I don’t understand the bad reviews I think you either gotta be either real nit picky, silver spoon fed, or just miserable You can’t please everybody

I had a great nights sleep The mattress is more firm but I love that They don’t have a fridge or microwave but no big deal The bathroom is a little tight but clean and manageable Overall my wife and I had no issues, we’re satisfied, and will return Overall great value

Tim Farnham

So we held a conference here for miniature games It was nice and clean The staff was very polite and helpful

I ordered my food from the hotel and it was wrong it was missing the bacon on the bacon burger Rather then give me bacon they remade my whole order Which was great hot and fresh The price was $15 for fries and a burger A little high but it always is from the hotel kitchen The only outrageous price was the cans of soda at 250 a can All in all it was a good location to hold this event I did not stay at the hotel myself as I live 20 minutes away so need to

Ramez Ghazzaoui

The hotel is barely 3-star Overall nice, not an ugly hotel by any measure, but too dark and not welcoming Not attractive

My floor’s corridor and my room constantly smelled like someone had smoked there (mix of pot and tobacco) The bedsheets are clean, housekeeping is effective and well-executed The nightly rate is competitive for this area of Michigan, which makes this hotel a good choice

t was fantastic for what we needed and the we paid Hotel seemed new or newly renovated Our room and bathroom were super clean

even in the corners kind of clean A/C worked perfectly as we like to adjust it nice and cold We had everything we needed in our room Lobby was very nice and the staff were super friendly Lots of parking and it was nice to see the car from our window My only complaint would have been that the pillows were too high/full but that’s a personal preference Definitely will stay here again when traveling this way

Carl Thompson

The location was very convenient and the facility itself quite nice The staff were excellent and very helpful Our room was not as clean as it could have been and though scheduled to be here two nights we moved after one because of loud arguments both in a close by room and in the parking lot outside which went on through much of the night making sleep not easy

Nathan Lafountain

Room was big and clean, staff was all very nice My only suggestion is that since the rooms aren’t serviced every day (which I understand, and I know is a common practice these days) the front desk should have coffee packets available They were out all 6 days I asked for some

The housekeepers in the hallway always hooked me up though! Overall, I enjoyed my stay very much

Not a good experience at all First room had a hair tie on the restroom floor, corners of the restroom has a lot of dirt in them, pillow case has stains on them and there was other debris on the floor through out the room Clearly this room was not cleaned prior to use going to it

We were given another room only to find the same thing The bathroom had toothpaste on the wall near the sink the back of the entrance door looked like it had not been cleaned in a long time, the window looking out looked like it had not been cleaned since the hotel opened My wife attempted to make tea but the brown clumps and dirty water that came out of the pot was disgusting I try to not leave negative reviews but this needed to be shared For the price we paid, I was not happy at all with the level of cleanliness in this hotel I will say the people at the front desk were very nice and the lady that waited on us in the restaurant was great For the price this was a complete rip off, not to mention the breakfast was $18 and about the same thing we usually get for free at other hotels Sorry Marriot tried, but will not be back

OMG, where do I start

This hotel and staff are absolutely amazing Upon first walking in I was a little worried Out initial greeting was not the best but that was all We were here for 12 days The GM Ms Joanna, Ms Sasha, Matt and others in restaurant, the front desk staff as well as house keeping All of the lovely individuals working at the hotel made our stay that much better We did not have one need that went unmet Most times staff went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed Whenever in town this will definitely be our go to hotel Thanks IHG family

jessica bradley

The pool was so dirty that when I complained they had to close the pool No one knew who was responsible for cleaning the pool Uncleanly

No manager on site to assist with anything Even the staff member at the desk said she wouldn’t stay there It was so bad that I checked out right after checking in rather than sleeping there I WAS NOT refunded! I will not be staying at a Holiday Inn again Such a terrible experience! DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY!

Rebecca Theis

This place was okay overall Rooms were mostly clean Staff was friendly and accommodating

There is an indoor salt pool but it was freezing Uncomfortably too frigid to even enjoy The shampoo, conditioner and body wash that was in the shower smelled amazing It was tea tree oil The TV signal was analog and very poor No cable It was an antenna The breakfast was good but it’s not technically free, they charge you in your room cost The fruit was frozen and tasted fermented Free water and coffee The floors/ceilings are paper thin I heard every step the people above us took and every time they let their door slam It disturbed my sleep quite a bit with no TV sound to drowned it out

Danny Messinger

When we checked in, the wall-mounted soap dispenser in our room was on the floor of the tub We called the front desk to alert them and they offered to move us to a new room or fix it tomorrow We said no big deal, they can fix it tomorrow

We were gone all of the next day and got back to our room at 9 pm to find it had not been fixed Someone aggressively pounded on our door at 10:45 pm, as we were falling asleep, despite having our do not disturb sign up He was shouting “engineering” and said he was there to fix the soap We said no thanks—at this point they could fix it when we checked outBreakfast was an up-charge but we had already prepaid for it On day one, one of our breakfast sandwiches had a large piece of wax paper cooked into the cheese inside it On day two, they were out of one of the five menu items they offeredLocation was convenient for our visit, but would not recommend to others

Richard Merrill

I stayed at this hotel for 10 nights The staff was so friendly and helpful There were two changes (both my fault) to my plans and they were able to accommodate me perfectly

I needed some special assistance since I became ill during my stay and they were great! The General Manager was kind and friendly as was sweet Lindsey from New Bedford, MA! I wish I knew the gentleman’s name who personally helped me so I could also mention him hereI liked my room It was clean, modern and comfortable

Sally Castillo

It was just okay

not bad but not outstanding either Alot noise in the hallway from workers stayingwe were workers too but had enough sense to not be fighting and arguing in the hallway No grab n go breakfast as advertised I’m not sure what they expect a worker to do with a bag of oatmeal on the go The kitchen was convenient the 2 burner stove was questionable very hard to regulate They provide most of the utensils I had my own At a $100+ a night probably will find something else next work trip

Angel Wright

Our room was a king bed with sofa bed, there was 3 of us, so we did plan to use the sofa bed It was not up to par, let’s say easily from the 80’s, springs showing and all Very, very uncomfortable

Went to the front desk to ask for blankets and sheets and I was told they had no clean blankets 😒 The outdoor pool was a perk for us and found out when we arrived that it was closed Our room smelled heavily of paint and the hallway, well you see the pictures We did get a packaged breakfast but I would stay away from the apple juice and orange juice dispencers If you look close you will see mold around the nozzles Needless to say we will not be visiting this place again

Craig

This was one of the nicest hotels I have visited in a long time Glass elevator rooms that are up to date with great amenities A pool, workout room, brunch style breakfast in the morning where they have a chef making omelets custom however you want them

The layout was very unique, all floors could be seen from the main level and from the room you can walk out and view the entire first floor Nice bar and restaurant as well The staff does an excellent job accommodating the needs of guest

Alex Eddy

The hotel was really cool The elevators was a bit under maintained And my room and a couple of others room I walked into weren’t very detailed clean

Still hair in the shower and dirty streaks on the shower door and drainstill used soap in there The carpet wasn’t swept very welltook my boots off and socks and it was like walking on crumbs The tables still had cup marks on them and there was layers of dust on the TV stand and end tables by bed This wasn’t just one room This was five different rooms from level 8 to level 4 Detailed Cleaning would go a long wayStaff was super helpful and FriendlyAlso the rooms had a very musky smell to them almost like damp basement smell TV in the bedroom said would turn on but had zero TV TV In the couch area had channels UT the screen was very blurryNice hotel but for as nice as it comes off to be could be alot cleaner and smell a bit better in the roomsI’d give it 5 stars if it was cleanerHad food it was lasagna it was still frozen in the middle Had a sweet little older lady greeting and picking up our plates” ALL BY HERSELF “! with a full dining room while others young men were on their phones I mentioned it to the young men and they just blew me off Not very respectful to there older lady Co worker That lady I didn’t catch her name wish I didbut she was working her butt off with an amazing attitude I let those other lazy boys go and hire 3 of herThose few things change the next time we stay there and I’ll give it a better review Guess we’ll see if customers advice and reviews matter

Embassy Suites is normally my favorite hotel but this trip is quite disappointing We paid for an expensive room that was marketed as nicer than it was Not a huge deal, its still a fine room, but there’s more issues

Our first room was a mess… when we entered all the drawers were open, the microwave was open and had pieces missing, there were glass cups everywhere on the floor, it was ridiculous So we switched rooms to the same type of room on a new floor This room was much better, but there were some random issues like the toilet paper holder being broken and the shower door handle being extremely loose Then, when we were preparing the sofa bed, there were no sheets because instead of being washed and put away for us to put on the bed, they were never taken off from the previous use and the top sheet was stuffed under the coach cushions The dirty sheet was also visibly dirty, like stains all over kind of dirty, it was gross Also, the blanket that goes with it had some stains on it that had a crusty texture, even though it was in the plastic bag seemingly cleaned unlike the sheets (i guess it wasn’t cleaned though, at least not enough because it was gross) We got new sheets and a new blanket, but the new blanket had bleach stains all over it and had a towel-texture instead of a soft texture We stayed at a different Hilton hotel last night that was much cheaper and it was the same blanket except theirs was actually soft On top of that, general issues like the shower sucks (no shelves or ledges to set products on, no ledge to shave, etc) and the fact that on weekdays breakfast ends at 9am (10am on weekends), which is way too early 10am is okay but 9 is not reasonable Im just very disappointed with our stay and the staff was barely helpful It seems to be working out alright now but it was an extremely stressful first day and the room is not as good as it should be considering the very high price The lobby was also kind of a mess, I understand that they are doing construction so its not a big deal but still The biggest problem with the lobby was the elevators… this may just be my irrational fears but I did not like how one of the elevators was very squeaky and rattled as we went up and down I’m sure it’s still safe but it did not make me feel very secure, it could probabaly use some maintenance so that should have already happened…

I read several of the reviews prior to booking here and concerns about cleanliness and the hotel being dated The hotel itself is old, but everything I encountered was clean and appeared to be well taken care of The room itself was small and obviously old

But, the updates appear to have been applied and everything was good (and clean)What the reviews did not mention was that this location is right on the main highway going through town and it is very loud VERY LOUD It seems like one out of five cars/bikes traveling on the road were trying to outdo one another as to how loud the engine and/or exhaust could get Even in the room, with the TV volume up somewhat high, it was unbearable for most of the evening and night Thankfully, the noise subsided mostly, by 1 am Really difficult to tune-out the whirring sound (This is no fault of the hotel, but is still reality and definitely will affect your stay, at least on the weekend in warmer weather)Finally, the breakfast in this location is excellent I cannot recall the last time breakfast of this quality was provided at a Holiday Inn Express or similar venue This is the reason for 3 stars Otherwise 15

As I found a spot to park and join my friends to few drinks, saw the whole parking lot was almost full Took a nice walk around the hotel towards the restaurant The whole atmosphere is delightful, full of life and very enjoyable

We ordered cocktails and few sides dishes and to share Everything was delicious and very elegantly served Our server was super friendly and full of smiles too The crowd was flowing in and out, though not overly crowdedMy friends loved their cocktails which was great I liked my pomegranate martini but will try another martini another time Little on the sweeter end!The whole ambience was fantastic!

Been aware of this beautiful hotel for 20+ years but just had the first opportunity to stay there Our room with a balcony was so nice Lots of space, comfortable bed and an amazing bathroom (not the usual cramped space) with a walk in closet! Housekeeping was super attentive when we needed them

Restaurant staff was great the first visit, but the second visit sort of ruined the whole fantastic stay it was so bad Fitness center had weights and cardio And the location is perfect for walks to other restaurants and even the local farmer’s market on the weekend I’d recommend this hotel and stay again, but would probably skip the dining room

Amazing hotel! We travel a lot and nothing compares to the level of service this hotel provides Everyone was so nice and accommodating The cappuccino and coffee at the bar is amazing

The valet will put water and sanitizer in your car when you picked it up They offer free snacks and water in the “pantry” that is located on each floor The beds were very comfortable and the room was beautiful and very cleanA lot of time and thought went into making this hotel feel more like a home and we will be back whenever we are in town again!

Stacie Surette

The Daxton Hotel is a beautiful hotel with a gorgeous lobby and amazing rooms Myself and my husband went for the weekend and the hotel did not disappoint The valet were fast and efficient each time we needed our car and the concierge was top notch

BUT I was very disappointed in the housekeeping We were there for 2 nights, Friday night and Saturday night and housekeeping did not attend our room at any point on Saturday We were gone all day on Saturday, put the sign out to say we would be gone all day and upon our return at 10pm on Saturday night no housekeeping had attended our room For the price you pay for this hotel you should be getting housekeeping services BUT on Sunday morning at 10am there was a knock on the door and it was housekeeping asking if we would be checking out early because they wanted to start cleaning our room Check out was at 11am, not 10am If it wasn’t for these issues the hotel would have been amazing

The towels were larger than some of my blankets at home The gym was bigger than most, three treadmills and multiple other machines in there as well as weights and a stretching area I didn’t use any other amenities and didn’t eat on site One of the restaurants on site has a business casual dress code, which I was not prepared for Any staff I interacted with were friendly and helpful When I was there the elevator on my side was not working, which was fine by me because my room was right next to it The parking situation felt a little sketch being in the back of the hotel, but it’s Bloomfield Hills, so I wasn’t too worried As is true for most anywhere in that area, the pavement to the parking lot on both sides is trash, with extremely large potholes all over the place, so beware when driving The drive in the front was intact and smooth

I attended a beautiful wedding reception at the Townsend Hotel this weekend The venue was incredible, beautiful flowers, incredible food and drink, and service that was top notch The reason for my review, however, is the lengths the staff went to help me in a funny if not embarrassing incident

I realized that the underside of my shoe had come unglued, making walking quite awkward, and dancing of course, impossible I limped toward the main desk and Sean, the concierge, immediately took note of the problem and radioed his engineer, asking for adhesive Jay, the engineer, appeared with gorilla glue and proceeded to reassemble my shoe including pressing on it and blowing it dry All the while, both were attempting to make me feel less embarrassed and could not have been kinder Believe this or not but after an hour on the dance floor, my other shoe fell victim and once again the staff at the Townsend Hotel jumped to my rescue and repaired it as well Sean and Jay as well as the team at the desk could not have been kinder They helped me make light of the situation and insured that I could revisit the dance floor in no time and enjoy the spectacular wedding Thank you to the wonderful staff at the Townsend Hotel I will honestly never forget your kindness

This location isn’t convenient but it’s worth the experience I’m a Marriott kind of person but this hotel is an awesome hotelRooms seem sound proof, bellman were astoundingly amazing carrying my luggage with such care

The restaurant service is awesome I only at breakfast there The breakfast was typical but service made it taste greatI will stay here again

Beautiful hotel in the heart of Birmingham We loved being a short walk from restaurants whether it was a pastry for breakfast, a slice of pizza for lunch, or Bella Piatta for a great dinner across the street Our room was very comfortable but what stood out to me was the shower

Such a great shower! The only downside… as someone who likes to always have a glass of ice water nearby, I didn’t like having to request ice from the bellman

Our two night stay was quite enjoyable and a good value The location of the hotel is very nice and the desk staff were all professional and efficient Our room in the tower overlooked the courtyard and landscaping below

Beds were comfortable and the bathroom was small but clean Elevators were always available and quite fast The included breakfast in their restaurant was wonderful and the atmosphere was comfortable and not rushed Our server Dee was truly a professional treat!

djust

Room was mostly clean Sofa bed had old sheets from previous others, some hair in the shower It’s just okay, nothing spectacular

Staff was nice Bathrooms are on the hallway side really closely with thin walls You can hear literally everything happening outside in those bathroomsIt’s an okay hotel, but wouldn’t return Not much to really do here for the price but it’s clearly for professionals staying short term

Our son and daughter in law’s wedding reception was at the Somerset Inn on Saturday… it was SUPERB! My husband is blind so they hired a hostess to help him thru the buffet line and attend to his needs Like keeping him up on his ice water, sodas, coffee etc She was so sweet! She even took my 86 yr old Mom to the restroom

She also attended the Bridal party table and many others The food was excellent and the hotel rooms were spacious and lovely the cocktail hour before reception went well too We were thrilled with the entire weekend The hotel staff was very courteous and fun

I’ve stayed here twice now, each room has been unique & lovely! The renovations included keeping the original bathroom tile that elevates the vintage hotel experience I keep forgetting to take pics of the rooms before I check out, but the outside is a great indicator of the vibes this place gives off Staff are always very nice & accommodating, & your key (cards available but the remote app key is better) gets you discounts at a couple places

And you can’t beat walking distance from downtown Royal Oak 😎 will stay here any chance I can!

This place has the perfect vibe throughout !!! From the front lobby with free suckers in a huge bowl and an excellent selection of snacks to the community chill room with the arcade game Outside is a fantastic chill spot with fire pits, picnic tables and baggo/corn hole! The room was perfect! Clean and decorated awesomely fun! Bed was comfy! AC worked great! The staff was super friendly and professional ! Just genuinely nice people The place is very inviting and chill! Definitely going to be back for another long weekend! Absolutely recommend if you are looking for a relaxing atmosphere to stay while in Royal Oak !

This place completely changed my perception of Michigan! I had prior arrangements with multiple other hosts before but boyfriend found this place The area was amazing, the staff made us feel so welcomed and the rooms were comfortable, clean and the decor was cute All in all, this hotel and my stay is my reasoning for wanting to revisit Michigan

I think it’s safe to say this is where I’ll be looking for my hotel accommodations every time

Muniba Khan

The place was clean and the room was spacious Some of the amenities were lacking- for instance the breakfast was really disappointing and there wasn’t much I could eat of substance Also, the front desk didn’t tell me that I would need to request my room be cleaned a day in advance until I explicitly asked two days into my stay

I feel like that information should be given during check in The gym was nice, and overall had a good experience with the staff

Ellen Hoard

The rooms are quiet, clean, and well-designed Beds are comfortable We had a block of rooms for family and friends for a wedding

The breakfast is simple but adequate I have an all electric plug in car They provide J chargers (and Tesla chargers) free of charge to their guests There was some periodic confusion with the desk workers, but they were new, as with so many employees in this quasi-pandemic world

Melanie Watson

I can’t recommend this hotel The walls are SO thin that you can hear conversations that are held at a normal tone from other rooms Our room was not refreshed one time during our week long stay, and we only had one night of decent sleep because of how poorly constructed the building is

The rooms also are pricey for what you get I gave the place two stars because the staff was friendly and the continental breakfast was decent

Ghost

Not sure why this hotel has good reviewsI was really unimpressed with the rooms for the price, but my major gripes are:- Our party had two bed room even though our block asked for kings- Gave us rooms on different floors, even though we had a blockNo one was close to each other for our party, which was really annoyingMy other complaints are:- No soap our room, and no soap available from the people cleaning our rooms either! They said they were out

Had to use body wash instead- Elevator needs a key to work, and it’s unresponsive Super annoying, especially when you’re in it a lot because all your friend’s are on another floor- No fan in the bathroom so it’s damp- Absolutely terrible quality towels So scratchy- Outdated look and rooms, the lobby is the only nice areaThe free and ample parking is nice, but that’s it I would avoid staying here if you can

ShiningStar

The lobby decor is chic and the contemporary art work is nice The flowing water fountain is beautiful, people also seems to use it like a wishing well So go ahead and make a wish

The rooms are nice, the bed is soft and cozy and the front view was nice They offer a weight room for guests use, a swimming pool with a jacuzzi The jacuzzi was temporary closed

Awesome hotel! At first I wasn’t fond of the set up however the service and cleanliness made up for that! Sondra was a great help especially as I left my charger in my room and didn’t notice until returning home and I called and she found it and held it until I could get back to get it Thank you for doing that! Would stay here again! Very pleasant experience!

Our family stayed at Residence Inn Pontiac for 13 days in May 2022 while our daughter was attending the Euro-Therapies clinic across the street This was our fourth stay at the hotel and it was terrific The staff is, without exception, extremely kind and helpful

The customer service is impeccable Sondra was especially instrumental in making our stay so fantastic The facilities are clean and the rooms are very comfortable The kids had a fantastic time I cannot thank the staff enough for how our family was treated I would recommend this hotel to anyone
