Bottom line: clean, comfortable beds, in a good area with lots of restaurants nearbyWhat pushes it down to 3 stars is it’s a bit rough around the edges It’s clear that this hotel has been around a bit – and while the rooms appear to have received a facelift, the elevators will leave you wondering when you will become stranded

Overall I would recommend this location Just know that it’s a bit more dated than most Hyatt Places

I don’t understand the bad reviews I think you either gotta be either real nit picky, silver spoon fed, or just miserable You can’t please everybody

I had a great nights sleep The mattress is more firm but I love that They don’t have a fridge or microwave but no big deal The bathroom is a little tight but clean and manageable Overall my wife and I had no issues, we’re satisfied, and will return Overall great value

Tim Farnham

So we held a conference here for miniature games It was nice and clean The staff was very polite and helpful

I ordered my food from the hotel and it was wrong it was missing the bacon on the bacon burger Rather then give me bacon they remade my whole order Which was great hot and fresh The price was $15 for fries and a burger A little high but it always is from the hotel kitchen The only outrageous price was the cans of soda at 250 a can All in all it was a good location to hold this event I did not stay at the hotel myself as I live 20 minutes away so need to

Ramez Ghazzaoui

The hotel is barely 3-star Overall nice, not an ugly hotel by any measure, but too dark and not welcoming Not attractive

My floor’s corridor and my room constantly smelled like someone had smoked there (mix of pot and tobacco) The bedsheets are clean, housekeeping is effective and well-executed The nightly rate is competitive for this area of Michigan, which makes this hotel a good choice

Great hotel Perfect location Staff was very friendly

Large parking area We were there for a wedding and everything was wonderful We were able to use the shuttles to and from the wedding venue That was extremely nice and helpful Rooms are nice sized We had a king size room and it was plenty big for just 2 of us Water pressure was fantasticOnly downside is no free breakfast, but there is a breakfast buffet you can purchase We just went to a local restaurant Coffee is free and available around the clock We loved our stay

Teresa Goltermann

These rooms need updating The furniture is old, carpet needs cleaned, curtains old, our toilet seat had been touched up with paint Our door made the worst noise when opening and closing because it was too tight or swollen

I’m sure we woke everyone up as we left the room each morning No one vacuumed the hallway on main floor because the same sunflower seeds and debris were on the floor I’m shocked with the great reviews The cost of the room wasn’t worth it to me I was given my state rate, after I complained, otherwise I would not have stayed The staff were very friendly though, I definitely agree to that I would never stay here again

Nathan Germay

We stayed here for a soccer tournament The breakfast buffet that was included in our stay was very good They even had omelets to order for Mother’s Day

The rooms were clean and in good condition The shower could have been better

We had a great experience at Hyatt Place Detroit/Royal Oak when we stayed for our wedding weekend! Erica was so friendly and easy to work with when coordinating our wedding block Check in/out was fast and easy, and the reception staff was very kind and helpful The room was spacious and clean, and the bed was really comfortable

Great location for everything in the Detroit area The staff is outstanding and make you feel at home Chelsea will take care of you as she did with my reservation and you will just really enjoy this property

The food is great and if you’re staying in and working during the evening like I did the convenience is a real bonus The staff working the restaurant is so friendly and nice too, I only wish I could have thanked them before I left but had a very early flight I was attending a show at the Suburban Showcase Center, so this hotel was close and a very easy drive

I have never been so disrespected by a worker of the service industry in my entire life! This front desk lady who was by herself (in the mornings) pretty much the whole weekend during my stay in this hotelWe were there for a hockey tournament, the following morning I needed to talk to someone at the front desk which was unattended for almost 20 min so I decided to leave and call from my car

When I called, I was trying to explain the issue when I noticed she was getting very irritated to the point that she got very frustrated then she started yelling at me and just hung up on meI tried to call her back many times with no answerThe next morning I saw her again and I tried to talk to her in a calmed way to figure out why she reacted that way on the phoneThere she was again, with a extremely rude attitude, she interrupted me and put her hand close to my face to tell me:If you have any complaints just call the hotel manager!I don’t need to talk to you!I could not believe how disrespectful she wasI actually asked her why the attitude towards me? I told her that she was supposed to be a customer service oriented employee and I was a customer trying to solve and issueShe just stopped talking to me, not even looking at meWhen I asked for her name, she wouldn’t respond to meUntil I said to her, Can I please have your name? I need it since I will send a formal complaint to managementShe had the audacity to give me a fake name (Sara) I know this because when I explained the situation to a very nice lady at the front desk the following morning, she identified her and told me her real name was Stella She also shared that other 7 guests had complained about her that weekI am a business owner myself and to be fair, I would,ve given this hotel 4 stars because all the other employees I interacted with were very nice and helpful But it is the responsibility of the management to identify a rotten apple and do something about itWatch out management of Courtyard by MarriottYou have one there! Her name is Stella

Nicole Mink

OMG, where do I start

This hotel and staff are absolutely amazing Upon first walking in I was a little worried Out initial greeting was not the best but that was all We were here for 12 days The GM Ms Joanna, Ms Sasha, Matt and others in restaurant, the front desk staff as well as house keeping All of the lovely individuals working at the hotel made our stay that much better We did not have one need that went unmet Most times staff went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed Whenever in town this will definitely be our go to hotel Thanks IHG family

jessica bradley

The pool was so dirty that when I complained they had to close the pool No one knew who was responsible for cleaning the pool Uncleanly

No manager on site to assist with anything Even the staff member at the desk said she wouldn’t stay there It was so bad that I checked out right after checking in rather than sleeping there I WAS NOT refunded! I will not be staying at a Holiday Inn again Such a terrible experience! DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY!

Been here here for 3 days and literally have asked 4 times already for the room to be cleaned 1 once on the 1st day, twice on the 2nd and one more this morning Front desk personnel acknowledges, apologies but nothing happens

Do not recommend to anyone who likes their room cleaned and doesn’t want to to have to ask front desk for towels DAILY!

J Y

I did not stay the night I attended a conference on the 6th floor The upholstered bench by the elevator looked as tho someone was living on it, it was filthy

The room across from our conference room has dirty sheets on the floor that was there the whole time during our meeting The coffee in the lobby was lukewarm at best, and the 2 Coffee-Mate creamer containers were completely empty This was at 10:00am The decor was outdated The staff was friendly

S. C

My husband and I arrived late to the hotel ~1am

so we checked in and went to sleepsince we were expecting to leave and continue our drive the following dayThe following morning I noticed a dried up used towel in the bathroom with hair Of course I called the manager (Genetia Shields) She remedied by giving us breakfast coupons Which was fine, but as management I would want to know this information so that I can provide education to my staff What was disappointing was not only the dirty used towel but the managers response She told me that we don’t comp roomsI did not ask for a room “comp”what I needed was her understanding of the missThere are soft skills in the world of hospitality that Genetia missedher body language was dismissive, she rolled her eyes, her speech tone was harshand it was a terrible assumption she madeI replied that my goal was to share my experiences for possible education of housekeeping staff especially during these COVID timesNote to management: Your body language speaks louder than your words You are the customers advocate and you should support an experience that you can be proud Also take the time to listen avoid assumptions

Workout facility and pool area seem to be well-maintained and clean Rooms were able to accommodate our group and had satisfactory amenities however one recommendation…The room needs better ventilation Windows cannot be cracked and the bathroom fan was not working Overall, I would recommend this location and I plan on staying there in the future

Pool area was clean as well and so as the fitness center! 9/10 , only because I was looking forward to the fire pit being lit I’ll be back

As a travel agent you tend to do a bit of hotel hopping, and I was very pleased with this one as well Wishing I could have stayed a bit longer Loved my room with the balcony and sitting area

I wanted to venture out and sit in the common area around that fire place 😭😭 it looked so relaxing However, no worries I will get to it sooner rather than later Thank you

Changed hotel reservation to stay here after a terrible start at the Residence Inn down the street Dawn was fantastic and our stay was lovely No microwave in the room but told us she’d be happy to send one up if needed (we didn’t)

Breakfast isn’t included but I’ve never seen a non-buffet breakfast included Room was clean, hotel was quiet Pool isn’t heated which is a bummer but not a dealbreaker Would stay again!

Sarah Schornack

I am more than disappointed that the courtyard chose to remove the hot tub from this location We live close by and would use this hotel specifically for having a pool and hot tub where the whole family was accommodated As a family we could enjoy time together, the kids could be in the pool and the parents in the hot tub

It is clean and Maintained well, another reason we chose this hotel I just do not understand why you removed it for seating There was plenty of seating all around and tables before You may not have food or drinks in the pool area so added seating among many other reasons makes no sense It’s no longer full family friendly The price of rooms has gone up while amenities are taken away Very disappointing I also would look up courtyards when I chose to travel as well This makes me think to look else where while booking and it’s such a bummer I was a fan of this hotel I would also recommend updating your website as it is still advertised as having a hot tub

Deb Van Trigt

Pool was COLD I was sad that they don’t offer free breakfast or even lobby coffee Oh and they cut off the room keys a half hour before checkout making a trip to the desk for reactivating necessary

Other than that the rooms and service were top notch Great assistance with lost items, I really wish the pool was warmer and they didn’t remove the hot tub

I stayed 21 days with my wife in a 1 bedroom suite, overall it was quite good I also came to this hotel about 10 years ago and it is still about the same It is nice to have a small kitchen but in two people you start seeing how limited this kitchen really is

I did not try to borrow additional kitchen stuff (I am sure I could get something more) The difference from my previous stays is that everything is 10 years older now, and you start seeing wear and tear in about everything, as maintenance cannot really keep it working well without an actual remodeling Cleaning is ok, staff are friendly and helpful The price for the stay is lower than the competitors, cost x benefit still seems to be better here I cannot give a better rating this time as I got minor issues with my room, I reported the first one in the first day but it was not fixed (toilet was slowly leaking /flushing water and every couple minutes I could hear the reservoir being filled again) Card readers also don’t work well from time to time (I had to walk around the building in the snow just to try another door) Please improve your maintenance, if a guest notifies about something, please try harder to fix it Thanks and good work!

Marita Notaro

Nice bathroom Pretty clean Fairly new, but cabinets and furniture are starting to get a little beat up

Loved the bathroom and it was clean except for a bit of dust here and there, no biggy Walls had a few smudges, but again, not a big deal to me as long as the rest is clean The only thing that really bothered me was that the hallways smelled and the room smelled even worse I wish I could tell you what it was, but honestly I haven’t ever come across that odor before I’m very sensitive to odors though, so it might not bother most people We were on a month long road trip and washing machines and driers were free! We really appreciated that The bed and pillows were comfortable, and the towels were clean and excellent quality All in all a pretty nice place to stay

We stayed here over the weekend We did encounter some issues upon arrival and during our first night stay However, I gave them four stars because their manager was really understanding, welcoming, and made it right

Check in was delayed over an hour, we were told house keeping was behind and our room wasn’t ready, ok, no problem However, things in our room were really dusty and we found several Linens in our room had large stains on them Talked to the manager and politely explained what we were experiencing and showed him some photos of the items He was very kind to us and apologized for the inconvenience He sent the head of housekeeping up to clean the room They did a good job They changed out all the Linens and dusted He offered a discount on our first night stay for the inconvenienceAll that aside, we enjoyed the pool, it was bit chilly for an indoor heated pool, but fine overall I LOVED the lighted mirror in the bathroom, it was great for getting ready The shower had good water pressure and the beds were comfy We really liked that the hotel had liquid hand soap in the rooms, and it smelled really good I recommend putting 4 towels and wash cloths in a double bed room though Overall, our stay here was fine

Jim Blankenship

Friendly staff The room was very clean and comfortable There were unruly guests next door which was unfortunate but around 12:30 am I called the front desk and they took care of it

The workout facility was nice and the pool was warm The continental breakfast was just OK (food was a bit cold) but it was nice to have the option Good place for a couple night stay

The towels were larger than some of my blankets at home The gym was bigger than most, three treadmills and multiple other machines in there as well as weights and a stretching area I didn’t use any other amenities and didn’t eat on site One of the restaurants on site has a business casual dress code, which I was not prepared for Any staff I interacted with were friendly and helpful When I was there the elevator on my side was not working, which was fine by me because my room was right next to it The parking situation felt a little sketch being in the back of the hotel, but it’s Bloomfield Hills, so I wasn’t too worried As is true for most anywhere in that area, the pavement to the parking lot on both sides is trash, with extremely large potholes all over the place, so beware when driving The drive in the front was intact and smooth

I attended a beautiful wedding reception at the Townsend Hotel this weekend The venue was incredible, beautiful flowers, incredible food and drink, and service that was top notch The reason for my review, however, is the lengths the staff went to help me in a funny if not embarrassing incident

I realized that the underside of my shoe had come unglued, making walking quite awkward, and dancing of course, impossible I limped toward the main desk and Sean, the concierge, immediately took note of the problem and radioed his engineer, asking for adhesive Jay, the engineer, appeared with gorilla glue and proceeded to reassemble my shoe including pressing on it and blowing it dry All the while, both were attempting to make me feel less embarrassed and could not have been kinder Believe this or not but after an hour on the dance floor, my other shoe fell victim and once again the staff at the Townsend Hotel jumped to my rescue and repaired it as well Sean and Jay as well as the team at the desk could not have been kinder They helped me make light of the situation and insured that I could revisit the dance floor in no time and enjoy the spectacular wedding Thank you to the wonderful staff at the Townsend Hotel I will honestly never forget your kindness

This location isn’t convenient but it’s worth the experience I’m a Marriott kind of person but this hotel is an awesome hotelRooms seem sound proof, bellman were astoundingly amazing carrying my luggage with such care

Beautiful hotel in the heart of Birmingham We loved being a short walk from restaurants whether it was a pastry for breakfast, a slice of pizza for lunch, or Bella Piatta for a great dinner across the street Our room was very comfortable but what stood out to me was the shower

Such a great shower! The only downside… as someone who likes to always have a glass of ice water nearby, I didn’t like having to request ice from the bellman

Our two night stay was quite enjoyable and a good value The location of the hotel is very nice and the desk staff were all professional and efficient Our room in the tower overlooked the courtyard and landscaping below

Beds were comfortable and the bathroom was small but clean Elevators were always available and quite fast The included breakfast in their restaurant was wonderful and the atmosphere was comfortable and not rushed Our server Dee was truly a professional treat!

Room was mostly clean Sofa bed had old sheets from previous others, some hair in the shower It’s just okay, nothing spectacular

Staff was nice Bathrooms are on the hallway side really closely with thin walls You can hear literally everything happening outside in those bathroomsIt’s an okay hotel, but wouldn’t return Not much to really do here for the price but it’s clearly for professionals staying short term

Our son and daughter in law’s wedding reception was at the Somerset Inn on Saturday… it was SUPERB! My husband is blind so they hired a hostess to help him thru the buffet line and attend to his needs Like keeping him up on his ice water, sodas, coffee etc She was so sweet! She even took my 86 yr old Mom to the restroom

She also attended the Bridal party table and many others The food was excellent and the hotel rooms were spacious and lovely the cocktail hour before reception went well too We were thrilled with the entire weekend The hotel staff was very courteous and fun

From the outside one would think that this is an old apartment complex of two buildings Don’t let that fool you Once inside, it was clean modern hotel with pleasant staff

The room was a small but very efficiently laid out suite complete with a full kitchen I would definitely stay here again It was a great value The only negative is that the sign from Fox Drive is very small and you have to be looking for it

The Service here was excellent The Property is dated and could use an update Breakfast had plenty of options

We unexpectedly had our 94 year old mother in law with us with a sprained ankle Although our room 108 was marked “handicapped” there was only a bathtub with one grab bar We were told only one room had a walk in shower but it was occupied during our 4 night stay On our second morning Chastity in housekeeping overheard our dilemma Apparently that room was vacated and being cleaned She went to the acting manager and assisted us with getting this room It made our stay safer for mom and us! Shoutout to Chastity for her consideration and friendliness! Front desk and management were also friendly and responded to all our requests!

The hotel was clean and in good condition The staff was friendly and helpful The location was okay, but make sure you have a vehicle to get around

However, the wifi was not working the entire time I was there (1 night) Had to call tech support myself, which was unable to help at all Also, found a used cotton swab behind the door in the bathroom, which was a turn off The hot breakfast was weak and consisted of store bought breakfast sandwiches, boiled potatoes (cubed), bagels, yogurt and some applesOverall, it was an okay stay but I wouldn’t make any effort to stay here again
