I have stayed in a LOT of hotels and this one is amazing! The history behind it alone is reason to come back but the interior is a perfect combination of the historic building and modern touches The grounds are pristine and beautiful, good selection of food and beverages in the market, a clean but homey smell throughout I will absolutely be coming back!

Joe King

Wonderful inn Modern touches expertly woven in with older architecture If you like old wooden interiors but the comforts of modern furnishings and bathrooms then this is the place to stay

Very clean as well The Second Chance Bistro offered excellent dinners and breakfasts The staff is very friendly and conversational and very helpful as well Only a short walk from the hotel to the heart of downtown Staunton Look forward to returning there in the spring

The staff were very nice but the actual hotel was not the best Confusing layout, the room was across from housekeeping which would be fine but the room smelled of strong mildew, I’m guessing from the housekeeping room itself The view was also not nice and it was confusing finding a room in the bottom level, overall would have been okay if it was a cheaper price

Not worth the money

When we got to our room, we found that the smell of dog wasn’t to our liking, when I called she QUICKLY gave us a New room and even met us at the elevator to give us updated keys You know things cant be perfect, to me, its how you Correct mistakes that matters!Jacquie even let me get breakfast early and ya GOT to LOVE That!Steve at the desk made sure that my travel would be 10% happier

people who love to be nice should be paid more!

Stephen G

For a non-plus BW, they do a great job Friendly staff greeting upon enteringroom clean and well prepped

no condition in bathroom? What’s up with that? Breakfast is what you would expect from a standard BW, prepackaged stuff to microwave Linens and towels sufficient King bed is starting to cup at edges and should be replacedOverall facilities are well maintained with everything working, but a bit dated, like wallpaperelevator works wellEasy off and on highway or getting to town and shopping center

Lindsay Zolad Coughlan

We stayed one night on the way to our final vacation destination The place is dog friendly but it shouldn’t smell like a kennel The free breakfast was subpar

The shampoo was enough for my head let alone me and my husband The bed was soo hard and the mattress was thin we woke up sore The room was hot and stuffy no matter how much we turned up the air The whole stay was very disappointing On the way back we canceled our stay and switched to a different hotel

My parents and I spent one night here in June of 2020, and while things were limited because of that, I really do appreciate the hotel for trying, and they certainly tried very well! There was no continental breakfast, but we were given a little doggy bag filled with enough breakfast items to make up for it!The gym and pool were closed though We very much enjoyed the room, as it was very spacious with two separate bedrooms, and a large living room

Jim Van Slyke

We stay at a lot of Residence inns and some of them have gone downhill But this location is in great shape Other than a few items of trash that fell behind a nightstand, the room was great

Comfortable bed, quiet room even though the hotel was pretty full Breakfast was better than most Residence inns and there was a lot of variety Gym was clean and the indoor pool was clean and inviting Definitely recommend

Donna Williams

We stayed there on July 29 We were given keys to our room at 1:00pm, but they had not finished cleaning our room We came back at 530pm to what appeared to be a semi cleaned room

Sat down on the couch and the maid walked in on us without knocking, apparently unaware that someone was in the room We asked to be moved to another room that was ready Moved to room 301 where we discover no toilet paper, used washcloths in the shower, used whitestrips in the bathroom drawer and trash behind both night tables I understand being short staffed but do not give out keys to rooms that aren’t clean Its disgusting I have stayed at Marriott hotels my whole life and will be switching chains due to my latest experiences Management at this specific hotel did not seem concerned

The hotel staff was polite and professional both during check in and check out The hotel was conveniently located off the interstate with lots of restaurants and shopping near by The room was warm, clean and inviting upon arrival

I liked how there were dispensers in the bathroom for hand soap, body wash, shampoo and conditioner The bed was not too hard or too soft and the pillows were just right The breakfast was good as well There was a lot of variety: sausage, eggs, cereal, juice and waffles Overall I loved this hotel and would stay here again in the future

Tiffanie G Hairston

I reserved a room here for the indoor pool The pool was closed without any advance warning My daughter and I were dressed for the pool, got down there and a sign on the door said it was closed with no explanation why

Front desk said sorry with no compensation Light fixtures in room were dusty and rusted Water took a long time to get hot for a shower Seemed to be a much older hotel Had to look in the closet for a rack to put suitcase on and blow dryer Those items should be out But the room didn’t have any bugs and bathroom was clean We won’t be back

Beautiful hotel! Hotel lobby attendant David checked my husband and I in David was very professional, friendly and informative We stayed one night in the old wing of the hotel

Room was cozy Just perfect for the two of us Both the room and bathroom were clean, and the bed mattress and bed linens were very comfortable Thick bath towels were great too We will definitely be returning for another stay at Hotel 24 South!

jeanette andonian

Perfect location, clean, well-appointed room, friendly/helpful staff, comfortable king sized bed, convenient parking in garage under the hotel We stayed for 3 nights and explored the Staunton & the Shenandoah Valley region Was a great home base for our visit

Don’t expect to dine at the hotel as the restaurant isn’t open, but they have basic breakfast items available each morning (coffee, yogurt, fruit, etc) and there are plenty of nice lunch & dinner options in the downtown area, right around the corner from the hotel, just steps away Then hotel even has laundry facilities for guests, if needed, which was convenient for us since we were on a long road trip through the south We will return for sure!

Janet Fiorentino

We were able to secure a review at the last minute when our original reservation at another destination was cancelled The hotel was dog friendly and located in the historical area of Staunton Lots of restaurants, shops, bars, etc

within walking distance It’s an older hotel but updated, yet still keeps it charm You park at a nearby garage for a nominal fee a day I found the hotel staff very friendly You can get breakfast in the morning for a fee and the hotel has a bar on Friday and Saturday nights There is also an onsite gym Room comfortable–there were a few stains on the rug, but it was a pet friendly room My only complaint was minor–when getting into bed, we noticed the sheet (under the comforter) was wet We guessed perhaps the housekeeper did not change sheets after the last persons checked out and just straightened the comforter on top I called the front desk and they handled the situation quite professionally They brought us fresh sheets and had brand new sheets put on the bed the next morning I know many places are having to cut down on housekeeping staff, so I don’t fault them for the mistake–I appreciate how they handled it

I have traveled a lot in the past few years and this place has hands down the best service I have ever experienced at a hotel Everyone from the front desk staff to the house keepers were happy, welcoming, and very accommodating The property itself is also nice and well kept, with easy access to historic downtown and outdoor activities

Highly recommend

This is a wonderful Hampton Inn I arrived late as usual but Izzy made me feel right at home She answered all of my questions and even offered great suggestions of places to see and do

I had already stayed in the area, so I was already familiar – her suggestions were spot on ALL of the staff were wonderful, gracious, and attentive to customer service Every time I called, they answered the phone – it wasn’t some main line service They made the stay so comfortable that other guests had a cameraderie which is a bonus It’s like staying with friends and that is just how I like it The rooms were clean and comfortable The hotel has posted suggestions on being environmentally responsible The location accessible to highways and also central to attractions A wonderful experience

This place is lovely! Makes you feel like staying at your own house We stayed at the Colonel Room and it was perfect There was enough room for my two kids to stretch and play

It also comes with a twin bed for the kids to sleep The room was clean and the beds are very comfortable The breakfast is great! It’s gourmet! We didn’t hang around through the day because we were exploring the area but I’m sure it would have been super relaxing as the atmosphere is very welcoming The inn is about 20 mins to Wintergreen Resort and there are multiple local restaurants nearby, including a dollar general and a hardware store were we were able to buy sleds I totally recommend thisPlace!

Chynna Shirah

This was our first Bed and Breakfast experience and we LOVED it! The staff was so friendly and accommodating Andrew prepared breakfast each morning and is such a talented chef There are lots of breweries and wineries around the Inn and the views are beautiful

*This has nothing to do with the Inn – The only minor issue we experienced was with ordering Lyft and Uber because the phone signal is really bad up there*We had the best weekend getaway and will definitely be returning and recommending it to our friends and family Also we loved the cat lol!

We have not even spent the night yet and I have nothing but great things to say about this place Booking was simple and received information day before When we arrived Megan met up with us and she was extremely kind and helpful

She gave us a tour of the beautiful property and some general info about the place She also provided with us with everything we need to make our stay comfortable It is very clean and beautifully decorated A lot of decor I noticed was from England where I’m originally from, which really brought me back to home You can sit outside, drink coffee and watch the cows If I was to ever get married again I would definitely consider this place The room is big but very homely I just adore this place and will be back! Thank you for accommodating us at your lovely place!

Met up with a buddy for Fourth of July weekend and decided to stayed here The hotel itself looks great and is very clean Friendly staff and plenty of breakfast options

Conveniently off of I-81 and I-64 and just a short drive to the southern end of Shenandoah National Park (A must if you are visiting the area) Only thing that I would say is that the bed in the room was not as comfy, but manageable Overall, great place to stay for a short getaway I would recommend

Elaine Shaw

It was a halfway point on a long trip, and in the past I’ve stayed at “economic” places that were just down right nasty It was well worth spending a little more to stay at Comfort Inn! The woman at the desk at check in was awesome! Room was clean, bathroom was huge, AC worked great, and bed was super comfy! I would’ve given 5 stars but there was no regular coffee or creamer in the room for the coffeemaker, and evidently the last person that stayed left her false eyelashes behind, eww

Gino U.

No complaints with this place Room was clean, everything around it was clean and the lady at the front desk was wonderful and let me check in early after I explained my situation to her Great location near the highway as well but not close enough to hear a lot of traffic (at least I didn’t notice it)

Would recommend to anyone staying in the area

LOVE staying here! It’s beautiful and the Staff are friendly If you stop by the Office, they will happily give you trail recommendations or any info you need OR if you want to be alone, each cabin feels private

It’s rural and rustic but had everything we needed for a romantic getaway We’ve come 2 years in a row, and we will come back next year

Cris Landa

We had a really lovely time staying at Montfair Farms It’s a rustic, peaceful getaway at the near Shenandoah National Park The trails on the property are really nice along with its proximity to places like Sugar Hollow

We stayed in cabin #3 with our 1 year old and dog, Charley We’d love to return some day and will be recommending it to friends!

Catherine Weston

Loved this find! I spontaneously wanted to do something special for valentine’s day after what’s been a very stressful year; this was such an awesome DOG FRIENDLY find! We were able to bring our fuzz ball with us (who loved the property, all the animals, and the dog cover for the futon 😉) as we toured the local wineries, explored Charlottesville and did what we love most — stayed in a rustic cabin The staff was super friendly and the cabin was the perfect unplugged getaway The only thing I wished for was at least a broom to help tidy up from the insane amount of mud — we would have loved to help!

Recently went here after not going for several years, but I don’t think I’ll be going back It may be great if you’re an owner there, but for the public lift lines were simply too longI’ve been skiing for here for 35 years and never had lines this long here, even on holidays

And yes, I know one of the benefits of being an owner is to get quick-pass through lift lines, but when I see the same owners go through the line 5 times during my wait, it starts to seem a bit extremeBefore you even get to the slopes, you’ll need to find a parking spot I recommend getting there early because finding a parking spot was a nightmare The owner’s lot was of course not even half full all day, seems like it could have been better utilized These things aren’t the owner’s fault and I don’t begrudge them the privileges they paid for, this was a failure of Wintergreen to manage their resourcesI wasn’t real thrilled with lift operations safety either I worked at Wintergreen in high school, so I understand you don’t want slow down or stop the lifts unless you really have to, but some of the lift attendants were either not paying attention or didn’t know their role I saw several instances, and was involved in one where they kept the lift moving and were unloading people off at the top when someone had fallen the off-ramp Was there some room to get around them? Sure, but trying to get 5 people off a lift and all the way over to one side is pretty much impossible in 10 ftI could go on about how I was told to buy the non-refundable lift tickets before renting skis, only to find out they were sold out of skis, or about the somewhat ridiculous lack of seating in the restaurants, but I think you get the pictureThey get 2 stars because the snow was great and there weren’t any real ice patches, but next time I’m going to just drive the few extra hours and go to Snowshoe – the good just doesn’t outweigh the bad anymore

Beware If you do not get your equipment rental LOCKED down there is ZERO ability to get ANY refund for your lift tickets Rigidity at the utmost

Son purchased a lift ticket as gift to girlfriend, drove from Louisville, KY stayed, spent money in the area, etc, and when no equipment was available was not refunded at all, not even partially No equipment anywhere No rain check, no voucher Keith made it clear that refunds for injury or military deployment was available, so good news if you are called to war or break a leg you are good! The long legalese is there in fine print when you roll to the bottom of the agreement that you check off, so be sure to do that while standing in a 50 deep person line A voucher or something would’ve ensured more rolling into Nelson Co at a later date but I’m sure tourism folks and chamber will be glad to know of the taste left in mouths of visitors Beware poor college students #daysofcustomerservicearegone

I had a positive experience staying at this hotel both on the way down and on the way back from an NC road trip It is in a more quiet area of Virginia which was exactly what I needed The front desk staff were always very nice and accommodating, and it is pet friendly which I needed

They have a nice coffee and tea area around the clock which was great to make use of before I left in the morning I found it easy to find and ample room for parking Would stay here again 😊PS Don’t bother with the Frontier museum that’s nearby I tried it and did not have a positive experience / would not recommend

Enjoyed a delicious continental breakfast thanks to the woman who maintains the breakfast room Our free breakfast options included: 3 fruit juices, 1 flavored water, make-your-own Belgian waffles (my favorite), muffins, yogurts, breakfast sandwiches, breakfast burritos, hard boiled eggs, fresh fruit, a variety of dry cereals, coffee, and tea This sweet lady kept cleaning tables and restocking supplies as we ate

Seems she’s been here for years This is one of our regular overnight stops when we travel back to New York State because they participate in the Hotel Coupon booklet and because we are assured of a bountiful breakfast, at no extra charge- Laura & Mark VanValkenburgMyrtle Beach, SC

Room 122 smells like a musty basement AC does not run consistently May be a factor in the mustiness

Had to turn it off and back on to kick back on Half the outlets in the bathroom did not work It was pretty noisy We were told it was because of all the graduations Definitely not the place to get to ” sleep inn” Front desk gals were very nice

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel The manager was filling in overnight when we checked it, and she was very friendly and helpful All other interactions with the staff were very positive, a few people went out of their way to make sure guests were taken care of (housekeeping and kitchen staff)

We were traveling with a dog – not only is the hotel pet friendly, the staff really seemed to enjoy having them around This hotel does not have carpet, and the beds are solid so pets cannot hide underneath, which makes traveling with them a lot easier We will be back next time we are traveling this route!

On the plus side, the staff was extremely courteous, the location was easy on and off the highway, and the room was spotless There was a huge TV and USB charging stations near the bedHOWEVER it is 3am as I write this review from my room because there is SO MUCH NOISE FROM OTHER ROOMS!!! The walls are paper thin

There is a group of kids above us or beside us that keep stomping around and talking/yelling I have yet to sleep tonight, and since this overnight was in the middle of a 12+ hour road trip, it will not be fun second half of the driveAdditionally, the fact that this hotel is more expensive than others in the area but you have to walk next door for a pool is kind of ridiculous (and the hotel next door would have been cheaper to stay at) Also, the rooms are terribly small! Pretty much walk to wall beds and a small walk way from the doorOverall, staff was super friendly and the breakfast was great however, I would NOT recommend this hotel with so many others at a better price point in the area (unless you want to be up-charged for modern style)

Room was clean and well appointed, and breakfast was good, as expected for a Hilton However, the woman working the front desk when we checked in was quite rude She argued with us that we were already checked in, even though we had just arrived

We explained we weren’t and didn’t have any keys to the room She expressed clear frustration over having to check us in Then I asked if I could have a plastic spoon, as I couldn’t find any in the lobby coffee area She made a huge deal over this request, telling me that the spoons are really reserved for breakfast and that if she was to give out spoons to everyone who wanted them, the hotel would be giving away hundreds of spoons I’m sorry, but I don’t think a request for a plastic spoon is out of the realm of expectations for Hilton’s service and price point She did eventually give me the spoon, after ensuring I heard her full rant on the matter I’ve stayed at many Hilton properties Never encountered a front desk person like this!

I was traveling under the worst of circumstances, a death in the family I had so many things go wrong trying to make arrangements for travel and all it entails This hotel was such an oasis

The night clerk Travis was amazing at making sure I had everything I needed The room was spacious, clean, and more than I needed The price was really great for the room I would recommend this hotel anytime you’re in the area Hands down , the best service and value in the area

My husband and I were highly impressed with this hotel! The highlight was Gloria at the front desk She went above and beyond to make our stay special and gave us recommendations on where to go in Staunton The view is great and it’s worth getting a suite with a mountain view! We were there when it was snowing and sat in the window and enjoyed the view and the snow coming down

We did feel like our bathroom wasn’t as clean as it could have been, but maybe we just caught them on an off day Overall, this hotel exceeded our expectations at this price point The breakfast, while nothing spectacular, is included and we were thankful they were even offering a warm breakfast, since a lot of hotels these days offer only light snacks because of Covid They even put warm chocolate cookies out at 8pm every night! Thank you Gloria for being so welcoming and friendly to us! You made our weekend getaway special! We will definitely be back!
