We really enjoyed our stay at this property It was my first time staying at a Courtyard The hotel was very quiet and exceptionally clean

We were granted an early check-in which we requested when we booked the reservation Housekeeping comes every other day as stated in the confirmation email prior to checking in We needed additional bath linens and housekeeping was quick to bring them to us They all seemed to be working very hard and were friendlyThe website photos of the king room are accurate so I didn’t bother taking any to add to the reviewThe room has lots of outlets in very convenient locations and I was able to do my hair in front of the mirrored closet door while my husband showeredThe pool is a bit small and can get crowded on the weekends but it was very pleasant when I used it on MondayThe buffet breakfast is very good The guys that run the bistro friendly and helpfulThe hotel is the quietest one I’ve ever stayed at and the air conditioner helps with white noise If you set it low enough it will run all night It doesn’t cycle on and off every 3 minutes like some do at other hotels I slept better than I do at home The bed is super comfortable Because of this, I will try to book at Courtyard properties in the futureThe balcony doors are cloudy as stated in other reviews and this doesn’t make for the best view from inside the room Salt air is hard on things so it may be etching from that or maybe the seal failed but the door worked fine and we enjoyed the balconyEach room has a fridge and there is a microwave and ice machine on each floorThe hotel is located right on the boardwalk but it really wasn’t noisy The music stops about 10pm and it didn’t bother us There are plenty of places to eat within walking distance so once we parked upon arrival, we didn’t use the car again until we leftIf you are looking for a great place to stay at Carolina Beach, this is it

KaraLeigh

This Marriott has all beach view rooms where you can lay in bed & see the ocean from your room or go out on the balcony for even better views🌊 Not the newest or most updated Marriott we’ve been to but the cleanliness, service & dining options made up for it😘 At check-in, we got fantastic recommendations for dining in the area & had a pleasant stay Parking was easy & the hotel is within walking distance to everything you could want to enhance your beach vacation⛱️ The pool looked fun but we didn’t get a chance to enjoy it this time🏊 We look forward to staying here again!

Giving two stars for the polite employees and location!! The room was not ready when we arrived @4 for check in Waited till 5 still not ready! We had dinner plans with friends so just left and would check in later!! The restroom in lobby was very dirty, thinking they were busy cleaning the rooms so gave them the benefit of the doubt! Well they definitely didn’t clean the room we had!! The shower drain was full of hair, the coffee table had so much dust on the bottom legs that there is No way that thing has been wiped in a month and food crumbs all over the floor! Mentioned it to the gentleman at check out and all he could say was well did you call down! Well at 10 at night when we finally returned to check in I just wanted to sleep after traveling all day! Maybe if the room was ready @ check in time I would have done that! Sorry just clean the rooms! Definitely not up to Marriott standards

I really enjoy this place It is right on the beach and staying here really helps beat the traffic and trying to find close parking spots to the beach, that alone is worth the money The rooms are spacious and the kitchenette has saved us many times from having to leave to eat a hot meal

You really appreciate the convenience when you have cranky hungry kids after a long day at the beach We have been coming here for nearly 8 years The staff do not linger but are there if you need them which is a great plus Parking is tight but they have a spacious overflow lot if you can’t park(like me)

Kerri

45 stars This was a great little motel right on the beach

All of the rooms have balconies with ocean views The kitchenette was really helpful since my husband and I prefer to not to eat out with the babyI deducted half a star because the coffee maker in the room was not a regular drip coffee maker It was a single serve drip that required specific coffee bags (provided) that I thought were awful To be fair, the coffee maker at the front desk was great, but the office is locked until 7am (I am an early riser)The Silver Gull was easy to find/drive to, and it had on-site parkingThe price was incredible for what you get I’d highly recommend it!

Christopher Martian

This place has been updated really well in the past few years Super clean you can see the ocean from the balconies that each room has

walk out of the hotel right to the beach Only downside, it’s pretty expensive for a motel but, you can’t beat the location They almost always have rooms available Parking is covered and free to guests

I can’t speak on the average night stay, however we recently had our wedding there and if I could scream it to any bride considering having their event there I would beg her to turn around and run From the beginning after the contract was signed it was nearly impossible to get responses from our event Coordinator, and if we had multiple questions after a week we may get one response and still have to follow up with the other questions Trying to schedule our detail appointment took almost a month of back and forth and having to reschedule because of all the lack of communication

We did an all inclusive package but I immediately regretted not being able to outsource services as I got about the same response from the florist included Although my flowers turned out beautiful they were nothing like I had asked for or shown The signage was also wrong the day of, and my mother in law tried to have it corrected but was told nothing could be changed without the sales coordinator who wasn’t in yet, so the signs stayed incorrect which led to guests entering late on the ceremony The day of the wedding my event coordinator didn’t contact me all day to where an hour before the wedding I had to reach out to her to ask her what the plan was and in the end I missed my entrance due to being left in a separate room and ended up having to run to my entrance late, fluster disheveled Not a single decent picture was taken of me walking down the isle She left maybe 30 minutes into the reception, where we had to constantly ask the kitchen staff for assistance with anything I will say the food was amazing and the kitchen staff was so friendly and accommodating to help us the rest of the evening so they’re really the only reason I didn’t give a one star The baker that was used was also wonderful, the cake was exactly what we talked about and the communication was quick and professional All in all the venue is beautiful and the food is amazing, but do not hold an event there!

Sylvia Balli

I enjoyed the locate and the view from the hotel There were some surprising details like no coffee machine in my room, and the conditioner container was empty, no microwave With the luxury price of the room I wished that there was a little more attention to detail

It felt as though it was a old hotel aiming for a face-lift Outside of that the staff was so kind, beautiful restaurant and in walking distance to downtown

Delicia Pinero

My experience here was excellent Mrs Erica at the front desk showed exceptional customer service and professionalism! We told her we were visiting from Texas and she made sure that everything was lined up for us

She went above and beyond and I will never forget her kindness after a long, hard trip The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are nice I will definitely be back

Stayed here for an air bnb Definitely wouldn’t have stayed had my wife and I not split the price with another couple The location is very convenient for downtown and has a great view of the Battleship with a cute little balcony to sit in/on

Place seemed clean for the most part One of the blankets had some dirt on it where you could tell it hadn’t even properly washed if at all It was cute, really, but definitely overpriced

Marquis Mclean

To place seemed to need a little bit of love, stove light didn’t work, The door keypad kind of just did its own thing always took atleast 3minutes to get into the room because of it, sink drained slow the hallway lights were mismatched I only informed them of the hanging fire alarm and that was the only time I didn’t get a reply other then that it was pretty comfortable

Barb Stoops

i have not stayed at Water Street but was interested Unfortunately, I have not been able to get a response to my questions I tried to email but the email address given is apparently incorrect

I have also called twice and could not immediately get an answer to 2 simple questions They took my phone number and said they would call back Never did This lack of response has made me decide to not pursue a reservation If customer service is this bad, I certainly would not make a reservation

Unfortunately we had a very bad experience here without even booking a room My colleagues and I were searching for a place to stay in a pinch We later drove by Summer Sands and saw the vacancy sign

We proceeded to call and inquire about the available rooms and Sam, in great detail described the rooms available He then asked the age of the 4 women who would be staying in the room Once we gave that information he quickly told us there were no rooms available and hurried off the phone It is an awful feeling to know that a hotel would turn down business because of age or gender

Greg Hillman

Great convenient location, right off the causeway bridge, steps from the beach, the causeway, restuarants, etc Beautiful sunsets from the balcony if you stay on west side of complex Terrific and very helpful staff

Nice pool Very clean and comfortable rooms If I’m forced to pick a negative, there is a lot of road traffic, noise on west side of property during busy times, not a big issue I Highly recommend!!

I had a wonderful stay here and will definitely book here again The pricing was nice for the service and accommodations that you receive Check in is simple and easy, you have a code for your room

If you need anything there’s a number to call and they bring it right out It was raining and we needed something and our housekeeper came by and left it by the door How nice! Also, it’s in a great and quiet location I felt safe and comfortable here

Meagan Grimes

This is our second time staying at the beach house We love coming here and convinced a few friends to book some rooms and join us for vacation this year The property is well-maintained and housekeeping was great

I really like the text system for allowing them meet our needs as far as new towels and stuff Our room was very clean and the quick access to the beach as well as ample parking space and pool make this an excellent choice for staying beach front in Carolina Beach

Laurie Neese

We always enjoy staying here But spending over $1000 on 4 nights and having to listen to construction 24/7 below us wasnt funI feel like this heavy construction could have been done during the off season !! The staff are very friendly and the rooms are very clean

But paying that much money and having to text the day before for maid service is also a little bit ridiculous

Terrible experience I was not allowed to use my Wyndham credit card at this location because I had not yet received it in the mail and the front desk would not allow me to check in without the card present I booked a very nice King suite and drove to town to find out I could not stay there

After spending nearly an hour on the phone with 10 different departments, including Barclay, I was told it should not be an issue but was still refused – assuming because they are afraid of a charge back? I felt like the front desk sized me up and made a call about me based on appearance I was so ready to drop $400 on a very nice room for myself I could have used my debit card but refused out of principle that they were turning me away from using their own brand’s card I chose to cancel my reservation and stay in a dodgy part of town at a much cheaper Wyndham I feel like the gentleman at the front desk understood my frustration but his GM would not budge I will be incredibly upset if they charge me for the first night since I cancelled after the check in time considering there was nothing in the reservation information stating I could not use my Wyndham card if it was not present Further – when my card DOES come in the mail, I will absolutely refuse to stay at this location I planned to stay here in September with my family for a week but I know these hotels are privately owned and I am so upset at being turned away after getting all the way here; I can’t in good conscience give them my money

Karrin Reed

Hotel was conveniently located about 10 min from downtown and 10 min from the beach Room was reasonably priced and clean It even was big enough for a couch which was nice

Wish there were 2 nightstands by the king bed Breakfast wasn’t much to write home about The pool was also closed and we didn’t know this, so that was a little annoying, but overall we had a good stay!

Jennifer Salisbury

Overall cleanliness is 5/5 The cleaning staff and some of the front desk staff are friendly We weren’t told they were not doing daily cleaning unless your doing a three day minimum stay

Okay, that’s fine The breakfast was bare minimum The fruit was over picked and old They only had sausage biscuits and egg biscuits and some cereal My husband and I were staying with two small children I asked to have our trash cans emptied (there are only two very small trash cans in the room) The front desk attendant proceeded to tell me we had to change out our own trash-I looked at her like she was crazy Only after I disagreed did she say she would let the staff know Smh Again-overall cleanliness was great But the breakfast, room cleaning, and customer service left a lot to be desired

Wonderful week at the beach! Location was perfect right on the beach and the boardwalk! The free breakfast was also a great plus The pool was only 4ft deep and easy for the little ones to enjoy without being confined to one small end The pool bar was nice for an evening cocktail while the little ones enjoyed the pool

Kudos to the ladies that prepped the breakfast every morningthey had something for everyonecereal, toast, bagels, 2 make your own waffle stations, scrambled eggs, potatoes, omelets, bacon, sausage and delicious fresh coffee! All the breakfast ladies were great but I want to give a BIG shout out to Miss Lisa such a great personality with a great sense of humor she was so much fun Thank you Lisa, I can tell you really love your job and Hampton Inn and Suites is so fortunate to have you! This is a very nice hotel I took my kids here for a little family trip The breakfast was good and the staff was very nice

However, there was one man staying there on business while we were there and he was always making rude comments to people including the staff He even started saying inappropriate things to me and at one point said something inappropriate while my daughter was standing right beside me It took everything in me not to curse him out Anyway, when I told the front desk about him they new exactly who I was talking about and seemed apologetic, but didn’t offer anything to say “Hey, we are sorry you had to experience that” So I am a little disappointed in the way that was handled I spent almost $700 for those 4 days and had to deal with that man a few different occasions Other than that, my kids and I loved the hotel and loved the staff But that situation should have been handled a lot better

Sheila Randolph

The hotel and the location was great Near everything we wanted to go The receptionist upon our first arrival was not welcoming at all

As soon as I walked in and told her I was checking in she made an unpleasant face and said no rooms are ready come back at 3, mind you it was 2:40 She never bothered to even check for a room It left me with an unwelcoming feeling She did not leave a good first impression of the hotel When we returned we were so thankful that someone else was at the front desk

Leianna Cox

I don’t know how they could have any less than 5 star reviews The rooms are very nice and comfortable Very clean

The pool is heated and absolutely lovely The outside sitting area is perfect for reading a book while your kids swim They serve a 5 star breakfast 😋 the food was wonderful All the staff was very friendly We will be staying here again Also the location is perfect not far from the beach

Room was clean but definitely needs some upgrades No electrical outlets in bathroom which is highly inconvenient Hard to dry hair and style hair while sitting on a bed away from any mirrorAppliances need updated refrigerator was rusted on outside handle dirty and stove wasn’t fit to cook on burners falling apart

And if your going to charge ocean view for room maybe they should see the ocean Lower ocean view rooms only seen the dunes and few treesAnd they need to spend more time cleaning the property beer bottles toys old clothes and trash in the yard off the balcony

Very nice golf track! Played several times in February Place is well maintained with nice greens (Bermuda), impeccable sand traps, fairways, rough, and tees as you’d want Relatively narrow in many spots, more water than you might want, many greens have a slope away on your approach, so bring your short game! Highly recommend this course!

Dena Dooley

Quiet, but rooms need to be updated We had issues with the toilet and no maintenance on staff Desk clerk left us with a plunger rather than move us to another room

Quick service by maintenance the next morning when the issue recurred Still not fully happy about that whole situation 5 miles from Caroling Beach Boardwalk which was nice Nice quiet pool area only open for guests

Kim Little

Beautiful place with tons of Southern Charm Extremely affordable, private pool for guests only 5 miles from the beach

Wonderful and friendly staff Separate living room with TV and great WIFI Kitchen area had fridge, microwave and coffee maker with coffee and add ins available Bathroom had a double sink and the shower had great water pressure Patio off the back of the room with a beautiful view Nice and quiet, safest location possible Nestled at the back of a subdivion

The best beach in NC, IMHO and given the locations we’ve visited thus far One of a few beaches where waves are low and toddlers are safe to wade Tons of shells and tide pools make for great fun with little kids in tow

The hotel has amazing views, solid room setup and the pools and hot tubs we absolutely loved The bar had decent eating and drinking options too Highly recommend, especially with kids!

Jamie

Great spot at the end of the strip so the beach isn’t super crowded however you are more than a walk to the local night life if that’s what you like The hotel attracts mostly families with young kids and us two pools This is an affordable family location in a safe pretty spot

The draw backs are the age of the hotel It doesn’t seem to be update or kept up Our mattress was springy you can see nail holes and scuff marks on every piece of trim Rust dirt hallways with paint chips everywhere Overall I can overlook all that for the location but the staffing is an issue It seems like I’m my four days here they have the same tired overworked employees running the desks They are super friendly but you feel bad for them The bar/restaurant isn’t worth your time(if you can even catch them in the brief few hours they are open) Expect overpriced Denny’s food and a wait staff/bar tenders with no personality If you want the beach at low cost for this are then she’ll island is your place I think they could turn this place around with a fresh menu, some more employees, a little paint and elbow grease and actually open up the amenities they have downstairs I gave three stars because it is a good location and there are some employees who are trying their hardest to keep the guests happy I took two stars off for the upkeep of the hotel and the noise level in the rooms as well as the poor experiences with the restaurant

We’ve come here for decades Great location Terrible rooms

the past two years, the linens and finishes in the rooms are just not acceptable We arrived last night and found stained bed linens and hair in the sheets Walked down to the front desk and had to wait on clean linens Apparently they were “out” and some needed to be laundered? When they arrived, we received queen sized sheets we were on the top floor in a king suite The paint is pretty nasty on all trim, doors, high-touch areas It’s just hard to pay nearly $400 per night for a place that feels forgotten and dirty To the owner of unit 914: yuck I feel like such a special place we’ve treasured for years is just a nasty hotel with great views and oceanfront location Yuck

Everything was perfect about our visit The ease of communication, remote check in, and parking The room was lovely

Very tasteful, modern and clean decor You can not beat the location; downtown, by the river walk yet serene and peaceful Loved the small touches that set a part a small boutique hotel compared to others Everything was 5 star worthy

Every aspect of my stay exceeded my expectations Something that really added a special touch was the wine in my room after a really long day The room was clean and spacious

The staff were very friendly and attentive The inn it self is located in a great location, close to nice restaurants and shopping or a walk along the river Or just enjoy the quiet time at the Inn I would highly recommend the Front Street Inn, if you are planning a trip to the Wilmington area

Anniversary stay end of December 2021/ -early January 2022 We love Wrightsville Beach and the Surf Suites! Fell in love with the nice, private balcony that we were able to enjoy our entire stay due to unseasonably warm temperatures for January Rooms are clean and were just right for us

Location can’t be beat Can’t wait to return for our summer staycation!

Immediately upon entering the suite, we were overcome with a vile odor of mold, mildew and cigarette smoke We had travelled from out of town and had to be at a wedding reception at the Yacht Club in 1/2 hour, so we had no time to deal with a room change We turned the a/c off to prevent continuous circulation of the same nasty odor and opened the porch doors in attempt to air the place out while gone

No such luck! The odor was just as bad Went to the office to request air freshener, which she could not locate The clerk offered to move us to the room below, which we politely declined, knowing well we could run into the same issue & we were too tired We slept with the a/c off, porch sliders open and awoke to the same odor, along with the occupants below smoking on their porchAfter packing our car & stopping to eat and run a few errands-our car and all our belongings have acquired the same offensive odor Needless to say, we will never stay at the Surf Suites again, nor recommend to our many Wilmington friends to offer it as an option for out of town guests By far-the most disappointing stay we’ve ever hadOther than the beautiful view of the gorgeous beach we spent most days enjoying while living there 20+ years BEYOND DISAPPOINTED

What a fantastic hotel! I’m a lifetime elite member, but I never assume anything, and rarely ask for anything extra To my complete surprise, we got an upgrade without even asking, fantastic service, and the rooftop tapas bar was fantastic The front desk associates were so helpful every time we had a question, the parking was easy (we chose self-parking), and the location was highly walkable

Everything about this hotel was superlative, and I recommend it highly Great location, fantastic food, just lovely all around!

The location of this hotel is incredible It is right on the river walk and close to all of the restaurants and shops We didn’t even have to use our car during our stay

The rooms were beautiful and ours had a great view There is also a nice rooftop bar and a lot of fun games and lounging areas downstairs and outside If we come back to Wilmington we will definitely be staying here again!

I stay in Aloft hotels any time I can They are usually a great way to make sure you are in the heart of a city and in walking distance to everything This one is super cute and was made into old mill buildings

Near the water and adorable, with a great outdoor space No pool in this one, and the parking is a little challenging I think my issue here is that the staff are not overly accommodating, where previous Aloft stays they seemed to bend over backwards The valets were the only friendly part, staff wise Great breakfast Comfortable beds

I wanted to love this hotel Fellow guests were great, atmosphere was great Breakfast was awesome, three waffle makers

Three issues – TV didn’t work, the front desk came and fixed it But once I turned the TV off, I couldn’t get it working again in the morning The second issue was the cleanness of the bathroom I have a two hair rule, this bathroom and shower exceeded that by four hairs The third was the glaze on the ottoman in front of the coach Not even going to speculate on that one

I had a really good experience with this hotel Home2 is always one of my favorite Hilton brands for longer stays since they have a full(ish) kitchen in the rooms The hotel was clean and quiet

The service was great All of the staff I encountered were friendly and helpful I also love that they are pet friendly, as I was traveling with my cats during a relocation

I’ve stayed at this hotel 3 times now, it’s one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at, especially for the price! Nice low average cost for what they offer and etc Walking into the room, it smells so fresh and clean and very cute and updated ( you know how some hotels are stuck in the past with their ugly designs lol, not this place! ) , you forget you’re at a hotel! The hotel it’s self is very pretty with a nice seating area The rooms are very spacious and have full body shampoo etc in the glass showers

Has a great variety of hot and cold breakfast items Love the waffle bar! I also like that they over turkey sausage items( I don’t eat pork ) The front desk people have always been so friendly and nice, and I’ve never had an issue! 10/10 would recommend
