My family stayed here while attending a military honors funeral Just the history of the hotel makes it such an honor to be a guest The breakfast buffet is excellent

We had a room to celebrate with our group of classmates and the service was great Beautiful historic place The rooms are small but it’s location makes it easy to attend any event inside West Point Military Academy We will definitely be back and will recommend

Dave Decker

I stayed here during a road trip to the East Coast I really liked the historic, gorgeous building and grounds The room was very clean, large, and had great views of the Hudson

Accessing the place seems intimidating – going through a guard gate and all – but the hotel is well within walking distance to town The staff was very friendly (especially the valets – knowledgeable, friendly, and extremely professional), the food in the bar is great, and breakfast was good but (of course) expensive I’d return anytime

Erica Barnes

We stayed at the Thayer Hotel the beginning of May We absolutely adored the charm and history of The Thayer I felt like I was in Europe

The accommodations were great, they have a great fitness room and the staff was extremely nice and helpful (especially with us coming in so late after a 13 hour drive) Enjoyed eating at Zulu Time, but didn’t have enough time to try the other restaurants Will definitely stay there as much as we can over the next 4 years!

I put five stars for the front desk Meg and SamThe room was clean, spacious, and comfortable The room had a microwave, coffee maker, and fridge

I had room 233, which had a king size bed and showerThat specific room is very close to the elevator which was not ideal for my son and I for that peculiar trip We had to go to bed early because of having to wake up super early so I got waken up a couple of times by kids excitement in the hallway and their running Pick this room if you have a deep sleep

أحد أحد

I had forgotten my wallet in the room after checking out the honest cleaning service people turned it to the front desk and they mailed it back to me this happened to me once before, but “they couldn’t find my items”I greatly appreciate their honesty and the effort they put in to return my belongings to me

will recommend this hotel and I will come back in the future

Nelly Girgis

The best Front Desk employee we have ever met

Meghan Young We travelled on July 30th and stayed one night at this hotel We had another reservation at another hotel the following Friday We actually changed the place and decided to return to this hotel because of the impeccable service we received by Meghan The Hotel is beautiful, very clean, breakfast is very good but Meghan still stands out and was the main reason we returned and plan on going back Thank you sooooo very much Meghan for making us feel at homeThis type of employees take the job to heart and really treat it like they would their own business

We had a wonderful lunch at this inn We were greeted and led to a perfect table by the open door

allowing the beautiful breeze and view to join our table, which added to the start of a perfect dining experience The staff was amazingly attentive, the food made to perfection, and our waitress, Debra , could not have done anything more to make our experience more delightful She was pleasant, emphatic about the menu, and very attentive to all of our requests and questions We even let the manager know that his staff were just wonderfulhe too was delightful and happy to hear about our experience Do not go to Cold Spring without having lunch or dinner at Hudson House and Inn !

Tomi Rues

We recently stayed here and we highly recommend it First, we were treated well by Tami, who booked our reservation, and even gave me her cell number if I needed anything; then we were taken very good care of by Mike He was amazing

If I could have packed him in my suitcase and brought him home, I would have He makes everything easier He made our stay very nice with his attention to detail and helpful waysThe location, historical value, clean rooms, delicious food, and excellent customer service make this place a great choice the next time you visit Cold Spring

We had the pleasure of hosting our son & future DIL’s rehearsal dinner for 35 here last Saturday night Working with Craig planning this went smoothly – I am VERY particular & have hosted numerous events for our 3 kids & family- but he was response & kept up & executed all I needed

We didn’t get a chance to thank Chef John in person but have to say, being foodies, we & our guests were beyond pleased Everything was great & they even packed up 2 complete dinners for my sister & hubby as their flight was delayed so they joined at the hotel & enjoyed everything immensely! Several of our guests needed alternatives to my planned menu & were accommodated with delicious meals, not just something thrown together! We could not have asked for better service from Judy & Amanda & bartender Tammy (Mike Too)- They get it! The restaurant is a short walk to the water & the “kids” took pictures at the gazebo there between courses We wish Hudson House was closer to home so we will just have to enjoy the lovely ride up there again soon

Janet Richey

The Overlook Lodge is something of an annex of the Bear Mountain Inn The downfalls of booking here are that the place hasn’t been updated in a very long time, there is one vending machine in the lobby that doesn’t have much, and is really expensive There was only one person on staff in the lobby on Friday until 11PM , and Saturday during the day

There is no elevator, so if that is an issue, ask to be placed in a first floor room The road leading to the lodge is almost impossible to get to on the first try, because it looks more like an access road, and the roads haven’t been paved since Rudy Guiliani was mayor of NYC Look out for potholes! The plus side is that there is a gorgeous view of Hessian Lake from the main balcony, and or from your room if you’re lucky to get one on that side The person that did staff the front desk was very friendly The rooms were very clean, and the beds were uncommonly comfortable for a hotel The heating system took a bit to get used to, but it’s better than the window units you’re used to seeing Any money they spent on upgrades must have gone towards the climate control They have a security layer in place that requires you to have room key to get into the lobby when there’s no one at the front desk This place blended into the nature surrounding it It felt isolated, but oddly safe If you’re expecting the hospital like ambience of a Hampton Inn, this isn’t the place to go It has way more charm than that, and a few less services

Steven V Z

The Overlook Lodge is horrible dump that is not maintained Stinks, chipped paint on the building door, and floor mats at the building entrance that’s permanently stained I paid $315/night for a bland room with a parking lot view

It was so bad, we left after the first night, cutting our trip short Avoid it at all costs You can visit the Bear Mountain State Park without staying in the Bear Mountain Inn/Overlook Lodge Worst option if you have a pet with you

Chris McAuliffe

Reserved a room in Beaver cabin It was a terrible experience The ac unit was not working and the room was very hot

The room also had quite a noticable odor The room was advertised to have a queen bed, but the bed in the room was a full The room was also very tiny The staff was gracious enough to let us check out early and provided a refund

What we liked: The staff was friendly, and the layout of the hotel was nice We enjoyed the outdoor seating during breakfast What we didn’t like: The floors were dirty

We do not like to where shoes in the room and found some red sticky substance all over our socks The room was vacuumed upon request, but this should not have occurred to begin with The furniture needs updating The mattress was too soft, as were the pillows The couch cushions were extremely worn down, they were sunken in before even sitting on them The air conditioner was loud and did not provide consistent temperature and the ceiling fan was also noisy The breakfast was standard, they did not provide fresh cooked eggs of your choice like some other Hiltons

elisa holland

Overall excellent, very clean and safe for individual traveller, good size rooms very quiet ( even with a full baseball team 5ere, didn’t hear anything Excellent water pressure in the shower and lots of hot water Breakfast decent

Loved that there were several pet stations that had poop bags and there was green space to walk

Highly recommend this hotel very clean staff is so helpful and nice My kids and I had a nice time at the pool which was also clean the rooms are a little dated but this is the best hotel you can stay at for the price honestly I was really pleased at breakfast as I ask someone for a alternative to the pork and the lady went to the back and made my family and I turkey sausages

Our dream trip-we had the best time! Neil and Darlene were very accommodating Place was spotless and comfortable, and they were always nearby to answer any questions or concerns we had during our stay Breakfast was scrumptious

There is a snack and coffee/tea area for guests Neil even drove us to town and offered to drive us to the nearby train station when our stay was up (and sang to us when he found out it was our anniversary!!) 1000% Recommend

Neil and Darlene, you have done it What a wonderful stay we had and it was due in no small part to the Swann Inn The place is lovingly decorated and adorned with care, the hosts were friendly and helpful, and the beds extremely comfortable

We looked forward to breakfast each morning and were sad to leave We would happily come back, not just for Beacon, but just for this wonderful BnBWe stayed in the Green Willow Room over Labor Day weekend We booked back in July The room had its own bathroom, toiletries, etc, and a very comfortable bed for the two of us About a 5 minute drive to Main Street on Beacon, the place was a very convenient location to most of the town’s attractions

Shauna Ghorbani

I cannot express enough how much I loved staying at Bear Mountain Inn! My boyfriend and I planned a last minute trip here and from before we even booked the trip, Bear Mountain Inn was extremely helpful and accommodating Commuting from the city can be confusing and they were very helpful with instructions (if you’re planning on coming from NYC, use Coach USA! Drops you off right in front of the hotel) They also were kind enough to give us early check-in since our bus dropped us off so early! We stayed in one of the cottages and it was so clean and cozy

The resort itself has plenty to offer and is incredibly beautiful We did not go to the restaurant, but the front desk was kind enough to give us a list of places that deliver to the hotel which was so helpful Check-out is 11am, but our bus was not arriving until 5pm The front desk was beyond kind enough to let us leave our bags in the lobby so we could enjoy a few more hours of the resort I never write Google reviews, but I had to for the Inn Thank you Bear Mountain Inn for such an amazing experience!!!

Christian & Mari Coerds

We had a wonderful stay at Bear Mountain Inn It’s clean, beautiful, and rustic Truly an experience itself, with the beautiful lake to stroll around in the mornings, hikes galore

The rooms are beautiful, spacious and clean And, the customer service is amazing! They are very accommodating and generous The restaurant is really good too!

Stacy

We stayed in room 304 Room was extremely clean, bathroom slightly outdated and worn, bed was comfy and room larger than expected Extremely helpful and friendly

Rather hard to sleep with air conditioner requiring major updating AC unit in room was very noisy, extremely cold when on then when off room got rather warm Hotel was pleasant inside, would recommend to stay during week as opposed to weekend to avoid large dirty crowds of people blasting music and leaving trash all over lake picnic area…that was disappointing and sad to see

Loved how clean and modern this hotel was! Everything is sparkling clean and all of the staff seem to take pride in their work and are very friendly The rooms are well laid-out with kitchenettes so you can cook for yourself if you’d like The breakfast has a lot of nice hot options such as sausage, scrambled eggs, kielbasa, 🧇 -as well as yogurt, cereal, baked goods, fruit, and hard-boiled eggs

We also had biscuits and gravy on the first day we stayed and hash browns on the second day The pool is smaller but adequate and there is a small bar in the lobby as well Excellent value for the money!

Christine Petrella

We were in town for a funeral, so needless to say it was a great relief that the hotel was fantastic Clean, large rooms, an indoor pool for the kids (which was a great release after the wake), there was pull out couch which was perfect for the kids to share The TV was on a swivel and had Netflix access which again, kept the kids busy

The staff was friendly and accommodating, breakfast was really good, gym had everything and was clean! We were really impressed with our stay

Jenks Britt

I don’t usually leave reviews for places that I stay, But this place stood out It stood out to me because of one person, this one person made my stay better than I could’ve imagined He knew my name, called me by it and remembered the room I was staying in

That guy is David He is a fantastic worker and deserves to be in a higher leadership role in the company or the hotel He blew my expectations away and I hope someone sees this and awards him for his kindness If you’re ready this David, You killed it, my guyThe Only gripe I have with this hotel is that there was not enough hot water to take a shower with sadly Other than That it was greatPros- David- BreakfastCons- Hot water issue

Our overall experience in this hotel was average ‘good’ Nothing really stood out as exemplary but almost everything was as expected They did not have any rooms available as of the 3pm check-in and we had to wait till about 3:35

The only real negative was that the desk chair was very loose and felt ready to break We didn’t use it Also, the TV should be a little bigger than the 32″ or so size that was in the room

I typically don’t take the time to leave reviews unless I’m impressed one way or the other I wasn’t impressed For a relatively new facility, it had some holes in the caulking around the shower

The first night we were there it seemed like the people in the room above us were going to come through the ceiling as they were walking/running/jumping/stomping up until about 11:00 pm I’ve never experienced a real earthquake before but now have an idea of what to expect if I do We were on the first floor near the front desk so they had to be aware of the circus in town on the second floor but apparently didn’t feel the need to do anything about it The refrigerator wasn’ t working and had to be swapped out on Day 2 The front desk personnel were perfunctory in their duties and it was obvious that they really didn’t want to be there The most helpful employees were the cleaning/maintenance staff They were pleasant and attentive to our needs and the only reason I gave a rating of 2 stars I know that I wasn’t booking a room at the Ritz-Carlton but I do have a basic level of expectation when I stay at a hotel I’ve stayed at Holiday Inn Express hotels in the past and have been satisfied with their staff, facilities and service, however, this one pales in comparison I can’t/won’t recommend it

Cynthia Crawford

Staff was friendly and very helpful during our five day stay They even provided a wheelchair to help get my great aunt to and from the room No request from the front desk was a bother and we had several (extra coffee pods, sewing kit, dish soap, toothbrush, quarters to wash, and I’m sure I’m forgetting something

) Rooms were space, comfortable, and clean My aunt mentioned multiple times how comfortable her bed was

Bee Gees

Rooms are very clean and nice The only problem we had was the toilet got clogged a few times on just liquid A very nice hotel overall

Some sketchy people in cars and a few cigarette-y smells in the hall sometimes but it’s a good choice if you’re looking to stay in this area They have a nice indoor pool and the bathroom smelled nice Nice service and they clean every 2 days A big fridge and they have a hot and cold breakfast

00 dollars for pillow cases

First drinks on the patio, What an excellent view!! Asked for the “date table” it’s in front of the fireplace Eric, our waiter, excellent!! I had the seafood tower It’s an appetizer, but I think that it’s too much food for an appetizer, it should be an entree! I wish I took a photo of it before I ate itEvery time my wife and I come here we are never disappointed Superb service, food, and atmosphere I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!PS- If you like history do some research on the mansion- fascinating!!

The hotel is fairly easy to find; entrance is right along the highway The staff seems friendly and helpful enough And the rooms are fairly spacious and clean

A buffet style breakfast is also included But alas, this is where my compliments endEvery few seconds I could hear a roar outside my room’s window At first I thought they were jet airplanes rumbling down the runway for takeoff Then I realized that the noise was coming from the adjacent highway and the commercial trucks rolling down the highway and making this roaring noise I think the rooms need better soundproofing Next, when we stepped outside for the day and returned to our room later, we were shocked to find out that the add-a-lock on our room’s door, the one that can only be engaged when you’re inside your room for extra security at night, was engaged and there was no way for us to enter our room This was, to say the least, very perplexing and surprised us very much At first I thought we were at the wrong hotel room And after triple checking, we were positive that we were at the correct room So we had to go downstairs to the lobby and inform the receptionist that we needed help to get back into our room She immediately went into defensive mode and started blaming us that maybe we slammed the door, and that was the reason why the lock engaged itself First of all, we never slam our hotel door, no matter where we stay We’re very considerate of other people Second of all, if that were true that the door had been slammed, the receptionist should not even accuse us of that because the lock should never self engage with the slamming of a door Even though someone from maintenance came fairly quick to help us enter our room, the experience with that receptionist left a sour memory in my mindAlso, we requested a room near the elevator I’m blind and have a difficult time walking long distances to look for specific things like the elevator Our room was pretty far from the elevator And although I know that this kind of thing is based on availability, we did notice that people arrived the day after we did and were given rooms much closer to the elevatorThis next point may be a bit of a nitpick, but the buffet breakfast seems to be lacking in traditional breakfast meats I had scrambled eggs and some kind of sausage It wasn’t a traditional breakfast link, instead it tasted more like a sweet hot dog And no bacon either? There were cold cuts, but cold cuts for breakfast really aren’t my thing All this for nearly $460/night Really?! I couldn’t help but notice that we paid almost as much as one week in an all-inclusive Beach resort for only two nights in this hotel These are the reasons for my 3⭐ review We were in Newburgh for the wedding of a close friend, and drove nearly 4 hours So I’m not really sure if I would stay in this hotel again ☹️

Friendly staff Decent sized 2x queen room Breakfast options were good

The main issue was the hot water for a shower was barely warm enough to not be cold while getting a shower Additional sound deadening would be good too We could hear regular volume conversations next door in our first floor room The noise from the second floor that night, well, only so much you can do about that

Shelley Jennings

The staff are friendly, professional and efficient The room and bathroom were spacious and very clean My one small criticism is that the shower flow is rather weak and the temperature of the water is tepid to cool

I like a hit shower and I couldn’t get the temperature warm enough to my satisfaction This is a relatively complaint This is a new hotel and everything is clean, and attractive The breakfast is okay You will find oatmeal, eggs, hash browns, mini-muffins, bagels, toast and chocolate or plain waffles that you make There’s an assortment of juices and teas as well as coffee I usually have yogurt, but I don’t like Yoplait I believe most people will find something to eat, just as I did

This is a very well operated hotel with extremely polite and responsive staff The lobby, pool, and breakfast areas are clean and bright, and the staff was very quick to refill the free hot drink station every time they saw someone use it Breakfast was typical budget hotel stuff, but the waffles are very good and there is a good variety of items

Rooms had modern TVs with built in streaming and new modern furniture There was carpeting in the halls and rooms, but it was clean and new The AC units in the rooms were the old fashioned behemoths that sit under a window, and they looked like they could stand to be cleaned, but they worked well to keep the room at the right temp The hotel building itself was in an office park without any restaurants nearby, but if you need medical supplies or an urgent care, you are in luck I stayed here for nearby Legoland, this appears to be the closest budget hotel, and it was just a couple minutes away, so I would definitely stay again

An interesting stay Nothing inherently wrong with nothing inherently impressive either Normally for a hotel stay that is as expected I would give 4 stars and be done with it, but there were just a few oddities about the place that I’d like to share

For example, the refrigerator in our room was off, this may seem like no biggie but in every hotel I’ve ever been in they are on and already cold and we didn’t actually notice it until the morning after our first night stay and nothing was cold TV, I don’t know if they do it for fun but the responsiveness of the Philips television in our room was like waiting for a dial up connection The fitness center, no indication it was in the basement, just ask you saywell we did, but there wasn’t anyone at the front desk and we had to ask the staff who were cooking and serving breakfast by going to the kitchen The emergency instructions on the elevators, were unreadable, either completely worn out or scraped off on the 1st and 3rd floor (didn’t check the 2nd)So yeah, strange non deal breaking things Everything seemed clean and cozy otherwise and a very convenient location based on our activities for the weekend

Robert Hufnagel

Robert Hufnagel, I was going to Legoland, and made a reservation for two nights The Hotel front desk, we’re all very friendly and was able to check in with Kobe, with no problemsRooms were Clean and the bathroom was clean

The beds and pillows were so comfortable The swimming pool was nice and clean You get free breakfast in the morning from 6:30 AM to 9:00 AM Loren, the lady who worked in the kitchen, was very nice and friendly and helpful My overall stay was very Good Good Customer Service 👍

Food was incredible and service was great! Our server had blue or green streaks in her hair, can’t remember her name Great service! Cocktails were incredible as well We came here to celebrate our 2 year anniversary, and it didn’t disappoint

My boyfriend said it’s one of the best chicken sandwiches he has ever had, and the burger was to die for The ox tail tots are definitely a great way to start And of course, the view 😍

We loved this hotel! It’s located perfectly on the east end of Main Street, so there are a ton of cute stores and restaurants within walking distance The included breakfast was nice; it consisted of yogurt, a small bagel, and a muffin, plus coffee / tea and orange juice We stayed in the building where the lobby is located, and our room had amazingly high ceilings

I really enjoyed how much natural light we got The is super comfy We came in the middle of a heat wave in August and the room AC kept us cool I never heard other hotel guests, so I think the sound insulation is also pretty goodThere were some odd things about the room though that I took off a few points for, including that the bathroom door is a sliding barn style door so you’re not going to get perfect privacy, and in our bathroom, the entire shower handle hardware was able to be pulled out about an inch from the shower tile, so that we could literally see into the wall It wasn’t a problem for us, but I could see why some people would have issues with the bathroom
