The hotel is currently under mild construction, this was not noted on the Marriott app As I walked into the hotel lobby to check in, I noticed immediately that they have no air-con in the lobby (I don’t know if that’s normal for southern Cali

) The hotel elevator seemed to take forever But when I got to my room I was surprised The room was a decent size, had two balconies, one with a sitting area, and the room was neat The TV remote barely worked The air-con in the room was a bit loud and seemed to have trouble keeping up They only have coffee available in the lobby during breakfast That seems odd to me, almost every other Marriott hotel has coffee available 24-7 Breakfast was about what you could get from the gas station down the road They have ample parking but you have to pay $25 a night and larger vehicles are not going to fit And my last note, the room I requested was not ready when I checked in at 2 pm even though the Marriott app sent me a notification 2 days earlier telling me it was ready

We love the spanish style of the hotel Location is perfect, is located near restaurants, bars, and walking distance to the historic old Town park The hotel needs some remodeling, the wallpaper is falling off in the hallway, the jacuzzi was closed

$25 to park on property, is recommended for compact cars Just annoying that people don’t know how to park

Great hotel to stay with your family I really liked it here The room that we stayed in had a nice work space, a couch to relax and watch TV and a king size bed

The room is really clean Nice bathroom with a stand in shower There is a mini fridge and a microwave in the room The staff were good and courteous and friendly There is parking behind the hotel In case it gets full in the front and the sides Hotel has wheel chair accessible entrance And within walking distance right in front of the hotel there is chili’s, Wendy’s and yanni’s bar and grill restaurants And a shell gas station with car wash tooPS: for people who have Tesla cars you have a charging place within less than 5 min from this hotel

Carol Martin

Booked one bed one pull out couch for three people Came into room to find pull out couch sheet had either feces or food on the sheets Spare sheets in closet were clearly already used and did not include a blanket

Called front desk Housekeeping came up and brought us towels instead of sheets Told them we needed sheets and the pull out to be cleaned Housekeeping came back and just handed us sheets and picked food/feces off the pull out Pull out was still stained by food/feces Did not clean further or put on new sheets Decided we would not sleep on the still dirty pull out and that person had to sleep on the unmade couch Unacceptable when specifically promoted as a pull out couch that we had planned for someone to use as a bed Had to buy Lysol with how poorly cleaned the couch was to feel comfortable using itRequested late checkout which was apparently not communicated to cleaning staff once again Cleaning staff bothered us three times between regular check out and our scheduled late checkout We told them each time we had late checkout and told them when it was Was a two star review, how ever found out our late checkout fee had been waived on account of being bothered after regular checkout and raised to three starsBreakfast was very underwhelming for the room price, however this seems to be an issue with Marriott in general, not this location specifically

Patricia Boyle

Rooms are nice and big Little kitchen area, small living room and big beds There was plenty of food for breakfast and staff stayed on top of making sure everything stayed full

Checking in was quick and easy and all the staff were friendly and helpful Great location not to close to everything but also not to far Vons is less than a mile away, chili’s and Wendy’s are in walking distances And a nice bar is as well Our room was 4th floor facing the freeway and we didn’t hear a thing Property was clean, weight room was clean I would not only recommend this hotel but I would stay again!!

The front desk staff, Bryant, was extremely helpful and friendly However, the rooms were pretty run down and not the cleanest The floors were sticky, carpet smelled of mildew in the stairwell, and there were clear wear and tear throughout the space

The rooms are pretty small but the common areas are well kept Free breakfast was also a plus though we wish it was open passed 9am Considering you’re not necessarily close to city center and you have to pay to park on top of everything else that has been noted, we felt as though this hotel was overpriced

Vinod Kashyap

Think twice before making a reservation We were given a room which was stinking worse than a public restroom After complaining to frontdesk, our room was changed which was at 85 degree inside in summer time

It looks like they do not perform basic checks on rooms before allocating to guestI will never stay in this hotel again

Great location about 20-30 minutes from all the tourist attractions in a safe part of San Diego Close to restaurants and Target (for the things you forgot!) Parking is free but the lot closest to the hotel is small with narrow parking spots

Great sound proofing between rooms Generally clean rooms and bath Free breakfast every morning Front desk very helpful Would stay again

Samantha Orchard

Noisy renovationBe aware that the ongoing remodeling (June 2022) can be quite noisy Workers were hammering and banging until almost 7 pm one day and the front desk staff said they could do nothing about it

I do not think it is right for the hotel not to warn guests about construction noise before their stay and to charge full price to have to put up with the incessant noise Also, a side door was left standing open for the construction workers, which made me a bit concerned re:safety

Great hotel! Comfortable beds Good AC Clean room

Great breakfast with tons of options The bacon was in a puddle of grease and oil though, which was unappealing Great lobby and pool area for a good price 35 minutes to the ocean though, so not the best if thats your destination Good customer service and accommodated a very late checkout (1pm) which our family really appreciated

Chris Bennett

Having read a lot of the reviews prior to my stay, I would say taken on the whole it describes the experience well Friendly staff overwhelmed by a broken down property This hotel is desperately ready for a makeover

We encountered broken equipment upon entering our room and things broke as we used them They provide a beautiful new ice bucket but do not provide cups or glasses within which to put that ice Even the ice maker needed maintenance! Please guys Do something!

ZeeTheGoddess

Let me 1st start by saying I was not a guest here but I will never be a guest here if this is how they treat people with their customer service we had a family emergency my husband stopped in to use the telephone and was informed he is not able to use the phone or get any assistance or help because he is not a guest if this is how you treat people as a customer then I will never be a guest with you and I will never refer people to your hotel It takes nothing to empathize with a person or simply just being nice wow This is definitely the worst Hilton I’ve ever encountered please be aware of the terrible customer service you will get here

We stay at Marriott hotels all across the country and are currently Titanium level members We’ve come to expect a certain level of service, but unfortunately, this Residence Inn did not deliverThe Good: Breakfast was nice, the room was spacious and clean, and staff were friendly and as helpful as they could be, given the circumstances

The Bad: Our son had an accident on the first night, and rather than giving us new bedding, the maintenance workers took the entire sofa bed mattress When we inquired later that day as to why it hadn’t been returned, we were told maintenance had left for the day This happened for two days straight We had no sofa bed mattress, and couldn’t even use the couch After we finally got the mattress returned, the heater stopped working and couldn’t be repaired until the next day And finally, despite asking several times for assistance, our hot water never worked properly It was warm, but never hot enough to shower inAt the conclusion of our stay I asked for a couple of nights to be taken off our bill due to all of the issues we had I was told my complaint would be escalated to management All I ended up getting was some courtesy points Normally I am happy to accept that for smaller issues, but we did not get the room we paid for Being down a bed for two nights, and without heat for a third, really was frustrating Have never had this bad of an experience with Marriott and will likely not be returning to this location again

Roland Allen

This is a good hotel I chose this hotel for an overnight stay prior to heading to the desert for a day of hiking I wanted a place with a kitchen so that I could make breakfast before the day’s adventure

However, when I got to my room, although seemingly “clean”, the kitchen was set up with a previously used sponge at the sink Also there was not soap for washing dishes in the sink, or for using the dishwasher Clearly, these are cost-cutting measures that are simply wrongThese decisions by management made the kitchen unusable because it was contaminated That is the image I have of this propertyAnother problem is the very tight parking lot Some guests parked on the street outside the hotel

Christopher Acosta

Terrible experience Booked through Marriott directly Arrived around 8 and was told that there was an error and that they had no room for us

On top of that since I booked with points they canceled my reservation and I didn’t have any points to book another room Night manager ash simply told me that another hotel down the street has rooms go there No help with calling the hotel, nothing Avoid this place like the plague

I stayed here for 10 days It was great The place was really pretty, clean, and quiet

The staff are always happy to see you and are very helpful The rooms are neat; I was worried about bugs on the way there (because you never know) but the beds were clean and fresh The free breakfast was kind of below average but can be expected from such a small hotel

Travis Chaney

By far the best hotel I’ve stayed at in a while Pet friendly, no pet deposits or extra fees and at the time of posting this a very inexpensive parking fee though there is space you could park on the street to avoid it and the paid spaces were tight but doable with a fairly large car Though right on a freeway on ramp our room was next to it and didn’t hear very much road noise

A fantastic pool and spa and a really good continental breakfast They do charge a safe fee which is in all rooms, so long as you tell them you didn’t use the safe they’ll wave it There was a fridge and microwave in the room and the beds were very comfortable Super clean and the bathroom was very nice but the water pressure was a bit lacking The staff really made this stay great, friendly, always available and very knowledgeable of the area! 3 blocks from great restaurants and fun things to do They were mindful of pet friendly activities as well When I’m back in town I’ll stay here again

George Magana

The first room i checked into looked pristine There was an issue with the TV (TV had a line in the middle of the screen) They kindly switched our room

Second room had some cosmetic blemishes but TV worked great Room was clean and appeared bug free Bed was comfortable and provided a good night sleep Breakfast was great Wife went to get breakfast and everything was available I went with 45 minutes left for breakfast and choices were limited I recommend going early for breakfast They did surprise us with a parking charge Parking is in the basement and it is tight Had to pull vehicle out to let family out I was lucky no one was next to me in the morning otherwise I would have had to enter through the back if the SUV Old town is about 3 blocks from the hotel so we decided to walk Overall, experience was was good

Fantastic location with loads of great bars and restaurants within walking distance, as well as the trolley and plenty of buses to get around San Diego if you don’t have a carThe beds were very comfortable and the rooms have all the amenities to make you feel at home especially for longer staysStaff were very nice and helpful at all times

Finally, the pool was definitely a bonusThe only downside was the grab and go breakfast, I think using covid as an excuse not to have a full breakfast is no longer acceptable (at least in Europe, I don’t know how hotels are operating in the US)

Michele Gregoire Gill

For the class of hotel this is, we had a very good experience The room was clean and quite large My family of four was very comfortable here

We had a balcony with doors that opened up There’s a lot of construction in the neighborhood so the view wasn’t great but it was still nice to get fresh air into the room The hotel is close to Little Italy and good restaurants It has a pool and hot tub And the staff was excellent, responding to service requests promptly and helpfully For Comic Con, they gave us a complimentary grab and go breakfast each day We would definitely stay here again

Jeff Eppenger

Great Location with their own parking area which is a huge plus for downtown San Diego The negatives, we found no one at the front desk most times, we were never acknowledged as Best Western Rewards Members and we weren’t offered an express checkout The room had a beautiful view of the San Diego Bay but did cost extra, the carpet wasn’t very clean upon arrival

The room did have a safe All and all not a bad place to stay but not a great place to stay

Fantastic location in little Italy Rooms were a little small but modern and clean They have a microwave, coffee maker and nice sized fridge for leftovers to fit

The front desk staff is very nice and remembered us as we came and went, even recommended food places to us Hotel is also pride friendly, which is important to us Will make this hotel our yearly spot to stay because we loved everything about it Also for $100-$150, you just can’t beat it!

Randy James

This hotel is bare bones basic Get in get out, a place to sleep for the night Then back out to exploring San Diego

The location is prime, parking is a major pain If you are new to meters and big city stuff Then just use the parking structure about two buildings up the street Well worth it I was greeted by a young lady named Tear, and she makes the experience She is very hospitable and is a perfect fit for this job I can’t praise her enough Good job👍 Tear gave me some great advice about the area and was very helpful This hotel is also pet friendly But just note that you can’t leave your pets even if they are in a crate Fortunately little italy is extremely pet friendly The place goes off Live music, tons and tons of restaurants I had some of the best pizza out there You can also walk or take a scooter to the maritime museum which is very cool too The hotel room is small, but it is quaint like a studio apartment Which has all your necessities Hot shower, fresh remodel, microwave , fridge, sink and a TV I’ll definitely recommend this place to friends just purely based on location You are steps away from adventure

Kim L

My wife and I stayed at this hotel 3 nights last week The location of the hotel is excellent, very close to the airport, trolley station, the beautiful waterfront and the attractions along the waterfront area It’s in the Little Italy and so you can’t beat it if you love Italian food

Front desk staffs were very friendly and professional We checked in an hour earlier and we were gladly accommodated We felt cozy and safe with the hotel Our room was a bit smaller than we expected A building wall, which was about 10 feet away, was all we could see from our window The A/C was a bit loud and it kept kicking in and out literally every minute while the bed was only 5 feet away rendering sleeping disturbing The shower curtain was hanged a foot too high that the floor in the bathroom was all wet after every shower (Don’t understand why the curtain was hanged so high) The door lock on the bathroom door was going out and for a couple of times we had very difficulty on opening it from inside It needs a vanity light above the sink, the ceiling light would not work for it

We had a fantastic experience at this hotel! My only complaint is that breakfast was not provided and there was no easy way to order food there The rooms were updated and clean The parking lot was easily accessible

WE were close to all the locations we wanted to visit We felt safe and cared for My family especially loved the pool and the hot tub I loved that there were laundry facilities on site to do your own laundry (bring your own quarters) The gym was very up to date and open 24 hours Highly recommend this hotel We moved from a hotel that did not suit our needs and they got us in at a reasonable rate!

Joe Griff

Not the typical standard of what I’m used to for Marriott It still looked under renovation on some floors The hotel rep said there would be carts for my luggage outside which there were none

I asked for extra pillows and received no extra My family and I tried taking showers but the shower would not drain properly and flooded the shower floor The shower door seal did not have a good seal and it leaked onto the bathroom floor I stopped it and spoke to the rep/possibly the manager at checkout to inform her She offered me a worthy discount on my room for my family bot being able to use the shower I received my bill only to see she refunded $117 for the troubles While the stay wasn’t horrible, the service was This isn’t a location I would recommend

Caytlin Shreve

We were thankful to have found a safe place to stay very close to an event we went to That being said, we didn’t like the way our room was setup It felt dark and had an odd long carpeted hallway entrance

And the bedroom wasn’t completely private, it had a sliding door but there was an opening in the wall that you couldn’t close or cover There wasn’t a hair dryer in the room and it took about an hour to get one after we asked (while my hair was wet) I didn’t love the price per night or that you had to pay for parking, but my least favorite was the $20 “buffet breakfast” that was nothing more than most continental breakfasts we could get for free at other hotels

Ended up booking a room here as it seemed to have decent reviews and decent location to my destinationLobby / Check In – At check in staff was nice and offered us a free water or soda, check in was simple and quick like most The lobby is small but has a nice touch to it with some of the decor and all, carpets were dirty but seen clean it that night

Rooms – Simple and clean, shower tub could use some love but other than it was a clean functioning room, very simple tooPool – They do say it’s heated but not warm enough in my opinion Other than that it can get packed and it’s a ok sizeParking – Plenty of parking in front or backBreakfast – Place is kept clean and stocked but selections are very minimalOverall it was an ok experience, nothing that stood out too much

The hotel has almost no maintenance, rooms with bad smell and rooms very old, almost falling apart, they were not clean either!! I contacted the front desk and the manager was rude, he shouldn’t be at the front desk, he didn’t like my complaints, but I was not the only one complaining, the rate was far from cheap, so they must provide much much better service, and give a much better care to rooms, they are dirty, they smell bad and almost falling apart!! The towels at the pool are a joke, very very small, it’s a Shame to see those high prices they charge for their rooms and they are not clean, they smell bad, they already are very very old, they need to be renewed and give them much much better mantainance, front desk attention and attitude is terrible 😔

BEWARE!!!Stayed here for one night in May We were charged $10 for lot parking and had over $4,000 of personal property stolen from our vehicle overnightThe area looks nice but it is not safe! It is riddled with property crime such as theft and vehicle theft

The hotel has no surveillance cameras or security whatsoever The hotel knows this and they’ve taken (0) precautions to protect or alert their guests to this dangerBelieve me, the criminals know these facts very well and you’re vehicle and it’s contents are easy prey at this hotel Park in their fee paid lot and it’s open season on your vehicle

Modern design and spacious suites AC/Heating is central with minimum noise and doesn’t disturb your sleepThey can add more types of breads for breakfast, or some muffins to make it even more fancy!Another little thing, as a comment for the hotel to see if then can find a solution, was that the items for the breakfast were located all over different spots in the restaurant; you had to look around to pick your breakfast items from almost 6 corners or sides of that room!

My family stayed here for one night only as a rest stop for our drive Although we didn’t explore all the amenities this hotel offered like the pool, we did enjoy our stay Pros: All of the staff were friendly during our stay, the rooms were smaller than expected but not too small, the cleanliness of the room/facility was not questioned, the parking fee was waived (maybe because we arrived late in the night), and I can’t really complain about the free breakfast

Cons: The facility is older and in need of some major renovation (ie Elevators looked old and creaked) and the dining area for breakfast was very busy and made the stay less enjoyable Side note, I booked this room with hotel loyalty points so this room was completely free Had I not done so, I’m not 100% certain I would rate this hotel as highly Although the pros outweighed the cons, the state of the facility is not something I think of when thinking of the Hyatt brand

The new reception staff issued our room again to another group of guests and our card was charged $1000 for that mistake On the day we were checking out, we found out our front window shield was cracked and the manager said she could not help and said it could be cracked before we parked there… we had videos and photos showing the window was in good shape when we first rented the car Then she said there was no surveillance camera for the parking lot

I seriously doubt what’s the point of us paying the parking fee then If you are on business trip to any companies nearby, consider parking inside the companies – it would be a lot saferStay away from this hotel!

Excellent Marriott property and well maintained All staff very friendly and helpful Nice common areas and lots of

places to sit and relax throughout the property Pool was nice with plenty of chairs, towels and was very clean Front desk staff including the manager were extremely accommodating to me and very professional I arrived very early in the morning and didn’t expect to be able to check in, but just asked to be able to check in whenever they had something available They were so accommodating and actually found a room within the hour around 10am Awesome!! Great thing is this Marriott had the Elite lounge open and well stocked drinks and snacks Complementary breakfast daily as well Nice touch was a seltzer bar in the lounge with coffee and tea machine as well Only negative here is the rooms have hardwood floors that are not kept clean Not sure if they don’t have the correct vacuum cleaners or what, but the floors had other people’s hair all over the place It was pretty gross actually and my socks were covered with debris from the floor Walls had blood splattered on themas well Low pile rugs are a better option and easier to vacuum using the upright vacuum they use Anyway, I would still recommend this hotel, but just beware that you must wear slippers or setting on your feet at all times in the room unless you want other people’s hair on your feet!

We stayed here for the first time last weekend and we were very pleasantly surprised how much we loved it The rooms were clean and great The staff was super friendly! While we ate breakfast there, a couple of the staff members really stood out

We were greeted by Dee and we watched as she chatted and made sure all the guests were happy and enjoying their meals Our server was JC and he was excellent Let’s not forget the front desk either They were all super helpful Especially Anna! We will be coming back very soon!!!

Our stay was good and could have been better for 5 starsHere are few things that can be improved:- no room service done even after requesting a day in advance It was done later after when we came back and had to call front desk multiple times- after room service was done, coffee supplies were not refilled- used glasses were not replaced- trash from the bin was not removed- no chairs in the balcony- lastly not a deal breaker but a hot tub around the pool was missing

I told her about the other hotel had roaches and she was very understanding The next day she remembered us and greeted us every day The breakfast was great! We missed breakfast on Friday but the reception named Christine went and got us a bagels and juice and yogurt And Sea world was 8 min away!!!!😁🥰 Thank you for a great stay!

It was a wonderful experience staying at the Hampton Inn The rooms are spacious enough Not like the cramped ones that one would often see in most hotels

All rooms, facilities, common areas are kept clean and tidy The staff are courteous and welcoming They always try to accommodate any reasonable request that one might have The hot breakfast served everyday with a good array of choices is a sure way to start the day in a great way All in all, the family had a great time staying at the Hampton Inn We would be back to this hotel again when we are in San Diego

We had a wonderful stay during our time in San Diego! The front desk staff were all great and accommodating to our needs while we stayed Our room was not ready upon arrival as it was busy the night before However, once a room became available we were contacted right away to let us know that we could check in

The hotel itself was very clean, including our room, the lobby, pool area, and breakfast area The pool was very refreshing and warm even on some chilly days Breakfast was your typical hot complimentary breakfast but each day there was some slight variety of different options availableThe location is perfect in being able to get to any of the popular sights and things to do in town We will definitely consider staying here again!

Well I don’t know where to start Came in from out of town to just get awayWe called customer service to go to the Hilton on Mission Valley by the mall and as we drove to the location given it was mission valley stadium and did not match the pictures

As we checked in the front desk told us immediately if we switched hotels we still will be charged for three days because we needed to give 24 hours Mind you the reservation was made the same day Not understanding why a simple switch could not be made as we noticed a whole homeless camp in the back parking lot Called customer or corporate line to ask if we could switch and the customer service agent said why did we choose this hotel and not what we wanted as we explained to her we are from out of town and did not know we would of been deceived After telling us she needed to hear the tape to see if we made the mistake or the employee made the mistake Agent was rude and only listened to provide a response and not one of a customer service agent When asked if we could speak to her manager she replied she doesn’t have a manager as we called the top leave of service for Hilton and she was the boss My reply everyone answers to someone and she said she was the top and will send us an investigation As we were on the phone my husband noticed Hilton deducted 202200 from his credit card This was mentioned to top level phone agent and her reply was that wasn’t her concern as she is only focusing if we made the mistake of choosing the wrong hotel We immediately called front desk to make them aware and a male staff member hung up after being confronted about that amount and we called back and a female staff member acknowledged she was aware and they are working on it and it will be refunded in 24 hours 2 days later money was not returned and we were quoted 59400 There were no light bulbs in two of the lamps and a light bulb missing on one of mini reading lamps We don’t smoke and it reeked of stale cigarettes There was dried blood on the sheets Also we had to call the front desk to ask for new wash clothes and clean sheets as no one bothered to clean our room Tomorrow is our check out 4/21/2922 just in case there is a lie to justify the stealing of 2 grand Very disappointed in how this makes the Hilton name to become tarnished

I am giving 4 stars because the good outweighs the badNear many restaurants and stores The only disabled parking spot they have is large

Extremely helpful staff, especially midnight clerk and GM Good food at the restaurant Putting restaurant tab on hotel bill was extremely convenient Nice selection in the store Clean in the common areas and rooms Nice amenities in rooms and lobby The pool was beautiful and the workout room was excellent and very well equipped The guest safes were convenient and a lifesaverHuge homeless camp behind hotel, so tons of foot traffic through the driveway Delivery trucks block driveway throughout the day No coffee available after 10am No lunch at restaurantLots of small things broken in the rooms, but manager took the problems seriously and repairs were made promptly Minor issue with one of the elevators, and the ice machine on the 2nd floor is broken, loud and leakingWe would definitely stay again due to the staff’s commitment to our comfort, convenience, and security

This is the worst Hilton in San Diego, CA The way they took the angle of the hotel looks clean and big but once we arrived, the area is a dump, squash between Jack in the Box like this hotel was in the back alley

in which it is On the outside parking in the rear, you will see homeless encampment It is not safe and be aware that the camera inside the garage only have one view take and make sure you park once you enter the garageif you go further to where you are heading out, there is no camera in which that the camera angle only the entrance and not the other side The elevator and the hallway to any floors smell and has no air condition No complimentary breakfast in which they will charge you $2100 per person We told the front desk, we do not want serviceand they come anyway This place only looks good in the front main entrance to check in but the room are terriblepower outlet do not work, no fan vent in the restroom, and trust methey will try to charge you extra fees Parking is $1500 a night but you see other encampment RV park inside and they did not even care We only put friend family pet in the room for a min of 30 minutes and were charge $7500 for a service fee Stay away from this place and rent the one by the waterfront Other customer that slept during those days we stay said their bathroom was clogged and none of the maintenance did not care We have pay a premium during our stay in July of 2022and it was the worst stay At least have a security on duty patrolling the parking Have extra hotel luggage cart We have ask many time and they said they do not have it, in which we found out they only have 3 cart throughout the hotel in which we were lucking that one of the customer gave it to us down in the basement parking I would not come back to this placeI have seen many customer just walk across the alley to other restaurant to buy breakfast every morning It is a sad location and they need to disclose it online so everyone should be aware of booking it Be aware, check Google map 3d and you will thank me! Going back to lower end of other hotel that offer better service, complimentary, and care about customer spending these nights there
