Such a lovely stay!!We enjoyed every minute of our time here Jay was welcoming and kind and our room was clean/quiet/cozy Breakfast was an inspired/homemade dish and we just really couldn’t have asked for anything more

This was an easy review to write because everything was solid, and we’d come back in a heartbeat

Had a great stay at Jay’s He is very attentive & communicative He & his team were hosting a graduation party over the weekend

He made sure to plate food for me & I enjoyed watching the festivities from my roomYou are given a skeleton key to your room I got the Peurto Rico room! Great space There was a private bathroom with a shower I also had access to a shared bathroom with a deep tub for soaking There are plenty of spaces to enjoy the outside, work, or read a bookThe food was great & Jay’s special blend coffee is NOT to be missed Definitely a very special place 💜

You could choose a nice mid-range hotel for your western Massachusetts lodging needs You could It’s a free country

Heck, we almost went that route this weekendBut blessedly, we chose Jay’s B&B instead It was 97 degrees out when we arrived, but we somehow felt ourselves cool off as our host wrapped us in the warmth of his hospitality before we’d even grabbed our overnight bags from the car It’d been a long crazy day And Jay read it on our faces, and then effortlessly acted as a true host does in easing and comforting weary travelersThere’s more to the story from there, and it’s in the same veinBreakfast was a singular delight — only our host Jay could outshine that wonderful meal So do yourself a favor next time you’re swinging through the area — or, heck, make it a destination unto itself — book a stay with Jay and be reminded of what true hospitality is

Highly recommend I have stayed at the Dhotel numerous times It has a little bit of everything for everyone

Pool and hot tub are well cared for Beds are super comfy Breakfast is included and always a plus But mostly the staff are very attentive, and accommodating This hotel beats any chain/corporate hotel, which is an even bigger plus to support local entrepreneurs! Will definitely be back!

Lisa G

The hotel property is very nice The breakfast is great- fresh food and many choices The rooms are large and comfortable

The reason for the low rating is the terrible staff The front desk called my room at 4:30 AM and woke me up to tell me my son was on the lobby and had arrived My son was sleeping in our room! When I asked about it later that day, the man said that this person had our room number so he called us to see if we were waiting for him I asked if he checked his name or his parents’ names before ringing a guest’s room He said he had not I was woken up because of incompetence When I spoke to the manager the next day he was very nonchalant He did admit that his staff needed to be trained better His attitude was not very apologetic Also- I was there for 2 nights and my room was never cleaned When I asked they said they only clean upon request I wish I had known that I had to request That should be told to guests at check in I asked why I wasn’t told and they said that most guests just know that How can I know if I’m not told The staff is poor with terrible communication with guests Although it’s a very nice hotel, because the staff is so awful, I would not go back nor would I recommend it

Ernest Brown III

Clean and well maintained Staff were friendly and informative Pool and hot tub were just perfect

Breakfast was delicious Rooms were clean and provided that home feeling The only negatives would be the beds were very stiff and uncomfortable The elevator takes a long time to go from point A to point B When you exit the pool area you have to walk to the other side to use the elevator and water is noticed on the floor Sure you can put a wet floor sign down but if it isn’t picked up people will walk all over it and make mud from the dirt from the bottom of peoples shoes

I was at Hotel Northampton in May of 2022 for two nights The first night being the night before my daughter’s wedding It was an unusually warm couple days and the air conditioning in our room was less than adequate

This was not a big deal for me but my wife is sensitive to warm/hot room conditions so it was an issue for her The first night the fire alarm system sounded at about midnight and lasted for about 15 min I dealt with that OK When it went off again at about 2 am many people (including me) evacuated the building and were allowed in again 45 minutes later Remember what I said earlier it was the night BEFORE MY DAUGHTER’S WEDDING I got about 3 hrs of fitful sleep total and was not in good shape on her wedding dayI waited until now Aug 4 2022 to write this review as I hoped to replace my forever memory of Hotel Northampton as a place that never acknowledged my inconvenience and proactively did nothing Management knew a large wedding party was there and did refund the rental costs of a few guests that asked for it I didn’t ask then and won’t ask now; excellent customer service doesn’t wait to be askedThat’s it I’m done, just wanted to share a very personal experience

My wife and I recently stayed at the Hotel Northampton in the Gothic Garden Suite for our wedding weekend We really enjoyed our spacious room especially for having our brides and groomsmen over prior to the wedding Hotel Northampton was great to work with during our planning process to block hotel rooms for our guests as well as hand out gift bags when our guests arrived

Additionally, Hotel Northampton is located in the heart of Northampton which made it very easy to walk to nearby restaurants/stores We highly recommend a stay at this wonderful hotel and could not have asked for a better wedding weekend accommodation!

Jama Barreh

The building is updated nicely but it shows its age in few place such as the elevators I found the room to be very clean and comfortable The staff is EXCELLENT

Stayed here once, was ok Front desk mostly empty, breakfast stale Mostly disappointed at their insane method for booking for family weekend

Wasted over an hour each with my wife (totaled over 500 calls), got through a couple times only to be hung up on immediately Anything would be better, run a damn lottery, open an online list to get reservations Also not at all inclusive (I’m hard of hearing but phone is the only way they accept reservations for that weekend) Didn’t even have the courtesy to post to their site when they were fully booked Leaves a bad taste, will unlikely every stay there again despite the obviously ideal location for a parent of a student I feel bad for the people that have to work the phones, they are the only ones treated worse than the families

What a wonderful place to stay After traveling the planet over the last 12 years the owners are two of the most wonderful people I have met From comfortable beds and bathrooms to having someone there for anything you need

For myself, I needed a new perspective with all that is going on in our world, and that was somehow included by Ann and her husband Alan I will never forget my stay in this historical home (was once part of the Emily Dickinson family and her childhood home/museum is across the street) and the conversations I had with these two The place is so convenient for those who love nature or bicycle riding or running Not only is it connected to a rail trail for bicycling, running or nature walks, but it is also very easy to get to Boston, Connecticut and Rhode Island for bicycling on their rail trails I loved this place so much, I visited again a week later and then extended that stay by 4 nights Maybe, its just the people in this area, actually that is exactly what it is People like Ann and Alan make this a wonderful community Sorry to ramble but when people change your life its hard not to boast about it

Layannie Haydon-Mayer

The inn is beautiful! So glad it is open during covid It’s such a old house with delightful half nook stairs The shower was amazing in my room

The host are cheerful and eager to helpEmily Dickinson house is right across the street

Preston Maynard

I have spent two wonderful weekends here The Inn is a Victorian masterpiece right in the heart of Amherst (across from Emily’s house) with beautiful individually crafted rooms and capacious common areas My room was very amble size with all the accoutrements, including tile bath with shower, make-up mirror, puffy towels, and luxury soaps

The room had lots of windows, exquisite wallpapers, period furniture and prints, embroidered comforters, and pillows sets The dining room is beautiful and spacious (during COVID I was the only one using the DR) Jan, the Host, is welcoming and has a wealth of knowledge Each morning she made me anything I wanted for breakfast Plenty of delicious coffee, vegie omelets, toast, blueberry muffins, to name a few The surrounding area is full of beautiful nature trails, university offerings, historic Dickinson homes, and famous North Hampton-Belchertown bike trail! Local restaurants are an easy walk I will be going back to the Amherst Inn for regular visits to the Pioneer Valley! Highly recommend it

Edward Sayer

This hotel used to be one of my favorite in the area However, it’s in need of updating there was considerable chipped paint on the credenza in the bathroom

and the results so an unpleasant smell and the room The hotel was pretty busy and there was a considerable amount of noise coming from the room above us We were on the second floor a call to the front desk resolved the matter, but I wonder whether better signage might have been helpful about the need for quiet after 10:00

KMcC Media

The beds were fine The room was simple, clean and adequate The breakfast was quite nice, for a hotel breakfast

Thumbs up on the fried potatoes, and the coffee was surprisingly goodDownsides; yes there was a mini-fridge and coffee maker in the room, but no microwaveA major complaint for a traveler in the digital age The TV was an LG, large and fairly nice It was positioned in the middle of the counter on which it was set, and an unnecessary (IMHO) grommet for the cables, made it impossible to push it back to have more usable counter But the inexcusable decision of the hotel was to lock down the control of the TV so much that, even though the HDMI jacks on the TV itself were accessible, it was impossible to select those inputs for the sake of playing one’s own computer or video-game console (for people who travel with their own media) You were stuck watching hotel channels on the nice TV or looking at your own laptop or tablet, if you wanted to stream a movie or something of your own boo

Chris Morrissey

First, important tip: If you want to use the HDMI input on the TV and you have an old remote, ask the front desk for a new remote We did and got a remote with an input selection and were able to watch video from our computerOtherwise, the room was very clean and we thought the beds were very comfortable

Lots of outlets, including usb ports for charging electronics Staff was very nice and helpfulMorning breakfast was very good, although somewhat limitedIt’s fairly expensive, although on par for the areaThey do have an array of electric chargers out front which is helpful for any EV ownersOverall, I would stay here againUpdate:Some have mentioned that there is no microwave in the room, and while true, there is one in the common area that is open for anyoneAlso, I checked with the management and they are in the process of replacing the remotes in all rooms with the newer version that allows selecting a different input, which enables viewing content from an HDMI cable

We had our puppy with us and therefore had to stay in a room designated for dogs Although the room was clean the carpets had countless stains probably from previous dogs Marie greeted us when we arrived and prepared a lovely breakfast including eggs from the chickens which roam the property

She was very sweet to give me cookies and jam as it was my birthday Because we were the only ones staying there, she sat and conversed with us during breakfast which was lovely We learned about the history of the Inn and the renovations her son made to the property It was one of the more expensive inns we stayed in during our 16 day trip because of the $50 dog fee that I felt was much higher than any other Inn we stayed at It is a college town but most students had left for summer break so it was easy to find a spot to grab dinner I think when school is in session, it might be a different story Off street parking, beds were comfortable, hot water was plentiful, some street noise

Sandy Loschiavo

We recently stayed at the Black Walnut Inn on our way to Vermont It was a very pleasant stay thanks to the very nice family who run the inn Marie is especially pleasant and welcoming

The Kelley Room was large, clean, and quiet Loved having the two bathrooms Breakfast also was nice with choice of whatever you wanted Fresh fruit and good coffee was also served Just wanted to say thanks for making our visit a pleasant oneSandy & HowardNorristown, PA

The Daniel Stebbins Bed and Breakfast was one of our best experiences of places to stay while on our leaf watching adventure The home was absolutely beautiful, and we enjoyed hearing about the history of the home Ruth and Richard are wonderful hosts, and very accommodating to help with our schedule and suggestions of things to do in the area

Our room was very comfortable with a fireplace and super comfy bed and sheetsRuth fixed an amazing breakfast for us the next morning Everything was delicious and freshThank you, Ruth and Richard for a memorable stay!!

C D

I stayed here for a week this summer for business I am not normally a “bed and breakfast kind of person” I like my privacy and generally keep to myself but I needed a place to stay and I am so glad that circumstances put me here

The owners have achieved a perfect blend of a genuine personalized touch with a well run professional establishment They clearly love what they do and are excellent at it The accommodations are a brief walk to the Mount Holyoke College campus and are very clean, updated and very very comfortable with central AC if that is important to you I cannot recommend this place enough I myself tend to view 5-star ratings with skepticism, but honestly, I was completely happy with my experience here Instead of just being a place to crash at the end of a long day, by the end of the week, I realized that had enriched my stay in the area

Lee Ann Sklar

My daughter and I stayed at the Daniel Stebbins House during our visit to Smith and Amherst Colleges While we live in Virginia my great aunt lived in Northampton so I am familiar with the area I wanted to share my love of history and New England with my daughter so I made reservations at a couple of bed and breakfasts after doing some research online

We couldn’t have been happier staying at the Daniel Stebbins House It is a beautiful and lovely maintained historic home and it is evident right away that Ruth and Richard not only enjoy sharing their home but the stewardship that comes with owning a historic property Josh is a talented chef and clearly loves preparing breakfast for the guests each morning Everything was served in freshly made and delicious My daughter and I had a wonderful time and look forward to our next visit

The management, staff and owners were welcoming and nice to chat with Even the dog we met at check-in was a delight Our only regret was packing up the car and checking out We will definitely be back time and again

We stayed at The Old Mill Inn for my wife’s Birthday I saw an article in local newspaper about this Inn being completely renovated so I went on web to see it It looked beautiful and rooms looked gorgeous

I live about 28 miles from the Inn so I thought it would be a great 1 night getaway on my wife’s Bday on 2/22/22 I stopped in and said I had booked a room and would it be possible to do a toast at 2:22 on 2/22/22 They were so friendly and wanted to make the day special I went in early to drop off cake and flowers and they were so accommodating They brought out the champagne and took pictures of us at 2:22 on 2/22/22 We booked the waterfall room and it was stunning Waterfall right outside our window filled room It was beautifully appointed and just a wonderful experience Sleeping with the windows open listening to the water flow over the damn was a one of a kind experience We down for breakfast and the food and hospitality was second to none It felt like we were so far from home in a different worldThank You Old Mill Inn for giving such a wonderful memory!Bill $ Kristie

We stayed for 2 nights just a bit ago Extremely clean, including finding a drier sheet in the bedding (the best thing to find in the bedding at a hotel lol) Staff was exceptional and friendly

The only ding is that the rooms are fairly narrow, but the soundproofing between rooms was on pointBest point of design is that the whole room had a tile floor No gross hotel carpets to be seen!

K G

The Tru Hilton manager Rachel generously offered us a bereavement rate as we traveled to Chicopee for my aunt’s military funeral service As always, our Tru stay was excellent The rooms are clean and cheerful with nice desks and office chairs

The mobility accessible rooms are very large comparably and offer excellent space with vinyl wood floors for rolling a walker as well as spacious roll-in showers The breakfast is always good with fun yummy pancake maker and nice options including eggs and oatmeal Tru also has one of Hilton hotels best coffee! We love the fun locally themed lobbies, filtered water machines, clean fitness rooms, and friendly staff This hotel is near the highway but we slept well and appreciated the great value and safe parking lot to leave the vehicle overnight Definitely recommend!

Coach ShaVon Guinyard

This hotel is absolutely beautiful Our first night here we were greeted with outstanding customer service The morning after the same

We left for the day to visit schools and came back to dirty towels still on the floor and trash not emptied I called and asked for clean towels and was told I had to bring the dirty towels and get new towels After asking for the GM information I got “noise complaints” of music being too loud when no music was playing I then got noise complaints of talking too loud Which no one was We usually go to Marriott brand hotels We will stick with Marriott Very disappointing for the price we pay to stay here

We stayed at Allen House bed and breakfast this past weekend This place is amazing It is immersed in history and the care takers Mr

Allen and his wife Mrs Anne are wonderful folks My wife grew up in Mass and to stay here was a walk down memory lane The room we stayed in, the ” peach room” was fully loaded for what we needed It was quiet and we got great sleep Mrs Anne makes awesome breakfast, my favorite are the omelets We look forward to our next stay at this amazing location

The owners of this inn and phenomenal They offer free breakfast right down the street, gave us a map of the local area, told us about their favorite things to do, and they have the cutest hypo-allergenic rag doll cats The traditional Victorian home is beautiful and very well maintained

We had our own room with no disturbances and our own room key If we are ever back in the area we will stay here again! It’s the happiest place my husband and I have ever stayed The place was quiet, the house was beautiful, the owners were helpful!

Stayed for 3 days for work the room was very clean when I walked in I mean you could smell they just finished cleaning it was great The bed is really comfy has a really nice comforter and pillows The bathroom was very clean only problem with the whole experience was that the toilet kept getting clogged when I first walked in it already needed to be clogged before using it and also the sink wasn’t letting out water seems to be a little plumbing issues but room was comfy and cosy most of the employees were very nice and accommodating the pool is very nice it’s heated no salt water the gym also has a few good things to use and a water station

All and all great experience

It’s a decent enough hotel Clean, friendly service, etc However, it appears as though it hasn’t been updated in quite some time

Decor was much more dated than many Hampton Inn’s I’ve stayed at Television was also quite small Location is okay, but there’s virtually nothing within walking distance unless you like crossing very high vehicular traffic areas, there is at least a Starbucks across the parking lot

I have seen better Marriot hotels before Small swimming pool Nice room with sheets and bedding

I spent my time in downtown Northampton and the journey from the hotel was pretty smooth I did most of the research for staying in West Massachusetts and this hotel was fine We had a good time and it was worth the drive from the east We made memories, but hotel quality was 3 stars

My fiancé and I travelled from CT to MA for a work trip this weekend After immediately walking out of a property in a neighboring town because the room was appalling, we called the Deerfield Inn in desperation on Friday night and were immediately offered a walk-in rate for a room that had just cancelled We had never heard of it before, despite living in New England all our lives

Property is located right on old Main Street in the historic section and is full of colonial New England charm Everyone we dealt with from Debbie at the front desk, to the hostess and wait staff in the restaurant, were wonderful, very sympathetic to our experience at the previous hotel, and more than willing to make our short stay amazing Our room in the Carriage House was absolutely lovely, spacious, spotless and comfortable, right down to the king sized bed and the linens Our end of the evening dinner (fish and chips, my favorite!) was tasty and filling, more than we could eat NO complaints whatsoever about this wonderful Inn, and we hope to visit again for sightseeing soon!

My 12th stay here in 3 years/lovely inn- highlight is champneys restaurant- rooms are a bit dated- some have very small Bathrooms and TVs need to all be replaced- town is pretty but housed never open when we want to visit Staff is erratic- some great and helpful and some disorganized and unfriendly-dinners on the porch are lovely- as is very economic breakfast

I love the Deerfield Inn The food is consistently great and the atmosphere is always wonderful On this last visit though, the portion of my wife’s salmon (and that of our friends) was shockingly small

really small If our friend hadn’t gotten the same dinner with the same small portion I would have thought it was a mistake We’ve gotten it before and it certainly was not like that at allIf a restaurant needs to raise the price, fine, but do not try to fool me by keeping the price the same and cutting the portion size in half I am so disappointed by this last visit
