We stayed here one night recently and had a positive experience What I liked most about this hotel is that the General Manager and Assistant General Manager were both super hard-working and dedicated to their jobs Those two literally handled the entire breakfast in the morning by themselves (cooking, cleaning, throwing away the garbage, etc) and were super attentive to the customers’ needs

They also mentioned that the two of them personally changed out all the mattresses in the hotel recently by themselves due to the staffing shortage I was beyond impressed and would definitely stay here again if visiting the Waterloo area My kids also enjoyed the pool

Lacey Perez

They didn’t have a roll away bed when we asked, and just something I noticed & definitely not a deal breaker, but our adjoining room had the handy usb box on the desk to charge electronics but ours didn’t, not a big deal just thought it was odd that one would have it and the other did not The kids enjoyed the pool and were up till all hours of the night We surprisingly didn’t get any phone calls from front desk telling us to keep the noise down, so they must have really good sound barriers or really understanding employees and guests lol

Stopped for a night’s sleep before finishing the final 7 hours of our road trip out west I really liked the hard surface floor – rather than the typical questionable carpet The beds were satisfactory

The hide abed couch had some stains, as did the bed spread, but I’m sure those are rarely cleaned I did like how the room had some character – decorated with local college decorWe didn’t see anything special about the breakfast after a quick review (typical hotel ‘breakfast’ offerings), so we got donuts at the gas station

Joy Leet

I can’t even give a star for this hotel We checked in on a Wednesday afternoon and by Thursday night I had 5 bites all over my arms I went to Urgent Care and the Dr said I had a case of bed bugs

The breakfast on Thirsday morning was not fully stocked Coffee was empty and only 1 biscuit was left Eggs were out I did get a full refund but it was a horrible experience My sister-in-law was adjacent to our room and she ended up with 7 bites as well Now I see why this hotel is only 2 star!!!

Craig Dobson

Do not go here Had the worst experience The desk clerk was the rudest I’ve ever seen

Was charged for a room, card was approved, transaction came out of my account, and was refused my room if I didn’t let her bill my card again because the computer didn’t save my information There is a WAY nicer comfort inn 10 minutes away that was 2 dollars cheaper Working with my bank to refute the charges Never staying at anything Wyndam again

Hotel was great We had a suite which was very nice Your people at the front desk though I’d try to look for some more friendly staff

As we were checking in my fiance asked what time the pool area closed and she said at 11 but that rule is mainly for children so if we’d like swimming past 11 would be okay We had been gone for a wedding all day and came back late my fiance wanted to go swimming It was 1030 at the time so he had a half an hour to swim still and a few minutes after 11 and the person from the front desk rudely popped their head in the door and said pool is closed and remained to stand their outside the pool door closest to the bar area watching my fiance swim around for about 10 more minutes until i could get his tipsy self out of the pool where he was having a good time enjoying the water Its not hard to be a nice person regardless of the situation Hotel though no complaints just the people at your front desk

I’ve stayed at this location on one occasion The room was clean, but the tub in the bathroom was aged and had some rusting I’m a travel nurse working nights and when trying to book a second time the staff at this location requested I pay for 3 nights even though I’d only be sleeping during the day for 2 days

I’ve been doing this awhile and this is not standard practice Generally hotels will accommodate and only charge for 2 nights even though it’s a slight inconvenience with the check-in/check out time I’m extremely disappointed with AmericInn and don’t plan on using them in the future

Angela Davis

Booked king premier suiteA/C went out The Front desk clerk said we could switch rooms then demanded a second credit card and entirely new booking

We didnt get into a new room until 2 pm the following day The jacuzzi in the 2nd room was nasty There was a build up of dirt and loose strands of hair not worth the price or the headacheHUGE DISAPPOINTMENT I do not plan to book with them in the future

Really nice hotel It’s under renovations at the moment but despite that, it is really well kept, clean and comfortable It will be gorgeous once the renos are complete

Room is comfortable and clean as well- beds are SUPER comfy I also used the gym/fitness centre- it is very well maintained and quite large for a hotel gymThey also have a really great outdoor seating area

Negatives:Receptionist wasn’t very warm and didn’t explain that we’re charged an initial fee for incidentals I’ve only experienced hotels where they keep your card on file just in case and not precharge you to refund later if neededThe room doors let a lot of sound in

I could hear people splashing and laughing in the pool as I was trying to sleep and my room was not very close to the poolNo bathtub in my room Not sure if this is most rooms or not, but it was only a shower availableBreakfast cost seems a little high at $10 for cold (cereal, etc), or $14 for warm (bacon, sausage, potatoes, eggs, etc)Breakfast was a little confusing It was unclear if we are to seat ourselves first, see staff first to prepay, go to the buffet first and then pay, or if payment was charged to the room and when we communicate thatNote: There is some construction or renovation at the time of this review, but that doesn’t affect my star rating or experiencePositives:Friendly breakfast staff!Tasty breakfast!Clean room!Comfy bed and pillows!

Myself I only went there for the Easter Brunch It was fantastic lots of dishes to choose from Ham,roast beef some sort of chicken dish and fish dish

Full breakfast with waffle station also fresh fruits Great for kids also as they had there own complete with chicken fingers Mac and cheese and corn dogs Lots of deserts Juice and coffee served with meal also I was very happy with what we got only wish they had offered a complimentary mimosa or some sort of a Champaign punch

Because it was Iowa Irish Fest weekend, rooms were much higher than I just saw quoted That price was way more than the room was worth That said, staff we’re friendly and helpful

I rate rooms based on the bed and bathroom This bed was okay The bathroom was well below adequate It was small You couldn’t get in far enough to close the door without squeezing by the toilet They had done something to the floor of the tub, maybe removed a skid-proof adhesive? It was rough and very slick when wet There was a handicap bar outside the tub but nothing inside to hold on to Not a hotel I want to visit again

Paul Morrison

There is a lot I did not like The first is the unfriendly greeting by the reception staff They were indifferent to the fact that I was waiting to check in and were slow to respond to my questions

I was asked to sign a waiver regarding a pet That waiver stated that, if I did not notify them of the fact that a pet would be staying in the room with me, they would charge me as much as $250 When I noted that I had a pet and asked for them to verify that I had notified them of this, it took them a full five minutes to provide that verificationWhile this hotel is “pet friendly” when asked where I could or should walk my dog the staff at the desk had simply shrugged their shoulders and said, “I don’t know” When I went searching for a place to walk the dog all I found was debris laden areas that I would not allow my dog to walk in I ended up having to walk the dog over to another hotel that had nice grounds where I could allow my dog to exercise I don’t find this type of situation as being very “pet friendly”My room was on the first floor From 7pm until nearly 4am the next morning, there were children running up and down the hallway talking loudly and playing Twice during the middle of the night, I attempted to locate the hotel staff and complain and at neither time did I find anyone! At one point, around 2am, I found the children playing on the hotel’s computer near the lobby I told them that it was time they went to their rooms, and they stared at me and then laughed I had a 10-hour drive to make the next morning and needed a good rest I probably did not get more than four hours of sleep that night thanks to the inconsiderate children, and the unresponsive staffThe morning “breakfast” was terrible The bagels were stale, there was no decaffeinated coffee, and there was very little fruit In the end, I spit out the bagel and went down the street to Panera for breakfastWhen I checked out the next morning the reception staff was just as unfriendly as the staff had been at check-inI got charged $25 because I had a dog travelling with me and staying in my room A VERY HIGHLY trained dog that did not disturb anyone and did not cause any “damage” to the room I am sure that if my dog had barked or somehow disturbed another guest I would have been contacted and told to remove the dog Well, what about the children disrupting the sleep of most of the people on the first floor? I am sure their parents did not pay any extra for their stay, but I paid dearly I paid not only more money to have a pet with me – a pet that has more manners than those children or their parent or your staff – and I paid in a lack of rest before a long drive home Further, I paid over $100 for a room AND a continental breakfast yet the breakfast was so bad that I had to go somewhere else for my coffee and morning bagel I will NEVER stay in this hotel again and I will never recommend this hotel to any of my colleagues

MyMarlin2010

I couldn’t decide between 3 or 4 stars as a rating The outside appearance of the hotel is good Clean parking lot and grounds

Upon entry, the first thing I noticed was the spotted, worn looking arm chairs in the lobby When we got on the elevator to go to the 2nd floor, I questioned the functionality as it looked absolutely hideous! I didn’t dare touch the buttons due to how filthy the elevator inside was There were initials carved on the inside of the door along with really gross fingerprints everywhere! The elevator needs some detailed attention to maintenance and cleanliness It looked like it was going to fall apartUpon entry to our room, I was skeptical after the lobby and elevator, but was pleasantly surprised The room was fairly clean with nicely made beds and clean bathroom Great sized TV Wish more motels had bigger TV’s like this oneBreakfast was fine once it was restocked which the gal was working on when we got downstairs for breakfast The floor was VERY STICKY, though and needed attention I understand the shortage of help these days, so not holding that against this place Breakfast consisted of eggs, sausage, and biscuits/gravy Always like to see these options offered, so that was GREAT! Many other options including the usual waffles, bread, bagels, yogurt, and fresh fruit Coffee was good!Probably wouldn’t stay again, only because it’s Waterloo Will stay in Cedar Falls next time

What a great hotel Price was very fair, room was very nice, continental breakfast was very nice But the best part was the people

Mark was very outgoing, made suggestions where to go get a bite to eat The other employees we very pleasant and outgoing I have been all over the USA, and have stayed at some nice hotels, but wow, the customer service was out of the world On a scale of 1 – 10, I would give them an 11 I WILL be back Thanks again to Mark and the others

I would not recommend this hotelI stayed for 3 days on a work trip When I originally checked in, the front desk employee seemed like she was busy doing other things, but I got checked in quickly

Each day I arrived to the hotel from work my room key was deactivated The front desk employee (who seems to be the only person here most of the time) told me they get deactivated every day which I wasn’t told when I checked in This is frustrating when I am carrying things all the way to my room and then have to come back to the front deskCleaning doesn’t seem to be happening very often either Housekeeping didn’t come to my room the entire stay I think I saw that they come every 3 days However, it doesn’t seem like they keep track of housekeeping at all I also saw another guest (while I was waiting for my room key to be activated) saying that the second room he had been given was also not cleaned Meaning he had already tried two rooms that weren’t clean He was told he would have to wait 30 minutesMy room also did not feel not 100% clean when I arrived One night stand had spots on it And one of the top sheets even had a stain on it (major ick) I didn’t say anything to staff because I brought my own pillows, blankets, and a sheet I could lay on and put their sheets and comforter off to the side… I am certain they would have changed the sheets if I waited but not very comforting to say the leastBreakfast was basic, but fine Although I will say after everything else I didn’t feel very confident eating the food that was prepared besides the prepackaged itemsOverall, not a great experience and I won’t be coming back or recommending this hotel to anyone else from my employer

Pat Mosner

Very disappointed with our stay We stayed 4 nights and never had our room cleaned I even asked to have it cleaned even if it was just to take the trash and give us clean towels, but that didn’t even happen

Then to find out that the pool and hot tub have been closed for over a year When checking out our rooms were not at the price we booked and the gal checking us out did not have the skills to correct it(if you cannot fix pricing, then why are you scheduled to check people out) It took me 6 phone calls to get the pricing fixed Needless to say we won’t stay there next year

The rooms are great, they were cleaned very well, and the walk in shower is amazing!! It is a little more on the expensive side, but if you can it’s a great choice to stay at in the Waterloo-cedar falls area It’s located close to all the shopping you might need yet not in the busy downtown area of town which I find to be a plusOnly thing I wish they had were whirlpool suites which is why I gave for stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐

JasonE

I booked weeks in advance and they canceled my reservation a day and a half before I was supposed to make my trip Stay away!!!! Received an email at 3 am I booked this hotel because of a tournament we are attending and wanted to be at the same place as our teammates and somewhat close to the venue

Very unprofessional Now im forced to book much farther away, due to all the hotels in the area being booked out No consideration for time, the extra mileage, and overall headache this now causes being so close to the day of arrival Extremely frustrating Completely done with Fairfield

We went to the hotel for an eventNice meeting rooms Nice desk staff

Clean, inviting, well kept lobby area and meeting roomsBeing a Marriott, I’m sure the rooms would be the same! I love the Marriott

Decent rooms, good breakfast but some staff issues As a gift my parents called before our check in and paid for the room on their credit card When we checked I was asked for a credit card for incidentals

So I submit my card and we went on our way to enjoy our weekend at a family reunion A couple of hours after checking in I checked my bank account and noticed that the room had been charged in full on my card I went to the front desk and spoke to the front desk staff, they looked and realized they made a mistake, they said they fixed the problem and we continued on Sunday morning we had a reciept under our door After reviewing it we noticed that they charged our card for one night and my parents card for one night, this is the second billing mistake that was made So now we are here waiting for our card to be reimbursed $290

Overall pretty nice place The rooms were pretty clean and we got a good price on our room – (around $80 or so) because we used a travel website to get a deal When we were checking in however, someone walked in and asked for the price for a room and was told $140 😳

There’s NO WAY I’d EVER pay that much for this hotelThat being said, the hotel was clean, had a very good breakfast The pool was okay Old and outdated, but functional and cleanThe staff was pleasant, location is great, and they allow dogs and for a very reasonable pet fee which I Greatly appreciateI’d visit again as long as the price was right

chelle gillis

Staff was outstanding, we were greeted with kindness and friendly smiles from the front desk to housekeeping being kind and chatting with our kiddos Hotel is dated, but our room was very clean and breakfast was hot and good Will definitely stay here again when passing through Waterloo

Thank you for a nice stay after a 16 hour travel day!

Joe Momma

I discovered when I went to take a shower that the bathroom drain and toilet hadn’t been cleaned & when you stay longer than a day, they don’t clean your room but if you ask for more towels or toiletries, they will give them to you at the front desk They also have a fitness room and pool It was a bit cold but warmed up after a bit

The manager was very nice and accommodating and the breakfast wasn’t horrible Hot breakfast consists of coffee, scrambled eggs, sausage & Belgian waffles They also have a few different varieties of cereal with 2% milk, yogurt, bagels with cream cheese, and a variety of oatmeal packets I chose to stay here over Super 8 in CF because Wyndham was in a more convenient location to where I worked & had a fitness center The discounted price I found online through Priceline made it worth the stay but was still more expensive by $10 a day

Shout-out to Rex who helped us get our room reserved and helped us understand our boss’s corporate card He had such a wonderful, helpful personality He even remembered me the next morning and made sure we were comfortable and taken care of

The room was spacious and clean and comfortable Normally I hate hotel showers, they’re always small and dark and run down This shower was bright and felt big enough to move without the curtain clinging to you

Mattie Richardson

Overall very satisfied with our stays here, we have family in the area and have stayed a few times Rooms are neat and clean, smell is good, the staff has always been pleasant to work with and I enjoy the amenities available that we use Everything has always been in working order and we have never had an issue with rude patrons or staff

Rooms could use some actual cleaning ! Had to switch roomsBut it’d always a good time when we go just everything is priced way to high! A pack of smokes the lady charged us $18!!! That’s crazy it’s even crazier we paid itIf looking for place to stay look somewhere else if looking to gamble and have good time would recommend

Hailey Kimball

I was a little unimpressed with my stay The checkin lady was very nice but once I got to the bedroom, it definitely was not what I expected There were black scratch marks on the walls and chips in the furniture

The bed was super uncomfortable The CD player/clock was gross looking The only thing nice about it was the bathroom but that wasn’t anything special either especially for the price There were hairs on the walls of the shower so it obviously wasn’t cleaned very well I’ve definitely been to way nicer hotels for half the price plus free breakfast Don’t recommend staying here

Shelby Reinhardt

Check in and check out was perfect However, our room had condom wrappers in trash can upon arrival Our bathroom toilet didn’t flush at times, and shower wouldn’t drain the entire stay (3 days)

We spoke to front desk about the issues, they were every kind and said it would be fixed Unfortunately later that night, it wasn’t Staff at bar in casino and restaurant weren’t very friendly at times Restaurant food was very good! Pool and hot tub were amazing, arcade was fun However, we will not be back

The lady at the front desk was very kind, efficient and assisted me without issue when I asked for a room away from the elevators The room itself was magnificent, large space, beautiful decorations and furnishings I loved the bathroom as well, a lot of good space in there too and great lightning There is no microwave in the room, which I am used to having with other Courtyards so it was a bit different but not a deal breaker, simply treat yourself to a fresh meal The pool and bistro was not available but it did not matter, there were a few good places around on a Sunday evening that offered a great meal and I figure I will just plan to return when the pool is open and it will be an even much better stay than it already was I did leave my hat there, I called in order to retrieve it and both Desire, another hotel employee and Ben, the hotel manager were very great and patient in working with me and thank you to the maid service that took my hat to the front desk so that I could get it back Superb customer service, great surroundings and a relaxing stay while there for business My return will be for leisure I loved this hotel so much Thanks to everyone involved Highly recommend

Nicest Courtyard I’ve ever stayed in However the walls are paper thin If you are a light sleeper AVOID this hotel

It’s a beautiful building; a converted factory into loft-style rooms Overall a wonderful structure with lots of open space in the lobby to sit or socializeThe rooms were clean and the staff were friendlyHowever the rooms are incredibly loudyou can hear every word of the neighboring rooms occupants conversations as well as their TV We were up until 1am listening to the adjoining room’s movie I’ve stayed nearly 700 nights in Marriott properties and this is by far the least sound-proofed hotel of them all Additionally when the room above you decides to shower be prepared for it to sound like a waterfall in your room The loft design keeps the original sewer pipes outside of the walls which also means they are quite loud as wellThe biggest problem here is the initial cost to retrofit this property into a hotel likely leaves the owner with little to no excess capital to invest in sound insulation upgrades In other words don’t expect the sound issues to ever be resolved in this buildingOverall disappointing experience and I would not stay here again

This renovation from factory to hotel was done well The high ceilings and rustic touches help the rooms feel opulent Bathrooms and fruniture are all modern and give an upscale feel

The room was spotless and the staff was great My only negatives with the hotel itself were I could hear my neighbors pretty clearly, the spring bed wasn’t great, and the pillows were awful and go flat immediately I also had to call the lobby just to get the a/c activated in the room, and I still couldn’t control the fan speed I feel I overpaid a bit due to an ordeal in the convention hall, but for around $109 this would be a great choice for a one evening stay
