We booked a block of rooms for our wedding The room was great, and the staff were helpful and friendly The bar closes fairly early, so we had to move our after-party elsewhere

If booking a block of rooms, note that a very steep fee is charged for unused rooms, and they are unwavering on it We had multiple cancellations in our block due to the travel issues and COVID, and these rooms were ultimately charged to our master account This policy is very different from other hotels in the area, so just be sure you can meet their minimum requirements I would definitely stay here again, but there are probably more flexible options for wedding blocks in the area

*Update to reply to the manager’s reply below*If you truly cared, you would actually call me back I’ve literally left 2 voicemails and my information with two other staff members, asking for a call back There is absolutely no excuse to not have called me back to resolve this

Baffling how a simple task such as shipping a small item back seems beyond your capabilitiesThe hotel itself was great, but the staff has been absolutely incompetent in following up with a simple lost and found request We let the front desk know we thought an item may have been lost in the hotel We received a call a few days later saying it had been found and to fill out a form on a website, which we did We then heard nothing I placed three calls to the hotel, leaving a message on housekeeping voicemail once and speaking with a front desk representative the other two times I never received a call back from anyone I filled out the form on April 3rd and finally received notice on May 23rd that they had my item (which we already knew) and to fill out a form for shipping The shipping rates for a hat and gloves are $37 at the cheapest and $54 for the most expensive, which is absolutely outrageous for an item to be shipped 3 hours in-stateI now cannot get through to anyone at the hotel and am on hold with Marriott customer service Incredibly disappointed in what should have been a simple request to ship items back to a loyal customer

The only place I will ever stay when I come to Pittsburgh is The Oaklander Gorgeous rooms, a beautiful rooftop bar and steps from many great restaurants My only gripe is the staff is 50/50 here

Sometimes you get super friendly people and other times they have been very standoffish but the rooms and views keep me coming back! Super friendly valet staff too!

I’ve been coming here for years If you stay for a few days you won’t regret itExcellent location (well, when downtown isn’t all construction but that’s not their fault) Rooms are nice, bathrooms cool, beds comfy Breakfast is amazing Pancakes are yummy, eggs were great Pool is small but works Highly recommend this hotel Will come back next time we are in The ‘Burgh

DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL this is easily a 2 star hotel being masked with fancy decor I stayed there April 8th 2022, first off there are NO Vending machines on any floor, the bar has super over priced beer and hardly any selection

The room has outdated tech from the 90s, the bathroom was the only highlight The breakfast was 18 bucks for basic food not worth it The staff was great that’s about it But do yourself and a favor and never book here

We stayed in Pittsburgh for 3 days at the Cambria We thought it was a mistake when our room was not cleaned the first day We asked for service and they surprisingly asked “you mean clean the room?”

I asked for beds to be made and towels to be changed This was noted on the room file on the computer Or so we were told At my insistence they made the beds and changed the towels The next day my husband asked in the morning for the beds to be made and the towels changed (as a reminder) The front desk again noted it We came back from a long day out on the second day and found yet again nothing had been touched in the room I went downstairs and asked for the room to be serviced The abrupt and rude older gentleman at the counter explained “we don’t do that in Pittsburgh” He made it sound like it was unreasonable We paid over $200 plus $25 for parking a night and no breakfast included We did not book a cheap motel Why did we pick the Cambria we had wanted a nice little hotel with a pool to add insult to injury the pool was closed our whole stay and the sofa bed had a dangerous piece of metal sticking out of it the first nightIf you do not provide service to the room daily state it on your website I have a family and this little bit of service helps when travelling with kids I was struck by the inconsistent information from the front desk staff and the rudeness of the older man who I am assuming was the manager

Horrible service compared to other 5 star hotels or even hotels with fewer stars Many receptionists ignored us and kept us waiting whilst chatting amongst themselves We waited patiently for them to finish helping this white woman

After they were done, 3 or more staff members behind and around reception stared into space or chatted for quite a while before even acknowledging us A man who looked like the manager also stood around allowing this to happen and also ignored us When they finally got to us, the tone we received was one of indifference It was pretty shocking to be treated this wayI’ve eaten at the restaurant, fl 2, before The food was not bad However, more recently, I was turned away at the door from even getting one quick drink at the bar once when it was 30 minutes from closing The bar in the lobby, Andy’s, had great cocktails thoughIt’s too bad that it’s the only “5 star” hotel in this city because I definitely wouldn’t recommend this one

I used to love this hotel

So it saddens me to say that this past visit was terrible I got the presidential suite for my wife and I to have a romantic getaway night The room was in poor repair Coffee machine had no water reservoir on it, furniture stained, etc There was no glasses or silverware in the full kitchen I ordered two wine glasses from room service and it took a full hour for them to be delivered The restaurant and bar was closed We had to walk up the street to the liquor store just so that we could have a drink! While everyone working there was polite, they did NOTHING to make our stay any better I asked for the manager to call me in the room and he couldn’t even be bothered to call and talk with me Unfortunately, a once beautiful hotel has fallen to the level of a Best Western Needles to say, we will be finding somewhere else for the next time

Matt Sticklen

This was probably the worst experience we had at a high $$$ hotel ever We prepaid for 2 rooms and we’re told we could check in at 3pm When we arrived at 2 pm they told us our rooms should be ready at 3pm and they would text us when it was ready

We never received any communication from them at all My wife had to call multiple times to check to see if the rooms were ready They told her that they weren’t sure when either one of the rooms would be cleaned and ready for check in Finally after 4pm she called again and they said one room was ready Checked into one room to discover the carpet was dirty, light bulbs out, mold under the glass on the desk and all in all just nasty for 5 star hotel To make it even worse they sent a text message at 6pm to tell us our second room was ready They offered free breakfast and parking This hotel is in a perfect location in downtown Pittsburgh, but I wouldn’t waste this kind of money to stay there again

It was good Christine at the front desk was amazing and gave us so many restaurant recommendations! However, the room was not very clean to Marriott standards and the couch had some very questionable stains on it which I would not sit on I even tried flipping the cushions but they were on both sides

The bed was comfortable and very good water pressure Breakfast was good

Customer service was and is always outstanding We have stayed at this hotel for years when coming home to visit family I’m retired military and my son is active duty

He and my granddaughter arrived early on our last visit and the staff was very accommodating in getting them a room close to us Breakfast was very good and the area was very clean Once agian, all hotel staff personnel were friendly and very attentive Big hit for us were the room(s) this visit Curtains/shades had large cuts and red stains all over them, floors were greasy and slippery in kitchen and bathroom area, etc (Big decline)If the rooms and some of the common/hallway areas get a make over/cleaned up that would improve your ratings and prevent us from seeking another hotel with better/cleaner accommodations I hope you make these suggested modifications because we really do love staying at the this hotel

Jay Mack

Overall, I would have to say that I was very disappointed in our stay at their hotel My son and I were just there for a baseball tournament and we stayed at their hotel When we arrived, there was a sign on the front desk stating that the pool was closed (nice feature and part of our decision to stay there with a baseball team needing to unwind between games)

I inquired and they said it would be fixed and ready to go the next day We found out later that evening it wouldn’t be fixed until Monday after we were gone They offered no form of apologies or compensation for thisNext, I called and asked if they could send up sheets and a pillow for the pull out sofa (used to be standard in the room or hospitality would send it up) and they told me to come and get it from the front deskFinally, our room had a kitchenette and I found it curios that there were limited plates and utensils in the cabinet I looked in the dishwasher and found it full with water and grime sitting in the cups and bowls (ones which were not upside down to allow the water to drain) I found this disturbing because I have no idea how long they were sitting there and would not use themI don’t think I would stay at this particular hotel again!

This is a great hotel! We stayed here for a few weeks and the hotel and staff were amazing! The location provides easy access to everything in and out of the city The rooms are all unique and well done The fitness center, the restaurant, the business center, cleaning services and the valet kept us moving throughout the day

The people were very responsive and timely with anything we needed Nothing in the hotel business is 100% perfect but this hotel’s staff is invested in getting it right and made our experience here wonderful You can’t go wrong at this upscale, unique / boutique hotel

Carsten

We liked our stay Parking is a bit of a challenge here Valet is offered but difficult to get a spot close to front door

At this hotel you have to call and ask for ice to be brought to your room Our shower area had drywall/tape falling down from the ceiling The air conditioner sounded like an airplane taking off when it turned on Otherwise, it’s a very cool building with great architecture Great rooms that are clean The staff are friendly and do a great job Jordan at the front desk was helpful, professional and friendly

Carly P

Beautiful hotel, great combination of historic and modern Awesome location, very walkable to tons of places We had a corner king room on the 16th floor and the room was smaller than I expected but we had a fantastic view

Employees were very courteous and they even do crafts in the common room to keep as a souvenir It was pretty clean-some hair in the shower which was kind of gross but it didn’t ruin the stay or anything One recommendation though-vending machine!

This hotel was excellent, and that’s from me, who is old and cranky The young man at the desk the late afternoon of April 7th was friendly and very helpful The room was spotless

The free breakfast was real breakfast, not a box with some muffins in it We travel with a small dog, and the hotel put $200 on my card for amenities, so I think that if the dog damaged something (it didn’t), they would take it from that That’s fair – I would expect to pay for any damages What I appreciate is that if there are no damages, we don’t pay anything This is opposed to a recent stay at another hotel, which charged a $5000 pet fee regardless of any damagesThe South Side location was very good – quiet in the evening, and convenient to where we needed to be (Carnegie Mellon University)Parking was excellent – in a garage beneath the buildingFinally, I was happy with the cost Room rate, taxes, fees, and one night of parking for under $20000Going forward, we won’t stay anywhere else

sue gee

This was by far the best hotel stay we have ever had! There are only 2 negative things I have about this place and that’s the parking garage situation and how they definitely shouldn’t be charging $20 a night for what that was and the fridge stunk horribly

other than that so much was within 5 min walking or 10-20 min driving distance Loved there was a marina and bike trail entrance close by There’s construction going on next door and we barely heard anything We didn’t hear anything from the other guests in the hotel The rooms were decent sized for a family of 4 The shower was huge and the pressure was superb 👌 👏🏽 finally!! They tried the best they could with breakfast Pretty similar options to most major hotels and the pool was fine But my favorite part was the view over looking the river When I’m back in Pittsburgh this is the only place I want to stay Sorry I don’t have pictures inside the room I thought I had a video but I can’t find it

Josh Prew

This is the worst Hyatt property we have ever stayed at and is now on our avoid listParking: Parking garage requires double parking This means that you must hand over your keys to the front desk in case they need to move your car

We found our rental car moved and smelling of smoke – it appears that someone had smoked in our rentalBreakfast: We went to breakfast at 9 (they close at 9:30) and found that they were out of nearly everything No coffee, eggs, or pastries No silverware and trash cans were overflowingRoom: Dirty and has has tape on the ceiling Had a cracked toilet seat (which required maintenance to come by)This property also hosts events Be prepared for loud music until 10:30 at night (followed by an hour of them breaking down tables and cleaning up) Not where I would recommend going for a restful stay – though the wedding party seemed to have fun

stayed here for a mini trip in pittsburgh and it was so great! this was roughly the same price as hotels nearby but it’s so much more worth it because you get an entire apartment there was a kitchen with dishes, silverware, dish soap, etc it was very clean, in a great location, and the staff at the front desk were so nice and made my stay so easy

loved that there was a rite aid right next to it parking in the garage attached was $30 a night which wasn’t too bad giving air bnb vibes but it’s a hotel

Dianna Loevner

Etage was truly a wonderful lodging experience in Downtown Pittsburgh Communication by staff when calling prior to my stay was lovely Check-in was a breeze

On-site staff was kind and accommodating The lodging itself exceeded expectation by being large with a full kitchen set-up and fun colored lighting by the bed The views were fab, and featured a view of the valley and PPG PlaceWill definitely stay here on future travel to Pittsburgh! xo

We really enjoyed this sweet boutique hotel First, the staff was friendly and helpful Front desk was informative and efficient

Housekeeping was quick to respond and rooms were clean Don’t ever lose those great dreads:) and smile(you know who I mean) Second, the valet parking had good communication and service Shout out to Mica I’d trust him with my ride any day Lastly, location Close to exits and walking distance to all the cool things in downtown Pitt They were doing some remodeling but it wasn’t a hassle You are going to rock even more when it is finished! Keep up the good vibes I’ll definitely stay there again when visiting Rock On!!

Gabriella Guadagno

Room was very small, bed was comfortable though Temperature was perfect, the lobby was beautiful very nice decor and wonderful staff There is a beautiful terrace on the 10th floor with an amazing view of the city

It was really in the perfect location, target and LA Fitness was 8 minutes away so it was very convenient The only big issue I had was there was NO parking, I had to leave my car on the street they only had three stops and one of them was for an electric car and handicap The lots are so expensive, 25$ every time to go in and out so parking at meters and leaving my car three blocks away was SUPER annoying and honestly a big deal breaker for meThere is no microwave in the room, but you can use the lobby I am a Graduate student so I had to go down to heat up my food every day which was also annoying My room also did not have a blow dryer, but the front desk would have gave me another one I just never called back The stay was very comfortable, and the hotel was very clean Amazing and friendly staff!!

cam ,

It’s easier to mention what’s bad since most is good First of all, I’ve never ever had a front desk attendant as rude & useless as the accented, bearded, tall black man who checked us in This is not rooted in racism, all the other black employees were incredible

The room was really tiny for a king suite $35 for valet and $25 for self park is absolutely unacceptable, should have a free option of some kind Restaurant/bar wasn’t openPretty clean, location is best in city, rooftop deck was nice Very, very comfy bed Shower was awesome Modern Security was great, felt quite safe Internet was pretty quick Very clean area

While built in the 80’s along with the convention center, our room was comfortable and well maintained I might suggest a splash of color to love Up the dozen shades of beige… the bed is “heavenly”

There could have been a few more plugs People care more electronics than in the 80’s I did notice an odor in the air indicative of a ventilation system in need of cleaning The staff was very friendly in person and by chat The breakfast buffet was decent

I am a returning customer and both experiences were great I’ve been traveling for work which requires me in Pittsburgh once or twice a month This hotel is situated nicely close to the office and good restaurants

The staff are incredibly kind and helpful Really one of the best crews I’ve seen Valet is excellent as well The interior is beautiful as you can see by the pictures and the rooms are cleanThe beds are surprisingly the most comfortable I’ve experienced Odd to say that, but it’s true Room service is excellentIt’s great experience overall Now in May I’m attempting to travel with family, so we will see how a toddler does I suppose we will see what it’s like not to have a kitchenetteAlso wheelchair friendly and accessible The sidewalk in Pittsburgh are just ok, but that has nothing to do with the hotel!

Matt Smith

Great location in the Cultural District Staff was super polite and helpful Our room was decent

It was clean and the bed was really comfortable But it is in bad need of an update A couple pieces of furniture showed signs of minor damage, there were multiple holes in the drapes, and there was even a small hole in the fitted sheet on the bed And the chair in the room is terribly uncomfortable None of that would keep me from staying here again, but it will cause me to try a different hotel if available

For the money you pay the services should have been much better Requested extra towels, they never were delivered Reported that the tub was slow today and we were standing in ankle deep water

It never got fixed The rooms are lovely, the lobby is too, but for half the price you can stay at the Courtyard down the street The location at the Courtyard is a little closer to some fun bars and restaurants The Courtyard is a great property

Rude Front Desk Supervisor (Ellen)The hotel charge me an extra $300 for 1 night because they claimed I checked in a day before I really didWhen I called the hotel about this I was called a liar by the front desk supervisor (Ellen) and she told me “I was on camera signing papers and checking in on Friday” I checked in on Saturday and checked out on SundayEllen was very rude and was chuckling when telling me I was lying and I stayed for 2 nights not 1 like I actually did

When I asked for her employee number she then hung up on meI called the hotel back 5 times and was sent to voice-mail every timeI have never been disrespected and treated so poorly by a “professional” establishment, this experience made me feel like the gum stuck on the bottom of someone’s shoe This experience still feels really bad and Ellen hurt my feelingsI didn’t deserved to be treated like that and no one deserves to be treated like thatMy Girlfriend and the organization I was at this hotel with are just as upset about my experian as I am

I had an overall great experience here; the room was comfortable and clean, the breakfast was pretty good, and the staff were generally friendly and helpful It is very convenient to UPMC, the hospital and other associated buildings – an “easy” walk, so long as you don’t mind some rather steep uphill sections One thing to be aware of: the parking situation isn’t great

They have limited parking in a very cramped and somewhat beleaguered looking garage, and if you arrive late there’s a good chance it will be full In that case, there’s street parking, but it’s metered starting at 8am, or they will direct you to a parking garage about 2-3 blocks away (where we eventually parked) where you can park and walk back Not the greatest experience in the world to arrive late and tired, ready to sleep and then have to spend another half-hour or more figuring out parking But, this is in part the price paid for such a convenient location!

The hotel was good with spacious clean rooms and a convenient locationBUT, management is cheap and stingyCalled front for body lotion – got the response that they have ran out of themBreakfast:Broken toaster – Cannot even replace with a new oneDissappearing breakfast items – blamed on shortageRoom CleaningService staff stormed to clean the room while we were still there

Something seriously wrong with management

Charis Armah

The hotel in itself is a beautiful property although the management staff leave much to be desired with their uncouth and downright rude behavior! It might be because I am person of color, I am quite unsure but the GENERAL MANAGER, Kimberley Jones, of the property saw it fit to hang up the phone on me and my father and tell us to meet her downstairs due to the simple fact that the TV provided in the room was NOT working! That in itself was mystifying and unprofessional coming from the woman who runs the hotel but the shock did not end there Upon coming downstairs, she then saw it fit to not even be present for the conversation she had moved abruptly in-person and rather send out her subordinates to defend her uncouth behavior! In all of our stays at hotels, we have never experienced such a a rude employee, let alone a manager! As my father is a Gold Elite Members of Marriott, we were shocked to receive such treatment at a Marriott hotelIf you want your stay to be sprinkled in with unnecessary rude and aggressive behavior, I definitely suggest staying at this hotel!

I am overdue writing this, but Ron and I love staying at the Parador Inn Ed and his pups make you feel instantly at home I brought a birthday cake for a surprise the day before to the Inn and Ed had it set up in the room when we returned from an evening out

It is that kind of attention that keeps us returningnow let’s talk about Ed’s AMAZING breakfast!!!

Beth Layton

This was our first stay at a bed & breakfast and I have to say Ed sat the bar high! The Inn is beautiful and breakfast was perfect! We drove in from Johnstown for a Thursday night Pitt game at Heinz Field and the location is great Even with a recent knee replacement I was able to walk the short distance to and from the field Ed and his pups make great hosts! The ice machines weren’t working so you had to have the front desk get you some from the Cafe The breakfast is made to order and is NOT included with your room cost Coffee and fruit are offered free however

The hot tub was out of order and the pool was too cold for my liking so we didn’t utilize that amenity Also the guest laundry feature was out of order Check out was noon and I was able to have a late checkout til 1pm without extra charge Beautiful back yard with large gas fireplace over looking the river made up for all the other things out of order though Very nice Service from staff was excellent

I don’t normally leave reviews But in this case I just feel it’s so necessary! ALL and I mean ALL the staff were extremely polite and very helpful and accommodating! I really appreciated the valet staff being especially patient with us loading and offering to help! The room was exceptionally clean and even smelled super clean when we walked in It was great having the breakfast and kickback

Also loved the pool and hot tub! Thank you for being the best hotel around!

Vern Rogers

This is a great hotel for people attending a convention It is very convenient and you’ll save a great deal with the free breakfast and the evening snacks The room was clean – it’s nice to stay in a room where the HVAC doesn’t wake you up when it comes on

Some of the rooms have no view and look directly at a wall – but you probably aren’t spending time in the room to enjoy the view The fitness center is small, the pool is decent, and the rooftop deck is great when the weather is niceThe best part was the staff Everyone was professional and helpful I really appreciated Darnell – he does excellent work in the dining areaBefore you leave, make sure you go down to the basement to see the old vaults from the bank that used to occupy the building

Our stay was amazing We had the best time and was a great location So close to everything

The free breakfast and dinner buffet was great also and the free drink vouchers I have to say the front desk had great staff but hands down Nina was so sweet and gave us lots of ideas to do while we were there She definitely went above and beyond her job and amazing She definitely deserves a raise We definitely will be back real soon and can’t wait to stay here again
