Johanna Stecklein

This was the best place to stay!!!! Truly the highlight of our trip, we loved the cleanliness of the rooms, the rooms were big and also had a balcony with Ocean views! The staff was 5 star and told us to just walk like 3 blocks down and we were literally in the middle of downtown

perfect location! We woke up early and walked across the street to the public beach and it was so clean

Bryan Dodds

Fantastic location Across the street from the Frazee State Beach, right next to the village and great restaurants Parking was conveniently right below our room

The ladies at the front desk were terrific The breakfast was good and the view from the breakfast bar was awesome Only negatives were that there wasn’t any room service and rooms are a bit dated but that’s it Definitely one of the best value hotels in Carlsbad

Very beautiful designed hotel with a prefect view of the oceanThe valet and check-in staff were very friendlyIt is very expensive and they definitely need to work on somethings to make the experience worth the money

A couple of the staff who work at the pool and bar were extremely rude and unwelcoming, just this will make me not want to go backI booked a daybed at the pool and thank goodness because the pool was over packed and it seemed like non hotel guest came and meet their friends Kids everywhere which definitely took away from the relaxing part and made it hard to get into their very tiny poolThe daybed was $200 and it came with warm water nothing to keep it cold The beds where suppose to have a sever but we got the least attention, the people just hanging out at the pool where served more So I don’t think I got me money’s worth other than having a spot to sit Lunch isn’t served till 12 and by that time everyone at the pool was ordering food moving the time to 11 would help the staff not be so overwhelmedThe restaurant took a really long time to get drinks out and the steak had a lot of fat on it but the pork belly was really goodI was there celebrating my birthday and the staff asked a couple time but didn’t do anything for it or at the restaurant which was a little weirdIt was a great one time experience but I don’t think we will go back

Adam C

Fantastic hotel Excellent staff, well-appointed rooms, large balconies, nice pool area Very much enjoyed our visit

Best views are the rooms facing the west (ocean) from the second or higher floor South rooms will face condos and north facing rooms will view the ocean, the nearly beach, and segments of the 101 Valet only Some restaurants are within walkable distance, but not much You will need water shoes for the beach (rocks)

T S

Beautiful location and modern design, we enjoyed our stay here A+ attentive staff that was friendly, expedient and on-brandThe bar at sunset is not to be missed & features a well trained team with a craft forward skill set

Of note: as others have said, if you are not a fan of the restaurant, you’ll be challenged with room service (it’s an extension of the chef’s influence)

Very nice accommodations Excellent guest services Nice clean rooms

Fun pool for the kiddos and jacuzzi for adults The windmill food hall was topnotch not a bad thing there Everything was so delicious! Perfect location for great food and beach access minutes awayThe premium outlets across the street were perfect for some retail therapy too

Chris Weiner

Far and away the best experience I’ve had staying at a Carlsbad hotel The service was great, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, the rooms are clean and comfortable, the pool is heated perfectly, and the location is fantastic It’s right next to all the great Carlsbad attractions like Legoland, the beach is close by, and same with the village, but also plenty of shopping and great restaurants to choose from all within walking distance

I had to make last minute reservations, which they were able to help me out with I also had to extend my stay at the last minute and they were able to get it doneAll and all, it was a great experience I’d highly recommend this hotel

Joe Bodick

This unique hotel was a great respite from our busy Legoland trips! The rooms were very clean and comfortableThe pool was great for the kidsLisa and Chad were so helpful and nice! The food hall had a lot of choices, which was great for our picky little eaters

The staff upgraded us to a ocean view, top floor, corner unit which had a great view of the ocean and a large balcony The facilities were very clean, maintenance was responsive and resolve issues quickly The staff kept us informed and asked if we needed anything via text messages which we appreciated

The unit was large and quite The beach was right outside the unit The TV didn’t work but they are working to resolve that and replace their provider In the meantime, they had a large selection of movies that you can check out of the office for free We had a great time and the staff was wonderful The room was very clean and they changed out our towels 2x during the 7 days and did a mini cleaning mid way Overall, it was a wonderful stay and we would highly recommend

Rich Ruppert

Our one bedroom unit was sanitized and clean The furniture is comfortable and is newer Our unit was oceanfront, feet from the beach

The soothing sound of the waves 24/7 The common areas include many Gas Barbecues, shower area before returning to the building, under building secured code required parking, and a to die for view when using the spa The entire staff is dedicated to meeting your needs with a smile

Room was very nice, well maintained and clean Every staff member we met smiled and said hello at the least The staff were all very friendly, even the maintenance guy (doppelganger for Willie Nelson) who had to switch out our dishwasher and did so quickly with no evidence he’d even been in the room

Used the free bikes, enjoyed the treats in the pool area and the live music The welcome breakfast was great as were the smores and bingo All the other guests were friendly and happy The adult only (bonus) hot tub was open til 11Staff are rewarded when guests fill in a comment card with their name A great idea! Just takes a minute We did several!A great find where we would definitely stay again if we can get in We were sad to be leaving 😔

Bari W

This is a beautiful resort located steps from the beach I’ve visited many times because my friend has a timeshare there The rooms are spacious and there is always something going on out on the big lawn

There’s also a playground for the kids tucked away at the south side of the property Gorgeous views, relaxing vibes A must visit

Summer

This hotel is easily within walking distance to the beach We could see the ocean from our balcony! The rooms were clean and the service was incredibly friendly and always ready to assist Although they didn’t have a breakfast at this hotel, they did offer ice water, hot tea, and coffee throughout day

The weekly schedule of events that they gave us upon arrival was a welcome addition to our trip We will definetely be coming back here

Mountain View

The Lakehouse has always been my favorite place, with its picture-perfect Mountain and Lake San Marcos LSM Marina is a must to enjoy water sports or simply cruise and admire the surroundings I am very happy with the pontoon boat that I rented

I must say that I’ve seen them a lot cleaner back in 2014-2016 and they seem to be the same boats this 2022 which explains why there are stains all around or weather damages on the leather seats, which are understandable when used over the years No complaints on the same awesome experience Just a suggestion if the management wants to improve by sanitizing better, change upholstery or deep-clean everything The staff who answered my call like Liam and the guys assisting at the dock are all very welcoming I’ll still give it a 5⭐️ And we’ll definitely be back

Jack Bowman

My wife and I came here on our honeymoon We had an absolute blast This place was worth every penny we spent on it

It’s up-to-date, very clean, the staff are incredibly friendly, and the amenities kept us very busyFor starters, they have several fire pits around the pool area (and a fantastic hot tub), which they give you smores to roast over It’s very cute They also give you a free bucket of balls for their driving range The poolside bar wasn’t incredibly well stocked for making custom requests, but their house drinks were just fine for us and the bartender was very nice and made us laughWe are already planning to come here again next time we decide to visit San Marcos

Max Delbecq

Pros: nice little lake with small, retirement community/golf vibe Nice boats – the small pontoon boat was really fun for our family of 3 for an afternoon picnic on the water Could have easily fit 6-7 people comfortably

Liked being able to book in advance via the websiteCons: employees, which are just a bunch of youngsters, were a little disorganized Price is high for a couple hours on a lake ($100/hour for the small pontoon boat + tax)

I wasn’t going to bother to write a review but after seeing what the manager wrote to my friend I will I normally only write good reviews and don’t bother with the bad ones but this one truly deserves itCal a Vie might have been a luxury resort as the manager called it but it is certainly to longer one, as I frequently travel to luxury resorts

The place is dirty, understaffed and with poor service, so bad that our 4 hour experience was enough for wanting to leave Talked to the manager and told her about our negative experiences and we left with the agreement she would refund us They did not, still charged us a deposit of 4000 US dollars for both and only now say it was the policyLike my friend said, we would have left anyways as we thought it was absolutely horrible ( have been to other beautiful spas together which we have loved ) but telling us we would get refunded and then charging us is just to much I guess it just shows who they are Pls don’t bother to write more lies If you ever had a luxurious spa and you still charge the same, work on getting it back to what it was (and what you advertise it is)

Meredith Lile

My husband bought this trip for us in December 2019, three months before the Pandemic shutdown Unfortunately, we could not get it booked until June, 2022 California was the last to take off masks and mandates, so this was the best time we could make it work

We were told by management, the pricing was going up soon so we would have to pay the difference if we did not get it booked ASAP We booked it, and felt maybe we would have been better off paying the difference due to our service Upon arrival we did not feel like we received the same attention as the other guests Our room (room #1) was old and we were told by staff on about three occasions that rarely do they put people in that room We know whythe shower was broken (asked to fix but barely trickled out) the room was small and everything seemed run down The other guests raved about their rooms and were definitely far nicer than ours We did not get a tour of the property as the others did, so we showed ourselves around Unfortunately did not find out about the Cryo therapy until the last day, nor did we know the ins and out of anything so would ask others for guidance The lady who checked us in for activities seemed a bit short and not very friendly I told her I was allergic to crab and my husband would not eat one thing with onions and low and behold, one of my first meals was full of crab that I had to return and my husband had onions in any dish served with onions included My name was spelled wrong on tags and the table place holders so I felt like the attention to detail was lacking We arrived 10 minutes after appetizers at 6:40 which started at 6:30 and the food was gone and were told that was it Strange to pay this for a wellness place and not be treated as I believe we should have been On a positive note, the food was tasty, good morning workouts, and the spa treatments were great! The view from the top was beautiful, but strangely did not see it until the 2nd or 3rd night and the resort should have people up there immediately since it is such a beautiful view near the vineyard Overall we are glad we got to see what it was all about, and got to visit beautiful California!!

Juanita Brooks

It was a disaster The grounds were run down and the common rooms were filthy After 2 hours my friend, who flew in from Chile, from our spa adventure and I just really wanted to leave

We talked to the manager who assured us a full refund and admitted that they were understaffed Now they are refusing to refund the original $4000 deposit I paid for the two of us The whole experience was so negative that I’m willing to give up the $4000 rather than ever going there again

We absolutely LOVED our stay at the Mission Pacific! My husband, myself, and our 10-month-old son stayed 3 nights here and had the best time Cindy at the front desk was amazing and made sure we had a mini-fridge and rib for the baby She also upgraded our room since they were not able to accommodate us for a pool cabana due to an event, and our room was amazing with ocean views a sitting area, and a large bath! Thanks, Cindy! The pool staff was so attentive and made sure we had fresh towels and drinks throughout the day

We also enjoyed the pool at the sister property, the sea bird which was amazing We ate at Valle for dinner and the food was great and the service was Michelin level We are New Yorkers and have traveled all over the world and the service was top-notch, we will definitely be back!

Terrance Yu

Excellent hard product and superb soft service Valet is easy and efficient; a quick text and the car is in the turnaround I’m no alkaline water connoisseur but I love the recyclable water bottle concept

The front desk is super responsive and helped us with breakfast reservations The beach rambler is amazing; free umbrella and chairs can be set up right on the beach I’m definitely going to miss that service next time we go to the beach on our own The hotel is right in front of the Amtrak line but you can barely hear any noise when the window is closed I’m not sure if I really felt the hot and cold temperatures of the 8 POD bed but it is very comfortable The ocean view studio is well designed with the sliding door and the deep water tub We’re already talking about coming back again The location is just so amazing to be steps away from the beach Oceanside may not be on everyone’s latest tourist destination radar but we can’t recommend this resort enough

Vanessa L

I had such a great stay here!Pros:Hotel room – I was upgraded to an ocean view room (due to status) and it was literally right in front of the ocean with unobstructed views The room was spacious, but I was also alone so not sure if I would feel the same with 2 people Bed was super comfy and robes/slippers were great

Hotel amenities – the rooftop pool area was exactly my viberarely any children, views of the ocean and drink service I also did rooftop yoga that was included, which was icing on top Having access to Seabird was great because on Sunday they had a free spa day so I was able to use the sauna and other facilitiesRestaurants – there were lots of options between both properties that I never needed to go elsewhereSurrounding area – I feel like I didn’t see many reviews about the beach area It’s a very lively beach area across the streetfood vendors, surfers, fishers, etc doesn’t die down until around 8pmCons:-Facing the beach also meant facing the busy street, so just be aware that it will be noisy until about 8ish every evening-The restaurant menus aren’t that robust Meaning each menu is about 1 page long, so don’t expect a steakhouse or anything- Noise levels were great in my room until the last night when a huge family checked in and they had multiple roomsslamming doors and running the halls Not the hotels fault, but just something to note

We just had yet another awesome stay at this wonderful property With 5 of us travelling (my wife and 3 children) we need a lot of room so we booked a two bedroom suite and it was perfect, with more than enough room and all the amenities you could want The staff was super friendly and professional and we really felt at home

A special shout out to the lady that runs the activity center and leads the morning hikes She was the greatest! My family really enjoyed some of the art activities that she offered and I was really impressed by her knowledge of the local flora and fauna as she pointed out various interesting bits of information as she led the morning nature hikes The food was great both at the Cove bar and when the wife and I wanted something a little more upscale the Restaurant at the Westin (which was only a two minute walk from our room) was fantastic I’d just like to thank the staff for making our stay so special and in particular Ms Megan Connor the GM who makes it all happen

James Deguzman

The rooms are nice and spacious The staff is what makes this place great The front desk personnel were nice and courteous and very accommodating

Our room was super clean by housekeeping upon arrival I also noticed the cleaning staff clean the bbq grills on a regular basis Events staff and employees around the pool area were all super friendly and helpful All the staff make this place an amazing place to stay

BB rEflecTion

Beautiful area, direct access to Lego land Easy trail to walk on Good pool side services

One of TV in our bedroom is broken on sound, but everything else in the room is fine There’s some construction going on but not bad on noise level ( To be fair, the screaming kids at the pool is the responsibility of the parents) This is one of good HGVC properties that actually care about the owners, compared to some others I had been Keep it up and we’ll be back!

Location is great and the amenities are nice, the room layout is really well designed The pool is a great place to hang out, and being right across the street from the beach you can easily go back and forth Underground parking on site was convenient

I think the coolest part was the patio on the seventh floor that is a great place to watch the sunset

Stefanie Ziller

We are having a wonderful family vacation here, staying 5 nights! The room is fantastic, 2 bed, 2 bath with ocean view! At an affordable price Minus 1 star because checkin is at 3pm, but we had to wait in the lobby for 15 hrs with 2 anxious kiddos, bc I guess our room wasn’t ready

Met some other guests who were also delayed But once we got in, it’s been great! They don’t tidy rooms, or replenish stuff, but I will ask for a couple shampoos tomorrow and see how it goes! Also, The pool is nice! Overall, can’t beat this room and location

Nathan Mackintosh

Very very nice rooms, basically a small apartment They have a trash service sorta, you go into this room and put your trash then the trash guy takes it The nicer rooms have kitchens and 2 bed and 2 bath

Service is great and they have 2 level parking underground only issue is that there are 2 halves of building and somtimes you have to remember which wing your room is in They have a VERY nice pool and hot tub and a gathering room (ping pong and Tv) They have conference centers and it’s pretty nice

We had the best time in this Resort The property is well maintained, all services are available and the staff is very welcoming We had the best check-in experience in years

A highlight worth mentioning is the excellent breakfast menu Somehow Hilton used the pandemic as excuse to severely downgrade on breakfast quality as well as benefits for status members Not so in Carlsbad, they offer a well crafted breakfast menu that goes well beyond eggs & bacon and with diamond food credits you can actually get more than a cream cheese bagelCan only recommend this place for a get-away or when traveling through Southern California

Joe Sage

This review is written from the perspective of family trips with kids (though it could be a fun business trip center as well) This hotel is a great place to stay in the San Diego area

The most salient features are the pool, the ocean and the low key vibe The ocean is just across the street The pool is zero entry, large and there is a hot tub people can enjoy Food and beverages can be ordered at the restaurant and enjoyed pool sideNeed a low key day? Start with breakfast at the hotel (kids insist on it) and then spend time at the pool, walk to the beach, repeat with dinner and sunset poolsideWhen you need to explore the city, it’s an easy 30 minutes away This is our base of operations for our adventuresEnjoy!

Alvin Hao

Our experience was mixedThe good:Awesome ocean view poolRooms are spacious and clean

Best dinning experience, ocean and sunset viewHotel staff are nice and helpfulThe bad:There was an eyelash on the hair dryer, pretty creepyWe ordered some birthday amenities for my wife at the front desk at 5pm and was told that they’d be delivered to our room in an hour Well they were delivered around 10pm, after a few times of back and forth and me running around between the front desk and the restaurantSomehow housekeeping thought we were checking out and cleaned out one of our rooms Took me 2 days to be able to retrieve part of our belongings I’m still waiting for a call for the remaining, but I don’t think it will happen

I had originally booked a different hotel because it was cheaper, but cancelled when I read their reviews I’m so glad I booked a room here for my family trip of 4 nights! The room was huge and clean We walked 20 minutes to a nice park and beach our first night

The proximity to I-5 made traveling everywhere very convenient Staff was friendly and helpful Housekeeping checked in every morning with fresh towels and coffee pods Breakfast offered a variety of foods each day and staff managed replenishment really well when it got busy The hotel was family friendly with lots of kids My kids enjoyed playing in the pool The location felt safe and everything was just really easy!

Dusty Sparks

My stay was great! The hotel was nicer than I expected Millie, the housekeeper is super kind and friendly Give her a raise, she deserves it! I don’t know if there are employees that live on site, but it appeared so, and they were hanging out around the pool area drinking alcohol and being loud about 9pm

The next day when I went to use the pool at 11am they had left their beer caps and other garbage by the tables That being said, a great hotel for the price!

Leanne Gislason

I stayed here for the Oceanside Ironman 703 The breakfast staff went above and beyond to feed everyone and keep everything well stocked while being super friendly

The room was basic but clean and we didn’t notice bugs or mold The reason for 1 star is David, the front desk agent who was working when we arrived after a long day of travel from Canada He was rude, condescending, and creepy He made claims that part of our reservation process would get another staff member fired (a worker approved a room change over the phone prior to us getting there) and mocked us for being surprised about that He insinuated that we ripped the hotel off by booking through a third party travel site Travelling as two women, this was pretty uncomfortable and we avoided him the rest of the trip, double locking our doors Ew, David

Front desk personnel did not immediately acknowledge our arrival even when there were 3 of them just chatting and we are the only people in front of them We arrived at past 3PM expecting that our room would be ready but were told to wait for their call It took more than 30 minutes until they told us our room is available

This is not to mention that I have a Diamond level status which were not even acknowledged at this hotel No offer of room upgrade, no free breakfast, no offer of bottled water nor points And parking is not even free Around 7PM, I went back to the front desk to request for a 2PM late check out next day but I was told to return back to the front desk at 6AM with a condescending tone Went back to the front desk at 6AM as instructed only to be denied and no alternative offered other than being told that they are fully booked On a positive note, the hotel is clean which should be base standard especially for a 4 star hotel I expected this to be a memorable birthday celebration for myself but it gave us a not so good experience Definitely not returning back to this property and now rethinking my future relationship with the Hilton brand

Melody Marshall

Our room was not ready until 5:00 pm!!! We are Diamond members and we’re told ‘even the manager had to come in to work on a Monday!’ Once in the room the safe had no working parts and the refrigerator was frozen and had to be replaced We went to the lobby for a non existent breakfast of only coffee and pastries

When we asked if they had a plate for the pastries we were told no The bar tables were filthy with food and drink spills When we ask for a rag to clean a table we were told there weren’t any and offered a baby wipe to clean it ourselves The front staff was just standing at the desks and could have at least cleaned the tables And why didn’t the bar staff clean them at night We were told the marketplace is never stocked by the resort hotel There isn’t a breakfast associated with being a Diamond member, no upgrades, no water, no Hilton benefits at all We were also told there are no upgrades at the Tapestry for Diamond members if you booked the room on points, we have never been told this at other Tapestry hotels The rooms are clean and the hotel is an easy walk to Legoland, but what makes this a Hilton property is beyond me This hotel is grossly understaffed

Brian Yamashita

I’m sure your experience will be better than mine and the end of my trip was good but the beginning was a rough one We had the thermostat go out om day one and it was broken the rest of the first day and second day As you might be able to imagine in the summer with kids and no air and nothing they can do it was a bad night

If I was staying a week it might have been fine but night to and day 3 we all sleep and made the vacation with the kids a bit of a loss when it came to taking them to lego land for only 2 hours day 2 because of how tiered they were

Had to relocate to this resort late at night due to a water issue at previous hotel Hunter, the evening manager, helped my coworker and I check in, gave us very useful info, and even stayed over an hour past his scheduled time to help get my boss checked in who was running late Hunter went above and beyond to ensure we were taken care of

Resort is very clean and nice Rooms are huge Staff and service is unmatched

daniel Proo

From the minute my wife and I came in Hunter in the front desk, Hunter was respectful and has sense of urgency to create a good customer service experience, I’ve gone to many hotels/resorts and never have I been greeted like Hunter has, his attitude is always positive and always had a solution to my stay These past 2 years have been a challenge specially for the service industry, Hunter is a advocate to the meaning of the service! This place is clean and will recommend to anyone that want to be treated like guest

Nemo Omen

They say they serve Starbucks coffee but no one but one person new how to brew coffee so I have wait until that one person came back to serve me Ridiculous I stood in front of coffee bar for 5 minutes and the bar tenders are just talking away

Also when I checked in the lobby lady said she was going to upgrade me to a bigger room but I had to wait two hours! After driving five hours I’m not going wait 2 more hours after my check in hour!! Hotel is beautiful, but staff are lazy and ignorant!! Probably not returning for a bad first impression! Would rather pay extra money for the resort on legoland! Very disappointed as a Sheraton regular customer

Brian Ahn

This is a beautiful course, but it’s currently undergoing construction on a few holes (described below) Even with this disturbance, they’re still charging full price for the course, which I think is insane It’s worth half of the current green fees (if that) at the moment

I wouldn’t come back here until it’s confirmed that they’re all done and back to normal operations So just wanted to make people aware of that I certainly wouldn’t have paid as much as I did to play a bucket list course where I was putting on a fairwayTo make up for the construction, golfers have to skip holes 1 and 18 and they converted two of their par 5 holes (I think hole 10 and 17) into four holes (each par 5 turned into one short par 4 and one short par 3) They didn’t really cut new greens in, so on two holes, you will be literally putting on a fairway It also means it can get a bit confusing if you’re used to relying on any apps you use to calculate your distances/scores for you (hole 1 in your round is hole 2 in your apps and so forth until the made up holes, in which case your app will not be helpful at all) The carts have GPS to the made up greens though, so that is helpful

Todd David

As other reviews have noted, the course is in the middle of re-grassing and as a result a couple of holes are closed and others are modified to make it a par 69 instead of 72 Other reviews provide details We love Aviara; we play it every year

The staff is great and the place is well run But it is wildly inappropriate to be charging full rate while the course is undergoing such dramatic work It’s good that Aviara’s management acknowledges the reviews But it is past time for the rates to be reduced while the work is ongoing Other clubs undergoing work do just that

Craig Mulcahy

Very nice course but with 2 holes being worked on (which we knew about) made it less of a memorable experience Putting temp greens in the middle of par 5 fairways is a horrible way to amend the issue Having players play 16 of the 18 as designed and try to have players play 2 holes twice would be a lot better option

Also, charging 2 times the amount for a “double” drink is absolutely ridiculous $103 for three drinks I have played at hundreds of clubs and doubling the price for a double is unheard of

Can’t say enough about the great experience we had here the last couple of years Modernity at its finest at the heart of Carlsbad Walking distance to awesome restaurants and footsteps to the sand

Highly recommend it In the summer time the water is amazing to swim in and we recently experienced dolphins swimming closely to the shore

My wife and I have been staying at Ocean Villas every month of April for the past 12 years We were surprised there were new owners when we arrived last month They have remodeled( still finishing it)

They have done a spectacular job!!! The new owners are great people and Lily, the Manager, is a sweetheart They are all so accommodating and could not be any nicer It was a bit noisy while the remodel was being worked on, but we didn’t care They were most apologetic We were just appreciative to be there The only problem we had was we had to leave to come back home We are counting the days to our return!! We would not stay any other place in Carlsbad!!

francis meram

Little bit of paradise tucked away in Carlsbad! Beautifully appointed newly renovated rooms Large patios overlooking the Pacific Ocean in almost every room If you get the ability to stay in the sand unit it’s a must! Located directly on the beach and perfect for multiple families! Management provides you with chairs and beach toys to further enjoy your stay! Prices are extremely reasonable compared to other properties! We will definitely be back to Ocean Villas soon!

I’m surprised by all these 5 star reviews Those people were probably staying in the king size bedrooms overlooking the ocean 😂 We had a partial view doubles room that did not feel spacious or well-lit

I’m glad they are renovating and really hope they add Queen beds at least! The pros: Service was excellent! They really were so helpful and always present Loved the beach chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, sand toys, towels, etc… It’s also a nice location being in the quieter part of town and having a quieter part of the beach There are lots of smooth rocks in the water, however, so it hurts to boogie board unless you wear sandals which we had to do Cons: No water pressure in the shower, toilet that didn’t flush and we had to manually push the lever down in the tank to fill the bowl with water so that it would flush Every time, scratchy toilet paper, a continental breakfast that we just didn’t look forward to (hard boiled eggs are packaged and taste as such), French toast tasted packaged as well…it just wasn’t as good as what we’ve had at basic hotel which cost much less I hope that’s just a covid thing and the usual breakfast is hot and fresh with more protein items Overall I wish we had stayed in an Airbnb instead A washer/dryer would have been heavenly, especially when you’re there for 4 days like us and have swimming suits you want to wash or at least hang out to dry I’m so so happy to be home right now in my queen bed with Costco tp and eggs in my fridge fir a fresh breakfast in the morning Oh and because the water wash-off wasn’t working the first day we were there, we got sand in our room That is inevitable at a beach inn, but without daily housekeeping, the floors just get sandier and sandier We spread towels out on the floors and wore socks that we brushed off before bed, but sand still gets in your bed

Stacy Skach

I had booked and oceanfront room awhile back and had requested a higher floor Was told wheh I checked in, “I see it your profile”, but it’s unavailable and will let you know if we can accommodate you The WiFi is terrible

The rooms look amazing, but safes did not work I loved this hotel (and staff) before the renovation, but the staff is very evasive when it comes to anything I also had an unexpected maintenance man try to enter my room while I was in it and told me my lock didn’t work I said, I never called in a service order Also, the WiFi seldom works unless you ask the front desk for their portal password I paid for my Dad to stay in a pool terrace room too and the elevator was inconsistent in working Not good if your dad has a knee replacement I loved this place every time we have stayed here, but will Airbnb next time

Pam Sassi

Not a great experience For over $500 a night I would’ve hoped for better quality The property is under a 2 phase renovation and when booking you have no way of knowing if you are booked with the renovated side of the property or the old side

Our “ocean view” was the entire top of the roof of the building in front of us, which was absolutely hideous to look out at Lighting in the bathroom makes you feel like you’re in prison There was also a maintenance closet right out side the bathroom window which constantly had people going in and out of, which made you feel pretty uncomfortable taking a shower or even changing in your bathroom Internet was out the night we checked in and was told to “go find an internet cafe if we needed wifi” Also the air conditioning wasn’t working first night No one showed up that night or next day when I had to call again to remind them, then still didn’t get it fixed till late in the afternoon the next day I was told there was no room cleaning, if we need linens we have to find a plastic bag to put the old ones in and set them outside the door and wait till we get new ones? What a nightmare I also asked for more towels and never received any So over $500 a night for no clean linens and the same 4 towels Also, the roughest towels I have ever used, felt like sand paper Toilet stopped working on the second day, called down to the office and was told 5 minutes for someone to be up 1 hour later the “POOL BOY” came up to look at our toilet and said “Sorry I am the pool boy, the maintenance guy is on another property, I will let him know you need him” So, the office sent the pool boy for our maintenance request For breakfast you leave a card on your door and they collect your menu order and bring the next morning When our breakfast didn’t show up next morning the lady in the office said “you must’ve not filled it out correctly” BTW the breakfast was not worth the trouble, so skip it So disappointed and could’ve spent less on a lot nicer places we have stayed at before but considered splurging and trying something new in the area

The hotel itself is fantastic! But SO LOUD that I got almost no sleep If you are a light sleeper, then anything in the Oceanside area near the tracks is gonna be that way Good to think about

They even provided a sound machine in the room So nice But the hotel is literally on the train tracks I got so startled each time it went through that I was wide awake And they come through all night UghThat said, the hotel is BEAUTIFUL The staff was great The rooms were so nice and well thought out Comfortable beds, a nice couch, a nice community deck area to sit out on and a great area to explore I really recommend the hotelif you can sleep through the trainsIf you are there, I love the Pier and the Hello Betty restaurant by the hotel It is a great area, and the actual hotel is wonderful

Katherine Pacheco

Our stay was short, just one night The rooms were clean, and looked just as they did in the photos The staff was friendly and all said hi even when just passing in the corridor

The breakfast was the normal free breakfasts that you usually get Scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, fresh spinach, bagels, yogurt, cereal, coffee, teas, and juice There is no self parking, but the valet parking was only $37 We didn’t need our car The beach and restaurants were all in walking distance Love that they now offer small sound machines and earplugs to help drown out any outside noise

D SP

Apart from the location being near to the beach, there is hardly anything good about this one The front desk was evasive when it came for basic services On our arrival they told us that the room will be serviced on the second day of stay

On day-2 they pushed this to the third day and on day-3 they told me that it was ‘on demand’ only After I expressed my frustration on the different answers I was hearing from the front desk every time I called, they apologized and sent someone that evening The room service lady was pretty disinterested We saw her reusing the same bedsheet and pointed out the stains, after which she finally used new bed sheets The breakfast was pretty mediocre I would definitely pass this one in our net trip to Oceanside The two adjacent hotels Mission and Seabird looked far better

OK so to start, I grew up going to this resort every summer as a kid My grandparents had a time share there So for the nostalgia of it all, it was wonderful

And to now be able to share those memories with my kids, it was awesomeThey have made many upgrades to the place There is a brand new gym with nice equipment and even a rock wallHowever, the pools do not open until 9 and the 2 water slides do not open till 11:15!! The clubhouse (which right now there is only 1 open) does not open till 11!! Which means you can’t check out equipment like fishing rods etc until almost the heat of the day! This place is supposed to be a family resort but does anyone know what time kids get up in the morning?!! Hint, it’s not 9 or 11! LolAnd then all the pools close at 9 so if you and your spouse wanted to go enjoy the hot tub in the evening on your vacation, you have to do it earlyIt’s just oddWe had a mouse in our room Not a huge deal, it happens right but all they had were huge rat traps! The mouse set them off twice but was too small to be caught by the contraptionYou have to reserve a time slot for most all of the activities which seems nice except for the fact that you’re on vacation and sometimes don’t stick to a schedule But most of the time, you couldn’t just walk up and do somethingAlso, if you reserved pickle ball at the nice main courts, you still had to go to Melody Hill to pick up your equipment! All in all, very odd Things were not open for very long or at the right times, reserving time slots was stressful and the Grill restaurant on site was very expensive :(Loved it growing up but I’m not sure we’ll go back

Paul Schaafsma

Wasn’t the best experience First thing after checking in you are invited to a Timeshare event/tour They were not pushy about it

The staff did try to make things right but in the end it just didn’t work out The first room we arrived at hadn’t been cleaned, so drive back to the front desk and wait in line They did send someone to help us move to another room Our son was to sleep on the pull out sofa, the mattress had a big stain on it, we had to call to get blankets for it, which arrived at 10:35pm Pull a towel from underneath the sink and it has mold on it Back to the front desk where they reimbursed our resort fee and gave us Resort Credit Not knowing how to use that we got instructed by the Front Desk We were able to use it twice but then the computer system went down for the remainder of our stay which means we barely used any of that perk for the inconvenience Would have been nice if they just took the remainder off our bill since there was now no way to use it If the resort credit had been reliable, I would give this place 3⭐️

Tawny Valdez

My family was kind enough to invite us to The Welk Resort for a 3-night stay They got a good price from probably a social media page You know the one that pulls you in

The check-in process was quick, but they really want you to purchase, we weren’t on the list so they even offered us a trip to Hawaii for two in exchange to sit in a presentation Not specified whether it was a round trip nonetheless, we quickly declinedThe resort itself is huge, we arrived on a Tuesday and there was a farmers’ market, quite small but sufficient (I will have pictures and a review of the market on a another page)ProsPool was niceThere was always parkingBBQ stations cleanRooms were clean and amenities sufficientFamily FriendlyConsPlace was hard to find on the mapWater park was extremely crowdedRec room needs renovation not the room itself but the amenities; pool table, ping pong table, shuffle boardIT SHOULD BE NOTED – The last evening there, the power went out and our friends were out of power since 12am, I know they left at 6am but nothing came from the front desk except apologies and no incentives Guess if you’re an owner it doesn’t matter?? Thank goodness we didn’t buy

This is the cutest suites right by the beach There are restaurants And things to do all within walking distance I loved the room, very clean

There’s a small microwave and living space which was perfect for my family of five Highly recommend! The complimentary breakfast was amazing, a little variety for everyone including my children

Absolute wonderful location close to the beach, town, and had sunset views The staff at this location were very nice, helpful and polite The place is very clean and well maintained

We want to give a special thank you to Tracy in the breakfast area for helping us with our gluten free allergies and for having so many options for gluten free people This was the best breakfast bar I have ever seen in all of the hotels I have stayed in Being vegan and gluten free traveling is a challenge and this hotel was amazingly empathetic to that
