This hotel has been the nicest, cleanest and friendliest hotel I’ve stayed in for years The rooms are nice and great size The beds were so comfortable and the amount of pillows they gave us was AWESOME! Our family especially enjoyed the pool and spa and then the wonderful breakfast buffet

We were all pleasantly surprised that there were turkey meat options for breakfast As a family that doesn’t eat pork, this was a VERY unexpected and delightful surprise The staff was stellar The woman working the breakfast buffet deserves a great amount of kudos for her willingness to help and kind hospitality Another unexpected treat was the fresh baked chocolate chip cookies offered at check-in Yum! The whole entry smelled of bakery goodness We had small children and small dogs with us, and the facility was exceptional to both Thank you so much Comfort Inn for the wonderful stay!

Alejandra, if you are reading this, you are a star! Thank you for your caring, professional and friendly demeanor The world is short staffed right now, but thank you for showing up and being great💛

I had a wonderful stay 24hr fitness center and pool Rooms are nice, comfy beds free breakfast Close to convenient places for shopping and food Great staff all around I am very pleased

R L

Facility and room were very clean! The in-room whirlpool was perfect! There were some shortcomings, however:There was very little soundproofing We heard all of the foot traffic on our floor and the one above So much so, we slept with the TV on to drown out the noise of people walking, doors closing, kids and pets running

When we arrived, unfortunately, all of the handicap spots were taken, so we had to park in a regular spot, which made things a bit more difficult for my partner who’s in a wheelchair It looks like it would be feasible to add another handicap spot at the south end of the buildingAdditionally, there was a lack of a hand-held shower head in an accessible room, which seemed odd and made showering a little more difficult Plus, the shower chair felt cheap and unsafeIf the ada shortcomings are resolved, we would stay again, despite the noise

Rooms clean and nice, decent price, professional front desk staff Unfortunately the person handling the breakfast needed help, couldn’t keep up, so we never got eggs Someone asked for salt but it was never brought out even though we could see all the shakers in the back

There were no grab bars in the small room that had the shower and toilet My elderly mother had a hard time

Ryan Gates

So we just checked in with a non refundable booking, I have 2 kiddos that love pools, so we stay where there is pools!… we find a sign saying closed Been closed for a while they said and the reason I’m even typing this is because I haven’t seen it posted anywhere including here So heads up if your looking to swim in the advertised salt water pool, call first!… story is there looking for chemicals for it?

salt water pools have less chemicals and easy maintenance according to google, but doesn’t matter it’s closed! I’ll follow up with the rest of the stay!

iLarold

Breakfast, and indoor pool were the only good things about this stay We showed up an hour after check in started, it took awhile to get checked in they were still cleaning rooms We were given our key after 15 minutes of waiting and was told to wait in the lobby while they double checked to see if the room was ready

When the receptionist returned she asked for the key back and said there was a problem with the room From what I could over hear one of the workers asked to hold the room but it wasn’t communicated, and the room they just gave us a key for was still occupied by someone We were told to go wait longer while they checked in the many waiting guests behind us Waited 20 minutes in the car came back in still no room ready, it wasn’t a good first impression after a very long drive When we finally got another room it was wornout and smelled bad, the beds were hard and didn’t look like queen sized, my feet hung off the end and it wasn’t nearly as wide as our queen size beds at home The first day we told the front desk to skip cleaning our room because we didn’t have a do not disturb sign, they still knocked but no nig deal Then the last day we got a knock on the door while we were getting ready an hour before checkout, and before I could answer it someone ran a key card and started to open our door I said hold on! They rushed off saying sorry as the went down the hall, just not a good stay overall

Remember to use ʜoᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏᴄᴏm when booking any hotel They compare hundreds of booking websites and usually will have rates a lot cheaper than others! Thank me later on! This resort is the best rated in this area

I’ve been staying here for a very long time If you decide to stay here you for sure won’t be disappointedWe had an early flight into Portland and called the hotel when I landed (like they told me to when I called earlier in the week) and they put us in a room that was ready when we arrived at 10am! Super helpful staff Clean and definitely worth the cost

Wayne Beaumier

I’ve been to the Monarch a few times now for a yearly convention and I always enjoy myself The rooms and halls are still somewhat dated and older but that never bothers me The pool area has been built up and is great to relax at

Both the indoor and outdoor restaurant is delicious, while the underground themed area is fun and different The staff is always courteous, kind, and easy to get ahold of They do an excellent job of taking care of the convention goers before, during, and after the event Cannot wait to come back next year

Anne Pettus

I’ve stayed here in the past and had a great experience But that was 5 years ago This time was awful

We needed a place to stay while we were selling our house and had our open house The first night, the keys didn’t work to the first room they gave us, so they gave us another room This room was on the first floor and was very dirty The sink had grime all around it, the shower head was falling out, there was black hair in the tub and I’m pretty sure it hadn’t been cleaned in a very long time House keeping only comes if you call and request and they do bare minimum, they didn’t even change our sheets even though I had requested that Oh and the whole first floor reeked of pot the whole time We booked three nights and only stayed two Avoid this hotel if staying in the area Go to the Marriott down the road It’s worth the extra money!!

I’m giving 5 stars because 4 isn’t fair The location is great Yes it’s right off the highway and while in the parking lot traffic is loud—you can barely hear it from the room

The rooms have been renovated While smaller in size they maximize space efficiency and not in a bad way The room felt quite spacious I love using the app to check in—no waiting, texted the desk about a minor repair needed, and checked out without any contact

Theresa L

Stayed for 1 night after landing around midnight Check in was fast and the room was clean They even had a Guest of the Day welcome bag in my room which was thoughtful

Never gotten one before at any of my other Hilton stays lol Breakfast was pretty standard with plenty of options Plus for the crispy bacon and waffle machineThe only 2 things to note were: 1 The bathroom was small so no real counter space 2 There was no real closet to hang clothes Since we were only staying for 1 night, these weren’t deal breakers

Angela Barr

The room we stayed in had incredibly hard beds that gave us terrible back pain We’ve stayed in many, many hotels and expected softer beds for the price Also, we had to pay $50 to let our dog sleep in her own bed on the floor of the room when it is standard most places to charge $20

I could even understand charging a refundable deposit for damage, but an adult dog like ours who doesn’t make messes and came to sleep for 8 hours shouldn’t cost $50 extra On the positive side, it was nice to have warm cookies and water for the kids and the breakfast was decent and had some good options If the beds weren’t so hard I can barely walk today and I didn’t have to pay so much for my dog, I’d probably come back

Booked a 2 bedroom suite for 2 nights Very much enjoyed the rooms and the responsiveness when I called the front desk for bedding The king bed was nice, but definitely not as comfortable as many hotel beds I’ve stayed in (too firm)

Hot tub was great being inside Biggest complaint is lack of Continental breakfast The hotel gave us two $7 coupons for the restaurant breakfast which still ended up being almost $40 for two modest meals Almost everything seemed cooked well but shockingly bland Like zero flavor The french toast was just plain bad Overall, would definitely stay again but I’d avoid the restaurant

Hyperjackaboy 3583

I loved my stay here! The rooms were very clean and comfortable Most rooms have a small balcony that looks right out onto the river There are walking trails next to the river and even a dock to walk on

The staff is amazing The lady that helped me upgraded my room to one with a jet tub for my husband and I The restaurant has very good food When you check in they give you a voucher for 7 dollars towards breakfast Overall it was a great stay and we will be back!

Stacy Caswell

The only reason I give an extra star is because our room was clean We stayed in room 130 The door next to our room had a sign taped on it ( Do Not Disturb )

All night long we heard this individual cough and it sounded like he was eating cereal for over two hours Like a spoon hitting porcelain Our bed crunched The ladies at the front desk were very nice and accommodating Because we were so tired I slept pretty good Parking is tight this hotel is in a very condensed area right next to Providence park where they have their soccer games Unfortunately, we stayed here during an active game night That eating facilities are 03 to 07 miles away I’m not sure you’re going to find a cheaper hotel that’s close to the amenities here in town That being said I would look for another hotel before staying here again

Radhika Shankar

Parking is horrific! If you get room across the street from main building, no access to regular fridge or microwave In room microwave can only hold 4 water bottles No breakfast just cookies and coffee

Rooms are really small and cramped Floor was not clean Main building has a tiny cute courtyard that you can enjoy if someone doesn’t discover it first 🙂

Julie Corrales

Booked a room with two queens and was excited to stay in the modern, colorful room the website displayed That however, was not got what we got The room was outdated with no microwave, mini fridge, ironing board, extra plastic bags, etc

The room smelled like an entire bottle of bleach was used to clean it The beds were squeaky, uncomfortable, and scratchy At one point we had a small spider crawl out of one of the pillows One highlight was the kind staff that helped us check-in and out Really unfortunate we couldn’t enjoy our stay more

Remember to use ʜoᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏᴄᴏm when booking your place This web site will compare thousands of booking websites and usually will have rooms a lot cheaper than others! Thank me later! This place is one of my favorites in this area

I have been staying here for years If you choose this place you for sure won’t be disappointedMy wife and I had a wonderful time here It’s perfectly located to lots of things to do, there’s a bus stop right outside & a max line just down the street This hotel was great- they had a gear rental space, something I’ve never seen at a hotel There was live music & a cozy courtyard It definitely seemed like it catered to younger people Parking was a bit rough- we had planned on driving over to the east side after checking in, but we had gotten the last spot & didn’t want to lose it I’m glad we didn’t move either, because when we went down to check on the car later at night, there were several cars circling the garage looking for a spot Overall we really enjoyed it & plan on coming back soon

The hotel is beautiful, clean and comfortably modern The staff is welcoming and lovely The rooms are stunning the bed and crisp linens amazing

Lovely hotel in a great location The staff was friendly and helpful and the rooms are nice and have a mini fridge Their restaurant has good food and their patio is cute

Location is great! It’s a little older but it’s nice and clean Breakfast was free and it was good I would like to have a dish soap for the bathroom

I can’t stand having the soap wet sitting on the counter So we improvised and used a face cloth as the soap dish Fitness room was really small but if all you need is a treadmill and elliptical then it works

Dan Benshoff

I can’t say anything was terrible but nothing was great It was fine The rooms are decent size and moderately new

They don’t do daily service which sucks — you have to remember to tell them way in advance They did let our large group play cards in the breakfast area late at night which was nice The breakfast is horrible unless you like cereal

Russell Graham

The Fairfield Inn was a decent hotel: quiet and professional The hotel is an older structure Some guests may not like the fact that on the fourth floor, there is some renovation work being completed during the day

We were three rooms down from the active work and didn’t hear anything, which was a reliefOtherwise, we had a decent stay

Marriott set their own bar…and this one has not met that bar; it’s Not worth the co$t Very disappointed Does not meet the Marriott standard

The staff was friendly and kindThe place is mostly cleaned well, other than a couple interesting mold growthsBreakfast: If you like breakfast burritos; Green Chili burritos are served Very tastyThe rooms we had were out of date (i lived in an apartment in 1990 that had the same kitchen and bathroom cabinets) The bathroom counter is a great height for a four year old, not so comfortable for even an average height adultThe bedside phone did not work (totally broken) The bathroom lighting is dim and not good for doing makeup The bathroom fan is loud as a muffler-less truck The bathroom floor tiles and grout are cracked And there is mold on the shower caulkingThe main floor bedroom space was not well planned (furniture not well placed) The kitchen had one days worth of coffee (one 12 cup pot) and only 4 packets of sugar The blankets are thin There are only four mugs and four water glasses for a place which can sleep up to sixThe business center is without wifi; no wireless printer, no internet access When one needs technology, but it is not made available… in this day and age, at this price point is there a good excuse? And a little heads up; the pool is not covered, therefore it’s not open 9 months of the yearThis was a disappointing stay

Brandy Carrico

Rooms are old and needs upgrades but despite that, they are clean and in decent shape Walls are thin You can hear the other guests cough in their rooms

Free breakfast and coffee every morning!Outdoor pool that’s open seasonallyAll of their washers are either not working or work horribly Don’t clean your clothes there if you can help it

Clint Houchens

To start, this was the worst experience I have ever had in a Marriott branded hotel I travel very frequently, enough to hold Marriotts highest loyalty level When I arrived the front desk staff was friendly and checkin was fine

When I went to my room and looked around the property, there are a lot of maintenance issues, it just looks dirty I entered my room and at first look it was OK, nothing great, a little tired but OK I always do an inspection of the bed and mattress What I found were bed bugs I took some pictures and left the room and went back to the front desk I let the front desk agent know what I found, she apologized and place me in another room I went to that room and found the same thing She met me at the room with a key to a 3rd room and when we went there, we could not open the door The key appeared to work, but the door was stuck At this point I asked to be checked out and asked if there was another Marriott property close I was told there was another hotel around the corner They didn’t offer to assist with getting a room there or offer any compensation for the huge inconvenience I never spoke to a Manager, and have never been contacted by management with an apology or a follow-up I would not recommend anyone stay at this property and in my opinion Marriott Corporate needs to take a deep look at this property 2 rooms with signs of Bed bugs and a run down exterior tells me the owner doesn’t care about this property

The best hostel!!!!! I stayed here for a week (in a private queen room) and couldn’t fault it at all Super modern, clean and awesome The rooftop bar was a huge plus, although not open every night so be aware of that

Great location to get to downtown on the bus or walk to some cool restaurants Staff were lovely Seriously can’t stop thinking about how cool the place was, wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again I’ve stayed in a lot of hostels before and this genuinely was the nicest Don’t miss it!

Samantha Georgi

Great idea, has potential, lacking in executionI stayed in one of the 4 bed female dorms for 2 nights I was very excited about a new hostel in Portland

I’ve stayed in many a European hostel so am familiar with the structure and price bracket The facility is clean and modern and the attached cafe and rooftop bar are nice amenities Unfortunately I was too exhausted the first night to check out the rooftop bar, and on the second night it was mostly blocked off for a private event that appeared to also block the computer room area, which I was planning to use I wish that guests were priority in the use of space, especially considering that the price for 2 nights came to $103 total for a dorm room which is higher than most hostelsThe layout of the shared dorms is great in theory – enter into a common area with a small locker for luggage storage and 2 toilets/2 showers shared by 3 – 4 bed dorm rooms which are accessed through this room I would think the intention behind this is to keep non-sleeping activities out of the quiet spaces for sleeping However, the lockers are too small so luggage ends up in the room anyway The photos on the website failed to show single window dorm rooms, which have a more claustrophobic feel The bunks don’t seem to be bolted to the wall, which allows them to shake a fair bit when getting in or outThe most disappointing part of the layout is that despite what seems like careful planning of intentional quiet spaces, the doors are all THE loudest self closing doors in a space with no sound absorption so you constantly hear the slam of doors at any hour someone comes in or uses the bathroom I understand rugs would be hard to keep clean, but some kind of sound absorption paired with soft-close doors would be a huge upgrade to this spaceOverall, the hostel served it’s purpose of offering a reasonably affordable and clean place to stay in a great location And all the staff I encountered seem great

Peter Custer

Perfect place to launch a college reunion trip Lolo Pass was ideal for our group and we used a ton of the first-class accommodations We enjoyed the rooftop views, the coffee at the cafe and even participated in a local wine tasting event held in the lobby

The staff was friendly and helpful…Steering us to a great meal within close walking distanceRoom was clean and quiet Highly recommend

Everything was great until the girls basketball teams came then we got talked to about being too loud We were laughing at a TV show

Guess that annoyed someone No freezer, have to ask for microwave Pool was dirty with stuff from trees Lounging chairs filled with the same tree stuff and no towels at pool Yet towels were laying everywhere Front desk people were amazing

Very unhappy with the service I reserved a room for my son’s wedding night Tried to pay in advance and was told that they could not let me pay since it was for my son

Sent him the money He tried to set-up an early check-in multiple times (in advance) and was told he would need to call the morning of – when he called they declined an early check in He checked in at the scheduled time and used his card (since I sent him the money) They charged my card When I called, I was told there was nothing they could do It was a very frustrating experience all around and we will not be using them again

Clark Johnson

This is a nice hotel with friendly staff I felt the room to be a big snug, with just the two of us tripping over each other and our belongings CAUTION – Do not expect the hotel restaurant to have good food, because it does NOT

It is mostly empty so corners are cut The food is pre-prepared and then heated up I had some sort of breakfast burrito that was probably the worst thing I have ever eaten It was a concealed clump of eggs, potatoes, and meat Gross The waitress was nice, took it back, and removed it from the bill

To top it off, both Tim and Stephen went out of their way to answer my many questions (many of them dumb questions!) and accommodate my needs, practically bending over backwards to make my stay as pleasant as possible, even recommending favourite food haunts It felt like I was staying with close friendsThe guesthouse is listed as 3-star but with all that Tim and Stephen have done, 5-star is really more appropriate It’s lovely and understanding folks like Stephen and Tim that make me want to stay in PortlandThank you both!

This was an excellent accommodation for this guest attending a weekend workshop in the area The host was accommodating, responding to a special request to have the suite ready for an early check-in if possible The host was attentive and assisted the guest with getting acquainted with the suite and neighborhood

The accommodations were well-cared for and clean The bed was comfortable and the suite was well appointed for comfort and function The street noise was minimal and the windows could be opened It was a welcome place to retreat to after a full day This guest’s forgotten item was immediately sent back in the post It is an Airbnb I would book again and highly recommend

Basic and cozy, a delightful change for this hotel-chain-weary traveler Parking is steps from the door The suite is clean, comfortable and scent/odor-free

Both kitchen and bath exhaust fans vent to the outside, which is becoming increasingly hard to find The heat and AC both work well The place is carefully appointed and well maintained, from sturdy fixtures to gleaming caulk around the tub I particularly enjoyed cooking and dining there – quality dishes and flatware, full size fridge and a large, deep stainless sink Plenty of good cookware and utensils too I appreciated the thoughtful touches like warm lighting in the main area / bright lighting in the bath, extra light bulbs, two spectacular books on Oregon and a splendid picture over the bed of Vista House overlooking the Gorge, shades that you can open either up or down, closet stocked with plenty of nice new wooden hangers, extra pillow/softest-on-earth-blanket and even an umbrella!, and rolling nightstand for easy access to the outlet behind Jane (owner) was refreshingly genuine and pleasant to interact with A hidden gemPS To correct three previous reviewers, this is neither an apartment, AirBnb nor hotel It’s more like having your own mini-home-away-from-home It’s more personal, with higher quality amenities than an apartment or hotel, without the uneasiness of staying in someone else’s home like an AirBnb For my purposes it’s the best of all worlds

Would highly recommend this place for anyone that wants to feel like they have a “home” to go to instead of a hotel room My husband and I enjoy having our own kitchen space so when I found this place so close to where my daughter was staying in Portland I knew that this was where we needed to be We were not disappointed! While they don’t book through any of the internet travel sites (which made my husband skeptical) Jane is awesome at returning phone calls and emails and she graciously worked with us even though our dates had to change

There was a personal letter for us upon arrival, one brief visit in the parking lot, a phone call to make sure that we had everything that we needed and a “thank you” post card after we returned home The room was neat, clean and very well equipped – even provided coffee for the coffee maker so she gets an extra star for that!

I was between ratings in this stay I have a relative that put us up in this guesthouse that lives in the area HIGHLY recommend the area as all the restaurants and shops are very walkable and such a beautiful area in a lively neighborhood

Contactless check in was a plus, we stayed in the Beverly cleary room which faces the front of the guesthouse keeping in mind spring to fall there is an ac unit in the window so you hear quite a bit (We turned on the fan feature and it drowned everything out) It was a large room with its own bathroom The public guest areas were very nice and always clean with breakfast accommodations and a fridge (Though they only had one tiny drawer for guests) My only reason for not doing 5 stars was because of a staff member who came off very cold and unwelcoming I believe she was actually one of the owners I heard someone in the hall so opened the door and as I stood in the doorway I say hello! And her response was “mask!” (These are required in their public areas at this time) I then say ok… we are staying here almost a week and we were just wondering if we could get more towels? She responds with “they are right next to you, As it states in the welcome letter Mind you this was a very brisk tone like we were being a nuisance Well I read and reread that letter and it says to ask if someone is available … so we were just following direction I have worked in all industries and would not talk a to patron this way Many different ways to have handled this Other than that there was a gentleman that was there on arrival, very nice, as well as the cleaning staff

***This review was written about a stay during COVID***Exceeded our expectations! The website photos did not do the room justice We stayed in the first floor studio and it was a lot larger than expected Bed was very comfortable, shower was very nice

Most important to us (we were traveling with a packed car) there was a parking lot attached to the property, we were able to move things very easily from our car to the roomBreakfast was grab and go, perfect for our situation Would gladly stay again next time we are in the PNW

Very friendly and attentive staff There is a bar and the option to buy snacks in the lobby, in addition to a full menu available for room service or diningThe rooms were nice and spacious but lacked closet space (there is no dresser just a couple of pull out shelves)

The hotel is near plenty of restaurants (within a 5 minute drive)

for nearly $300 tonight, and making breakfast something you pay for as part of a package, ridiculous! When we booked the hotel-one of the reasons we booked it was for a free breakfast, and to come to find out there was no breakfast included in our night stay, I was very disappointed and shocked by the amount of money we paid to not have a complementary Metairie breakfast included it’s just mind boggling to me The staff member, who is quite rude, stopped us at the entrance of the complementary breakfast station, and said we had to pay for it as part of a package I would think paying $285 for one night should very much include a complementary breakfast for a five-year-old and an 11 year old with their dad

I will not stay there again!
