Beautiful view Food was delicious! Service was slow Maybe she was new? A local told us to eat there

Halibut bites were so yummy for the appetizer dinner was so good we ordered dessert That was a little let down After a beautiful presentation we expected a continued presentationPlenty of parking, we only went for dinner There are some really cool totems that the gal in the gift shop can tell you about Her father did them, or the lodge can give you the paper about them You can stay here as well They also have trails everywhere

I have lived in this hotel twice And every time I have been here, I have had nothing but a memorable experience I can easily say this hotel is one of the best in its class

The foods are delicious and one of the best I have ever eaten in a hotel Their services are top-notch, the hospitality is none to any I have experienced I highly recommend this hotel

Love love love, cape fox That being said, having stayed there a half a dozen times I don’t think my television has ever worked

Not that it really matters when the view out of your window is so breath taking But I still like to watch the news All of that thought, I will say the awsome staff makes this a five star experience Ken was the most helpful staff member I have ever met in all my years of traveling

This place was perfect for our two nights in Ketchikan It is very close to the Alaska Marine Highway Ferry Dock and the Airport Ferry which were within walking distance We were greeted by friendly and helpful staff

Our room was much nicer than other places we’ve stayed in for comparable price They even stored our luggage for us at no additional cost until we could check in at 3pm so we could do some sight seeing We did notice a VERY STRONG odor of cigarette smell as soon as we got off the elevator to head to our room I checked with the front desk to ensure it was a non smoking hotel, which they confirmed was, I reported the smell right away and the manager came up stairs to spray air freshener and open a window and even gave me some for our room which unfortunately also smelled of cigarette smoke Overall the room was very clean and quite comfortable and the staff was also very kind and accommodating I would have given 5 stars had they enforced the NO SMOKING policy Seems to be a big problem in Alaska hotels!!

Worst place I have ever stayed If I could give zero stars, I would My room didn’t have a toilet seat

I requested one twice, but the front desk attendant was too high to keep a train of thought for more than 10 seconds He couldn’t even remember his password to the computer when checking in, which was about an hour ordeal Room was dirty; it looked like someone had just cleaned a fish in the sink Don’t waste your money at My Place in Ketchikan!

Patricia Williams

The first front desk person is rude, laughing at me, I didn’t realize that I rented a 1 bed hotel, she stayed outside the entire time for her shift just visiting people and sat in her car The front desk has a sign that we are to call from the lobby area to reach the front desk When I called she entered from out the front door from her vehicle

When the phone rang she ignored it and rudely assumed that my teenage son dialed the front desk so she ignored the phone for an hour in which she made us wait for check in The room is stink it smells like garbage We did not tell anyone until the new front desk person was on duty Then they didn’t accommodate us My charge was already paid for so we’re stuck in the stink hotel

I travel a fair amount and I can’t say enough good things about this place Clean, comfortable, amazing location and amazing service I am in the hospitality business and I can say the service here is top notch

I would stay again and I would recommend it to people I know It’s an old building but they have done an amazing job keeping it up and adding fun touches to the room This is the kind of place I would look for in a town like Ketchikan, it’s a piece of history

Amy McFarland

First off, location is perfect – it’s within easy walking distance of so many wonderful little shops, and right across the street from the dock and visitor’s center It’s a historic hotel, and I found that charmingThat being said, it’s a historic hotel

If you’re there for a decent night of sleep or a shower, you might consider elsewhere Our stay started with being unable to open the room door The electronic key worked, but the door would not budge The gentleman from the front desk had to come body slam it open and slam it shut The door apparently had swollen a bit and needs to be shaved down Every time we needed in or out, we had to forcefully throw a shoulder into it, HARD, or slam it shut Bathroom door – same The rooms use a radiator type of heat, and when the boiler is working, prepare for 15-20 minutes of loud, rhythmic banging of the pipes, a little 15 minute break or so, and then another round of loud banging, followed by some blessed quiet, then a round of clicking from the radiator itself Once that finally settled down, every time a neighbor used the plumbing, the whooshing of the water pipes started inThe bathroom is also rather historic I have never used such a small shower, including in an RV There’s room to step in, but not to raise your arms to lather or rinse hair The shower nozzle is moveable, but does not stay in position, so if you’re a medium height bather, prepare for water shooting into your eyes, while the water alternates between shockingly cold and scalding without warning (and you can’t escape because the stall is two feet square) Honestly this was possibly the most comedic shower of my life, what with all the yelping, elbow banging, maneuvering and cursing The bathroom area allows another six square feet, which is mostly taken up by the toilet and a pedestal sink, so it was another comedy trying to get dressedPossibly the worst night of sleep I’ve ever had in a hotel, but Ketchikan is absolutely beautiful I’d just never again stay here

A real mix of pros and cons here:Pros:Location, right by AMH dock and bus stopsService, including shuttle from airport ferryRestaurant is pricey, but decent diner food

Cons:”Management Reception”: The front desk sends you upstairs, promising drinks and appetizers, but the pub staff is annoyed when you show up and the appetizers aren’t complimentary So, even though at every other hotel a management reception is a free gathering, this one is “come spend money at our pub” and an awkward experience to boot since waitstaff have to deal with mismanaged customer expectations Left a real bad taste in our mouthHard mattressesNo a/c, but open your windows and a fan is provided Unfortunately, it can be loud, just because of the busy street Also had bad luck with being in the room that people liked hanging outside of (I have no idea why)

The landing restaurant (Kennicott)We came in on the Ferry as one of our stops & decided to eat here because it was the only restaurant visible from the shipWe ordered the Calamari, the Western Bacon Burger w/Fries & a Steak Sandwich w/FriesThe Fries were out of this world! They appeared & tasted to be made from fresh potatoes which is rare

I hate the crispy coated fries that everyone’s trying to pass of now a days (like BK, as opposed to McD)They steak sandwich had only one bun (on the bottom) so I wouldn’t call it a sandwich, it was pretty average as well as was the burger The service was very slow but everyone from our boat literally showed up at the same time so I expected that They serve the whole menu allday which is a bonus because it was 9AM & I wasn’t feeling like having eggs They have a large menu & much to choose from I’d eat here if I were a localMake sure to have the fries!!

I stayed 5 nights with Paul, Patty and Kaylee as my hosts They were beyond generous, helped me plan hikes and activities, showed me around and made sure I was well fed(Kaylee’s baking was phenomenal)This is a great place to stay for the budget traveler and offers a wonderful family atmosphere you can’t get at a hotel

I highly recommend itI would suggest you plan your days and your gear to accommodate the hostel closing hours from 9am to 5pm That was a surprise to me when I arrived, but ok, as there are many activities and hikes to keep you busy during that time It does get rainy, we are in Ketchikan after all, so make sure you have rain gear too, for when you are out and about during the closed hours

John Smith

I’ve stayed here 3 out 5 years, since 2014Absolutely awesome placeWould be great if the out time was from 10 am ’till 5 pm, instead of the current 9 am ’till 5 pm, though
