so you have to carry all your stuff

I have stayed here a couple of times and we always have a great stay! The rooms are very nice, with minimal decoration which I prefer We always request a high room facing west because the sunset over downtown Iowa City is beautiful! The very first time I stayed there I had a few friends over and we were sitting on the balcony for a lot of the night When one of my friends came out and shut the door behind him, something must of broke because the door handle fell off and we were stuck outside! We immediately called the front desk (mind you this is at like 2 or 3 am) and they came right away to let us back in! We had a good laugh about it, they reminded us make sure we were quiet so we didn’t disturb the neighbors, and we all went on our way! The staff was great!

Jordan S

Booked a suite and regular room 2 months prior to check-in Asked for rooms on same floorWe received confirmation

Called morning of to verify above and received confirmation At check-in we were told rooms not on the same floor and there was nothing else they could do Front desk clerk not very interested either Pointless Regular room was nice Suite was very dark and needed a better layout Breakfast is held in a bowling alley which can be loud Location to downtown great Hotel just needs a personal talk from Hilton

Stephen H (Vlad)

For a brand new hotel it’s missing a lot of the amenities that make new Hilton hotels fabulous The gym is mediocre (the other tapestry hotel I stayed at on this trip had more/nicer treadmills and a Peloton, but Chauncey gym was standard old hotel gym stuff), the outdoor patio/courtyard exists, but they haven’t done anything with it to make it appealing, no business center, etcThe rooms are large and spacious, and the breakfast arrangement with the bowling alley in the building is really good, but I’d stay elsewhere to have a nicer gym and other amenities

The pictures are way better than it actually is The bed in our room had deep imprints that you could see where 2 bodies laid The pillows had absolutely no support

In the shower there was a little mold in the ceiling and part of the wall behind the toilet was broken and peeling up The hot tub was not working but the pool was warm The front desk staff was super nice Over all it was just a little too run down for me and needs lots of updates I paid around $100 and there were nicer hotels for the same price Breakfast was just ok and a bit of a walk and a little difficult to find

Cindy Niemier

I was a bit concerned after reading other recent reviews but was pleasantly surprised with the room We had a standard king room It was clean, comfortable and spacious

The restaurant was closed (on Sundays) but the front desk clerk said breakfast would be served in the morning I even did recon and searched it out the night before since we were staying because of a medical appointment the next morning and time would be of the essence To say it was poorly marked, as was virtually everything, is an understatement But I found it and headed that way at an ungodly hour the next morning Nothing No staff, no lighting, no signs indicating where to go We ended up next door at the Hilton where we were informed they’re “connected” and breakfast would be there for the day Apparently every Monday! I used to love to stay in hotels, but this is another reason, in addition to everything others have mentioned, why I do NOT!!!

Dee Diva

The pictures were very deceiving This chain used to be the IT hotel…this is no longer the case The staff was great and the initial views of the hotel were very nice but once you entered the room…

The bathroom barely fit one person I had to use the toilet with the door open, the shower was wedged behind the door and I found a used towel in the shower The bed was very bouncy on rails and the pillows were trash I have a stiff neck and I couldn’t bare to spend a second night at that place I was happy we had to leave early

Great clean rooms Had to walk in the door and call a phone number for the person to come to the front to take my reservation Paid $130

00 plus $2000 holding fee for 1 person for 1 night Holding fee is refundable on leaving Disappointed that the heavy curtains didn’t close completely!! Only one small trash can unlined in the bathroom Super small refrigerator They don’t have smoking rooms Does have a 24 hour gym Otherwise I would have given 5 stars

From the minute we walked into the hotel after a 9 hour drive we were greeted by the nicest staff George the general manager took care of everything we needed and was incredibly accommodating We travel often for work and most hotels don’t try to make a connection

George and the staff there are different and we will always go to that Fairfield Inn because of them 🙂

Robby Rosenfeld

This is the WORST Mariot I have EVER been to Their maid service is horrendous and the housekeeping manager is one of the most disrespectful women I have ever met I spent 10 minutes begging her to hand me fresh towels and toilet paper after her housekeepers skipped my room despite me confirming my room would be serviced today

She should not be allowed to work in house keeping and I would recommend living on the street before staying in this hotel

Staff was excellent all around; friendly reception desk staff, and breakfast attendant worked with my request easily and asked if I had time to wait for her to make it rather than making me feel like I was imposing (oatmeal was out near the end of their serving hours and she made more for me) Good location near hwy 80 and lots of local restaurants and a walking trail across the street (behind the hotel) Rooms were clean and was great for getting computer work done

And I didn’t feel unsafe at the location

Cindy Van Den Top

The staff is super friendly and helpful but the hotel needs work It looks like they’ve started updating Our room had recently been painted and the corridor had new carpet, wallpaper and lights

The doors need to be replaced Our latch didn’t work well at all which made it difficult to open and close Doors to outside were also left unlocked or propped open Furniture in the room also needed replacement We probably wouldn’t stay here again

Sarah Hubert

The location was nice and it has potential to be a great place to stay but the property inside and out was dirty Cigarette butts everywhere outside on the patio area The pool was closed but we were able to use a sister property’s pool

Someone was smoking weed in their room and the whole 4th floor hall smelled of skunked weed The breakfast left a lot to be desired too Who serves scrambled egg whites?!

We took a midweek break and spent a Wednesday night at the Highlander, it was the perfect combination of fun and relaxation! Our poolside room was inviting and the high top table right outside the room was great to enjoy the vibe of the pool area The drinks were top notch and the menu was great for sharing – street tacos, sliders and pizzas The Boom Boom Chicken sliders were so good, we ordered a second plate! A late night soak in the hot tub followed by listening to albums on a record player in our room made for a memorable night! Thank you Highlander for such a wonderful experience!

Susan Roeder

This is the best hotel in Iowa City by far Absolutely loved the pool and the rooms were clean and very stylish The free breakfast during the week is very slim

Would be nice to include danish (There is a wonderful French danish shop in town that everyone loves called Deluxe) and wish there was a “potato” option such as French fries ,etc on their menu for the kids Staff was simply awesome No complaints whatsoever Great job in remodeling this hotel!!!

Andrew Elder

Staff was friendly and accommodating They seemed genuinely interested in making sure you had a great stay and had what you needed Decor was really cool and unique

Pool area and courtyard were amazing Free snacks and coffee around the clock The mattress and pillows were unbelievably comfortable for what you normally get in a hotel PLUS very dog friendly! This will be our go to place when visiting Iowa City from now on

Close to everything – food, hospitals, stores, entertainment They have a complimentary shuttle that takes you to the different hospitals and regional airport nearby They have a decent complimentary breakfast; however, we thought the eggs were over salted

The inside of the hotel has been renovated and is nice I was worried that “renovated” meant a new paint job but that’s not the case – don’t let the outside of the building fool you Room was well maintained and comfortable Staff was really friendly and attentive I would recommend this hotel to family and friends and would stay again

We made our reservation online, arrived after a comedy of errors type of day Clean comfortable room, huge jacuzzi tub, spacious bathroom I encountered the family next to us who had rowdy teens, we absolutely did not hear them from inside our room

Breakfast was fast, varied, and tasty The pool was the perfect temp Definitely the getaway we needed!

This place was absolutely great! Not only was it extremely clean, it had a decent cable line up From desk was nice, very helpful And here’s the thing it was so much lower priced than the other hotels that didn’t even have decent ratings

We we’re only going to stay one night, but the motel was so clean, and price was so reasonable we decided to stay a second night and see some sites in Winterset Iowa I’d definitely recommend this place to stay! On a scale of 1-10 it’s definitely a 10 in my book! And just a side note: the breakfast was actually nice! Jerry & Kristy

Such a good experience! The manager was great! We received bottles of wine and chocolate for our anniversary! The associate who checked us in and out was also great Very funny and personable Room was big and very clean! Great temperature and water pressure in showers

The pool was nice and warm temperature too They were in the middle of a remodel so I’m excited to come back and see it when it’s done Breakfast was so good Best ive had at any hotel Ive stayed at Can’t wait to come back Really just a wonderful experience They even agreed to let us check out a bit earlier Thanks!

Great stay Staff all very friendly Appearance is remodeled but not complete

This is the reason for the 4 stars Not the fact of the remodel but rather the unfinished room we were in It was beautifully appointed but all the closet items were thrown on the floor (iron board, iron, hangers, etc) no shelf and pole We had new automated blinds but they did not work They were rolled up and tied to stayOver all a great place but renovation should be completed before occupancy of rooms I’m sure when done it will be amazing Bonus is the great attached restaurant worth a visit

Molly Fry

The staff has been friendly and helpful I like the restaurant attatched, and the decor in the room is updated My complaints are that there is no closet to hang my clothes up, and the room has a musty smell that hits me in the face when I walk in the room

I only haven’t changed rooms because i don’t feel like packing all my stuff and hauling it to another room that may or may not also smell

And the complimentary wifi is FAST!!! I will never want to book less quality again This place is the place to beat!! And thank you for treating our service dog with respect and the assistance setting up the room!

Definitely the best Hilton property we stayed at during our trip This is what you would expect from a Hilton property The staff was great, the facilities were well maintained, the bar and restaurant were definitely better than the other two Hilton Gardens we stayed at, by far

The staff were top notch I would say probably too 5 hotels I have ever stayed in, and I have traveled around the world and stayed many different places The place to stay if you are traveling through, or staying for a bit

Great room Very clean throughout entire hotel Bed was so comfortable and the family slept well

They have a happy hour and served a few complimentary snacks They also have an area that has items you can buy They’re pricey but available if needed Breakfast was fantastic They had hot and cold breakfast A large variety to choose from The only thing was the pool is a bit small and many kids were swimming, diving, jumping, and doing back flips Adults were in there with alcohol and not watching their kids Not hotels fault but should have a sign for no alcohol in pool area Kids jumping and splashing water to the pool walk way had other kids falling just from walking Told the staff but nothing was done about it Everything else was amazing Worth the stay Will be back

We recently stayed at the Springhill Suites in Coralville It is a very nice hotel that is centrally located to other larger towns in the area The hotel has several amenities and our room was spacious and very clean

Every staff member that we encountered was very friendly and willing to help with any request The breakfast provided every morning was delicious and hats off to the staff who maintained it – when we were there, there were several families and at least one baseball team and their families and the staff kept the breakfast area well stocked The hotel is centrally located to several tourist attractions in the area and it was near the shopping mall We really enjoyed our stay and would stay again

Nice hotel Room was clean but had a slight oder to it, nothing so bad though that some plug-ins didn’t fix The room had a kitchen sink, full size refrigerator, small dishwasher, and small stove top, which was very nice

Save some money so you don’t have to eat out everyday Staff was very friendly and helpful I would recommend staying here!

Curtis Schmitt

Room was very clean but hotel is not as clean (I could see a film of dust on common area furniture, lots of paint chips, scratches and chips in the walls, etc) Also, the low rates attract a certain element

If you can afford to stay elsewhere, I’d recommend it Can’t argue with the value though, if you just need a relatively clean place to stay for under $100 For that, this is probably your best bet in the area
