My family and I stayed here for 40 days after the purchase of a house fell through and we needed to find another home Due to the length of our stay the team at Residence South was able to work out a great rate for us to rent 2 rooms during this period of time on very short notice My wife and I have 6 kids with us and though nothing is as good as having the family in our own home, the team at Residence South were so helpful in making our stay as enjoyable as possible

There were a few issues with the rooms from time to time but nothing a simple mechanic or janitorial fix could not resolve Overall the rooms were adequate and modern The actual one-bedroom unit has a dedicated oven, though small, that came in handy for the long haul The number one reason I give this hotel a five-star review is solely due to the staff and the Customer Service experience From the cleaning crew to the front desk and management team, all have been a joy to work with My two-year-old son even became fond of Cecilia and knew her by name They became good buddies over the 40-day period To this day, now that we are finally in our own home he continues to ask about her Thank you all for such a pleasant stay during our family’s difficult time I would recommend this hotel to any family that is in need of extended-stay accommodation in the Cedar Rapids area

Destiny Rae

Friendly service, fantastic suites, decent continental breakfast They always ask me what floor I prefer and do their best to accommodate The rooms have their own thermostat, coffee, dishwasher, glass stovetop, ice maker, large fridge, and a walk in shower

I wish the beds were softer, but I can say I’ve never woken up with back pain after staying in!

8 month battle with this place with no resolution!! Absolutely no value in customer service Still waiting for my $350+ refund!!!Booked to stay here back in July 2021, upon arrival was told that there was no room for me due to a system glitch and could go to the holiday inn on Collins and my room would be covered and I would not need to pay anything once i got there Great right? Things happen and you are making it right so I’m cool with the situation

Turns out I did have to pay, was told I’d be refunded within two weeks 8 MONTHS LATER still nothing! Every time I call the hotel, no one can help me so they take my info and say someone will call me back BUT NOONE EVER DOES Marriott customer service now tells me there is “nothing else they can do for me” since this hotel states they paid the holiday inn so they could refund me However, the holiday inn states they have no record of this payment, will not process the refund because of it, and no one from this hotel can provide proof of payment or even return a phone call!!!Absolutely ridiculous that I now loose over $350 on a stay that was supposed to be free since I had booked with points, and not a single person wants to take any steps to helpGreat to know that a company like this is happy to do nothing when times are already tough enough and every penny we earn is crucial to our lives Will never stay with this franchise again!

This hotel is in a bad need of upgrading Our room was spacious and comfortable except for the bathroom One of the light fixtures had rust on it

The tub had a rust stain which may have been caused from endless dripping of the faucet The hook on the back of the for towels had been removed and not replaced The grout on the tub was gross We had a new refrigerator in the room I know it was new because all of the blue tape was still on it

Derek Grayson

I was given a suite which had nasty, worn furniture The room was filled with ants as well I am struggling to get a receipt because their system will not send one out like every other Marriott property

The bar / restaurant is poorly staffed and difficult to order Stay away from this place I am being generous with my 2 star rating

Time 4420

Guest service is phenomenaly good so far I have been here just one day and will be here for another 2 days The room, not so much

We have found trash and food, peanuts and chex mix along with gum Then there is the shower There is no fan so the steam gets out of control Also it will not drain I tried cleaning it out and it still won’t drain Now the rest of the hotel is very nice Personally I think the price is a little high but in a lot of cases you get what you pay for so it is what it is

Clean, modern hotel with pool and laundry services Staff was courteous and kind Love their dog policy and found the hotel off BringFido website

Only reason 1 star off is due to the smoke smell in the lobby Several ppl smoke out front (including staff) and it drifts inside making your welcome unpleasant Lobby is stocked with essentials and food if needed Hotel is located next to pizza and breakfast restaurants

Allen Smith

The stay here was ok There was no view, the rooms were just ok, the included breakfast was nice It was all just ok

I think what’s missing at this hotel is the attention to detail, as any hotel guest knows, it’s all about the details Case in point, the lock inside the door of the hotel room was low enough my toddler could reach it and unlock it, meaning if he woke up he could just unlock the door and walk out How much can you sleep knowing your toddler can escape easily? Me not so much Another example was the oily hand prints and oily hair area marks on the headboard when we arrived, which I cleaned when I got there, and I couldn’t swim in the pool because there were hairballs in it, nasty, but it’s all these details that really could be addressed that make it feel like a sub-par stay I will say the location is excellent and the staff was always helpful

Location is great Hotel is in a safe place Well lit parking

Didn’t see a ton of places to put a trailer but we managed We showed up at 2:30 am after a very long day of traveling and were met with pleasant staff but were unable to get into a room because they were doing some sort of nightly audit They had a chance to really wow us with customer service and offer us a cozy spot to sit and relax while we waited but no such thing happened I expected more from a Hilton We still stayed but they missed an opportunity to gain a Hilton exclusive traveler It would have made all the difference

Rachel Robertson

I cannot comment on my stay as my son ended up having emergency surgery and we were unable to use the room However, I can attest to the customer service and I have to say it was very disappointing The hotel would not approve the refund for the room because it was not booked through them

I understand there are certain rules they have to adhere by, but it is beyond my comprehension that they would give me my money back if I paid them directly, but not refund the 3rd party so that I could get my money back To me that shows a company that cares more about money then the guest!! So as nice as this hotel may appear to be, I would not recommend this Hilton to any of my travel friends ever!

Sarah Scroggins

I had a great experince here Check in and check out were a breeze My room was clean and comfy and i LOVED the shower

Pool was quiet and warm Hotel was clean and inviting The staff went above and beyond for us when they found out i was having a horrible day This hotel was the best part of my trip to Cedar Rapids While I wouldnt recommend Cedar Rapids itself, i would recommend this hotel

The hotel and the room we stayed in are both beautiful, the service is awesome Molly who ran the breakfast in the morning was absolutely AMAZING! She was externally nice to everyone and she was the only person working She still managed to run orders from the kitchen and keep up with large demands

She was extremely generous to me and my wife each morning and very helpful with everything we wanted for breakfast I would definitely stay here again!I would recommend getting a room with breakfast included because you save so much on it if you stay multiple nightsHope your experience is as great as mine!

Sarah Tyler-Peterson

The hotel and staff are top notch Everyone was welcoming The rooms were spotless and the linen and pillows were so comfortable

Then my daughter forgot her beloved baby blanket She figured this out after we drove home, 5 hours away We called and the staff were SO accommodating and looked for her lost blanket They called us a few hours later and the housekeeping staff found it!!! They mailed it back to us 🙂 This went above and beyond anything I’ve experienced at a hotel!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Vicki Coulter

Wish I could remember names of all who served us Wonderfully gracious and helpful I do remember Ms Michelle, the gracious 1am night auditor who checked us out and made sure to meet our needs that stormy night

(Thanks!)I messaged several questions before and after our stay and always received gracious, timely answer LOVED THAT But not near as much as I loved our room … gorgeous, roomy, and open with those stunning floor to ceiling windows… and the food at Class Act, I think their restaurant is called Top notch all the way Be sure to make your way to the back garden outside from the restaurantHighly recommend bumping up your budget a touch to get a suite! Gorgeous kitchenette with roomy fridge and optional, yet economical, huge drawer-format microwave Need to bring your own bowls and silverware, however! __My bad I did not even ask the front desk, and as it turned out, kitchenware could have been easily supplied upon request! I should have expected such graciousness considering the rest of my experience!__Bed is comfy and beautiful, and shower divine!

Age of Exploring

Stayed for two nights The room was comfortable and clean They had one of the best free hotel breakfasts I’ve had in a long time

The staff was friendly and it’s close to the airportThere are not a lot of places to eat around the hotel, so plan accordinglyIt’s a reasonably priced, clean, comfortable place to stay I’d stay again

Sandy McGinness

We stayed here for convenience as we passed through this city on our vacation This hotel was very clean & comfortable Although the hot tub was not working, the pool was very nice

The staff was very apologetic for the lack of the hot tub and were very friendly/helpful throughout Breakfast was also good with a variety of hot foods and grab n go foods We will choose this location again!

B Neal

Hotel was clean and modern – common areas and our room Not sure on some reviews that stated outdated, as I did not see that One thing I really liked is the HVAC unit had the option for “constant fan”

I did not hear the airport or sounds in the hallway Reason why I did a 4 star and not 5 is because the hallway where you enter the room has no ceiling light This is the area with the luggage rack and area to hang your clothes up, so was hard to go through your clothes and supplies

Breakfast has a nice selection is very good, and there was a very nice common area Pool is a good size for being indoor and was fairly clean (open until 10 when we stayed) Room was a good size and also clean, but was a little damp feeling

The walk from the lobby to the pool side rooms is a little far but not terrible Remote in our room for the TV was broken but not a big deal

taylor ruehle

We had a great stay here Super kind staff Very clean room! Bathroom is a bit small and could use some updating

The pool definitely becomes overrun by kids/teens with little to no adult/staff supervision There was broken cups, lots of garbage and no towels for several hours By morning it was all cleaned up and definitely more relaxing I just wouldn’t plan to have small kids or a relaxing time in the pool in the afternoon and evening hours 🙂

josh smith

The rooms were quite nice Very clean, quiet (it was Tuesday so can’t say how a weekend would be), the girl at check in was very nice and got me checked in quickly I just walked in for a room with no reservation

I did call ahead to ask if they allowed semi parking in their lot The girl in the morning was also very nice, I had to get a receipt for work which she was able to email to me The bartender Tuesday evening was great! It was quite busy when I first went down and she was juggling making food and serving drinks so the first drink took a minute to get but that’s ok She was hustling taking care of 9-10 people on her own and keeping up Having conversation and making a good time for everyone Was like being in a small bar back home! This was my first time in the area for work but it’s somewhere we go to often and I will be back The rate was quite reasonable as well for the quality of room The ONLY reasons for 4 stars instead of 5 is the fact that the main restaurants are still closed I will leave my personal opinions out of the review But the website states it’s still due to covid I do understand short staffing and how hard it is to find employees to open a full service restaurant of that scale, let alone 2 However, the complimentary breakfast in the lounge/“lobby” is all to order Which really isn’t a complaint What people were getting looked GREAT when I went down to grab some coffee But I didn’t have time to wait for food before leaving for work I would have been able to grab off a typical hotel breakfast “buffet” and go I could spring for 5 stars if just the breakfast was out and the restaurants were still closed Other hotels do have restaurants open and have for quite some time So maybe it is something else, but I am basing it off of what is on their website The other reason is the heat and a/c unit in my room did not work at all Wouldn’t even turn on It got just a little stuffy in there but wasn’t worth changing rooms or making a fit about and really didn’t contribute much at all to the missing star In fact I forgot to let them know and just remembered it as I typed this and am going to call and let them know so they can fix it Lol

Everyone was so polite in every position The room was quiet and comfortable The restaurant was great

The little extras were appreciated I even got a last minute ride to the airport, even though they technically don’t do that on a regular basis anymore The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because I did not receive Maid service I am not sure if I was missed or they just don’t do that anymore as since Covid most hotels wait until you check out If I needed anything I had it in five minutes or less, though

Blake Oyen

The one and only nice thing about this hotel is it’s location But please do not expect anything more than that like a microwave or fridge in your room Instead you would be told there is a common microwave in the lobby

I was so thrown off by this as I travel a lot for work and this is the first I’ve ever heard of this The pool is closed and not hot tub Parking is across the street not much you can do about that but trains go by about every hour or so and walls were thin enough I could hear a conversation that was 2 rooms down The staff was very friendly I will say They understood my frustration of the microwave and mini fridge but the time of there was none available I had to take the top of the toilet every time it flushed to reset the seal or it would keep running Very disappointed for the price

molly miller

Our group booked over 100+ rooms July 30 checking out Aug 5 Everyone went above and beyond in making our stay comfortable From check in to the courtyard to the banquet room, to the breakfast and crazy dinners we thank you for the amazing service

Brian at the front desk and all the other front desk clerks kudos and thanks for the warm cookies The shuttle service thank you Jason rocked it! Special thanks to Steve and the food and beverage staff We kept you running and the service was tops! I cannot say enough Thank you from the Road Glide National Rally!

I’d recommend the nearby Homewood Suites by Hilton before this aging property The Homewood, a newer property, has resumed its evening social, which is one of the main reasons I choose Residence Inns The pool was “closed indefinitely” but there was no work in progress

Room 215 had cracked tile in the kitchen and a shower curtain rod that was sagging from the holder The breakfast was good, but it was nearly the same every day for four days More variety would be better The staff was excellent, but I probably wouldn’t choose THIS Residence Inn again

David Hudson

Website photos are older & misleading The hotel had a wind storm the year before & some things were still not repaired Also, I was told by the front desk staff that a basketball team stayed there a few weeks prior & they destroyed the glass basketball backboard

Glass was still all over the court The pool is closed, with no date to reopen All carpet is dated & stained The rooms curtains were held together with duct tape The room glasses were dirty Milk from breakfast was curdled The outdoor patio was nothing like the photo and there was cigarette butts everywhere I give it a 2/5 because the bed was good and the hotel was quiet

I will say I liked how it had a fridge in the room and the body wash, shampoo and conditioner that I had provided in my room was great But……… I’m not so impressed with the cleanliness? I noticed a nice sized orange stain right on my pillow

thought that was kinda gross Then I took a shower that night and had to wash off someone else’s shaved hair from the shelves in the shower… also kinda gross Please note the date in which this review was written I understand that lots are overworked and understaffed but what’s most important to me is cleanliness other than those odd things, the place was nice!

Millie Carr

We were there for a church function, when I originally attempted to check in online there was a problem When i arrived at the hotel they hadn’t cleaned the room so there was another wait Got checked in the room was nice the TV didn’t work

After several attempts to change out the remotes the maintenance personal had to be called The manager was very accommodating even started she would have changed our room That is good customer service The breakfast they had variety that was ok, no soy milk, no meat selection The scones were hard as well as the chocolate muffins Marriott hotel does well at keeping thing quality and this was good, I will go back

Sierra Hunter

My bf stayed here I am a supervisor at a Marriott in Kansas City, Customer service is a top priority! The roomed smelled like mildew and urine The “hotel manager” Gloria was rude and not very accommodating when I called about the refund of the deposit

She insisted to call my job since she demanded he shouldnt use my discount, at my rate which is a lie! She yelled over the phone and was very rude I will be contacting Corporate to get the situation handled immediately!

If you visit the website for Belmont Hill B&B, you will see that the innkeepers Ken and Shelley are proud to be owner operated with no employees, and therefore ensure that the rooms are fastidiously clean and sanitized We can attest that is not hyperbole in any sense This place is spotless

The grounds are beautiful as are the rooms The breakfasts are first rate and served in a lovely dining room The location is perfect You feel like you are in another world, yet downtown Cedar Rapids is just a 10 minute drive away Stay here and you will be so happy, there is nothing negative to say at all Ken and Shelly are gracious and engaging hosts, but never intrusive, just perfect!

Roger Crickenberger

Property and service exactly as described on website and by telephone Prompt, friendly accommodating service by owners Shelley and Ken were a pleasure to talk to; they shared a wealth of history about the property and the area

The rooms were excellent and tended to every day, including leaving those 2 chocolate nuggets every evening And the breakfasts were glorious–fresh fruit, hot entree with toast, and capped off with a wonderful pastry What else can you ask for? We thoroughly enjoyed our 6 nights and will certainly stay there if we are ever in Cedar Rapids again Thank you

Room was good, gave 3 stars because of 2 issues During checkout, I requested to check out at 11:30 instead of their normal time 11 and was asked to join their IHG mailing list/membership in order to do so Also in breakfast they did not have pancakes (their machine was not working) or milk(they were out of milk)

Being vegetarian my options got limited to only bagel and juices

from the time we checked in to the time we checked out, daniella & the rest of the staff made sure we had an excellent stay The room was comfortable, the beds were firm, and plenty of hot water with good pressure for morning showers Good standard hotel breakfast – daniella and the staff made sure items remained well stocked

Spent our reward nights at this Hilton hotel Of the several hotels we stayed at with a free breakfast, this hotel served it best hot I loved eating their dried fruit and brown sugar oatmeal and washing it down with a glass of cranberry juice

The rooms were nice and clean Friendly and attentive workers Hilton management, if you are reading this please stop overworking your staff This is not the first hotel of yours that I’ve been too that a person is doing what should be multiple job roles I learned the laundry attendant quit and the laundry piled up the morning of our check-out The crew was scrambling to try and catch up 7/10

Checked in as a Hilton Honors member The room was not cleaned properly There was no shampoo or soap in the bathroom

This hotel room is the first room I have ever stayed in that does not have a closet!I had to take a photograph of the bathroom to convince the front desk there was no soap and shampoo I did collect shampoo and soap from the front desk Obviously, only one person was working at that time – around 730 pm Didn’t bother to complain about the dirty room that was not vacuumed properly I always carry my pillow cases and towels I was glad I did anyway because these pillow cases may well have been the ones used by the previous guests I wouldn’t book this again

I read the reviews and thought this would be an good place to stay If anyone gives this property higher than 2 stars they must have been paid to do it!This property is nothing more than an overpriced Motel 6 Small rooms, smaller bathrooms, no shower gel in the cheap container, and not clean

I am a Lifetime Diamond and this is the worst hotel ever
