DO NOT STAY HERE We were traveling through the area when we started to have truck trouble It was a Sunday so we couldn’t find a mechanic until morning

The young lady and young man who checked us in were very helpful and caring to our situation We rented a cabin for one night with the understanding we might have to stay longer depending on what was wrong with the truck We agreed to discuss the status with them by 11am on Monday I went to the desk at 11am to notify them I would need a late check out as the truck was being worked on An older lady at the desk was extremely rude and said if we were not out by noon they would charge us another day I asked if I could just put our things outside while we waited for my boyfriend to pick us up She said no either I move the things or get charged There was a heat advisory in the area but I lugged three loads of things up a gravel road to where our trailer was parked with one child and two dogs She said we could bring our things to the commons area but that was twice the distance away I barely made it to the parking lot We sat out in the heat for 40 minutes My boyfriend picked us up at 12:27 When we finally got on the road we had to stop at another hotel for a few hours just to rest and cool down as the dogs and I were not doing well The heat was just too muchThe absolute rudeness by the older lady and the manager was unbelievableThe area/cabins really could be nice if managed properly The rustic look was nice The pool and play area were nice The cabin was dirty, outdated, and smelled To top it off there was a large party in the yard making a bunch of noise until about midnight then there were mice in the kitchen that woke us up in the middle of the night Stay clear!!

I’ve stayed at the Smokehouse many times over the years A few more times as well after the restaurant burned down I’ve always a had a very pleasant time

Preferably I usually like to book a of the cabin Stayed in almost every one of them One, two, three bedroom All of them have a large jacuzzi, a fireplace that comes with the wood, full kitchen, a TV if you want to turn it on You’re tucked out in the back, away from everyone It’s pretty good It’s worth it Especially in the off season You can get em half off Sun – Thurs It’s the move But, if you’re just stopping in to sleep for the night Rooms inside the main hotel are nice too I got a double smoking room for just over $60 a night Fri Sat Sun, in the beginning of February It was exactly what I expected Better than Motel 6, better than Super 8 They cost about the same Yes it’s dated Whatever The staff have always been very friendly and helpful and the room and bed have always been clean Enough to my standards It’s a place to lay your head after enjoying any of the many outdoor adventures and activities the mountain and surrounding areas have to offerRecently I’ve been staying frequently in the main hotel I have noticed the bit of decline in quality of clean but it’s still better than the other places just down and across the street Smokehouse fan for life

The food and restaurant atmosphere was very good Waitress was very sweet We came for a bachelorette get away and rented a boat from here this was a disaster

No help at all on docks basically man walked us to boat didn’t provide a mad or any instructions Boat was old and run down not to mention they sent a group of women on a boat that didn’t even make it out of the cove when we returned to get “their backup boat” an hour later because that’s how long it took us because boat would not run right, again no help at docks…my daughter went inside to get some help to which boat we was suppose to be getting The little worker came out and made comment he was surprised we made it as far as we did in the previous boat and saying boat #4 motor had issues So point is they knew they was sending a bunch of women out on a boat that didn’t work Boat #2 ran better but would not recommend it either We paid for full day and actually after boating issue had 4 hours on boat After returning the boat and still no help, no dock workers in sight we left boat at dock This morning I was charged another $173 to my debit card I’m guess for fuel and maybe a late return since we left boat and left Never again will be rent from here Positive note the band at restaurant was amazing and very good drinks as well as food and restaurant staff

My in-laws visited for a couple of days They stayed in a room (not a cabin) I literally had to stand in a parking space to save it cause one employee had just vacated it and another employee was about to park there

It was directly in front of my in-law’s room Why aren’t the parking places in front of the rooms RESERVED just for the rooms? Employee parking and Blue Gill Grill patrons should be over to the right parking lotnot just wherever There are parking spots reserved for housekeeping, Blue Gill manager, Blue Gill GM, and the Patton family, but not for people who paid money for these rooms Not happy!!!

The Sewanee Inn is an excellent hotel! Everything is first class The pillows are soft, they towels are luxurious, the coffee maker has its own sink and there is a nightlight in the room The shower is great and the bathroom has an exhaust fan, unlike most hotels

Half of the rooms have a view of the golf course The restaurant has excellent food The prices of the rooms are very reasonable for the quality This is a great place to relax

The visits to the mill are always enjoyable, especially on days where the weather is nice They have added a few buildings since we started going The older man, John, is always nice and well informed

They will show you all about how the equipment operates and it is very cool However, the absolute best part is the food!!! When you hear about people eating grits and different things like flour, they are nothing like what we get in stores or restaurants Honestly, I haven’t really found ANY I like outside of Falls Mill grits Anything else tastes like cardboard or worst All the “tasteless” machine lubricants, chemicals, etc and excessive storage required for modern production and distribution are not found They just spin a rock around, powered by water, and grind the food (I double the water on the grits and stir regularly, top open) There are walking trails and plenty to enjoy on the outside If you haven’t been, you should go I don’t know of any of their products I don’t like If you don’t go, try the food!!The B&B is new since we have been, but are talking about going now 😉
